- 0:03Hello. And welcome to two girls in the
- 0:04pod. I'm Sharon.
- 0:05I'm Christy. Hope all of you are doing well.
- 0:08You know it's interesting because sometimes I'll talk with
- 0:10different people about our podcast, people who listen.
- 0:13What would you like to hear and go this.
- 0:15Last week I was talking to somebody and they said, you
- 0:18know, I really enjoyed hearing stuff about like the paranormal,
- 0:23the. The things like that and set
- 0:26about doing another episode, those ones are kind of fun and
- 0:29we have like three of them. I think now this will be the
- 0:324th. Well, and I think it's really
- 0:34interesting because I think people are just drawn once again
- 0:37to that unknown and that that idea of trying to figure it out.
- 0:40It's like this puzzle, you know, trying to put all these pieces
- 0:42together, don't you think? I mean, I I don't know well how
- 0:45exciting too because one aspect of those like we're talking
- 0:48about is Ufo's or Uap's and that has been a huge thing even in
- 0:54media lately. Government coming at forth and
- 0:57saying, yeah, we don't know everything that's in our sky and
- 1:00I think it's it really sparked more interest for people.
- 1:03Well, I think there's that and I think there's more, you know, I
- 1:07mean, go to Discovery Plus or whatever, and history, whatever
- 1:10they are. And you know, there's more on
- 1:12Bigfoots, there's more on these unknown things that.
- 1:15People are just fascinated with like we do.
- 1:18We love Discovery Plus. Yes, we do.
- 1:22And I think the reason why is once again cuz what I love is
- 1:25when we we watch these programs and then we have these
- 1:28conversations. That's one of the things I love
- 1:30the most because I feel like that those kind of programs at
- 1:34least for us really spark great conversation.
- 1:37And I think that it's really cool cuz it just gets you
- 1:40thinking, you know what of all the possibilities and what ifs.
- 1:44And I think that's what it is too.
- 1:46And I think when maybe when I was talking to the person,
- 1:49that's it, You know, it's just it's that fascination with that
- 1:53unknown. Yeah.
- 1:55And there's some people that are just completely afraid of it and
- 1:57do not want to have anything to do with that, I mean.
- 2:00Like we've mentioned our friend June.
- 2:03Then there's Kathy Weber Friend Kathy Weber.
- 2:05That's what I was gonna say is remember in one of the previous
- 2:08episodes, I think that you mentioned about we maybe we can
- 2:11get her to go down there some with us sometime.
- 2:13And you know, we've still not got her to go back there.
- 2:15She's done with that place. She's been there once and, you
- 2:20know, made the whole judgment about it.
- 2:23The thing that is, I think, important is because the Valley
- 2:28has such a rich history. It is an old history, yeah.
- 2:33And it it's a fascinating place. I mean, you can look up the San
- 2:37Luis Valley and even just some of its geological features and
- 2:42that it's the highest Alpine valley in the world at 7500 feet
- 2:49and it's 122 miles long by like 78 miles.
- 2:54It is huge and it has such an interesting feel.
- 2:58Well, it's geologically. Different too, you know?
- 3:01Yeah. And it's got these mountain
- 3:03ranges all the way around it. So it's like you could close it
- 3:07off. I mean it's just it has such an
- 3:09interesting feel when you go there.
- 3:11And different people have mentioned that and I know a lot
- 3:15of people have been there because of the sand dunes which
- 3:18are in Alamosa or close to Alamosa, those sand dunes within
- 3:23themselves this, it's sort of anomalous.
- 3:25It's right at the foot of the Sangree, the Crystal Mountains,
- 3:28but some of those sand dunes are 750 feet tall.
- 3:32And trust me, you'll feel that if you're ever walking them,
- 3:35yeah. But there's so many fascinating
- 3:39things about it in that way alone, and so many stories that
- 3:44have been born out of that location from different cultures
- 3:49and just people that have visited there.
- 3:52I had never heard of the San Luis Valley before and my
- 3:56parents and I came to Colorado. They moved to the Western Slope
- 4:01Palisade and I had never been there.
- 4:04But for whatever reason, I mean, I started going to Mesa State
- 4:08College in Grand Junction and one of the sister colleges was
- 4:11Adam State. And for whatever reason, I just
- 4:14wanted to. I wanted to look into it.
- 4:15So I did and ended up making a trip to the valley prior to even
- 4:20meeting you and that being your birthplace.
- 4:23And for some reason when I went there, I just knew that I was
- 4:28going to be there at some point. And it's interesting because you
- 4:31know I'm from city, it's not a big city area.
- 4:34It has all these little towns. There are six counties that the
- 4:38valley encompasses and partials of three others.
- 4:42So it's a huge valley, but there's not a lot of business
- 4:44there, not a lot of industry. It's very small town feel, but
- 4:48for whatever. Lot of farmland and a lot of
- 4:50cattle and stuff like that. Absolutely, yes.
- 4:53I don't know. I was so drawn to go to Adam
- 4:56State and ended up going there. That's where I got my undergrad.
- 5:00Even when you said that, I remember my friend Jake.
- 5:02I can't remember where he was from, but they happen to be
- 5:05driving through the valley and he tells his wife, we're going
- 5:08to live here. And she goes, what?
- 5:09So they moved to Cresto. That's the exact same thing.
- 5:12That's simplistic. It was like it dropped in my
- 5:15head. It was like you're going to live
- 5:16here at some point. Well, and that was him they were
- 5:18driving through and then it was like, no, we're going to live
- 5:20here. And they moved to Cresto and
- 5:23that's How I Met him. We work together at mental
- 5:25Health and. We were talking about that when
- 5:27he goes, it was just there. It was just like, I knew it.
- 5:29It wasn't like they were planning to move.
