- 1:32Speaker 1: I she's my good Fami. She's been at my house Yana, Yes,
- 1:36Speaker 1: eating what you fad me banana putting. That's right. And
- 1:39Speaker 1: I thought I was gonna come in here and there
- 1:41Speaker 1: was gonna be another one. No no, no, no no no,
- 1:44Speaker 1: because we're not that. I must not be family if
- 1:46Speaker 1: you bring me another path your family. But that's what
- 1:48Speaker 1: you do with family, see, because family keep expecting things
- 1:51Speaker 1: and don't, as they say, reciprocate because I have you know,
- 1:57Speaker 1: I have fame, supposedly have money that comes with that fame.
- 2:00Speaker 1: So people just always want me to go in one direction,
- 2:03Speaker 1: but they never if you if I give you a
- 2:05Speaker 1: turkey leg, I want a turkey leg back. Okay, First
- 2:07Speaker 1: of all, you have to take what you First of all,
- 2:09Speaker 1: you can't you can't take what people don't have. I
- 2:11Speaker 1: don't have a turkey leg to give you. I can't
- 2:13Speaker 1: make a pie because I don't know how to make
- 2:15Speaker 1: a pie. But I'm here in your building and your
- 2:17Speaker 1: nice studio, here with the man with a good beer
- 2:19Speaker 1: and you. I'm just like you know, they don't don't
- 2:20Speaker 1: don't tell people with the case hear me talk. You know,
- 2:26Speaker 1: I want the ladies to know that Rushan has surrounded
- 2:28Speaker 1: himself with some really handsome men, nice man with a
- 2:32Speaker 1: good beer and Adam, I told him not I can
- 2:34Speaker 1: be his eve. And this man right here, hey, when
- 2:37Speaker 1: you set your name day with that good gap of
- 2:40Speaker 1: his teeth down, he's lost sixteen pounds, by the way,
- 2:44Speaker 1: you better fool off that way. And like a man
- 2:47Speaker 1: with a good gaping team because I have one to
- 2:50Speaker 1: he's you know, he's making that famous. He is the
- 2:52Speaker 1: gap is famous. The Texas Southern University boy not on
- 2:57Speaker 1: ABC good morning in America, and I believe that man
- 2:59Speaker 1: is single. Now, well, I don't know about it all
- 3:01Speaker 1: that I'm not gonna get into that because of the
- 3:03Speaker 1: fact that all I'm doing is trying to do a
- 3:05Speaker 1: show called Money Making Conversation and you as a solo preneurs,
- 3:09Speaker 1: which you stand up comedy person is. But let's go
- 3:12Speaker 1: back because see when I when I because I talked
- 3:14Speaker 1: about this because my degree is in mathematics and uh,
- 3:18Speaker 1: you know, graduate from University Houston and work with to
- 3:21Speaker 1: work for IBM. So I enjoyed that corporate experience. And
- 3:25Speaker 1: I talked to a lot of millennials and my through
- 3:27Speaker 1: my show, through my media social media platforms, and so
- 3:30Speaker 1: I always want to let them know there's a journey
- 3:32Speaker 1: to what you do, but also let them know that
- 3:34Speaker 1: just because you die in this path don't mean you
- 3:36Speaker 1: have to stay down this absolutely So tell us about
- 3:39Speaker 1: your academics and then your corporate experience. O Lord. So,
- 3:42Speaker 1: first of all, I went to Georgia Southern University. I
- 3:44Speaker 1: went on a scholarship, and I will tell you when
- 3:46Speaker 1: I went to Georgia Southern University, I had no idea
- 3:48Speaker 1: what I wanted to do with my life. I did
- 3:50Speaker 1: get accepted to Clark Atlanta. My mother, in her mind,
- 3:52Speaker 1: she didn't want me to go to Clark Atlanta. If
- 3:54Speaker 1: I could be very frank, and I know it's a
- 3:56Speaker 1: lot of HBCU graduates and attendees out there. But my
- 3:58Speaker 1: mother was like, Babe, you already black. I need you
- 4:01Speaker 1: to go into the world and figure out how the
- 4:02Speaker 1: rest of the world work. So we're not gonna send
- 4:04Speaker 1: you to the good Clock Atlanta. But I love you guys.
