- 0:00The B -Side and Boxing. B -Side shit. B -Side.
- 0:04B -Side. And the B -Side. You got a B -Side.
- 0:06The B -Side. B -Side. B -Side. B -Side. The B
- 0:10-Side thing. This is the B -Sides Boxing Podcast.
- 0:21Alright, let's fucking kick it off here. Boxing
- 0:27B -Sides. We're back to talk the fights. The
- 0:30comrades have assembled. Saul, the one and only.
- 0:35Welcome back to this all -American version of
- 0:38Turning Point USA. Turning Point USA. All -American
- 0:43Turning Point USA boxing b -sides, guys. Oh,
- 0:50no, there's a reason why I'm feeling pretty American
- 0:53today. Y 'all know why. Anthony Oluswaga is fighting
- 0:59Jukia Yumura. Oh, yeah, man. That's 100 % why
- 1:04I'm like that. And Josh. We are ready to fucking
- 1:10kick it off here. The news. Getting this one
- 1:14out of the way, there is a, I call it Mighty
- 1:17Minis. It's a lot of lower weight divisions.
- 1:20On March 15th on YouNext. This one's in Japan.
- 1:28KnockoutCPFreshmart is moving up to 108. By the
- 1:34way, please donate to the Patreon today. We are
- 1:38trying to purchase our own Knockout SP Discord
- 1:41fighter. It's probably going to be time. NonitoDonair
- 1:50is going to be on this in a WBA Bantamweight
- 1:54Eliminator. For whatever reason. And then Anthony
- 2:00Olasquaga is defending his WBO 112. Manny Pacquiao
- 2:08joins Team Boxing League. He will be fighting.
- 2:17He will be the primary global ambassador. He
- 2:22will be a member of the ownership group. And
- 2:25he will be the team captain for the San Diego
- 2:28TJs. Sure. This is where the older gent belongs.
- 2:38Like, if you want to keep fighting, this is where
- 2:40you should be. I don't know, man. I'm just like,
- 2:45oh, these exhibitions. Well, I guess they're
- 2:47not exhibitions. But, like, he looked really
- 2:51bad with that Korean dude before he fought Barrios.
- 2:54But then he fought Barrios and made Barrios look
- 2:56like an idiot. So, who knows? He made himself
- 3:00look young again, you know? Barrios made him
- 3:04look young. Yeah. I think that's a bad way to
- 3:07put it. Yeah. You know, when you think about
- 3:10it, this really is Keith Thurman's fault. I need
- 3:14your addition to talk about that today, man.
- 3:16I saw you say that in chat. I know. I soft launched
- 3:19it in chat. We're stuck with Manny Pacquiao because
- 3:23of Keith Thurman. This really is his fault. Maybe
- 3:30Manny Pacquiao is that good. He beat Keith Thurman.
- 3:35If Keith had not been knocked down, he would
- 3:38have squeaked by on the cards. At least with
- 3:41a draw, man. But yeah, Manny Pacquiao, Team Boxing
- 3:48League. Let's see here. Sky Nicholson is going
- 3:54to be headlining a card in April in Australia.
- 3:59Oh boy. Yeah. Nikita Zoo. Sky Nicholson, Simps,
- 4:08stay winning. Yeah, not me though. Kel Brook.
- 4:15will be returning April 11th in Dubai. This is
- 4:19not related to the Tyson Fury card. Yeah. He
- 4:22will. Yeah, he's going to be fighting. He's coming
- 4:26back to the pro ranks. Good fucking luck. Yeah.
- 4:32Let's see here. Tanongsak Simsri, the IBF 108
- 4:38champ, is facing Sergio Mendoza April 13th. Miguel
- 4:45Cotto renovated his gym, reopened to the public.
- 4:50They had a nice little PR event. That's a good
- 4:55little heartwarming thing. Yeah, it was really
- 4:57nice. They didn't show the gym much in the pictures.
- 5:01They mostly focused on the people that were there.
- 5:05And Miguel, his wife, and the other coaches that
- 5:10are in the gym. But yeah, it was really cool.
- 5:13That he's trying to keep boxing alive in Puerto
- 5:17Rico. Yeah, he's standing on the arms and shoulders
- 5:21of Dan Zayas right now. And the GOAT, Edgar Berlanga.
- 5:28Yeah, my GOAT and the King of New York. This
- 5:34is an interesting news piece. Team USA, the Olympic
- 5:39athletes, are going to be paid. This is from
- 5:44a giant donation made by some billionaire dude.
- 5:48He donated a lot of money and every athlete that
- 5:52makes the Olympic team will receive a $200 ,000
- 5:56check. That's fantastic. I wanted to include
- 6:01this because this is obviously going to include
- 6:03the boxers. It'll be nice for them to have cash
- 6:09and not have to take the... First pro contract.
- 6:15Yeah, the first promotion to put a contract in
- 6:18front of them and they just jump on it. They
- 6:21got a little bit of money to sit on. What billionaire
- 6:24game is doing this? I'm curious. Let me look
- 6:28it up. Because I don't remember. Financier Ross
- 6:34Stevens. Ross Stevens. Is he involved with Zufa
- 6:40at all? Not that I know of. If he's connected
- 6:48to Zufa, it feels like a ploy to, you know. Oh,
- 6:53to try to coax them and to push them towards
- 6:56Zufa? Yep. Yeah. Every athlete, even if they
- 7:04don't medal, gets 200k. I hope someone like Joseph
- 7:10Iwanongia. Joseph Jr. Joey Jr. I'm going to start
- 7:15calling him Joey Jr. Joey Jr. Gakes at the Olympics.
- 7:19Seeming pretty special prospect. But yeah, that's
- 7:24the little bonus that they're going to get for
- 7:27making the team. Also, that's fucking fantastic
- 7:31that they're still having the boxing at the Olympics
- 7:34this time around in America. Oh, shit. I should
- 7:39try to go to some. Did you sign up for it? Because
- 7:42I signed up for it. No, I didn't. I should, though.
- 7:47Well, the cutoff was... Let me see if I can find
- 7:51a link for you, and I'll send it to you, okay?
- 7:53All right. Ferocious Promotions. George Cambosos.
- 7:59Yeah. They're going to be putting on their first
- 8:03card in June, around that time. One of the...
- 8:10A little blurb from the press release was the
- 8:13focus will be on showcasing Australia's best
- 8:16emerging talent built around true 50 -50 matchups,
- 8:20real fights that matter with genuine competitive
- 8:23interest. Australian championships and regional
- 8:26titles will be on the line following the same
- 8:29blueprint I used to climb to the very top of
- 8:31the sport. Very top of the sport. Yeah. He did
- 8:39claw his way up with the weird IBF Eliminator
- 8:44fights that they make you do. And he took that
- 8:51one win off Teofimo and turned that into how
- 8:58many paydays? Two with Devin Haney, Lomachenko.
- 9:05So, yeah. Whoever managed his career, if they
- 9:11are managing in ferocious promotions, I would
- 9:16feel comfortable that my career would take a
- 9:19good direction. They could get a fucking mongoloid
- 9:23like George Kambosos to where he got. No limit
- 9:34boxing. Wins the purse bid for Lewis Crocker
- 9:38versus Liam Parrow. I think Parrow said something
- 9:44about not having to worry about questionable
- 9:48judges. If he had fought in the UK. Last one.
