- 0:08Speaker 2: experience firsthand by marketing and Brandon expert Rashan McDonald. I
- 0:12Speaker 2: will know he's giving me advice on many occasions. And
- 0:14Speaker 2: in case you didn't notice, I'm not broke. You know
- 0:17Speaker 2: he'll be interviewing celebrity CEOs, entrepreneurs and industry decision make
- 0:21Speaker 2: because it's what he likes to do, it's what he
- 0:23Speaker 2: likes to share. Now it's time to hear from my man,
- 0:26Speaker 2: Rashan McDonald money making conversations.
- 0:28Speaker 3: Here we go.
- 0:31Speaker 1: Welcome back to money making conversation. My guess is our
- 0:33Speaker 1: Quincya sellaway. She established the first ever black virtual mall
- 0:38Speaker 1: and is taking e commerce to the next level. At Quincya,
- 0:41Speaker 1: the mall includes a according to her, and we'll talk
- 0:44Speaker 1: about that. It's a virtual mall, so while we online,
- 0:47Speaker 1: you can probably she's going to give out the location
- 0:49Speaker 1: on the web of the address, so you can Walley,
- 0:52Speaker 1: listen to the interview and then do some shopping at
- 0:54Speaker 1: the same time. A variety of Kiosks shops and unique
- 0:58Speaker 1: features such as a food court in movie theaters. Recognized
- 1:01Speaker 1: as the first virtual commercial property development that is online globally.
- 1:07Speaker 1: I remember this first broke. I mean she got interviewed
- 1:09Speaker 1: in for magazine and it was a forerunner of just
- 1:13Speaker 1: a forward thinking idea and concept. Aquincia is creating a
- 1:16Speaker 1: new genre in the emerging metaverse landscape to advanced women
- 1:20Speaker 1: and minority entrepreneurs. Please welcome to Money Making Conversation Masterclass,
- 1:26Speaker 1: Alquincia Cella Waine. How you doing a Quincio?
- 1:30Speaker 4: I wonder if I'm so happy and honored to be
- 1:33Speaker 4: speaking with you, miss McDonald, Thank you for having me.
- 1:35Speaker 1: Well, let's give a little background on our relationship I
- 1:38Speaker 1: was doing. I had a client. I was doing the
- 1:40Speaker 1: Porsche TV show and Porsche is based in Atlanta, Georgia
- 1:46Speaker 1: on Fox and it also syndicates on Fox Soul nationally
- 1:50Speaker 1: and as a half hour show. Really good. The host
- 1:52Speaker 1: is a very well liked hosts and a very popular show.
- 1:56Speaker 1: And you were the against the what I guess would
- 1:59Speaker 1: like the shark tank person sitting in there. They pitched
- 2:02Speaker 1: to you and you would tell them what was wrong
- 2:06Speaker 1: with their product or how they can advance their product
- 2:09Speaker 1: and giving them advice. Is am I saying that correctly?
- 2:14Speaker 4: Yes, Yes, definitely and on pitching and pitching as well. Yes, definitely,
- 2:18Speaker 4: okay cool.
- 2:19Speaker 1: Now, how did the people on the Porsche Talk show
- 2:22Speaker 1: find out about you?
- 2:25Speaker 4: Porsche saw me. I was featured at the Mahogany Hallmark
- 2:30Speaker 4: Mahogany Moment event and I was on the panel as
- 2:34Speaker 4: one of the speakers for these small business strategies, and
- 2:39Speaker 4: in that moment I did something very different where I
- 2:43Speaker 4: gave all of the information on how to scale, how
- 2:47Speaker 4: to create a digital product and create a customer service team.
- 2:51Speaker 4: And I gave that in ninety seconds, and she was
- 2:55Speaker 4: very impressed by that.
- 2:59Speaker 1: I present, I'm in person, does not just throw it
- 3:01Speaker 1: all over the Porsche. I'm prin so slow. Everybody tell
- 3:05Speaker 1: everybody in eighty seconds? What did you do?
- 3:09Speaker 4: And I gave her, So would you like me to
- 3:11Speaker 4: tell you exactly?
- 3:13Speaker 1: Absolutely?
