Latest / The Lila Rose Show / E30: The 2024 Presidential Candidates, Compromise and the Leadership the Pro-Life Movement Needs
Transcript
- 0:00If you lead with compromise, I would say that's a failure.
- 0:03There's no compromise in killing a child and that needs to be the
- 0:06platform in the position of every pro-life candidate.
- 0:08But pro lifers for some reason sometimes are so quick to just
- 0:12bow down to any candidate who looks their way.
- 0:14We are a powerful constituency, but if we're not using our
- 0:17power, we're going to get lame candidates who are not going to
- 0:20make a difference. There's no states rights when it
- 0:23comes to killing babies, period. Hello everybody.
- 0:31Welcome back to the Lila Rose podcast.
- 0:33And today we're doing things a little differently.
- 0:35We're not interviewing a guest. We're going to be doing a really
- 0:38fun deep dive into the 2024 election.
- 0:42Yeah, it's coming up. Can you believe it's almost
- 0:442024? We're going to talk about the
- 0:45candidates, especially, of course, from a pro-life
- 0:48perspective, What's going on there?
- 0:50Some of the recent pro-life political developments.
- 0:53It's been in the news a lot. And then we're going to do a fun
- 0:55segment on and ask me anything. I've gotten some great questions
- 0:59from you guys. I put out and ask me anything on
- 1:01Facebook and Instagram and I've got a lot of questions in and
- 1:04I'm excited to answer some. So thank you everybody again for
- 1:07listening to the podcast for rating it.
- 1:09Don't forget to subscribe if you are on YouTube, go check out the
- 1:13new YouTube page and let's get into it. 2024 is just around the
- 1:18corner. I can't believe how soon it, how
- 1:20quickly it's coming. And already we've got, I think
- 1:24it's now 6 candidates who have announced their candidacy for
- 1:30the Republican side. We've just heard from President
- 1:33Biden just this week that he will be running for president in
- 1:362024. Nobody is surprised by that.
- 1:39Shocker. And we also heard, by the way,
- 1:43from President Biden and the Democrats that they will not be
- 1:46allowing any debates in the Democratic primary.
- 1:50This means that President Biden will effectively go unchallenged
- 1:54in the primary. There won't really be a primary.
- 1:56And instead he's going to go straight into contending with
- 2:00whatever Republican gets the nomination.
- 2:02So, again, not a shocker there. I want to just give a little
- 2:07context on President Biden and the Democrats before we dive
- 2:09into the Republicans. Did you know that President
- 2:13Biden would be 86 years old at the end of his second term?
- 2:18So he's somebody that is hanging on in politics.
- 2:23And I mean, Nancy Pelosi was similar, hanging on in politics.
- 2:26And I would say please hang on if it was somebody that was
- 2:31fighting for truth and justice and our values.
- 2:34But unfortunately, horribly, tragically, President Biden,
- 2:38apart from the accusations about his mental fitness, is
- 2:43absolutely corrupt when it comes to our values and fighting for
- 2:47the most vulnerable. And I want to share that a
- 2:48little bit because he comes across in media appearances,
- 2:51President Biden as this kind of grandfatherly type figure who
- 2:55will like have an ice cream cone.
- 2:57And you, if you look at media, you would think that he is your
- 3:01grandpa. I mean, the media makes him out
- 3:03to be this very genteel, you know, a compromiser in a good
- 3:08way, bringing people together, not a divider, A uniter.
- 3:11And that is anything but the reality.
- 3:14The reality is that President Biden is actually more extreme
- 3:18on abortion than President Obama was.
- 3:21Can you believe that? So I don't know if you remember
- 3:24President Obama's abortion position, but he was actually
- 3:27against the Born Alive Infants Protection Act as a state
- 3:30senator before he ended up running for national office.
- 3:33He actually was against protecting children who survived
- 3:36abortion attempts and giving them basic medical care.
- 3:38That was his track record before entering the national scene.
- 3:41When he entered the national scene, he was in support of
- 3:45abortions through all nine months of pregnancy at the
- 3:47federal level, enshrined for any reason.
- 3:50So that was his position. And now President Biden has not
- 3:55only taken on that legacy of being pro abortion through all
- 3:59nine months for any reason at the federal level, he he is
- 4:01against every abortion restriction possible.
- 4:04He doesn't want any abortion restrictions.
- 4:06He wants abortion codified as a constitutional right federally
- 4:09for any reason at any point of pregnancy.
- 4:12The President Biden also has been on this really absurd
- 4:17crusade. I call it absurd because it
- 4:19logically doesn't even make sense, this absurd crusade
- 4:21against pro lifers who are trying to save lives.
- 4:25An example, of course, is Mark Hawk, who Biden's FBI and
- 4:29Department of Justice have been terrorizing pro-life supporters
- 4:33who are doing work on the sidewalks peacefully to care for
- 4:36mothers outside of abortion clinics.
- 4:38And Biden had his FBI raid the home of Mark Hawk, a father of
- 4:45eight children, because Mark had been praying outside abortion
- 4:49clinics peacefully for years. And so he sent a SWAT team with
- 4:53guns drawn at 6:00 AM in the morning, over a dozen agents to
- 4:58Mark Hawk's home in Pennsylvania.
- 5:00This was just a year and a half ago now.
- 5:03And he was there to, they were there to terrorize the family.
- 5:07At 6:00 AM. The door.
- 5:09They knock on the door and they're banging on the door.
- 5:12I should say. They're not knocking.
- 5:13They're banging. Let us in.
- 5:15Open the door Mark talk is, you know, in his shorts.
- 5:18His kids are just waking up and they're all of these agents with
- 5:22their guns trained at him and his family when he opens that
- 5:25door. And then they just take him in
- 5:27handcuffs ultimately away from the home, the family home.
- 5:31And what was his crime? His crime was peacefully praying
- 5:34outside an abortion clinic and at one point a very pro abortion
- 5:37angry escort. An escort is effectively a
- 5:41volunteer for a Planned Parenthood that goes and make
- 5:44sure that women who are going there to for an appointment who
- 5:46are pregnant, who are going to have an abortion do not have
- 5:49access to any resources that the pro-life pro-life people might
- 5:53have to offer them on the sidewalk.
- 5:55So there's always this war playing on the sidewalk where
- 5:57pro lifers have resources and they want to offer women
- 5:59resources. The pro-life sidewalk counselor
- 6:01saying we have other options for you.
- 6:02You can go to this pro bono confidential center will give
- 6:05you resources and the escorts are there to often times scream
- 6:09or yell or direct the woman away from the pro lifers.
- 6:12In this case, this particular pro abortion escort at Planned
- 6:16Parenthood in Philadelphia was actually approaching Mark and
- 6:21his young son, his teenage son, yelling profanities at them,
- 6:24getting up in their face. Mark.
- 6:26Mark tried to get away from him, tried to walk away, get his son
- 6:28away and he was threatening his son.
- 6:30So Mark pushed him out of his son's way and that's why the FBI
- 6:34showed up at his door and there were no charges, no charges
- 6:39pressed. There was no police
- 6:41investigation. They dropped it because I mean,
- 6:43the escort tried to get Mark in trouble for it.
- 6:44But they're like, this is you don't have a case, but the FBI
- 6:48made a case out of it because it's the pro abortion Biden, DOJ
- 6:51and FBI. Anyways, point here is President
- 6:54Biden, even more than President Obama, wants to use the power of
- 7:01the state to oppress people who disagree.
- 7:04I mean, now maybe Obama would have done more of it if he it
- 7:07had been more normalized at the time.
- 7:09But politics have gotten so heated in the last several
- 7:13years, I think, especially post pandemic and everything else,
- 7:16that the powers of the state being used as a weapon against
- 7:19your political opponents, I think is at an all time high in
- 7:23its use on the pro abortion side against pro lifers.
- 7:26So Mark Hawk, thankfully, it actually ended up going to trial
- 7:30his case and he was completely acquitted of all charges he had.
- 7:33No, they all did. He he won a jury trial.
- 7:36The jury said he was totally innocent and he's a free man.
- 7:39But he was terrorized. He and his family were
- 7:41terrorized by our own government.
- 7:43Now, if you're listening by the way, quick side note and you are
- 7:46involved in pro-life work, do not stop, persevere.
- 7:50The good news is rule of law does prevail and Mark won his
- 7:53case and there's pro bono legal support that wants to help you
- 7:56win your case. If you have ever have a case
- 7:58live action, my nonprofit organization is there to help
- 8:01folks. So don't back down.
- 8:03That was not the time to back down.
- 8:05OK got off of from that and back to the 2024 candidates.
- 8:09So you got President Biden, most pro abortion president in U.S.
