- 1:29Speaker 1: talking fast because I'm excited because I have a legend
- 1:32Speaker 1: on the phone, a guy that musically has been with me. Wow,
- 1:37Speaker 1: says college. You know, Ladies and gentle I'm just gonna
- 1:41Speaker 1: say his name. You're gonna know who he is. Ladies
- 1:44Speaker 1: and gentlemen, planning arenas all over the country, selling out
- 1:46Speaker 1: all over the country, hit song right here and number
- 1:49Speaker 1: two on the billboard. I'm blessed. Ladies and gentlemen, please
- 1:52Speaker 1: walk into phone the one and only Charlie Wilson. I'm
- 2:02Speaker 1: gonna tell you something, Challie. First of all, let me
- 2:05Speaker 1: just congratulate you on on you your show man. Um uh,
- 2:11Speaker 1: it's it's truly a blessing to have you out here.
- 2:13Speaker 1: And and uh and people want to know, um, how
- 2:19Speaker 1: to have a conversation about making money. Well, you know,
- 2:21Speaker 1: I do, you know the beauty of my relationship and
- 2:25Speaker 1: watching you and I want to talk about that song.
- 2:27Speaker 1: I'm blessed because it's you know, every time I hear it,
- 2:30Speaker 1: it means something different every time to me. And um,
- 2:34Speaker 1: and you're you're an amazing guy man, because you've seen
- 2:37Speaker 1: songs and don't take this wrong. They they're just simple
- 2:40Speaker 1: thoughts that you turn into magic, you know what I'm saying.
- 2:44Speaker 1: And and I'm blessed it almost And you can tell me,
- 2:47Speaker 1: Richard if I'm wrong on this. You know you are
- 2:50Speaker 1: highly successful in a group okay, and now as an
- 2:54Speaker 1: individual artist, you far exceeded what you did is a
- 2:58Speaker 1: group you're now selling and use out. And when I
- 3:02Speaker 1: hear the song, I'm blessed. It's almost like, um, a
- 3:06Speaker 1: public acknowledgement. Not just you just happen to be allowing
- 3:09Speaker 1: us to hear you sing it, but almost seems like
- 3:12Speaker 1: that's a public acknowledgement. Of you, what you're telling, what
- 3:16Speaker 1: God has done for you. And if I'm wrong, please
- 3:18Speaker 1: help me and extend the conversation because that's where I
- 3:21Speaker 1: hear every time, because I know I'm only sitting here
- 3:24Speaker 1: because I'm blessed. And I know I'm blessed because of
- 3:27Speaker 1: the fact that when I wake up, God has given
- 3:29Speaker 1: me another opportunity to do something I want to do
- 3:31Speaker 1: in life. So if you can found on that song, man,
- 3:34Speaker 1: please do because brother, every time I hear, I'm I'm
- 3:37Speaker 1: near tears, man, because I know the journey that you've
- 3:40Speaker 1: been on, and I know the journey it takes to
- 3:42Speaker 1: stay on it and to build a career you build
- 3:45Speaker 1: and the people you have around and Michael, your beautiful wife,
- 3:48Speaker 1: all these people. It's important, man, talk to us. Charlie,
- 3:52Speaker 1: thank you so much. Man. You're absolutely right. Man. It's
- 3:55Speaker 1: just it's a blessing first of all, to wake up,
- 3:59Speaker 1: um every single day, it's a it's a it's a
- 4:03Speaker 1: it's a blessing. And and I always wanted to have
- 4:06Speaker 1: a song that I could thank God, you know, And
- 4:10Speaker 1: because so many people have been really been trying that
- 4:13Speaker 1: there's been getting me, trying to get me to do
- 4:14Speaker 1: a gospel record for so many years, and I have
- 4:16Speaker 1: been promising God that I would I would shout him
- 4:19Speaker 1: out to do something, you know, and use my baby,
- 4:25Speaker 1: Come on, man, but a little Jesus in your song.
- 4:28Speaker 1: Come on brother from God and some of that, you know,
- 4:32Speaker 1: first name, the last name, Come on baby, first name, Jesus,
- 4:35Speaker 1: last name Christ, come on now. And so I was
- 4:40Speaker 1: absolutely right. I was, you know, so many, so many,
- 4:43Speaker 1: so many times people have asked me. So I'd say,
- 4:46Speaker 1: if I can do the record, that I could just
- 4:50Speaker 1: talk about how good God has been to me in
- 4:52Speaker 1: some way another and um and still have it. You know,
- 4:57Speaker 1: the R and B and people do with urban stations
- 5:01Speaker 1: were played in gospel stations were played and I want
- 5:04Speaker 1: to have that kind of a record. And He blessed
- 5:07Speaker 1: me with that record. And it's not it's dedicated to
- 5:11Speaker 1: you and all the blessing that God has continue to
- 5:14Speaker 1: give us all. The only one thing to ask if
- 5:16Speaker 1: you just take a moment everything to thank God for
- 5:19Speaker 1: the blessings that he's that He's stored upon all of us.
- 5:23Speaker 1: And so man, I'm souly blessed. He was always And
- 5:27Speaker 1: how are you doing up the should I'm blessed and
- 5:29Speaker 1: how they say it. I've we've been saying that my
- 5:31Speaker 1: whole life. It's just it was just it was just
- 5:35Speaker 1: so it was just time for for a record like that.
- 5:38Speaker 1: You know, it's the number one of the last week
- 5:41Speaker 1: week for the last a couple of weeks. You know,
- 5:44Speaker 1: tracking brother, I'll be tracking the man. Yeah, it's just
- 5:47Speaker 1: how they had that. Man, thank you all so much
- 5:50Speaker 1: for helping me get that to number one. And and uh,
- 5:54Speaker 1: it's just a blessing. Man. Let me you didn't have that.
- 5:56Speaker 1: Let me just Charlie. Now, how how do you introduced
- 6:00Speaker 1: song in concert? So, first of all, we're gonna talk
- 6:02Speaker 1: about that tour, Phantasia and Johnny gil you know I
- 6:05Speaker 1: love Johnny Gili. Then Phantasius I'm sure she's still kicking
- 6:08Speaker 1: off through shoes, and then you And but the thing
- 6:12Speaker 1: about this day, how do you introduce that song in
- 6:15Speaker 1: your concerts? You know, I just go at it. I
- 6:20Speaker 1: don't even I don't even say another people being just
- 6:22Speaker 1: amusic because when they hear it, I don't. I don't
- 6:25Speaker 1: sing the hook right away like like I do on
- 6:26Speaker 1: the record. I just people, So I'll be watching people
- 6:30Speaker 1: look at it, and then I just go off into
- 6:32Speaker 1: the verses. Uh. But I just go right into it. Man.
- 6:36Speaker 1: I used to put this thing on in front of it,
- 6:38Speaker 1: you know, and I was just saying, okay, you know
- 6:42Speaker 1: I already I testified enough people know what this is. Man.
- 6:45Speaker 1: As soon as they hear the music, they go right
- 6:46Speaker 1: here and I just go to sing. And I at
- 6:51Speaker 1: the beginning of my tool year, I was I was
- 6:53Speaker 1: talking about how good I've been least God has been this,
- 6:56Speaker 1: and God has been doing this for me, and and
- 6:58Speaker 1: I said, I'm I'm gonna see here, I'll do the
- 7:00Speaker 1: Ugust record right here. That's how you ushould do it.
- 7:02Speaker 1: But now I just go right into it. Man. It's
- 7:04Speaker 1: just man, I'm blessed. Man, have so many people staring
- 7:08Speaker 1: at me from so many thousands and thousands and thousands
- 7:10Speaker 1: of see Uh, you know, don't say I started out. Yeah,
- 7:17Speaker 1: I started out in clubs, you know, clubs by myself.
- 7:20Speaker 1: You know, I had to. I had to start over
- 7:22Speaker 1: from the ground up. You know. First I had to
- 7:24Speaker 1: get off from nder the ground to get on top
- 7:26Speaker 1: of the ground. Uh, you know, munder the floor, you know.
- 7:30Speaker 1: And then uh so when you say the magic CD
- 7:34Speaker 1: was the first was the the first climb out the
- 7:36Speaker 1: Magic CD and then of course, you know, there goes
- 7:39Speaker 1: my baby, brought you all the way back. Correct, well, Charlie,
- 7:43Speaker 1: last night my first number one was without you, right right, right,
- 7:49Speaker 1: right right, Yeah, there was a two thousands about you,
- 7:53Speaker 1: and then uh we went from that to Childer, last
- 7:55Speaker 1: name Wilson and still one of my favorite songs Man,
- 7:58Speaker 1: still a woman favorite, Magic Africa, Daver, Hocus Pocus, and
- 8:06Speaker 1: then that goes back. It was the funny part about it.
- 8:09Speaker 1: I was, I was just, you know, live in Houston
- 8:12Speaker 1: and I was just visiting and I was used on
- 8:15Speaker 1: Magic one or two. It's one of another station, and
- 8:17Speaker 1: that's the first time. And you was it was on
- 8:19Speaker 1: a Saturday, and you was doing a concert in Houston
- 8:22Speaker 1: that night, and it was that they were in the
- 8:24Speaker 1: theater and that's the first time I heard that song.
- 8:27Speaker 1: You're introduced it. And I remember I went back to Steve.
- 8:30Speaker 1: I says Steve, Um, Charlie got a hit. Dude, he's
- 8:34Speaker 1: with me. I said, I heard this song in Houston,
- 8:37Speaker 1: and dude, I just heard it for the first time.
- 8:40Speaker 1: This dude got a hit. And brother, come on, now,
- 8:43Speaker 1: come on, now, get more than a hit. Brother, you
- 8:47Speaker 1: had a career maker man, and then you did the
- 8:50Speaker 1: Hoodies for us. And I'm gonna tell somebody like a
- 8:52Speaker 1: special story about Charlie Wilson as a man, as a performer.
- 8:57Speaker 1: He heard his back at the Hoodies one year and
- 9:01Speaker 1: we went in the dressing room and we we When
- 9:03Speaker 1: we went in the dress room to tell him it
- 9:05Speaker 1: was all right, you don't have to perform, he said,
- 9:08Speaker 1: I don't do that because you told us it ain't
- 9:12Speaker 1: about you. What se ain't about you. He's about my
- 9:15Speaker 1: fans because you told us you clearly you cleared it
- 9:17Speaker 1: up right there. YouTube ain't about y'all. He's about those
- 9:21Speaker 1: fans that those ten thousand people. It was level thousand
- 9:23Speaker 1: people waiting to see you. And we said, well, what
- 9:25Speaker 1: you're gonna do? He said, get me out there, give
- 9:28Speaker 1: me a chair, and I'm gonna do my show. Charlie
- 9:32Speaker 1: Wilson y'all performed for an hour and a half, the
- 9:35Speaker 1: greatest concert I've ever seen in my life and live
- 9:40Speaker 1: and never stood one time but to say good night. Yeah,
- 9:45Speaker 1: I had a herniated this man. I did that show.
- 9:49Speaker 1: I had one motor next night and then I went
- 9:52Speaker 1: I went from there straight to Los Angeles from the
- 9:56Speaker 1: airport straight to this to this to this hospital doctor
- 10:00Speaker 1: and he put me right in and operated on my back.
- 10:02Speaker 1: The next morning. Wow. I was like, dude, can operated

- 10:13Speaker 1: wrong with me. And I take two steps and down
- 10:16Speaker 1: I go, and then I I didn't know what was

- 10:19Speaker 1: her need to dish. I think they m my allw

- 17:15Speaker 1: deal I know because you know, you know, a lot
- 17:17Speaker 1: of people give me, you know, because what I did
- 17:19Speaker 1: with Steve Harvey managing his career, but your mom is
- 17:21Speaker 1: the person that gave me inspiration because you have to
- 17:24Speaker 1: look at you have to look at something. Somebody had
- 17:27Speaker 1: half to have done it first. You know, somebody just
- 17:28Speaker 1: started fire before everybody started lighting fires. You know what
- 17:31Speaker 1: I'm saying, Stay with the car. And so your mom
- 17:35Speaker 1: was in there, not just dealing with just minority everybody.
- 17:38Speaker 1: She's dealing with everybody, all the deals and all this
- 17:40Speaker 1: stuff because a lot of times when you represent the
- 17:42Speaker 1: minority town, you know, the big agencies won't touch you,
- 17:45Speaker 1: and so you gotta have somebody who believes in you
- 17:48Speaker 1: and has the world though when I said where thought
- 17:50Speaker 1: the legal paperwork? Now offended also has that poker face.
- 17:55Speaker 1: You didn't get the money that you deserve. It's amazing.
- 17:57Speaker 1: So you know, every time I talked to her, she's
- 17:59Speaker 1: all when he's talking about something. Now, she's a producer
- 18:02Speaker 1: on your reality show on own, isn't she? She is?
- 18:05Speaker 1: And she's also a she you know, she just knows,
- 18:08Speaker 1: like you said, the name of the game. She was
- 18:10Speaker 1: managing UH and producing long before I got into the
- 18:14Speaker 1: game in UH in the late eighties. UM, and so
- 18:18Speaker 1: she knows. Yeah, so she's an amazing soundboard. But she's
- 18:21Speaker 1: somebody who has seen it all. You mentioned that she
- 18:24Speaker 1: managed a really a collected group of people everyone from
- 18:28Speaker 1: Wesley Snipes LeVar Burton was her first client when roots
- 18:32Speaker 1: and that's how long she far back she goes and
- 18:35Speaker 1: she didn't know what she was doing Rastan, she just
- 18:37Speaker 1: she faked it. So she made it and she she
- 18:39Speaker 1: is somebody who is high up on the list of
- 18:41Speaker 1: mineary inspirations. And so she's been really you know, as
- 18:46Speaker 1: I go into you know, I'm now a certain age
- 18:49Speaker 1: and you know, I'm producing and doing things that I
- 18:52Speaker 1: wanted to do. And she's a perfect person to bounce
- 18:54Speaker 1: off of. Are you your children, if you're Rodney's children's
- 18:58Speaker 1: going to entertain? Entertain? Well a couple of them wanted
- 19:03Speaker 1: to when they were younger, commercial things like that, and
- 19:06Speaker 1: I pushed back and just like my dad pushed back
- 19:09Speaker 1: when my dad was original Gordon on Sesme Street. So
- 19:11Speaker 1: he started that show. He was the first guy to
- 19:15Speaker 1: walked down the street brother talk with big artist Gilmore's Sideberds. No,
- 19:20Speaker 1: I just dated myself, but he he was his brother
- 19:23Speaker 1: that you know, started a whole genre and he didn't
- 19:26Speaker 1: want me. I wanted to be on the show, of
- 19:27Speaker 1: course I did. It was Sesme Street. I was five.
