- 0:04Speaker 1: Come on.
- 0:10Speaker 2: Ah huh, I sure will. Good morning everybody. You're listening
- 0:14Speaker 2: to the voice, Come on, dig me now, on and
- 0:18Speaker 2: only Steve Harvey got a radio show. Okay, I want
- 0:26Speaker 2: to talk to you today about success. But I want
- 0:32Speaker 2: to talk to you about it like I usually do
- 0:35Speaker 2: in terms of a principle of it, but I want
- 0:38Speaker 2: to share something with you about it.
- 0:42Speaker 3: And I was talking to my daughter about it.
- 0:45Speaker 2: I've talked about my son in law about it, talked
- 0:48Speaker 2: about it with all my children, and I'm really starting
- 0:50Speaker 2: to express it to them now because I'm talking to
- 0:53Speaker 2: a wide range of people constantly. But I want to
- 0:57Speaker 2: share something with you. If you have any aspiration of
- 1:01Speaker 2: being successful, I want you to realize, starting right now,
- 1:07Speaker 2: the effort that is going to require. And that's why
- 1:10Speaker 2: I think it stops a lot of people. I think
- 1:12Speaker 2: a lot of people are never told or don't understand
- 1:17Speaker 2: the sheer effort that it takes to become successful at
- 1:21Speaker 2: anything in any area of your life.
- 1:24Speaker 4: If you think that doing your.
- 1:26Speaker 3: Best is enough, that I got news for you. It's not.
- 1:31Speaker 4: Well, Steve.
- 1:33Speaker 2: What if you've done your best, though, and your best
- 1:37Speaker 2: ain't good enough? Well, let me ask you that same question.
- 1:40Speaker 2: Hold on, if you want to be successful and you've
- 1:43Speaker 2: done your best, and best isn't good enough. What you
- 1:46Speaker 2: threw that's it. But Steve, it was my best. No no, no,
- 1:51Speaker 2: no no. It was the best you had at that time,
- 1:54Speaker 2: in that particular day. But tomorrow add something to it.
- 2:01Speaker 2: You've never done everything. There is no you can't go
- 2:05Speaker 2: no more, you can't add no more. I've seen marathon
- 2:09Speaker 2: runners end up crawling across the line. I've seen triathlon
- 2:13Speaker 2: people man just staggering in the street and didn't want
- 2:16Speaker 2: nobody to help them because they knew that would disqualify
- 2:20Speaker 2: them from the race. You got more? Have you ever
- 2:25Speaker 2: dipped into your reserve tank? That's what we're talking about now. See,
- 2:31Speaker 2: all of us have a reserve tank, you know.
- 2:34Speaker 5: You know.
- 2:34Speaker 3: On my ranch, I like to ride four wheelers.
- 2:36Speaker 2: I have all terrain vehicles and all of them have
- 2:40Speaker 2: a gas tank on it and a gas tank and
- 2:43Speaker 2: most of mine, let me see all of them. Yeah,
- 2:44Speaker 2: all of them have gas tank needles on them, and
- 2:47Speaker 2: it lets me know when I get down towards eight.
- 2:51Speaker 3: There's a little lane that's red that lets me know.
- 2:54Speaker 2: Okay, Steve, you're in a danger zone now, you're riding
- 2:57Speaker 2: into the lowest part of your tank. But if I
- 3:00Speaker 2: keep riding and I forget to get some gas in there,
- 3:04Speaker 2: guess what when it runs out of gas.
- 3:07Speaker 1: All of my.
- 3:08Speaker 2: All terrain vehicles, all of them, Honda Polaris, all of them.
- 3:13Speaker 2: Those are the makers. There's a button on the gas
- 3:17Speaker 2: tank itself that I can click and it says reserve.
- 3:22Speaker 3: That means they know that for the hard core riders.
- 3:27Speaker 2: They're gonna ride somewhere, they're gonna get themselves in a
- 3:30Speaker 2: situation and they're gonna run out of everything, They're gonna
- 3:34Speaker 2: run out of road, they're gonna run.
- 3:35Speaker 3: Out of gas.
- 3:36Speaker 2: They've prepared because they know for the hard core rider,
- 3:40Speaker 2: every hard core rider needs a reserve tank. And so
- 3:44Speaker 2: there's a button that you can click on the gas
- 3:46Speaker 2: tank that clicks it into a reserve and it'll give
- 3:50Speaker 2: you about fifty miles or twenty miles worth of gas
- 3:54Speaker 2: in that. Now, guess what in that reserve that may
- 3:58Speaker 2: be all you need to get you the where you're going,
- 4:02Speaker 2: or get you back to safety so you can refuel.
- 4:05Speaker 2: Don't tell me you've done your best. When your best,
- 4:08Speaker 2: don't cut it. What you're gonna do See, when best
- 4:13Speaker 2: is possible, then good enough ain't enough. See that's good enough,
- 4:19Speaker 2: But if the best is possible, why would you not
- 4:21Speaker 2: shoot for that?
- 4:22Speaker 3: And you you are all capable of making it.
- 4:25Speaker 2: But you've got to change your mindset and realize the
- 4:28Speaker 2: effort that has to be put forth in becoming successful.
- 4:33Speaker 2: You've got to do it relentlessly, over and over and
- 4:36Speaker 2: over and over.
- 4:37Speaker 3: And every day.
- 4:39Speaker 2: I try to do something to progress my life for
- 4:42Speaker 2: the better. I try to do something every day. I
- 4:45Speaker 2: wake up every day with the plan. Some phone calls,
- 4:48Speaker 2: some meetings, some some some some interviews.
- 4:52Speaker 4: Something.
- 4:52Speaker 2: Man, that's going to advance and move the brand forward.
- 4:56Speaker 2: Because here's what's gonna happen. You are Let's say you
- 4:59Speaker 2: reach your goal. Let's say your goal is to make
- 5:02Speaker 2: now one hundred thousand dollars.
- 5:05Speaker 4: Well, I got news for you. Listen to this.
- 5:07Speaker 2: When you make the one hundred thousand dollars, you can't
- 5:11Speaker 2: go nowhere and go on vacation and put your hand
- 5:13Speaker 2: behind your head and say I made one hundred thousand dollars.
- 5:16Speaker 3: Guess what you got to do.