- 3:14Speaker 4: Okay, well fantastic. So here's if you're looking to create
- 3:18Speaker 4: a digital product, this is what I tell people. One,
- 3:22Speaker 4: if you can tell me five things that you need
- 3:24Speaker 4: to know that I would need to know to start
- 3:26Speaker 4: your business. If you could tell me five things I
- 3:28Speaker 4: need to avoid to start your business. And if you
- 3:31Speaker 4: could tell me five things that you wish you knew
- 3:33Speaker 4: when you started your business. You have fifteen chapters of
- 3:36Speaker 4: an e book. After that, you would simply add your
- 3:39Speaker 4: intro and your conclusion. Now from there you would go
- 3:42Speaker 4: over to PowerPoint, get some amazing images. If you don't
- 3:45Speaker 4: have any of your ownest and stock images, insert those
- 3:48Speaker 4: images and then narrate that. So one you have the
- 3:52Speaker 4: e book, and now that you've narrated, you have a
- 3:54Speaker 4: video course. From there, you extract that audio, say that
- 3:57Speaker 4: as an MP three and you have an audible. And
- 4:00Speaker 4: remember when I asked you, you know, what were the
- 4:02Speaker 4: five things that you wish you news. You take those
- 4:05Speaker 4: and you create a resource guide. So you put all
- 4:07Speaker 4: of them links to those websites and everything. Now, before
- 4:10Speaker 4: you do that, I would also suggest you go and
- 4:12Speaker 4: look for an affiliate link to see if they have that,
- 4:14Speaker 4: so you get your a couple of coins as well.
- 4:16Speaker 4: But you know, be a integrity, get the best in
- 4:18Speaker 4: class even if you can't get the affiliate link, and
- 4:21Speaker 4: then you have the resource guy. Now you would also
- 4:23Speaker 4: want to show some before and afters how to do
- 4:25Speaker 4: it and how to not do it. That would be
- 4:27Speaker 4: called a cheat cheep. And then you would take all
- 4:29Speaker 4: of that import that into uplinkly on Shopify, and now
- 4:33Speaker 4: you have a digital product. And if you want to
- 4:36Speaker 4: mock up so you can go to my ecovermaker dot com.
- 4:39Speaker 1: Okay, now, now here's the thing. So many people want
- 4:48Speaker 1: to do what you're doing, and so many people have advice.
- 4:51Speaker 1: I do this show and I'm working off of experience.
- 4:55Speaker 1: So when people call me, I really don't get stomped
- 4:58Speaker 1: because I've been able to do a lot of things
- 5:01Speaker 1: in my life and make a lot of mistakes in
- 5:03Speaker 1: my life. I always tell people mistakes of valuable resources
- 5:07Speaker 1: to give people advice on because of the fact that
- 5:11Speaker 1: by making a mistake, you can tell people what not
- 5:13Speaker 1: to do. Now Here you are in your life, you
- 5:17Speaker 1: sitting around being creative a virtual mall. Now, how did
- 5:23Speaker 1: that concept come about? In what year did it come about?
- 5:29Speaker 4: Well, I've been on Instagram since twenty twelve. In terms
- 5:33Speaker 4: of actually utilizing a platform to showcase black owned businesses,
- 5:37Speaker 4: I've done that in several different capacities, whether it was
- 5:40Speaker 4: just running free promotion sometimes every Friday, running the ten
- 5:44Speaker 4: Black you know here Uti Salonga to ten Black beauty
- 5:49Speaker 4: supply stores when we were running into racial tensions and
- 5:52Speaker 4: things like That's always done that, but during COVID, I
- 5:56Speaker 4: was already kind of in that digital space. I had
- 5:59Speaker 4: my app development company and I have to put on
- 6:02Speaker 4: an online virtual event. But I noticed that forty one
- 6:06Speaker 4: percent of black owned businesses posed in twenty twenty one,
- 6:11Speaker 4: so I put a pause in what I was initially
- 6:13Speaker 4: going to do. And I wanted to give a solution
- 6:16Speaker 4: for helping those brick and mortar mom and pop shops
- 6:20Speaker 4: that maybe didn't really know how to use social media.
- 6:23Speaker 4: So instead of trying to force them to learn, I
- 6:27Speaker 4: just leaned on what we knew about the malls and
- 6:30Speaker 4: created the digital mall so that I could just kind
- 6:32Speaker 4: of give them that traffic by housing everyone in one stop.