- 5:32It was like, Oh yeah, this is what we're going to do.
- 5:34And I think there's a feel. And I know for me, as soon as if
- 5:37we're going in for 160, as soon as you get the top of La Vida
- 5:40Pass, right. As soon as you get that, you
- 5:42start entering the valley. For me, there is a feel.
- 5:46The valley has a feel. It's almost a life of its own.
- 5:49I don't know how to explain it. It almost feels very mystical.
- 5:53Yeah. OK.
- 5:54That's a good word for it. You know, I never thought of it
- 5:56that way, but yeah. Oh yeah, I know that.
- 5:58I've heard other people from the San Luis Valley describe it in
- 6:02that way. When they get there, it does.
- 6:05It has this mystical feel to it. There's a mystery surrounding
- 6:09it. Well, and I think the other
- 6:10thing is, is, you know, like I said, it has such a rich
- 6:13history, rich culture. Yet I know there were several
- 6:17Native American tribes in that area back of the day.
- 6:21I know that one of the primary groups was the Ute Indians.
- 6:25And they said that they were pretty much driven out by like
- 6:28the 19 or sorry 1850s. And apparently there were some
- 6:34hostile encounters after that time with the Native Americans
- 6:38in that area. That makes me think of, you
- 6:41know, because we watched Skinwalker Ranch and that talks
- 6:45about the history of the Ute in the Navajo.
- 6:47Yeah, And what the Navajo did to the Ute.
- 6:51And that and so which Apparently it sounds like they kind of
- 6:55enslave them in a way. And and.
- 6:57Well, yeah, it was not a good. It was in a good history, right?
- 7:00And about putting a curse on them.
- 7:02Yes. So that's where Skinwalker comes
- 7:05from. It's it's the curse, but isn't
- 7:08interesting. We have the you in the valley,
- 7:11in the San Luis Valley, and another atrocity happens to
- 7:14them. They lose their home, they lose
- 7:16their lands, all of that kind of stuff.
- 7:18We have a lot of weirdness there.
- 7:20You know, we watched Kimaka Ranch and then they have all
- 7:22this weirdness there. Is there some connection?
- 7:25I don't know. I just think it's a fascinating
- 7:27correlation, you know, which is kind of interesting and I know
- 7:31that there are many, many stories of strange and unusual
- 7:35even from the Native Americans. I mean we've gone and visited
- 7:40the museum down there and they have found some depictions on
- 7:44some of the stones that it, I think they call them the Ant
- 7:48people and interesting images. Grew up with knowing the story
- 7:54of the Ant people and the Native Americans who would they had the
- 7:57sacred place and they would go and they would go to see the Ant
- 8:00people and and it was every so many years it wasn't a
- 8:05continuous thing it was just it was like a cleansing of the
- 8:08earth or whatever they called it and but the only thing is is
- 8:11nobody else could know where they went and people respected
- 8:13that Of course then they got followed by could have been
- 8:17government agencies we don't know.
- 8:19But after that they never came back, yeah, because they were
- 8:23followed to the location, correct?
- 8:24And it's that, it seems like from what I've heard was that
- 8:28they went to an area that's like in the mountain, like Mirror
- 8:32Lake or somewhere something like that.
- 8:35The location was always kept secret, you know, and people
- 8:39respected that because that was their a piece of their heritage,
- 8:44their culture, you know. And I think when you look back
- 8:47in the Santos Valley, people were very respectful of those
- 8:51things, of whatever that belief system was or whatever that was.
- 8:57So to understand in the Santos Valley it was Native Americans
- 9:02who and then the Spaniards came and the Spaniards settled.
- 9:06So that's where you get the mysticio.
- 9:08So we got the Native American and then the, then the span your
- 9:11blood together and so that became.
- 9:15That culture of the San Luis Valley.
- 9:17So it blended those two cultures together.
- 9:20And then and we've talked about this, you know, in the valley
- 9:24people are very their belief system is very important to
- 9:27them. So we have what are called the
- 9:30Brujas, which is the witches and then the good and data which is
- 9:34like a healer kind of thing in the valley.
- 9:37People very much believed you could be in Buha.
- 9:39That mean a curse could be put upon you and it was very real.
- 9:44So you have something similar in Louisiana where they do the
- 9:47voodoo. Ours is just in the valley.
- 9:50It was just called something very different.
- 9:52It was once again to being blue Ha, that amount that you had a
- 9:55curse put upon you, and to remove that curse you needed a
- 9:58Coudan beta. And this is very still very
- 10:01prevalent even today, because I know that you have talked about
- 10:04being a therapist down there, that you had people that
- 10:06approached you. Because of those very things,
- 10:09yeah. If they really felt they were in
- 10:10blue, ha, that or. Then you know you and in fact it
- 10:13was so funny because I went, I was working in the West on the
- 10:16Western Slope, but there was a guy from the San Luis Valley and
- 10:20part of his thing was is he really felt he was in Bruhala,
- 10:24that his ex had basically put a curse on him and got a Bruha to
- 10:28put the curse on him. And it was very real to him.
- 10:32He would talk to other people about that and they they did not
- 10:34understand what he was saying. So when he as soon as he said, I
- 10:37said we were in the group and he said about me, I said whoa.
- 10:41I said, are you from the San Luis Valley?
- 10:43He goes, yes, he goes, how did you know?
- 10:45I said you never got a cut on Beta.
- 10:47And just the feel of he goes, nobody's ever understood me.
- 10:53It was so powerful. It was so powerful because those
- 10:57things are rich within a person. And when we look at that, we
- 11:02look at the geography of the Valley, it's different.
- 11:06Does that have something to do with it?
- 11:08I don't know. But.
