- 0:20Speaker 1: but first to submit and information will come directly to me.
- 0:24Speaker 2: Now let's get this show started.
- 0:26Speaker 1: My guest is the president and chief operating officer a
- 0:30Speaker 1: One United Bank. One United Bank is the nation's largest
- 0:34Speaker 1: black owned bank and award winning community development financial institution.
- 0:39Speaker 1: It serves as a bridge by offering affordable financial services
- 0:43Speaker 1: and promoting financial literacy. Please welcome to the Money Making
- 0:47Speaker 1: Conversation Masterclass. Terry Williams. How are you doing, Miss Williams.
- 0:52Speaker 2: I'm great. It's good to be here. Okay.
- 0:55Speaker 1: You know I'm based in Atlanta. So where are you
- 0:58Speaker 1: calling in from?
- 1:00Speaker 2: I'm calling in from Miami.
- 1:02Speaker 1: Miami, Florida. Okay. Now, One United Bank. I I talked
- 1:07Speaker 1: to Ken. I met him many many years ago in
- 1:10Speaker 1: Los Angeles. Now, how did the One United Bank four
- 1:14Speaker 1: match start?
- 1:17Speaker 3: So we started with a community bank in Boston, and
- 1:21Speaker 3: we acquired four black owned banks, one here in Miami,
- 1:25Speaker 3: which is where I am now, and two in LA
- 1:29Speaker 3: and the one in Boston. We combined them into one
- 1:33Speaker 3: and we changed our name to One United Bank. That
- 1:38Speaker 3: was over twenty years ago, and since then we have
- 1:43Speaker 3: launched a digital platform.
- 1:45Speaker 2: We were actually the first digital.
- 1:47Speaker 3: Black owned bank, and that was in two thousand and five,
- 1:52Speaker 3: so twenty years ago. And from there we have become
- 1:55Speaker 3: the largest black owned bank in the country with customers
- 2:00Speaker 3: all over in all fifty states.
- 2:03Speaker 1: Now, how could people get information about One United Bank?
- 2:09Speaker 3: You can go to one United o Neunited dot com
- 2:13Speaker 3: and you can learn about who we are, our technology,
- 2:18Speaker 3: and you can also open up an account online within minutes.
- 2:23Speaker 1: Okay, that's great because one thing I've always been mad
- 2:27Speaker 1: about is that in the black community, community of color,
- 2:30Speaker 1: they've taken all the brick and mortar banks basically out.
- 2:34Speaker 1: You know, you talk about food deserts, in the black community,
- 2:37Speaker 1: the financial desert doesn't even exist, and so we are
- 2:42Speaker 1: prisoners of those high check cash in places I can't
- 2:50Speaker 1: stand there. You go into the community of color, you
- 2:53Speaker 1: see churches, you see these they call them hot sheets motels,
- 2:58Speaker 1: you see liquor stores and these check cash in places.
- 3:01Speaker 1: That really is embarrassing to me because you know, you
- 3:05Speaker 1: got to get buzzed in, you got to get buzzed out.
- 3:08Speaker 1: You bringing your money in there to get cash, and
- 3:10Speaker 1: you're being treated like a criminal. And so it's so
- 3:14Speaker 1: enlightening to have one United Bank positioned itself to make services,
- 3:20Speaker 1: proper banking services available to our community in the digital format.
- 3:26Speaker 1: Let's go in detail of why that's so important. Mis Williams.
- 3:30Speaker 3: Yeah, you're absolutely right, and that's what we saw twenty
- 3:32Speaker 3: years ago, where, first of all, where our community was
- 3:37Speaker 3: actually at the forefront of digital you know, they talk
- 3:40Speaker 3: about the digital divide, but the reality is that the
- 3:43Speaker 3: black community, we were at the forefront of using technology,
- 3:47Speaker 3: of using smartphones, of using social media, and so we
- 3:50Speaker 3: saw the young people growing up in this environment and
- 3:53Speaker 3: they didn't have a need to go into a branch
- 3:55Speaker 3: as much as some of us older folks did. And
- 3:58Speaker 3: so we, you know, twenty years ago, decided that we
- 4:01Speaker 3: wanted to build this platform not only because the technology
- 4:06Speaker 3: was important, but because of what you said, which is
- 4:09Speaker 3: that the branches were declining in our community. And you know,
- 4:13Speaker 3: one of the things about myself. I've lived in major cities,
- 4:17Speaker 3: but I've also lived in rural America. And you know,
- 4:21Speaker 3: there's just not enough financial services in rule America as well,
- 4:26Speaker 3: and there are a lot of us that live in
- 4:28Speaker 3: small towns.