- 4:06Speaker 1: And then she said, if you don't go to Clark Atlanta,
- 4:08Speaker 1: although you have a scholarship, I would buy your car.
- 4:10Speaker 1: So where did I go? But Georgia Southern University. With
- 4:14Speaker 1: that car, brand new, spanking car, I put the first
- 4:16Speaker 1: mile on. So I went to Georgia Southern University not
- 4:19Speaker 1: really sure what I wanted to do. I started with
- 4:21Speaker 1: so many different you know majors. I was a c
- 4:23Speaker 1: I S. Major, thinking I wanted to, you know, write
- 4:25Speaker 1: culture computer information system. Lets. Well I found that real quick.
- 4:32Speaker 1: Then my mind don't work like that. You know what
- 4:34Speaker 1: I'm saying. I'm not a programmer, Like I'm not that
- 4:36Speaker 1: person that could sit in the dark and write cold
- 4:38Speaker 1: and half the time I didn't know it. Look, I
- 4:40Speaker 1: went to my teacher. I was like, this is not
- 4:41Speaker 1: for me, and my teacher said, your grade, say so degree.
- 4:47Speaker 1: And then, you know, I went through so many things.
- 4:49Speaker 1: I just knew that I wanted a business degree. So
- 4:51Speaker 1: to be honest with you, I ended up graduating with
- 4:53Speaker 1: a marketing degree. And at first I was kind of
- 4:55Speaker 1: feeling some kind of way about it because I thought
- 4:57Speaker 1: a marketing degree was too soft in skills. But I
- 5:00Speaker 1: used my marketing marketing degree every day since I've graduated
- 5:05Speaker 1: from college. And when I graduated from college, I got
- 5:07Speaker 1: a and I must say this everybody just listening, I
- 5:10Speaker 1: actually took the L sad. I took the L side
- 5:12Speaker 1: and decided that I did not want to go to
- 5:14Speaker 1: law school just because you know, it just wasn't again.
- 5:17Speaker 1: I have not some of the lawyer's gonna be out
- 5:19Speaker 1: there like what you mean, I have a big personality.
- 5:23Speaker 1: I didn't want to be into in a courtroom, nor
- 5:26Speaker 1: did I have the desire to go to law school.
- 5:28Speaker 1: After I took the L side, I was like, this
- 5:30Speaker 1: ain't me either. So what I did is I took
- 5:32Speaker 1: a job. I went to work with Sony via the
- 5:34Speaker 1: computers and I was trained people. I was in front
- 5:37Speaker 1: of people, you know, upper lower, management, sales, reps, all
- 5:40Speaker 1: different type of people, even consumers. I trained people on
- 5:43Speaker 1: the viol computers. I was in charge of launching new
- 5:45Speaker 1: product and in certain in the market, Atlanta specifically, and
- 5:48Speaker 1: then eventually I moved to Houston with Samsung. Now Samsung
- 5:52Speaker 1: Telecommunications was an amazing opportunity for me because I ran
- 5:55Speaker 1: I managed the team. I managed to jokes, managed the
- 5:59Speaker 1: four largest territory in the United States. Yes, Kana dancing,
- 6:03Speaker 1: those are my receipts. So when I went to um
- 6:05Speaker 1: he was staying, I had no idea again that I
- 6:07Speaker 1: was even funny. Now, Shane, I'll tell you this. People
- 6:10Speaker 1: used to tell me all the time, you are so funny.