- 8:13history, and he has increased Planned Parenthood funding to an
- 8:17unprecedented amount. They're receiving $1.8 billion a
- 8:20year or $1.8 million a day, excuse me, a day in taxpayer
- 8:25funds. And his vice president is Kamala
- 8:29Harris. And Vice President Kamala Harris
- 8:33was the same Attorney General of California that went after my
- 8:36good friend David Daleiden to send agents to his home to raid
- 8:41it for her daring to investigate Planned Parenthood for their
- 8:44selling of baby body parts. And Kamala Harris, well, the
- 8:48same time she was using the powers of state against David
- 8:51Daleiden was doing fundraisers for Planned Parenthood.
- 8:55So think about this. An investigative journalist goes
- 8:57after an extremely corrupt, basically government entity in
- 9:00the state of California and other states, exposing the most
- 9:03heinous crimes against children. And the response from the
- 9:07political powers that be. Instead of taking that evidence
- 9:10and running with it to stop the abusers of children, the harmers
- 9:14of children is to go and rally for the harm for the abusers for
- 9:21Planned Parenthood, try to get money from them for their
- 9:24candidacy because she was running for at the time, Senate,
- 9:27and then go after send the state after the investigative
- 9:32journalist. It's completely crazy.
- 9:35Thankfully, David's work did lead to real ramifications,
- 9:40consequences for the abortion industry and in Orange County.
- 9:44The the District Attorney in Orange County actually won a
- 9:48case against the middle man that was selling some of the body
- 9:51parts from Planned Parenthood to other companies and got them
- 9:55shut down South. David's work did lead to real
- 9:57penalties for some of these horrific actors, but not because
- 10:02of Kamala Harris. Kamala Harris went after David
- 10:05Daleiden. She also went after pregnancy
- 10:06centers. You know, pregnancy centers
- 10:08where you go and you give care for mothers and children.
- 10:11There's free diapers, there's free formula, there's free
- 10:14parenting classes, you know, job, job placement for young
- 10:17moms and families. And she doesn't like that.
- 10:20And so she went after them to try to force them to put
- 10:24abortion notices or advertisements in their
- 10:27facilities because how dare they not provide abortion.
- 10:30So this is just one example. She's also obviously for
- 10:33abortion up until birth for any reason.
- 10:34She's a close friend of Planned Parenthood.
- 10:36She was just rallying in Los Angeles for Planned Parenthood
- 10:39and pro abortion group saying that we need to protect the
- 10:42right to abortion through only months of pregnancy.
- 10:43So that is who is in line to be president.
- 10:49If Joe Biden doesn't make it and passes away on the job, that is
- 10:53who we get. Or he has to step down because
- 10:54of medical issues or health issues.
- 10:56So it's a pretty clear cut in my book that whoever's coming from
- 11:00the Republican side on the life issue is going to be better than
- 11:03that. It'll be hard for them not to
- 11:06be. Let's just put it that way.
- 11:07So that's going to that's going to be how we're going to start
- 11:10this. I am not a passionate 1000% in
- 11:14Republican personally, by the way.
- 11:17I'm not somebody who's really loving politics and can't wait
- 11:21for the next election. It's so exciting.
- 11:23I, I, for me, elections are very heavy things because they are
- 11:28determining the fate of so many people.
- 11:30In some ways, our fate, the people listening to this
- 11:33podcast, you guys, me, our families, but also preborn
- 11:36children, laws really do matter. In states that ban abortion,
- 11:40thousands of lives are saved. In states that don't ban
- 11:42abortion or pay for abortions, like California, thousands and
- 11:45even millions of lives are lost. So this is life or death.
- 11:48And so it's heavy for me. It's not like I it's not fun,
- 11:51but I think it's key that we're all educated and that's why
- 11:54we're doing this podcast. Before getting to the Republican
- 11:57candidates. Two other things.
- 12:00Number one, obviously I'm saying this in my personal capacity as
- 12:04the Lila Rose podcast. This is not live actions
- 12:06position or live actions role in any way.
- 12:10Our role as a nonprofit is to educate.
- 12:13My podcast is independent and so we get to talk about politics
- 12:16and ultimately take sides with candidates, which is a
- 12:19prohibited issue, a prohibited thing for a non for profit
- 12:22501-C3 to do. So just a quick note on that,
- 12:25we're going to have a special guest in this discussion
- 12:27actually, which will be Noah Brandt and he is from the Live
- 12:31Action team. He's our awesome Vice President
- 12:34of communications and Gov Relations.
- 12:36But he is here 100% in his personal capacity.
- 12:39He's from the great state of Missouri.
- 12:40He is here to talk a little bit, shop about the Republican
- 12:44candidates because he's very passionate about this, of
- 12:46course, personally too, as you might imagine.
- 12:50The other thing I'm going to say is the context here, beyond
- 12:53who's on the democratic side is my philosophy when it comes to
- 12:58the strategic approach that we should take as pro lifers in
- 13:02politics. And this is something I'm really
- 13:05passionate about. Noah's really passionate about
- 13:06too, so you'll hear him talking about this.
- 13:08But I actually just had a piece in the Wall Street Journal
- 13:11talking about the strategic position.
- 13:13And the title of the piece was The pro-life Movement Can't Lead
- 13:16with Compromise. The pro-life movement can't lead
- 13:19with compromise. The reason this is so important,
- 13:21guys, is because everybody's saying to compromise right now.
- 13:23Everybody, everybody, pro lifers, even some leaders are
- 13:28saying to compromise on abortion because it's the only way you're
- 13:31going to win. And I think that's completely
- 13:32false. I think that's totally a lie.
- 13:34And it's a lie coming from the pro abortion media who are so
- 13:38invested in getting us to fail. They want us to fail.
- 13:41The pro abortion side wants to win.
- 13:42They want us to fail. So they're doing probably the
- 13:45smartest thing that they can do, which is persuade us that we
- 13:47can't even win to begin with. And so why bother?
- 13:50And so you got Roe V Wade overruled.
- 13:53All right? Just like, hold tight for this
- 13:55magical moment at some point in the future when maybe then you
- 13:57can win. And don't do anything too
- 13:58aggressive now because you're just going to lose.
- 14:01That's what they're saying. And unfortunately, that's what
- 14:04some Republican candidates are saying.
- 14:05And it's pretty messed up. And we're going to talk about
- 14:07that. But what I said in this piece is
- 14:09that we need to, as the pro-life movement, always lead with the
- 14:14truth. And that includes pro-life
- 14:16candidates. And the truth is that human life
- 14:19doesn't begin at birth. It doesn't begin at 15 weeks pre
- 14:22birth. It doesn't begin at 8 weeks pre
- 14:23birth or seven weeks. It begins at fertilization.
- 14:26And that human life is worth defending.
- 14:28And that human rights are universal, versal and
- 14:32inalienable, meaning you have them no matter what you they're
- 14:36inherent to you. Everybody has them, whether
- 14:38you're born or pre born. And you don't magically get them
- 14:41at some magical age, pre birth or a post birth.
- 14:45And that our law, our legal system has a responsibility.
- 14:49It's not even a responsibility. It's the, it's the, IT is the
- 14:52whole idea of a legal system to begin with, to have law and
- 14:56order based on justice, based on just principles, equal treatment
- 15:01out of the law. And this is our Constitution.
- 15:04Our 14th Amendment in our Constitution declares equal
- 15:08protection for all people. And it also declares that no
- 15:11state should have the right to deprive anyone of their life
- 15:14without due process. Well, there's zero due process
- 15:17right now for preborn children in the womb, Absolutely zero.
- 15:21And a preborn child in the womb is equally human to a child
- 15:25outside of the womb and equally human to you and to me.
- 15:27So by our own 14th Amendment in our own Constitution, abortion
- 15:32should be eradicated. It should be immediately
- 15:35illegal. It's like homicide.
- 15:36It should not even exist. So this whole debate of like the
- 15:39federal versus the states, who has the job to protect children,
- 15:45should the states get to decide? You know, it's everyone said,
- 15:48OK, Roe V Wade's overruled. Abortion is now back to the
- 15:51states. You probably heard this phrase.
- 15:53Abortion is back to the states for the states to decide.
- 15:57States shouldn't get to decide whether or not you have your
- 16:00constitutional protections. They don't.
- 16:02They don't get to decide that a, a, a mob of voters out of voting
- 16:06booth doesn't get to right away protections for black people,
- 16:08doesn't get to right away protections for women, doesn't
- 16:11get to right away protections for disabled people.
