- 0:01Speaker 1: An illegal truck driver behind a fatal U turn failed
- 0:06Speaker 1: the English language tests. We're now finding out at mile
- 0:10Speaker 1: marker one seventy on the Florida Turnpike, a semi truck
- 0:14Speaker 1: driver executed an illegal U turn in an area designated
- 0:18Speaker 1: quote official use only. It has caused a fatal collision
- 0:23Speaker 1: and three fatalities in a Chrysler Town and Country minivan
- 0:27Speaker 1: were killed a thirty seven year old woman, a thirty
- 0:31Speaker 1: year old man, and a fifty four year old man
- 0:35Speaker 1: from Miami. The truck driver is, unfortunately where the tragic
- 0:39Speaker 1: story begins, identified as a twenty eight year old Indian
- 0:44Speaker 1: national living illegally in the United States of America. He
- 0:49Speaker 1: entered the country in twenty eighteen, reportedly via Mexico, and
- 0:55Speaker 1: was actually granted a work permit in June of twenty
- 0:58Speaker 1: twenty one after an earlier denial under the Trump administration,
- 1:05Speaker 1: meaning Joe Biden allowed this to happen. We also are
- 1:10Speaker 1: finding out more about the licensing details of the illegal immigrant.
- 1:15Speaker 1: The man literally held a CDL, a commercial driver's license,
- 1:19Speaker 1: something that is supposed to be hard to get, but
- 1:22Speaker 1: it wasn't for this illegal immigrant because he went to
- 1:25Speaker 1: a sanctuary state. And it was issued by California, one
- 1:30Speaker 1: of nineteen states plus DC that will actually grant CDLs
- 1:36Speaker 1: regardless of immigration status. That is why we would refer
- 1:40Speaker 1: to them as a sanctuary state. Federal testing after the
- 1:45Speaker 1: crash revealed that the man failed to properly interpret basic
- 1:51Speaker 1: English instructions and road signs. He answered only two of
- 1:56Speaker 1: twelve English questions correctly, and it didni fied just one
- 2:02Speaker 1: of ford traffic signs correctly. Legal charges are also going
- 2:07Speaker 1: to take place, but the damage has already been done.
- 2:11Speaker 1: The driver now faces three counts of vhicular homicide and
- 2:16Speaker 1: immigration violations. An ice detainer has been issued and federal
- 2:20Speaker 1: authorities are requesting as transfer once state proceedings conclude. We
- 2:25Speaker 1: also had these shocking video evidence that went viral. The
- 2:30Speaker 1: dashcam footage from inside the truck capturing the illegal maneuver
- 2:34Speaker 1: and ensuing crash at surfaced and circulated widely, also showing
- 2:39Speaker 1: a man that really didn't seem to care much that
- 2:41Speaker 1: he had just taken the lives of three individuals. Now,
- 2:45Speaker 1: the legal and political fallout is even bigger. In Florida,
- 2:50Speaker 1: each count of hicular homicide can carry up to fifteen years,
- 2:55Speaker 1: meaning the maximum of forty five years in prison if
- 2:58Speaker 1: he is convicted on all three. Prosecutors also must prove
- 3:03Speaker 1: recklessness and not just negligence to receive that sentence. Federal
- 3:09Speaker 1: state crash is also another part of the problem here,
- 3:13Speaker 1: also the question of federal and state and what's going
- 3:16Speaker 1: to happen there. The Department of Homeland Security criticized California's
- 3:21Speaker 1: licensing policies, calling it asinine, while California officials and legal
- 3:28Speaker 1: experts counter that the man had quote a valid visa
- 3:32Speaker 1: and work permit when he received his license, validating compliance
- 3:36Speaker 1: with legal requirements, even though apparently couldn't even read the
- 3:40Speaker 1: basic road signs. And then there's the bigger question, how
- 3:45Speaker 1: many more are out there on the roadways who have
- 3:48Speaker 1: been given CDLs who can't speak English and don't know
- 3:51Speaker 1: what the signs say on the roads they're driving with
- 3:54Speaker 1: an eighteen wheeler. Public reaction is going to play a
- 3:58Speaker 1: large part in this. The incident has sparked intense backlash,
- 4:03Speaker 1: fueling political debate over sanctuary state policies and also these
- 4:08Speaker 1: states that are permitting undocumented illegal immigrants to obtain CDLs.
