- 0:09supporters, all of our listeners, and of course
- 0:11everyone who nominated for us in the first round.
- 0:14If you'd like to help us win the category, there's a link in the
- 0:17podcast description. And now on with the show.
- 0:24Last time on no latency. I was going to say, what's that
- 0:28supposed to mean? But actually in this case, yeah.
- 0:31Do you still think he's hot, Vivi?
- 0:33I don't know how to answer that question.
- 0:34That itself is the answer. Fine back here.
- 0:36Whoa. Right, let's head into jail.
- 0:39Yeah, let's. A sudden nympho.
- 0:42Doctor Glass. Who the hell is Doctor Glass?
- 0:44Just a guy. That's a.
- 0:45Clone. The clone works at a hot dog
- 0:47stand. Yeah, Anyway, in in my ear.
- 0:49What were you saying? I.
- 0:50Don't know what Maelstrom is doing with all these guys.
- 0:52Vivi, what you just told me is not a clone.
- 0:54Don't look do good. Don't think he's going to be
- 0:56much harm to anyone. Is thus a mutant.
- 0:59That's. Why the other guy died do.
- 1:00Not show him that give. Him a peaceful out if he wants
- 1:04it, I. Could, yes.
- 1:05Not until we transfer his debt to us.
- 1:08Hey, Iona. Damn.
- 1:10Do you have anybody fuel bite? I don't have any on me, but
- 1:29there are some back at the lab. I mean, we do have some.
- 1:39Oh that is true. Domino is made of body fuel
- 1:46bite. As is a germ.
- 1:49Wait, wait. Made of.
- 1:51It's not important right now, Germ.
- 1:54I, I don't have time to explain. You could feed a little bit of
- 1:58Domino to this person feed, that's the option.
- 2:05Or we could go back to the lab. Well, I guess we don't really
- 2:09have a choice right now. This guy, the clone guy, he
- 2:15could be saved if we give it to him.
- 2:21So I think we should help. Hey buddy, I'm going to help
- 2:30you. So I don't see my blind.
- 2:33I take the blindfold off. Oh God.
- 2:35Hi, I'm I'm I'm a doctor and I'm here to help.
- 2:39And he looks at you from the ground with awe.
- 2:44Behind you, near the door, the fluorescent light is causing a
- 2:48Halo effect around you and you see him well up with tears as he
- 2:54looks you in your face. My guardian Angel, you're not a
- 2:58male. Strip.
- 3:00Wait, are we going to live? You are going to live, Yes.
- 3:04What? Yes.
- 3:07You're just going to stitch me up, doc.
- 3:09Yes, it's a little bit of a complicated process, but it's
- 3:14OK. It will be quick and you will be
- 3:17able to be on your way and go back to your hot dog stand for.
- 3:20Your non citizen? Oh fuck, what the fuck is that?
- 3:26This is Domino and he's just going to feed you a little
- 3:31something. Is he it?
- 3:33Maelstrom is that. No.
- 3:35Not no thank you fee fee. The maelstrom their kaput.
- 3:43Kaput. Yeah, they're gone.
- 3:46Oh no, where'd they go? Oh, Oh, no, wait, are you like a
- 3:52sympathizer? No, I was just being sarcastic.
- 3:55I don't know, I'm under a lot of stress.
- 3:58All right, fair enough. They're all dead.
- 4:00Oh fuck. They're all dead, said the
- 4:03executive as his head pops up. Yeah, and oh, wouldn't it be
- 4:07interesting, buddy, if, you know, just saying us, my, me and
- 4:16my chums. What if we didn't want to let
- 4:19you go? Maybe, maybe you give us a
- 4:21couple. You relax.
- 4:27You were like you Mr. Exec me. You know, that biotechnical
- 4:32story was a nice story, OK, but I think we're not going to let
- 4:37you go. OK, shit.
- 4:39Well, it's not like. You, you don't even know who I
- 4:41am so. I think I know.
- 4:44Oh. God, Mark Ziger.
- 4:49DV touch a cigar. Yeah.
- 4:52Mark. Mark Ziger.
- 4:54Fuck. Oh, oh.
- 4:57What is his position at Biotechnica?
- 4:59He's. Middle management.
- 5:02His is in office there. Phoebe, if you really want to
- 5:06get under his skin, telling me doesn't have the bureaucracy
- 5:11skills to get him out of middle management.
- 5:15What's it like to be the middle management at Biotechnica, Mark?