- 16:13Just because you are a Democratic Republican, you're a,
- 16:17you're having a vote, is going to a Democratic body doesn't
- 16:20mean that that democratic body has the right to vote on
- 16:22anything. There are certain things that a
- 16:24democracy does not have the right to decide, and that
- 16:27includes fundamental human rights, constitutional
- 16:29protections. Those are not to be voted down
- 16:33by a democracy or human rights. If you have a right to life
- 16:36that's inalienable, that's universal, it's inviolable, it
- 16:39cannot be violated. Even if you have an oppressive
- 16:41mob come over and say I'm not going to, I don't think so.
- 16:43I want to kill you because we're strong and powerful.
- 16:45We're adults and you're a little baby in the womb and you're
- 16:48encroaching on my freedom and my autonomy, so we should be able
- 16:51to kill you. That's not justice and that's
- 16:53not the right of a democracy to do so.
- 16:56The whole idea of abortion going back to the states is nonsense.
- 17:00It doesn't make sense, it's not logical.
- 17:01It's not just, and I want to strike it from the lexicon of
- 17:06politics among those who claim to be pro-life.
- 17:10If you are a pro-life leader person candidate, you're going
- 17:15around talking about states rights and abortion.
- 17:18I want to strike that entirely from our lexicon because there's
- 17:21no states rights when it comes to killing babies, period.
- 17:25Just like there should be no states rights when it comes to
- 17:28slavery. No, we fought a civil war over
- 17:31that. And I don't want to fight a
- 17:33civil war over this. I want us to get it right.
- 17:36And that starts with pro-life leaders getting it right.
- 17:38And so pro-life leaders, including pro-life candidates
- 17:41who want your pro-life vote should be bold and lead and say
- 17:46human rights begin in the womb. We're going to fight for them.
- 17:49And we want complete legal protection for children.
- 17:52Our laws should reflect what the Constitution already declares.
- 17:56And So what does that mean in the practical?
- 17:59Well, let's talk about that. So my piece in the Wall Street
- 18:01Journal called the prolific movement Can't Lead with
- 18:04Compromise was in part a response to my good friend Ryan
- 18:07Anderson. You may have heard of him.
- 18:08He's at the Ethics, Public Ethics and Public Policy Center
- 18:11in DC Very smart guy, wonderful guy.
- 18:14And he had a piece called the The Republicans Can Reset the
- 18:17Abortion debate. And he had some really great
- 18:19things to say in his piece. But what he said that I disagree
- 18:22with was this, he writes. Running on an absolutist
- 18:26pro-life platform now is the mirror image of the mistake
- 18:30Democrats have made running on an absolutist pro abortion
- 18:34platform. So he's basically saying to be
- 18:38completely pro-life is a mistake because the opposition is
- 18:41completely pro abortion. And my response is no.
- 18:45And that's my piece, right? So if you read my piece, I go on
- 18:48and I say pro-life candidates should always leave with the
- 18:50proof, the truth. Elective abortion is an act of
- 18:52violence. There's no compromise in killing
- 18:54a child. And that needs to be the
- 18:56platform in the position of every pro-life candidate.
- 18:58Now what that looks like once legislation is debated on in
- 19:02different committees and once different deals are struck in a
- 19:06legislature and once bills are actually eventually get to a
- 19:09governor to sign at the state level or the OR to the president
- 19:12at the federal level, that's a different process.
- 19:15I'm talking about what you lead with.
- 19:18And if you lead with compromise, you say I'm going to, I'm going
- 19:20to run on a 15 week abortion ban.
- 19:23I would say that's a failure. President Biden isn't going out
- 19:26there saying I'm going to run on abortion is only legal at 20
- 19:31weeks. I mean, he's out there saying
- 19:33abortion is a constitutional right.
- 19:36He's he's inflaming his base who are now committed to him.
- 19:41But pro lifers for some reason sometimes are so quick to just
- 19:47bow down to any candidate who like looks their way and says,
- 19:51Oh, I, I think I'm pro-life too. I'm personally pro-life anyways.
- 19:54But the pro lifers like, Oh my gosh, thank you so much.
- 19:56No, guys, there's a there's a lot of us out there.
- 19:59There are millions of hardcore pro lifers out there.
- 20:01I mean live actions e-mail list alone as an example.
- 20:04It was over 1,000,000 people who are passionately pro-life.
- 20:07SBA list has millions of members and they're see for they're
- 20:10actually getting involved in elections, are good friends at
- 20:12the Susan B Anthony list. We are a powerful constituency,
- 20:16but if we're not using our power, we're going to get lame
- 20:19candidates who are not going to make a difference.
- 20:21So anyways, I go on to say, listen, if we are winsome and
- 20:25communicating the prolific message, we win people over.
- 20:29But if we are instead focus on compromising our principles, we
- 20:33will not win anybody over and we'll actually lose people.
- 20:35So that's the bottom line, and I'm going to just read the last
- 20:38bit that I wrote here. The pro-life of the the pro
- 20:42abortion left enters the debate with its full agenda intact.
- 20:46The pro abortion left enters the debate with its full agenda
- 20:49intact, not compromising until legislative reality leaves them
- 20:53no other choice. If we communicate the choice
- 20:56about the right to life, we will win minds and elections and save
- 21:00lives. Instead of leading with
- 21:01compromise, the pro-life movement must lead with courage
- 21:04and strength. And people might say, well,
- 21:08that's not really how it's working in today's elections,
- 21:10but that's not true. And we're going to talk about
- 21:12that. So I'm going to bring in Noah
- 21:13Brant. Noah, are you there?
- 21:14I'm here, I'm doing it, Lila Yeah.
- 21:16That that that end was was strong.
- 21:18That's the thing. I, I, I don't understand about
- 21:22the pro-life movement so often, even working in politics for my
- 21:26whole career, that, that as I've done the pro abortion left, they
- 21:31don't compromise literally until they have to.
- 21:33And what I mean by that is they don't run in elections talking
- 21:37about compromise. They run saying we're going to
- 21:39have abortion up until birth. It's going to be paid for by
- 21:41taxpayers. And then if once they're in the
- 21:44room where the sausage is made, sometimes they, they don't get
- 21:47their entire loaf, but they inspire people and they win, you
- 21:51know, hearts and minds honestly by going for the whole loaf.
- 21:55And that's what the pro-life movement needs to do.
- 21:57Well, I think it's also a matter of obviously principle, but when
- 22:01you look at how elections are actually playing out today, the
- 22:05opposition is saying, and by opposition I mean the pro
- 22:08abortion people as well as some pro-life people are saying,
- 22:10well, we're losing elections because of life.
- 22:12You know, post Dobbs, there was a big backlash.
- 22:14Post Roe V. Wade's fall last summer, there's
- 22:16a big backlash. So we're losing elections
- 22:17because of life. I don't see it that way.
- 22:19I know you don't see it that way.
- 22:21What are your thoughts? Well, there's a couple important
- 22:22points. For one, the fall of Roe V Wade,
- 22:26the Dobs V Jackson decision in June, 20, June 24th of 2022 was
- 22:30like a huge 50 year generational win for the pro-life movement.
- 22:33And just the, the political reality, it's like gravity, a
- 22:36political reality is that losses are often times more galvanizing
- 22:39than victories. So the pro abortion left was
- 22:42extremely galvanized by that, by that loss.
- 22:45And then conversely, the pro-life movement, many of them,
- 22:47since many unfortunately, we're not properly educated, thought,
- 22:50OK, Roe V Wade is over. So maybe we're done.
- 22:53Like is the country pro-life now?
- 22:55We ended abortion. And so a mismatch of that the,
- 22:57the, the left being galvanized and the pro-life movement, many
- 23:00of them feeling like the fight is over, has meant that 22 the,
- 23:03the rest of 2022 was not a very strong year for pro-life
- 23:07candidates. And I think a lot of pro-life
- 23:08candidates were unprepared to talk about their position beyond
- 23:11Roe V. Wade being bad and Roe V.
- 23:13Wade was bad, right? Roe V Wade said there's a
- 23:15constitutional right to kill a child.
- 23:17Absolutely crazy. That's not the Constitution.
- 23:19But there is a lot more to do, like you talked about with the
- 23:2214th Amendment with equal protection that we need to
- 23:25extend towards preborn children. And so I think that we were left
- 23:28in a in a tough place. And even at one, one other
- 23:30example, right, is we just had a couple weeks ago in Wisconsin,
- 23:34in Wisconsin, they elect their state judges.
- 23:36And Wisconsin has a abortion ban that's been on the books for
- 23:39like 100 years. And Roe V.
