- 0:01Speaker 1: This President will stand up for Americans of all religions,
- 0:04Speaker 1: of all faiths, of all creeds, and we will continue
- 0:07Speaker 1: to look at policy measures and actions that we can
- 0:10Speaker 1: take in addition to the actions that have already been
- 0:12Speaker 1: taken to curb this antisemitic violence into Jewish Americans at
- 0:16Speaker 1: home across the country. This President has you back.
- 0:19Speaker 2: You're listening to the forty seven Morning Update with Ben ferguson.
- 0:23Speaker 3: Good Wednesday morning. It's so nice to have you on
- 0:25Speaker 3: the forty seven Morning Update. And here are two very
- 0:28Speaker 3: big stories that we have for you this morning. First up,
- 0:31Speaker 3: Republicans are saying it's time for accountability when it comes
- 0:35Speaker 3: to taking advantage of government programs, including food stamps and
- 0:40Speaker 3: also medical health care. Why is it the Democrats are
- 0:43Speaker 3: now attacking Republicans after they used to be in favor
- 0:47Speaker 3: of this type of accountability. And how many lazy people
- 0:51Speaker 3: are taking all of our tax dollars. Well, we're going
- 0:54Speaker 3: to break that down for you in just a moment.
- 0:56Speaker 3: And also in a shocking story, Chinese national so now
- 1:00Speaker 3: been charged with smuggling agro terrorism weapons into the US
- 1:04Speaker 3: and doing research at American universities. It could cost us
- 1:09Speaker 3: billions of dollars and as threat to all of our agriculture.
- 1:14Speaker 3: I have the details of what the Trump administration is
- 1:16Speaker 3: doing to stop it in just a second. It's the
- 1:18Speaker 3: forty seven Morning Update and it starts right now.
- 1:21Speaker 2: Story number one.
- 1:22Speaker 3: When Donald Trump ran for president, he promised the American
- 1:26Speaker 3: people accountability, especially with waste, fraud and abuse. We know
- 1:31Speaker 3: what has been uncovered just through DOGE, but there's also
- 1:34Speaker 3: another type of accountability the President talked about, and that
- 1:38Speaker 3: is making sure that people aren't taking advantage of American
- 1:42Speaker 3: government programs because they're just being lazy. A great example
- 1:47Speaker 3: of this is the issue of work requirements for food stamps.
- 1:53Speaker 3: Republican lawmakers, back by former President Donald Trump, are now
- 1:58Speaker 3: advancing legislation to impose stricter work requirements on federal assistant
- 2:03Speaker 3: programs that also include Medicaid and SNAP, the Supplemental Nutrition
- 2:08Speaker 3: Assistance program also known as food stamps. The initiative is
- 2:12Speaker 3: part of the One Big Beautiful Bill, a comprehensive tax
- 2:16Speaker 3: and spending reform package that passed the House on May
- 2:20Speaker 3: the twenty second. The bill aims to offset four point
- 2:24Speaker 3: five trillion in tax cuts by reducing federal spending, including
- 2:28Speaker 3: significant cuts to medicaid fraud and snap fraud. Also allowing
- 2:34Speaker 3: for work requirements so that you can't just be lazy
- 2:38Speaker 3: taking advantage of the American taxpayer. Now, Republicans have been
- 2:42Speaker 3: very clear about this. They have argued that these work
- 2:46Speaker 3: requirements promote self sufficiency and reduce fraud. House Speaker Mike
- 2:51Speaker 3: Johnson has emphasized that the changes are designed to ensure
- 2:55Speaker 3: that able bodied American adults without dependence contribute to the workforce.
- 3:01Speaker 3: A study by the American Enterprise Institute found that non
- 3:05Speaker 3: disabled Medicaid recipients without children spend on average four point
- 3:11Speaker 3: two hours daily watching TV or playing video games, supporting
- 3:16Speaker 3: the GOP's stance on encouraging employment among this group. Now,
- 3:21Speaker 3: there's some hypocrisy that I'm going to expose for you
- 3:25Speaker 3: right now when it comes to the left, and I'm
- 3:27Speaker 3: going to play for you a montage of Democrats once
- 3:31Speaker 3: championing the welfare work requirements that they now are claiming
- 3:36Speaker 3: are quote abusive. Now, if you'll make sure that you
- 3:39Speaker 3: share this podcast wherever you can on social media and
- 3:43Speaker 3: also subscribe the shows, you don't miss any of this
- 3:47Speaker 3: information When I put it out, now would be the
- 3:49Speaker 3: time to do it now, Democrats are strongly opposing now
- 3:53Speaker 3: in twenty twenty five the work requirements they're arguing that
- 3:57Speaker 3: they quote would disproportionately affect vulnerable populations, including caregivers, individuals
- 4:04Speaker 3: with intermediate employment, and those with health issues not classified
- 4:08Speaker 3: as disabilities.