- 5:20Oh, fuck. I don't know if you're going to
- 5:22be able to get out of there and move up the latter I.
- 5:27Think. Cool.
- 5:32Plus reputation plus 1D10. Oh, I did not roll well.
- 5:40I forgot it's VB helps people. That's my reputation.
- 5:51That's what I wrote. Right, so you rolled A15I rolled
- 5:55dice on the table. He has a base of 10 for this
- 5:59this cool and his reputation, but he did roll a three.
- 6:03So he rolls under you and is now incredibly intimidated.
- 6:07Every role you have against this guy for the rest of this
- 6:09encounter is minus. One now, Mark, I think before me
- 6:16and my chums let you go, Maybe you pay, pay up that ransom
- 6:21money you were talking about. Yeah, I think, I think we'll be
- 6:26taking it. OK.
- 6:29I mean, you know, they say that having a a.
- 6:32A chairman. In, in, in, in in the corporate
- 6:34sector is like useful. Yeah, well, I might know a
- 6:38couple. Oh, OK.
- 6:39But it's not you. Well, this.
- 6:41Problem is I can't pay all of my debt.
- 6:43Can I just give you the money I have?
- 6:45How much you got? 2000.
- 6:53Well, human perception. What is he O?
- 6:57Role local expert to find out Iona.
- 7:00Got it, got it, got it. Got.
- 7:04It. Human Perception 12 You believe
- 7:08him? Yes, yes, I'm going to see if
- 7:11Iona. I'm trying to find can whisper
- 7:16in my ear. She happens.
- 7:17She's like, no, I. Think on Roll 20.
- 7:19You're local. Yeah, there.
- 7:20You go. I got it.
- 7:20Yeah. 17 he owes $4000 you. Guys, take it. 2000 eddies, huh?
- 7:30See if you can squeeze anymore out of him, but honestly take it
- 7:33and cut him loose, yeah. Yeah, I think you're right.
- 7:37Well, I mean, look, I could just, I could see your, your arm
- 7:47looks like it is partially fractured from being tied up
- 7:51like this. You know, I could just take the
- 7:53arm and turn that into a full break.
- 7:56What that would that would take at least 8 to 12 weeks.
- 8:01Jesus Christ. That would take at least 8 to 12
- 8:06weeks to recover, as opposed to the four to six weeks of the
- 8:10fracture. Well, I mean, I, I, I have
- 8:13biotechnical insurance, they pay 30%.
- 8:17Well, it's your funeral. And I walk toward his arm.
- 8:25Roll persuasion, he gets a negative, but roll persuasion
- 8:29it's. Just such a pass I don't have.
- 8:35This this is so good. This is.
- 8:39OK. All right, he has.
- 8:45All right, so it's this +8. Yeah, this +8.
- 8:57Gosh. He rolled a.
- 9:02Flat 0. OK, OK, OK.
- 9:05Look, I owe 4000, I told this but I don't have it.
- 9:07I've only got like 2500 in my account so you can just fucking
- 9:10have it. All right, send me the 2500.
- 9:14OK, I won't forget this, you know.
- 9:18Yeah, yeah, yeah. Get out of here.
- 9:20OK, he fucking hobbles out. Can you?
- 9:23Not to be like me. You're a doctor.
- 9:24I hurt. I toss him a an air hypo with a
- 9:29stem in it. Fuck.
- 9:33He gives him 1D6 health, he injects it into his arm, he
- 9:36threw it. He gives him 2 HP.
- 9:38That's so pathetic. So like, what's that worth it?
- 9:45He throws the hypo on the ground after transferring you 2 1/2
- 9:50grand. Was it worth it?
- 9:56Iona as the guy. The guy is moving past Vanna
- 9:59White. If you want him to not see you,
- 10:02you have to roll stealth and so does Mendel all.
- 10:05Right can. Do.
- 10:16Oh no. He locks eyes with you in the
- 10:21van and gives you a weird look and you turn to look for Vendel
- 10:24and Vendel is hiding. Why are you not hiding?
- 10:29He saw you. Yes, he did.
- 10:33What what is what is his last name again?
- 10:35Bendel. Zeiger.
- 10:37Zeiger. All right, I'm.
- 10:39I'm putting this in my tile right now.
- 10:40If anything comes up with him through e-mail, through any
- 10:44notification, through work, we are immediately going after him.
- 10:50OK. He didn't see me though, so
- 10:52let's remember that. Good, good.
- 10:54I'll, I'll write that down in my notebook of, of things that I'd
- 10:58notice while we're out on missions.