- 11:10You know, if you haven't been to the Salmons Valley, Oh my gosh,
- 11:13you got to go. Yes, you got to experience it
- 11:17with an open mind. Yes, talk to the people.
- 11:20The locals have got plenty of stories.
- 11:22There are so many strange and unusual things there.
- 11:26I know one of the places that we've heard a lot about and have
- 11:29not been to really want to, as called Gravity Hills.
- 11:33And apparently it's like the rules of gravity do not apply.
- 11:37You can see videos and stuff like that, but we actually have
- 11:40gravity hill also in the valley. So if you park your vehicle at
- 11:44an angle, if it's going downhill, you know gravity takes
- 11:47you downhill. And in this case, it'll move
- 11:50your vehicle uphill, yeah. So our magnetic, the magnetic
- 11:55field, there's a little bit different, yes.
- 11:57Apparently, from what I have read and seen, the
- 12:01electromagnetic field of the San Luis Valley reaches higher into
- 12:05space than any other place in the world.
- 12:07And the only other place that comes close is Denver, Co, which
- 12:11is really interesting to me. I don't know if any of that
- 12:14plays anything into any of this, but I thought that that was so
- 12:18strange. Well, you know we even talked
- 12:20about you know when we talked about the valley and you know
- 12:22the cattle mutilations and of course you know it all start
- 12:25down there started with snippy the horse and just and I don't
- 12:30think people understand what that meant.
- 12:32So if your cattle die in, they're out in the field.
- 12:35It takes a long time for the sun to remove the flesh and all of
- 12:39that, and for the bones to bleach white.
- 12:42These were things that were happening within a short period
- 12:46of time. Very anomalous.
- 12:47Yeah, the farmer come out there and see the animal, fine,
- 12:52upright, moving around, whatever, and maybe an hour to
- 12:55however many hours later. Just a small amount of time to
- 12:59come back and find their cattle, or in this case with Snippy, the
- 13:03horse completely mutilated and the bone bleached white in that
- 13:08amount of time. Yeah, the fluids taken out and
- 13:11stuff like that. And there's nothing around that
- 13:13to show that, Yeah. And nothing showing that there
- 13:16were any kind of predators to attack.
- 13:18And it didn't even make any sense because of how it was
- 13:20done. And I think that's what is such
- 13:23a strange thing there is that things happen, you know?
- 13:28I know. Even at the where we live the
- 13:31day going out to the corral and the our stallion is acting weird
- 13:36and they're like, whoa, what is wrong with you?
- 13:39And he kept circling the mayor, one of our mayors and just
- 13:42circling circling. But he was so agitated and so
- 13:47finally went and looked and the mayor, that the side of the
- 13:50mayor was like cut and I could see, you could see the internal
- 13:55organs. It was there they were partly
- 13:58hanging out. It was so bizarre.
- 14:01But she wasn't in distress, which was very strange.
- 14:05Yeah, she. Did.
- 14:06She was not in distress. And the bizarre thing is it just
- 14:09healed. No vet.
- 14:11No, she just healed. You couldn't see it.
- 14:14It was it was so bizarre. And then you Fast forward and we
- 14:17had my parents raised pigs and we had one that would we you
- 14:22kind had to keep. The pig separate because was
- 14:25really mean, aggressive big one, big, big, big, big pig.
- 14:30None of us wanted to go feed that pig.
- 14:32Even she was just mean and Moody.
- 14:34Mean, Moody and just freaking Oh my God, you couldn't get by her.
- 14:39She was just horrible. I don't even know why we kept
- 14:41that stupid thing other than the fact that it was very big.
- 14:43I think we eventually sold it. I don't know.
- 14:45But anyway, this is long after I had graduated and stuff and
- 14:48where I was out watering and stuff and.
- 14:50The other thing that was really weird about the horse thing is
- 14:52there was no blood because it snowed.
- 14:55So I'm trying to find the trace of the blood, you know,
- 14:57wherever, find out, you know, what is this?
- 15:00But it didn't look like if an animal attacked it because it
- 15:02didn't have like teeth marks or stuff like that.
- 15:05It wasn't like that was very strange.
- 15:07Anyway, this pig go out there and the pig is docile.
- 15:12And I am totally confused by this because you got that it's
- 15:17Nordic, It was just me. You know, they're like, what the
- 15:20heck is going on here? So I get up and climb the fence
- 15:24and go to the other side of the corral so I can see at a
- 15:27different angle into the pan. And on her side is this perfect
- 15:33cut out with like if you were going to skin something, two
- 15:39different angles, yes. So it looked like a flap of skin
- 15:42had been cut at a corner angle like and peeled back.
- 15:46Yes. And how you did that with that.
- 15:50When I say she was mean, I am not kidding.
- 15:54Once again, that just healed. And believe it or not, after
- 15:57that she was not aggressive, which was very strange.
- 16:02But I remember seeing these things thinking what on earth
- 16:04you have to understand when I say she was so mean.
- 16:08That's why we had to keep her. That why my dad kept her in just
- 16:12her own pen. So many anomalous things there,
- 16:16and whether it be around UFO's, paranormal we've talked many of
- 16:21the houses that we rented throughout the valley while we
- 16:25were there attending college, and just different different
- 16:29strangeness that happened. I think there is such a
- 16:33curiosity. I guess I don't know what it is.
- 16:35I think there is, you know, we talked about the unknown and and
- 16:39just all the possibilities. I think that that's what it is
- 16:41for people. And sometimes people go down and
- 16:43say, hey, will you go, let's go, drive around, look for UFO's.
- 16:46But I will do that we have. And we did that with my niece,
- 16:51with my sisters, to her nephews. So we got it's night when we
- 16:57went up. We're UFO.
- 16:58Watching Oh yeah, because you have to understand.
- 17:01To the sky there is so dark. It's one of the dark skies.