- 6:35Speaker 4: And I wanted to do it in a very new way.
- 6:39Speaker 1: So one goes on, first of all, what is the
- 6:42Speaker 1: EOL address for your mall?
- 6:45Speaker 4: That is the Black Virtual Mall. So I also use
- 6:48Speaker 4: the keywords in the title, the Black Virtual Mall. So
- 6:52Speaker 4: for anyone else if you're thinking about a new business name,
- 6:54Speaker 4: that's kind of a hack and landed me on the
- 6:56Speaker 4: first two pages of Google with no money at all,
- 7:00Speaker 4: because so as they search for it, I'm actually the thing.
- 7:04Speaker 1: So anybody types in black Virtual you just pop up.
- 7:09Speaker 4: Yep. If you go to Google, I can black Versual
- 7:12Speaker 4: maw I definitely come up.
- 7:14Speaker 1: That's fantastic. But was this part of the thought process
- 7:19Speaker 1: when you named it, or you were just establishing a
- 7:21Speaker 1: brand that you knew that was necessary based on the
- 7:25Speaker 1: success that you had on Instagram And right now you
- 7:27Speaker 1: have over two hundred and nine thousand followers on Instagram,
- 7:31Speaker 1: so one has to say you are an influencer in
- 7:34Speaker 1: the entrepreneurial space as well as being a black influencer. Correct.
- 7:40Speaker 4: Yeah, So the thought behind it, of course is intentional
- 7:43Speaker 4: and unapologetic, but the thought in terms of the name
- 7:46Speaker 4: was very strategic. It was a method that I had
- 7:49Speaker 4: come across on my own and realized, like you said,
- 7:53Speaker 4: those mistakes the last time. I realized that starting businesses sometimes,
- 7:57Speaker 4: you know, people forget the name of the business. Especially Listen,
- 8:01Speaker 4: my name is all Quincia, Okay, So I know what
- 8:04Speaker 4: it's like to have a complicated name that people often forget.
- 8:07Speaker 4: So if you name something, you know, really creative and complicated,
- 8:11Speaker 4: we're gonna forget.
- 8:12Speaker 1: At Quincia and we're gonna forget that. Okay, Well I
- 8:15Speaker 1: would at Quinta. You know, you know I would now
- 8:18Speaker 1: when I was on the Porch Show with you, now
- 8:20Speaker 1: you had another name? Did you say you even use
- 8:23Speaker 1: that name too? Now what is the other name? Did
- 8:25Speaker 1: you cool with her using?
- 8:28Speaker 4: Because I just have to go and be as complicated
- 8:30Speaker 4: as my mother was in nineteen seventy five. So my
- 8:34Speaker 4: moniker is at conundrum. It's a player on my sorority
- 8:38Speaker 4: letters AKA, but it's just a conundrum, right, all right.
- 8:42Speaker 4: So I never thought about I never thought about being
- 8:45Speaker 4: a person. That was just my personal name. I never
- 8:48Speaker 4: thought of it as a brand and law and behold
- 8:50Speaker 4: now I'm stuck with it. So you know, it's like,
- 8:52Speaker 4: did this woman give us the most complicated Quincia acronundrum
- 8:56Speaker 4: sellaway and she just went picked all three of the
- 8:58Speaker 4: hardest things ever. So that's that.
- 9:02Speaker 1: The acnendrum is your middle name.
- 9:06Speaker 4: No, it's just the name that I chold.
- 9:07Speaker 1: You you need to go track your mom.
- 9:14Speaker 4: You know she did name me after Algreen and Quincy Jones.
- 9:17Speaker 4: And if anyone's listening, I'm trying to get a paternity
- 9:19Speaker 4: test with us.
- 9:19Speaker 5: You know.
- 9:22Speaker 1: That's fantastic, you know, because because I remember just just
- 9:24Speaker 1: meeting you and the thing about it is that the
- 9:27Speaker 1: number one thing my big takeaway, you know, because I
- 9:30Speaker 1: want to break down what exactly is the mall and
- 9:33Speaker 1: how the experience is because I went to the mall
- 9:36Speaker 1: and virtually it is you see people walking around, it's
- 9:39Speaker 1: kind of almost like if it really is, like wow,
- 9:42Speaker 1: this is really cool because it really does create an
- 9:47Speaker 1: experience and then you just start clicking your way like
- 9:50Speaker 1: you're in the.