- 4:29Speaker 4: Now.
- 4:30Speaker 1: I love people like Terry Williams because she knows her
- 4:33Speaker 1: brand so well that I always like to have to
- 4:35Speaker 1: do a pump the breaks because she slid rights by
- 4:39Speaker 1: something that was so important, that's taking a picture of
- 4:42Speaker 1: your payroll check.
- 4:45Speaker 2: This is the.
- 4:46Speaker 1: Part where I feel our community has been imprisoned by
- 4:50Speaker 1: these high check cashing places. They go in there, they
- 4:54Speaker 1: take a major portion of your check with these high fees,
- 4:57Speaker 1: treat you like I'm just cherry. They treat I don't
- 4:59Speaker 1: think to treat you well. I've been in there, I've
- 5:02Speaker 1: seen it. I've been fighting this cherry since i've been
- 5:05Speaker 1: when Steve Harven I was in LA back in two thousand,
- 5:09Speaker 1: so I've been on a war path about this, and
- 5:13Speaker 1: so when I that's why I'm such a fan of
- 5:15Speaker 1: one United Bank.
- 5:16Speaker 2: You know you I may not.
- 5:18Speaker 1: I'm not a paid brand abaschetor. I'm just gonna put
- 5:20Speaker 1: it out there, but I am an ambacheldor of Change.
- 5:23Speaker 1: I am a bassador, ambassador of information and walk them
- 5:27Speaker 1: through detail how they can take a picture dick check
- 5:31Speaker 1: and how they can get their money back through the
- 5:34Speaker 1: ATM services they are everywhere.
- 5:36Speaker 3: Yes, yes, So again we realized that, you know, access
- 5:40Speaker 3: to money, what's going to be is important, not what's
- 5:43Speaker 3: going to be is important to our community. So you
- 5:46Speaker 3: bring up ATM networks because people will be like, okay,
- 5:49Speaker 3: if I bank with you, how do I get access
- 5:51Speaker 3: to my money. We have the largest searcharge free ATM
- 5:55Speaker 3: network then any other bank in the country. You can
- 5:58Speaker 3: go if you're a customer when United, you can go
- 6:00Speaker 3: into a Walgreens seven eleven. You can even go to
- 6:04Speaker 3: a Chase Bank or a City bank and get access
- 6:06Speaker 3: to your money without paying a fee. We have one
- 6:11Speaker 3: hundred thousand surcharge free ATMs where you can access your money.
- 6:16Speaker 3: And the reason that we did that is we you know,
- 6:18Speaker 3: developed these partnerships, is because we realize that those you know,
- 6:23Speaker 3: some of those ATMs. In fact, I have to say this,
- 6:26Speaker 3: I was I needed cash, and I was in a
- 6:29Speaker 3: hotel and I went to the hotel ATM to get
- 6:32Speaker 3: some cash, and the fee was five dollars a ninety
- 6:35Speaker 3: nine cent just to get access to one hundred dollars.
- 6:40Speaker 2: It's crazy.
- 6:42Speaker 3: So I say that to say we know that these
- 6:46Speaker 3: fees add up, and that we have to be able
- 6:49Speaker 3: to access our money and want to access and not
- 6:52Speaker 3: only does deserve to access our money surcharge free. You mentioned,
- 6:58Speaker 3: you know, getting paid two days or early. You know
- 7:00Speaker 3: this is not a you know, payday advance loan. You
- 7:04Speaker 3: know this is not something that we charge you for.
- 7:06Speaker 3: If you bank with one United and you do a
- 7:09Speaker 3: direct deposit of your paycheck as opposed to you getting
- 7:12Speaker 3: that pay on Friday, you will get it on Wednesday,
- 7:16Speaker 3: no fee, no charge.
- 7:19Speaker 2: You just get your money early.
- 7:22Speaker 3: Again, we recognize that that could make the difference between
- 7:26Speaker 3: you needing a payday loan or you not needing a
- 7:28Speaker 3: payday loan.
- 7:30Speaker 1: And the key in this conversation, ladies and gentlemen, is
- 7:32Speaker 1: that you're now doing positive banking these high fee charging places.