- 9:55Yuri Orkus Gamboa will be lacing back up. No,
- 10:00not lacing back up. He's going to be taking them
- 10:02off, actually. Bare knuckle boxing. Sorry, I
- 10:06don't know if you expect me to say anything about
- 10:07Lewis Crocker, Liam Parrow, first bid. I'm just,
- 10:11I was just going to let it speak for itself with
- 10:13the silence. Yeah, well. Honestly. C 'est la
- 10:19vie. There's some fun recaps to get to, so let's
- 10:25fucking do it. First things first, Friday, February
- 10:286th, Matchroom in Mexico. Bunch of rock 'em,
- 10:39sock 'em robots. The main event, Christian Medina
- 10:42defended his WBO bantamweight title against former
- 10:48108 titleist Adrian Curiel. Pretty one -sided
- 10:55affair. But, oh, baby. This is why we're here.
- 11:08Queensberry at the Echo Arena in Liverpool. Looking
- 11:16up the bill. Andrew Cain, he will be... He's
- 11:24a relevant character later. He will be relevant
- 11:27later. He gets a stoppage in nine over Alejandro
- 11:33Gonzalez. But... The main event. Nick Ball, the
- 11:39WBA featherweight champion, is stopped in the
- 11:4312th by Brandon Figueroa. Oh, my goodness. What
- 11:53a fight. Fucking finally, though. Why does everyone
- 12:01hate Nick Ball so much? Well, he's just... He's
- 12:06a scouser. He's a scouser who shitty fanbase
- 12:12fights shitty opponents very carefully managed.
- 12:15With a shitty attitude. Struggles against these
- 12:18shitty opponents. Kicks and fouls constantly
- 12:22when fights are not going his way. And... I've
- 12:29never seen a career more built around waiting
- 12:32for the payday than Balls. Credit to his management,
- 12:39but holy fuck. He's a dreadful watch because
- 12:43he's one of those inside fighters who isn't powerful
- 12:49or that fun. He kind of just gets in your chest
- 12:53and smothers everyone's work. You're like motorboating
- 12:59all the time. Yeah, basically. Like, he's nothing.
- 13:04He's not a fun personality. He's not a fun fighter.
- 13:07Very cocky. Like, a very, very, very weak champion
- 13:13who's had more controversial results than a guy
- 13:16of his stature really should have. BFig, on the
- 13:21other hand, he's very, obviously, because he's
- 13:23very humble. He was happy to even be there. You
- 13:28know? And... He should be there. Oh, yeah. I
- 13:32mean, yeah. He's happy to be there. And he won
- 13:35the fight. He put up a good scrap. Do I think
- 13:39he's going to beat the other champions at 126?
- 13:42I don't know. Maybe he beats Leo. Maybe. But...
- 13:49I think B -Fig... Again, not to try to down his
- 13:55performance. Put down his performance. He put
- 13:56on fucking... In my opinion, obviously the knockout
- 13:59of the year because he knocked out Nick Ball.
- 14:00I'm going to fucking call him a legend for that
- 14:03because fuck, Nick Ball's... Yeah. Similar to
- 14:08Omar. He's got a basically like a... He burns
- 14:14bright for a shorter amount of time. And he's
- 14:19already... He did like... I feel like the premise
- 14:21of this fight from the Nick Ball management,
- 14:23like Nick Ball protection program was... This
- 14:26guy's kind of washed. Like, he really had to
- 14:31scrape it out against Joey Gonzalez, and it's
- 14:35definitely split on whether he actually deserved
- 14:36that win. And the Mark Maxayo fight, too. I remember
- 14:41there was some controversy there. Controversy
- 14:43there. Yep. And that's what I mean. Like, he's...
- 14:48The whole point for Nick Ball was to, like, you
- 14:51beat up on a guy whose perception is being super,
- 14:53super washed. And you get full credit as if you
- 14:57beat him when he was good. And it's hilarious
- 15:01that it backfired that spectacularly. I think
- 15:06this is mandatory, right? Was it mandatory? He
- 15:10didn't really have to fight them, honestly. I
- 15:13don't recall if it was the mandatory challenger
- 15:14or not. Which title was it? The WBA? Yeah. Yeah,
- 15:19no. There's no way he had to fight a mandatory.
- 15:23Either way. Thank good riddance to Ball. You
- 15:33don't think we see him again? Well, I think we're
- 15:36going to have to see him. Jazz Dickens? Jazz
- 15:44is at 130. He could move up, but he's 5 '2".
- 15:49He's a fucking meatball already. Yeah, so what
- 15:53I will say is he probably hangs around for Inoue
- 15:57Nakatani to happen and fights the loser. And
- 16:04gets iced by them, too. They probably get smoked
- 16:07by the loser, but it's a payday. Meanwhile, he's
- 16:09going to hang around at domestic level like he
- 16:11did pretty much his entire title reign, too.
- 16:17What about Luis Neri? Neri smokes him. Like,
- 16:23the thing is that, like, I love, like, Figueroa
- 16:26pulled it out, but just look at the shot that
- 16:30he caught ball with. Like, anyone at world, like,
- 16:34real world level could land that. Which shot?
- 16:40The first time or the second time? The big first,
- 16:43the big one that caused the knockdown. That laid
- 16:46him out? Yeah. Like, that one, anyone could land
- 16:49that. Like, Neri could land that. Like, who was
- 16:55the one who knocked Inoue down? Was it Neri too?
- 16:57Or, yeah. Neri knocked him down. Cardenas knocked
- 17:01him down. Okay, so yeah, like Neri caught him
- 17:04with a, again, huge, huge left hand. Who's to
- 17:08say that doesn't happen to Paul? Especially considering
- 17:13it could be a Joe Joyce situation because he
- 17:15hadn't been knocked down before this. It could
- 17:20totally be a case of his chin cracked right there.
- 17:25Yeah, he hadn't been down before. Not at all.
- 17:32I don't think we've seen the end of Nick Ball
- 17:36at the top level. If he could, moving down would
- 17:43probably be ideal. Yeah, but... He's going to
- 17:49have to work his way back up, either way you
- 17:51look at it. That was a pretty devastating loss.
- 17:56Like, because again, like, let's say, oh, I'm
- 18:01going to just fight a top 10 guy at 122. That's
- 18:05Cardenas. I got a good move for him. Go to what?
- 18:16I was going to say, go to 130, fight Jazza Dickens,
- 18:19and potentially get a title. If you win, you
- 18:25do unification with Oshaki Foster. You know what's
- 18:30hilarious, though? It would be Anthony Kakash.
- 18:34Anthony Kakash, yeah. He's probably beating Jazza
- 18:37Dickens. Honestly, Kakash has the best managed
- 18:41career of all time. I mean, he's not that bad
- 18:44of a fighter. He's pretty good. No, he's pretty
- 18:46good, but I'm saying he's pretty good and he's
- 18:48just tearing through all of the last generation
- 18:51Brits at this weight range. Like, if Kid Galahad
- 18:59was still around, Kid Galahad would be on the
- 19:02fucking chopping block too. That is a name I
- 19:05have not heard in a long time. Listen, I only
- 19:09keep Kid Galahad as ball knowledge because, oh
- 19:13my god, watching Kiko Martinez obliterate him
- 19:16was so, so satisfying. It's such a good gift.