- 6:12Speaker 1: Oh my god, Oh my god, you should, Oh my god,
- 6:15Speaker 1: it happened to me too. Oh my crying. One lady
- 6:17Speaker 1: actually paid her pants, you know, because I was telling her,
- 6:21Speaker 1: I was telling jokes. I had no idea. I was like,
- 6:26Speaker 1: ps off this little chow. So what I did, I'm
- 6:28Speaker 1: gonna tell you. I was working in the Houston market.
- 6:31Speaker 1: I was and I started doing stand up because I
- 6:33Speaker 1: was going through a breakup and anybody's listening to me,
- 6:35Speaker 1: I want you to hear me clearly. I used comedy
- 6:38Speaker 1: to heal myself. Hole I went through it. I was
- 6:40Speaker 1: in a relationship for ten years from nineteen and twenty nine,
- 6:44Speaker 1: and that man, although I loved him. I loved that
- 6:46Speaker 1: man so much. I would have married him on the bike.
- 6:48Speaker 1: But he couldn't keep a job, so he couldn't feed me.
- 6:50Speaker 1: So mama had to go some money. So from there
- 6:57Speaker 1: I chowed money. So I actually when I my first
- 7:02Speaker 1: time on stage, um, I started doing stand up just
- 7:06Speaker 1: like Open Mike, you know, hig goes, you know, but
- 7:08Speaker 1: doing real estate and Texas to I got my real
- 7:10Speaker 1: estate license in two thousand six six. Actually, I got
- 7:15Speaker 1: my real estate license in two thousand six so that
- 7:17Speaker 1: I can sell myself my own home. Um, I was
- 7:19Speaker 1: in Houston. I was renting, and that's not okay with
- 7:22Speaker 1: my mother. My mother always told me to have your own.
- 7:25Speaker 1: There is a real estate agent. Also, we're partners, so
- 7:27Speaker 1: she was like, hey, baby, let's say something. You can't
- 7:29Speaker 1: continue to pay somebody else's mortgage. You need to own
- 7:31Speaker 1: your own and pay and pay into yourself. Because the
- 7:34Speaker 1: best thing for a woman specifically is to have to
- 7:37Speaker 1: build wealth by real estate because they're not creating any
- 7:40Speaker 1: more land. So once you buy the land, even if
- 7:43Speaker 1: you got a nice or raggedy house, you can tear
- 7:45Speaker 1: the house down. But that's because that's what they'd call
- 7:49Speaker 1: come on now. So I literally I studied the took
- 7:53Speaker 1: the real estate test. I told myself the house me,
- 7:57Speaker 1: and then that was my commission. And then from there,
- 8:00Speaker 1: you know, I started talking to young women like you
- 8:02Speaker 1: need to buy a house. Stop stop on you know,
- 8:04Speaker 1: renting on your own, okay. And then I started doing
- 8:08Speaker 1: stand up. I was in the open mix, and then
- 8:10Speaker 1: you know, Monique, Monique was at the improv the Good
- 8:14Speaker 1: Improcue Oscar winning Monique was in the improv in Houston, Texas.
- 8:18Speaker 1: Long story short, I was making people laughing out in
- 8:20Speaker 1: her line and her show, and she told me, hey, lady,
- 8:23Speaker 1: do you tell jokes? I said no, I never have.
- 8:25Speaker 1: She said, well, next time I see you, I want
- 8:27Speaker 1: you to have told me that you've been on stage.
- 8:29Speaker 1: She wrote her number down and on that day I
- 8:32Speaker 1: started doing stand up, but I never called her. Okay, okay,
- 8:36Speaker 1: now let's talk. We're going about to go to break,
- 8:39Speaker 1: so we got we know you're done, really, you know
- 8:40Speaker 1: you're educated, educated, and we know you're willing to you
- 8:43Speaker 1: don't fear change. I don't okay, you you bought your home.
- 8:47Speaker 1: I did kept the commission because when you sold it
- 8:49Speaker 1: to yourself, So you understand how to make money retain money.