- 5:18Speaker 2: You got to find a way now to maintain that
- 5:21Speaker 2: one hundred thousand, to keep it coming in. See, you
- 5:25Speaker 2: can't just get there and stop and rest and whoa,
- 5:28Speaker 2: it is harder to maintain your success than it is
- 5:32Speaker 2: to get successful. See let's say, let me show you this.
- 5:36Speaker 2: Suppose it takes you five to eight years to find
- 5:42Speaker 2: a way to make fifty thousand dollars. Let's say it
- 5:46Speaker 2: takes you five to eight years to find a way
- 5:49Speaker 2: to make an extra fifty thousand dollars, and you finally,
- 5:52Speaker 2: through work and effort, you get to the fifty thousand
- 5:55Speaker 2: dollars math. It's only just begun now because guess what.
- 6:01Speaker 2: In order to keep the fifty coming in, you gotta
- 6:06Speaker 2: duplicate what you did to get there. And then, oh,
- 6:10Speaker 2: here's what you're going to have the audacity.
- 6:13Speaker 4: Being a human being.
- 6:14Speaker 2: You're gonna want another fifty because you're a human being,
- 6:19Speaker 2: because you gotta have something else to shoot for now
- 6:21Speaker 2: you're gonna want another fifty. Well, now that guess what
- 6:24Speaker 2: you gotta do. Now, Now you gotta do what you
- 6:25Speaker 2: did before for plus you gotta come up with something else.
- 6:30Speaker 2: Then after that, you're gonna have the audacity. Because you're human,
- 6:33Speaker 2: You're gonna want another fifty. Says how this works? And
- 6:39Speaker 2: see that that's that, that's the importance of your relationship
- 6:43Speaker 2: with God, because you're gonna constantly need it. It ain't
- 6:46Speaker 2: havever a point where you're gonna be through needing you.
- 6:48Speaker 2: But that ain't gonna become a point in your life
- 6:50Speaker 2: where you're going through, won't be through, won't.
- 6:52Speaker 3: Nothing unless you then just gave up. And if you
- 6:54Speaker 3: done gave up, who wants that?
- 6:57Speaker 2: Come on, y'all, this is going to take quite a
- 7:00Speaker 2: bit of effort, And if you think it'll come.
- 7:03Speaker 3: To you any other way, you're sadly mistaken.
- 7:06Speaker 2: Because of all the successful people I know, I know
- 7:10Speaker 2: that the effort they put out on a daily basis
- 7:12Speaker 2: is daunting, and I think that the average person just
- 7:14Speaker 2: doesn't understand the requirement of time and effort that it
- 7:18Speaker 2: takes to get that and willingness to put it out.
- 7:22Speaker 2: You got to cut a lot of monkey business out
- 7:24Speaker 2: your life, all that hanging out, all that late and
- 7:28Speaker 2: all that club and all that drinking, all that. You
- 7:31Speaker 2: got to cut a whole lot of monkey business out
- 7:33Speaker 2: to be successful. Man, if you're planning on being successful,
- 7:39Speaker 2: get up early, stay up late, work, try, think, meet, greet, smile, attract.
- 7:47Speaker 3: It takes a lot let's go, but you can do it.
- 7:49Speaker 2: God is pressed to passing out blessings all day long.
- 7:53Speaker 3: Why are you not in line for yours?
- 7:55Speaker 2: I'm telling you right now, I want everything God got
- 7:57Speaker 2: for me, because what he's.
- 7:59Speaker 4: Shown me so far. Cool.
- 8:01Speaker 3: If he got some mo man or man, how good
- 8:04Speaker 3: is God?
- 8:05Speaker 1: Huh?
- 8:05Speaker 6: You're listening to the Steve Harvey Morning Show.
- 8:12Speaker 2: Ladies and gentlemen, boys and girls. This is the Steve
- 8:17Speaker 2: Harvey Morning Show. Well, welcoming all of you to say,
- 8:21Speaker 2: have a great day to day, reminding you that God
- 8:25Speaker 2: is in the blessing business. Remember everyone that God loves you.
- 8:31Speaker 2: It will never change and there's absolutely nothing that you
- 8:35Speaker 2: can do about it. So understand that, accept it and
- 8:39Speaker 2: appreciate it. That's grace. And He's in the forgiving business too,
- 8:43Speaker 2: So no matter what you've done, he's in the forgiving business.
- 8:46Speaker 2: Don't wallow any get up, keep walking. Steve Harvey Morning Show.
- 8:50Speaker 2: Shirley Strawberry calling for real Mississippi Monica Jr. In the
- 8:53Speaker 2: legend that he is nephew Tommy Jr. What's going on today, buddy?
- 8:57Speaker 4: Well, huh, you know.
- 8:58Speaker 7: It's a it's Christmas time.
- 9:00Speaker 8: Time for Christmas plays have you been to a Christmas play,
- 9:04Speaker 8: you know you had no business at.
- 9:06Speaker 2: The last time. I shouldn't have been at a Christmas play.
- 9:08Speaker 2: I was actually in it. Oh lord, what we said
- 9:14Speaker 2: a Christmas play. It was about a family that had
- 9:16Speaker 2: had a Christmas in I don't really remember what it
- 9:20Speaker 2: was about it. I didn't read the whole script. You
- 9:23Speaker 2: know that, Chris sounds like a problem.
- 9:26Speaker 6: What what you do?
- 9:28Speaker 3: I just read my line.
- 9:31Speaker 2: I didn't read the whole script, so I don't really
- 9:33Speaker 2: I was in the family as a I was one
- 9:38Speaker 2: of the just a boy in the family, and I
- 9:41Speaker 2: had lines.
- 9:42Speaker 3: Yeah, I just got to my part.
- 9:44Speaker 2: I was playing Earnest in the play that so all
- 9:48Speaker 2: I read was the lines that Ernest.
- 9:50Speaker 6: Said relate to the other characters.
- 9:54Speaker 2: Well, to show you how I shouldn't have been in
- 9:55Speaker 2: the play, I didn't read nothing but Ernest line, So
- 10:01Speaker 2: I didn't know when I was supposed to say nothing.
- 10:06Speaker 2: But I had my lines memorized though. And the way
- 10:10Speaker 2: I did the play was when they put me in
- 10:11Speaker 2: the scene. It wasn't nobody talking, I figured that was me,
- 10:17Speaker 2: and then I blurt out my line. No actor at all.
- 10:22Speaker 9: The same thing on your own show, The Steve Harvey show.