- 19:24Let me see if Discord still has it. Kiko got
- 19:28brought in as an easy scout for somebody and
- 19:32he ended up sparking them, didn't he? Yeah, that
- 19:34was Kid Galahad. That was him? That was his first
- 19:36title defense. Because he beat Jazza Dickens
- 19:41for the IBF World Featherweight title. Kiko Martinez
- 19:44was the easy first defense, and then... It wasn't
- 19:50so easy. Let me pull up the highlight here for...
- 19:54Because it's so funny. It's actually so funny
- 19:59watching it happen. This is one of my, like,
- 20:04degenerate boxer fights. Degenerate boxing fan
- 20:07fights where I actually sat down and watched
- 20:09this live instead of just catching, like, this
- 20:12broadcast afterwards. Like, if you skip... It's
- 20:19so funny. It's basically... It's five seconds
- 20:22into the sixth round. Five seconds into the sixth
- 20:27round, he just destroys him with a right hand.
- 20:32I'm pretty sure that's Howard Foster, like, cradling
- 20:34him like a mother breastfeeding a child. Like...
- 20:37It's just so... It's beautiful. But, um, yeah.
- 20:44Akash, my favorite. One of my favorite Brit slayers.
- 20:47Just the way he's only fought Brits for the past
- 20:51couple years. What about you, Saul? Did you watch
- 20:54all this Brit destroying? Or are you a new -gen
- 20:58Brit hater? I'm a new Jimbo hitter. I'm not going
- 21:02to lie. Shit. You got to watch it. Oh, my God.
- 21:08He just lays him the fuck out. Holy shit. I'm
- 21:12listening to it. I'm enjoying the history lesson.
- 21:17I'm not going to lie and pretend like, hey, yeah,
- 21:19that was a great fight, guys. It was not a great
- 21:22fight. It was basically like. Kid Galahad would,
- 21:25like, jab and take, like, two shuffle steps back.
- 21:28And at the start of the sixth round, he just
- 21:31times him on one of those step backs. And just
- 21:36kills him. Oh, my God. Like, it's so funny. But
- 21:43just Howard Foster instantly stepping in. Not
- 21:46even, like, a doubt. He knew he was fucked up.
- 21:52He knew he was dead. Oh, he died. Like, straight
- 21:56up, it was so funny. So that's what I mean by
- 21:59Kakashi's taking out this entire generation of,
- 22:02like, British featherweights at 130 now. Love
- 22:06to see it. Love to see it. Nick Ball can join
- 22:08this pantheon of late 2010s, 2020s British featherweights
- 22:14who only fought each other. Um, Carl Frampton,
- 22:19does he fit that bill? Let me see. Let me look
- 22:25at his box rec just to see if he fought. He did
- 22:28lose to Josh Warrington, actually. He was a part
- 22:30of this generation. Yeah, I remember. I went
- 22:34to his fight at the MGM Grand against Leo Santa
- 22:39Cruz. Yes. Really good fight. A surprising amount
- 22:45of people came out for Frampton. They always
- 22:49come out to the United States. It's actually
- 22:52weird. I'm not sure if we count him as Brit because
- 22:57he's from Northern Ireland. So technically UK.
- 23:00Close enough to British. To me, there's only
- 23:03one Ireland. And it's the fucking Republic. Exactly.
- 23:11Let's see. Let's go back to here. What does Brandon
- 23:13Figueroa do from here? Like we were talking about.
- 23:18Last time, we were talking about Bruce Carrington
- 23:21and his lapses in sound defensive judgment, but
- 23:29I don't think Figueroa can do... Can he do what
- 23:35Castro was able to do? Can he do more than Castro
- 23:38could? At an earlier point in his career, yes.
- 23:42Right now, a little dicey. Yeah, that's... He's
- 23:49washed. He's about... He's washed. I'm not going
- 23:53to sugarcoat it with beef fig. He's definitely...
- 23:58He's definitely on the tail end here. So he's
- 24:02got enough for one good effort, basically. Trilogy
- 24:07with Stephen Fulton. There you go, guys. Oh,
- 24:10shit. Maybe a 140, but... Oh my god. How do you
- 24:19move up two weight classes and still blow it,
- 24:21dude? Unification fights don't look like they're
- 24:26in the cards, though. Espinoza's a top -ranked
- 24:29guy. Carrington is a top -ranked guy. He kind
- 24:31of just gets to pick whatever non -champ in his
- 24:35vicinity that he wants to basically go out on
- 24:39a good note against. Yeah, I mean, it's going
- 24:43to be fucking... It's going to be Hell's Hostage
- 24:45and Makaladi, guys. A nice champion to add to
- 24:50your card. To your cards. Yeah, like... Who did
- 24:55Turkey extend the offer? He extended the offer
- 24:57to fight on the card, but with no specific opponent,
- 24:59right? Random Figueroa on Mexico versus the world.
- 25:02Yeah, but no specific opponent. I think it's
- 25:05going to be fucking... He didn't pick anyone.
- 25:08Some random dude. Watch me anyway. Man, that'd
- 25:13be some horrible reward. That'd be funny. What
- 25:18a shitty reward. You pull a knockout of the year
- 25:23out of your ass and immediately get rewarded
- 25:25with hate. So your head is going to land anywhere
- 25:28between the third and fifth row. That'd be funny.
- 25:34It would be pretty funny, though. I don't hate
- 25:36BFake that much, though, so I'd be a little sad.
- 25:40You think he fights Sam Goodman? I was thinking
- 25:44it. He could fight Sam Goodman. He's not a power
- 25:48threat. Big payday in Australia. Yeah. He can
- 25:53be caught, right? He's not that fleet -footed.
- 25:57He's also not that good, so it's a fight he could
- 25:59win. Exactly. Yeah, he's really not that good.
- 26:01But he's good on paper. Yeah. Hmm. I'm looking
- 26:07down the box rec list here. Omar Trinidad, that
- 26:11fucking weirdo over at Zufa. I mean, I guess
- 26:16you could do Neary or... Lewis Neary would be
- 26:22a good scrap. I'm not going to lie. That'd be
- 26:23a good scrap, but, like, again, I'm not... They
- 26:29fought before. Yeah. At 122. Yes. Neary's fat
- 26:35ass got taken out by a body shot. Mm -hmm. Still
- 26:41not a good scrap. Not a good scrap, George Gonzalez.
- 26:44George Gonzalez rematch for a world title. Not
- 26:49needed. But not unwelcome either. I mean, honestly,
- 26:56I know it sounds fucking dumb, but I seriously
- 26:59think that a Stephen Fulton rematch is a possibility.
- 27:03Those are making the weight, bro. I have a feeling
- 27:07that the PBC is going to do some weird shit like
- 27:09that. They're going to make him do a trilogy
- 27:10fight. It's not too out of the realm of possibility
- 27:16to keep it in -house, at least for the first
- 27:19one. That's true. And Stephen Fulton could probably
- 27:24win that one too. He beat him twice. Probably.