- 17:04So Oh my gosh. To see, yeah, the National Sand
- 17:08Dunes Park has been declared one of the dark park areas and but
- 17:12the whole San Luis Valley because there's not a lot like I
- 17:15said there it's a lot of farmers a lot of fields.
- 17:18It is very dark throughout the valley and the amazing skies.
- 17:23Oh my God, the stars are you can see millions.
- 17:28Yes. So we go out, we're looking
- 17:30around and we started by going east of town first.
- 17:35So we're driving up east. And why did we even slow down?
- 17:39We slowed down because we kept seeing a little red light in one
- 17:41of the fields. Tiny.
- 17:44When we're going east, though, but you're talking about the D
- 17:47Mountain, yeah. Yes.
- 17:49There was a little tiny red light that kept showing up in
- 17:52the grass not far even from the car.
- 17:55And so that's what made us stop. And then as we stopped and we're
- 17:59trying to figure out what this was, it sounded like something
- 18:01came up and tapped on the trunk of the car.
- 18:04And we all turn around. Look, there is nothing back
- 18:06there. Y'all.
- 18:08And of course I'm driving which. I we already know.
- 18:11She freezes and we're there. Go, go, go and she slams on the
- 18:15brakes. Well, I was already pretty much
- 18:17stopped, but. But it's holding the brake that
- 18:20would be like, Oh my gosh, go, yeah, but you know what year
- 18:25then? But you know, that did not
- 18:26detour us. Yeah.
- 18:28So we went to the other side. So then we went east and we're
- 18:33driving east and we're driving east.
- 18:37And we get to this one road. And I said, well, let's go on
- 18:40ahead and turn N on it. And there's a big street light,
- 18:46Big street light. OK.
- 18:48So we have our windows down because, you know, we want to be
- 18:50able to hear, you know, and all that.
- 18:52I don't know. They say you don't hear UF O's.
- 18:53I don't know what we're trying to hear.
- 18:54But anyway, so we make the turn and we're we haven't gone very
- 18:58far and all of a sudden we smell the most God awful.
- 19:07Smell like rotting flesh. It was like something was dead.
- 19:11Even beyond that, it was like that.
- 19:13But it wasn't. It was not bad and that present
- 19:16and but it and you didn't smell it right away.
- 19:22Yeah, I mean it was that fast. No, it just started while we
- 19:21were sitting. It just came because we were
- 19:24sitting there and so it wasn't there.
- 19:26And then all of a sudden it was just there.
- 19:28And it was so funny, cuz the little boy in the back, that
- 19:32wasn't me, OK? Everybody smelled it, but he's
- 19:38the one who said it first. That wasn't me and the world.
- 19:40They're like, what is that smell?
- 19:44But then the other odd thing was it became pitch black.
- 19:47Yeah, even the light from the street light was not casting
- 19:51over there. It was really bizarre.
- 19:51It was so. It was like it enveloped us.
- 19:56It was. Yeah, it was so insane.
- 20:00And it was one of those things once again, roll up the windows.
- 20:05And let's go. Let's get out.
- 20:06So that was the end of our UFO hunting that night with them.
- 20:10I was there like, oh, we did take him to the Atencio house
- 20:13though, too. Yeah, the Atencio House, we've
- 20:15mentioned that and we've had Charlene on and.
- 20:19Yeah, that's the house she grew up in.
- 20:20And she did an interview with us, and we, and if you haven't
- 20:23listened to that one, you really should.
- 20:25That's our Unexplained Part 2. But you know, yeah, she talked
- 20:31about that and even the Atencio house, you know, one night your
- 20:34mom and your brother were so fascinating with that house.
- 20:37And we had taken them a couple of times and then this other
- 20:39time we took them, they them, their pictures.
- 20:43So once again, you know I'll take picture, but I won't look.
- 20:47Well, and that's a kind of a the intensive house kind of iconic
- 20:51in the in the Del or area especially.
- 20:54So many people have heard the stories about it and so a lot of
- 20:57times we will. Whenever we've gone back there,
- 20:59we've driven around it. Snap some pictures of that
- 21:02because you will see unusable things in it quite often.
- 21:06That one particular time we took our pictures and then we went
- 21:10back home. We didn't look at them there.
- 21:11We just kind of went back home and we were looking through the
- 21:14pictures and there were orbs, yeah, But when you looked at the
- 21:19orb, there were actually faces in the orbs.
- 21:23Yeah, that's what it looked like.
- 21:25And I know we had that footage somewhat.
- 21:27I just don't go from computer to computer and stuff like that
- 21:30and. I think I actually have a couple
- 21:32of those and I'm, I really would like to post some of them
- 21:35because I I think that people would get to find them very
- 21:38interesting. But even that, why there are so
- 21:41many orbs and you know, you talked about that life that we
- 21:44would see and you know, which is another weird thing with that
- 21:48Skin Walker Ranch thing because they talk a lot about these
- 21:51orange orbs. And even when you see if you
- 21:55follow the Bigfoot things, you know, we watch all of those just
- 21:57because we find it quite fascinating.
- 21:58We like a lot of the people on them too, but they talk about
- 22:02those orange orbs or red or maybe different colors.
- 22:06A lot of times like an amber color, yes.
- 22:09And even that night we were driving when we were driving
- 22:13east in the field, we saw that orb just kind of moving with us
- 22:20and. Look like it was floating over
- 22:22the field? Yeah yeah and and it's weird it
- 22:25cuz it follows you. It's not like it just sits.
- 22:29It has like movement with you. Yeah, and there's multiple
- 22:33stories of that. If you talk to different people
- 22:35throughout the valley, many people have experienced that
- 22:37there. I know a common place for it is
- 22:407 N in the Valley. I mean, we've seen some strange
- 22:44things on that road too, in 7 N runs.