- 11:01That's a good plan. Old players should do that.
- 11:04The GM that makes the GM really happy.
- 11:08I don't really have a notebook. It's a sticky note that I found
- 11:10in my my bag. Don't, don't tell, don't tell
- 11:13the GM that. Let him think that you have a
- 11:16dedicated notebook for the game that you love and play.
- 11:20Fuck me, don't share me the post kit.
- 11:22That's the worst. It'll it'll go in the notebook
- 11:24which I do have. Wait, you guys.
- 11:27Might use a Word document. Iona after after failing to hide
- 11:33from this, we're going back to VV over this tied up math.
- 11:38Hello, Sir. OK.
- 11:40Now just go ahead and Domino, can you actually how?
- 11:52Yeah. Possibly the combat.
- 11:54Knife. Oh, oh, sure.
- 11:55Yeah, I wasn't going to use it. Thank you.
- 11:58He doesn't have flesh hands, so Domino undoes a bit of a shirt,
- 12:04revealing his strong seek underneath.
- 12:09Cuts a line on his left Peck, collecting the blood on the side
- 12:14of the blade. How?
- 12:15Much does it need the baby? He honestly just like just a
- 12:23little vial's worth is probably fine.
- 12:26May I have a vial? Yes, here you go.
- 12:29Thank. You.
- 12:32And he drips some blood into a vial, filling it to, you know, a
- 12:35few millilitres of blood. And he hands it back to you.
- 12:39Thank you. Do you need and I have a gauze
- 12:43like bandage for the cut? No.
- 12:46Need to be there. Draws the blood across on one of
- 12:50his cybernetic fingers and licks it and the wound heals in front
- 12:55of you. Tis what a flesh wound.
- 13:00Yep, OK. What the fuck?
- 13:09Now listen, please don't be alarmed.
- 13:14I'm going to need you to drink this now.
- 13:20Can I? Can I ask your name?
- 13:23My name. Yes.
- 13:25I'm. Arthur, Arthur, Arthur, you
- 13:32there's no real easy way to put this You were part of a tragic
- 13:36experiment. What you are OK, however,
- 13:42however, there you may feel a bit different because as part of
- 13:48this experiment, which by the way I wasn't involved in, but I
- 13:51did find somebody else during my studies that had this happen to
- 13:56them. So that's how I know how to take
- 13:59care of you and cure you and everything like that.
- 14:02Will I get better? You will you will get better in
- 14:06some ways. But Jeb, can you, can you just
- 14:11grab me like a mirror? I think there was 1.
- 14:14Jeb, you're standing right next to a mirror.
- 14:15There is a sink in this room and a mirror to your left.
- 14:18Yeah, hold on one SEC off the wall.
- 14:21I'll, I'll just hold it for you. I'll be like a yeah, right.
- 14:26Is is. This now, Yes, that's good.
- 14:28This may be alarming. You have not tilted the mirror
- 14:32towards him yet. Jeb, you're waiting for VB
- 14:33Signal. Yes.
- 14:36But as part of this, this process, it was a gene splicing
- 14:40kind of process, your body was altered to look like somebody
- 14:46else. So you do not look like yourself
- 14:48anymore. OK.
- 14:50But you are still conscious. Your consciousness is still
- 14:53yourself. So I'm going to show you now
- 14:56what you look like. Jeb, can you just move the
- 14:59mirror? Yeah.
- 15:03Whoa, whoa, whoa. He's still turned up, so he's
- 15:06trying to like, move around. Wait.
- 15:07No, I have hair, yes. I'm not sure if this is like a
- 15:15good reaction or a bad reaction. Well, I'm not being funny, but I
- 15:19was just a guy who sold hot dogs.
- 15:21I wasn't exactly like a spring chicken.
- 15:24Yeah. What the fuck?
- 15:29Big. Nose.
- 15:30Who is this guy? He was all reversible, right?
- 15:33I could go back to being me. I don't know if I if I give him
- 15:38this, it's not going to revert him back.
- 15:40He'll forever be this. Unfortunately, no.
- 15:44You are forever changed. Oh, is it a bad face?
- 15:50No, it, it, I think it's a great face, I think.
- 15:55He'll give my job back. No one's going to recognize me.
- 15:59I've got no money. I can't get into my bank account
- 16:02because I'm assuming I don't have my original fingerprints.
- 16:05Well. That's a lot of problems that I
- 16:08can't help with because I'm a doctor.
- 16:10It's not as if you had some money give.