- 27:28If Fulton doesn't show up, doesn't roll into
- 27:31the ring, he'll do a good job. If anybody...
- 27:35He wanted to take an easy first defense. Could
- 27:40run it back with Mark McSayo. People thought
- 27:43he won. So it was a good fight. And put the chatter
- 27:50to rest. I don't remember who it is in Discord
- 27:54that was just livid at the McSayo decision. Oh,
- 28:01my God. We always have diehards for everything.
- 28:03I actually love that chat. I think it was toast.
- 28:06Yeah, I love that there's just diehards for everything,
- 28:09though. It's funny. Yeah, like you wouldn't expect
- 28:13a Max Ayo fucking Homer, but... Oh, there it
- 28:18is. Yeah, there's one. Well, the world is Brandon
- 28:23Figueroa's fucking oyster. right now for like
- 28:28the next six months yeah he's got he's trying
- 28:32to think of he's on borrowed time yeah who were
- 28:34we talking about last time that has recently
- 28:39won a title but josh kelly yes josh kelly that's
- 28:43what we were talking about he's got a title now
- 28:47but you got your find the highest bidder yeah
- 28:51lewis lewis crocker could not find the uh highest
- 28:56bidder it seems. So he gets to go lose to was
- 29:03it Liam Parrow? Yep. Yep. Because I'm going to
- 29:07say Liam Parrow is no joke and Lewis Crocker
- 29:09is not that good. Not enough to beat Liam Parrow.
- 29:16Anything more for Brandon Figueroa's Heroic rescue
- 29:25of the WBA title. Heroic rescues. Sorry. More
- 29:34like under new management. Under new management.
- 29:38Nah, I know that V -Fake doesn't duck. It doesn't
- 29:43duck, but I mean, it's not going to be fighting
- 29:44unifications. That's more circumstances than...
- 29:49That's politics. Yeah, that becomes a politics
- 29:53discussion rather than a discussion on him. Well,
- 29:59I don't think anything's going to be different
- 30:00with that belt. Just a new... Maybe there might
- 30:05be. I don't know. I mean, fuck. We've been having
- 30:09our own version of Riyadh cards in America with
- 30:12these PBC cards with fucking Top Rank and Mashroom
- 30:14fighters on here. Stephen Fulton is... pretty
- 30:21dangerous defense to take. Especially considering
- 30:27you lost him twice. Exactly. Like, Stephen Fulton
- 30:29has his number. Yeah. Again, I just don't think
- 30:35it'll happen because of the weight. Yeah. This
- 30:38is a guy who moved up a weight class and still
- 30:42blew it by two weight classes. Like, he's ranked
- 30:47at lightweight right now because of how bad he
- 30:51blew weight. All right. Let me put in some notes

- 33:31Thursday, February 19th. Ohashi promotions at
- 33:37Korakuen Hall in Tokyo. Why are we talking about
- 33:43this? Jin Sasaki is back, baby. Versus Marlon
- 33:48Pagalpalan. That was mouthful. You know what?
- 33:53It'll be fun. Yeah. Sasaki is fun. Fun little
- 33:57card. I'm happy. And I'm always up at 3am, so
- 34:03it doesn't matter. shit matchroom at the Nottingham
- 34:11Arena on Saturday, February 21st. Let's see here.
- 34:17Moving up the bill, David Allen. Anthony Joshua.
- 34:25Dude, Anthony Joshua could have come out of that
- 34:29car after the car accident and still stopped
- 34:31Dave Allen in six. Like, come on. He could have
- 34:36still been injured from the accident and still
- 34:38done the job. No, I remember there was an infamous
- 34:42TBA that ended up coming together late, and it's
- 34:45probably... This one is boxing math, to use your
- 34:50metaphor. So he had a barn burner against an
- 34:54Argentinian dude named Ariel Esteban Bracamonte.
- 34:59Bracamonte. That sounds worse than that. and
- 35:01it was just a this fight was just a barn burner
- 35:05they had their mouths like they were breathing
- 35:07out of their mouths by the opening bell and they
- 35:12just went to war it was it's probably like the
- 35:16best it's probably the most fun worst fight you'll
- 35:18ever see well like i will make sure to check
- 35:23it out one day here i'll send you the the full
- 35:25fight it's worth watching I'll watch it while
- 35:29I'm playing some Nintendo. All boxing fans should
- 35:33watch this fight because this should be your
- 35:35bar for terrible heavyweight fights. Check it
- 35:40out. If there are two guys that you know have
- 35:43no aspirations to do anything ever at heavyweight,
- 35:46they should at least be this fun while being
- 35:50fat out of shape. Bracamonte and Gerald Miller.
- 35:59Up to that point, they had the heaviest combined
- 36:02weight for a professional fight. Until those
- 36:07YouTubers... Yeah, they broke the scale with
- 36:11their fight. It was a truck weighing scale, by
- 36:14the way, so you know it's bad. It's fucking crazy.
- 36:18I'm serious, dude. Boogie and Wings of Redemption.
- 36:24That's what I mean by everyone has their vices.
- 36:26My vices are just two fat dudes beating the shit
- 36:29out of each other. Will always be my vice. Because
- 36:34it's so fascinating. How are you a professional
- 36:39athlete this out of shape? That's why they call
- 36:45them heavyweights. Yeah, you ever jingle keys
- 36:47in front of a baby? That's basically what it's
- 36:49like. Moving up, the bill, Molly McCann. Meatball
- 37:00Molly, the UFC chick. Meatball Molly. Meatball
- 37:03Molly. Is in a six -rounder at super bantamweight.
- 37:09Sandy Ryan is fighting for the vacant WBC super
- 37:13lightweight title against Carla Zamora. Ishmael
- 37:18Davis versus Bilal Fawaz. I think this is for
- 37:23the... Like British and Commonwealth stuff. I
- 37:26don't keep track of that. But I think I saw that
- 37:30that's what this is. And in the headline, Lee
- 37:35Wood versus Josh Warrington. What a rematch.
- 37:41This is the one we've all been waiting for. It
- 37:44was a barn burner. I'm so excited for the same
- 37:47people to keep fighting each other forever. Josh
- 37:54Warrington is one of the dirtiest fighters ever.
- 37:57Literally ever. Oh, my God, dude. Like, I...
- 38:02He's also probably, like... Like, Nick Ball heading
- 38:07in the direction of, like, he loses and immediately
- 38:10gets a shot at the same title because of politics.
- 38:13Because, like, if you look at his resume, he'll
- 38:15lose and then get another shot at the IBF and
- 38:19then lose and get another shot at the IBF. Or
- 38:22get into an eliminator with for the IBF. That's
- 38:27how you game the system. Just, oh my god. And,
- 38:34like, Lee Wood is probably one of the biggest
- 38:36overachievers I've ever seen. Because he straight
- 38:41up has, like, a rocky boxing ability. Like...
- 38:50Full honesty, he's not great at boxing, but somehow
- 38:54always wins. Most of the time. Most of the time.
- 39:00Lost to Jazza Dickens, dude. He lost to Jazza
- 39:04Dickens, and then got his ass beat pillar to
- 39:08post for 12 rounds by Michael Conlon before pulling
- 39:12it out. Yeah. That was one of my favorite knockouts.