- 19:30Speaker 1: Everybody in my neighborhood. Shilly got to go on but me,
- 19:33Speaker 1: so I kept telling him I want to go on,
- 19:34Speaker 1: and finally gave in. I went up to New York
- 19:37Speaker 1: to be on Tesse Street. I had one line and
- 19:39Speaker 1: I blew my one line. I was supposed to say Hi, Gordon,
- 19:41Speaker 1: but I kept saying Hi Daddy. But the part of
- 19:45Speaker 1: what I was trying to say is that he didn't
- 19:50Speaker 1: want you have from Sesemey Street to Jump Street. When
- 19:54Speaker 1: they gave me a list of things to talk about, now,
- 19:57Speaker 1: clothing line wasn't on it. Oh, we'll see. Because because
- 20:01Speaker 1: you're thinking like a manager and I'm thinking like I'm
- 20:04Speaker 1: just going to go on and talk to my buddy,
- 20:06Speaker 1: You're like, no, No, she has things that she's doing.
- 20:09Speaker 1: You always have things you're doing. But their clothing line powerful.
- 20:12Speaker 1: Now I want to talk about that, because you know
- 20:14Speaker 1: we're gonna push the on and for Pete's sake and
- 20:16Speaker 1: all that stuff. But let's talk about this clothing line
- 20:19Speaker 1: that you launched last summer. Yeah, so I launched it
- 20:21Speaker 1: last summer. It's HRP like my initials. Obviously, it's on
- 20:25Speaker 1: Evine Live exclusively for Evine Live. Not Evine is one
- 20:28Speaker 1: of the shopping networks. UM, and it is on you know,
- 20:33Speaker 1: just look it up E V, I, N E and UM.
- 20:36Speaker 1: So they're really coming out. They's got a big infusion
- 20:38Speaker 1: of money from from many investors got eight months ago.
- 20:42Speaker 1: So UM, I am one of their celebrity designers. Vanessa
- 20:47Speaker 1: Williams is on there as well. Even Longoria's is on
- 20:50Speaker 1: there as well. And UM, very casual line. You know,
- 20:53Speaker 1: I do my red carpets and stuff, but most of
- 20:55Speaker 1: the time I'm home in sweats and run and you know,
- 20:59Speaker 1: managing this same family. And so it's a great line,
- 21:02Speaker 1: very comfortable, very affordable. The price points had to be affordable.
- 21:06Speaker 1: I couldn't I couldn't go to my people, people I
- 21:10Speaker 1: know have in my life, followers fans for thirty some
- 21:12Speaker 1: years with some stuff they couldn't afford. I want to
- 21:15Speaker 1: be able to say, by the whole line, you like
- 21:17Speaker 1: that color, you can get all three. Uh So that
- 21:20Speaker 1: was very important. So this line is doing very well.
- 21:22Speaker 1: I go to Minneapolis and shoot the live shows. I'm learning.
- 21:27Speaker 1: It's a learning process. Stopping network. Uh, muscle is a
- 21:31Speaker 1: different There's a lot of energy you gotta be you
- 21:34Speaker 1: gotta keep the energy up. You gotta you gotta act
- 21:37Speaker 1: like this is the greatest thing. It slice bread, yeah,
- 21:40Speaker 1: and Rashaun. There's all these you know, catchphrases, keywords. It's
- 21:45Speaker 1: a whole business. So I'm relearning that business. And that's
- 21:47Speaker 1: why i want to say to anybody that's listening. You know,
- 21:50Speaker 1: I've been doing this a long time. I'm over fifty now,
- 21:52Speaker 1: and you know people are like, oh, you're an action.
- 21:54Speaker 1: You gotta keep reinventing and relearning. You have to keep
- 21:58Speaker 1: relearning new skill sets and new new economic streams in
- 22:02Speaker 1: your life. It's never too late. Well, you know, that's
- 22:04Speaker 1: what the whole purpose of money making conversations about, and
- 22:06Speaker 1: what I did want to do. Just come over this,
- 22:08Speaker 1: come on the radio with you and interview you and
- 22:10Speaker 1: only talk about TV because I know this is a
- 22:13Speaker 1: stream that's important to your future because it's making money
- 22:16Speaker 1: while you're sleeping. And that's the goal of life. To
- 22:19Speaker 1: make money wife sleeping, That's right, that is the goal.
- 22:22Speaker 1: Um And unfortunately, unfortunately, you know, life requires several income streams.
- 22:28Speaker 1: You just can't have one. Those days are over. I
- 22:31Speaker 1: don't care who you're married to or what. You have
- 22:33Speaker 1: to protect yourself and you have to have that like
- 22:36Speaker 1: you said, money when you're sleeping, you have to have that.
- 22:41Speaker 1: You need to wake up and go how much money
- 22:42Speaker 1: do that make that look like today? And then we
- 22:46Speaker 1: have to teach our kids that. You know, financial literacy
- 22:49Speaker 1: is something that we didn't I didn't learn in school,
- 22:52Speaker 1: so we're not teaching our kids that financial literacy. And now, um,
- 22:57Speaker 1: you know, my kids are online banking. They see what
- 23:01Speaker 1: they're making, they see the interest, they understand. It's really
- 23:04Speaker 1: hilarious explaining taxes to him. They're like, wait, they take
- 23:06Speaker 1: how much? That's what people don't know. Oh, my kids
- 23:10Speaker 1: are like I was like, guess what. See that little paycheck.
- 23:12Speaker 1: My son is working for the Dodgers now that Los
- 23:14Speaker 1: Angeles does great job, amazing. He has special needs, so
- 23:19Speaker 1: it's a huge thing for him to be absolutely absolutely
- 23:21Speaker 1: the special needs unemployment rate is somewhere around so this
- 23:24Speaker 1: is a big deal. He's a young black man. He
- 23:27Speaker 1: gets that paycheck. He's looking at sight us all these acronyms.
- 23:31Speaker 1: He's like, Mommy, what does that mean? I was like, son,
- 23:34Speaker 1: what this means? Google that and I have to explain
- 23:39Speaker 1: to him the one lesson that I did that I
- 23:42Speaker 1: didn't know coming up that when you make a check
- 23:44Speaker 1: and the check is for a thousand dollars you've only
- 23:47Speaker 1: made five hundred, absolutely absolutely, and be happy you made
- 23:50Speaker 1: it because you're working. You're working now. Now this drives
- 23:53Speaker 1: us over to the TV show. Let me get through
- 23:54Speaker 1: why they call the TV show on which I love
- 23:58Speaker 1: the family, because to tell us of a Holly holl
- 24:01Speaker 1: I'm gonna get I'm gonna get that, I'm gonna get
- 24:02Speaker 1: a car, thank you call for Holly Rod Foundation to
- 24:05Speaker 1: get a Christmas cars on all the family. And then
- 24:08Speaker 1: when last year I got a call said I think
- 24:10Speaker 1: I missed you. Yeah, it is call. So tell people
- 24:14Speaker 1: about the show. And also we're gonna have to tag
- 24:16Speaker 1: the Holly Holly Rod Foundation between us. So let's talk
- 24:20Speaker 1: about TV show. Okay, for the show, for Pete's sake,
- 24:23Speaker 1: it's a family reality show. When we pitched it a
- 24:24Speaker 1: couple of years ago to the Own network and other networks,
- 24:27Speaker 1: you pictured as runs House meets Blackish, it was kind
- 24:31Speaker 1: of like a keep it real black folks in the
- 24:33Speaker 1: mostly white neighborhood. But we keep it real. My mom
- 24:37Speaker 1: is in it, my brother is in it. We we
- 24:39Speaker 1: really have um talked about some real topics honest topics
- 24:43Speaker 1: everything from obviously autism, special needs, Parkinson's, my husband's issues,
- 24:48Speaker 1: post football, chronic traumatics, and cept philosophy, which is CTE
- 24:52Speaker 1: and we went there. We've gone to some pretty who
- 24:54Speaker 1: haven't stayed on the safe topics. Um, we talked about
- 24:57Speaker 1: autism and the police. How do we keep are you
- 25:00Speaker 1: young people with special needs safe on the streets from
- 25:02Speaker 1: law enforcement? How do we train them? So I'm very
- 25:05Speaker 1: very happy with the content we had this year. We're
- 25:07Speaker 1: in that moment. You've been there a million times for
- 25:09Speaker 1: Shaw find out if we get picked up. So y'all
- 25:12Speaker 1: go ahead on and and tag the own network, tell
- 25:15Speaker 1: them that you like for pete sake, tell them that
- 25:16Speaker 1: it's okay to have a family reality show that's positive. Well,
- 25:19Speaker 1: you know, you're not gonna be throwing they're not throwing dishes,
- 25:22Speaker 1: they're not spanking their kids, and they're not cussing. Well,
- 25:26Speaker 1: there's a little bit of custom. But but Rashaan, you know,
- 25:31Speaker 1: when we first pitched it, people, oh, it's gonna be
- 25:35Speaker 1: too sweet, it's you know, it's not ratchet enough. Well,
- 25:38Speaker 1: we really, we can take entertainment that's positive, uh, and
- 25:42Speaker 1: and entertaining cool they tend to wrap you up. But
- 25:46Speaker 1: I need to talk about the Hollywright Foundation because so Shaan,
- 25:51Speaker 1: thank you for being such a support. So Hollyrood supports
- 25:53Speaker 1: Parkinson's and autism families. My dad had Parkinson, my son
- 25:57Speaker 1: has autism, UM, and we support them. We help them
- 26:00Speaker 1: find jobs, UM, much like RJ has a job, and
- 26:04Speaker 1: we explain to people what autism is. So autism is
- 26:07Speaker 1: a developmental disorder that really impacts how someone communicates mostly UM.
- 26:13Speaker 1: And autism is a disorder. It's a spectrum disorder, which
- 26:16Speaker 1: means it could be a wide range of things. So
- 26:19Speaker 1: for everybody, autism is not the same for most kids,
- 26:22Speaker 1: and for most children they cannot have a hard time
- 26:25Speaker 1: communicating and they're disconnected. That causes all kinds of issues.
- 26:29Speaker 1: But just because of my son when he was non verbal,
- 26:31Speaker 1: tells me, just because UM, I can respond to you,
- 26:34Speaker 1: doesn't mean I couldn't hear you. Dig that. So we
- 26:37Speaker 1: as a family decided we were we wanted to let
- 26:40Speaker 1: people know, UM what it was like to raise a
- 26:42Speaker 1: kid with autism. And that was one of the important
- 26:44Speaker 1: parts about for Pete's sake, was showing that because if
- 26:46Speaker 1: I had seen an r J when my son was three,
- 26:50Speaker 1: I would have had a lot more hope right now,
- 26:53Speaker 1: now tell them what the foundation does. So what we
- 26:55Speaker 1: do is we we raise funds to support families impacted
- 26:58Speaker 1: by autism and Parkinson's with compassionate care. So that is
- 27:02Speaker 1: in the form of several programs, whether we whether there
- 27:05Speaker 1: are programs to help families and Parkinson's get treatment that
- 27:09Speaker 1: they wouldn't be able to get because they don't have
- 27:11Speaker 1: Medicare and they're waiting on something. For the autism piece,
- 27:14Speaker 1: we do things like UM closed down whole aquariums and
- 27:17Speaker 1: museums just for autism families. We UM have an pre
- 27:21Speaker 1: vocational program, we have an iPad program to help them.
- 27:26Speaker 1: So we do several different programs and we're just really
- 27:28Speaker 1: throw We just did one in Chicago where we shut
- 27:31Speaker 1: down the Shed Aquarium and we invited um uh like
- 27:34Speaker 1: two thousand autism families and we just you know, it's
- 27:37Speaker 1: not about normalizing it ro Sean, but it's about people
- 27:40Speaker 1: understanding what it is. And then we got to get
- 27:43Speaker 1: corporations to hire our kids. Well, that's key, and that's
- 27:45Speaker 1: why I want to make sure that you know, you
- 27:47Speaker 1: know they're doing that big wind up finger but there's
- 27:49Speaker 1: no way. It's something. No, it's important. And it's also
- 27:52Speaker 1: that's why I wants you to educate people because a
- 27:55Speaker 1: lot of people, you know, any type of when they
- 27:57Speaker 1: when they say any functional, mental, functional or yeah, I
- 28:01Speaker 1: always think that that person can't function in real life,
- 28:03Speaker 1: and they can't. And that's what this is all about.
- 28:05Speaker 1: It let me go back and recite everything. She's my
- 28:07Speaker 1: old time friend. She's still beautiful, She's still a fantastic wife,
- 28:11Speaker 1: still a fantastic mom. Please check out her show for
- 28:14Speaker 1: Pete's sake on on she has a closing line clothing
- 28:17Speaker 1: line on Evine Rights Evine Live. Please please please check
- 28:23Speaker 1: it out, you know, please check that out. And more importantly,
- 28:26Speaker 1: understand that Holly Holly Rod Foundation is a foundation for
- 28:30Speaker 1: Parkinson and and she not only believes it, but she
- 28:33Speaker 1: wants to help your children to Congratulations on your awesome show, Rashwan,
- 28:37Speaker 1: and bite me back. I will do my friend. You
- 28:39Speaker 1: know that, Bye bye, love you music sound man, which
- 28:45Speaker 1: means that money making conversations hosted by Rashan McDonald's back.