- 8:53Speaker 1: You don't you know different between love and financial love
- 8:56Speaker 1: and no security security. So you would tell us all
- 9:00Speaker 1: in the line of what money making conversations. So you
- 9:03Speaker 1: delivered that motivation and financial leadership portion. When we come back,
- 9:07Speaker 1: we're gonna get that balanced life out of you. Don't
- 9:09Speaker 1: go nowhere. You listen to money Making Conversations Canada Dancing. Wow,
- 9:15Speaker 1: we're having a fantastic show here on money Making Conversations
- 9:18Speaker 1: hosted by me. You ras Sean McDonald the one in owner.
- 9:21Speaker 1: Letna start saying the one in only with Sean McDonald
- 9:23Speaker 1: because I can say that on my show. Sitting next
- 9:25Speaker 1: to me. She's live in studio. You know she's trying
- 9:28Speaker 1: because she's like George Waller, because Charge Wallace came in
- 9:31Speaker 1: my studio. He kind of tried to take over everbody
- 9:33Speaker 1: trying to take over your shower, you know, because but
- 9:35Speaker 1: you know you you flirt with all my staffs. They
- 9:38Speaker 1: all like you to co host a TV one, which
- 9:42Speaker 1: has been renewed for a second season. Tell us about that,
- 9:45Speaker 1: because it was your biggest um um entertainment moment in
- 9:51Speaker 1: your career so far, and there would be other big ones.
- 9:53Speaker 1: What were the changes first when you were when you
- 9:55Speaker 1: were selected and what happened to changes with popularity? Because
- 9:59Speaker 1: you know you do lease a degree of privacy, do
- 10:02Speaker 1: you do so I have to balance life. You know
- 10:06Speaker 1: that's a heavy question. Okay, Well, first of all, I
- 10:10Speaker 1: just want to say this that I would not be
- 10:12Speaker 1: here if it was not for God, and thank you
- 10:14Speaker 1: Jesus that he saw me worthy. And I will tell
- 10:17Speaker 1: you anything that you want. You can absolutely put. You know,
- 10:19Speaker 1: you can make some plans, but if it's not meant
- 10:21Speaker 1: for you, God gonna change some plans for you. You You understand.
- 10:24Speaker 1: But my my work life balance has changed in that
- 10:27Speaker 1: I'm not naturally a morning person. So for me as
- 10:30Speaker 1: a stand up comedian, honey, I'm going to bed at four.
- 10:33Speaker 1: Now I'm waking up at four. I have to be
- 10:35Speaker 1: up in hair and make up. I have to be ready.
- 10:36Speaker 1: I have to be perfect, have to be alert. And
- 10:39Speaker 1: the people want you to talk, so you make your
- 10:41Speaker 1: mouth work. I've got to be open, you know what
- 10:43Speaker 1: I'm saying. So at the end of the day, if
- 10:46Speaker 1: at the very least, that's the biggest thing that I've
- 10:48Speaker 1: had to change is my lifestyle. You know, I'm eating.
- 10:52Speaker 1: You have to eat properly because you gotta look pretty
- 10:54Speaker 1: when you're on TV. You gotta make sure, yes, she
- 10:57Speaker 1: is pretty, honey. But you know, you gotta make sure
- 10:59Speaker 1: you look it feel good inside so you can look
- 11:01Speaker 1: good outside. UM. I also would say that, you know,
- 11:04Speaker 1: people do recognize me. I was in the airport last
- 11:07Speaker 1: night and then someone I felt him looking at me,
- 11:09Speaker 1: and I didn't you know. It was so awkward. I
- 11:12Speaker 1: was just like, do you know me? He was like,
- 11:13Speaker 1: I do, and I want to ask you for an autograph,
- 11:15Speaker 1: but I'm shine And I was like, well you just
- 11:16Speaker 1: said what you won't wear the paper right And I'm
- 11:20Speaker 1: walking through the airport and I will tell you I
- 11:21Speaker 1: don't look at myself as a celebrity. UM. I love
- 11:24Speaker 1: when people approach me. I have no qualms with that.