- 39:18Hilarious. It's just like a video. It looks like
- 39:20one of, like, you know the 2007, like, punch
- 39:23out on the Wii? Yeah. Oh, yeah. It looked like
- 39:27one of those knockouts. Like, when you knock
- 39:29Aaron Ryan out of the ring. Like, just the, like,
- 39:35hilarious, like, epic knockout. Josh Warrington
- 39:42was also up there. Again, also being hit pillar
- 39:46to pole. Being... Punched, rabbit punched, head
- 39:49butted, and need pillar to post. And then just
- 39:54stops him randomly in the seventh. So, like,
- 40:01as much as we can, as much as, as British as
- 40:03he is, it's not, not fun to watch him. You know?
- 40:09I would give him, like, the plucky underdog.
- 40:14Yeah, like, he just. He just boxes like Rocky
- 40:17does, but the whole thing in the Rocky movies
- 40:20is that Rocky sucks. Hey, not in Rocky 3. I mean,
- 40:28I guess, but he was also missing the Eye of the
- 40:31Tiger, so. That's true. And those were all cherry
- 40:35picks, according to Mickey. Well, he came in
- 40:39being a roided out Soviet guy. Number one. Yeah,
- 40:44but that was all Will. Like, let's be real. Like,
- 40:47let's be real. Like, the whole point is that
- 40:49he's kind of a bum who just, like, he's able
- 40:51to take a hit and give it back. He's buffed Dave
- 40:54Allen, you're saying? No. Dave Allen is not athletic
- 40:58enough to give it back. Well, that's why he's
- 41:00buffed Dave Allen. Dave Allen has been buffed
- 41:06and still not giving it back. This is the thing.
- 41:10We've seen him in every body shape and size.
- 41:14And it's been the same thing. That's why I love
- 41:17him. He's terrible. Let's move on to the ring
- 41:25high stakes at the T -Mobile Arena. Starting
- 41:31from the bottom, Bektamir Melikuziev, Versina
- 41:36Akbeko. in a super middleweight fight. Yeah,
- 41:43I'm not mad at this. It's, like, Beko isn't terrible.
- 41:48Ish. No, yeah, he's not bad. I think, like, his
- 41:52only losses are to really good people. His losses
- 41:56are to Dave Morrell and Osley's Iglesias. No
- 42:00shame there. And then in the 2010s, there's stuff
- 42:03to, like, Vladimir Shishkin and Raymond Goetz,
- 42:05but, like, whatever. Beck the Bully comes to
- 42:09Rumble. He's vulnerable. He's vulnerable enough
- 42:15to make it interesting. Frank Martin versus Nahir
- 42:20Albright. 10 rounds at 140. My God. Keyshawn
- 42:25Davis' son. Keyshawn Davis' father, I mean. Sorry.
- 42:30Nahir Albright. Nahir Albright. Keyshawn Davis'
- 42:33father. You know what? It would be really funny
- 42:37if Frank Martin does him like he did Rance's
- 42:39Bartholomew. That would be pretty fucking awesome.
- 42:44It would be the funniest possible outcome for
- 42:46just another, like... I mean, yeah, he's like...
- 42:49He's like better than him, I guess. And then
- 42:52he just kills him. I hear Albright took... He
- 43:02pivoted from having a baby thrown at him. To
- 43:06this. So, that's nice. Yes. Well, not just that.
- 43:14He also won his last fight, too. Yeah, he also
- 43:16beat Kelvin Davis, the inferior Davis brother.
- 43:22And then got jumped in his dressing room by Keyshawn
- 43:26Davis. Who had a stroller with a baby in it.
- 43:31With a baby in it, yeah. Just on standby, by
- 43:35the way. Just on standby. But you know what?
- 43:40It'd be really funny if Frank Martin just plastered
- 43:43him. No disrespect to Keyshawn Davis' father.
- 43:47But I need more GIFs. They're really funny. More
- 43:54Frank Martin GIFs. Frank Martin GIFs are always
- 43:57so funny. Because the two we have of him are...
- 44:00One is Tank, literally just... disintegrating
- 44:04him. And the other one is of him disintegrating
- 44:07Rance's Bartholomew. It's good. He also got rid
- 44:13of the Muhammad Ali cosplayer Michelle Rivera,
- 44:16so I will forever appreciate him for that. Will
- 44:25you appreciate Richardson Hitchens? defending
- 44:29his IBF super lightweight title against Oscar
- 44:32Duarte. Good fight. Yeah, it's a good fight.
- 44:39I'm just like, oh, my God. I want to be so high
- 44:41on Hitchens, but he's like a caricature of how
- 44:45people describe Shakur, how I describe Shakur
- 44:47Stevenson. Yeah, no, I mean, Shakur never went
- 44:52and almost lost to Gustavo Lemos and pretty much
- 44:55had to get robbed. I'd rob him. I don't know.
- 45:00Like, that's what I mean. Like, he's a caricature
- 45:02of how people describe Shakur Stevenson. Africa!
- 45:07Africa! It makes me, like, I want to like Hitchens.
- 45:12He's clearly good, but also, like, fuck. Yeah,
- 45:16he's talented, but at the same time, he's not
- 45:19all that. I want to rip my hair out every time
- 45:23I watch him fight because he could engage more.
- 45:25He very much has the skill to engage more. And
- 45:29it's not like he has pillow fists. He's just
- 45:31a very negative fighter. I was going to say,
- 45:33I was going to use that term. He's a very negative
- 45:36fighter. He's just so negative because he clearly
- 45:40has the pop to at least bother guys and then
- 45:44just, oh my god. Like, even, like, yeah, him
- 45:49stopping Cambosos, he was cool and all, but,
- 45:52like, there were seven other rounds of NyQuil.
- 45:56Whatever, man. Maybe Duarte will bring it out
- 45:59of him, though. I'm hopeful that Duarte could
- 46:05catch him with something. Oh, yeah. Just at least,
- 46:08like, not even the win, just to make him do something.
- 46:13Something that he's never done before. I was
- 46:17telling... When I was talking with Shanada about
- 46:19this fight a while ago, it said the same thing.
- 46:24Just that Duarte catches him with something.
- 46:29But I was thinking that that would make Hitchens
- 46:32retreat into his cave a little more. Just be
- 46:39more negative to avoid any more damage. He probably
- 46:44will be. Next. Yep. Gary Antoine Russell defends
- 46:52his WBA 140 title against Andy Hidaoka. Okay,
- 46:58this fight's going to be gangbusters. I'm so
- 47:00excited for this one. Me too. I like Andy. He's
- 47:05really athletic, really explosive. Should be
- 47:11fun. Fun clash. He's fun. Gary Antoine Russell
- 47:16is good and fun. That's good. Great co -main.
- 47:21This is probably going to be a way better fight
- 47:26than the main itself. Let's be fully honest.
- 47:29Yeah, I think you're right. As a fight, this
- 47:33is so much better than the main. As much as I
- 47:37do like Andy, there's always... There is always
- 47:42talk when he comes up in Discord about whether
- 47:46he's, you know, is he actually, who has he fought?