- 10:26Speaker 2: I did that too. That's how I got started. That's
- 10:28Speaker 2: why that was the last play I was in. I
- 10:30Speaker 2: didn't I didn't think I should have been there.
- 10:34Speaker 8: Now, Now, have you been to some plays? Use have
- 10:37Speaker 8: you been to any christ before?
- 10:39Speaker 2: You know, we grew up in the church and we
- 10:40Speaker 2: had some bad moments at our church. We had sister
- 10:44Speaker 2: Abigail played Mother Mary. She was way too old for
- 10:49Speaker 2: that's no way she could have had the baby.
- 10:53Speaker 3: Jesus, It's no way. It's just no way.
- 10:58Speaker 2: And she wasn't attractive either, So pretty pretty pretty show.
- 11:03Speaker 2: God wouldn't have picked and.
- 11:07Speaker 3: To have his son. I wouldn't have I was the Lord,
- 11:11Speaker 3: I wouldn't.
- 11:14Speaker 2: I don't really haven't seen any pictures of Mary, but
- 11:18Speaker 2: I'm pretty sure she was attractive.
- 11:19Speaker 3: Because if I'm God, I can get.
- 11:22Speaker 2: Anybody to have my child, She's gonna be attractive. I
- 11:30Speaker 2: can assure you that my mother Mary was very attractive,
- 11:34Speaker 2: especially if I'm the Lord, because I'm just not that
- 11:37Speaker 2: loving of a god.
- 11:38Speaker 3: Well, I'm just anybody.
- 11:40Speaker 9: I'm just going all right, going up in thirty two
- 11:45Speaker 9: minutes after the hour, yeah, with the word if we
- 11:49Speaker 9: still have a show, when we come back right after this.

- 14:25Speaker 2: on with the trimmer?
- 14:26Speaker 4: Read?
- 14:27Speaker 10: The fireside is blazing, Bryan, whoa we're caroling.
- 14:34Speaker 4: Through the night.
- 14:35Speaker 2: Start right there, got a fire inside. It's a white
- 14:38Speaker 2: folks outside saying re.
- 14:42Speaker 10: Amen, This Christmas will be a very special Christmas for me.
- 14:51Speaker 3: Stop right there. I'm proposing.
- 14:56Speaker 2: That this Christmas, yeah, will be a very special Christmas

- 15:47Speaker 10: just for a moment in the sun.
- 15:52Speaker 3: From the Book of Christmas.
- 15:54Speaker 2: He decided after three paragraphs to finally compliment met somebody
- 16:01Speaker 2: else your eyes outshine the town.
- 16:05Speaker 10: Read Ah, Now we back to where we was outside
- 16:09Speaker 10: of town. This Christmas, the fireside is blazing bright, and
- 16:13Speaker 10: we're carrying through the night, and this Christmas will be
- 16:17Speaker 10: a very special Christmas or stuff.
- 16:20Speaker 2: Right there, there was a need to repeat, Yes, the
- 16:26Speaker 2: fireside is a blazing bright.
- 16:30Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 16:31Speaker 2: A lot of people got chimneys in their house. Some
- 16:36Speaker 2: people got out the fisher logs. Some people God would
- 16:41Speaker 2: burn in fireplace. Yes, But when you say caroling all
- 16:46Speaker 2: through the night, ain't none the white folks going door
- 16:50Speaker 2: to door singing at night. You ain't gotta worry about
- 16:53Speaker 2: looking out there. We already know not to take our
- 16:56Speaker 2: black behind in your neighborhood singing.
- 16:59Speaker 4: Lady night.
- 17:00Speaker 2: While you're out there singing, you're gonna millround, get shot.
- 17:04Speaker 2: You're supposed to be in front of my dough trying
- 17:06Speaker 2: to sing.
- 17:07Speaker 4: Nothing. That's white folks business, out there.
- 17:09Speaker 2: Singing holding them books in their hands. White folks don't
- 17:13Speaker 2: know no songs by heart always gotta have a book
- 17:17Speaker 2: in they head. Black folks ain't never needed no book
- 17:21Speaker 2: to sing no song. Turn the page, two o eight,
- 17:24Speaker 2: two o nine. We're reading them from one StepN mate,
- 17:28Speaker 2: and that white folk read.
- 17:33Speaker 10: All right passing. Now, what we're doing right now is
- 17:35Speaker 10: this one's for the children. We're gonna change though, because
- 17:38Speaker 10: Captain nine and we're gonna start off right here. Rootolph
- 17:43Speaker 10: of the red no rain there.
- 17:45Speaker 3: Start right there. We off in the fantasy now.
- 17:50Speaker 2: Yeah, because I've gone deal hunting many times in my life. Yeah,
- 17:57Speaker 2: ain't no rain deer, got no red No, No, I
- 18:01Speaker 2: know we in fantasy now.
- 18:03Speaker 10: Read had a very shiny nose, start right there, had mean.
- 18:09Speaker 4: Somebody saw him and shot him.
- 18:11Speaker 10: Read And if you ever saw it, you would even
- 18:16Speaker 10: say it glowed, it glow.
- 18:18Speaker 2: As long as he alive. But once you shoot him,
- 18:21Speaker 2: the glow go down. It's just a black nose like
- 18:23Speaker 2: everybody else.
- 18:24Speaker 3: Read and all the.
- 18:26Speaker 10: Other raindeer I used to laugh and call him names.
- 18:32Speaker 3: Stop right there.
- 18:33Speaker 2: All the Reindeers used to laugh at him and call
- 18:36Speaker 2: him names, and read.
- 18:42Speaker 10: They never let Paul Rudolph join in any raindeer game.
- 18:47Speaker 3: Start right there.
- 18:48Speaker 2: Literally, they know that one day Rudolph was gonna be
- 18:51Speaker 2: the sled leader, was gonna be out front of the pack.
- 18:54Speaker 2: You can start at the back, but you never know
- 18:57Speaker 2: when God gonna move you to the front.
- 19:00Speaker 4: I don't care what the story it is.
- 19:02Speaker 3: Oh, you got a white.
- 19:03Speaker 4: Man coming in to save the day.
- 19:05Speaker 2: Your should have had Rudolf at the top of the
- 19:07Speaker 2: sleigh in the first place. Now you'd have brought your
- 19:10Speaker 2: fen out here talking about when you got a slate tonight.