- 4:15Speaker 1: California Governor Gavin Newsom is also facing particularly sharp criticism
- 4:20Speaker 1: over the entire episode. So if you look at it
- 4:24Speaker 1: and step back, here's the takeaway. You have a semi
- 4:28Speaker 1: truck driver who killed three Americans while making an illegal
- 4:31Speaker 1: U turn in Florida, failed an English language proficiency test
- 4:36Speaker 1: and also failed to accurately identify highway traffic signs. In
- 4:40Speaker 1: the press release from the Department of Transportation, it was
- 4:43Speaker 1: revealed that officials of the Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration
- 4:47Speaker 1: had launched an investigation into the deadly.
- 4:50Speaker 2: Crash in Florida.
- 4:51Speaker 1: During the interview with the driver they are now saying
- 4:54Speaker 1: publicly who has been identified, investigators administered a Engli nguage
- 5:00Speaker 1: proficiency assessment. He failed the assessment and only provided quote
- 5:05Speaker 1: correct answers to just two of twelve verbal questions. And again,
- 5:09Speaker 1: as I mentioned earlier, the report now states he only
- 5:12Speaker 1: accurately identified one of four highway traffic signs. It states
- 5:16Speaker 1: that he had he followed the rules, this driver would
- 5:19Speaker 1: have never been behind the wheel and the three precious
- 5:23Speaker 1: lives would still be with us. The Transportation Secretary Sean
- 5:27Speaker 1: Duffy saying in a statement, quote this crash was a
- 5:30Speaker 1: preventable tragedy, directly caused by reckless decisions and compounded by
- 5:37Speaker 1: despicable failures, non enforcement and radical immigration policies have turned
- 5:43Speaker 1: the trucking industry into a lawless frontier, resulting, he says,
- 5:48Speaker 1: in unqualified foreign drivers improperly acquiring licenses to operate forty
- 5:54Speaker 1: ton vehicles. The press release from Sean Duffy Transportation secont
- 6:00Speaker 1: Terry also revealed that on July the fifteenth of twenty
- 6:05Speaker 1: twenty three, Washington State, we are now being told, issued
- 6:09Speaker 1: the man a quote regular, full term commercial driver's license,
- 6:15Speaker 1: and then on July twenty third of twenty twenty four,
- 6:18Speaker 1: the driver was issued a limited term slash CDL in
- 6:23Speaker 1: California as well. So the federal investigators administering all of this,
- 6:29Speaker 1: and they know that this guy can't speak English, doesn't
- 6:32Speaker 1: know the signs, and then killed three people, and yet
- 6:36Speaker 1: Democrats are still defending the practice of giving illegal immigrants
- 6:40Speaker 1: CDL licenses to drive eighteen millers in America. There's no
- 6:45Speaker 1: doubt that Sean Duffy and the Trump administration are gonna
- 6:48Speaker 1: do everything they can to make sure this stops happening,
- 6:52Speaker 1: especially in light of what we just witnessed. I want
- 6:56Speaker 1: to talk to you about my friends over at Patriot Mobile.
- 6:59Speaker 1: You've got a lot of choices for cell phone service,

- 9:03Speaker 1: back to oh what a week and a half ago
- 9:06Speaker 1: when the President of United States of America announced he
- 9:08Speaker 1: was going to federalize law enforcement in Washington, d C.
- 9:12Speaker 2: Take charge and fight crime.