- 4:09Speaker 4: Now.
- 4:09Speaker 3: Former President Barack Obama even criticized the bills, sitting it
- 4:12Speaker 3: could strip healthcare coverage, he claimed from millions of Americans,
- 4:17Speaker 3: including seven point six million losing Medicaid and three point
- 4:20Speaker 3: one million losing marketplace insurance. Critics are also saying that
- 4:26Speaker 3: similar work requirements in states like Arkansas and Georgia have
- 4:29Speaker 3: led to significant coverage losses without substantial gains and employment. Well, so,
- 4:35Speaker 3: why is it now that Democrats are obsessed with helping
- 4:38Speaker 3: people commit fraud and also just being lazy, Especially when
- 4:42Speaker 3: you go back and listen to what they've said in
- 4:45Speaker 3: the past, It's pretty simple. They're trying to buy votes
- 4:48Speaker 3: now of people they believe are willing to vote for
- 4:51Speaker 3: them as long as they don't make them work and
- 4:53Speaker 3: take care of themselves or act like adults. So let
- 4:56Speaker 3: me just remind the Democrats of their hypocrisy. Here's the
- 5:00Speaker 3: mond tize that we put together to remind them of
- 5:03Speaker 3: their own words. Even Bill Clinton got in on the action.
- 5:06Speaker 5: Nearly thirty years ago, Robert Kennedy said, work is the
- 5:10Speaker 5: meaning of what this country is all about. We needed
- 5:13Speaker 5: as individuals, we need to sense it in our fellow citizens,
- 5:16Speaker 5: and we need it as a society and as a people.
- 5:19Speaker 5: He was right then, and it's right now. From now on,
- 5:22Speaker 5: our nation's answer to this great social challenge will no
- 5:25Speaker 5: longer be an ever ending cycle of welfare. It will
- 5:27Speaker 5: be the dignity, the power, and the ethic of work.
- 5:30Speaker 5: Today we are taking an historic chance to make welfare
- 5:33Speaker 5: what it was meant to be, a second chance, not
- 5:35Speaker 5: a way of life. This bill will help people to
- 5:38Speaker 5: go to work, so they can stop drawing a welfare
- 5:40Speaker 5: check and start drawing a paycheck. It is now clearly
- 5:43Speaker 5: better to go to work than to stay on welfare,
- 5:46Speaker 5: clearly better because of actions taken by the Congress in
- 5:49Speaker 5: this session. It is clearly better to end the terrible,
- 5:52Speaker 5: almost physical isolation of huge numbers of poor people in
- 5:56Speaker 5: their children from the rest of mainstream America.
- 5:59Speaker 6: We have to do that.
- 6:00Speaker 3: Today.
- 6:00Speaker 5: We are ending welfare as we know it, But I
- 6:03Speaker 5: hope this day will be remembered not for what it ended,
- 6:05Speaker 5: but for what it began. A new day that offers hope,
- 6:08Speaker 5: honors responsibility, rewards work, and changes the terms of the debate.
- 6:13Speaker 7: For too many. Welfare has been a way of life
- 6:16Speaker 7: for too long. It has condemned too many on welfare
- 6:19Speaker 7: to a lifetime at the margins of our society. Today
- 6:23Speaker 7: we start to change all that.
- 6:25Speaker 6: Anyone who wants to receive welfare must sign an individual
- 6:29Speaker 6: responsibility contract so that they're forced to agree upfront to
- 6:33Speaker 6: the conditions placed on receiving the benefit, and so that
- 6:36Speaker 6: they will have a plan from day one on how
- 6:40Speaker 6: to get themselves off of welfare. Put them to work
- 6:43Speaker 6: and make them want to go to work, and make
- 6:46Speaker 6: it reasonable for them.
- 6:48Speaker 8: To go to work.
- 6:48Speaker 6: Be mandatory work requirement for anyone receiving welfare.
- 6:51Speaker 9: They actually have charged and run ads saying that President
- 6:56Speaker 9: Obama wants to weaken the work requirements in the welfare
- 6:58Speaker 9: reform bill that moved millions of people from welfare to work.
- 7:02Speaker 9: Oh wait, the requirement was for more work, not less.
- 7:06Speaker 9: I am telling you the claim that President Obama weaken
- 7:10Speaker 9: welfare reforms work requirement is just not true.