- 7:40Speaker 1: That's not banking. That's not banking. They're never going to
- 7:43Speaker 1: improve your credit score, there's never going to be in
- 7:46Speaker 1: a position to give you a debit credit card. None
- 7:49Speaker 1: of those things are going to happen if you continue
- 7:52Speaker 1: to bank or do financial transactions with these high check
- 7:57Speaker 1: cashing places. And that's important that we say this in
- 8:00Speaker 1: this interview, is that money making conversations masterclass is what
- 8:05Speaker 1: I call education information. Terry Williams is on this show
- 8:10Speaker 1: because I asked her to come on the show because
- 8:12Speaker 1: she's providing a service that everybody on this call need
- 8:16Speaker 1: to hear. Because even I Rashawn McDonald, because I use ATMs, Terry,
- 8:21Speaker 1: I bank with a particular bank. If I go to
- 8:23Speaker 1: another bank that's not my bank, I get.
- 8:26Speaker 2: Charged that fee.
- 8:26Speaker 1: You talking about it? Yeah, Okay, Now she's telling you
- 8:31Speaker 1: you bank with one United Bank, you can go anywhere
- 8:36Speaker 1: no fee. That right there is the home run we're
- 8:39Speaker 1: looking for. We are looking for as a community because
- 8:42Speaker 1: now we're banking. Take a picture of your check. I've
- 8:45Speaker 1: done this.
- 8:45Speaker 2: Now I've taken.
- 8:46Speaker 1: A picture of Sometimes I go in the bank, I
- 8:48Speaker 1: don't feel like standing in that line. I just go
- 8:51Speaker 1: up there, take a picture of the check depositive and
- 8:54Speaker 1: everything's good. Never never have to stand in a long line.
- 8:57Speaker 1: So I know that even my bank, I use their service.
- 9:00Speaker 1: So you could know that. Okay, Rishon, have you ever
- 9:03Speaker 1: used that type of banking service? You wanted to deposit
- 9:06Speaker 1: your check through a camera.
- 9:10Speaker 2: And it goes it to your bank account.
- 9:11Speaker 1: Yes, it does work like that. It works like that
- 9:14Speaker 1: for me and can work like that for you. Now,
- 9:16Speaker 1: when you start pushing this idea, how you getting the
- 9:19Speaker 1: word out terry about this because it's so it's not
- 9:23Speaker 1: even groundbreaking because guess what, like you said, black people
- 9:26Speaker 1: and people of color have always used smartphones, have always
- 9:30Speaker 1: been at the fort tronk of video gaming digital and
- 9:34Speaker 1: now we just need to start being acknowledged and start
- 9:38Speaker 1: using it other than just taking pictures and texting people.
- 9:42Speaker 3: Well, you know, I have to say that this has
- 9:44Speaker 3: been a really wonderful but long journey.
- 9:47Speaker 2: And what I mean by that is, you know, there was.
- 9:50Speaker 3: A time when people didn't even know that black banks existed.
- 9:54Speaker 3: You know, they are like, oh no, you know, and
- 9:56Speaker 3: you know one of the things that you mentioned, Yes
- 9:58Speaker 3: I'm the president and see oh but I'm actually also
- 10:01Speaker 3: the owner of the bank. And so there, you know,
- 10:05Speaker 3: I always said I have to pop my head out
- 10:07Speaker 3: and say, see, I'm black, you know, and that, you know,
- 10:10Speaker 3: because people are like, oh, black people don't.
- 10:11Speaker 2: Own banks, you know.
- 10:13Speaker 3: But and and I will also say that we as
- 10:17Speaker 3: a community need to learn to trust each other with
- 10:22Speaker 3: our business. With our business. We are a FDIC insured bank.
- 10:28Speaker 3: We are a real bank, not a fintech, not somebody
- 10:32Speaker 3: that's you know, asking you for your money and your
- 10:34Speaker 3: confidential information but doesn't have.
- 10:37Speaker 2: The full faith and credit.
- 10:38Speaker 3: We have the full faith, faith and credit of the
- 10:42Speaker 3: US government for the bank. So you know, there's sort
- 10:47Speaker 3: of a mistrust that we have to get over as
- 10:50Speaker 3: a community. There's also a need for financial literacy. This
- 10:54Speaker 3: is where you know, your podcast, where your your program
- 10:58Speaker 3: comes in, because we we do need to get educated.