- 28:48Speaker 1: Ladies and gentlemen, look at him. I'm gonna get straight
- 28:51Speaker 1: to it because I need to talk to her, she's
- 28:53Speaker 1: my girl, knowing over between the years and the business
- 28:56Speaker 1: ladies and gentle money. My next text, guest is that
- 29:00Speaker 1: in double a CP Image Award winning actress love for
- 29:03Speaker 1: her starring roles on the hit sitcom The Steve Harvard
- 29:06Speaker 1: Show in the Game, and we're gonna talk about a
- 29:09Speaker 1: lot of other things that she's storing currently. Please welcome
- 29:11Speaker 1: to Money Making Conversations. Wendy Raquel Robinson. Thank you very much,
- 29:25Speaker 1: Thank you very much. Thank you for calling me. Wendy,
- 29:28Speaker 1: thank you for call. How are you. I'm doing really good.
- 29:31Speaker 1: I'm assuming you in our l A. Yes, I am
- 29:35Speaker 1: at my mama house. Well. Good, Mother's Day was yesterday,
- 29:38Speaker 1: so that's all good. And I hope mom is doing well. Oh,
- 29:41Speaker 1: she's doing great. She's doing great. Yeah, you know, I
- 29:45Speaker 1: don't think about my mom. And she's a strong woman
- 29:47Speaker 1: from Texas, I know. And now you're hard university graduate,
- 29:51Speaker 1: right you guys put all that out there. See, yeah,
- 29:54Speaker 1: everybody got no you know a little history, you know,
- 29:56Speaker 1: you Howard university mama from Texas. She said it out
- 30:00Speaker 1: at regular interviews. That's what money Making Conversations my show. Really.
- 30:03Speaker 1: I'm gonna tell you someone It's really a little bit
- 30:05Speaker 1: different because I know everybody's calling me. If I don't know,
- 30:08Speaker 1: I'm gonna act like I know him. So I'll be
- 30:10Speaker 1: talking about stuff. You know, the publicists, they're gonna they
- 30:13Speaker 1: send you all this information to talk about. We don't
- 30:15Speaker 1: talk about that. But you know what I'm really gonna
- 30:17Speaker 1: be talking about is amazing Grace. You know what I'm
- 30:22Speaker 1: really talking about. Now, let's do what the publicist. Let
- 30:25Speaker 1: me do what the publicists wanted me to do. Let's
- 30:27Speaker 1: talk about what's wrong. You know, you know Ms Thurman,
- 30:31Speaker 1: you know Ms Thurman's don't read that. I got on
- 30:33Speaker 1: the show. I told Ms Thurman, I'm gonna talk about
- 30:36Speaker 1: everything else, but except what I want to talk because
- 30:38Speaker 1: if I told you I want to talk about your
- 30:40Speaker 1: charitable why wow, I don't know that. I don't know
- 30:44Speaker 1: if she gonna get on the radio for that not.
- 30:46Speaker 1: But now I did spend some time on netflick this weekend.
- 30:50Speaker 1: Netflix is my brand now because you got two movies
- 30:53Speaker 1: running strong on Netflix right now. I'm a producer. Talk
- 30:59Speaker 1: about money, make conversations both of them. Absolutely. The first
- 31:04Speaker 1: one is a weekend with the family. Come on, now,
- 31:08Speaker 1: you know that you yellow though. You get O mama though,
- 31:10Speaker 1: let't tell you something. I tell you something. I'm something
- 31:13Speaker 1: because I've seen that with my family, because you know
- 31:15Speaker 1: when you act like you know I was with my mama,
- 31:17Speaker 1: My mama, go where she yet? Because you know I
- 31:20Speaker 1: kept telling you, But I know, Wendy, that ain't hug Mama.
- 31:22Speaker 1: They ain't hug it where yet? My mama, Mama, Mama.
- 31:26Speaker 1: When they go come in and then your body come in,
- 31:29Speaker 1: get O strong nip and see what see. I ain't
- 31:37Speaker 1: gonna say that last night because it's gonna sound like
- 31:40Speaker 1: I'm cussing in the end. But I'm gonna just say stanker, stank.
- 31:43Speaker 1: I want me to stop at stanking because because the
- 31:47Speaker 1: funny part about this movie is that I know everybody
- 31:51Speaker 1: in the damn cast. I know Marcus Houston from Sister Sister.
- 31:56Speaker 1: I know Dorrian Wilson from the Park Cliff and Pile.
- 32:00Speaker 1: He's done so many sick coms with me. I know
- 32:03Speaker 1: I know Chris Stokes, he did the movie You Got Served.
- 32:07Speaker 1: He's directing both and writing both grips. I know everybody.
- 32:11Speaker 1: So it was fun watching you be stupid in the family.
- 32:17Speaker 1: The family. It's really stupid. So that's on Netflix. It's
- 32:20Speaker 1: called A Weekend with the Family and funny. It's funny,
- 32:25Speaker 1: It's funny. Your nickname was Nip. We ain't gonna tell
- 32:30Speaker 1: you why your nickname Nip. But I saw what Clifton
- 32:34Speaker 1: Pope did. We just go stop. But then my mama,
- 32:41Speaker 1: my mama said, hu, baby, did you just touch? Said mama, Mama,
- 32:46Speaker 1: just comedy. It's really right. He commission he had commission
- 32:51Speaker 1: anything for the take of a joke. You know that
- 32:54Speaker 1: in your your hen was out there crazy. Now the
- 32:56Speaker 1: next movie is by boy Boy, Boy Boy. You're an
- 33:03Speaker 1: author of the book boy Bye. Okay, Now now I'm
- 33:08Speaker 1: telling something. You were like, uh, you had a male
- 33:13Speaker 1: mentality when it came to men in this movie. You
- 33:16Speaker 1: know if you saw a man just like every man
- 33:19Speaker 1: though you know your your your high profile real estate executive,
- 33:25Speaker 1: you know, putting your I saw these movies see you.
- 33:27Speaker 1: What can I tell you the truth? I still have
- 33:32Speaker 1: not seen boy By yet. Don't worry. I saw it.
- 33:34Speaker 1: I saw it. I saw I saw I saw I
- 33:37Speaker 1: saw you, I saw you. I saw it. With that
- 33:39Speaker 1: and open this scene, she dragged home board across the
- 33:42Speaker 1: her desk and do some good things to it. Then
- 33:46Speaker 1: you won't guy fixing his tie. That's the openest thing,
- 33:49Speaker 1: that's the open the sty boy. Bye. Then she writes
- 33:52Speaker 1: another book at the end that she gets the title
- 33:55Speaker 1: from her three friends while they druped talking about they
- 33:58Speaker 1: love life and everything. It's watch through both these two movies.
- 34:02Speaker 1: You should watch. Okay, take your filter off, Just take
- 34:05Speaker 1: your filter off and say you know something. I do
- 34:08Speaker 1: want to laugh and see something stupid funny. That is
- 34:11Speaker 1: what this movie. Both of these movies are on Nextflix.
- 34:14Speaker 1: Starting My Girl Brendy and Carroll Robinson. That's on Netflix. Frank, Okay,
- 34:19Speaker 1: now I've gotten so many comments about movies. It's all over,
- 34:24Speaker 1: it's all over the place. It's I was. I've been
- 34:27Speaker 1: watching it. It's so cool to see how your brand
- 34:31Speaker 1: keeps extending, how you keep you know, look at look
- 34:34Speaker 1: at it. We met on Me and the Board. That's
- 34:36Speaker 1: how long we know each other. I'm not gonna put
- 34:38Speaker 1: a year on it, but we met on Me and
- 34:40Speaker 1: the Board. That was Steve Harvey's first show on ABC
- 34:44Speaker 1: and Steve. She plays Steve's love interest. And you have
- 34:48Speaker 1: been working every sense and you and the see that
- 34:53Speaker 1: you have two movies high quality movies on Netflix starring
- 34:58Speaker 1: you the boar by really your movie you are the
- 35:02Speaker 1: like the the comedy anchor to h a Weekend with
- 35:05Speaker 1: the family, and so both those are good. Now you
- 35:09Speaker 1: got a project that you do in l A and
- 35:13Speaker 1: you've been doing it for almost twenty years. No, it
- 35:16Speaker 1: is our twentieth anniversary season. Publicist didn't put that on.
- 35:21Speaker 1: It's right there, it's right there's twenti anniversary. You did that.
- 35:25Speaker 1: Don't be the up, don't be the h Sean McDonald,
- 35:27Speaker 1: I'm kind of still new to this and I want
- 35:29Speaker 1: to like like act like I know everything, but I
- 35:31Speaker 1: should read stuff before open my mouth. But Amazing Grace
- 35:36Speaker 1: Conservatories twentieth anniversary and music reductor you just held hope
- 35:40Speaker 1: in the hood. Please tell everybody this is why I
- 35:43Speaker 1: created money making conversations, so entertainments, to show people a
- 35:46Speaker 1: different side of their lives other than what they see
- 35:49Speaker 1: on screen. Please tell people about Amazing Grace Conservatory. Well,
- 35:54Speaker 1: I did remiss if I didn't tell them your involvement
- 35:56Speaker 1: in it, because you can want to be most amazing
- 36:00Speaker 1: supporters and angels for the organization that mentors young people
- 36:05Speaker 1: ages five to eighteen and acting voice and dance. But
- 36:09Speaker 1: more importantly, we give them the platform to speak their
- 36:13Speaker 1: minds and to beat themselves in a non judgment or
- 36:16Speaker 1: embodment and they can come out and learn the business
- 36:21Speaker 1: of acting and dance and voice and media arts and
- 36:26Speaker 1: spoken words. But at the same time, they get an
- 36:29Speaker 1: opportunity to really be their true, authentic self. You know.
- 36:33Speaker 1: It's a haven away from bullying, it's a haven away
- 36:36Speaker 1: from low self esteem. It's like we knock out all
- 36:39Speaker 1: of that and we just really emerge the true I
- 36:44Speaker 1: want to say, the truth young person that is hiding
- 36:48Speaker 1: behind all of these negativities that are coming their way.
- 36:52Speaker 1: And we utilize the art as a way to do that.
- 36:55Speaker 1: And I'm just really really excited. And this last piece
- 36:58Speaker 1: we did, believe. I wore every head, I wrote it
- 37:03Speaker 1: and produced it, and so I'm not shocked about because
- 37:06Speaker 1: this is your baby. You knows the truest joy. You know,
- 37:12Speaker 1: she says that I play a role in it. You know,
- 37:15Speaker 1: here's the deal is that she knows how I feel
- 37:18Speaker 1: about people trying to make a difference in people's lives.
- 37:21Speaker 1: And every year, at bare minimum, I buy ten scholarships
- 37:26Speaker 1: and really paid off one of my Babies was one
- 37:31Speaker 1: of the stars in Moonlight. I know he played Shyrone
- 37:35Speaker 1: and then um, I mean there's so many great success stories.
- 37:38Speaker 1: We have Esa Gray who's doing the Secure now and
- 37:41Speaker 1: just to see I feel like it's my harvest reason
- 37:45Speaker 1: right now and it's yours too. Absolutely, people people know that,
- 37:50Speaker 1: you know, this is what money making conversations is about,
- 37:52Speaker 1: because like I said, you know, are you beautiful, yes,
- 37:55Speaker 1: are your fantastic comedic actress, yes, but you are changing
- 37:58Speaker 1: lives in the los Ange of this community on a
- 38:01Speaker 1: daily basis with this organization that is twenty years old.
- 38:05Speaker 1: That because because you know, before Roshan McDonald stepped in
- 38:08Speaker 1: and try to help all this is coming out your
- 38:10Speaker 1: pocket and you like donations. Donations help you help more people.
- 38:14Speaker 1: And that's why I'm committed to it and making it bigger.
- 38:17Speaker 1: And you know, my wife and I we really believe
- 38:20Speaker 1: this is something we should be a part of every year.
- 38:23Speaker 1: Now she gets mad at me because I've never visited
- 38:26Speaker 1: the school exactly where this is going. You know, we
- 38:31Speaker 1: could be the little old woman who lives in the
- 38:33Speaker 1: shoe has many I see, I see you posted pictures
- 38:38Speaker 1: like everybody coming by there. But look at girl, long
- 38:41Speaker 1: as you get my check and no, I love you
- 38:45Speaker 1: and know that you change your lives. That's all I
- 38:47Speaker 1: care about. That's all I care. And I appreciate you
- 38:49Speaker 1: and the wife so much. I mean because it's such
- 38:52Speaker 1: a it's such a blessing. You know that you guys
- 38:55Speaker 1: have been to us over the years. That's amazing. Grace Conservatory. Now,
- 38:59Speaker 1: if you want to donate, can you can they donate
- 39:01Speaker 1: to the cars here, Yes, they can. We actually have
- 39:05Speaker 1: a text to donate and we're doing a huge campaign
- 39:09Speaker 1: for our twenty years who are asking you know, a
- 39:12Speaker 1: minimum twenty dollars, two hundred dollars or two thousand dollars
- 39:16Speaker 1: to help us build our own theater. And Stevie Wonder
- 39:21Speaker 1: has already given us to seed money of fifty dollars
- 39:24Speaker 1: so that young people can work in the theater. They
- 39:27Speaker 1: can run the lights, they can run the sounds, they
- 39:29Speaker 1: can do all the projections, and they can have job
- 39:32Speaker 1: training and opportunity before they get out there in the
- 39:35Speaker 1: real world. And it's not even for young people that
- 39:38Speaker 1: want to be in the business. It's because it's seeching
- 39:41Speaker 1: the life skills, so they you know, they got to
- 39:43Speaker 1: learn the house management, they got to learn stage management,
- 39:46Speaker 1: and these are all life skills that can be transferable
- 39:49Speaker 1: in any walk of life that they choose. So I'm
- 39:51Speaker 1: gonna give you that number. Hold on, hold on, let
- 39:54Speaker 1: me give you a text to don't give that come
- 39:58Speaker 1: because this is a great artist that happens. You know,
- 40:02Speaker 1: there's no way you're gonna come on my radio show
- 40:05Speaker 1: and we're not going to talk about this. This is
- 40:08Speaker 1: because of the fact that child at my mama house
- 40:12Speaker 1: stuck it on your full head with some scotch take,
- 40:15Speaker 1: you know, duct taping on your ankles, something like this.