- 9:50Speaker 4: Mall, correct, yes, sir, Yes, sir. And so it's very intuitive.
- 9:57Speaker 4: I wanted to, you know, lean into that less steel
- 10:00Speaker 4: where we feel like we're doing something more futuristic. But
- 10:04Speaker 4: what I didn't want to do is have all of
- 10:07Speaker 4: the burden issues or for people to adapt onto it.
- 10:12Speaker 4: So you don't need Ocula's headsets, you don't have to
- 10:15Speaker 4: create a character or an avtar. Everything is just right
- 10:20Speaker 4: there and you do couping and just go through the
- 10:23Speaker 4: actual visual experience of it.
- 10:26Speaker 6: Yeah.
- 10:26Speaker 4: So the very intuitive in that regard and so brown.
- 10:30Speaker 4: And also it has a futuristic feel, it's still been
- 10:34Speaker 4: reality when you look inside of you know, it looks
- 10:37Speaker 4: like a traditional mall with the movie theater and the
- 10:40Speaker 4: food court and everything you used to Yes, sir, I laugh.
- 10:43Speaker 1: Because it just sounds really cool, you know, because we
- 10:46Speaker 1: you know, we are a world of apps, you know,
- 10:50Speaker 1: which you're launching something where people are mobile friendly and
- 10:54Speaker 1: people are just inside world. Is like, you know, one
- 10:58Speaker 1: of the biggest sell days the world now is you know,
- 11:01Speaker 1: Cyber Monday, and then Black Friday, and then I think
- 11:06Speaker 1: a small business Saturday. All these days, all these days.
- 11:11Speaker 1: How do you, as a as an entrepreneur or the
- 11:14Speaker 1: Black Virtual Mall play into these important online dates and
- 11:19Speaker 1: how do you market yourself or tie yourself into it
- 11:22Speaker 1: to be an asset to the black businesses of the
- 11:26Speaker 1: black entrepreneurs who come onto your platform.
- 11:30Speaker 4: Well, what I do is, of course as everyone else
- 11:33Speaker 4: do's traditionally, I utilize my email list, I utilize my page.
- 11:37Speaker 4: So the Black Virtual Mall page has about nearly fifteen
- 11:40Speaker 4: thousand followers, singers organic. I'm sorry, you broke up a
- 11:44Speaker 4: little bit of all of my marketing.
- 11:46Speaker 1: You broke up a little bit. How many followers, how
- 11:49Speaker 1: many followers you said you you had.
- 11:51Speaker 4: So the Black Virtual Mall has thirteen eight hundred followers,
- 11:56Speaker 4: and all of that was absolutely organic. So, of course
- 11:59Speaker 4: I utilize my online traffic, I utilize my email, I
- 12:03Speaker 4: utilize my app followers. So all of my marketing thus
- 12:07Speaker 4: far had been organic, and to be quite honest with you,
- 12:12Speaker 4: I wanted to make sure that when we launched this,
- 12:15Speaker 4: that my system was stable, that it could handle large
- 12:19Speaker 4: numbers of traffic before I put too many coins behind
- 12:23Speaker 4: it and have it disrupt and that be the worst
- 12:27Speaker 4: you know day. I used to work for Edible Arrangements,
- 12:29Speaker 4: and I know how it is to have your biggest
- 12:31Speaker 4: marketing day be your most failed day. It comes to
- 12:34Speaker 4: delivering and and and that's a really bad thing. So
- 12:37Speaker 4: it's always been a little fear of mine. But now
- 12:40Speaker 4: we know, I've pressure tested the system under duress, under
- 12:44Speaker 4: same day on boarding. Now I am ready to really
- 12:47Speaker 4: push the marketing. And also there's a new need for it.
- 12:51Speaker 1: Well, right, we're talking about a conundrum, a quincia. What
- 12:57Speaker 1: should I say? What should I say?
- 13:00Speaker 4: Acnundrum is fine?