- 11:01Speaker 3: You know, I sometimes get annoyed when people talk about
- 11:08Speaker 3: black folks and try to make it seem like we're
- 11:11Speaker 3: not good with money. We are great with money. We
- 11:14Speaker 3: are great with money. We've always been great with money.
- 11:18Speaker 3: We don't have the same income. You know, we have
- 11:21Speaker 3: faced discrimination.
- 11:23Speaker 2: We have been.
- 11:24Speaker 3: Actually precluded from We were the asset that was owned
- 11:28Speaker 3: and we couldn't buy assets, We couldn't live where we
- 11:31Speaker 3: wanted to live because of laws.
- 11:33Speaker 2: That discriminated against us.
- 11:36Speaker 3: But if you look at you know what we are
- 11:38Speaker 3: able to accomplish given the amount of income that we
- 11:42Speaker 3: do have. We've accomplished a tremendous amount.
- 11:45Speaker 2: But we do need to.
- 11:46Speaker 3: Learn more about how wealthy people build wealth.
- 11:52Speaker 2: And I, you know, I say this to everyone. One
- 11:54Speaker 2: of the ways.
- 11:55Speaker 3: One of the things that wealthy people know about building
- 11:58Speaker 3: wealth is that you have to say up an automatic
- 12:01Speaker 3: way to save.
- 12:02Speaker 2: If you don't have an automatic.
- 12:04Speaker 3: Way of saving, if it goes in your pocket, you're
- 12:07Speaker 3: more likely to spend it.
- 12:09Speaker 2: So you got to put aside, you know, whatever it is.
- 12:12Speaker 3: I don't care if it's a dollar a week, ten
- 12:14Speaker 3: dollars a week, hundred dollars, whatever you you think you
- 12:17Speaker 3: can afford to put a side into a savings account automatically.
- 12:22Speaker 3: It should go from your paycheck into a savings account,
- 12:25Speaker 3: or your paycheck to a four to one k, or
- 12:28Speaker 3: your paycheck to an investment account, and not go in
- 12:31Speaker 3: your pocket because if it goes in your pocket, you're
- 12:34Speaker 3: more likely to spend it. That's what wealthy people know,
- 12:37Speaker 3: and they've been doing this for many, many years. And
- 12:39Speaker 3: you look up and you see that you have a
- 12:41Speaker 3: substantial investment account or savings account. But these are things
- 12:46Speaker 3: that you know, we just need to learn. It's like
- 12:49Speaker 3: learning the games, Like learning a video game.
- 12:51Speaker 2: You got to know the rules.
- 12:54Speaker 3: In fact, you know, let me bring up another thing
- 12:56Speaker 3: you talk about check cashers. Check cashers only report to
- 12:59Speaker 3: the credit Euros when you don't pay them, so it
- 13:03Speaker 3: can only negatively impact your credit score. We said, that's crazy,
- 13:09Speaker 3: you know, with our cast Please program, which again the
- 13:12Speaker 3: interest rate is you know, one twentieth of that of
- 13:15Speaker 3: the check casher, but we also report positive payments, so
- 13:21Speaker 3: it can actually improve your credit score.
- 13:24Speaker 4: Please don't go anywhere. We'll be right back with more
- 13:27Speaker 4: Money Making Conversations Masterclass. Welcome back to the Money Making
- 13:36Speaker 4: Conversations Masterclass hosted by Rashaan McDonald for.
- 13:40Speaker 2: Our community to understand.
- 13:41Speaker 3: Not only do we have an app, but we also
- 13:44Speaker 3: use artificial intelligence. Now, this is sort of a new
- 13:48Speaker 3: thing that you know, some people are afraid of, but
- 13:52Speaker 3: it is the future and it is important for us
- 13:55Speaker 3: to see the future. So we have something called wise
- 13:58Speaker 3: one and what it is is a service that looks
- 14:03Speaker 3: at your bank account and provides you with insights about
- 14:08Speaker 3: how you could make more money. It will tell you
- 14:12Speaker 3: things like, you know, did you know that your bill
- 14:15Speaker 3: from you know, AT and T went up last month?