- 23:41Wade made it unenforceable. But it's been being enforced for
- 23:43the past couple months. So abortion, you know, currently
- 23:45is unavailable in Wisconsin, but a case is coming to the
- 23:48Wisconsin State Supreme Court. They're state judges who are
- 23:51elected. And there was a very fierce
- 23:53competition, very expensive, fierce competition between a
- 23:56pro-life judge and a pro-choice judge.
- 23:58And the pro-choice judge won, you know, won by well, she won
- 24:00by 10 percentage points. But something that just is
- 24:03galling. The biggest issue in the
- 24:04election was abortion. They talked all about abortion,
- 24:06both candidates quite a bit. 40% of ads from the left,
- 24:10progressive pro abortion side mentioned abortion, 40 percent,
- 24:131% of ads from the pro-life candidate, there's a group
- 24:16supporting him, mentioned abortion.
- 24:18So the lesson here, I think, is if you don't play, you don't
- 24:21win. Was the pro-life candidate in
- 24:23that judge's race in Wisconsin, was he, was it a he or she he?
- 24:29Was he talking persuasively about abortion, or did he kind
- 24:32of run away from it? Ran away from it, OK.
- 24:35This and this happened last fall with the midterms.
- 24:37Tell us more about that. Actually, no, because I know
- 24:38we've talked about that a lot before.
- 24:40What happened in the midterms last fall, people said, oh,
- 24:42pro-life lost so badly in the midterms and therefore we
- 24:46shouldn't continue to run on it. But what really happened?
- 24:50Well, I mean, the, you know, the, the 2022 midterms in the
- 24:53fall, they were mixed bag for pro-life voters.
- 24:57You know, pro-life forces did take control of the House of
- 24:59Representatives, which is a big deal and which is a good thing.
- 25:02We did not win the Senate. We lost a couple key salient
- 25:04Senate races, right. Two that I think of a lot is
- 25:07Pennsylvania. You know, Doctor Oz, the
- 25:08Republican and ostensibly pro-life.
- 25:10Candle, who is not pro-life, I mean.
- 25:12That right, that's a big part of the problem is, you know, we
- 25:14have we have people like Doctor Oz who's been pro abortion his
- 25:17entire career, you know, and as a doctor, you know, been pro
- 25:19abortion. And so saying he speaks pro-life
- 25:22is a second language is an understatement.
- 25:24You know, it's like, is he even sincerely pro-life?
- 25:27He wasn't good at talking about it.
- 25:28He barely mentioned it. And So what happens it it it's
- 25:30like, it's like if you're playing basketball and you know,
- 25:33you're doing man on man defense, but one side isn't actually
- 25:36defending. And so the other side is, is
- 25:37scoring, scoring, scoring and the other the other side isn't
- 25:39defending. Because if your if your opponent
- 25:41is pillaring you as a, you know, a pro-life extremist to who
- 25:44wants to do all these things that are unpopular and you
- 25:47refuse to say the word abortion or talk about when life begins
- 25:50or why children deserve protection.
- 25:51You know, an attack unanswered is an attack accepted.
- 25:54You know what I mean, Lila? It's so true.
- 25:56And that's what happened in the midterm is we were outspent the
- 25:59pro-life, you mentioned one, I think 1% of pro-life money spent
- 26:03in this Senate or in this, excuse me, the Supreme Court
- 26:07race, this court race versus 40% pro abortion money spent in the
- 26:12fall of last year during the midterms of months leading up to
- 26:14the midterms, it was I think a dollar, pro-life dollar for
- 26:18every 32, was it 32 to 40? It was over $30 to every $1.00
- 26:24pro abortion money versus pro-life money.
- 26:26So the pro abortion side outspent the pro-life side
- 26:29dramatically, I mean dramatically.
- 26:31And so this whole talking. Point and you have other
- 26:34candidates, right, like Herschel Walker in Georgia, another
- 26:37extremely important Senate race. You know Georgia's a pro-life
- 26:40state that has a very popular pro-life governor Brian Kemp,
- 26:43who is re elected by a wide margin.
- 26:44But then you have Herschel Walker for the Senate candidate,
- 26:47who did speak pro-life language but was credibly accused of
- 26:51paying for multiple abortions in his own.
- 26:53Personal life is. That galvanizing to pro-life
- 26:56voters. I did not cry when Hershel
- 26:58Walker lost. I mean it's sad that he was beat
- 27:01by a pro abortion maniac. Effectively it was a mania the
- 27:06how pro abortion the the Democrat side is right now.
- 27:09But yes, I mean, the problem is if you put 4 bad, if you put
- 27:12forth bad candidates and they're not talking winsomely on life
- 27:16and then you don't spend any money to defend the pro-life
- 27:18position. Don't go around blaming the
- 27:21pro-life message for your failure as a leader and your
- 27:25failure as a running a campaign. But unfortunately that's what
- 27:30this weird thing has happened. It's like the pro-life community
- 27:32has become this scapegoat and basically preborn children have
- 27:38become the scape scapegoat. Defending preborn children is so
- 27:41hard to do that I can't keep doing it.
- 27:43You didn't even try. You didn't even try.
- 27:46And the proof that I have and that we have, Noah, for why you
- 27:50can win when you try is states like Texas and increasingly
- 27:55states like Florida, and let's talk about that for a minute.
- 27:57People say, well, it's so unpopular to do abortion bans.
- 28:01Texas has an abortion ban right now.
- 28:04Governor Abbott won his re election governor campaign
- 28:07despite incredible opposition. Governor DeSantis won in a
- 28:12landslide victory in Florida, his re election campaign, and he
- 28:17just passed the heartbeat ban in Texas.
- 28:20Now they have exceptions in the law that I don't like,
- 28:22exceptions for children conceiving rape and incest, that
- 28:24it's OK to kill those children. It's only protecting children
- 28:27after six weeks. But it's a big step forward from
- 28:30the 15 week abortion ban that the state had before that.
- 28:33And he got a lot of pushback. I mean, people were saying, oh,
- 28:36fifteen week abortion ban is enough.
- 28:37Like if you go any more extreme than that, then it's going to be
- 28:40unpopular. Did you know that 62% of
- 28:44Floridians support the heartbeat law in Texas, including a
- 28:47majority of Democrats? Yeah, a majority of Democrats
- 28:51support the heartbeat law in Texas, according to the latest
- 28:54polling. So what are any other thoughts
- 28:56on that, Noah? Just on the popular how popular
- 28:59these laws actually are when it's coupled with leadership
- 29:04that is persuasive and unapologetic.
- 29:07Well, I'll, I'll say I give a lot of credit to just in my
- 29:09personal capacity to Governor DeSantis.
- 29:11You know, he won this huge re election.
- 29:13He had, he had political capital to spend, But you know,
- 29:16political capital as in using your influence to do something,
- 29:19it's always limited. And so him using his political
- 29:21capital to take Florida from a 15 week state where you can get
- 29:25abortion for 15 weeks to six weeks is going to save thousands
- 29:28and thousands of lives. And it is going to stop Florida
- 29:31from being an abortion destination.
- 29:32You know, we just had some numbers come out.
- 29:34So every 10 years, right, the country does a census, but
- 29:37there's little updates every single year that you can look
- 29:39for if you know where to find them.
- 29:41And so even in this last census, from 2010 to 2020, states like
- 29:44Texas and Florida grew by the 1,000,000.
- 29:46States like California lost hundreds of thousands.
- 29:49But data just came out from July of 2021 to July of 2022.
- 29:53So the most recent data get this Lila, California loses 218,000
- 29:58people. In that same time, Texas gains
- 30:01350,000 and Florida gains 444,000.
- 30:06And so these are pro. So these are people moving from
- 30:08pro abortion states, right? Illinois, New York, with the
- 30:10some of the other most extreme pro abortion states also lost
- 30:13significant amounts of people. And they're moving to states
- 30:15that value life. And there's a lot of other good
- 30:17reasons to move to those states. But I think that it's like if,
- 30:20if pro-life laws were as anatomic or as unpopular as the
- 30:24media likes to tell us, then people will be fleeing these
- 30:27states. But instead, people are fleeing
- 30:28the abortion havens and moving to the places that protect life.
- 30:32I, I hope that those that flee don't go try to promote for
- 30:36abortion law in their, in their other states.
- 30:38I mean, it's a, it's a mixed bag, right, Because the people
- 30:41leave in California. I mean, I'm, we're in
- 30:43California, obviously I'm in California and I believe still
- 30:46in the future of the state. I think we still have a future.
- 30:49It's going to be rough, but we got to stay hang in there.
- 30:51And a lot of the people leaving, unfortunately, many of them are
- 30:54good people that we need their votes.
- 30:56And then some of them are maybe like you're saying, maybe people
- 31:00who support abortion, but it's they don't support it so much
- 31:02that they wouldn't move to Florida or Texas, as you say.