- 19:13Speaker 2: You weren't saying that when they was talking about Rudolph
- 19:15Speaker 2: back in the barn, laughing at him and called him name.
- 19:18Speaker 4: Now you can't see your way.
- 19:20Speaker 2: Now here come your fat behind talking about leading the sleigh. Remember,
- 19:25Speaker 2: God will raise you up in front of your enemies
- 19:28Speaker 2: and make your enemy your footsteps.
- 19:31Speaker 3: Those are the churches.
- 19:32Speaker 9: Now leave man all right, Thank you, Reverend Motown and
- 19:35Speaker 9: Deacon def Jam coming up next. It is asked the

- 33:16Speaker 6: Well?
- 33:19Speaker 9: Can I tell you about this? It's going viral on
- 33:21Speaker 9: Reddit right now. Twenty five year old single woman with
- 33:24Speaker 9: no kids. Single woman, no kids, has earned her first
- 33:28Speaker 9: Christmas day off at her job, and she's looking forward
- 33:31Speaker 9: to not having to work. Okay, but now a co
- 33:35Speaker 9: worker with children who is scheduled to work that day
- 33:39Speaker 9: asked if she could switch with her so that she
- 33:42Speaker 9: could be home with her kids for Christmas. The younger
- 33:45Speaker 9: woman said no, because she earned the day off and
- 33:48Speaker 9: she does not want to give it up, even though
- 33:51Speaker 9: she admitted that she doesn't even celebrate Christmas. So the
- 33:54Speaker 9: single woman posted her dilemma on Reddit and received a
- 33:57Speaker 9: bunch of comments that she's being selfish, while others argue
- 34:01Speaker 9: that she earned the day off, so she should take it.
- 34:04Speaker 9: So what do you think should she give her the
- 34:06Speaker 9: day off?
- 34:06Speaker 2: Well, I don't understand why she's mad at the lady
- 34:10Speaker 2: for earning her day off.
- 34:13Speaker 3: How you mad at her?
- 34:15Speaker 6: Well, I mean, why are they open for Christmas?
- 34:20Speaker 4: What kind of job is.
- 34:22Speaker 9: This, she doesn't say one of the jobs that are
- 34:27Speaker 9: open for Christmas.
- 34:28Speaker 2: Because anyway, she asked a young girl could she switched so.
- 34:32Speaker 6: She could spend Christmas Day with her kids?
- 34:34Speaker 3: Yeah? I would have switched with the lady.
- 34:37Speaker 6: Yeah, especially because the lady doesn't celebrate Christmas.
- 34:41Speaker 2: And if she don't celebrate Christmas, what's the big deal
- 34:43Speaker 2: to you? If you have Wednesday off for Thursday off?
- 34:46Speaker 4: What did I make to you?
- 34:47Speaker 3: Right right?
- 34:49Speaker 2: I would have switched. But ain't no need of you
- 34:51Speaker 2: being mad at the young girl. You need to talk
- 34:54Speaker 2: to your boss about that.
- 34:56Speaker 9: Yeah, yeah, yeah, all right, she was necessarily mad.
- 35:01Speaker 6: But yeah, she put it a shoe. She did put
- 35:04Speaker 6: it out there, she posted it.
- 35:05Speaker 3: Yeah, all right, we're over at Walmart.
- 35:08Speaker 4: Walmart be oldmar Crew.
- 35:11Speaker 6: I think, uh, I'm not sure.
- 35:13Speaker 1: I think.
- 35:16Speaker 9: Coming up twelve minutes after is the build up to
- 35:20Speaker 9: Christmas better than Christmas Day? We'll talk about that right
- 35:24Speaker 9: after this. You're listening Harvey Morning Show. Hey is Shirley Strawberry?
- 35:32Speaker 9: You know who taught me my ABC's and what it
- 35:34Speaker 9: means to be kind? Sesame Street Sesame Workshop, the nonprofit
- 35:38Speaker 9: behind Sesame Street. It's still doing that for kids everywhere.
- 35:42Speaker 9: Elmo and Cookie Monster are out there teaching kindness, empathy
- 35:46Speaker 9: and joy, but they need our help to keep it going.
- 35:49Speaker 9: So this holiday season, visit Sesame dot org and donate
- 35:52Speaker 9: what you can. Once again, please visit Sesame dot org
- 35:56Speaker 9: this holiday season because the world needs Sesame and Sesame
- 36:00Speaker 9: need you. According to an unpopular opinions post, for many,
- 36:04Speaker 9: the build up to Christmas is better than Christmas Day. Actually,
- 36:09Speaker 9: most respondents think that listening to Christmas music, putting up
- 36:13Speaker 9: the tree, the decorations, baking desserts, going to Christmas parties,
- 36:17Speaker 9: and shopping, that's all all the fun and exciting events
- 36:20Speaker 9: of the of the season. But then when Christmas Day
- 36:24Speaker 9: arrives and we've opened our presence, we've had dinner, there's
- 36:27Speaker 9: nothing else to be excited for. So the question is
- 36:32Speaker 9: the build up to Christmas?
- 36:33Speaker 2: Uh?
- 36:34Speaker 9: Is that what you enjoy? Or is it Christmas Day
- 36:37Speaker 9: and the time you spend with your family? Is that
- 36:39Speaker 9: more exciting?
- 36:40Speaker 6: Which one?
- 36:41Speaker 13: The build up or actual Christmas? I?
- 36:46Speaker 6: I like I enjoy both both.

- 38:11Speaker 3: Down and disappointed.
- 38:13Speaker 2: Yeah, you know, from the expectations of the day, and

- 44:49Speaker 11: join the white man and join the church.
- 44:51Speaker 3: Yeah, okay, so we can love the Lord.
- 44:55Speaker 11: He can love the Lord, but if he's gonna be
- 44:57Speaker 11: in this church, he's gonna have to know black things about.
- 45:02Speaker 11: He got certain things he got to know. So we

- 45:38Speaker 11: it's just things hes gonna have to know. Right then
- 45:43Speaker 11: when when when you when you get ready to go
- 45:45Speaker 11: to the bathroom, what you're supposed to do? Put that
- 45:47Speaker 11: one finger up, put that thing in that.
- 45:49Speaker 4: It's things you have to know if you're gonna be
- 45:52Speaker 4: around us. Just get up.
- 45:56Speaker 6: Respectful.
- 45:56Speaker 11: That's you, ain't that Joe Olstein you have a different church.