- 14:20Speaker 3: Do you know that you paid Netflix twice? You have
- 14:23Speaker 3: two Netflix bills? Do you know that you have some
- 14:27Speaker 3: additional cash that you should move to savings. It will
- 14:31Speaker 3: provide you with insights to your spending to help you
- 14:35Speaker 3: make better financial decisions. And it uses data aggregation, so
- 14:42Speaker 3: it can combine not only your bank account with US,
- 14:45Speaker 3: it can combine your mortgage. It can combine other accounts
- 14:48Speaker 3: you have with other organizations all into one. It will
- 14:52Speaker 3: tell you what your net worth is. It'll tell you
- 14:55Speaker 3: what your cash flow is, your income, your expenses, and
- 15:00Speaker 3: it'll tell you how you can reduce your dat and
- 15:03Speaker 3: how you can reduce your expenses. Which bills should you
- 15:07Speaker 3: pay first? You can either pay the highest the bill
- 15:11Speaker 3: with the highest interest.
- 15:12Speaker 2: Rate, or.
- 15:16Speaker 3: You can pay a bill that has a low interest rate.
- 15:20Speaker 3: But that is a smaller bill, right.
- 15:23Speaker 1: I'm a big fan of to get rid of the
- 15:26Speaker 1: small ones.
- 15:27Speaker 2: Yes, I am too. I am too out of college.
- 15:31Speaker 1: You know what I'm saying Exactly if you see a
- 15:33Speaker 1: medical degree gonna take you eight years to get to,
- 15:36Speaker 1: I'm gonna take some course. It's gonna make me happy
- 15:39Speaker 1: off some low bills immediately. I'm paying off those low
- 15:41Speaker 1: bill at least. That's called goal setting. A lot of
- 15:46Speaker 1: people get traumatized because they they set the wrong goal
- 15:50Speaker 1: and they then they, as they say in the neighborhood,
- 15:53Speaker 1: bite off more than you can shoot. R. Taylor, let
- 15:57Speaker 1: me let me just it's something you want to launch
- 15:59Speaker 1: on my show. I'm so proud that Terry chose and
- 16:01Speaker 1: launches on my show. I feel so good. I feel
- 16:04Speaker 1: like money made conversation. Get up in the big world.
- 16:06Speaker 1: One United Bank has come here.
- 16:08Speaker 2: Now you got the.
- 16:09Speaker 1: Fifteenth annual I Got Bank Youth Financial Literacy competition for
- 16:15Speaker 1: kids eight through twelve. Till us about that?
- 16:17Speaker 3: Yeah, So, like you said, it's our fifteenth year and
- 16:21Speaker 3: we provide a way for kids to learn about money.
- 16:26Speaker 3: I actually wrote a book called I Got Bank. If
- 16:30Speaker 3: you go to one Night dot com slash book, you
- 16:32Speaker 3: can learn about the contest, but you can also download
- 16:35Speaker 3: the book, so we make it free and it's a
- 16:38Speaker 3: book that teaches kids everything they need to know about money.
- 16:44Speaker 3: It's actually about a young boy named Jazz Ellington. He
- 16:48Speaker 3: is ten years old and his brother, his sister, and
- 16:53Speaker 3: his mother are trying to spend his savings. He saves
- 16:57Speaker 3: a little over two thousand dollars because he did what
- 17:00Speaker 3: his granddad taught him to do.
- 17:02Speaker 2: He just saved his money.
- 17:04Speaker 3: His money went right into his savings account, but his mother,
- 17:08Speaker 3: his brother, and sister are trying to.
- 17:09Speaker 2: Spend his money.
- 17:11Speaker 3: And the reason that I wrote that story is because
- 17:13Speaker 3: for a lot of us in our community, you know,
- 17:15Speaker 3: we might have one of us that is done okay,
- 17:19Speaker 3: and then everyone else, you know, wants to figure out
- 17:22Speaker 3: how that one person can help. And sometimes it's hard
- 17:26Speaker 3: for us to help everybody, but Jazz figures it out.
- 17:29Speaker 3: But this book, this essay contest, we give ten kids
- 17:34Speaker 3: a thousand dollars savings account, and all they have to
- 17:39Speaker 3: do is read a book, whether it's my book that
- 17:43Speaker 3: they can get for free or another financial literacy book,
- 17:47Speaker 3: and talk about how that book can help them help
- 17:51Speaker 3: their family. Now I say that, and this is what
- 17:55Speaker 3: I also say on your show.