- 31:04So I think, listen, I have seen I've been in this media world
- 31:09since I was a teenager and I have seen the power of a
- 31:13narrative, a completely false narrative to effectively
- 31:17brainwash everyday good people and get people to live a lie and
- 31:21believe a lie. And I think that's what's
- 31:23happening right now with this whole pro-life is a losing
- 31:25issue. Is it is a brainwashing
- 31:29narrative that you say the truth and the lie enough times it
- 31:32becomes it becomes just reality for people that we're just
- 31:35getting blasted with from left and right that oh, it's a
- 31:38state's issue. It's not a federal issue.
- 31:40Oh, let the, you know, states do what they want.
- 31:43Oh, it's not a winning issue. And then when somebody like De
- 31:47Santis dares to pass a six week abortion ban despite his little
- 31:49consultants telling him don't do it, and he passes it and then he
- 31:54gets a majority of Democrat support in his own state.
- 31:58Where's the headline on that? Where's the headline on that?
- 32:01The headlines I saw after Governor De Santis passed the
- 32:05heartbeat law two weeks ago was, did he just jeopardize his
- 32:09future run? I mean, that was the headline.
- 32:12Majority of Democrats supported it in his state.
- 32:15I mean, I like to say that 10 times.
- 32:17Get that narrative in or the true narrative into our head.
- 32:19Or I did like AI did a Twitter Spaces after that.
- 32:23Twitter Spaces is this thing for Twitter geeks where you go into
- 32:25this big online room and you talk to each other and there are
- 32:29several 1000 people in it. And the Twitter Spaces was, oh,
- 32:33did DeSantis sync his career with this heartbeat lot?
- 32:36I'm like, what are you guys even talking about?
- 32:39He's wildly popular and the majority of even Democrats
- 32:42support this and, and a, and a good majority of the state
- 32:46supports this. And yet you're talking like he
- 32:48just killed his career. Like where did that narrative
- 32:49come from? And unfortunately some folks on
- 32:54the pro-life side, so to speak, is supporting that narrative.
- 32:57So we're going deep here. Let's get into it.
- 33:00The candidates, the 2024 candidates, and I know Noah, you
- 33:04have a lot of opinions here. Yes.
- 33:05Listen, Lila, unlike you, I, I love this stuff.
- 33:07I love, I love the, I love the, the political reality show a
- 33:11bit. You know that?
- 33:12Who's in, who's out? Who's going to win?
- 33:13Who's going to lose? That's why you're good at your
- 33:15job. OK, so where to start?
- 33:20I'm going to start with the big guy.
- 33:21I'm going to start with President Trump.
- 33:23And I have been critical of President Trump recently, and
- 33:28I've gotten some Flack for it, mostly from like Twitter people
- 33:31and folks on e-mail who send me emails that are pretty crass,
- 33:36actually. But I don't want to dwell on
- 33:37that. I want to focus on what he
- 33:39actually said. So President Trump, well, he was
- 33:43president, obviously appointed justices to our court that went
- 33:48on to help overturn Roe V Wade. And so that was tremendous.
- 33:52That was tremendous, yeah. People Republicans have been
- 33:55promising this for decades. Yes, it was huge.
- 33:57And if it hadn't been President Trump, it had.
- 33:59If it had been a different Republican president, it might
- 34:01have happened or it might not have happened.
- 34:03Some people listening are very opinionated about this saying,
- 34:05oh, it would have never happened.
- 34:06We've got have gotten terrible appointees to the Supreme Court.
- 34:09And other people were like, well, if we had another strong
- 34:10leader, we could have had good appointees either way.
- 34:13Either way, that's what happened during his presidency.
- 34:15Now, there are some other issues during his presidency.
- 34:18As an example, Planned Parenthood funding actually went
- 34:19up throughout his presidency. Not a lot of people know that.
- 34:23But you know, HHS did do some things that were pro-life, the
- 34:26Health and Human Services department that he had control
- 34:30over as a part of the executive branch.
- 34:31But I think they could have done a lot more.
- 34:33And I was working behind the scenes to try to get them to do
- 34:35more and they didn't do more. So that was a disappointment.
- 34:38But all of that is sort of besides the point because what I
- 34:41care about today is what he is leading on as a candidate on
- 34:45life. And I have a lot of other issues
- 34:47with President Trump which I'm not going to get into.
- 34:50That being said, President Trump recently came out and said what?
- 34:55Noah, I'll let you. I'll let you share that.
- 34:57He said it through a spokesman, but so a spokesman said for his
- 35:01campaign that President Trump was the most pro-life president
- 35:03ever. He appointed the judges who
- 35:05overturned Roe V Wade. But now abortion is purely a
- 35:09state level issue. Yeah, So President Trump is
- 35:11basically saying I'm done, I'm done.
- 35:13We got real overturned. I, you guys should basically
- 35:17kind of worship me forever. I mean, he really wants us to
- 35:20thank him forever for that. And if I'm president again, I'm
- 35:24not going to do anything at the federal level.
- 35:26And I think this is extremely toxic.
- 35:29It what is the whole all these candidates for decades have run
- 35:32on a human life amendment. They've run on human life at
- 35:35Conception Act at the federal level.
- 35:37They've run on protections for children at the federal level.
- 35:41And to say that now Roe is gone, though the whole thing holding
- 35:45us back, the reason we don't have a life at Conception Act
- 35:48federally is because of Roe V Wade.
- 35:51Now that Roe V Wade is gone, they're saying we're not going
- 35:53to do anything with the victory we were just given.
- 35:56We're going to literally leave the victory on the field and
- 35:59walk away when millions of lives are at risk.
- 36:02In what universe is that sane? Just it's a certainly not
- 36:08courageous. It's cowardice.
- 36:10It's weird cowardice though. It's like extremely illogical
- 36:14and defeatist cow. It's like you're being a coward
- 36:17when you don't even need to be a coward.
- 36:19You don't need to be a coward and.
- 36:22What what you're saying, Lila, about leaving the victory on the
- 36:24field. Listen, overturning Roe V Wade,
- 36:26like we said, I mean, obviously huge, huge victory, but it's a
- 36:30victory that put pro-life Americans in most States and
- 36:33certainly federally just just at the beginning of the race, you
- 36:36know, it made it to where we could run the race like Roe V
- 36:38Wade just said, you know, abortion's a constitutional
- 36:41right. You cannot pass any pro-life
- 36:42laws that are that are meaningful.
- 36:44And so by the court saying that's not true and setting us
- 36:47back to, I guess you could say this neutral.
- 36:48And I think that that's wrong. I think the Constitution does
- 36:50protect life, but the Supreme Court this moment says that, you
- 36:53know, the Constitution doesn't weigh in either way and States
- 36:55and the federal government can do whatever they want.
- 36:57Yes, it's a big victory by being here, but it's not actually
- 37:00protecting children. So for a pro-life candidate who
- 37:02thinks abortion is wrong to say the federal government shouldn't
- 37:05be doing anything. I mean, it's, are you even
- 37:08pro-life personally? Like if, if you, what do you
- 37:11think about this, Lila? If someone says they're pro-life
- 37:13personally but is not interested in the in the government and
- 37:15especially our national government doing something to
- 37:17stop abortion, are they pro-life?
- 37:19No, they're not. And I, I mean, President Biden
- 37:21even says he's personally pro-life.
- 37:23I don't know if you've heard that, but he said he personally,
- 37:25I mean, years ago anyways, he said that he doesn't personally
- 37:29support abortion, but he supports a woman's right
- 37:31legally. So yeah, you can.
- 37:33You can, you can have all kind of all kind of nonsense reasons
- 37:37for defending your bad political strategy, but it doesn't make
- 37:42you a good candidate. It makes you a bad candidate.
- 37:45And people need to know. So that's why we're talking
- 37:47about this. What's your response to Lila?
- 37:48So after this statement came out, you and, and our friends at
- 37:52Susan B Anthony Pro-life America and some other great pro-life
- 37:54leaders, students for Life said that President Trump's comments
- 37:57were unacceptable, that that the pro, the pro-life president or
- 38:00the Republican pro-life presidential candidate needs to
- 38:02support federal action. And then it came out through,
- 38:05you know, who knows the complete validity of this, but through
- 38:07some unnamed sources that President Trump is extremely
- 38:10upset about this and saying that the pro-life movement should,
- 38:12should be grateful. They should be grateful for him
- 38:14and everything he does. So why aren't you grateful?
- 38:16Yeah. I mean, you can be grateful that
- 38:18somebody did something really, really good a few years ago.