- 22:47And so my family home is on 8 N so it was the road right over.
- 22:52So you had to drive 7 N to get to our house.
- 22:56And yeah, just so many bizarre, strange things, you know, on
- 23:02that road. And my brother Ben talking about
- 23:04that orb and how it scared him and he, you know, he felt like
- 23:07it was keeping pace with him when he was driving at night.
- 23:11My uncle talked about that too. And, you know, my uncle didn't
- 23:15get scared of a lot of things, but that kind of rattled him a
- 23:18little bit. My sister, Alice, she's going
- 23:22and it's following right behind her.
- 23:23And different people have talked to me about those that those
- 23:27orbs on that road and how it's not like it just sits there.
- 23:31It follows them and people have had their cars stopped there.
- 23:35And it's just a lot of it's fascinating.
- 23:39But when it's happening to you, there is a level of fear, and
- 23:46it's irrational fear, I want you to know.
- 23:49Well, it seems like it, you know because.
- 23:51But when you don't know exactly what you're dealing with and you
- 23:54can't explain it, yeah, you definitely have that fur factor
- 23:59in place. My mom used to get up in the
- 24:02middle of the night when she would have to go to the bathroom
- 24:04and stuff, and she had a ritual which I thought was interesting.
- 24:08She would always look out the window, and when she looks out
- 24:12the window, the window, she would look out.
- 24:14It faces to the West. And one day we're talking and I
- 24:17was telling her about, I said I was telling her that you know
- 24:20Christine and I, you know we would go sit outside and I
- 24:23remember telling her, yeah, it's so weird mom.
- 24:25I said we'll be out there And I said, well watch and we'll see
- 24:27the star and you think it's a star.
- 24:30Then it moves and then you'll see it just move and it's a
- 24:33quick movement. And then it's like, it goes from
- 24:35one spot and it will just park in another spot and you're
- 24:38they're like, well, wait a minute, what the heck just
- 24:40happened here? And when that happens, when it
- 24:43parks there, it just then it just looks like a star.
- 24:46But you just thought new, clear across the sky and you're.
- 24:49It is such a strange experience and I know there have been other
- 24:53people that have mentioned that too.
- 24:55There are several books about the valley and just strange and
- 24:59anomalous things there. One of them is The Mysterious
- 25:03Valley by Christopher O'Brien. Christopher O'Brien, yeah.
- 25:06And he went and and talked to many of the people in the valley
- 25:09and got a collection of stories put together in that book.
- 25:12And there were a couple of people that mentioned over by
- 25:15the sand dunes having that same experience with something moving
- 25:19across the sky like that and even coming close to their
- 25:21vehicle, being just however many feet, 3040 feet above their
- 25:25vehicle and then moving up into the sky and appearing like,
- 25:30yeah, so I was talking to my mom about that.
- 25:33And then she goes, you know, he she says I'll look out at night
- 25:37and she says I'll see like this star.
- 25:39But then it like gets long and she says and I'll see another
- 25:44star like fly into it and then it like gets short again.
- 25:48And I said mom, does that happen every night?
- 25:49She says no. She says it will just be random
- 25:52night. It was never the same.
- 25:54It's like she got up at 2:00 every night.
- 25:57It would be random times, random nights, and it was always to the
- 26:02West and she would say it's always in that same spot.
- 26:06She says it looks like a star, but she said it's not a star.
- 26:09I don't know what that is. When you see something elongate
- 26:12and something else fly into it, I don't think that's a star, but
- 26:16it wasn't like she was afraid or anything.
- 26:18She just found it fascinating. And so I think what happened is
- 26:22she would get up and look to see if she could experience that
- 26:25again. And she would periodically, she
- 26:27would see that, right? And it was just one of those
- 26:32really interesting things. And I would go out sometimes,
- 26:37though sometimes at night, my family home, even outside, would
- 26:41cause me anxiety. It would cause me unrest.
- 26:45You'd feel a little unsettled. There was something just.
- 26:48I don't know what it was. Even though we had wonderful fun
- 26:51times, there was still this something else.
- 26:55Like I said, I don't even know what how to describe it.
- 26:58Well, there was a presence, or whatever it was and.
- 27:01There's some kind of presence, I think in the Saint Louis Valley
- 27:05there we can't see, but you can definitely feel.
- 27:08And it's different at different locations.
- 27:11Yeah, you know. Going back to the Atencio house,
- 27:14you were saying about that like you take the pictures around
- 27:17there, seeing these orbs and just unusual things you were
- 27:21mentioning about my mom and my brother.
- 27:24Wanting to go over there and take pictures and stuff,
- 27:26sometimes we went, my brother and I decided to go for a walk
- 27:30and he wanted to walk past the Intensio house and I was like,
- 27:35this is daytime. Yeah, I was in the middle of the
- 27:37day. You're braver.
- 27:39I'm walking the dog and he decides to go over on that side
- 27:43of the street. I told him Nope, I'm staying
- 27:45over here and you know, I'll just wait for you if you wanna.
- 27:49Check things out. So he goes across the street
- 27:51over there and he's kind of looking, Doesn't go on the
- 27:54property or anything, but he's pretty close.
- 27:56He's pretty close, yes. And I'm walking, not looking at
- 28:00him. I'm looking at the dog and all
- 28:03the sudden I I see out the corner of my eye big movement,
- 28:08like it was him going forward. And I I hear this crash and it's
- 28:12him skidding in the rocks and his eyes are huge and he's
- 28:17laying on his stomach. And he said something pushed me,
- 28:22Well the IT scared me so bad. And the dog, she heard the leash
- 28:26slipped out of my hand. She started running down the
- 28:28road and I'm like come back. Thankfully she stopped and I'm
- 28:35like trying to get the dog and I'm, I'm trying to find out what
- 28:37happened with him and he's like, I don't know, something just
- 28:41forcefully pushed me for sound, like he was airborne too.