- 47:49Is he actually that good? You know? Real. And
- 47:54yeah, to an extent it's true, but this is the
- 47:58time to find out. Because he's got a really fucking
- 48:02elite opponent in front of him. So we're going
- 48:06to see if the Andy stories are real. Let's see,
- 48:11but I mean, I honestly feel like a guy that way.
- 48:14I can't even call this one. See, unlike the Hitchens
- 48:18fight, where I know Hitchens is probably going
- 48:19to win, this fight, I can't decide. Because,
- 48:25again, Gary Antoine Russell, great fighter, but,
- 48:29I mean, have we ever seen him fight a guy kind
- 48:36of like Andy Arauca with the... Same kind of
- 48:40amount of closeness. I mean, come on. Pueyo.
- 48:51Pueyo is a totally different skill set. I was
- 48:54going to say, Pueyo, you've got to really get
- 48:56a tang of the in and out, and it doesn't help
- 48:59that. Who in his camp died that really threw
- 49:02him off for that? His father? His father, yes.
- 49:06So that fight is kind of a write -off. I can
- 49:12agree with you on that. But I just think this
- 49:15fight is just... In my opinion, it's going to
- 49:17be the hardest fight of his career. Oh, absolutely.
- 49:19Like, hardest fight of his career that he's present
- 49:21for. Yeah. Like, this will show you what he's
- 49:24made of. I agree. Like, if he gets... There's
- 49:28a chance that either man can get knocked down.
- 49:30There's a chance it could be a fight of the year.
- 49:32You know? It could be fucking... It could be...
- 49:35I don't see no way that this is not a gangbusters.
- 49:38Oh, yeah. No, like, there's no... Both these
- 49:40guys are going to engage and engage good. It'll
- 49:42be... It is going to be gangbusters. Mm -hmm.
- 49:46Just sucks that it's not going to be a PBC quality,
- 49:49but... I mean, maybe they'll stop the 4K that
- 49:53they used for Stevenson Lopez. Did they use 4K
- 49:59for that? Hmm? Did they use 4K for that? It looked
- 50:03like it. I don't know. We'd need Hazy's TV to
- 50:07really tell. Yeah, that's true. We'd need a top
- 50:14-quality TV, not the plasma TV that has been
- 50:18so often discussed in chat. Noted. Hitchens Truther.
- 50:26Hitchens Truther. That was for the main. And
- 50:33in the main event. WBC welterweight champion
- 50:36Mario Barrios fights Ryan Garcia. Ooh, we're
- 50:42going to have a good one for this. Man, I'm going
- 50:43to gouge my eyes out. I look at his box rack,
- 50:46and every time I see two consecutive draws...
- 50:49That shit is too funny, man. It's too funny.
- 50:53It's so funny. I think we're going for number
- 50:54three, depending on how Ryan shows up, too. I
- 50:59got my last prediction with Ryan wrong. And I'm
- 51:06going to go out on the land and say he's going
- 51:07to win this fight. I think he's going to beat
- 51:09Mario Barrios. He's more than good enough to
- 51:11beat Mario Barrios. The question is, is he going
- 51:15to show up locked in enough to do so? Well...
- 51:20Because Mario Barrios is not durable at all.
- 51:24I hate to say it, but it's not the tank fight
- 51:27that makes me question the durability. It's the
- 51:30Keith Thurman fight where the contractually...
- 51:32Keith was wearing, like, 12 -ounce gloves and
- 51:35still knocking him pillar to post. He rearranged
- 51:38his face. Yeah, and those were with pillows.
- 51:42Honestly, I'm going to keep it real with you.
- 51:44I agree to a sense, but I think the fight that
- 51:47shows me his vulnerability is with the Abel Ramos
- 51:49fight. Well, I'm trying to ignore the two draws
- 51:52in terms of, like... Vulnerability? No, just
- 51:57in general, because, like, it's kind of... The
- 51:59longest -lasting welterweight champion is a dude
- 52:03who just gets nonstop draws. I mean, let's be
- 52:06for real. I mean, the Keith Thurman fight, I
- 52:08know the 12 -ounce gloves, pillow fist, but also
- 52:13Keith Thurman's also pretty damn good. At the
- 52:15time, he was pretty good. Oh, I know, but he
- 52:17was coming off an insane amount of ring rust
- 52:19and just, like... beat his ass with pillows like
- 52:24that's I'm not saying they should be doing no
- 52:26damage but it's like every shot was wobbling
- 52:30him yeah which is like that's more damning like
- 52:34he took Keith Thurman yeah home run right hand
- 52:37whatever he took it off the gloves and still
- 52:39shook as he's a big guy dude and the thing is
- 52:45but one thing is that Keith Thurman was accurate
- 52:48as fuck is Ryan accurate? He can be if he's fast.
- 52:53Ryan hits harder. Yeah, 100%. I genuinely wonder
- 53:00how big the ring is going to be on the site.
- 53:03But if Ryan wins, it's going to be my knockout.
- 53:05There's no way that Ryan's going to win. I think
- 53:06Ryan's confounding. He's got that silly shell
- 53:08that he still uses. It'll be really funny if
- 53:12he gets confounded against the silly shell. What
- 53:18I will say is... I genuinely think that Ryan's
- 53:21going to fight. I think Ryan's going to fight
- 53:23desperate in this fight, and so is Mario Barrios.
- 53:26Both of them are at the... Obviously, Mario Barrios
- 53:29is champion, but he's coming off two draws, and
- 53:32Ryan is coming off a loss. His last fight was,
- 53:37before that loss, was Devin Haney, where it was
- 53:39overturned. The fight before that is Oscar Duarte
- 53:42in, like, what, 2023? 2023. That's the last time
- 53:46he legitimately... Won a fight fair and square.
- 53:50Nothing being overturned. Not a loss. Last time
- 53:53he was in a championship bout was, I believe,
- 53:55with Tank. And he lost too. No, wasn't Rowley
- 53:58for... I meant the time before that too. So all
- 54:03championship fights that he had, he lost. So
- 54:08we'll see what happens with Barrios. I generally
- 54:12think this is going to be the time he becomes
- 54:14champ. He really has to. A, the universe needs
- 54:19to make it happen before Virgil gets a world
- 54:21title fight. B, that's the number one way to
- 54:27get a Devin Haney rematch or to run it back with
- 54:29Rowley. One thing I will say is that Mario Barrios,
- 54:38he's coming into imminent enemy territory. I
- 54:41will say, though. Haney -Ryan unification does
- 54:46a crazy gait. Oh, yeah. 100%. Crazy gait. Crazy
- 54:51gait review. That's a crazy gait. That's a crazy
- 54:54fight, like, commercially. People are not going
- 54:58to remember Mario Barrios, or they're not going
- 55:00to remember Roley if Ryan knocks out Mario Barrios,
- 55:04who is arguably might be better than Roley in
- 55:08terms of skill. He's better than... Well, if
- 55:11you use Tank as the measuring stick, one, like,
- 55:14kept it close with Tank down the stretch. The
- 55:17other guy got nuked in as soon as Tank got sick
- 55:21of carrying him. Yeah. I gotta say that. I think
- 55:27Mario Barrios, if he wins, he's gotta knock out
- 55:29Ryan. He can't go wait for it, Ryan, because
- 55:32someone's... Tim Cheatham's gonna put a fucking
- 55:347 -5 Ryan card in there. Or, like, 9 -3. I don't
- 55:40even care if Mario Barrios got robbed low -key
- 55:43after the double draw robbery. The drawberry,
- 55:47as Leo says. Yeah, the drawberry. Two consecutive,
- 55:52by the way, drawberries. But I have not... I
- 55:57can see it happening. I can see some shit happening.