- 17:57Speaker 2: We're not asking you for a book report. We don't
- 18:00Speaker 2: want a book report.
- 18:01Speaker 3: We want you to tell us what you learned from
- 18:04Speaker 3: the book and how you can use that learning to
- 18:07Speaker 3: build wealth for you and your family. We choose ten
- 18:11Speaker 3: or do a piece of art, So you could either
- 18:13Speaker 3: write an essay or do a piece of art, and
- 18:17Speaker 3: we will choose ten winners, and on August thirty first,
- 18:21Speaker 3: we will announce the winners.
- 18:23Speaker 2: Of the I Got Bank Essay contest.
- 18:26Speaker 3: Ten winners, ten kids win a thousand dollars savings account.
- 18:30Speaker 1: No, not, Terry, if you're going to launch it on
- 18:32Speaker 1: my show, you gotta come back on my show and
- 18:35Speaker 1: now it's the.
- 18:36Speaker 2: Winnow, Yes, I will. I absolutely will do that.
- 18:39Speaker 3: I would love to do that and maybe even have
- 18:41Speaker 3: one of the winners, one of the kids. I'm on
- 18:44Speaker 3: the show because I will tell you that it's amazing
- 18:48Speaker 3: what these kids write, what they learn. They are so
- 18:51Speaker 3: much further along than I know I was at ten
- 18:54Speaker 3: years old. Part of the reason I wrote the book
- 18:57Speaker 3: is because I couldn't figure out money when I was ten,
- 19:00Speaker 3: and I was like, that shouldn't be the case. And
- 19:02Speaker 3: these kids, either from reading my book or reading some
- 19:05Speaker 3: other book, they learn about money at a very young age,
- 19:09Speaker 3: and it makes it. In fact, I think all the
- 19:11Speaker 3: kids that participate our winners. I mean, we definitely have
- 19:15Speaker 3: the ten winners, but really every child that participates in
- 19:18Speaker 3: this contest wins.
- 19:20Speaker 1: So let measure you this, Terry, how do they apply?
- 19:24Speaker 3: They go to one United dot Com slash book.
- 19:27Speaker 1: Here's a lot of things are happening out there in
- 19:29Speaker 1: the community that affects our popa book.
- 19:32Speaker 2: What should black people be.
- 19:33Speaker 1: Doing with their money in these uncertain times?
- 19:35Speaker 2: Yeah, no, it's a really good question.
- 19:39Speaker 3: So we should know that there's likely to be some
- 19:42Speaker 3: sort of recession and there's likely to also be inflation.
- 19:47Speaker 3: This is twenty twenty five, and with everything that's going on,
- 19:51Speaker 3: there's something called stagflation. Your audience will hear that word.
- 19:55Speaker 2: More and more. And what it.
- 19:57Speaker 3: Is is usually when there's inflation, it's because the economy
- 20:01Speaker 3: is growing, or when there's you know, a loss of employment,
- 20:07Speaker 3: the economy is declining. In this case, what they're expecting
- 20:11Speaker 3: is that there to be inflation or increase in prices
- 20:15Speaker 3: and at the same time an increase in unemployment. And
- 20:21Speaker 3: because of that, what I say to everyone, hold on
- 20:24Speaker 3: to your job. This is not a time to be
- 20:27Speaker 3: taking a new job. We're always the last hired, first fire,
- 20:32Speaker 3: so hold on to your job. The second is to
- 20:36Speaker 3: start saving more and spending less because this economy is
- 20:41Speaker 3: going to be very, very difficult. Those are my two recommendations.
- 20:49Speaker 3: Hold on to your job, start spending less, saving more.
- 20:53Speaker 1: The narrative that's put out there is that Terry Wibbs
- 20:58Speaker 1: does not exist. The narrative that's put out there is
- 21:01Speaker 1: that one United Bank does not exist because when they
- 21:06Speaker 1: use the words like DEI, and they use the words
- 21:10Speaker 1: like welfare, they use the words like unemployment, they use
- 21:13Speaker 1: the words like anything that is negative, they make it
- 21:18Speaker 1: seem like black people are the sole benefactors of this,
- 21:22Speaker 1: and that's not true. White women dominate all those categories.
- 21:30Speaker 1: When they came out there screaming by DEI when those
- 21:33Speaker 1: planes crashed, you know, they was insinuating us. But that's
- 21:40Speaker 1: not true, like we were the ones benefited from DEI.