- 9:14Speaker 1: What did the left in the media say, Well, I
- 9:17Speaker 1: can tell you because I was on TV that night
- 9:19Speaker 1: on CNN, and they said the president all this was
- 9:23Speaker 1: was him being a narcissist, a dictator, and this is
- 9:27Speaker 1: all about Donald Trump wanting to be in charge. And
- 9:31Speaker 1: I asked the question, why is it you guys hate
- 9:33Speaker 1: Donald Trump so much to the point where you won't
- 9:36Speaker 1: even advocate from fighting crime when people are dying in Washington,
- 9:40Speaker 1: d C. They then said Donald Trump doesn't know how
- 9:43Speaker 1: to fight crime, and that this is all for the cameras.
- 9:47Speaker 1: It's all theatrics, that he wasn't actually going to fight
- 9:50Speaker 1: crime in high crime areas in Washington, d C. He
- 9:54Speaker 1: was just going to put him around the National Mall.
- 9:57Speaker 1: Well guess what that was also a line, how do
- 10:01Speaker 1: we know it? Take a list in the White House
- 10:03Speaker 1: Press Secretary Caroline Levitt is she explains exactly what's happened
- 10:07Speaker 1: in just over a week of data they've now received.
- 10:12Speaker 3: President Trump's efforts to make DC safe again are working.
- 10:15Speaker 3: There have been a total of four hundred and sixty
- 10:18Speaker 3: five arrests since the start of this operation on Thursday,
- 10:22Speaker 3: August seventh. Last night, there were a total of fifty
- 10:25Speaker 3: two arrests, including the arrest of an illegal alien MS
- 10:29Speaker 3: thirteen gang member with convictions for DWI and drug possession.
- 10:34Speaker 3: Thanks to President Trump's leadership in the outstanding work of
- 10:37Speaker 3: both federal and local law enforcement, dangerous gang members like
- 10:40Speaker 3: the one picked up last night will not be allowed
- 10:43Speaker 3: on the streets of our nation's capital. Other arrests last
- 10:46Speaker 3: night included assault with a deadly weapon for stabbing, parole
- 10:50Speaker 3: violation for robbery murder, outstanding warrant for attempted murder, assault
- 10:55Speaker 3: on federal law enforcement officer, and felony assault. Four more
- 10:59Speaker 3: homeless in casements were also removed during yesterday's reporting period.
- 11:03Speaker 3: To date, a total of forty eight homeless encampments have
- 11:06Speaker 3: been cleared in Washington, d C. By multi agency teams.
- 11:10Speaker 3: MPD patrol units are actively working with city officials to
- 11:13Speaker 3: locate in clear additional encampments and remove homeless residents off
- 11:17Speaker 3: of Washington streets. And despite fake narratives from the media, again,
- 11:21Speaker 3: a significant number of the arrests have been in high
- 11:24Speaker 3: crime areas of DC. In fact, nearly half of all
- 11:28Speaker 3: of the non illegal alien related arrests have occurred in
- 11:33Speaker 3: Wards seven and eight, the two wards that have the
- 11:36Speaker 3: highest number of violent crime, as well as homicides and
- 11:39Speaker 3: assaults with dangerous weapons last year. So while Democrats continue
- 11:43Speaker 3: to caudle violent criminals, President Trump and this administration are
- 11:47Speaker 3: focused on putting them behind bars and unapologetically standing up
- 11:50Speaker 3: for the safety of law abiding American citizens. And the
- 11:54Speaker 3: White House will continue to provide all of you with
- 11:56Speaker 3: the results of this operation in the days ahead.
- 12:00Speaker 1: You listen to what she said, they went into the
- 12:03Speaker 1: most violent neighborhoods to protect the least among us. You also,
- 12:09Speaker 1: and if you listen to Democratic Party, they're obsessed with
- 12:13Speaker 1: black lives matter. If I remember correctly, they even painted
- 12:17Speaker 1: a street with Black Lives Matter on it, the mayor
- 12:21Speaker 1: of DC making sure it was headed straight to the
- 12:23Speaker 1: White House. And so why wouldn't you advocate for more
- 12:28Speaker 1: law enforcement? Now the liberal media narrative has been well, actually,
- 12:32Speaker 1: things are incredibly safe in DC.