- 11:26Speaker 1: I want you to know that I'm a real person.
- 11:29Speaker 1: So people, you've always been like I always have been,
- 11:31Speaker 1: Like when I wasn't talking to you, but you was
- 11:33Speaker 1: gonna talk to me, you know, and I said, listen,
- 11:38Speaker 1: let me tell you something. I know you don't know
- 11:39Speaker 1: who I am, but you're gonna listen. My mama Area
- 11:42Speaker 1: told me I'm somebody. Now you don't need to get
- 11:44Speaker 1: on board. True, but it was a good time. It's
- 11:48Speaker 1: a good time, a good place to be here. Um,
- 11:50Speaker 1: I'm right you said. This has been one of the
- 11:52Speaker 1: biggest accomplishments in my career. But I've done a lot
- 11:55Speaker 1: of things. I was the first after for the first
- 11:57Speaker 1: female celebrity remaster for that. No no, no, no, no,
- 12:03Speaker 1: don't ever. I love Universal Studs. In fact, that was going.
- 12:06Speaker 1: I had to bring that up because you have to
- 12:08Speaker 1: be talented to control those like because they weren't. They
- 12:13Speaker 1: weren't coming that for the elephant. I didn't know what
- 12:16Speaker 1: they expects for the circus because I was like a
- 12:17Speaker 1: black circus when they're gonna have chickens. I'm being real, patty.
- 12:20Speaker 1: But then tell you that circus is amazing and if
- 12:23Speaker 1: you have never seen that, you better now that because
- 12:26Speaker 1: that really is a traveling event because you as family.
- 12:31Speaker 1: They come in there and you know, there's not big dollar,
- 12:34Speaker 1: there's not big the road with him, I ain't I
- 12:36Speaker 1: didn't leave home and go with the circus. No, I
- 12:39Speaker 1: did a guest spot. Oh my goodness, girl, we just
- 12:44Speaker 1: stopped talking to you because I'm about to get involved
- 12:46Speaker 1: with that on the road. You're in that little bit
- 12:48Speaker 1: of trailer. Back then, I didn't that big coming up
- 12:53Speaker 1: to your hip level with you. With me. I was
- 12:55Speaker 1: there though, I was there. Okay, you first there. Now
- 12:59Speaker 1: you're you're too age stand up comedy. I am. You
- 13:01Speaker 1: have a tour that goes out it's called Single in
- 13:04Speaker 1: the City. And many people kept asking me, or keep
- 13:06Speaker 1: asking me, why did you name your tour single in
- 13:08Speaker 1: the City. First of all, I am a single, independent woman.
- 13:11Speaker 1: I remind people of that. Eventually. I would love to
- 13:15Speaker 1: get married one day. But I'll tell you, I love
- 13:17Speaker 1: and I own my singleness, and I think that that
- 13:20Speaker 1: is something that a lot of women should do. I
- 13:22Speaker 1: don't think that you should look at being single as
- 13:24Speaker 1: a badge of you know, the distress. You should look
- 13:27Speaker 1: at it like it's it's an honor if you I choose,
- 13:30Speaker 1: and I have chosen to be single. I love who
- 13:33Speaker 1: I am. I take myself on weekly date. Single ladies,
- 13:35Speaker 1: if you're out there, you're listening to my voice. I
- 13:37Speaker 1: want you to know that it's okay to do you
- 13:39Speaker 1: take yourself out on the day, take yourself on a
- 13:41Speaker 1: very expensive, you know day order. You know, make reservations,
- 13:44Speaker 1: get your nice glass wine, get the best meal on
- 13:45Speaker 1: the menu. Because you need to know how to be treated.