- 40:17Speaker 1: You're talking, you know what this is. This is a
- 40:21Speaker 1: great lesson, and thank you for the money making conversation.
- 40:24Speaker 1: Absolutely absolutely is how you're gonna make some money. If
- 40:26Speaker 1: you don't have the number, memorize, that's right, that's right.
- 40:29Speaker 1: But it's very easy, very very easy. And it's on
- 40:32Speaker 1: our website. I should have just started to here for
- 40:36Speaker 1: our website. Absolutely, okay, it's the website is amazing Grace
- 40:40Speaker 1: Conservatory dot org. One more time, amazing Grace Conservatory dot org.
- 40:46Speaker 1: And if you want to text the domain, that number
- 40:48Speaker 1: is very easy. Three to three six four nine eight
- 40:53Speaker 1: six four nine three to three six nine eight six
- 40:57Speaker 1: four nine and just punching in hash a g C
- 41:04Speaker 1: hashtag whatnot. But more importantly, the website is so easy.
- 41:08Speaker 1: I forgot. I'm just waking up Amazing based Conservatory dot org.
- 41:13Speaker 1: Make a girl. Hey Wendy, First of all, thank you,
- 41:16Speaker 1: thank you for calling on my show. And I want

- 41:21Speaker 1: Sheriff Shepard coming up, and I know she just called in,
- 41:23Speaker 1: so you know, yeah, I can't test. I bumped up.
- 41:27Speaker 1: You know what I'm saying. This is what we're gonna
- 41:28Speaker 1: do when when people we're gonna because he I've already
- 41:35Speaker 1: told I've done the next time I have you call in,
- 41:39Speaker 1: it's just gonna be strictly about this and we're gonna
- 41:42Speaker 1: make it a fundraiser. I'm talking about amazing. That's all
- 41:45Speaker 1: we're gonna do about that. But I had to do well,
- 41:48Speaker 1: she said, so where Sean didn't even talk about nothing.
- 41:50Speaker 1: That stuff I put down, So now I talked about it,
- 41:53Speaker 1: so Chrono, I'm good. She know we're good. So we're
- 41:57Speaker 1: gonna bring you back on the show and that's all
- 41:58Speaker 1: we're gonna talk about. And we're gonna through two hundred
- 42:01Speaker 1: dollars through two thousand dollar donations. Stevie Wonder has already
- 42:04Speaker 1: given the seed money of a fifty dollars jest. Come on, y'all,
- 42:08Speaker 1: let's change the lives in Los Angeles, California again, and
- 42:11Speaker 1: let's change it around the world, because I want to
- 42:13Speaker 1: bring hope to every hood, including Houston. You know what
- 42:16Speaker 1: I mean, I really really do, and that's the intention
- 42:19Speaker 1: of this show that I wrote. You we'll talk about that.
- 42:22Speaker 1: And um, we already headed to Burmingham, so God, it's good.
- 42:27Speaker 1: There you go, Ladies and gentlemen, without further ado, please
- 42:30Speaker 1: welcome and say goodbye to the one only. I'm Windy.
- 42:38Speaker 1: I appreciate you. If I love I love you by
- 42:42Speaker 1: John McDonald and Sean McDonald here with money making conversation. Um,
- 42:47Speaker 1: I'm gonna tell you something my next guest. Um, I
- 42:49Speaker 1: started doing radio with Steve Harvey and two thousands in
- 42:53Speaker 1: Los Angeles, California, and I have been I love with
- 42:59Speaker 1: this music that this young lady has been putting out
- 43:02Speaker 1: over the years, and I feel so fortunate to have
- 43:05Speaker 1: her as a guest on my show. We're gonna laugh
- 43:07Speaker 1: a little bit. We're gonna talk about these tour days,
- 43:09Speaker 1: cities she's on. But more importantly, let me introduce you
- 43:12Speaker 1: my next deest sings the type of music that removes
- 43:14Speaker 1: stress from my life. In the music category, they would
- 43:18Speaker 1: list her as are being sold, but I want to
- 43:20Speaker 1: add that she is jazzy, sultry, seductive, and more importantly,
- 43:24Speaker 1: she's a five time Grammy Award winner. Please welcome to
- 43:28Speaker 1: money making Conversations. Laila Hathaway. Hey, hey, Layla, you're shine.
- 43:35Speaker 1: How you're doing a girl? I'm doing very well. How
- 43:37Speaker 1: about you? Well, I'm gonna tell you something. Thank you
- 43:39Speaker 1: for calling. Um. You know, um, here's the deal. You know,
- 43:45Speaker 1: you know I would do my research. I'm always looking
- 43:47Speaker 1: and make this job to get a little nugget here
- 43:50Speaker 1: and there. And your voice, girl, your voice, that's what
- 43:56Speaker 1: Just you know, we're gonna we're gonna talk about the
- 43:58Speaker 1: live CD because see, you gotta have a voice to
- 44:02Speaker 1: do a live CD, because you know, you can't cheat
- 44:05Speaker 1: because people hearing and then you recording it. So it's
- 44:08Speaker 1: hard to cheat as a live artist. You know that
- 44:11Speaker 1: it's hard to cheat. Lie, It's hard to cheat live
- 44:14Speaker 1: and so it's so But I want to talk about
- 44:16Speaker 1: one of my favorite movies that I thought I was
- 44:18Speaker 1: I was a Nathan your daughter and uh, I've come
- 44:21Speaker 1: from a family and six sisters. So a movie that
- 44:23Speaker 1: was so impactful to me that she was on the
- 44:25Speaker 1: soundtrack was Hidden Figures. Oh, thank you so much. I'm
- 44:28Speaker 1: so proud to be a part of that. I'm gonna
- 44:30Speaker 1: tell you something. I saw the movie. I want to
- 44:32Speaker 1: I'm on the voting voting committee, so they sent it
- 44:35Speaker 1: to me, and I was watching in my house and
- 44:39Speaker 1: and I just grab all my family members and I've
- 44:41Speaker 1: been telling people, you know, I don't, I don't. I
- 44:43Speaker 1: don't send this to nobody, nobody getting a bootleg copy
- 44:46Speaker 1: of what I do. You gotta go see this. And
- 44:49Speaker 1: I remember your song. And and because at the end,
- 44:52Speaker 1: I watched the credits and I'm gonna producer a right,
- 44:54Speaker 1: And I watched credit like a little little guy. Look, kids,
- 45:00Speaker 1: you have to stay in fiel the credits and so
- 45:04Speaker 1: and so when you when you do a movie like that, Okay,
- 45:07Speaker 1: let's talk about before you did the movie, you just
- 45:10Speaker 1: did the soundtrack, did you did you see any clips
- 45:12Speaker 1: of it? And then when the movie airs, you see
- 45:15Speaker 1: that the greatness of that movie. You know for all
- 45:18Speaker 1: called me and said, I'm working on something really important, UM,
- 45:21Speaker 1: I would like you to be a part of it.
- 45:23Speaker 1: I went in and he gave me sort of a
- 45:26Speaker 1: really small synopsis of what the movie is about, and
- 45:28Speaker 1: of course I knew about those women, and I was
- 45:32Speaker 1: so excited that he asked me to be a part
- 45:35Speaker 1: of it. We spent we spent a day um working
- 45:38Speaker 1: on that song, and at certain points in the session
- 45:42Speaker 1: he would say, you know, put yourself in this place,
- 45:43Speaker 1: put in this place, put yourself in this time. And
- 45:47Speaker 1: so to see it really come together at the end
- 45:50Speaker 1: of that movie, I think everything he did for that
- 45:52Speaker 1: movie was so incredible. But I'm so partial to that song.
- 45:55Speaker 1: I really love that song. It's amazing. It's amazing. And
- 45:57Speaker 1: the song we're talking about, ladies and gentlemen is Surrender
- 46:00Speaker 1: and it's on the Hidden Figures soundtrack. If you hadn't
- 46:02Speaker 1: seen that movie, I don't care what color you are.
- 46:05Speaker 1: It's an inspiring movie. It's a garage uh you know,
- 46:09Speaker 1: it's you know, I'm from Houston, Texas, so that you know,
- 46:12Speaker 1: NASA has been a big part of my life. Space
- 46:14Speaker 1: program and to say I was very My degree is
- 46:17Speaker 1: in mathematics by the way, So I knew none of that,
- 46:20Speaker 1: and so it was it was. It was really an
- 46:22Speaker 1: emotional moment for me because I just didn't know. And
- 46:25Speaker 1: I think history is important because it lawyers you to
- 46:29Speaker 1: where you can do in your life. And soulayer too,
- 46:34Speaker 1: And so when I look at your life, you know
- 46:35Speaker 1: you you have a famous name and and and so
- 46:38Speaker 1: that carries some some a lot of expectations. And then
- 46:43Speaker 1: when you when you get to the level of delivering
- 46:45Speaker 1: and you deliver it all the time. And and the
- 46:48Speaker 1: thing about it when you got to the Grammys for
- 46:50Speaker 1: this live CD, and uh, and I'm gonna tell you
- 46:55Speaker 1: when I listened to it, and I'm gonna get to
- 46:57Speaker 1: the Angel in a minut because that's one of my
- 46:59Speaker 1: all time favorites. What would what? What song? Why did
- 47:03Speaker 1: you pick certain songs on it? Thefom Live, you know,
- 47:08Speaker 1: the live the live album we did in one night
- 47:12Speaker 1: over the course of about four hours, so I had
- 47:15Speaker 1: two shows that were both about two hours long. Maybe
- 47:19Speaker 1: a little what about what about it? I actually recorded
- 47:22Speaker 1: the album at the same venue where my father recorded
- 47:26Speaker 1: part of Donny Hathaway Live, which is the Troubador. Yeah,
- 47:31Speaker 1: something a lot of emotions, did a lot of history,
- 47:33Speaker 1: a lot of emotions. Absolutely to be on that stage,
- 47:36Speaker 1: and um, to open my show with a little get
- 47:39Speaker 1: old boy, which I really wanted to do. This is
- 47:41Speaker 1: a dream I've had all my life, was to make
- 47:44Speaker 1: this record, to make a live record like my father's record.
- 47:46Speaker 1: And as a kid, I imagined because you can hear
- 47:49Speaker 1: those people talking to him in that audience, and I
- 47:51Speaker 1: had imagined that, Um the whole what it looked like.
- 47:56Speaker 1: What were they eating, what were they drinking? Were they sitting?
- 47:59Speaker 1: Where they standing? You know, at a time when I
- 48:01Speaker 1: was really a little like eleven, I imagine they had
- 48:04Speaker 1: all had bean bags like I did. Right to be
- 48:08Speaker 1: in that room on that stage was the greatest, greatest
- 48:13Speaker 1: thing ever. Let measure this. I had Paddle the Bell
- 48:15Speaker 1: on the show last week, and she has she's releasing
- 48:18Speaker 1: released last Friday, a jazz a jazz CD and and
- 48:23Speaker 1: I was listening to it and this one thing I
- 48:25Speaker 1: know that I thought, that's Patty. You're still doing Patty.
- 48:29Speaker 1: You know her voice range, and it's the same thing
- 48:31Speaker 1: with you. That's why I mentioned those things that you
- 48:33Speaker 1: are to me. I said, jazz, saltry, seductive, you know,
- 48:39Speaker 1: all those things come out of your voice, and and
- 48:42Speaker 1: that's important for you to hear that because that means
- 48:44Speaker 1: you affect so many people, so many different ways. And
- 48:47Speaker 1: when she told me about the Jazz CD, she said
- 48:49Speaker 1: she wants to do smaller crowds because because jazz is
- 48:52Speaker 1: an intimate that that tone is intimate. So when you
- 48:55Speaker 1: playing ten thousand seeds, you're gonna be doing the super
- 48:58Speaker 1: Dome July one, which is seventy people. When you when
- 49:02Speaker 1: you're in massive events like that and then you're a small,
- 49:04Speaker 1: intim event intimate events, what is the difference and what
- 49:08Speaker 1: is your attitude on stage when you're performing? You know,
- 49:11Speaker 1: I really love the big crowds. I really love the
- 49:14Speaker 1: small crowds. I love being able to put my eyes
- 49:16Speaker 1: on everybody and make eye contact with everybody. Um, what
- 49:20Speaker 1: changed it for me? There was a time when I
- 49:22Speaker 1: thought I liked the smaller because they're more intimate. But
- 49:26Speaker 1: what changed it for me when I actually saw Anita
- 49:28Speaker 1: Baker at Essence and it was all of those people
- 49:34Speaker 1: in the room. Yes, and it felt like we were
- 49:37Speaker 1: in her living room. Yes. Yes, So I know that
- 49:40Speaker 1: Patty knows this too. Any any place that you can
- 49:44Speaker 1: transform into your living room. That's where I want to be,
- 49:47Speaker 1: any place where I have the people feeling comfortable, no
- 49:50Speaker 1: matter how far away they are, that they can hear
- 49:52Speaker 1: the sound of my voice and that they can see me.