- 12:35Speaker 2: They're so much better than.
- 12:36Speaker 1: They were when they had a quote bad year in
- 12:39Speaker 1: twenty twenty three, when we now know that there may
- 12:43Speaker 1: be massive lives have been told to us in twenty
- 12:46Speaker 1: twenty four and twenty twenty five.
- 12:49Speaker 2: What am I talking about?
- 12:50Speaker 1: Insert the DC police union chairman who's now exposing saying
- 12:55Speaker 1: there's a very good chance, based on what they've seen
- 12:59Speaker 1: that the number who were deliberately manipulated to make crime
- 13:02Speaker 1: look like it was lower than it actually was in DC.
- 13:07Speaker 1: Another Democrat cover up, caring more about faking the numbers
- 13:12Speaker 1: than fighting crime. Listen to what the DC union police
- 13:16Speaker 1: chairman had to say on Fox News Channel.
- 13:20Speaker 4: Can you confirm for us that there have been police
- 13:25Speaker 4: officers and detectives and members of law enforcement in DC
- 13:29Speaker 4: who on the scene of crimes have been told don't
- 13:33Speaker 4: write that one down, or don't add that to the list,
- 13:36Speaker 4: or put that down as a more minor offense.
- 13:41Speaker 5: Absolutely.
- 13:41Speaker 6: That's one of the chief complaints of our members when
- 13:43Speaker 6: we go around and talk to them, is that they
- 13:45Speaker 6: respond to the scenes of these violent crimes, and inevitably
- 13:49Speaker 6: you'll have a captain or a commander or sometimes a
- 13:51Speaker 6: lieutenant show up on the scene and advise them to
- 13:54Speaker 6: take a report for a lesser offense. One of the
- 13:57Speaker 6: things that we see them do often is sometimes they'll
- 13:59Speaker 6: be shooting or a stabbing, and if the victim is
- 14:02Speaker 6: uncooperative with the police, which is not uncommon in some
- 14:05Speaker 6: areas of the city. They'll be directed to take an
- 14:07Speaker 6: injured person to the hospital report, which is not even
- 14:10Speaker 6: a crime at all.
- 14:10Speaker 5: It's an incident report.
- 14:12Speaker 6: Sometimes you'll have a robbery, it'll be reported as a theft.
- 14:16Speaker 6: Other times you'll have burglaries that are reported as unlawful
- 14:19Speaker 6: entry or thefts. This is something that's been unfortunately part
- 14:23Speaker 6: and parcel of the police department for some time, and
- 14:26Speaker 6: we're very skeptical that these crime stats are accurate.
- 14:29Speaker 4: That's extraordinary. What is the motivation? Why are these commanders
- 14:33Speaker 4: or higher ups arriving on the scene during apprehensions and
- 14:38Speaker 4: telling police officers to indicate something other than what actually
- 14:43Speaker 4: happened at the scene.
- 14:44Speaker 6: Well, the only explanation you give me to keep the
- 14:46Speaker 6: crime stats down because politically that's expedient for the police
- 14:49Speaker 6: department and elected officials in the district.
- 14:51Speaker 5: I mean, let's go back to how we got here, which.
- 14:53Speaker 6: Is that in twenty twenty, the Dccity Council passed the
- 14:56Speaker 6: Comprehensive Policing and Justice Reform Act, which was a sweeping
- 14:59Speaker 6: piece of legiac designed to hamstring police officers to reduce
- 15:03Speaker 6: the size scope and responsibilities of police officers. In addition,
- 15:07Speaker 6: it also prevented us from holding criminals accountable even when
- 15:10Speaker 6: they're convicted of crimes. And so now here we are
- 15:13Speaker 6: five years later, the police department, with an authorized strength
- 15:16Speaker 6: of four thousand sworn members, we only have three and eighty,
- 15:20Speaker 6: leaving us with over eight hundred vacancies for the position
- 15:22Speaker 6: a police officer. And in order to make up for
- 15:25Speaker 6: that gap, the police department uses two million hours of
- 15:28Speaker 6: mandatory overtime to cover the demand for police officers. And
- 15:32Speaker 6: so because of that, crime has skyrocketed in the district.