- 13:02Speaker 1: Okay, we're gonna We're gonna ride with DA because I
- 13:04Speaker 1: just love it. I just love you have all these
- 13:06Speaker 1: great names. Okay, now to be on the to be
- 13:10Speaker 1: the creator forbat like that, it was introduced and Forbes
- 13:14Speaker 1: magazine magazine jumped on it want an interview. Why did
- 13:17Speaker 1: they feel the need to interview you, and why did
- 13:19Speaker 1: they feel your idea was so innovative.
- 13:23Speaker 4: Well, the person when she's a senior contributor, Miss Janis Gassam,
- 13:28Speaker 4: and she specializes in conversation under diversity, equity and inclusions. Okay,
- 13:33Speaker 4: And honestly she had actually interviewed me in twenty nineteen,
- 13:39Speaker 4: and to be a percent transparent, it is when I
- 13:42Speaker 4: actually did start to focus. I pivoted my page only
- 13:45Speaker 4: to business and only to offering advice that I had
- 13:48Speaker 4: been formally educated on in my experience for free. And
- 13:52Speaker 4: she contacted me, and at the time I was broke
- 13:56Speaker 4: and I said, wait forbes, I think you got the
- 13:57Speaker 4: wrong person. She said no, she said, I want to
- 14:02Speaker 4: write about you because I've been following you for years
- 14:05Speaker 4: and you give away so much information for free at
- 14:08Speaker 4: that time at no course, is no product or anything.
- 14:10Speaker 4: I just spent my time educating. And I remember I
- 14:13Speaker 4: wrote down in at when she interviewed me, I wrote
- 14:15Speaker 4: my fodge interview and I scratched that out and I
- 14:17Speaker 4: said my first and I made a commitment that I
- 14:20Speaker 4: was going to have something worthy of, you know, marketing wise,
- 14:24Speaker 4: for her and law and behold I did so I
- 14:26Speaker 4: was already on her radar.
- 14:27Speaker 1: Wow, we were right back with more more Black Virtual
- 14:31Speaker 1: Moll information from Matt Quintia. You know Selawain. You know
- 14:36Speaker 1: it's going to be a lot of things happening here today.
- 14:39Speaker 1: Christmas is coming up, Thanksgiving coming up for Cyber Monday's
- 14:42Speaker 1: coming up here. More importantly, when I talked to her,
- 14:45Speaker 1: I just felt inspired to be able to bring on
- 14:47Speaker 1: the show because when you have a groundbreaking venture, which
- 14:51Speaker 1: I feel this is it, This is where you know
- 14:53Speaker 1: an individual. It's so many small businesses are trying to
- 14:56Speaker 1: have formats of footprints where they can go. Will you
- 14:58Speaker 1: not have a mall, a black virtual mall where you
- 15:01Speaker 1: can put your product. When we come back, we're going
- 15:04Speaker 1: to find out how you can get your product and
- 15:06Speaker 1: how she screens these products to make sure that she's
- 15:11Speaker 1: installing people in these formats, stores, these kiosks, if you
- 15:16Speaker 1: have some movies you want to run into movie theaters.
- 15:18Speaker 1: How all this works. When we come back with more
- 15:20Speaker 1: money Making Conversation master Class. The Black Virtual Mall, you

- 15:44Speaker 7: This week, I sat down with award winning actor, best
- 15:46Speaker 7: selling author, and entrepreneur He'll Harper. He stopped by and
- 15:50Speaker 7: talked about how his thyreut cancer diagnosis led to his
- 15:53Speaker 7: role as a health and wellness ambassador, teaching everyday people
- 15:57Speaker 7: how to live healthier lives.
- 16:00Speaker 8: We believe that a lot of the root cause of
- 16:02Speaker 8: cancer has to do with what we put on our skin.
- 16:04Speaker 8: Our skin is the largest organ on our body and
- 16:07Speaker 8: orps everything. Just as if you hate it, your ender, consistent,
- 16:10Speaker 8: your liver, your kidneys have to deal with it. And
- 16:13Speaker 8: they said, the reason why I will never be tested
- 16:14Speaker 8: because the same companies that make the lotions to contain
- 16:17Speaker 8: the aluminum, the petroleum, the parabis and the oils and
- 16:20Speaker 8: all these things. The same companies who make that are
- 16:22Speaker 8: also the same companies as a drug company, so they're
- 16:25Speaker 8: never going to do a long term study of the
- 16:28Speaker 8: effects of their product.