- 49:55Speaker 1: UM feels like an intimate room. What is the greatest
- 49:58Speaker 1: gift you think you're your voice? You feel your voice
- 50:01Speaker 1: gives to a to a fan or to a listener.
- 50:04Speaker 1: What's the greatest gift you think it gives to them?
- 50:06Speaker 1: You know, I hope that it's um. Like you said,
- 50:09Speaker 1: it's comfort. It is a transporter. For me. Music is
- 50:14Speaker 1: another person in the room, right, So I hope that
- 50:17Speaker 1: for people that my voice is another person in the
- 50:20Speaker 1: room that they can depend on for whatever it is
- 50:23Speaker 1: that they need. If you need to cry, if you
- 50:25Speaker 1: need to clean up the kitchen, if you need to barbecue,
- 50:28Speaker 1: if you need to drive the kids to school, if
- 50:31Speaker 1: you need to get ready to go out with your girls,
- 50:32Speaker 1: if you've got to go get your hair done, whatever
- 50:34Speaker 1: that thing is. You know, we have music that puts
- 50:38Speaker 1: us in a mood, and I like to create music
- 50:41Speaker 1: for people that that comforts and puts them in the
- 50:44Speaker 1: mood and take them wherever they need to go. Because
- 50:46Speaker 1: that's important. Now let's talk about Angel. Now, Angel, you know,
- 50:50Speaker 1: for me, Angel was Anita Baker. Absolutely Baker. You know, um,
- 50:57Speaker 1: when I hear the start of it, then I hear that,
- 50:59Speaker 1: I hear the music in the background, and then you
- 51:02Speaker 1: start and it's and it's your version, but it's equally
- 51:07Speaker 1: as profound as Anita Baker's version. So when you when
- 51:12Speaker 1: you're doing music that you know has because you know,
- 51:14Speaker 1: because people started singing along with you a little bit
- 51:16Speaker 1: certain verses because they know the song right. You know
- 51:18Speaker 1: that that's what live. That's what I love about live
- 51:21Speaker 1: because live is like, oh my god, live is crazy,
- 51:26Speaker 1: and people don't understand as the performer, I'm gonna past perform.
- 51:28Speaker 1: I know exactly where you act. When you start hearing
- 51:31Speaker 1: people pick up the lyrics, that means that they're feeling
- 51:33Speaker 1: what you are saying exactly. The greatest is sometimes I'll
- 51:38Speaker 1: start the song and they know they know immediately what
- 51:41Speaker 1: it is, so they'll sing the parts I'm singing, and
- 51:44Speaker 1: and they'll switch to the parts Anita sings and then
- 51:47Speaker 1: come back to the parts. I say that they know
- 51:49Speaker 1: the song through and through from both artists. And I
- 51:52Speaker 1: always say that there There's no way I could have
- 51:54Speaker 1: created what I did with that song had had Anita
- 51:58Speaker 1: not left me such a beautiful blueprint to find. That's
- 52:01Speaker 1: what I'm saying, and that's what people. I'm glad you
- 52:03Speaker 1: said that because people don't know. What I'm saying is
- 52:05Speaker 1: that you did your version. It's it's it starts out,
- 52:09Speaker 1: but then you do your version, but you hold the
- 52:10Speaker 1: content of what the song, the essence of what the
- 52:12Speaker 1: song is. And I think that is important to people
- 52:15Speaker 1: understand because a lot of people do a remake of
- 52:17Speaker 1: a song. They just do the same song, and I
- 52:20Speaker 1: think that's cool, that's easy. But boy, when you what
- 52:24Speaker 1: you deal with that song, girl, thank you so much.
- 52:26Speaker 1: I do a lot of covers, you know, and it's
- 52:29Speaker 1: like the Luther cover and come on, and I wouldn't
- 52:33Speaker 1: approach it unless I really loved it and meant to
- 52:37Speaker 1: pay honor to what is there and then try to
- 52:40Speaker 1: take it into a new space. Cool. Literally, we know
- 52:43Speaker 1: it's money to make a conversation later, so I gotta
- 52:45Speaker 1: so if your people won't be mad at me, let's
- 52:47Speaker 1: talk about these tour dates. These tour dates you got
- 52:49Speaker 1: coming up, you know, On Saturday, May twenty something. You're
- 52:54Speaker 1: gonna be at the Concorde at the Stone City Festival, right,
- 52:58Speaker 1: You're gonna be there with the Osley Brothers. Come on that, hey,
- 53:01Speaker 1: the Atlantis Classics cameo Joe Doug e Fresh Now when
- 53:09Speaker 1: you went on the lineup like that. You're gonna be
- 53:11Speaker 1: at the Concord and Concord Pavilion. How do you do?
- 53:16Speaker 1: You just do your thing or you just kind of
- 53:17Speaker 1: adjust to what the Of course I do my thing.
- 53:21Speaker 1: The fide is always real, is always real. Love talking
- 53:26Speaker 1: talking to me, I love talking to you, girl. Is
- 53:29Speaker 1: always going to be real music anywhere you go, and
- 53:34Speaker 1: really black folks are singing and really singing. You're gonna
- 53:37Speaker 1: have a good time. The vibe is real. We don't
- 53:40Speaker 1: have to do anything to adjust to anything because the
- 53:42Speaker 1: crowd wants to have a good time. The crowd wants music.
- 53:45Speaker 1: So you just like carve out your moment. You carve
- 53:47Speaker 1: out your moment. I don't care who follows if you
- 53:49Speaker 1: don't even have to carve it. I mean, how can
- 53:52Speaker 1: you fail on a day with the Asley Brothers? Come on, now,
- 53:57Speaker 1: you can't. There's no way to fail. This is why
- 53:59Speaker 1: these acts have been around. How many how many decades
- 54:01Speaker 1: that they've been making there. You go, you can't you
- 54:06Speaker 1: can't beat that. And then June nine, you're gonna be
- 54:08Speaker 1: at the DC Jazz Festival at the Higher Theater. I

- 54:34Speaker 1: I give you a website that Leyla hath Theway dot com.

- 54:42Speaker 1: that's the name of the game nowadays. Name of the
- 54:44Speaker 1: game nowadays. It has always been the name of my game.
- 54:46Speaker 1: I started my website, which you like Twitter. I wish
- 54:50Speaker 1: I had it was going to be a billion dollar business.

- 55:19Speaker 1: of exciting stuff coming up. I got a record coming

- 56:58Speaker 1: Broadcasting Company. Now, I got Charlie Wilson coming up on
- 57:03Speaker 1: the show. I don't know what happened to David and
- 57:05Speaker 1: Tamila Man, but look at here. When I see David,
- 57:10Speaker 1: I'm gonna kill him because I can't mess with Tim.
- 57:12Speaker 1: She's just you know, she's close. When you do songs
- 57:15Speaker 1: like take Me to the King, you're so close to God.
- 57:19Speaker 1: What you sing like that? You know you just can't
- 57:21Speaker 1: really do anything bad. You know, you just gotta say,
- 57:23Speaker 1: I just look at the real met, real real me,
- 57:26Speaker 1: scratch my eyes real and just look at a real
- 57:28Speaker 1: met because I know that she's special, and I know
- 57:31Speaker 1: that David special. And as a couple, they've been married
- 57:34Speaker 1: so long in this business. I think that's important to
- 57:37Speaker 1: people understand. And the fact that they've got two television shows,
- 57:40Speaker 1: I think it's crazy. That's Steve Harvey Lower. You started
- 57:43Speaker 1: getting more than two shows. You're Steve Harvey Lower. And
- 57:47Speaker 1: that's what the Man is trying to do their own tour.
- 57:49Speaker 1: I'm gonna promote them anyway. Let me let me go
- 57:51Speaker 1: to their page. They were they didn't call in, but
- 57:52Speaker 1: I'm gonna tell y'all everything that's going on in the
- 57:54Speaker 1: man's life. David and Tamila Man. They have a new
- 57:57Speaker 1: series on TV one called The Man's Then they have
- 58:02Speaker 1: the show still on bouts. It's still a bounce called
- 58:06Speaker 1: Man and Wife. Now I'll need to ask David is
- 58:10Speaker 1: he's still trying to do stand up? That's why I
- 58:12Speaker 1: need to ask. Are watching one of his shows and
- 58:14Speaker 1: he walked on stage and he did stand up and
- 58:16Speaker 1: was surprised. He was funny. I don't know why because
- 58:18Speaker 1: you just look at the dude and you start laughing.
- 58:21Speaker 1: But I need to know about that. Of course, you know.
- 58:24Speaker 1: Tam was currently promoting her latest album One Way. One
- 58:28Speaker 1: of the album's songs is God Provides and she want
- 58:31Speaker 1: to Grammy early this year. I'm teassing forward when it
- 58:35Speaker 1: I got two Emmies. That ain't easy. They ain't just
- 58:39Speaker 1: giving that away like popcorn. You went a Grammy. You
- 58:42Speaker 1: have entered another dimension of success in your life. What
- 58:46Speaker 1: you're doing? All the fellas, what's going on? Who's on? Hole? David?
- 58:50Speaker 1: The hole? I should stop talking about. Okay, look at
- 58:52Speaker 1: I'm gonna bring him up because he probably tired of
- 58:54Speaker 1: me talking about ladies and gentleman. The stars of two
- 58:57Speaker 1: TV shows on networks, don't TV one one on the Bounce.
- 59:02Speaker 1: I love both of them. Please workom to starve the
- 59:04Speaker 1: Man's and the star man and wife David Man, Come on, David,
- 59:08Speaker 1: where you have baby? Both of us are here. Take
- 59:13Speaker 1: me to the king, chill on him. I'm gonna tell
- 59:18Speaker 1: y'all something. Man. If y'all had the two regular superstars
- 59:22Speaker 1: I've ever made my life. I ain't met nobody else.
- 59:25Speaker 1: Y'all special man, But y'all just regular people. Y'all eat
- 59:27Speaker 1: corn bread, black et, peas, all that good stuff. That's
- 59:30Speaker 1: why I like about you. I tell you something. Do
- 59:36Speaker 1: y'all eat oxtails? David to come on that, See what
- 59:41Speaker 1: I'm saying. I we did. I didn't, but I don't
- 59:43Speaker 1: eat them. Now you just stop eating as a kid. Okay,
- 59:48Speaker 1: I'm still I'm not a fan. Okay, I'm an oxtail man.
- 59:50Speaker 1: I'm just gonna tell you. I'm gonna tell you, Yeah,
- 59:52Speaker 1: I'm gonna tell you how even more country I am.
- 59:54Speaker 1: I eat chiplings. I you too, and I but you
- 1:00:00Speaker 1: know my favorite would be the hall mall. Girl, girl,
- 1:00:06Speaker 1: you don't say a nothing like that publicly. You don't
- 1:00:08Speaker 1: say another hogball that don't know about know nothing about that,
- 1:00:12Speaker 1: don't nobody know nothing about that, don't know about know
- 1:00:14Speaker 1: that the cogball? Come on, not don't know about that.
- 1:00:18Speaker 1: Now let me just let me let me get serious
- 1:00:20Speaker 1: with y'all, because, first of all, thank you for calling
- 1:00:22Speaker 1: money making conversations. I'm on the phone with the one
- 1:00:24Speaker 1: on David and Tamla man Um. These folks I've seen these.
- 1:00:28Speaker 1: I remember the first time I got I got Tamla
- 1:00:31Speaker 1: to do the Neighborhood Awards for I got David to
- 1:00:33Speaker 1: do the Neighborhood Wards, you know, so I have a
- 1:00:35Speaker 1: longer relationship with her that I have with her because
- 1:00:40Speaker 1: she was you know, you know, I don't know what
- 1:00:42Speaker 1: took him so long to do the Neighborhood Awards, but
- 1:00:44Speaker 1: when he got hooked, he couldn't stop doing it. But
- 1:00:48Speaker 1: you got to TV shows on right now? That's congratulations.
- 1:00:51Speaker 1: Can I get some some fake round of applause there?
- 1:00:53Speaker 1: Come on, y'all, tell me about both TV shows and
- 1:00:59Speaker 1: then I'm gonna go down and talk about the Man
- 1:01:02Speaker 1: Family Tour. We're gonna get a lot of stuff in here,
- 1:01:04Speaker 1: and it's just a short amount of time. Tell me
- 1:01:06Speaker 1: about both TV shows and how are they doing well?
- 1:01:08Speaker 1: The first The first is our reality show, The Man.
- 1:01:12Speaker 1: The Man's is on TV one, on TV one there
- 1:01:15Speaker 1: and anybody who knows the whole Man told me know
- 1:01:19Speaker 1: that any little thing can turn into a big thing
- 1:01:22Speaker 1: with us, right so you put us in any situation
- 1:01:25Speaker 1: and it gets totally blown out of proportion. And that's
- 1:01:28Speaker 1: what you see this season is some of the stuff
- 1:01:31Speaker 1: like like last week's episode was you know, we had
- 1:01:35Speaker 1: a problem with the women thinking that they could do
- 1:01:37Speaker 1: our job and they had a problem with they and
- 1:01:40Speaker 1: we could do their jobs. So we kind of did
- 1:01:43Speaker 1: were over versals and it just went downhill from there
- 1:01:46Speaker 1: and they were some let me message this David, Now,
- 1:01:51Speaker 1: that's the show I saw you do stand up on right? No, No,
- 1:01:54Speaker 1: that was that was the ye. Well yeah on the
- 1:01:57Speaker 1: Man's did the reality you just now are you still
- 1:02:01Speaker 1: doing stand up? And that was just one off. No,
- 1:02:03Speaker 1: I'm doing stand up all around the country now. So
- 1:02:06Speaker 1: that's with the Man's Family Tour. Yeah, the Man's Family Tour. Yeah,
- 1:02:10Speaker 1: we're traveling and stand up everywhere. Okay, to tell me
- 1:02:13Speaker 1: about the Man Family Tour now, okay, listen up, everybody.