- 15:35Speaker 6: And one of the things that we think is going
- 15:37Speaker 6: on in the police department, which who knows how high
- 15:40Speaker 6: up that those directors are coming from, is to make
- 15:43Speaker 6: sure that these crime stats are reported in the most
- 15:45Speaker 6: favorable way possible.
- 15:47Speaker 4: I mean, what you're saying obviously substantiates what we heard
- 15:51Speaker 4: from President Trump. He said they were opening an investigation
- 15:53Speaker 4: and that he didn't believe because what happened. I don't
- 15:56Speaker 4: have to tell you. I'm speaking to the audience at large,
- 15:59Speaker 4: but when present and Trump said he wanted to bring
- 16:01Speaker 4: a national guard. All we heard from many quarters in
- 16:04Speaker 4: the media and in leadership in Washington was this is ridiculous.
- 16:08Speaker 4: Our numbers are lower than they've been in a long
- 16:09Speaker 4: time in Washington, DC. We don't need National Guard presence
- 16:12Speaker 4: on our streets. I mean, this sounds very, very egregious.
- 16:19Speaker 4: This is lying to the people at the constituents of Washington,
- 16:22Speaker 4: d C. And lying to the federal government about what
- 16:25Speaker 4: your numbers really are.
- 16:26Speaker 5: Well, you're right, Martha, it is a crime under DC Code.
- 16:29Speaker 6: It would be false swearing and it would be false reporting,
- 16:31Speaker 6: and those are statutes in the DC Code that make
- 16:34Speaker 6: it illegal to do that, to false by police reports
- 16:36Speaker 6: or to change the data. So if the DOJ is
- 16:39Speaker 6: in fact investigating, I hope they do, and if they
- 16:41Speaker 6: find that somebody was intentionally manipulating the data, they should
- 16:44Speaker 6: be held accountable. It's a crime in the District of Columbia,
- 16:46Speaker 6: and frankly, it's a disservice to the police department, it's
- 16:50Speaker 6: a disservice to the city, and most of all, it's
- 16:52Speaker 6: a disservice to the victims whose police reports are not
- 16:55Speaker 6: being properly handled and we're not dedicating the proper resources
- 16:58Speaker 6: to the crimes that they've been victims of. So something
- 17:01Speaker 6: needs to change here, and this is an important issue.
- 17:03Speaker 1: So let's just go over the DC crime stats. Now,
- 17:07Speaker 1: DC crime since the announcement of federal control versus the
- 17:10Speaker 1: seven day prior numbers, forty six percent is how much
- 17:15Speaker 1: they're down when it comes to robberies. Six percent down
- 17:19Speaker 1: when it comes to carjacking, eighty three percent down for
- 17:23Speaker 1: car theft, twenty one percent, violent crime, twenty two percent down,
- 17:28Speaker 1: property crime, six percent of all crimes.
- 17:32Speaker 2: This is unbelievable.
- 17:34Speaker 1: And now the Justice Department is investigating whether the DC
- 17:37Speaker 1: police deliberately manipulated crime data. The police chief also saying
- 17:43Speaker 1: this about DC crime under the Democrats to the Republicans.
- 17:49Speaker 6: The criminal justice system here in the District of Columbia
- 17:52Speaker 6: is broken. Every aspect of it is broken, whether that's policing, prosecution,
- 17:57Speaker 6: judges and trials, sentencing and supervision, all of it is broken.
- 18:01Speaker 6: And you can trace every aspect of it back to
- 18:04Speaker 6: a piece of legislation that was passed by the council.