- 28:44Yeah, I mean, he went with force.
- 28:48And I could see he was stunned and just freaked out.
- 28:51So that was the end of our exploration there.
- 28:55And you don't always tell people have a healthy respect for
- 28:58things because, you know, people get into this idea of, oh, this
- 29:01is fun, this is that ended his time of going to the Atencio
- 29:04house because it really did scare him.
- 29:08But you imagine if you're just walking along and all of a
- 29:11sudden you feel something push you with so much force that
- 29:13you're airborne and he landed. You set arms out, skidding.
- 29:17Yes, yeah, I saw right when he hit the ground and the gravel
- 29:22just, you know, it was crazy. I I couldn't believe that it had
- 29:27happened. But he was totally freaked out.
- 29:30And that's the thing once again, to have that healthy respect for
- 29:34things you do not understand. If you go to the Valley and like
- 29:39you said, you talk to the locals, who will talk with you
- 29:42about it. There are so many stories
- 29:46different. But my sister was going to rent
- 29:47a house and she says, why didn't you tell me that that house was
- 29:50haunted? I said, I don't know, you know,
- 29:53didn't think about it because we have, there's so many weird
- 29:58anomalies when we're talking about that.
- 30:01We're not just talking about that kind of stuff.
- 30:04People reported seeing things that they fill our Bigfoot, you
- 30:08know, and these are elderly people who they have no reason
- 30:11to lie. They'll say, you know, I looked
- 30:14out the window and I saw this and they'll describe it and
- 30:17then, you know, say, oh Bigfoot, there will be people who will
- 30:21say they see entities that are not human, some that fly, they
- 30:27talk about, the lizard people they talk about.
- 30:30Talk about shapeshifters there. Yes, a lot of shapeshifters and
- 30:34things like that. Which, if you think about Native
- 30:37American culture, Native American culture, talks about
- 30:40shapeshifters, you know, Is that part of that culture?
- 30:44I don't know. But it's interesting because
- 30:46there are some things to back that up even like with the
- 30:51Atencio House, they've had people come in and investigate
- 30:53there. And there is a YouTube video
- 30:57that you can refer to to see an example of a shadow person.
- 31:01So if you go to Shadow people of the San Luis Valley or you can
- 31:07put it in San Luis Valley Shadow People, it's going to come up
- 31:11and the guy is standing there and he videos from a little bit
- 31:16of a distance from the house and he captures a wonderful,
- 31:21wonderful footage on that. Yeah and yes.
- 31:26And it's great too, because you can see it and then he slows it
- 31:29down frame by frame by frame for you to see.
- 31:33That to me is one of the best shadow figure videos.
- 31:38It's amazing. And that house is boarded up.
- 31:42Nobody lives there and but there are those things, people at our
- 31:47cemetery. Things happen at our cemetery
- 31:50that scares people. And then there's the cemetery
- 31:54that doesn't exist. So I mean we lived in the in
- 31:58Delmore for like 10 years and for all that time going out of
- 32:03town with traveling W like if you were going to South Fork.
- 32:07I would always see a cemetery on the right hand side over there
- 32:10and didn't think anything about it.
- 32:12Why would I talk about it? I just assumed, you know,
- 32:15everybody saw the cemetery there.
- 32:17So one day we're talking, and I know that you mentioned
- 32:19something about, I can't remember why we were talking
- 32:21about the cemetery. And I asked you, well, which one
- 32:23are you talking about? Well, I said something about
- 32:25going to the cemetery. Yeah, and I said, well, which
- 32:28one are you talking about? And you go, you're looking at me
- 32:30like I had another head, and you go.
- 32:32There's only one cemetery in Del Norte.
- 32:34And I was like, no, what about the one going out of town?
- 32:37Like if you're going to South Fork on the right hand side and
- 32:40she's like there's no cemetery there.
- 32:43And I'm like, what do you mean? I we've like walked down there.
- 32:46I've seen it. It's not like I just thought it
- 32:49was over flying by in the car or something.
- 32:51I have seen it over there. No, there's no cemetery there.
- 32:55So Fast forward later and you're talking with your friend
- 32:57Heather. She said the same thing to me.
- 32:59I don't know why we're talking about the cemetery.
- 33:02And she goes, which one? And they're like, what is this,
- 33:04like the twilight zone? I said, Heather, we have one
- 33:07cemetery. She goes, no, the one I pass
- 33:10every day because she lived in South Fork and would drive in to
- 33:13work. She goes, no, the one I pass
- 33:15every day. And I'm there like you go to
- 33:17South Fork, there's no cemetery. She goes, Oh my God.
- 33:20So she starts describing this cemetery in detail.
- 33:23And it's the same way that Christie is under like, what the
- 33:26heck is going on here? It makes no sense to me.
- 33:32Then Fast forward even further. Kathy Gee, We finally take her
- 33:35to the valley and we're driving by and she sees the same
- 33:37cemetery and she describes it. She's describing and I'm there
- 33:42like there's something wrong with y'all.
- 33:43And not in the moment, because when we were passing by there
- 33:46and you know, nothing thought about that.
- 33:47You know, we didn't talk about that, didn't talk about it at
- 33:49all. And then I said about the
- 33:51cemetery, she goes and she's talking about when we passed, we
- 33:55didn't pass a cemetery. There is no cemetery there.
- 34:00But it was like once that was brought into my awareness and
- 34:03you told me that I have never seen that cemetery and that's
- 34:06what Heather said, she said. After you said that, she says
- 34:10that cemetery no longer exist. Now what is the likelihood 3
- 34:15different people? It's weird.