- 1:02:16Speaker 1: The Man Family Family, the Man's Family Tour is the
- 1:02:20Speaker 1: whole Man Family. When you watch the show, you see
- 1:02:23Speaker 1: some of the characters, David Jr. You see kids, right,
- 1:02:26Speaker 1: And so we opened it up with David Jr. He's
- 1:02:29Speaker 1: a DJ. He gets the party start and the whole
- 1:02:32Speaker 1: the whole theme of the deal is it's not just
- 1:02:34Speaker 1: the party, it's not just it's not just comedy. It's
- 1:02:37Speaker 1: not just a concert, but it's a samily experience experience.
- 1:02:41Speaker 1: So so it's kind of like vaudeville a variety show.
- 1:02:45Speaker 1: Could I say that, Yes, it is truly a variety show.
- 1:02:49Speaker 1: The thing is, it's for everybody. It's for the whole
- 1:02:52Speaker 1: entire Okay, you know me, I'm producers. This sounds like
- 1:02:55Speaker 1: show number three. Well we sound just like showing number
- 1:03:01Speaker 1: We're already on the road, We're already doing it. But
- 1:03:03Speaker 1: I'm talking about TV show. I'm talking about this sound
- 1:03:06Speaker 1: like a TV show. Well, you know, David's gonna host,
- 1:03:09Speaker 1: and then you know you're gonna have different singers, different comedians,
- 1:03:13Speaker 1: different little sketches and things like that. Not now, that's
- 1:03:17Speaker 1: because it's not on TV right now. Ever, since Day's
- 1:03:19Speaker 1: Chapperal left, nobody's been doing that like that. And you
- 1:03:22Speaker 1: and David you know you can do that. Brother, You dude,
- 1:03:26Speaker 1: you're walking out there with them ugly pants on. They tight.
- 1:03:29Speaker 1: People just start laughing. Man, I'm gonna tighten. It's your
- 1:03:32Speaker 1: classes and builds with those tight lug your pants and
- 1:03:35Speaker 1: they just give it to you when you get to
- 1:03:36Speaker 1: the TV show. That's why I want to know, No, no,
- 1:03:38Speaker 1: we this is just us she won't let me walk
- 1:03:43Speaker 1: around with like that now. So he's actually he's doing
- 1:03:46Speaker 1: stand up as himself. David Man beautiful. It's not beautiful.
- 1:03:52Speaker 1: He's shotting on his own. And when I tell you
- 1:03:55Speaker 1: he is, so he's I have to say it because
- 1:03:59Speaker 1: not just because he's my but this dude is funny.
- 1:04:02Speaker 1: But you can say both ways because you can say
- 1:04:05Speaker 1: both ways because he's your husband any funny because I've
- 1:04:08Speaker 1: seen him both ways. I've seen him as your husband
- 1:04:11Speaker 1: laugh and I've seen him just as David and laughed.
- 1:04:14Speaker 1: So so I don't know how you're trying to separate
- 1:04:16Speaker 1: the two, because I'll beat y'all hook to the hook. Okay, Now,
- 1:04:20Speaker 1: I gotta ask you just one question because you're talking
- 1:04:22Speaker 1: about Mr Brown, and I gotta bring up a guy,
- 1:04:25Speaker 1: you know who who's I think it's important in industry
- 1:04:27Speaker 1: and has changed the game. And i'd like to know that.
- 1:04:30Speaker 1: Tyler Perry. What what important has he been to you
- 1:04:34Speaker 1: guys career? Tyler Perry, Well, I mean it was he was.
- 1:04:38Speaker 1: I thought it was it was. I thought it was
- 1:04:39Speaker 1: a great part of our journey, you know, just as
- 1:04:42Speaker 1: as Kirk Frankland was with Kirk Franklin and the family
- 1:04:47Speaker 1: and then going to the plays and stuff. So they
- 1:04:49Speaker 1: both played a great, big part of our careers and
- 1:04:52Speaker 1: you know, we thank God for it. But it's kind
- 1:04:55Speaker 1: of like the rocket booster. It's like you can have
- 1:04:57Speaker 1: people that's in your life and then all of a sudden,
- 1:05:00Speaker 1: you know, you got so you have to get up
- 1:05:02Speaker 1: and you just everybody get their own things. And I
- 1:05:05Speaker 1: think that's important. That's why I created money making Conversations
- 1:05:08Speaker 1: because of the fact that it allows people to see,
- 1:05:11Speaker 1: you know, to last as long as you guys last,
- 1:05:14Speaker 1: there has to be a thought process into it. In
- 1:05:15Speaker 1: other words, you guys basically said, okay, they gave us
- 1:05:18Speaker 1: a boost, but we just couldn't hang around. We had
- 1:05:21Speaker 1: to evolve. And that's all I've seen is you guys evolved.
- 1:05:24Speaker 1: And the thing that always has amazed me. I remember
- 1:05:27Speaker 1: when he was at the Hoodie Awards and I gave
- 1:05:29Speaker 1: and Steve you asked Tamila to come and do an
- 1:05:32Speaker 1: acapella of take Me to the King, and that thing
- 1:05:35Speaker 1: went viral. I mean, she don't do nothing that me, Me,
- 1:05:42Speaker 1: Me Me. She just starts singing, that's crazy. How do
- 1:05:47Speaker 1: you do that? I mean, I mean David. She's the
- 1:05:50Speaker 1: same way she talked about I'm not saying he's funny
- 1:05:53Speaker 1: because he's my hud and he's funny. You probably say,
- 1:05:56Speaker 1: I'm not saying she can say because she my wife.
- 1:05:58Speaker 1: I'm just telling you you're funny. You could sing. Both
- 1:06:00Speaker 1: of y'all need to shut up, to shut up, both
- 1:06:04Speaker 1: of y'all fools, because y'all ain't the name. Y'all that yo.
- 1:06:08Speaker 1: But it's about the cousin, about the cousin. But I
- 1:06:10Speaker 1: realized I'm talking to somebody close to God. I'm talking
- 1:06:13Speaker 1: about somebody to car the Tamler close to God, and
- 1:06:16Speaker 1: you don't want to lose your hook up. You know.
- 1:06:19Speaker 1: She wanted the people that when I get to that point,
- 1:06:22Speaker 1: I'm gonna start. I'm gonna start listening to people I
- 1:06:24Speaker 1: know that was good to that was good to God,
- 1:06:26Speaker 1: Kurt Franklin and London Adams, Tamler. I ain't gonna say
- 1:06:30Speaker 1: your name, David. I ain't gonna say your name, but
- 1:06:32Speaker 1: I'm gonna say Tamlin name. I'm gonna say Tamlin name.
- 1:06:35Speaker 1: I'm gonna say Donnie mcclerk, I'm gonna say a lot
- 1:06:38Speaker 1: of I'm gonna say a lot of good people, because see,
- 1:06:41Speaker 1: I've done some things that God might look at me,
- 1:06:44Speaker 1: he might squitch at me. So I gotta hold on
- 1:06:47Speaker 1: to the people who I know God things good and
- 1:06:50Speaker 1: Tamla you one of them, because take Me to the
- 1:06:53Speaker 1: King not only brought me back, brought me back, it
- 1:06:57Speaker 1: brought a millions back. Girl talk to me? Who yes? So,
- 1:07:01Speaker 1: I mean, you know, I think God for taking to
- 1:07:03Speaker 1: the King. And it's like, even with the album that
- 1:07:06Speaker 1: we're doing that I have now one way and the
- 1:07:10Speaker 1: couseing wrote another phone for me, God province and I
- 1:07:13Speaker 1: just feel like it was the answer to take it
- 1:07:15Speaker 1: to the King after you give everything and take it
- 1:07:18Speaker 1: off to God that he if we just trust him,
- 1:07:21Speaker 1: he'll provide for us. And it's just really been a blessing,
- 1:07:24Speaker 1: you know, to be able to bring hope and inspiration
- 1:07:27Speaker 1: to people. And I that's my thing is I just
- 1:07:30Speaker 1: want to keep bringing hope and inspiration. That it's not
- 1:07:33Speaker 1: over until God says it's over. That's for all of us.
- 1:07:36Speaker 1: She didn't say that. The Grammy Award winning song again Humble,
- 1:07:43Speaker 1: I'm so sick of that, I Love You called my show.
- 1:07:46Speaker 1: I'm gonna tell the world I'm on the phone with
- 1:07:49Speaker 1: David and Tamila man dynamically to the best husband and
- 1:07:54Speaker 1: wife entertainment team in the world. Right now, people need
- 1:07:57Speaker 1: to understand you. People need to understand. You know, I've
- 1:08:00Speaker 1: been doing this a long time. You know I've been
- 1:08:02Speaker 1: doing this a long time. And Okay, what's that? Gotta
- 1:08:05Speaker 1: go to the break? Oh, can y'all hang out for
- 1:08:08Speaker 1: the break? Y'all gotta go because because ce y'all crazy,
- 1:08:12Speaker 1: and y'all called late anyway, because I had a lot
- 1:08:14Speaker 1: of things to talk about. But but what I just
- 1:08:16Speaker 1: can't hang up on hub David, I hang up on
- 1:08:19Speaker 1: you because you ain't got nothing to do with God
- 1:08:22Speaker 1: right now from the conversation to get me in because see,
- 1:08:25Speaker 1: I gotta get in. So if y'all hang off, we're
- 1:08:28Speaker 1: gonna be right back with the funniest the singing this
- 1:08:33Speaker 1: couple in the history of African American after the African
- 1:08:37Speaker 1: American You know that, you know Oz and Ozzie Davis
- 1:08:39Speaker 1: and Rufe Lee that back in the day, that was
- 1:08:41Speaker 1: that first couple, y'all. The whole New world, the whole
- 1:08:44Speaker 1: New World. I hope you'll understand it's not joking. I'm
- 1:08:47Speaker 1: not joking. Now you get that music in the background
- 1:08:49Speaker 1: because you I'm just tell you this. People need to understand.
- 1:08:52Speaker 1: Go see that tour. People need to saying watch those
- 1:08:54Speaker 1: TV shows you're watching. Real God is good to these
- 1:08:57Speaker 1: two people, because guess what they're good to y'all. We'll
- 1:09:01Speaker 1: be right back with money making conversations. David and Tamila
- 1:09:04Speaker 1: Man say special, So this good looking back money making conversations.
- 1:09:09Speaker 1: We had to come real back, real fast, real back,
- 1:09:11Speaker 1: real back, real fast, real back, real real back, real fast,
- 1:09:14Speaker 1: real back. Okay, cool because I got on a whole
- 1:09:16Speaker 1: David and Tamila Man, David and town Man, you're still there, Okay, cool,
- 1:09:21Speaker 1: we can. We got a little time because I just
- 1:09:23Speaker 1: you know, first of all, I know you'll got another
- 1:09:25Speaker 1: call at the bottom of the hour. And here's a deal. Um,
- 1:09:30Speaker 1: I've watched you guys. The first time I met David
- 1:09:34Speaker 1: was doing the Bishop T. D. Jake's in Atlanta when
- 1:09:39Speaker 1: Steve did his very first uh uh the Gospel the
- 1:09:43Speaker 1: Christian Um Special Coming Special Coming spect. The first time
- 1:09:47Speaker 1: I met David and um, and I didn't know who
- 1:09:50Speaker 1: he was, you know, all, I know that everywhere he
- 1:09:52Speaker 1: went he drew a crowd. He drew a crowd, and
- 1:09:56Speaker 1: Steve didn't even know who he was really, you know,
- 1:09:59Speaker 1: and like, who is this guy? So even way back then,
- 1:10:03Speaker 1: you know you had a gift man that that this
- 1:10:05Speaker 1: drew people to you naturally. And then when I finally
- 1:10:08Speaker 1: met Tamla, understood why you were special because you gotta
- 1:10:12Speaker 1: have the one thing I know about life is that
- 1:10:16Speaker 1: you gotta have special people around you to maintain a
- 1:10:19Speaker 1: special vibe. Because one thing I like about you, David,
- 1:10:22Speaker 1: is that you're not You're very understated until you till
- 1:10:26Speaker 1: those lights come on. Those lights come on, Brother, you're
- 1:10:28Speaker 1: a different cat man, You're a different cat and you
- 1:10:31Speaker 1: could you understand you're different cat and the lights come
- 1:10:33Speaker 1: on showtime, you better step step aside and be ready
- 1:10:36Speaker 1: to perform. Asked that, asked Lavilla Crawford at the Hood
- 1:10:39Speaker 1: Awards when he thought he could do when he thought
- 1:10:43Speaker 1: he could do you. And then I saw you at
- 1:10:46Speaker 1: the at the NFL with my boy John Gray when
- 1:10:49Speaker 1: he thought he could do you. He thought he could
- 1:10:51Speaker 1: do you with some jokes and he realized he needs
- 1:10:53Speaker 1: to shut up real quick because he was with a professional,
- 1:10:57Speaker 1: a legendary professional. Now, tell us about and the Man
- 1:11:00Speaker 1: Family Tour so we can get people out there, so
- 1:11:03Speaker 1: buying tickets for this so people can start, you know,
- 1:11:06Speaker 1: googling it so it could be aware of this special
- 1:11:08Speaker 1: opportunity to David and Tamila Man. This is the family
- 1:11:11Speaker 1: experience the tour that it starts off with David Man Junior.
- 1:11:17Speaker 1: He's a DJ. He comes out and sets the tone
- 1:11:20Speaker 1: for the party, and so everybody comes in and their part,
- 1:11:23Speaker 1: and then Killa the Baby Girls, she does a a
- 1:11:26Speaker 1: neo soul type style, just you know, for the younger generation.