- 7:13Speaker 1: Best anti poverty program as a job which confers not
- 7:17Speaker 1: just income, but structure and dignity and a sense of
- 7:20Speaker 1: connection to community.
- 7:22Speaker 3: Total and utter hypocrisy from the left. Now, as the
- 7:25Speaker 3: bill moves to the Senate, it faces resistance from both
- 7:29Speaker 3: Democrat and Republican holdouts who are concerned about the potential
- 7:34Speaker 3: impact on their constituents, and they also claim the national debt.
- 7:38Speaker 3: The reality is, this plan spearheaded by Donald Trump is
- 7:42Speaker 3: one that's long overdue and one that virtually every major
- 7:47Speaker 3: leader in the Democratic Party in the past has supported.
- 7:50Speaker 3: So why are they not supporting it now? Solely because
- 7:53Speaker 3: they're trying to buy votes and allow people to take
- 7:56Speaker 3: advantage of you, the taxpayer.
- 7:58Speaker 2: Now. Story number two.
- 7:59Speaker 3: Is it's a story that you may only have heard
- 8:02Speaker 3: about if you lived in Detroit and we're watching the
- 8:04Speaker 3: local news. Chinese nationals now charge was smuggling agro terrorism
- 8:10Speaker 3: weapon into the United States of America. The question you
- 8:14Speaker 3: should be asking yourself is this, why would the Chinese
- 8:18Speaker 3: do this?
- 8:19Speaker 8: And the second.
- 8:19Speaker 3: Question you should be asking yourself is why is the
- 8:22Speaker 3: media not warning you about what just happened. Now, these
- 8:26Speaker 3: two Chinese nationals have been charged with conspiracy, fraud, and
- 8:31Speaker 3: smuggling a deadly biopathogen into the United States of America,
- 8:35Speaker 3: And as I said a moment ago, if you weren't
- 8:37Speaker 3: in Detroit, you probably didn't know that this threat to
- 8:41Speaker 3: our entire nation even happen. How did the Detroit Channel
- 8:46Speaker 3: seven News cover it, Well, here's what they had to
- 8:48Speaker 3: say about the pathogen coming through their airport.
- 8:51Speaker 10: Now to two Chinese nationals with ties to the University
- 8:55Speaker 10: of Michigan facing federal charges, accused of smuggling a dangerous
- 8:59Speaker 10: biological agent through Detroit Metro Airport.
- 9:02Speaker 11: Thirty three year old Yin qing gn and her boyfriend
- 9:06Speaker 11: Xi Yung Lu are charged with conspiracy, smuggling, making false
- 9:10Speaker 11: statements to investigators, and visa fraud.
- 9:13Speaker 10: Here's why this COUDE had been such a big deal.
- 9:15Speaker 10: Federal prosecutors calling the pathogen a potential agro terrorism weapon
- 9:20Speaker 10: that could be used for targeting crops like wheat, barley, corn,
- 9:24Speaker 10: and rice.
- 9:24Speaker 11: Seven News Detroit reporter Frozjavid was in federal court and
- 9:28Speaker 11: has more.
- 9:29Speaker 4: On Tuesday, thirty three year old un Chingjion made her
- 9:31Speaker 4: initial appearance at the federal courthouse in downtown Detroit. Right
- 9:35Speaker 4: behind me in front of Magistrate Judge Kimberly Altman Jian,
- 9:39Speaker 4: a postdoc research fellow at the University of Michigan from China,
- 9:42Speaker 4: has been charged with smuggling a biological pathogen that has
- 9:46Speaker 4: been described as a potential agricultural terrorism weapon that is
- 9:51Speaker 4: kind of scary.
- 9:51Speaker 1: You kind of just don't understand why something like this
- 9:54Speaker 1: would happen.
- 9:54Speaker 8: U of M students Camilla Webb and ton Vi Deega
- 9:57Speaker 8: are trying to wrap their heads around how it all happened.
- 10:00Speaker 8: This twenty five page federal complaint outlines how the alleged
- 10:03Speaker 8: crime transpired at Detroit Metro Airport. On July twenty seventh,
- 10:08Speaker 8: twenty twenty four, US Customs and Border Protection officers detained
- 10:11Speaker 8: Jeon's thirty four year old boyfriend, Lunyong Leo, also a
- 10:14Speaker 8: Chinese national, for carrying Fusarium gramminarium of plant based pathogen.