- 17:29Speaker 1: why I brought on the show, broke new ground and
- 17:31Speaker 1: online shopping and virtual experiences, reshaping conventional understanding of e
- 17:36Speaker 1: commerce and virtual real estate. The mall includes a variety
- 17:39Speaker 1: of kioskies, shops and unique features such as a food
- 17:43Speaker 1: court and movie theater. When I say all that that's

- 18:30Speaker 4: go and we overlook their reviews, We go to their
- 18:33Speaker 4: social media to see how their engagement is with their
- 18:35Speaker 4: customers and so forth, and so we're very selective. One
- 18:41Speaker 4: we limit how many users we have in the mall
- 18:44Speaker 4: to five hundred, and that's because we want to make
- 18:47Speaker 4: sure that our sellers get high visibility. A lot of
- 18:51Speaker 4: the larger platforms, that's the one thing that they do
- 18:53Speaker 4: have going for them as they're large, and for the sellers,
- 18:56Speaker 4: it means that you don't really get seen. We also
- 18:58Speaker 4: limit the industry so that we don't have oversaturation. So
- 19:02Speaker 4: if we do have the fifteen seems companies will limit
- 19:06Speaker 4: it to that and so it won't be over over laden.
- 19:10Speaker 4: And one of the things that really separates us is
- 19:12Speaker 4: that we're brand We're brand centric, not product centric. So
- 19:16Speaker 4: whereas a lot of people are asked, you know, where
- 19:18Speaker 4: did you get that from? Oh, Amazon, they can't remember
- 19:22Speaker 4: the individual seller. So on our platform, instead of you
- 19:25Speaker 4: just seeing one item, you see all of the branding
- 19:28Speaker 4: assets to that company on their storefront, and when you
- 19:32Speaker 4: click it, it directs you to their website, so that
- 19:35Speaker 4: transaction ends with that company. We don't involve ourselves in
- 19:38Speaker 4: any of their financial transactions, so there's no coll mingling
- 19:41Speaker 4: the funds, and they also benefit from that traffic, and
- 19:45Speaker 4: the customer knows exactly who they are, and again they
- 19:48Speaker 4: can just go to join the black virtualmall dot com.
- 19:51Speaker 1: Okay, so how do you make money e Quentia, Well.
- 19:56Speaker 4: We charge a flat fee for rent okay. So that's
- 19:59Speaker 4: a another thing that is very separate. So we don't
- 20:02Speaker 4: charge a commission or feed. So our rent is very,
- 20:05Speaker 4: very very doable. Our bookstore, music store, art store fifty
- 20:10Speaker 4: dollars a month. The Kiosk is one hundred, the stores
- 20:13Speaker 4: are one fifty and the premium stores are two hundred.
- 20:16Speaker 4: There's no contract, it's months to month. You can cancel
- 20:19Speaker 4: at any point in time, and regardless of how much
- 20:22Speaker 4: money you make, you make ten thousand dollars, we still
- 20:25Speaker 4: charge a flat feed for the rent.
- 20:27Speaker 1: Wow, that sounds like it sounds reasonable. Devin. Now you're
- 20:31Speaker 1: doing Devin. We have a caller who's interested in the
- 20:33Speaker 1: Black Virtual Maw. Devin. How you doing, Welcome to Money
- 20:36Speaker 1: Making Conversation Masterclass. How you doing?
- 20:38Speaker 6: Thank you? I'm doing very well. First of all, I
- 20:40Speaker 6: appreciate your show. We listen just about every week and
- 20:44Speaker 6: just want to come in you on the work that
- 20:45Speaker 6: you're doing. First of all. Second of all, I want
- 20:49Speaker 6: to say piece ingredients to you, coach ak and how
- 20:56Speaker 6: you doing? How you doing? I just wanted to give
- 20:58Speaker 6: you your flowers because I'm hearing you on the radio coming
- 21:01Speaker 6: throughout my entire household right now. We listen every week,
- 21:05Speaker 6: so I wanted to give you your flowers, say thank you,
- 21:07Speaker 6: and just shout you out on the radio. Because everybody
- 21:11Speaker 6: that's listening to this woman truly cares about the people
- 21:13Speaker 6: that she takes on his clients, truly cares about her people,
- 21:16Speaker 6: her culture, and goes above and beyond to make sure
- 21:20Speaker 6: that the people that she's working with gets the full value,
- 21:24Speaker 6: doesn't feel like they get cheated or anything of that nature.