- 55:59It'd be really funny if he just has three fights
- 56:03in a row that are all ridiculously controversial.
- 56:07My thing is that Ryan's for sure going to get
- 56:09that Devin Haney fight no matter what. Oh, yeah.
- 56:12Whether it happens now or later. I don't know.
- 56:16Or if it's even big. Yeah. You know? Because
- 56:20if Ryan loses, I mean, Ryan is not... Obviously,
- 56:24he's still a star, but he's not seen as how he
- 56:26was years ago. He's not at that same level at
- 56:29all. He fell from grace pretty hard. Yeah, he
- 56:33fell from grace pretty hard. He's surviving off...
- 56:35Going on kick streams with fucking some dude
- 56:37named Oblivion. Who, again, he's a streamer.
- 56:41But, I mean, he's not as big as the other guys
- 56:43that are out there. Before he was doing Aiden
- 56:46Ross and all this shit with fucking other people.
- 56:50Jake Paul before. But, I mean, now he's doing
- 56:53fucking with, what, Oblivion? He's scraping the
- 56:57bottom of the barrel. And Ryan needs this win.
- 56:59He needs it. And honestly... I think he sounds
- 57:01pretty good. I haven't heard his Vice voice recently,
- 57:04the one he had with Demi Haney. So that's pretty
- 57:06good. I don't think he's drinking or partying
- 57:11like crazy. You think he's locked in? I genuinely
- 57:14think he's locked in. I think he was locked in
- 57:18last time too, in a sense, but I think he uses
- 57:21the excuse that he wasn't. I don't know. That's
- 57:24my opinion of it. Granted, also, he's also popping
- 57:29up on stream, so what the fuck do I know? I'm
- 57:31a fucking boxing fan. I'm not an analyst like
- 57:32fucking all these other guys. I'm in the fucking
- 57:36gym every day. What the fuck do I know? He might
- 57:41just be in it for the money. All very compelling
- 57:43points that you made, both of you. I am going
- 57:47to stand by. I would very much like for there
- 57:51to be another draw. Simply because it's too fucking
- 57:55funny. To have three draws in a row. Arguably
- 57:59lost. More than likely. Probably did lose. But
- 58:05you got a draw anyway. Oh my god. Let's not remember
- 58:11that. The Fabian Maidana scores. Were also a
- 58:14little wide. They were a little wide. Considering
- 58:19that Maidana. Actually gave him trouble too.
- 58:23So this is. Man, please, please, Ryan, free these
- 58:31shackles. The Devin Haney rematch would be excellent
- 58:35if it was a unification. It's probably going
- 58:38to happen regardless. They're going to call it
- 58:42the legendary unification fight, like how they
- 58:44did with Crawford and Spence, Spence and Porter.
- 58:49They're going to try to put it like, which it
- 58:52will. It's going to be up there with. It's probably
- 58:54one of the most popular welterweight unifications
- 58:56in history. Yeah. But, I mean, I don't know.
- 59:00If it happens naturally like that, I'll be happy.
- 59:03But, I don't know. No tears will be shed for
- 59:08Mario Barrios' title reign. No. Not at all. Not
- 59:13even Omyra Figueroa's. Well, I don't think she's
- 59:18even around anymore. No, they split up. What's
- 59:22up with her now? She's back on the market, baby.
- 59:25Oh, Leo. Leo, you got them B -sized connections
- 59:29to Bob because he calls you up to B -fig. But
- 59:32how good we've been talking about him. Like,
- 59:34hey, introduce me to your sister. Oh, my God.
- 59:39I wonder why they split up. That's actually kind
- 59:40of interesting. Yeah, there's no rationale. All
- 59:44I've found is social media posts saying something
- 59:47like, I have stepped into the hardest role in...
- 59:51In the world. Being a single mother. With no
- 59:56mention of why. Maybe he left her. Because I
- 1:00:02don't see him mentioning her. Yeah. I checked.
- 1:00:06While we were watching the Figueroa fight. For
- 1:00:10some reason. I got zoned in on it. And I checked
- 1:00:14both of their stuff. And they scrubbed each other.
- 1:00:18Jesus Christ. And they have a kid together too.
- 1:00:20They do. Well, I don't know. Maybe he was, like,
- 1:00:25doing some shit behind her back, or maybe she
- 1:00:28was doing shit behind his back. But to scrub
- 1:00:30like that with a kid, I don't know. That seems
- 1:00:32kind of interesting. That's harsh. B -Sides drama.
- 1:00:38Boxing B -Sides drama club over here. Yeah. Well,
- 1:00:42I mean, after Saturday, when Ryan Garcia takes
- 1:00:47Barrios' title, he'll still have a... The baby
- 1:00:51will still have a world champion uncle. It's
- 1:00:56a better role model. Yeah. And soon to be owner
- 1:01:03of a podcast and ex -military. Stepfather. Why
- 1:01:12not? Fuck it. I'm going for it. I gotta go to
- 1:01:16Waslaco, Texas. Let's see. Last words on the
- 1:01:23ring high stakes. High stakes? I'm hungry. The
- 1:01:30real main event is Russell vs. Hiroko. The people's
- 1:01:37main event. I wonder why it's not like a dual
- 1:01:40headline. Or even like a PBC. I actually liked
- 1:01:46when PBC did the two, two charlots in one night.
- 1:01:50That was, that was a really, that was a really
- 1:01:52good card and idea. But what I mean is like,
- 1:01:56it's, it's on, it's on DAZN and PBC. Oh, have
- 1:02:00it streaming on both networks. Yeah. I thought
- 1:02:04you were talking about doing like the two, two
- 1:02:05cards thing. And I'm like, ah, that was, that
- 1:02:08was so good. No, like, seriously, it just fills
- 1:02:11up. It was such a good idea, though, like, because
- 1:02:13you basically have two good undercards, two good
- 1:02:15mains, one price, all in one place on one afternoon.
- 1:02:21It's great. Now we got that shit on the zone.
- 1:02:25No, we don't. I wish we had. I wish we had cards
- 1:02:29that good on the zone. Remember when Turkey said
- 1:02:32he was going to do a pay -per -view for $25 and
- 1:02:35then said it was going to be free? And then his
- 1:02:37own remember when his own said pay -per -view
- 1:02:38was dead and then gave Tevin Farmer six million
- 1:02:41billion dollars. I think I saw a video the other
- 1:02:44day of a generational boxing one. It was fucking
- 1:02:46about Tevin Farmer. I was like, okay, I'm not
- 1:02:48watching this shit. Oh, I saw that exact like
- 1:02:50TikTok and I was like, we're really glazing Tevin
- 1:02:53Farmer right now. Yeah. What's this? What's this
- 1:02:58shit? I mean, I'll respect Tevin Farmer. Respect
- 1:03:01to him like over earning and overachieving. But
- 1:03:04like. The latter, like, half of his career is
- 1:03:10literally just, like, Eddie Heard throwing money
- 1:03:13away. And then Floyd Schofield becoming the king.