- 16:12Him, give him the money. Give him the money we just
- 16:17extorted from Mark Tiger. Here, Sir.
- 16:21Do you give him the full 2500? You don't have to.
- 16:27I'll give him 2000. Fair. 500 is my medical bill.
- 16:31He is. Still tied up though and you
- 16:33have not cured him so he is still going to die at this
- 16:35current point. Phoebe.
- 16:38Yes. How much does facial
- 16:41reconstruction cost? Oh.
- 16:47How much would that cost? It's probably expensive.
- 16:50The cheap one is 1000 Eddies corporate level ones like seven
- 16:561750. If you want a street doc to take
- 17:00care of it and might not be the best, 1000.
- 17:02If you want like the good, good. If you like 7000.
- 17:07Maybe give them an additional 2000, I'll pay you back.
- 17:11Yeah, we're all calling in here. Have you heard him yet?
- 17:17Have you heard? Him yet?
- 17:18No, you should probably. Do that.
- 17:20OK, OK. Yes, yes, yes, Sir.
- 17:22Arthur. OK.
- 17:25In order for so part of this process as well you right now
- 17:31our terminal. However, what this you just need
- 17:36to drink this and you will be fine.
- 17:38It's. It's that guy's blood.
- 17:42Yes, and it has regener. It has regenerative properties
- 17:45to it, so it will take care of you.
- 17:50Retro's made his way in here now, OK.
- 17:54Yes. So it has regenerative
- 17:56properties. It will help you.
- 17:57And then once that happens, my friends and I have decided to
- 18:01help you out. We're going to give you a bit of
- 18:03money to take care of yourself and you can be on your way,
- 18:06Will. You untie me.
- 18:08I'm very uncomfortable. Yeah, sorry about that.
- 18:11You untie him? Yeah.
- 18:15Sorry about that. OK, yes, so just obviously you
- 18:18need your hand to drink this vial, so here you go.
- 18:21He. Gets up and sits on a chair in
- 18:24this room. OK, I mean, if you say so.
- 18:29Yes. And he and he opens his mouth.
- 18:33Yeah, it's. A little nasty, but you'll be
- 18:35all right. Do you pour it in or hand it
- 18:37over? I hand it to him but I make sure
- 18:40he drinks it and if he doesn't then.
- 18:43I'm gonna. He takes a sip.
- 18:46All. Of it.
- 18:47All of it. Yeah, it's not that much.
- 18:50It's only a vial. What the fuck is going on?
- 18:57Why does that suddenly taste like BBQ sauce?
- 19:00For giving him Domino's blood. Yeah, I hope you like, I hope
- 19:04you like BBQ sauce. I'm going to be honest, all you
- 19:07really got to like the whole kind of BBQ culture and taste.
- 19:13If that's not really your thing, this whole thing is really going
- 19:16to be a huge curse. And you maybe what?
- 19:18What are you doing here? Black lines from his neck
- 19:23cascade through the skin that is exposed and a click.
- 19:28Oh God. I've seen you some injuries
- 19:31underneath. His clothes close up and he
- 19:35straightens his back. Whoa, that's great.
- 19:45Yes, yes, retro. He's no longer terminal and
- 19:49won't die in the next week or two.
- 19:52He will live is. There like any side effects?
- 19:56Do I have to worry about anything?
- 19:59Yes, there is one side effect. Pretty big fucking side effect.
- 20:08Well, you might. Either that or Death Retro.
- 20:10You may crave. I can't.
- 20:13I thought it at first. I thought it was blood, but I
- 20:15think you craved flesh. It's any organic flesh.
- 20:19You could just eat. So wait, you're you could just
- 20:23eat hot dogs and be good? I can eat hot dogs to like,
- 20:29heal. I don't know if hot dogs are
- 20:33actually flesh, but some sort of organic flesh.
- 20:39OK, do you know how fucked up that sounds?
- 20:44Yes, but what happened to you was fucked up.
- 20:47Right. So you're just going to give me
- 20:49money and let me go? Yep, yeah, here, buddy.
- 20:52I'm going to go to the guy. I'm going to be like here guy,
- 20:54here's 3000 Eddies don't get your face fixed.
- 20:57Whoa, All right, No one's ever been this nice to me.
- 21:01No one tips the hot dog guy so. Well, I'm doing it for your out
- 21:06of some little wow like ethics I have left.
- 21:10Look, here's the thing. You have to go get your face
- 21:13changed immediately. All right, first thing you go
- 21:17do, go get it changed. Where?