- 38:21And then when they do something really bad, you call him out on
- 38:23it. So I, I think this sort of like
- 38:25blind loyalty to a personality is horribly toxic when it comes
- 38:32to real lives on the line because our job is not
- 38:36tribalism, our job is justice and our job is protecting the
- 38:39most vulnerable. And I don't know, I think it's
- 38:43completely disqualifying. It is disqualifying for any
- 38:49candidate to say the federal government, basically, I as a
- 38:52bleeder have no role post Roe V. Wade in defending preborn lives.
- 38:58And unfortunately, that's what President Trump has done.
- 39:00And so he's disqualified himself from the nomination.
- 39:02That alone. I mean, there's other things you
- 39:03can argue are disqualifying too, but we're not going to get into
- 39:06that. I would say he's disqualified on
- 39:08life. And he is not the right leader
- 39:11for that. And I also think there's a lot
- 39:12of other reasons he's not the right leader and.
- 39:15And I won't speak for you, Lila, but it's like I encourage
- 39:17President Trump to walk back these comments and welcome him
- 39:20to embrace an aggressive federal role for protecting human life.
- 39:24You. Know, I mean, it would be smart
- 39:25if he wants to even have a shot, but I don't know.
- 39:28I don't know if he's going to do it.
- 39:29One more thing, Lila, just about the the conflict and what
- 39:32President Trump say about loyalty.
- 39:34You know, I really think that voters, especially in our
- 39:37country, it's like we should care more about ideas and policy
- 39:40than candidates. You know, candidates at the end
- 39:42of the day are vessels for ideas and policy.
- 39:46And so there should never be such a loyalty or an affinity
- 39:49for a candidate that you're willing to kind of put down like
- 39:52the the actual policies and ideas you support.
- 39:54I agree with that 100%. It's hard because in today's
- 39:57kind of social media media world, it's so easy to just vote
- 40:01based on like your gut impression of somebody and that,
- 40:05you know, regardless of their actual track record, regardless
- 40:09of like facts about them, you're still going to go with sort of
- 40:12your the likability factor. And yeah, I think it'd be a
- 40:16discerning voter, you know, be a high information voter, right?
- 40:19Low information voters. They just kind of get this pop
- 40:22culture impression of somebody and go off of that versus like
- 40:24doing the research and understanding where the voter
- 40:26actually or the candidate actually stands.
- 40:29OK, well, let's move on from President Trump.
- 40:31And by the way, everybody listening, I'd love your input
- 40:34and your thoughts on this. You can send me an e-mail.
- 40:37It's Lila at gtvmedia.com. Did I get that right?
- 40:40Franco Lila at GT and Franco's our awesome
- 40:44producerlila@gtbmedia.com. Send me your thoughts.
- 40:47I'd love to hear them. We'll do mailbags and ask me
- 40:49anything's in the future. We're going to do one at the end
- 40:51of this episode here in a little bit.
- 40:53But let's go talk about the other candidates.
- 40:55So there's not just Trump in the race right now already we've got
- 40:58several others. We're going to blast through a
- 41:00few of them. Not everybody has announced yet.
- 41:02There's probably more to come, but we've got a few and let's
- 41:05just look at where they stand right now.
- 41:07What's the sort of trend, what is the trend of the candidates
- 41:11positions on abortion right now? And we can help be trend makers
- 41:15by the way, you listening, if you get involved in politics,
- 41:18you can be a trend setter in the response that you have to these
- 41:23candidates with what they say early on.
- 41:26They really care about you. They really care about what you
- 41:29think about them because they are desperate for the
- 41:31nomination. So your opinion, what you say on
- 41:34social media, they have like their consultant social media
- 41:37listening mechanisms, what you letters to the editor that
- 41:39you're writing, the people that you're talking to, how you're
- 41:42responding in polls, like it really matters.
- 41:44It makes a big difference right now.
- 41:45So please, please, please use your voice to demand to call for
- 41:50pro-life, real pro-life leadership.
- 41:52OK, let's start with Nikki Haley.
- 41:54I think she's pulling out, what, 1% Noah?
- 41:56Yeah, a little bit between 1:00 and. 5 Now I think Nikki Haley
- 41:59comes across as a very classy lady.
- 42:00First, let me just say that I like that she is.
- 42:04You know, I think, I think a lot of people were impressed with
- 42:07her as an ambassador because she seemed to stand up so strongly
- 42:10for our values to the United Nations, right?
- 42:13Was that the to? The UN?
- 42:15Yep, she was the US Ambassador to the UN.
- 42:17So I think well, she because she actually had, she actually had
- 42:20run insurance where she would present our values and she did
- 42:23it in a strong way. So I think that's really likable
- 42:26and really good, obviously, but unfortunately she's really weak
- 42:31on life. And she actually just gave a
- 42:32speech this week at Susan B Anthony List headquarters and I
- 42:37tweeted my impression of it, which was that this is not the
- 42:40leadership pro lifers are looking for.
- 42:42She said that obviously she went the Trump talking point that
- 42:46abortion is up to the states Now.
- 42:48I think she did say she signed pro-life legislation, but she's
- 42:52not like going to lead on it. And then she, she had some good
- 42:55things to say about protecting life at conception.
- 42:57So that's good. I mean, she, she had the right
- 42:59talking points about the value of life, but the sort of
- 43:02political piece of, OK, they're human, so they deserve
- 43:04protection. That wasn't the connection.
- 43:06And then the last thing that she did that I really didn't like.
- 43:08And then I'll, I'm, I'm sure your thoughts too, Noah was she
- 43:11said that we need more contraception and we'll do more
- 43:14episodes on this in the future. But contraception is not this
- 43:17antidote to abortion. I mean, that's another popular
- 43:20pot talking point media narrative.
- 43:23Contraception actually creates A mindset and culture that sex has
- 43:26nothing to do with children and that you should have consequence
- 43:29free sex as an adult or as anybody.
- 43:31And therefore if you get pregnant on birth control, you
- 43:34should have the backup option of abortion.
- 43:37And in fact, 50% of people who have abortions, they were on
- 43:41birth control the month they got pregnant.
- 43:43So people using birth control are getting abortions.
- 43:46Birth control actually creates an abortion culture.
- 43:49That's my opinion. That's also what a lot of social
- 43:50data says. We'll talk about that more in
- 43:52the future, but what are your thoughts on Nikki Haley?
- 43:54Well, I think there's a couple things are important to say
- 43:55about someone like Governor Haley is that she was a good
- 43:58ambassador, like you said. I think in a lot of ways she was
- 44:00a good governor. She signed pro-life legislation
- 44:02that came to her desk, not super aggressive, but but still good,
- 44:05good pro-life legislation. I think she's a good
- 44:07communicator for life. I believe that she is pro-life.
- 44:10I believe she thinks abortion is wrong.
- 44:11She told even in her speech this week, a beautiful story about
- 44:14her husbands, her husband being adopted and how that her
- 44:17husbands, you know, that potentially her husbands mother
- 44:21could have gotten abortion and she wouldn't have her family.
- 44:23She struggled with with fertility issues, having
- 44:25conceiving children on how that impacts her pro-life narrative.
- 44:28And so I think the reason I bring those up is I think, and
- 44:31you would agree that, you know, politics is all about
- 44:34storytelling. And so both of those stories are
- 44:36good anchors to then go. And that's why I believe we
- 44:38shouldn't be indiscriminately killing our children and we need
- 44:40to fully protect life. But unfortunately she doesn't
- 44:43she doesn't go into that next step, which is important.
- 44:45And she falls into the exact trap that you lay out in your
- 44:48Wall Street Journal article, which is she's, she immediately
- 44:50says, well, you know, the, the most aggressive pro-life
- 44:53protections are too unpopular nationally.
- 44:56And we can't expect, you know, the things we're seeing out of
- 44:58Texas or Florida to happen on the national level.
- 45:01And I, it just, it is sad because when you say something
- 45:03like we can't expect it, it's like, what, well, what are you
- 45:06doing here as a political leader?
- 45:07If you're not here to, to move the narrative and, and talk
- 45:11about what's right? You know, so it's like they'd be
- 45:13when you're, when you're running for president, when you're
- 45:15making these speeches and these policy commitments, you're
- 45:17saying what you think is ideal. And so it's sad when you can't
- 45:21lay out that you think would be ideal to end abortion and
- 45:23protect children. Well said, Noah.
- 45:26I agree, Nikki Haley and my book is not our solution.
- 45:30So let's keep looking at who we've got to consider.
- 45:32And by the way, I'm not making any kind of announcement about
- 45:34who I'm endorsing or if even if I will endorse.