- 13:48Speaker 1: Rather you're doing that for yourself or someone that's gonna
- 13:50Speaker 1: do that, you'll know open. You know, pull up to
- 13:52Speaker 1: the valet, put on a nice dress, take care of
- 13:54Speaker 1: you and you have if you have standards, the guy's
- 13:58Speaker 1: not meeting your standards. You know how to kick to
- 14:00Speaker 1: the curve. Come on, now, somebody. If I'm gonna do
- 14:02Speaker 1: this for myself and you can't do it, boy, by
- 14:05Speaker 1: that right, because that's important Because I have six sisters, okay,
- 14:08Speaker 1: so I understand the value. I have a single daughter.
- 14:10Speaker 1: So I have a value system that you have to
- 14:12Speaker 1: put in place. And one of the reasons that Steve
- 14:14Speaker 1: Harvey's book La to Think Like a Man was so
- 14:17Speaker 1: popular sold three million copies, was translating in thirty different
- 14:21Speaker 1: foreign languages. We made two very successful movies that generated
- 14:24Speaker 1: almost two million dollars. I would say my credits because
- 14:31Speaker 1: we told women in that book the value yourself that
- 14:34Speaker 1: you are a point, that you are the queen. You're
- 14:37Speaker 1: the reason men wake up in the morning, with the
- 14:38Speaker 1: reason we dressed, with the reason we buy cars we
- 14:42Speaker 1: called my hat right you we're the reason that there
- 14:44Speaker 1: is wards, there is Listen. I'm wanna tell you if
- 14:47Speaker 1: the women just stop, if you hold the sugar, ladies,
- 14:49Speaker 1: I promise you things yes, down to the down. Let's listen.
- 14:59Speaker 1: If we just hold have the sugar, I promise you
- 15:01Speaker 1: there will be peace. You know what I'm saying. The
- 15:03Speaker 1: gas prices will go down. You know, he might even
- 15:06Speaker 1: grow hair on his head. Took it away, it's gone.
- 15:11Speaker 1: But I'm telling you, I just really want people to
- 15:12Speaker 1: women to specifically embrace the fact that they're single. You
- 15:16Speaker 1: don't have to feel less. Then you don't have to
- 15:18Speaker 1: feel like this. You know you're not worthy at the
- 15:19Speaker 1: end of the day, when you're meant to be in
- 15:21Speaker 1: a relationship or when you're ready, you will be because
- 15:23Speaker 1: that's important because of the fact that when you're on
- 15:25Speaker 1: the road. I've been a stand up comic tour and
- 15:28Speaker 1: stand up comic since okay, before my time, but absolutely,
- 15:33Speaker 1: absolutely and proud of it. Done death comedy, Jam, I've
- 15:36Speaker 1: done you know that women are women, especially African American women,
- 15:42Speaker 1: and that's why you look at what this happened to
- 15:44Speaker 1: Tiffany Hatts. I'm applauded. You know, she's exploded, and I
- 15:48Speaker 1: wish your all the opportunity to comay. But again, she's one, yes,
- 15:53Speaker 1: and there's and it should be room. There should be more,
- 15:55Speaker 1: and there's absolutely room for more than one. And I'm
- 15:57Speaker 1: not gonna forget more Nique here about the monique. Some
- 16:02Speaker 1: more Tiffany Hattish, you don't want the side that's so
- 16:06Speaker 1: many talented Africans, so many talented African American women, So
- 16:11Speaker 1: there's room for us all. But I just I really
- 16:14Speaker 1: remind people that. So the point the question was why
- 16:16Speaker 1: did I name the tour single in the city, And
- 16:19Speaker 1: it's just when I get there. I was singing in
- 16:20Speaker 1: the city in Birmingham. I was singing in the city

- 17:19Speaker 1: How you trying to get into my I'm trying. I
- 17:22Speaker 1: just see such popularity. I see money over here. I
- 17:25Speaker 1: see money making conversations over here. I just feel that,
- 17:27Speaker 1: you know, you know you know what I do. I take,
- 17:30Speaker 1: I formerly I create build a beast. But I am
- 17:35Speaker 1: gonna say that I'm saying this. I'm already a beast.