- 21:19Where do I go? Who?
- 21:19Who's good? Phoebe.
- 21:25I don't know the corporate. Check the garden.
- 21:27I'm sure that there's going to be reviews, but you go get your
- 21:30face changed, Phoebe. I mean, yeah, he could.
- 21:35He could go to Sawtooth. Who's who's got a card?
- 21:40Who's got softest card? I have, I do, but I'm oh good.
- 21:44Here you go, I'm. All the way in the back.
- 21:45We we know a guy, go to him. Go ahead now.
- 21:50Like right now. Go.
- 21:52Right now. Go.
- 21:53OK, I can just leave. It's nice to meet you.
- 21:56Thanks for letting me drink your blood.
- 21:58You're very welcome. Enjoy the rest of your life.
- 22:05Yes, resist the hunger, human. What the nothing?
- 22:11And he walks out to the building, leaving you all alone.
- 22:16Maybe. What the fuck are we doing here?
- 22:17Are we starting the coven of vampires?
- 22:21Maybe we are retro. He was going to die.
- 22:26That's like what, three people now that have this?
- 22:30It's only three. Well, not including.
- 22:33All the. Test subjects that we've had in
- 22:36mind. I should.
- 22:38Tell that, shouldn't I? I'm just saying we're bringing
- 22:41so far, except for Jeb, that's two people right now that we've
- 22:45brought from the brink or death back to life with this.
- 22:50You tell me it's not vampirism. And we that's close.
- 22:54The the, the part that we're missing here is that they don't
- 22:57have to eat humans. They can eat plants they can
- 23:03eat. It's organic flesh.
- 23:05It's not plant like fiber. They have to.
- 23:09And you know, organic is expensive.
- 23:13Unless they're catching rats out there, it's going to be very
- 23:16difficult. Cut, Seriously.
- 23:21Cut to Arthur in in an alleyway Crouch.
- 23:25Eating a rat? Start eating a rat.
- 23:31So he this guy sounds extremely dangerous.
- 23:34He's gene therapying people, people into mutants to make his
- 23:40own organs. If he this guy didn't get his
- 23:42face changed, someone was going to notice him because he is
- 23:44somewhat famous so. But he he has the cure.
- 23:50What you got, Yes, you got to stop.
- 23:54We hit the cure is in him somewhere, so we could figure
- 23:56that out, right? The injection was something so
- 23:58we could try to figure that out from that, but like, we need to
- 24:03stop making vampires, all right? I I agree, but look, there was
- 24:08it was really not like neither option was good.
- 24:11Like I could have let the guy to die.
- 24:13I mean, that could have been an option.
- 24:15We could go kill him now if you want.
- 24:17I just want to say. This fate.
- 24:19I just want to say this like I trust Jeb not to go ahead and
- 24:24start feeding himself to other people.
- 24:27Appreciate that. Domino honestly in flesh form
- 24:32now, still forming an opinion. If it was not flesh form, it'd
- 24:37be different. Right.
- 24:39Don't know this guy from Adam. You're going to tell me that
- 24:43this? Guy.
- 24:43His name was Arthur. Sorry.
- 24:47Well, we could keep tabs on him. I'm just saying there's this,
- 24:53there's thing in my brain right now that's making me think at
- 24:56some point there's going to be a ravenous fucking cult group of
- 25:01vampires feeding off each other. People force feeding.
- 25:05Like if Jeb was to be a true Dick and just started cutting
- 25:08flesh and force feeding at the people, how bad is this?
- 25:14I. Hear you go true.
- 25:19I hear you. And you're right.
- 25:22We shouldn't take this lightly. I mean, it's just one guy.
- 25:28I will not. If there is somebody on the
- 25:30brink of death, I will not go to the alternate to save them by
- 25:35turning them into a ravenous Flesh eater, or they're not even
- 25:40ravenous, but they're but a flesh eater.
- 25:42I will not if somebody including any of you and Body Fuel Bite is
- 25:51the only cure. Well, actually, let's let's make
- 25:54a pact right now. Iona Retro Vendel, If any of the
- 26:00three of you are on the brink of death, would you want to become
- 26:09a flesh heater? God, no, not yet.
- 26:14No. I'm going to tell you it's not
- 26:19amazing, but it's not terrible. OK, I'd always If it means
- 26:26saving everyone, then actually yes.
- 26:30OK. I'll be honest with you Vivi, I
- 26:35know I'm a piece of shit, drug addled son of a bitch.