- 46:04Speaker 11: I know he didn't walk out here without his frank up,
- 46:07Speaker 11: he didn't do that.
- 46:09Speaker 4: Black church queens. Let's go cat dog, Let's get it.
- 46:12Speaker 5: This is Grant, our Grant h Grant Stephens, right, yes,
- 46:17Speaker 5: he Hey Greg, this is brother Lewis Finley. I'm calling
- 46:19Speaker 5: from Mount Sinin Missionary Baptist Church. You you and your
- 46:24Speaker 5: wife just joined a couple of weeks ago, Am I right?
- 46:27Speaker 6: Absolutely?
- 46:28Speaker 5: Yes? Okay, So now listen, I wanted to reach out
- 46:33Speaker 5: to you. I know you guys have started the uh
- 46:36Speaker 5: the orientation and from my understanding you you finished one
- 46:40Speaker 5: one class of the orientation. You got three more to go?
- 46:42Speaker 5: Is that right? Yes? All right, all right, all right.
- 46:46Speaker 5: So first of all, I want to say welcome to
- 46:48Speaker 5: Mount Sinai and and I hope you are enjoying yourself.
- 46:52Speaker 5: I know that you and your wife are a mixed couple.
- 46:56Speaker 5: You you're a Caucasian and she's she's black. Are you?
- 47:00Speaker 5: Are you liking the church so far? Grant?
- 47:03Speaker 15: Absolutely, we really are enjoying it. We completed our first
- 47:07Speaker 15: orientation and yeah, so far we're really enjoying it.
- 47:11Speaker 5: Okay, Okay, did I catch at a bad time?
- 47:13Speaker 15: I am a work right now. But it's okay, I've
- 47:15Speaker 15: got a couple, I've got a couple of.
- 47:16Speaker 5: Minutes, Okay, Okay. I just wanted to call you, man.
- 47:20Speaker 5: I was worried I know you because I don't think
- 47:22Speaker 5: you noticed. But you are the first Caucasian to join
- 47:26Speaker 5: our church, and I just want to make sure you
- 47:29Speaker 5: kind of knew the language and just just kind of
- 47:34Speaker 5: knowing what the Black Church is all about. And there's
- 47:36Speaker 5: certain sayings and different things I think you should know
- 47:40Speaker 5: so that you know. I just don't want you to
- 47:42Speaker 5: say that the wrong thing while you at the church,
- 47:45Speaker 5: if that makes sense. Okay, okay, So what I wanted
- 47:49Speaker 5: to do, like I wanted to give you a little
- 47:52Speaker 5: Black Church quiz so you can kind of maybe if
- 47:56Speaker 5: you could there let me know where you are, you know,
- 47:59Speaker 5: if you want a low level or a high level
- 48:01Speaker 5: as far as being knowledgeable about the Black Church, like
- 48:05Speaker 5: feel this blank in for me, grant And if you
- 48:07Speaker 5: don't matter, I just want to take a little bit
- 48:09Speaker 5: of time and I'll let you get back to work.
- 48:10Speaker 5: But first of all, give a blank to God give
- 48:16Speaker 5: where we're going in that blank right there. First of all,
- 48:19Speaker 5: give a blank to God.
- 48:21Speaker 15: Now, all I can think of something has give Give
- 48:24Speaker 15: thanks to God.
- 48:26Speaker 5: No, see that's wrong. See that's wrong. See see what
- 48:29Speaker 5: it is is. First of all, give a honor to God.
- 48:32Speaker 5: All right? Remember that. First of all, give an honor
- 48:35Speaker 5: the God. You got that?
- 48:36Speaker 15: Okay?
- 48:37Speaker 5: Yes, yes, okay. First of all, give an honor to God,
- 48:40Speaker 5: who is the blank of my life? What? What? What?
- 48:45Speaker 5: What goes in the blank? First of all, give an
- 48:47Speaker 5: honor to God, who is the blank of my life,
- 48:51Speaker 5: the love of my life. No, no, see that's that's
- 48:55Speaker 5: that's that's wrong. First of all, give an honor to God,
- 48:58Speaker 5: who is the he for long life? Did you can
- 49:02Speaker 5: you share that? I'm sorry, okay, I was just are
- 49:06Speaker 5: you sure?
- 49:06Speaker 15: Are you sure about that?
- 49:07Speaker 5: Oh? I'm definitely sure about man. No, don't don't. What
- 49:10Speaker 5: I don't want you to do is question what I know.
- 49:13Speaker 5: I'm from the Black Church. I know you.
- 49:15Speaker 15: No, No, I wasn't. I wasn't questioning you, sir, I wasn't.
- 49:17Speaker 5: I'm sorry.
- 49:17Speaker 15: I've just always heard it that way.
- 49:19Speaker 5: But okay, So, so I'm trying to give you the
- 49:23Speaker 5: understanding of knowing what the Black Church is about. You understand,
- 49:26Speaker 5: I understand.
- 49:27Speaker 15: I'm just I appreciate you.
- 49:28Speaker 5: I'm I apologize. Okay.
- 49:30Speaker 15: Now now look I don't know these answers obviously, but
- 49:35Speaker 15: I've got a meeting. I got to get to here
- 49:36Speaker 15: in a minute. Like this, I'm curious if everyone in
- 49:39Speaker 15: the church gets these stone calls.
- 49:40Speaker 5: Well wait a minute, wait a minute, grand I know
- 49:42Speaker 5: what you have a meaning, But what's more important your
- 49:43Speaker 5: meeting or knowing your position at the Black Church? What
- 49:48Speaker 5: what's more important?
- 49:50Speaker 15: I really don't have time for this right now. I
- 49:52Speaker 15: can't believe it's actually happening. Like did you did your
- 49:54Speaker 15: pastor even know that you're calling you right now?
- 49:57Speaker 5: Well? No, I took the liverity of myself. I you
- 50:00Speaker 5: was Caucasian that I would call and try to help
- 50:03Speaker 5: you so you would know what to do when you're
- 50:05Speaker 5: in the Black church where people are saying certain things
- 50:07Speaker 5: you Okay, okay, Grant, if you don't mind, just do
- 50:11Speaker 5: this funny, Grant, like, do you know what hooping is?
- 50:15Speaker 1: Hooping?
- 50:16Speaker 15: Like, who's a hooping?