- 45:36But this is more an initial analysis and thoughts on these
- 45:39candidates. Every candidate has the
- 45:40capacity, I mean it's the beginning of 2023 to move in the
- 45:43right direction. Absolutely, absolutely.
- 45:45That's an important point. OK.
- 45:46A couple others we're just going to run through with the time we
- 45:48have is Larry Elder. Larry Elder also announced his
- 45:52candidacy. He is someone that I actually
- 45:55endorsed in the govern governor recall, recall Gavin Newsom
- 46:00special election for governor. This was last year, I think.
- 46:04And I don't really endorse candidates.
- 46:06I do it very sparingly, but I did it because I, you know, it's
- 46:09kind of a Hail Mary pass to try to get our, our governor to
- 46:14change, you know, our our leadership here in California to
- 46:16change. And I thought he had a little
- 46:18shot, a little shot because there's a lot of unrest about
- 46:20Gavin Newsom being governor of California with the pet, the way
- 46:23he handled the pandemic, the way he handles crime, the way he
- 46:25handles so many things. And I've always see his
- 46:26extremism on abortion doesn't help.
- 46:28And Larry Elder promised me when I endorsed him that he would be
- 46:33for he would not do anything to expand abortion, that he would
- 46:36be for complete protection if there was the opportunity, and
- 46:40that he would work to defund all abortion in the state of
- 46:43California. So I thought that was good as a
- 46:46presidential candidate. I don't know that life is his
- 46:49big issue. I mean, I haven't seen that
- 46:52historically with him even in his punditry, in his talk show.
- 46:55I, I, I don't know that, you know, I, I won't say he's like a
- 46:59true boot, blue pro-life king, you know, leader.
- 47:04So I don't know that it's kind of early to tell.
- 47:06Any thoughts on Larry Eldernoa? Yeah.
- 47:07I mean, I don't think that, Larry.
- 47:09Has he weighed in on federal versus states yet?
- 47:11He he certainly, certainly hasn't since he announced his
- 47:13presidential campaign. But I, I once again, Larry
- 47:16Elder, another person that I, I believe is pro-life and I also
- 47:18believe he's a really compelling advocate, but especially someone
- 47:21like Larry Elder that, you know, I don't wouldn't mean to be
- 47:24disrespectful to him. I don't think he's considered a
- 47:26front runner for the campaign right now.
- 47:27So a great differentiator for him would be taking an extremely
- 47:30strong stance on defending preborn children.
- 47:34Because that, that's the thing, you know, a lot of people are
- 47:36always afraid when there's too many candidates running, You
- 47:38know, it's like that, it gets muddied.
- 47:40The good thing about having multiple candidates running for
- 47:42the presidency is it can push the whole field in the right
- 47:45direction on certain issues. So.
- 47:47So that that's why as we go through these candidates, even
- 47:49the ones that might not be considered kind of a plus these
- 47:52this, this person is odd. The odds on winner.
- 47:54It's like I encourage them. It's like the field is wide
- 47:56open. Take take the pro-life mantle
- 47:58because it'll it'll push the whole field in the right
- 48:01direction. So, so true.
- 48:03OK, let's do one more. There's also Vivek, he wrote
- 48:07Roke Inc. And his last name, Noah.
- 48:08Can you pronounce his last name? I.
- 48:10Think it's Ramswami. Ramswami Vivek Ramswami, he
- 48:13wrote Woke Inc. He's the kind of entrepreneur
- 48:15guy who is sort of kind of an independent in his approach, but
- 48:20he's running as a Republican and he's, you know, he seems to be
- 48:26passionate about espousing conservative principles so far.
- 48:30I mean, he's kind of new to the scene.
- 48:31I actually will probably have Vivek on my podcast soon.
- 48:34We're going to try to interview these different candidates in
- 48:37coming months. But thoughts on Vivek?
- 48:40Yeah, I mean, I think Vivek, you know, he he's approaching his
- 48:45campaign from the stance of an entrepreneur.
- 48:47You know, I think is interesting.
- 48:49He's approaching his campaign sort of taking on cultural
- 48:52issues first, which is in life is a cultural issue.
- 48:54I think he's mostly been focusing on kind of the woke
- 48:57agenda, right, of maybe issues having to do with sexuality and
- 49:01transgenderism. And he has said that.
- 49:03He has said he is pro-life. But once again, he has not come
- 49:06out with a full position on how he thinks abortion should be
- 49:10handled in the human rights to life protected.
- 49:12And so listen to Vivek and hopefully maybe you have a
- 49:14conversation with him in the future, you know, you should
- 49:17come out for full federal protection, you know?
- 49:19Well, let's see, maybe he'll announce that on the podcast.
- 49:21We'll see. Awesome.
- 49:23OK. And then there's obviously
- 49:24everybody who's thinking about him.
- 49:26He has not announced yet. It's likely.
- 49:28I mean, we're thinking he's going to Governor DeSantis.
- 49:31And so I do want to talk briefly about him.
- 49:33Again, not announced yet, but I like some of the things I've
- 49:37seen so far. Obviously, it was good to see
- 49:39him sign the heartbeat law into into law, the heartbeat bill
- 49:44into law. I don't like that the heartbeat
- 49:46law is just a heartbeat lot. It doesn't protect all the
- 49:48children just at the heartbeat. And then he has these exceptions
- 49:51in there that I thought were completely unnecessary.
- 49:52Obviously, you know, not protecting a child because
- 49:55they're conceived in rape is ridiculous.
- 49:57And a woman is not benefited or healed from the trauma of rape
- 50:01by having an abortion. I mean, an abortion is another
- 50:03trauma. So to tell a, a victim of
- 50:06trauma, survivor of trauma that she needs an abortion, I think
- 50:09is not good mouth medicine or healthcare.
- 50:11It's more traumatizing and it's wrong to that child, of course.
- 50:15So I don't like that, but I do like that he's bold.
- 50:19He has some of that boldness that people found attractive in
- 50:22Trump, but I don't think he has all the baggage.
- 50:25I don't know that. We'll see.
- 50:26We'll see what he ends up doing on life as a federal, at the
- 50:31federal level. You know what he says he'll do?
- 50:33He has implicated or insinuated a couple times that he believes
- 50:37it's a states rights issue. Have you seen that, Noah?
- 50:40I don't like that that's that's really bad.
- 50:42So he'd better clean that up before he runs.
- 50:45If he runs on, it's a states rights issue.
- 50:48He's in the Trump camp. It's just disqualifying.
- 50:51Yeah, you know, he, he, he's not a candidate yet, but like you
- 50:54said, and I do just, I, I give him a lot of credit because
- 50:58there's a lot of things that a governor can put their focus on
- 51:01and using, using his focus and, and the power of his agenda to
- 51:06move Florida really dramatically in the pro-life direction.
- 51:09I think is a is a really big win.
- 51:11I mean, because people literally it's like because all the states
- 51:13around Florida have full bands. So Georgia has a six week ban.
- 51:15All the other states have full, full protections for life.
- 51:18And so people were coming from Florida from across the South to
- 51:21get abortions and that's going to be extremely challenging now
- 51:24and a really good move and save, save a lot of children by moving
- 51:28that protection to, to six weeks.
- 51:30But yeah, they, that we can't, I, I can't exactly analyze what
- 51:33he said on the federal level because so far he's stuck to
- 51:36just what he thinks his his state should do.
- 51:38But I, I hope he, I mean, I just encourage every single
- 51:40candidate, you know, read the 14th Amendment to the
- 51:43Constitution. It's, you know, that the 14th
- 51:45Amendment was one of these Civil War amendments.
- 51:47So the 13th Amendment abolished slavery.
- 51:49And then the 14th amendment, which was passed right around
- 51:51the same time the 1860s, extended equal protection and
- 51:55due process under the law. And So what that means is that
- 51:58any state that has a homicide law, which is all 50 states,
- 52:01it's illegal to murder someone in all 50 states.
- 52:03That in all 50 states it should be illegal to kill a pre born
- 52:07person because that's all the the 14th amendment says is
- 52:10person. And person was understood at the
- 52:12time, as it's understood now to to mean from the moment someone
- 52:15comes into existence, which is a moment of fertilization.
- 52:18Absolutely. Person is human is a human
- 52:21right. Thank you Noah, I will.
- 52:22We should do this again, especially when we hear more
- 52:24announcements and more updates. But that was great, a great run
- 52:27through. I hope this was helpful for
- 52:28folks listening as an initial entry into what's going on with
- 52:33the playing field, the political playing field and life right
- 52:36now. All right, so now we're going to
- 52:38go to Ask Me Anything and I've got some questions in.
- 52:41We're going to start with Instagram questions.