- 21:27Speaker 6: And in this environment where people are trying to do business,
- 21:30Speaker 6: people have less money to spend and are really trying
- 21:33Speaker 6: to find ways to come up in the world. Whatever
- 21:35Speaker 6: the case may be, you can get sidetracked, you can
- 21:39Speaker 6: get scammed quite a bit. And she is definitely somebody
- 21:43Speaker 6: that is all about making sure that you get the
- 21:46Speaker 6: value out of working with her, to the point she
- 21:48Speaker 6: will not hang up that phone until she sure that
- 21:52Speaker 6: you got what you needed from her. So I just
- 21:54Speaker 6: wanted to give her her flowers on the radio, and
- 21:57Speaker 6: I wanted to ask a quick question, coach Aka for
- 21:59Speaker 6: the entrepreneurs out here, how can they thrive in this
- 22:02Speaker 6: type of environment where money is less than when the
- 22:06Speaker 6: you know, money was floating around during the pandemic. So
- 22:10Speaker 6: people have less discretionary dollars to spend, but entrepreneurs are
- 22:14Speaker 6: still starting businesses and looking to serve people. So how
- 22:17Speaker 6: can entrepreneurs make sure that they're thriving in a tough
- 22:19Speaker 6: economy like this?
- 22:22Speaker 4: That's a great question. There's a few different tips, few
- 22:27Speaker 4: different strategies. One I would suggest that you focus in
- 22:31Speaker 4: on what need based services and products you have and
- 22:35Speaker 4: less on the luxury items, focused on what people absolutely need.
- 22:40Speaker 4: Then you also want to re message your products. So
- 22:43Speaker 4: for example, I know a young lady who sells a
- 22:46Speaker 4: luxury bar so or she did in twenty twenty one,
- 22:48Speaker 4: but her soap also has six different uses. It can
- 22:52Speaker 4: be a shampoo bar, washing powder for surfaces, it's good
- 22:55Speaker 4: on babies. So I told her to re message instead
- 22:58Speaker 4: of just pitching it as a look street bar. Let
- 23:00Speaker 4: people know, hey, it's six dollars, but there are six items,
- 23:03Speaker 4: six uses in this salt. So now they don't have
- 23:07Speaker 4: they don't have to negotiate between that and five other products.
- 23:10Speaker 4: And I would also say start to make sure that
- 23:12Speaker 4: you have a B to B product B two C
- 23:15Speaker 4: is you know, it's great, of course, but the consumers,
- 23:17Speaker 4: what times you're tough, they're going to pull back on money.
- 23:20Speaker 4: Where it's businesses, they're typically looking for a way to
- 23:22Speaker 4: make more money. So if you can also incorporate a
- 23:25Speaker 4: B to B service or products that will help you
- 23:28Speaker 4: as well. And definitely partnering with other people so that
- 23:32Speaker 4: you can leverage their audiences and then expand your product
- 23:36Speaker 4: life without having to do the R and D and investment.
- 23:39Speaker 1: Wow, you know when you look at what you're trying
- 23:42Speaker 1: to do, are there certain because I mentioned, you know, uh,
- 23:45Speaker 1: Cyber Monday, I mentioned, you know, Black Friday, I mentioned
- 23:49Speaker 1: Small Business Saturday. Are those the three most important dates
- 23:53Speaker 1: for online shopping or there are some other dates out
- 23:55Speaker 1: there that you would like to discuss in ways that
- 23:58Speaker 1: you market your your black virtual them all to the
- 24:01Speaker 1: general mobile public and also on social media.
- 24:04Speaker 4: Tell us Yeah, so no, Black Friday and Cyber Monday
- 24:08Speaker 4: are the key premier sales day. Last year generated a
- 24:12Speaker 4: record breaking two hundred and eleven billion dollars and this
- 24:16Speaker 4: year is on track to be much more than that.