- 50:18Speaker 5: No, hooping is when the pastor is at the end
- 50:22Speaker 5: of his sermon. So listen to this. Good got him?
- 50:29Speaker 5: Do that funny? If you if you would, Grant, oh,
- 50:36Speaker 5: oh god, oh man, No, no, no one more. Come
- 50:41Speaker 5: on you whit me? Oh good, God got him?
- 50:46Speaker 15: Like I gotta get I can't believe I'm doing that.
- 50:51Speaker 15: Oh lord, oh yeah, oh God, old mighty.
- 50:56Speaker 5: Okay, Greg, do you think maybe as possible as dick
- 51:03Speaker 5: me and you could have some sessions before you come
- 51:06Speaker 5: back to the church and I can prepare you more.
- 51:09Speaker 15: Hey man, listen, you have caught me at a really
- 51:12Speaker 15: bad time and I'm quite honestly just so frustrated. Like
- 51:16Speaker 15: I've never heard of a quiz like this. I'm really offended,
- 51:19Speaker 15: to be honest, to be like, do you guys not
- 51:20Speaker 15: want me to go to your church anymore? Like, as
- 51:23Speaker 15: matter of fact, dude, you should be calling my wife
- 51:26Speaker 15: right now.
- 51:26Speaker 5: She's black. Well she should already know. The queen is
- 51:30Speaker 5: questioned you the ones. Don't know who I'm gonna call.
- 51:33Speaker 5: I should call you.
- 51:34Speaker 15: I am at work right now. I have a meeting
- 51:36Speaker 15: to get to in just a minute. I don't know
- 51:39Speaker 15: what you're doing. And I hold on a second, I
- 51:41Speaker 15: have got to close my office door. This is so embarrassing.
- 51:45Speaker 15: I have never ever received a phone call like this
- 51:48Speaker 15: in my life, and you better be lucky. I mean,
- 51:51Speaker 15: I want to talk to your pastor. I am going
- 51:53Speaker 15: to talk to him next Sunday.
- 51:55Speaker 6: No joke.
- 51:56Speaker 5: Well, I didn't mean for you to get hostile like that.
- 51:58Speaker 5: I mean it that you, I mean upset you or
- 52:00Speaker 5: nothing like that. Can I can I say something else

- 54:46Speaker 9: You, not for your subject. She's getting more than money
- 54:48Speaker 9: from him. Dear Stephen Shirley, I'm a fifty one year
- 54:51Speaker 9: old man and I have a wife, but I haven't
- 54:54Speaker 9: lived with her in four years. It's a long story,
- 54:57Speaker 9: but I'll try to make it brief. Four years ago,
- 55:00Speaker 9: my cousin had a bad divorce and he needed somewhere
- 55:02Speaker 9: to stay, so my wife and I let him rent
- 55:05Speaker 9: one of our side of a duplex we own. I
- 55:09Speaker 9: made him promise to be respectful to my older tenant
- 55:12Speaker 9: that shared the duplex with him, because she's a Christian
- 55:14Speaker 9: woman that loves peace and quiet.
- 55:17Speaker 6: He moved in, and in less than two.
- 55:19Speaker 9: Weeks, the old lady called me to complain about sex
- 55:22Speaker 9: noises coming from his side of the duplex.
- 55:25Speaker 6: I talked to my cousin and asked him to knock
- 55:28Speaker 6: it off.
- 55:28Speaker 9: I worked full time, so my wife manages our three
- 55:31Speaker 9: properties and collects the rent.
- 55:33Speaker 6: But I'm the only one the old lady will talk to.
- 55:36Speaker 9: She's never liked my wife, and one evening i'd stopped
- 55:40Speaker 9: by the duplex to put some reflective numbers on the
- 55:43Speaker 9: old lady's side of the duplex because she said her
- 55:45Speaker 9: girlfriends couldn't find her house at night. I pulled up
- 55:50Speaker 9: and my wife's car was parked in the sideyard, out
- 55:54Speaker 9: of plain view. I knocked on my cousin's door several
- 55:57Speaker 9: times and there was no answer. The old lady came
- 55:59Speaker 9: out of her and she told me that they can't
- 56:01Speaker 9: hear me knocking because they're in there having sex and
- 56:06Speaker 9: making a bunch of noise. I told her that I
- 56:09Speaker 9: think it's my wife in there, and she reminded me
- 56:12Speaker 9: that she has never liked my wife, and then said
- 56:14Speaker 9: this must be why. She told me that the car
- 56:18Speaker 9: is always over there, so my wife is coming by
- 56:20Speaker 9: for more than the rent money. I broke the window
- 56:24Speaker 9: and I got in there and tried to body slam
- 56:27Speaker 9: my cousin. My wife moved out of our house and
- 56:31Speaker 9: into the raggedy duplex with my cousin. It's been four
- 56:35Speaker 9: years and they're still together. I still can't get over it.
- 56:40Speaker 9: How could they do this to me? Well, because some
- 56:45Speaker 9: people are just low down and evil. You know, you
- 56:49Speaker 9: may still be married on paper, but you don't have
- 56:51Speaker 9: a wife. You may as well let that go because
- 56:54Speaker 9: she let it go a long time ago. She left
- 56:56Speaker 9: you then way back, and we can't pick our relatives,
- 57:01Speaker 9: so he's gonna be your trifling cousin forever. My advice
- 57:05Speaker 9: to you is to first get a divorce because clearly
- 57:09Speaker 9: this marriage is over. It's been four years. The next
- 57:13Speaker 9: thing I would do is put them out of the duplex.
- 57:15Speaker 9: Put them out. It's been four years. Your cousin should
- 57:18Speaker 9: be able to get his own place by now. He
- 57:21Speaker 9: shouldn't be living off you anyway. I mean, you said
- 57:23Speaker 9: you can't get over it, but you're gonna have to.
- 57:25Speaker 9: You're gonna have to move on with your life. I mean,
- 57:28Speaker 9: life does go on. Try to get back out there.
- 57:33Speaker 9: You know, if you have friends, you can hang out
- 57:34Speaker 9: with them to ease back into the dating scene. I
- 57:37Speaker 9: know you're fifty one, I know that, but that's okay.
- 57:41Speaker 9: You can ask a friend out for lunch, you know,
- 57:44Speaker 9: or for drinks. You gotta start going to like get
- 57:47Speaker 9: togethers and stuff like that, barbecues, church events, comedy shows.