- 34:16Three people I know too. Whoa.
- 34:21I just thought about that now. No, but three people I know
- 34:24would see a cemetery that doesn't exist.
- 34:27And all three of them, when they describe it, describe the same
- 34:31cemetery. And we're they're describing it
- 34:33and we're not together except when Kathy described it.
- 34:38You were with us and you're. But Christy hasn't said anything
- 34:42and she's describing this cemetery.
- 34:45So that's what I mean. There are so many strange
- 34:50anomalies there. People see things I'm not going
- 34:53to say that don't exist, because even when we talked with
- 34:57Charlene, you know when she said that when her husband asked, is
- 35:01that real or not? It is in that moment, but it's
- 35:05really strange, bizarre stuff that happens there.
- 35:09Which makes me wonder if we're not just.
- 35:11I don't know if we're just seeing through.
- 35:15A veil like to a a different plane of existence at some point
- 35:20some parallel universe. Yeah, it's so strange.
- 35:23And we talked about that so much when we're doing this, you know,
- 35:26what are we really experiencing? And I think when people get
- 35:30really afraid of something, I think if they go to that place
- 35:33of what am I really experiencing?
- 35:35But oftentimes, you know, people say, oh, this is demonic or this
- 35:38is that. And sometimes if we step away
- 35:41from that, because that's going to take your level of fear of 15
- 35:44notches, you know what I mean? Whereas if you sit there and say
- 35:47wait a minute, is what I'm experiencing is that even of
- 35:51this realm or whatever you want to call it, you know?
- 35:56And I think that we get into these things where people we
- 36:00want to know when we want to explain that maybe there's some
- 36:02stuff we're just never going to explain, right.
- 36:05We have seen some very strange things in the Valley.
- 36:08And you kind of sit there and say, but it's interesting
- 36:11because if you go talk to somebody else in the valley,
- 36:12they'll be there like, Oh yeah, you know, or go to this place or
- 36:16whatever. You talk to people outside the
- 36:19Valley or don't have that. They kind of look at you as a
- 36:21like, okay, What drug are you on or what mental illness do you
- 36:25have? Not understanding once again
- 36:28that rich culture and the value of that culture too, you know
- 36:34what I mean? And often times, you know, even
- 36:36in the Valley, you know, more people move in, the older
- 36:39generations are are, you know, dying out and stuff like that.
- 36:42So does that change it if people don't experience it?
- 36:45But then you say that, and then we'll go down there or, you
- 36:48know, I'll be talking to somebody from the Valley and
- 36:50they'll say, Oh yeah, you know, that house or this house, you
- 36:53know, there's some weird stuff or.
- 36:55Well, those those stories are, you know, so frequently shared.
- 37:00Throughout the valley. You know, the other thing I was
- 37:02going to say is, you know, we met up with some people a few
- 37:04times ago that we went there and one of them ex police officer,
- 37:07and we were talking to him and we were telling him that story
- 37:10about that giant dog. And as we told him, his eyes got
- 37:13big. Where they're like, what?
- 37:15So the right you reference, you're talking about the episode
- 37:18that we did on Unexplained where they showed one.
- 37:22Yeah, where that we had an experience to experience at the
- 37:26Atencio House and there was a. Really huge black look like a
- 37:31Shepherd Jet Black, but completely black.
- 37:34And we thought it was a statue. And then the eyes and that moved
- 37:38and we knew it wasn't a statue. Yeah.
- 37:40So we're telling him about this and his eyes get big and where
- 37:44they're like, what? He goes, I saw that dog in town.
- 37:47Yeah. And where they're like, what?
- 37:49And you mentioned he's a police officer.
- 37:50So he was just checking, you know, get around checking the
- 37:53town. And he said he thought he, I
- 37:55thought it, you know, oh, come on, yeah, come on.
- 37:58And he goes, it just didn't move.
- 38:00He goes, it was the weirdest thing.
- 38:01He goes. So then he started walking
- 38:02across it. When he turned out it was gone,
- 38:04I mean like instantly. And it's like because we had
- 38:09never heard anybody else have having that experience with
- 38:12that. And then as you start talking to
- 38:14people, they start talking about these things that they see and
- 38:18they experience. I remember when I was young, my
- 38:22brother Ben, he was brave and a chicken at the same time, he
- 38:28really was. But my parents were not there.
- 38:31It was not. And he wanted to go to town, I
- 38:32think for popcorn if I remember correctly.
- 38:34But I was little. So he's going to town while he
- 38:37gets back off the fast and with no popcorn.
- 38:39So imagine our disappointment, but he's a little afraid and
- 38:44whether like what's the matter? He goes, I'm driving down the
- 38:46dirt Rd. He goes, and there's these
- 38:48people walking and he goes, for lack of a better thing, he goes
- 38:52he they look like monks. You know how the monks wear the
- 38:54robes and the and they'll have the hood on, but it's freaking
- 38:59dark. It's a dark night.
- 39:02He goes and they're walking. He goes and it kind of freaks
- 39:04it. Something freaks him out about
- 39:06it. So he flips a Huey to come back
- 39:08home. And when he comes back home he
- 39:11says he looks but he can't see any face.
- 39:14He goes and then all sudden they're just gone.
- 39:17Freaked him out, Scared the crap out of him.
- 39:21That was the end of popcorn for us.
- 39:23Just so y'all know, just so you know.
- 39:25You didn't get your popcorn. Did not get our damn popcorn
- 39:28that night, but then it kind of freaked us out.
- 39:31So other things happen, and I'm not going to go into that, but
- 39:35it was just some really weird, scary stuff that happened after
- 39:37that. And, you know, so, and that's
- 39:40what I mean, it's all fun and games until it's happening to
- 39:43you. And then it feels a little bit
- 39:45different, yeah. And even if you're not open to
- 39:50having your own experience like that, the San Luis Valley is
- 39:54It's a it's a strange and quirky kind of place, but a lot of fun
- 39:58too. And it is absolutely beautiful.