- 18:07Speaker 6: They have destroyed policing, they have destroyed prosecutions, they have
- 18:10Speaker 6: destroyed the way that the courts are allowed to operate,
- 18:12Speaker 6: and they've destroyed our ability to sentence criminals to sentences
- 18:16Speaker 6: that are commensurate with the crimes they've committed. And so
- 18:18Speaker 6: the only way to fix this holistically is to go
- 18:21Speaker 6: back and look at all of this legislation that the
- 18:23Speaker 6: Council passed it back in twenty twenty when there was
- 18:25Speaker 6: all of this anti police rhetoric and work to undo that.
- 18:29Speaker 6: I know from my experiences the DC Council will never
- 18:32Speaker 6: do that on their own.
- 18:33Speaker 5: And so what we're hoping over.
- 18:35Speaker 6: The course of the next thirty days is that whether
- 18:37Speaker 6: that's the White House, whether that's these federal law enforcement agencies,
- 18:40Speaker 6: whether that's Congress, that people get an insight into exactly
- 18:43Speaker 6: how the system got so broken, because the only way
- 18:46Speaker 6: to fix it is if we can get rid of
- 18:48Speaker 6: that legislation. And my main concern is that thirty days
- 18:50Speaker 6: are going to go by, all of these folks are
- 18:53Speaker 6: going to go up about their merry way, and we're
- 18:54Speaker 6: still going to be stuck with all this bad law.
- 18:57Speaker 1: We're only going to be stuck with bad laws. Remember this,
- 19:01Speaker 1: Remember what the Democratic Party is doing. They're not actually
- 19:05Speaker 1: trying to fight crime. They just want Donald Trump to
- 19:08Speaker 1: be a failure, even if it means Americans dying. You
- 19:13Speaker 1: may remember during the campaign, Donald Trump said that if
- 19:17Speaker 1: you elected him, he was going to look into voter
- 19:20Speaker 1: election integrity, and he was wanting to get rid of
- 19:23Speaker 1: mail in ballots. Now that has made the left lose
- 19:26Speaker 1: their minds. Why because we have now witnessed even recently
- 19:30Speaker 1: local elected officials stuffing the ballot box. It happened to
- 19:35Speaker 1: be the mailbox with mail in ballots that obviously were
- 19:38Speaker 1: not from the people that they were setting them in
- 19:41Speaker 1: on their behalf. Well, now Donald Trump has pledged to
- 19:44Speaker 1: end mail in ballots and voting machines ahead of the
- 19:47Speaker 1: twenty twenty six midterms. Making big news with the announcement,
- 19:51Speaker 1: President Trump announcing he intends to sign an executive order
- 19:55Speaker 1: banning the use of mail in ballots and electronic voting
- 19:58Speaker 1: machines in federaltions sat in the stage for a fierce
- 20:02Speaker 1: political and legal battle ahead of the twenty twenty six midterms. Now,
- 20:06Speaker 1: this move, Trump argued, is quote necessary to restore public
- 20:10Speaker 1: confidence in American elections, which he says have been plagued
- 20:15Speaker 1: by fraud, mismanagement, and manipulation since the rapid expansion of
- 20:20Speaker 1: vote by mail and the widespread adoption of computerized voting systems.
- 20:25Speaker 1: Quote I am going to lead a movement to get
- 20:27Speaker 1: rid of mail in ballots. And also, while we're at it,
- 20:30Speaker 1: highly inaccurate, very expensive, and seriously controversial voting machines, Trump
- 20:35Speaker 1: wrote in a true social post elections. By the way,
- 20:38Speaker 1: the United States are primarily run by state governments, not Washington.