- 1:11:30Speaker 1: And then I come out and I do comedy. I
- 1:11:32Speaker 1: do like an hour of stand up and I want
- 1:11:35Speaker 1: you doing an hour, not David. I do hour Man.
- 1:11:39Speaker 1: He's just natural. Man. I'm not shocked. I'm just I'm
- 1:11:41Speaker 1: not shocked because guess what how much money you left
- 1:11:43Speaker 1: on the table all these years. You need to slap him, Tamila,
- 1:11:45Speaker 1: because you should have been doing it ten years ago
- 1:11:48Speaker 1: he left. I would say millions, because then you can
- 1:11:50Speaker 1: slap him real hard. He leaves left millions on the table,
- 1:11:55Speaker 1: and yes, and then I come out and do an hour,
- 1:11:57Speaker 1: and then Cab comes and take his home and see
- 1:12:01Speaker 1: if the whole deal it's a production. We we with
- 1:12:04Speaker 1: the lights and the big screen, the big led screams,
- 1:12:08Speaker 1: and the show is interactive and it's something for the
- 1:12:10Speaker 1: whole family. When I say the show is interactive, you
- 1:12:13Speaker 1: kind of the the back screens become a part of
- 1:12:16Speaker 1: the comedy. Screens become yea, do you pre recorder skits
- 1:12:22Speaker 1: that you do? Are do some Yeah, I do some
- 1:12:26Speaker 1: stuff that that brings the screens and makes them a
- 1:12:28Speaker 1: part of my story. Wow, and you get to kind
- 1:12:30Speaker 1: of yeah, it makes my stories pop out more. And
- 1:12:34Speaker 1: then with Tamla's music, you see the screens and it
- 1:12:38Speaker 1: becomes a part of the music and the song. So
- 1:12:41Speaker 1: we're trying to present something that can make our genre,
- 1:12:44Speaker 1: you know, we can represent it well. And so it's
- 1:12:47Speaker 1: the whole for the whole family. So check the Man's
- 1:12:51Speaker 1: to dot com and find out when we're coming to
- 1:12:53Speaker 1: a city UNI ww dot You know, for old people,
- 1:12:56Speaker 1: you gotta put that w w W because they don't
- 1:12:59Speaker 1: know what you're talking to, boyd, So you need to
- 1:13:00Speaker 1: stop acting like you you got old people comes to y'all? Okay,
- 1:13:04Speaker 1: church people, Yeah, if we do, we have everybody, everybody, everybody,
- 1:13:09Speaker 1: everybody got comes to y'all because guess what, y'all don't
- 1:13:11Speaker 1: come y'all family entertainment. That's why I'm talking about your
- 1:13:14Speaker 1: special see because you know y'all like y'all like black Disney,
- 1:13:17Speaker 1: Disney Lane. You know what I'm saying, because anybody he
- 1:13:20Speaker 1: comes to y'all. You know all y'all missing is the mouse.
- 1:13:24Speaker 1: All y'are missing is the bu If y'all get a
- 1:13:25Speaker 1: black mouse, girl, million, you are hilarious. Million, Get the
- 1:13:33Speaker 1: black mouse. Get David Jr. To come DJ and looking
- 1:13:36Speaker 1: like a mouse, he tell telling, Get David jur Is
- 1:13:44Speaker 1: that David were about to take millions, go in that
- 1:13:47Speaker 1: room and come out looking like a rat. Let's talk
- 1:13:55Speaker 1: about Let let me let me slide over to the
- 1:13:57Speaker 1: Grammy Award winner, the Grammy Award or winner that tell
- 1:14:01Speaker 1: us about this new CD, Young Lady the City the
- 1:14:05Speaker 1: CD One Way. I mean, it's really been a wonderful
- 1:14:08Speaker 1: year for us this year with one of Grammy with
- 1:14:11Speaker 1: God provides the single for the double A c P
- 1:14:15Speaker 1: and we won six sell Awards. It's just it's been amazing.
- 1:14:19Speaker 1: But it's a it's an album for everybody. It's something
- 1:14:22Speaker 1: for everybody. And I just come a tapped in and did.
- 1:14:27Speaker 1: I worked with Timberland on this album. Kirk Franklin produced
- 1:14:31Speaker 1: on the album, Eric Dawkins, and of course my main producer,
- 1:14:35Speaker 1: my brother and even my husband produced. My son produced
- 1:14:38Speaker 1: on the album. So it's well, it's well rounded that
- 1:14:42Speaker 1: I have something for young and old on the album.
- 1:14:44Speaker 1: The new single it's changed me that we have on there,
- 1:14:48Speaker 1: and it's just I'm just in amazement. I'm in all
- 1:14:51Speaker 1: right now of you know how God is just really
- 1:14:55Speaker 1: blessed on us, but we we take no credit. It's
- 1:14:58Speaker 1: all glory goes for God for everything that he's doing.
- 1:15:01Speaker 1: But we're just trying to encourage everybody, you know, aspiration.
- 1:15:07Speaker 1: But you know, but you give credit though, so that
- 1:15:09Speaker 1: that's that's the key though. See a lot of people
- 1:15:11Speaker 1: just take credit, don't give our credit. And I think
- 1:15:13Speaker 1: that's when people make a mistake because you're not doing
- 1:15:16Speaker 1: this by yourself. And then when what you what you
- 1:15:18Speaker 1: think you are, then you're gonna fall. And when you fall,
- 1:15:22Speaker 1: then you can't get up sometimes and if you get up,
- 1:15:24Speaker 1: it's who's gonna help you up? And the thing I
- 1:15:27Speaker 1: like about YouTube is that you'll understand relationships. You'll understand
- 1:15:31Speaker 1: that Okay, you know, look at this is the journey.
- 1:15:34Speaker 1: They're gonna have some ups and when those downs come,
- 1:15:37Speaker 1: who can I count on to support me? And that's
- 1:15:40Speaker 1: what That's what I love about both of you. That's
- 1:15:42Speaker 1: what I love about both of y'all, you know. And
- 1:15:44Speaker 1: that and that look that that look at the longevity
- 1:15:47Speaker 1: of it, you know, I look at the longevity of
- 1:15:48Speaker 1: y'all marriage, you know, in this business, that's that's amazing.
- 1:15:52Speaker 1: And you know, and I've heard David Bragg about it
- 1:15:54Speaker 1: a cup of town. I don't think you're bragg about
- 1:15:55Speaker 1: it enough because I know how rough it is because
- 1:15:58Speaker 1: you're traveling. I'm just talking about just a the wear
- 1:16:00Speaker 1: and tear. I'm not talking about anything now. It's just
- 1:16:02Speaker 1: the wear and tear of what entertainment business does to
- 1:16:06Speaker 1: you physically. And it also actually, you could be in
- 1:16:10Speaker 1: the room with somebody that you care about and don't
- 1:16:12Speaker 1: even feel like looking at him because you're just tired.
- 1:16:15Speaker 1: You're just tired, you know. We we we definitely make
- 1:16:19Speaker 1: we you know. And one thing that we say, we're
- 1:16:21Speaker 1: working on a marriage book now it's called it working
- 1:16:23Speaker 1: is not adoption, right. We in the book we tell
- 1:16:26Speaker 1: people to make your marriage a prod. How do you
- 1:16:30Speaker 1: do that? How do you? How do you do that?
- 1:16:31Speaker 1: How do you do that? David Tamla? Because some people
- 1:16:33Speaker 1: need to hear this is money making conversation. But now
- 1:16:36Speaker 1: now as a you know, relationship. Yeah, yeah, you went there. Now, Okay,
- 1:16:42Speaker 1: but I'm talking literally to see. I told you, Tamla,
- 1:16:45Speaker 1: I tell you what he does. Now, see, I I
- 1:16:47Speaker 1: gotta keep talking to you. You talked, David, I told
- 1:16:51Speaker 1: you what he's gonna do. He gonna go there because
- 1:16:52Speaker 1: he's a comedian, he gonna go there. Okay, go ahead, David.
- 1:16:56Speaker 1: We definitely make sure you know a lot of people
- 1:16:59Speaker 1: are how do y'all bad this business? With that? And miss,
- 1:17:02Speaker 1: we don't balance our marriage and our relationship with this business.
- 1:17:05Speaker 1: Our marriage and relationship, for outweighs anything we'll ever do
- 1:17:09Speaker 1: in this business. And so that's because we make our
- 1:17:12Speaker 1: marriage the number one priority. Everything else is second too
- 1:17:17Speaker 1: when it comes to our marriage. See, we I give
- 1:17:21Speaker 1: her my undivided attention. She gets my attention. She's my priority,
- 1:17:25Speaker 1: and the same the third I'm her priority. And so
- 1:17:28Speaker 1: that's how we last week we celebrated twenty nine years
- 1:17:31Speaker 1: of marriage. That's how when years now, you see that. Okay,
- 1:17:39Speaker 1: now what I mean, we're still enough, We're still having
- 1:17:42Speaker 1: a good time, and you know we I think it's
- 1:17:45Speaker 1: just to encourage other people that they can do it too.
- 1:17:48Speaker 1: If you know, God has no respect to person. If
- 1:17:50Speaker 1: he did it for us, he can do it for you.
- 1:17:53Speaker 1: I'm watching your kiss on TV, you know, show like
- 1:17:57Speaker 1: five of y'all. If I show five kisses in our
- 1:18:00Speaker 1: role on TV right here on that bounce show, y'all
- 1:18:02Speaker 1: smooching on bounds, I can tell you all right now,
- 1:18:04Speaker 1: y'all smooching on So So now where is the tour going?
- 1:18:14Speaker 1: How many days too? You're playing? I'm talking about the
- 1:18:16Speaker 1: Man Family too, y'all. This the tour that everybody should
- 1:18:18Speaker 1: be watching, everybody should be attending again, and that has
- 1:18:22Speaker 1: no age group restrictions. Is not a defensive isn't a
- 1:18:25Speaker 1: family entertainment one of the few experiences you can go
- 1:18:28Speaker 1: where you can take Because I'm gonna tell you some
- 1:18:30Speaker 1: Ringling Brothers and barn and baby closes. You know, a
- 1:18:32Speaker 1: lot of family entertainments on the road is closing. Now.
- 1:18:35Speaker 1: You know you can't go see these comedy tours, you know,
- 1:18:38Speaker 1: because they ain't there for the kids. You know, I
- 1:18:41Speaker 1: know when I did the tour where I accurd Franklin Steve,
- 1:18:43Speaker 1: I produced that tour the best tours I've experienced in
- 1:18:46Speaker 1: my life. What I saw, what you were talking about,
- 1:18:49Speaker 1: because families need something to do. So please let everybody
- 1:18:52Speaker 1: know basically, you know the whole tour. Where is it going?
- 1:18:58Speaker 1: Is it on the road right now? And I'm not
- 1:19:00Speaker 1: trying to put you on the spot. I do want

- 1:19:50Speaker 1: say one to a hundred every un I'm gonna try
- 1:19:54Speaker 1: to get your to hunt. I'm gonna climb over a

- 1:20:00Speaker 1: what be looking at. I'm gonna see if I can
- 1:20:02Speaker 1: you know, my liver go out and be praying against
- 1:20:04Speaker 1: somebody else's level, I'm gonna be I'm gonna make it
- 1:20:07Speaker 1: to a hugger. I might not make it with all
- 1:20:08Speaker 1: my organs. They might not. I might not be an
- 1:20:11Speaker 1: original McDonald, but I'm gonna get to a huntry. I
- 1:20:14Speaker 1: might have an eye transplant lip you can take my lip,
- 1:20:18Speaker 1: but I'm gonna make it to a hug I might
- 1:20:19Speaker 1: not be a cutable looking dude at a hundred, well,

- 1:22:23Speaker 1: everybody got to know you know a little history, you know,
- 1:22:25Speaker 1: you Howard university Mama from Texas. She said, don't get
- 1:22:28Speaker 1: out of regular interviews. That's what money making conversations my show. Really,
- 1:22:32Speaker 1: I'm gonna telling someone it's really a little bit different
- 1:22:35Speaker 1: because I know everybody's calling me. If I don't know,
- 1:22:37Speaker 1: I'm gonna act like I know him. So I'll be
- 1:22:39Speaker 1: talking about stuff. You know. The publicist they're gonna they
- 1:22:41Speaker 1: send you all this information to talk about. We don't
- 1:22:43Speaker 1: talk about that. But you know what I'm really gonna
- 1:22:46Speaker 1: be talking about is amazing grades you know what I'm
- 1:22:50Speaker 1: really talking about. Now, let's do what the publicist. Let
- 1:22:54Speaker 1: me do what the publicists wanted me to do. Let's
- 1:22:56Speaker 1: talk about what's wrong. You know, you know Ms Thurman,
- 1:23:00Speaker 1: you know Ms Thurman's don't read that out on the show.
- 1:23:02Speaker 1: I told Ms. Thurman, I'm gonna talk about everything else,
- 1:23:05Speaker 1: but except when I want to talk. Because if I
- 1:23:07Speaker 1: told you I want to talk about your charitable why, wow,
- 1:23:11Speaker 1: I don't know that. I don't know if she's gonna
- 1:23:13Speaker 1: get on the radio for that. No, but not. I
- 1:23:15Speaker 1: did spend some time on netflick this weekend. Netflix is
- 1:23:20Speaker 1: my brand now because you got two movies running strong
- 1:23:23Speaker 1: on Netflix right now, isn't that crazy. I'm a producer
- 1:23:27Speaker 1: talk about money making conversations, both of them. Absolutely. The
- 1:23:32Speaker 1: first one is a weekend with the family. Come on, now,
- 1:23:37Speaker 1: you know that you yello though you get o. Mama though,
- 1:23:39Speaker 1: let me tell you something. I'm tall something, I'm something
- 1:23:42Speaker 1: because I've seen that with my family, because you know
- 1:23:44Speaker 1: when you act like you know I was with my mama.