- 57:51Speaker 6: Tommy, aren't you touring now?
- 57:53Speaker 5: Right?
- 57:53Speaker 9: You can go see Tommy he's touring again. Yeah, you know,
- 57:57Speaker 9: you gotta do things to get yourself out there, and
- 58:00Speaker 9: the more you get out there.
- 58:01Speaker 6: The easier it's going to be to get over.
- 58:03Speaker 9: Your faithful, tricky, tricky tricky wife.
- 58:07Speaker 6: Steve a.
- 58:11Speaker 2: Boy, this letter right here is major league disappointing to me.
- 58:19Speaker 2: She's getting more than money from him. Now here's a
- 58:24Speaker 2: fifty year old guy. He says, and I have a wife,
- 58:29Speaker 2: but I ain't live with her in four years. Well
- 58:33Speaker 2: you can quit calling her your wife.
- 58:37Speaker 4: Four years. Preey, pretty, we.
- 58:41Speaker 2: We we passed the point of fix it.
- 58:47Speaker 4: Four years. We're this over dog.
- 58:51Speaker 5: Uh.
- 58:51Speaker 2: Your cousin had a bad divorce and he needed somewhere
- 58:54Speaker 2: to stay, which means she took him to the cleaning
- 59:01Speaker 2: so he ain't got nothing. So your wife let him
- 59:04Speaker 2: rent a duplex in it. You promised to be respectful
- 59:07Speaker 2: of the older tenant that you share a deep duplex
- 59:10Speaker 2: with Christian Moman. She like peace and quiet. After two weeks,
- 59:14Speaker 2: the lady called and complain about sex noises coming from
- 59:18Speaker 2: his side of the deep duplex. So you went in
- 59:20Speaker 2: there and you talk to the dude, told him to
- 59:22Speaker 2: cut it out. You work full time, so your wife
- 59:24Speaker 2: manages the three properties and collects the rent. But I'm
- 59:28Speaker 2: the only person that the old lady would talk to
- 59:31Speaker 2: she's never liked my wife. This is very important information
- 59:35Speaker 2: as we go forward in this letter. The old lady
- 59:40Speaker 2: knew something soon as she met her. All women can
- 59:45Speaker 2: pick up on triflingness in a young woman. See one
- 59:51Speaker 2: thing about women, y'all. Women know each other. Women can
- 59:56Speaker 2: fool us men, but they can't fool each other. Girl, girl, girl,
- 1:00:02Speaker 2: I know that I've seen this movie before. I know
- 1:00:05Speaker 2: this whole scene. What you're doing.
- 1:00:07Speaker 3: Women know.
- 1:00:08Speaker 2: Bargie will spot some stuff that I would never even
- 1:00:11Speaker 2: dream of looking at it.
- 1:00:13Speaker 3: She tripping. So the old lady knew something.
- 1:00:16Speaker 2: One evening, stopped by the deep lex put some reflective
- 1:00:19Speaker 2: numbers on the old lady's house cause they can't find
- 1:00:22Speaker 2: her house at night because they hold you pull up
- 1:00:26Speaker 2: in the wife's car parked on the other side of
- 1:00:28Speaker 2: out of plane youth.
- 1:00:30Speaker 3: So you knocked through your cousin doing and wasn't no answer.
- 1:00:32Speaker 2: The old lady came out her doing, told me they
- 1:00:35Speaker 2: can't hear you knocking because they ain't not having sex
- 1:00:37Speaker 2: and making a bunch of noiss.
- 1:00:40Speaker 4: Well, I told her, I think that's.
- 1:00:41Speaker 3: My wife in there.
- 1:00:44Speaker 2: She reminded me, I have never liked her. Now she
- 1:00:50Speaker 2: and not bringing your cousin. You need to get the
- 1:00:54Speaker 2: bust and windows or.
- 1:00:55Speaker 9: Something, all right, Steve, hold on hold that thought. Okay,
- 1:01:01Speaker 9: we'll have part two of your response at twenty three
- 1:01:04Speaker 9: minutes after the hour. Strawberry letter for today, she's getting
- 1:01:07Speaker 9: more than money from him. We'll get back into it
- 1:01:09Speaker 9: right after this. You're listening Steve Harvey Morning Show. It's

- 1:01:45Speaker 9: giving holiday harmony, all right. Come on, Steve, let's recap
- 1:01:49Speaker 9: today's Strawberry letter. The subject she's getting more than money
- 1:01:53Speaker 9: from him?
- 1:01:55Speaker 2: Well, I'm gonna recap this letter and then we're going
- 1:01:58Speaker 2: to do a live reenactment. Okay, Shirley is gonna be
- 1:02:03Speaker 2: the woman, Tommy gonna be the.
- 1:02:08Speaker 3: Guy, the cousin.
- 1:02:11Speaker 2: Tommy, you know the trifling he got that Tommy gonna
- 1:02:15Speaker 2: be the trifling cousin. Shirley, you're gonna be the woman
- 1:02:20Speaker 2: that's in the house that's been collecting the rent. I'm
- 1:02:24Speaker 2: gonna be the old lady next door since the old day,
- 1:02:26Speaker 2: I'll stay next door.
- 1:02:29Speaker 3: So here we go.
- 1:02:30Speaker 2: A fifty one year old man uh then rented out
- 1:02:35Speaker 2: his place to his cousin. Told him be respectful as
- 1:02:37Speaker 2: an old lady lived next door, but the old lady
- 1:02:41Speaker 2: only talks to him because the old lady don't like
- 1:02:43Speaker 2: his wife, who controls the three properties and collects all
- 1:02:46Speaker 2: the rent. Well, two weeks into the cousin moving in there,
- 1:02:50Speaker 2: the lady call and complained about loud sex noises coming by.
- 1:02:53Speaker 2: The guy goes over there one night to change the
- 1:02:55Speaker 2: reflective lightness on her address so her people can see
- 1:02:59Speaker 2: her address at night. He get over there and the
- 1:03:02Speaker 2: lady come out complaining again, talking about some people in
- 1:03:05Speaker 2: here having loud sex noises. Where he noticed his wife's
- 1:03:09Speaker 2: car was in the driveway out of plane view, so
- 1:03:12Speaker 2: he said, wait a minute, that I think that's my
- 1:03:14Speaker 2: wife in there. The lady said, I told you that
- 1:03:17Speaker 2: I did not like her. Now she in here banging
- 1:03:21Speaker 2: your cousin and you standing out here.