- 20:43Speaker 1: Legal experts are noting that there could be a real
- 20:46Speaker 1: problem and a fight, obviously, a fight that Donald Trump
- 20:49Speaker 1: has no problem having, and that fight would be over
- 20:52Speaker 1: constitution and who actually has the authority. Yes, the Constitution
- 20:57Speaker 1: gives states the authority to administer elections, with Congress, not
- 21:00Speaker 1: the President, holding limited power to quote regulate them. One
- 21:04Speaker 1: liberal law professor at New York University put it this way, quote,
- 21:08Speaker 1: the president has no power constitutionally to dictate two states
- 21:12Speaker 1: the manner in which they conduct national elections. Still Donald
- 21:15Speaker 1: Trump and says the states act as agents of the
- 21:18Speaker 1: federal government when conducting elections and therefore must follow the
- 21:22Speaker 1: presidential direction. That claim is clearly a test that the
- 21:26Speaker 1: president's more than happy to happen, and that's exactly why
- 21:29Speaker 1: he's wanting to do the executive order. He obviously is
- 21:32Speaker 1: planning on it going to court now. Conservative liberals have
- 21:35Speaker 1: long raised alarms about electronic voting machines.
- 21:38Speaker 2: Let me say that again.
- 21:40Speaker 1: Conservatives and liberals have been raising alarms about the electronic
- 21:44Speaker 1: voting machines, which rely on proprietary software and digital tabulation
- 21:48Speaker 1: of the votes. In fact, critics on both sides of
- 21:51Speaker 1: the aisle have actually argued the same thing, that these machines,
- 21:55Speaker 1: produced by a handful of private companies, are vulnerable to hacking,
- 22:00Speaker 1: miss programming, or even deliberate tampering. Now, while election officials
- 22:05Speaker 1: insist that voting machines are more accurate than handcounts, skeptics
- 22:10Speaker 1: point to high profile eras in passed elections, such as
- 22:13Speaker 1: miss reported totals and technical breakdowns that left voters frustrated
- 22:18Speaker 1: wondering if their votes were even counted. In fact, Democrats
- 22:22Speaker 1: have been critical of electronic voting machines and have at
- 22:26Speaker 1: times raised significant concerns about their reliability and also security.
- 22:32Speaker 1: A great example of this is in Georgia, leading Democrats
- 22:35Speaker 1: criticize the state's decision to use dominion ballot marking devices,
- 22:40Speaker 1: arguing they were vulnerable to tampering and lack the transparency
- 22:44Speaker 1: of hand marked paper ballots. Lawsuits were filed seeking to
- 22:48Speaker 1: block their use with election security advocates pointing to risks
- 22:51Speaker 1: of hacking and also just basic software flaws. In fact,
- 22:55Speaker 1: the twenty twenty HBO documentary Killed Chain, the Cyber War
- 22:59Speaker 1: and America's Elections highlighted potential vulnerabilities and computerized voting, featuring
- 23:05Speaker 1: interviews with security experts who warned the machines could be
- 23:09Speaker 1: manipulated and most shockingly, leave elections open to interference. Together,
- 23:15Speaker 1: democratic lawmakers, advocacy groups, and investigative media have question whether
- 23:20Speaker 1: technology base voting undermines public trust. Let me say that again,
- 23:24Speaker 1: this is democratic lawmakers that have been doing this. They
- 23:28Speaker 1: were also pressing for greater reliance on paper ballots and
- 23:32Speaker 1: robust auditing. So why now would Democrats be against what
- 23:36Speaker 1: they've been advocating for. It actually comes down to one
- 23:40Speaker 1: simple issue. They hate Donald Trump, and they also don't
- 23:44Speaker 1: want admit that maybe Donald Trump is right about a
- 23:47Speaker 1: lot of this issue when it comes to election integrity.
- 23:50Speaker 1: As for the President, he says he wants transparency. He
- 23:53Speaker 1: wants hand counted paper ballots, even if it's slower, to
- 23:58Speaker 1: make sure that our elections are meaningful, that people feel
- 24:01Speaker 1: like their ballots are being casted and not canceled out
- 24:05Speaker 1: by a hacker or a computer. Yes, it may even
- 24:08Speaker 1: cost a little bit more money, but is it worth
- 24:10Speaker 1: it to know that your vote counts. That's exactly what
- 24:13Speaker 1: the President's saying, and the legal fight he's wanting to