- 52:43OK, first one, a personal one. Do you want more kids?
- 52:46How many? This is from Maria.
- 52:49OK, I have two kids, as many of you might know, 2 little kids,
- 52:51A1 year old and a three-year old.
- 52:52And I would love more kids. Kids are the best.
- 52:56I tell my husband all the time. I can't wait to have more.
- 52:58And so, yeah, it'd be awesome to have at least 5, at least five
- 53:01kids would be amazing. OK, here's a question from
- 53:04somebody who just asked. Is this from a teen?
- 53:06It says as a teen in a strong, healthy relationship, I'm
- 53:10finding it hard not to get too physical.
- 53:11Any suggestions? This is about purity or chastity
- 53:14in your dating relationship. And first of all, I would say as
- 53:17a teen, I think dating can be totally a good thing.
- 53:20But keep in mind the purpose of dating in the end is to for you
- 53:24to grow as a person, for the person that you're dating to
- 53:26grow as a person and to discern if you're supposed to marry this
- 53:29person. So if you're a very young teen
- 53:31and you're dating, I would just question that like, is this what
- 53:33you want to be spending your time in and investing yourself
- 53:36in this relationship? When ultimately are you prepared
- 53:40to be married soon? And it's likely that you're not.
- 53:42So that would be the first thing is just kind of reconsidering or
- 53:45reframing the way you approach relationships at a young age.
- 53:48You know, for me, I didn't start dating seriously until I was in
- 53:51college. And even then I wasn't like all
- 53:54in because I was thinking about all these other things I felt
- 53:57called to do and I didn't think I was going to be getting
- 53:58married soon. And so I just think that needs
- 54:00to be part of the, the, the, the thought process in even deciding
- 54:04to date period. Secondly, when it comes to
- 54:07boundaries in a dating relationship, I mean, this is a
- 54:09great question because you already know from the question
- 54:11that when you're dating, you're not married.
- 54:14So sex is for marriage, right? And so not for dating.
- 54:18And you want to be, you want to have boundaries that are
- 54:20ultimately very loving for yourself and this person because
- 54:23they're not your spouse and you want to have intimacy with only
- 54:26your spouse. And so I would just say, listen,
- 54:30to evaluate what are the things that make it difficult for us to
- 54:34have those boundaries? You know, are we spending a lot
- 54:36of time alone together in the evenings as an example?
- 54:38Or are we, you know, kissing each other?
- 54:41And that's making us want to go further.
- 54:43And so should we walk that back and say maybe we're going to not
- 54:46do all of this kissing and we're going to instead just do like a
- 54:49quick kiss and say hello and then that's it?
- 54:51You know, I think having boundaries to recognize that
- 54:55there's a process to intimacy and it starts with a lot of
- 54:58physical affection. And if it gets sexual, then that
- 55:00leads to more sexual things. And so don't do sexual things
- 55:03with your boyfriend or your girlfriend.
- 55:05That would be my, my, my advice. Just don't do it.
- 55:08And if it's really hard, you keep finding yourself falling
- 55:10into it, then take yourself out of those occasions where it's
- 55:13easier to fall into doing that. And that might look like you
- 55:18don't spend time together at night, or it might look like,
- 55:21you know, in a practical level, you're just judicious about how
- 55:25you spend your time together. But I think that makes a huge
- 55:28difference because bonding happens with close physical
- 55:33relationship. And you know, on a moral
- 55:35perspective, obviously it's designed for marriage, not just
- 55:38for dating or just another person that's not your spouse.
- 55:41So it's really great that you think about this, keep thinking
- 55:43about it, and, yeah, be an example.
- 55:46Be an example in your relationship to others, and it
- 55:48won't be inspiring for other people.
- 55:50Here's one. How do we lovingly convert AOC
- 55:53to be pro-life? I think this should be the goal.
- 55:55What a great question. It's cute.
- 55:58I mean, listen, I always say we should pray for our opposition,
- 56:01our political opponents. I pray for Gavin Newsom.
- 56:04I think we should pray for President Biden.
- 56:05I think we should pray for AOC. I think we should pray for
- 56:08conversion. Conversions do happen.
- 56:10They do. Ronald Reagan was president,
- 56:13obviously he was the president, but before that he was governor.
- 56:15Ronald Reagan was governor of California.
- 56:17He signed pro abortion legislation.
- 56:19So he supported abortion as governor and then he ended up
- 56:21becoming really pro-life. So that change is possible.
- 56:25So yeah, pray for AOC. I love that.
- 56:27If you get, here's a, here's a good rule of thumb.
- 56:28If you get mad at people on the Internet, right, you're reading
- 56:32news stories, you get mad at politicians, you get, you know,
- 56:35you get mad or really concerned, let's say maybe you're not the
- 56:38angry type who responds with like frustration and anger.
- 56:40You respond with just sorrow and sadness.
- 56:43That's for me, by the way, I kind of get depressed.
- 56:46If you get sad or mad, use that emotion to triggering you.
- 56:50A habit of saying a prayer for that person or that situation.
- 56:53It transforms the entire experience where now you are a
- 56:57force for good. And that media consumption that
- 56:59you just did, which maybe you don't need to do, but you did
- 57:02it. Whatever we all do it.
- 57:03You're now turning it into an actual prayer so it's union
- 57:06between you and God. And then you're actually asking
- 57:09for God and his grace on that situation or person.
- 57:11It's really an amazing thing. So that's that's one thing.
- 57:14I love this. Yes, convert AOC through prayer.
- 57:16That's the first step. Here's another one.
- 57:18How do you stay grounded when you have so many commitments
- 57:21with family, travel, etcetera? I mean, I'm super blessed to
- 57:25have a husband who is just a good normal in the sense that he
- 57:30is down to earth grounded person with good wisdom and good
- 57:36balance in his own life. So that's hugely a blessing that
- 57:41I have a spouse that and I really when I was discerning to
- 57:44marry him and get married, it was like that was valuable to
- 57:47me. Just have someone that was
- 57:49really balanced and really wise and really healthy as a human
- 57:53being. So that helps a lot.
- 57:55And having routines, you know, that are going to keep me
- 58:01balanced are key to good sleep. Taking time to pray.
- 58:05I, I will say that being a mom and, you know, being a parent
- 58:08and putting my kids, you know, they're first.
- 58:11I'm thinking about them when I go to sleep.
- 58:12I think about them when I wake up and I'm caring for them
- 58:14throughout the day. And you know, we, we, we're
- 58:17parents, right? That automatically grounds you a
- 58:20lot. I don't, you know, when I do
- 58:23travel, I don't leave. I actually don't leave my I
- 58:29never leave my youngest son. I always take him with me.
- 58:32And when I have left my older son, I only leave him for one
- 58:35night and only a few weeks at a time.
- 58:36Meaning like every I'll go a few weeks and then maybe leave him
- 58:39one night and then go a few weeks.
- 58:40So I try to very rarely miss bedtime and so I will do evening
- 58:46events but sparingly. So I just think that like having
- 58:48balance where I don't, I don't think that my work is so
- 58:51important that it can deprive my boys of their mother primarily,
- 58:56you know, that I, I make sure I'm there for them
- 58:58significantly, not just quantity, quality time, but
- 59:00quantity time. And I'll say no to things work
- 59:03wise to ensure that I'm there with my boys.
- 59:06And that in and of itself is grounding because I'm not the
- 59:09center of the universe. You know, my work is not the
- 59:11center of the universe, even though this mission, the mission
- 59:15for goodness, truth and beauty, the mission for pro-life,
- 59:17there's such important missions to me.
- 59:19I don't, you know, I don't have this mentality that I am the
- 59:22savior and I'm going to be the one to accomplish it myself.
- 59:25You know, it's God, right? And I'm just a tool.
- 59:27And I could be a bad tool if I have bad balance in my personal
- 59:29life. So I think having that mentality
- 59:33makes a big difference. Lighthearted and lovely.
- 59:35Waffles or pancakes? OK, definitely depends on my
- 59:39mood. Waffles, delicious.
- 59:42I can make the most amazing waffles and pancakes.
- 59:44I've perfected the art. We do this on the weekends
- 59:46usually as a family. And you can make a really bad
- 59:49waffle or a really good one depending on your griddle and
- 59:52your recipe. But I right now I think I'm in a
- 59:54pancake mode because I overdid waffles for weeks and weeks and
- 59:57weeks. We just had waffles every
- 59:58Sunday. Now I'm doing pancakes, but
- 1:00:00they're both awesome. All right guys, that's it for
- 1:00:03questions today. We will answer more on future
- 1:00:05episodes. Let me know you guys think about
- 1:00:07this format. You know, I've been doing a lot