- 40:00Beautiful. Absolutely.
- 40:02Some of the most beautiful sunsets I've ever seen there for
- 40:04sure, which I think Colorado skies are amazing anyway.
- 40:07But the San Luis Valley does have some spectacular sunsets
- 40:12and as we mentioned about the stars and one of the most
- 40:16amazing places to view that from is the UFO Watchtower that is on
- 40:21Hwy. 17 in the Valley. It's.
- 40:24By between, it's by Hooper. That area down in there, which I
- 40:28don't know how many people are aware, there's a Hot Springs in
- 40:30Hooper. Amazing place to go.
- 40:32Yes, but the UFO Watchtower is. It's just out here in the middle
- 40:37of nowhere, this Dome shaped building.
- 40:40There's a whole little gardening thing created out in the front.
- 40:43Got some little UFO people out there and.
- 40:47Aliens we call, Yeah, aliens. Yeah, UFO people got some aliens
- 40:56out there and it's just a neat place to go.
- 40:59But the cool thing is, inside there are many, many stories and
- 41:04pictures and things like that that people have shared with the
- 41:07owner, Judy. Which is Oh my goodness.
- 41:10And we were. We got a chance to stand and
- 41:13talk with her, and we recorded. She asked if we record our story
- 41:17of the one we saw at the house that we often talk about you
- 41:20wish you could just go back and almost have that same experience
- 41:24again and have the sense to have a camera do something or to take
- 41:27an even more detail. Well, something like that one.
- 41:30Something like that happens. I feel like it's almost life
- 41:33changing because you just, you almost want to recreate it but
- 41:37you can't. And we have gone back to that
- 41:40moment, back to that area where that we had that experience
- 41:43many, many times in the experience I'm talking about
- 41:46with in our UFO episode. It was such a strange and
- 41:50unusual thing and please go back and listen to it.
- 41:53It was just something that you feel like you have to go back to
- 41:56that moment and try to recreate. You know what I really
- 41:58appreciated is that we experienced that together.
- 42:01So it's not like one of us telling the story and the other
- 42:03one saying, Oh yeah, we were able to see it and.
- 42:07Finish each other's senses as we were just doing this whole
- 42:10description of things. But there is such an odd feeling
- 42:13you get at that moment. It is fear.
- 42:16It is fascination. There's so many feelings you
- 42:18can't even describe it. It's the reason you can't get
- 42:20your camera because your brain is trying to process what you're
- 42:23looking at and. And not, but when we went to the
- 42:26UFO Watchtower there she has a book filled with pictures of
- 42:31things that people have caught. And there was a picture in there
- 42:34that it was just like what we saw in the sky.
- 42:38Just this football shaped thing, complete surface of it lit up
- 42:42this bright blue, white light. It was amazing.
- 42:45That blue was just so fascinating.
- 42:48Yeah. And it was so big.
- 42:51Yeah, it. Was so, so big.
- 42:55Why do some people see stuff and some people don't?
- 42:58I don't know. I don't know if some people are
- 43:01just more receptive to things and more accepting that there
- 43:04are things that are out there that we can explain.
- 43:06And I don't know if not one is better than the other.
- 43:10Any. There is no comparison, there's
- 43:11no nothing. If you experience it, you
- 43:15experience it. You know what I mean.
- 43:17If you don't, you don't. But if you do, go there, like I
- 43:21said, you will experience amazing views anyway.
- 43:24Those stars. Just yes, It's amazing.
- 43:28If you can't tell, we love the valley.
- 43:30The beauty of it, the feel of it, the mystery surrounding.
- 43:34But yes, exactly. In that rich history, it has
- 43:37such a rich history. And if you go to Del Norte,
- 43:40where I'm from, there is a museum there.
- 43:43There is Marie Museum. Go there.
- 43:46Look at some of the artifacts, look at some of the history.
- 43:50It's amazing. It really just touches you in a
- 43:55different way, and it's my understanding that at the UFO
- 43:59Watchtower they have the skeleton now of.
- 44:02I think so. I I read an article, I don't
- 44:04know. We have not been there.
- 44:07I know we've been back to the Valley two times in a row and we
- 44:09never, we were so busy doing other stuff we didn't get a
- 44:12chance to do that. But it's something that I think
- 44:14would be fascinating to go see and hopefully we will get a
- 44:18chance to go see that and you know, maybe just make a trip to
- 44:21do that because it it's very fascinating, you know.
- 44:24The sand dunes, they have a rich history too, and some very
- 44:27mystical stuff too. They talked historically about
- 44:31cannibalism there. They talked about horses with
- 44:33webbed feet. There there is a huge history.
- 44:37Crestone within itself has a lot of weird anomalies.
- 44:41They have a lot of UFO stuff. They have a lot of sound noises,
- 44:45things like that. From one end of the valley to
- 44:48the other. It doesn't matter where you're
- 44:50at, there is something. If you go there and you don't
- 44:53experience that paranormal or Ufo's, that's OK cuz you're
- 44:57going to really love the beauty of it.
- 44:59I think anyway, and I might be a little biased, it's true, it is.
- 45:05Beautiful. Yes.
- 45:07So you know, I mean, we enjoy it.
- 45:09We hope you enjoy this episode. And if we find the pics of some
- 45:13of the stuff we took down there, we will go on ahead and post
- 45:16them to our 2 Girls in a Pod Facebook page.

- 45:22You can check out the shadow people on YouTube.

- 45:32one because he'll say something like people have been reporting
- 45:36shadow people at this location. And then he goes on to finally