- 1:23:46Speaker 1: My mama, go wait yet, because you know I kept
- 1:23:48Speaker 1: telling it. But I know Whendy that ain't hubbed Mama,
- 1:23:51Speaker 1: They ain't hug it. Wait yet, my mama, Mama, Mama,
- 1:23:55Speaker 1: when they go come in and then your body come in,
- 1:23:58Speaker 1: get oh strong nil and dingo. See see see. I
- 1:24:06Speaker 1: ain't gonna say that land last name because it's gonna
- 1:24:08Speaker 1: sound like I'm cussing in the end, but I'm gonna
- 1:24:10Speaker 1: just say stanker, stank. I want me to stop it
- 1:24:13Speaker 1: stanking because because the funny part about this movie is
- 1:24:18Speaker 1: that I know everybody in the damn cast. I know
- 1:24:22Speaker 1: Marcus Houston from Sister Sister. I know Dorrian Wilson from
- 1:24:27Speaker 1: the Park of Clifton Pie. He's done so many sick
- 1:24:30Speaker 1: comes with me. I know, I know uh, Chris Stokes,
- 1:24:34Speaker 1: he did the movie You Got Served. He's directing both
- 1:24:37Speaker 1: and writing both grips. I know everybody. So it was
- 1:24:41Speaker 1: fun watching you be stupidly. It's really stupid. So that's
- 1:24:48Speaker 1: on Netflix. It's called a Weekend with the Family, and
- 1:24:51Speaker 1: it's funny. It's funny. Your nickname was Nip. We ain't
- 1:24:58Speaker 1: gonna tell you why your nickname Nip. But I saw
- 1:25:02Speaker 1: what Clifton Poe did. We just go stop. But then
- 1:25:09Speaker 1: my mama, my mama said, baby, did you just touch?
- 1:25:14Speaker 1: Said mama, Mama, just comedy. It's really right. He commission
- 1:25:17Speaker 1: he had commission anything for the take of a joke.
- 1:25:21Speaker 1: You know that in your hand, your hand was out
- 1:25:24Speaker 1: there crazy. Now the next movie is by Boy Boy
- 1:25:29Speaker 1: Boy By Boy By. You're an author of the book
- 1:25:33Speaker 1: boy By. Okay, now now I'm tell you something. You
- 1:25:38Speaker 1: were like, uh, you had a male mentality when it
- 1:25:43Speaker 1: came to men in this movie. You know, if you
- 1:25:46Speaker 1: saw a man that's just like every man though there's
- 1:25:48Speaker 1: a weakness, you know, your your your high profile real
- 1:25:52Speaker 1: estate executive, you know, putting your conel. I saw these movies.
- 1:25:55Speaker 1: See what can I tell you the truth? I still
- 1:26:00Speaker 1: have not seen Boy yet. Everybody, don't worry. I saw it.
- 1:26:03Speaker 1: I saw it. I saw, I saw, I saw, I
- 1:26:05Speaker 1: saw you, I saw you. I saw with saw and
- 1:26:08Speaker 1: opening scene, she dragged home board across to her desk
- 1:26:12Speaker 1: and do some good things too. If he won't Guy
- 1:26:15Speaker 1: fixing his tie. That's the openest thing that's open the
- 1:26:19Speaker 1: sty boy By. Then she writes another book. At the
- 1:26:22Speaker 1: end that she gets the tile from her three friends
- 1:26:24Speaker 1: while they drunk talking about they love life and everything.
- 1:26:28Speaker 1: Watching both these two movies, you should watch. Okay, take
- 1:26:32Speaker 1: your filter off, Just take your filter off. And so
- 1:26:36Speaker 1: you know something, I do want to laugh and see
- 1:26:37Speaker 1: something stupidly funny. That is what this movie. Both of
- 1:26:41Speaker 1: these movies are on Nextflix. Start My Girl. Brendy and
- 1:26:45Speaker 1: Carroll Robinson that's what Netflix. Frank, Okay, I've gotten so
- 1:26:49Speaker 1: many comments about it's all over. It's all over the
- 1:26:53Speaker 1: places I was. I've been watching it. It's so cool
- 1:26:58Speaker 1: to see how your brad keep extending, how you you know,
- 1:27:02Speaker 1: look at look at We met on me and the board.
- 1:27:05Speaker 1: That's how long we know each other. I'm not gonna
- 1:27:07Speaker 1: put a year on it, but we met on me
- 1:27:09Speaker 1: and the board. That was Steve Harvey's first show on
- 1:27:12Speaker 1: ABC and uh Steve. She played Steve's love interest. And
- 1:27:17Speaker 1: you have been working every sense and you in the
- 1:27:21Speaker 1: see that you have two movies, high quality movies on
- 1:27:25Speaker 1: Netflix starring you. The boar By is really your movie.
- 1:27:30Speaker 1: You are the like the the comedy anchor to uh
- 1:27:33Speaker 1: A Weekend with the Family, and so both those are good.
- 1:27:37Speaker 1: Now you got a project that you do in l
- 1:27:40Speaker 1: A and you've been doing it for almost twenty years. No,
- 1:27:45Speaker 1: it is anniversary season. Didn't put that on. It's right there,
- 1:27:50Speaker 1: It's right there's anniversary. She did that. Don't beat up,
- 1:27:54Speaker 1: don't beat the ru Sean McDonald. I'm kind of still
- 1:27:57Speaker 1: new to this and I want to like like act
- 1:27:59Speaker 1: like I know a thing, but I should read stuff
- 1:28:01Speaker 1: before over my mouth. But Amazing Grace Conservatories twin anniversary
- 1:28:06Speaker 1: of music with du you just held hope in the hood.
- 1:28:09Speaker 1: Please tell everybody this is why I created money making
- 1:28:12Speaker 1: conversations so entertainments, to show people a different side of
- 1:28:15Speaker 1: their lives other than what they see on screen. Please
- 1:28:18Speaker 1: tell people about Amazing Grace Conservatory. Well, I be remiss
- 1:28:23Speaker 1: if I didn't tell them your involvement in it, because
- 1:28:26Speaker 1: you can one of the most amazing supporters and angels
- 1:28:30Speaker 1: for this organization that mentors young people ages five to
- 1:28:35Speaker 1: eighteen and acting, voice and dance. But more importantly, we
- 1:28:40Speaker 1: give them the platform to speak their minds and to
- 1:28:42Speaker 1: beat themselves in a non judgment or embronment and they
- 1:28:46Speaker 1: can come out and learn the business of acting and
- 1:28:52Speaker 1: dance and voice and media arts and spoken words. But
- 1:28:56Speaker 1: at the same time they get an opportunity to really
- 1:28:59Speaker 1: be their who authentic self. You know. It's a haven
- 1:29:03Speaker 1: away from bullying, it's a haven away from no self esteem.
- 1:29:07Speaker 1: It's like we knock out all of that and we
- 1:29:09Speaker 1: just really emerged the true I want to say, the
- 1:29:14Speaker 1: truth young person that is hiding behind all of these
- 1:29:18Speaker 1: negativities that are coming their way, and we utilize the
- 1:29:22Speaker 1: aren't as a way to do that. And I'm just
- 1:29:25Speaker 1: really really excited. And this last piece we did, people
- 1:29:28Speaker 1: believe I wore every hat, I wrote it and produced it,
- 1:29:33Speaker 1: and so I'm not shocked about because this is your baby,
- 1:29:36Speaker 1: you know, baby baby, the truest joy. You know, she
- 1:29:41Speaker 1: says that I play a role in it. You know,
- 1:29:43Speaker 1: here's the deal is that she knows how I feel
- 1:29:47Speaker 1: about people trying to make a difference in people's lives.
- 1:29:50Speaker 1: And every year, at bare minimum, I buy ten scholarships
- 1:29:55Speaker 1: and that has really paid off. One of my babies
- 1:29:59Speaker 1: was um one of the Stars and Moonlight. I know,
- 1:30:03Speaker 1: he played Shyrone and then Um. I mean there's so
- 1:30:06Speaker 1: many great success stories. We have Easa Gray who was
- 1:30:09Speaker 1: doing the Secure now and just to see I feel
- 1:30:12Speaker 1: like it's my harvest reason right now and it's yours too.
- 1:30:15Speaker 1: About people. People know that. You know, this is what
- 1:30:19Speaker 1: money making conversations is about, because like I said, you know,
- 1:30:22Speaker 1: are you beautiful, yes, are your fantastic comedic actress yes,
- 1:30:26Speaker 1: but you are changing lives in the Los Angeles community
- 1:30:29Speaker 1: on a daily basis with this organization that is twenty
- 1:30:32Speaker 1: years old. That because because you know, before Roshan McDonald
- 1:30:36Speaker 1: stepped in and try to help hop all this is
- 1:30:38Speaker 1: coming out in your pocket and you like donations. Donations
- 1:30:41Speaker 1: help you help more people. And that's why I'm committed
- 1:30:44Speaker 1: to it and making it bigger. And you know, my
- 1:30:47Speaker 1: wife and I we really believe this is something we
- 1:30:49Speaker 1: should be a part of every year. Now she gets
- 1:30:52Speaker 1: mad at me because I've never visited the school exactly
- 1:30:58Speaker 1: where this is going. You know, we could be the
- 1:31:00Speaker 1: little old woman who lives in the shoe has so
- 1:31:02Speaker 1: many I see, I see you posted pictures like everybody
- 1:31:07Speaker 1: coming by there. But look at girl lords you get
- 1:31:10Speaker 1: my check and no, I love you and know that
- 1:31:14Speaker 1: you change your lives. That's all I care about. That's
- 1:31:16Speaker 1: all I care. And I appreciate you and the wife
- 1:31:19Speaker 1: so much. I mean because it's such a it's such
- 1:31:22Speaker 1: a blessing. You know that you guys have been to
- 1:31:25Speaker 1: us over the years. That's amazing. Conservatory. Now, if people
- 1:31:28Speaker 1: want to donate, can you can they donate to the
- 1:31:31Speaker 1: cars here? Yes they can. We totally have a text
- 1:31:35Speaker 1: to donate and we're doing a huge campaign for our
- 1:31:38Speaker 1: twenty years. Who are asking you know, a minimum twenty
- 1:31:41Speaker 1: dollars two hundred dollars or two thousand dollars to help
- 1:31:45Speaker 1: us build our own theater. Awesome, and Stevie Wonder has
- 1:31:50Speaker 1: already given us to see money of fifty dollars so
- 1:31:53Speaker 1: that young people can work in the theater. They can
- 1:31:56Speaker 1: run the lights, they can run the sounds, they can
- 1:31:58Speaker 1: do all the projections, and they can have job training
- 1:32:02Speaker 1: and opportunity before they get out there in the real world.
- 1:32:05Speaker 1: And it's not even for young people that want to
- 1:32:07Speaker 1: be in the business. It's because it's seeching the life skills.
- 1:32:11Speaker 1: So they you know, they got to learn the house management,
- 1:32:13Speaker 1: they got to learn stage management, and these are all
- 1:32:15Speaker 1: life skills that can be transferable in any welcome life
- 1:32:19Speaker 1: that they choose. So I'm gonna give you that number.
- 1:32:21Speaker 1: Hold on, hold on, let me give you a text
- 1:32:24Speaker 1: to donate number. Give that girl come because this is
- 1:32:27Speaker 1: a great you know, there's no way you're gonna come
- 1:32:32Speaker 1: on my radio show and we're not going to talk
- 1:32:34Speaker 1: about this. This is this is so important to me
- 1:32:37Speaker 1: because of the fact that my mama house stuck it
- 1:32:42Speaker 1: on your full head with some scotch tap, you know,
- 1:32:44Speaker 1: duct taping on your ankles something like this. You're talking
- 1:32:46Speaker 1: to you know what this is. This is a great lesson,
- 1:32:50Speaker 1: and thank you for the money making conversation. Absolutely absolutely
- 1:32:54Speaker 1: that you're gonna make some money if you don't have
- 1:32:55Speaker 1: the number, memorize. That's right, that's right. But it's very easy,
- 1:33:00Speaker 1: very very easy. And it's on our website. I should
- 1:33:03Speaker 1: have just started there for our website. Absolutely, okay, it's
- 1:33:07Speaker 1: The website is amazing Grace Conservatory dot org. One more time,
- 1:33:12Speaker 1: Amazing Grace Conservatory dot org. And if you want to

- 1:33:24Speaker 1: three six nine eight six four nine and just punching
- 1:33:28Speaker 1: hashtag a g C twenty hashtag whatnow? But more importantly,
- 1:33:35Speaker 1: the website is so easy. I forgot. I'm just waking
- 1:33:38Speaker 1: up Amazing Grace Conservatory dot org. I'm making girl. Hey Wendy,

- 1:33:57Speaker 1: This is what we're gonna do. He went, were gonna
- 1:34:00Speaker 1: because I've already told I've done the next time I
- 1:34:07Speaker 1: have you call in, it's just gonna be strictly about
- 1:34:09Speaker 1: this and we're gonna make it a fundraiser. I'm talking
- 1:34:12Speaker 1: about amazing gas. That's all we're gonna do about that.
- 1:34:15Speaker 1: But I had to do well, she said, so where
- 1:34:18Speaker 1: ru Sean didn't even talk about none of that stuff
- 1:34:19Speaker 1: I put down, So now I talked about it. So Chern, no,
- 1:34:23Speaker 1: I'm good. She know we're good. So we're gonna bring
- 1:34:26Speaker 1: you back on the show, and that's all we're gonna
- 1:34:27Speaker 1: talk about. And we're gonna go two hundred dollars or
- 1:34:30Speaker 1: two thousand dollars donations. Stevie Wonder has already given a
- 1:34:33Speaker 1: seed money of a fifty tho dollar chet. Come on, y'all,
- 1:34:36Speaker 1: let's change their lives in Los Angeles, California again, and