- 21:43Speaker 1: I will close the show with one question that's going
- 21:46Speaker 1: to be an extensive response by you because of the
- 21:49Speaker 1: one transaction concept, which focused on six major transactions that
- 21:55Speaker 1: working together will create generational wealth. I'm allowed the floor
- 22:00Speaker 1: to run them down to us and tell us the
- 22:02Speaker 1: importance to the floors.
- 22:04Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 22:05Speaker 3: Yeah, that's one of the things that we think is
- 22:08Speaker 3: important for our community to know, is that it really
- 22:10Speaker 3: is one transaction that can make a difference between you
- 22:14Speaker 3: being wealthy or not, in fact, building generational wealth, and
- 22:19Speaker 3: the six transactions include home ownership. In fact, that's one
- 22:24Speaker 3: of the other things that we have. If you go
- 22:26Speaker 3: to one Unite Dot com slash home loans.
- 22:29Speaker 2: You'll learn that we.
- 22:30Speaker 3: Are providing twenty five to fifty thousand dollars in downpayment
- 22:34Speaker 3: assistance to first time home buyers. So home ownership is one.
- 22:39Speaker 3: The second is insurance. Life insurance. Life insurance is a
- 22:46Speaker 3: really inexpensive way to build generational wealth. So whether that's
- 22:50Speaker 3: your parents or your grandparents, make sure they have insurance
- 22:52Speaker 3: so that when they pass that that those funds go to.
- 22:56Speaker 2: You or your or your childrens.
- 23:00Speaker 3: You know, look at investments as an option again, make
- 23:03Speaker 3: sure it goes from your paycheck into an investment account. Business,
- 23:13Speaker 3: you know, small businesses having a profitable business. So whether
- 23:19Speaker 3: it's you have a you know, sort of a gig
- 23:20Speaker 3: on the side, or whether you are an entrepreneur, but
- 23:24Speaker 3: having a profitable business can make the difference between you know,
- 23:28Speaker 3: you building wealth or you not building wealth. Credit score,
- 23:35Speaker 3: credit score is important, and that's why you know these
- 23:38Speaker 3: check cashers, they're they're worse, you know, because of the
- 23:41Speaker 3: the high interest rate that they charged. They actually only
- 23:47Speaker 3: can hurt your credit, they can't help your credit. Building
- 23:52Speaker 3: your credit is really important and again can make the difference.
- 23:57Speaker 3: And so if you can take those transactions home ownership, savings,
- 24:01Speaker 3: credit scores, profitable business insurance investments. If you look focused
- 24:07Speaker 3: on those six transactions, you can build generational wealth, and
- 24:11Speaker 3: you should focus on one of them. Just focus on
- 24:14Speaker 3: one and again. If you go to our website one
- 24:18Speaker 3: night dot com slash one Transaction, you will see all
- 24:21Speaker 3: of the six transactions and a step by step guide
- 24:24Speaker 3: that you can take to build generational wealth. Don't focus
- 24:28Speaker 3: on all six, focus on one.
- 24:32Speaker 1: Well, she's come on my show, Ladies and gentlemen. Terry Williams,
- 24:37Speaker 1: Owner President COO or one United Bank. There are three
- 24:41Speaker 1: uols that are important to remember from this call. One
- 24:45Speaker 1: United buck dot com. Going there, you can shut up
- 24:49Speaker 1: an account which will allow you to be able to
- 24:53Speaker 1: deposits your checks. Do direct deposits, get you paid two
- 24:57Speaker 1: days earlier. It allows you to go to any ATM
- 25:00Speaker 1: in this country with no fees charge and remove money
- 25:03Speaker 1: from your account that you've set up with One United.
- 25:06Speaker 1: They have a contest called It's the fifteenth Daniel I
- 25:09Speaker 1: Got Banked Youth Financial Literacy competition for kids eight through twelve.
- 25:14Speaker 1: That's eight through twelve. Ten kids will win one thousand
- 25:18Speaker 1: dollars saves account one ten kids. It's an artwork or
- 25:24Speaker 1: an essay. It's about financial literacy. It's about your approach
- 25:28Speaker 1: to success. That's one United Slash book. And it's the
- 25:33Speaker 1: last thing we talked about was the one Transaction concept.
- 25:37Speaker 1: It's one United Slash, one Transaction. Thank you Terry for