- 10:19Speaker 8: The complaint describes this fungus as capable of producing microtoxins
- 10:23Speaker 8: that adversely affects crops, humans, and animals, causing billions of
- 10:27Speaker 8: dollars in economic losses globally each year. During the investigation,
- 10:32Speaker 8: Leo initially denied possessing the pathogen, but later admitted to
- 10:36Speaker 8: bringing it into the country for research at the University
- 10:39Speaker 8: of Michigan, where Jeon worked in the lab.
- 10:41Speaker 1: It's kind of shocking that our resources are being used
- 10:43Speaker 1: for something like this.
- 10:44Speaker 8: A joint investigation by the FBI and CBP reviewed electronic
- 10:48Speaker 8: communications between Leo and Jeon. Evidence showed discussions on shipping
- 10:52Speaker 8: biological materials and research activities at the lab prior to
- 10:56Speaker 8: Leo's arrival. Additionally, electronic records indicate Genas involvement in previous
- 11:01Speaker 8: smuggling activities.
- 11:02Speaker 4: Yeah, I would have never expected something like that to
- 11:04Speaker 4: happen at our school.
- 11:05Speaker 8: Investigators also found evidence linking Jion to the Chinese Communist
- 11:10Speaker 8: Party and receiving funding for her postdoctoral work from a
- 11:13Speaker 8: foundation largely supported by the Chinese government.
- 11:17Speaker 4: Now, Gion is being held in federal custody until Thursday,
- 11:21Speaker 4: June fifth. That's when Magistrate Judge Altman will decide on
- 11:25Speaker 4: Jion's detention or bond at the next hearing. Meanwhile, Gion's boyfriend, Leo,
- 11:30Speaker 4: was denied entry into the US and was sent back.
- 11:33Speaker 8: To China on the day of the incident.
- 11:35Speaker 4: From downtown, I'm Pada's job seven US Detroit.
- 11:38Speaker 3: Why is it that you're not hearing about this nationwide.
- 11:42Speaker 3: Why is it that a story this big, that could
- 11:45Speaker 3: have this big of an impact on our lives in
- 11:48Speaker 3: America is just being covered up by the mainstream media.
- 11:52Speaker 3: Thank goodness. The FBI director Cash Pttel put out a
- 11:56Speaker 3: lengthy statement bringing all this information to the public's saying
- 12:01Speaker 3: quote new I can confirm that the FBI arrested a
- 12:04Speaker 3: Chinese national within the United States who allegedly smuggled a
- 12:08Speaker 3: dangerous biological pathogen into the country. The individual is alleged
- 12:13Speaker 3: to have smuggled a dangerous fungus, which is a agro
- 12:17Speaker 3: terrorism agent, into the US to research at the University
- 12:20Speaker 3: of Michigan, where she works. This fungus can cause a
- 12:23Speaker 3: disease called head light, a disease of wheat, barley, and rice,
- 12:28Speaker 3: causing significant health issues in both humans and livestock. It
- 12:32Speaker 3: is responsible for billions of dollars in economic losses worldwide
- 12:37Speaker 3: each year. Evidence also indicates Jelina had expressed loyal to
- 12:42Speaker 3: the Chinese Communist Party and had received funding from the
- 12:45Speaker 3: Chinese government for similar work on the pathogen in China.
- 12:48Speaker 3: Now the FBI director also talks about her boyfriend, also
- 12:52Speaker 3: charged the complaint, working at a Chinese university where he
- 12:56Speaker 3: conducts research on the same pathogen. They also say that
- 13:00Speaker 3: he lied and then admitted that he also smuggled this
- 13:04Speaker 3: pathogen into America through the Detroit Metropolitan Airport so that
- 13:08Speaker 3: he could also conduct research at the University of Michigan. Now,
- 13:12Speaker 3: both these individuals have been charged with conspiracy, smuggling goods
- 13:16Speaker 3: in the United States, false statements, and also visa fraud. Now,
- 13:21Speaker 3: then the FBI director says, this this case is a
- 13:24Speaker 3: sobering reminder. Chinese Communist Party is working around the clock
- 13:28Speaker 3: to deploy operatives and researchers to infiltrate American institutions and
- 13:35Speaker 3: target our food supply, which would have grave consequences, putting
- 13:40Speaker 3: American lives and also our economy at serious risk. Your
- 13:45Speaker 3: FBI will continue working tirelessly to be on guard against it.
- 13:49Speaker 3: This is exactly why the American people voted for Donald Trump,
- 13:52Speaker 3: because he was going to put people in charge like
- 13:55Speaker 3: Caspittel to tell you what's actually happening. Now, it's sad
- 13:58Speaker 3: that only people into de Troit know the whole story
- 14:02Speaker 3: as we played for you, and I hope you'll take
- 14:04Speaker 3: it and share it everywhere you can.