- 1:03:19All right, one more card before we get out of
- 1:03:22here. Sunday, February 22nd, Salida promotions
- 1:03:27on DAZN in Detroit. Oh. There's really only one
- 1:03:35fight on here that really matters. Clarissa Shields,
- 1:03:39the undisputed heavyweight champion. Oh, this
- 1:03:43is at heavyweight too? Yeah. Oh man, Cruz Dizern
- 1:03:47is going to be immobile. Rematching Franchon
- 1:03:52Cruz Dizern. They've made their pro debut against
- 1:03:55each other. Fuckin' 2016. What was that at like...
- 1:04:03Super welterweight? Super middleweight. Heavyweight
- 1:04:09is such a... This is the fakest division ever
- 1:04:11to exist in boxing. Women's heavyweight? Women's
- 1:04:14heavyweight. Oh my god. Like, I can't... For
- 1:04:21the record, Cruz Dizern is getting dragged up
- 1:04:23from super middleweight for this fight. Like...
- 1:04:29Man. Like, Clarissa really, I don't think she
- 1:04:34has better uses of her time, frankly, but I also
- 1:04:38don't think getting mad when people say no one
- 1:04:40watches your fights is also, like, there's both,
- 1:04:44this is a rare, like, both sides of a fighter's
- 1:04:48validity in regards to viewership argument are
- 1:04:51actually correct. I really wish Shadesha Green
- 1:04:55didn't suck. If she didn't suck, we would have
- 1:04:57had... It would have been actually a pretty good
- 1:04:59name for a shield. But, uh, no. The... Just to
- 1:05:06add to the, like, calling this the fakest division,
- 1:05:10the different sanctioning bodies have the weight
- 1:05:15the same, and I believe it's 175. Some of them
- 1:05:19call that heavyweight, others call that light
- 1:05:21heavyweight. But, uh, yeah. Oh, shit! The WBF?
- 1:05:25title's gonna be on the line too oh my god holy
- 1:05:31shit oh my god dude i'm just oh my god i'm just
- 1:05:39so over like this isn't like a fighter i can
- 1:05:43say when will you fight anyone good like no when
- 1:05:45will someone good appear at your weight class
- 1:05:46before you age out she is currently 30. I know,
- 1:05:54which means we got like 10 more years for someone
- 1:05:57else to pop up who's okay. By age 45, I think
- 1:06:06she'll be beatable by the people around her,
- 1:06:08though. BoxRec only has one page of women's heavyweights.
- 1:06:17Only 49 women on those. And only four, no, five,
- 1:06:25hold on, only six with winning records above
- 1:06:291 -0. Yeah, a good chunk of these are 0 -2, 0
- 1:06:35-3. 9 -12 -1, 16 -38 -0. 16 -38 -0 is such an
- 1:06:45entertaining record because how did you fight?
- 1:06:48You're just fighting people who don't exist.
- 1:06:52Actually, never mind. Wait, she's at heavyweight
- 1:06:56right now, but she did fight Amanda Serrano in
- 1:06:592011 at 126. 15 years ago, man. Holy shit. That's
- 1:07:08how dire it is. We have featherweights fighting
- 1:07:10at heavyweight. The number two ranked heavyweight
- 1:07:14is a 7 -0, what is that, Colombian. She's 24
- 1:07:17years old. You know what? Might as well just
- 1:07:19throw her in. Throw her in with shields. There's
- 1:07:23no other. She's 24, considering the rest of the
- 1:07:28top five is above age 35. Yeah, and this Colombian
- 1:07:32chick, she's been heavyweight the whole time,
- 1:07:35so it's not like she's moving up from... Maybe
- 1:07:38the size. Maybe the size will do it. I don't
- 1:07:44know. I think Shields still has another 15 years
- 1:07:47before she becomes beatable. No one's going to
- 1:07:51be touching her. She's got another 15 years.
- 1:07:56That's a crazy thing to think, though. It's not
- 1:08:00even hyperbolic when I say that she has 15 years
- 1:08:04on this planet before she becomes beatable. Yeah,
- 1:08:10any fights that she takes from now to then, she's
- 1:08:15not going to be taking any damage. No. Realist,
- 1:08:19if she wanted to keep going to age 50, she could
- 1:08:22still be competitive at age 50. She hasn't taken
- 1:08:26any damage in her career. She's skilled on top
- 1:08:30of being athletic, but the skills still remain
- 1:08:32even as that wanes. It's not like there's any
- 1:08:35power to fade. Yeah, there was the talk of paying
- 1:08:40Layla Ali to come out of retirement just to make
- 1:08:43some kind of compelling fight. I think she has
- 1:08:48to start doing the George Foreman seven women
- 1:08:52in one night. Just line up seven women for her
- 1:08:56to fight back to back to back to back. I'd watch
- 1:08:59it. I'd watch it and you don't even have to fill
- 1:09:03in an undercard. That's the card. The only ones
- 1:09:06who really have a chance are at the end. Yeah,
- 1:09:09at the end. You put the best opponents at the
- 1:09:11end, and that's how you do it. It's not even...
- 1:09:14I can't even... Most fighters, you can come up
- 1:09:18with a reason to slander them. Clarissa Shield
- 1:09:20has no... Zero people within 50 pounds of her
- 1:09:24that can give any sort of reasonable challenge.
- 1:09:28It's just hilarious, honestly. Maybe she should
- 1:09:32have stayed an amateur, honestly. Until recently.
- 1:09:37She probably could have had another Olympic medal.
- 1:09:40Yeah, probably could have gotten endorsements.
- 1:09:44Yeah, more endorsements, another Olympic medal,
- 1:09:46and then still turn pro and have the same career.
- 1:09:49And the 200K for making the Olympic team. Yeah.
- 1:09:53She would have had the same career no matter
- 1:09:55what moment she turned pro in. So, like, I don't
- 1:09:59know. The fact that we're even discussing this
- 1:10:02instead of the quality of the fight itself speaks
- 1:10:04volumes with her at this point. Yep. There's
- 1:10:09not a whole lot to say on it, because Clarissa's
- 1:10:12going to whip that ass, and that's pretty much
- 1:10:14it. That's about it. Mm -hmm. And how. Okay.

- 1:13:28and Andy Hiroka. That's the weekend we got. Parting
- 1:13:32words. I hope Ryan Garcia wins because that'll
- 1:13:41mean a Devin Haney rematch is... Almost certain.
- 1:13:45Or maybe he could fight Brian Norman Jr.? Well,
- 1:13:48no. I had to throw him in there, guys. I'm sorry.
- 1:13:52Get him out of here. On a real note, the people's
- 1:13:59main event, Andy Hirooka and Gary Antoine Russell,
- 1:14:02I really hope that fight is as good as it promises.
- 1:14:07Because that's such an easy fight of the year.
- 1:14:10Contender. Just on paper. Alright. That's going
- 1:14:21to do it for this edition of the Boxing B -Sides.