- 24:19Speaker 4: They're thinking even a four point three increase. And although
- 24:22Speaker 4: it sounds counterintuitive to inflation, actually goes right hand in
- 24:27Speaker 4: hand with inflation because people are now scaling backs and
- 24:31Speaker 4: they need to save, and that need to save is
- 24:34Speaker 4: what's going to drive sales traffic on the highest discounted days,
- 24:38Speaker 4: which is Black Friday and Cyber Monday. But it's very
- 24:41Speaker 4: important to understand the shopping behavior. Black Friday are days
- 24:44Speaker 4: that people typically are with their family from the holidays,
- 24:47Speaker 4: so that's when they used to go in store, which
- 24:49Speaker 4: means those are the days that they typically buy things
- 24:52Speaker 4: like clothing that they have to try on Cyber Monday
- 24:55Speaker 4: are where they'll buy things that they usually will reserve
- 24:57Speaker 4: for online purchases. So also on nderstanding that behavior. But yes,
- 25:01Speaker 4: those are the two key holidays for the year.
- 25:04Speaker 8: You do.
- 25:05Speaker 1: But I know we have a few minutes left in
- 25:06Speaker 1: this interview. What type of when you go to the
- 25:08Speaker 1: food court, what type of food can one expect to
- 25:11Speaker 1: see or buy in your food court? And what type
- 25:15Speaker 1: of shops which one expect to see on your black
- 25:19Speaker 1: virtual mall.
- 25:21Speaker 4: Okay, so now it's virtual, but the food is real.
- 25:24Speaker 4: So when you go to the court, click on everyone
- 25:28Speaker 4: asks that it's a food virtual, it's real. You will
- 25:31Speaker 4: click on it, it'll activate the DoorDash or Uber Eats
- 25:34Speaker 4: or whatever app that you already have in you and
- 25:36Speaker 4: it'll you'll just order it as you normally would. We're
- 25:40Speaker 4: just the interface for it. Now I would have to
- 25:42Speaker 4: give you I cannot leave it when I give you
- 25:44Speaker 4: your flowers you got. Miss McDonald called me at five
- 25:47Speaker 4: in the morning when I submitted my application, and he
- 25:50Speaker 4: lightly towed me out about two things. And I made
- 25:53Speaker 4: those changes immediately. And so one was the movie theater,
- 25:58Speaker 4: which it would link you to the content. Well, we've
- 26:00Speaker 4: changed that completely, refacing mister Donald and the links the
- 26:04Speaker 4: videos top up right there in thank you, And we
- 26:06Speaker 4: also added the bookstore. And if you will give me
- 26:09Speaker 4: the honor, I would like to name it after you.
- 26:12Speaker 4: And this will be the first segment on the Black
- 26:14Speaker 4: Virtual Maw that has someone's name i'd like to name
- 26:17Speaker 4: with the Rashade McDonald bookstore.
- 26:19Speaker 1: I have no problem with that. Please make sure one
- 26:23Speaker 1: of my clients, Steven A. Smith's book is in that bookstore.
- 26:25Speaker 1: It's a book called Straight Shoot, the New York Times bestseller.
- 26:30Speaker 4: In any other book you have, absolutely And one of
- 26:33Speaker 4: the things I'm also very proud of is that we
- 26:35Speaker 4: have a kid's Preneur floor. So if there's anyone who's
- 26:37Speaker 4: eighteen and under with a business, you can get on
- 26:40Speaker 4: the Kids Preneur floor for free. Your rent is free
- 26:44Speaker 4: to highlight our kids.
- 26:47Speaker 1: As time inspire. Please give me your website address and
- 26:49Speaker 1: I definitely want to bring you back and let's discuss
- 26:52Speaker 1: how everything happened on you know, Cyber Monday, Black Friday
- 26:55Speaker 1: and Small Business Saturday. But more important, congratulations and keep winning.
- 27:00Speaker 1: Tell everybody how to reach out.
- 27:01Speaker 3: To your mom.
- 27:03Speaker 4: And that's go to join the Black Virtual Maall dot com.
- 27:07Speaker 4: Especially now the rental delinquencies are up two months in
- 27:11Speaker 4: a row. Forty percent small businesses are not able to
- 27:14Speaker 4: pay their rent So you need another platform, So you
- 27:17Speaker 4: go to join the Black Virtualmall dot com and we're
- 27:20Speaker 4: here to help.