- 1:03:25Speaker 4: So now.
- 1:03:28Speaker 2: She told me that the car was always over there.
- 1:03:32Speaker 2: So now my wife coming over promoting rent money. So
- 1:03:37Speaker 2: I broke the window and got in there and tried
- 1:03:40Speaker 2: to bodyslam my cousin.
- 1:03:42Speaker 3: So I don't understand this.
- 1:03:43Speaker 2: Part of the letter right here. I mean, see, if
- 1:03:46Speaker 2: you broke the window and you tried to body slam
- 1:03:51Speaker 2: your cousin. See, once I break the window, it's unfinished business.
- 1:03:55Speaker 3: That's just the beginning.
- 1:03:59Speaker 2: Breaking the wonder is a prelude me breaking your see
- 1:04:03Speaker 2: have got behind Yeah, we ain't.
- 1:04:05Speaker 3: Got to that yet.
- 1:04:06Speaker 2: But if I broke this one, that stepped in here
- 1:04:08Speaker 2: and cut my back of my thigh on this glass
- 1:04:11Speaker 2: because you got to climb through that winter, you're gonna
- 1:04:13Speaker 2: cut your leg.
- 1:04:15Speaker 5: Yeah?
- 1:04:15Speaker 4: And he how old? Fifty?
- 1:04:16Speaker 15: What?
- 1:04:17Speaker 4: Yeah?
- 1:04:18Speaker 3: Fifty one?
- 1:04:18Speaker 5: Yeah?
- 1:04:19Speaker 4: He can't get there, no one?
- 1:04:20Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 1:04:21Speaker 4: OK.
- 1:04:21Speaker 2: So my wife moved out of our house and into
- 1:04:23Speaker 2: the raggedy Duplexum my cousin. It's been four years and
- 1:04:27Speaker 2: they still together. I still can't go over it. And
- 1:04:30Speaker 2: how I still can't get over how they do this
- 1:04:32Speaker 2: to me? How they did it, How they did it easy?
- 1:04:36Speaker 2: They both trice, especially your wife. But why you hanging around?
- 1:04:41Speaker 2: She don't want you and she don't deserve you. Now
- 1:04:45Speaker 2: I'm understanding, what is it? You can't get over?
- 1:04:48Speaker 3: It's over.
- 1:04:50Speaker 2: Everything's over except you. Why movie though? It's four years?
- 1:04:57Speaker 2: So now here we go. Here's the re enactment. Shirley,
- 1:05:01Speaker 2: you in the house with the man because I'm the
- 1:05:05Speaker 2: old lady's sister, old Dale to stay next door. Tommy,
- 1:05:09Speaker 2: you the dude that's looking for your wife.
- 1:05:12Speaker 3: And when they got cheated on. Okay, that's one that
- 1:05:15Speaker 3: got cheated on.
- 1:05:17Speaker 4: So is you over here? Hello?
- 1:05:21Speaker 6: Hello, Hey, Hey, how you doing?
- 1:05:23Speaker 2: Hold on, la, I'm talking Tommy then came over to
- 1:05:26Speaker 2: the house, so let me talk to commedy. We ain't
- 1:05:28Speaker 2: brought you in here. You in the house. You ain't
- 1:05:31Speaker 2: got nothing to say right now. You're busy, you're not
- 1:05:32Speaker 2: making noises.
- 1:05:34Speaker 4: Hey, mispraise what you're gonna be?
- 1:05:35Speaker 11: Put your reflectors there so I can put them on
- 1:05:37Speaker 11: here for you.
- 1:05:38Speaker 2: I want you to put it in there, cracking this
- 1:05:40Speaker 2: door to stop some of this racket in here. It's
- 1:05:43Speaker 2: some people in there having sakes.

- 1:09:10Speaker 2: don't make no noise because she's a Christian woman. She
- 1:09:12Speaker 2: like a nice and choir. Two weeks into it, a
- 1:09:15Speaker 2: lot of sex noise coming from the house. The old
- 1:09:17Speaker 2: lady calls over reports it. He goes over to the
- 1:09:20Speaker 2: house to change the address. One night, he see his

- 1:09:33Speaker 2: sex noises. He said, well, I think that's my wife
- 1:09:37Speaker 2: in now. Well, the old lady going, I told you
- 1:09:40Speaker 2: I didn't like that, helfe. And so now the reenactment begins.
- 1:09:44Speaker 2: Shirley is the daughter woman jo Anne that's in the house.

- 1:11:52Speaker 7: Right now.
- 1:11:53Speaker 3: You're listening to my man, the Steve Harvey Morning Show.
- 1:11:57Speaker 9: You're listening to the Steve Harvey Morning Show. All right, Steve,
- 1:12:03Speaker 9: this is from Chauncey and Anniston. Chauncey says, my wife
- 1:12:07Speaker 9: and I have two daughters. One is married and one
- 1:12:09Speaker 9: is not. My wife and I get a lot of
- 1:12:11Speaker 9: flak for treating the single daughter better than the married one.
- 1:12:14Speaker 9: The married one says, we get the single daughter better gifts,
- 1:12:17Speaker 9: her husband spoils her, but that's not enough for her.
- 1:12:20Speaker 9: She expects us to make her a priority too. The
- 1:12:24Speaker 9: youngest one is single, so we help her out more.
- 1:12:27Speaker 9: How do we handle this situation?
- 1:12:30Speaker 2: No, listen to me, when you when you gave her
- 1:12:34Speaker 2: away at that altar, she became his responsibility. Hell lord,
- 1:12:42Speaker 2: all of it. Don't don't call me with this him
- 1:12:45Speaker 2: what he doing. See, I'm your father, your daddy always.
- 1:12:52Speaker 2: But when I walk you down that aisle and I
- 1:12:54Speaker 2: hand you to him, you are now his priority and
- 1:12:59Speaker 2: his responsibility.
- 1:13:01Speaker 3: Okay, all right, all that that changes, man.
- 1:13:07Speaker 9: So and how do they handle the situation with the
- 1:13:09Speaker 9: oldest daughter? What they say that but you just said
- 1:13:13Speaker 9: because that was good?
- 1:13:15Speaker 2: Well, because it's so I've see, I haven't had to
- 1:13:19Speaker 2: say this, except I've had to say it to my wife.
- 1:13:23Speaker 3: What she married him for.