- 26:40I don't trust myself not to at some point snap, so I would
- 26:46rather have that not be an option.
- 26:49OK. All right.
- 26:53I think that's fair. And now that we know Bendel is
- 26:59the only one who would consider it.
- 27:02If that happens, we will not go to that alternative method, nor
- 27:11will I look to that method for other people.
- 27:16But you can with me if it's safe to run and I don't mind.
- 27:18Yes, yes. What did you do out here?
- 27:24Yeah, well, like we know the OP of every Maelstrom group I went
- 27:30searching for where, you know, the little hive of, you know,
- 27:36was it the harvesting cyberwear? You didn't find a lot, you found
- 27:45a cyber arm and a cider hand. The rest is all car parts
- 27:47because that's what these guys mostly dealt in.
- 27:49It was Gavin Cars. Well, I took what I can from
- 27:52that and then I also tried to see what I could off that
- 27:54computer, but the data is still a bit fragmented for me all.
- 28:01Right, you do. You found a Dick load of scrap.
- 28:03I just rolled very high. That's yeah, dude, I just
- 28:09rolled. I rolled two 10's and a four.
- 28:11So I'm going to give you 240 scrap from all of the parts and
- 28:15stuff here. There's a shit ton of strap.
- 28:18And to cyber where you say? It's a cyber cyber arm and A and
- 28:22a very, very generic cyber hand. Not a tool hand, just a cyber
- 28:25hand. The computer had a little
- 28:27information, not a lot. They'd lent 4 grand to Mark
- 28:32Zeiger and the clones were listed as stolen from a medical
- 28:37facility. They say which medical facility.
- 28:39Right, you'd have to roll for that.
- 28:41I'm I'm rolling to see if it said what medical facility and
- 28:44where that's at. Cool. 32 yes, it's called
- 28:49medical warehouse. It's a medical.
- 28:51Warehouse. That's where I get my plastic
- 28:53gloves. It's a subcontractor for medical
- 28:56procedures, usually high exact level.
- 28:59Even with that electronic security tech, you have no idea
- 29:01where the building is. But I got a name.
- 29:04It's called Medical Warehouse. Right.
- 29:06All right, Domino, I think you have the right idea.
- 29:10Time to remove ourselves. We got the vending machine.
- 29:16Don't revenge. Yeah, but now I'm down at 25,000
- 29:19at ease. 2025 thousand. Journey into the world of
- 29:40Frostborn, the newest arc of Dungeons at Randomness takes
- 29:45place 100. Years after our last.
- 29:47Meaning it's a perfect time to jump into the show.
- 29:50A small group of adventurers embark on an epic.
- 29:53Tale of rebuilding and revenge. In the magically frostbitten
- 29:56world of Tharia, they'll struggle to stay alive in harsh
- 30:00conditions as they call in every.
- 30:02Favor they have in. Order to get payback against a
- 30:05corrupt king. New audio and video episodes are
- 30:08posted every Monday, and you can even.
- 30:10Help the group build the settlement as.
- 30:12Part of our discord. Find us on Spotify.
- 30:15YouTube or wherever you get your podcasts.
- 30:18The endless Winter. Has finally come.
- 30:33So you're telling me that you could have, like, you could have
- 30:37been fun of this entire operation for the past God knows
- 30:41how long, but I seem to remember that everyone thought that I was
- 30:44the rich one. Yeah, that's kind of the point,
- 30:50Jeb. Is to be.
- 30:53Wait, what's the point? Well, I'm not famous.
- 30:57I don't flash my money around. I save it, I invest it, and I
- 31:04keep under the radar. OK.
- 31:06So then nobody knows that I got money.
- 31:11Are you saving this 25K for something retro?
- 31:21Yeah, yeah, wait until I can get just enough so I can get a big
- 31:26gold statue of myself. Footwear.
- 31:29Arisaka used to say it. Would be a radiated retro.
- 31:36But it would still be. Cool.
- 31:38Valid. And who's going to go and steal
- 31:40an irradiated gold statue? Retro This is Night City.
- 31:47The answer to that is everyone. Which only makes me that much
- 31:52more famous. Are you not seeing the pattern
- 31:54here? I'm trying to set up here?
- 31:55Come on. Understood.
- 31:58OK, so we've learned that Retro has a lot of money.
- 32:06We have a vending machine. Yes.
- 32:11Which, you know, Domino, you haven't really told us what the
- 32:20whole point of this vending machine thing is like while
- 32:24we're bringing it back to the bar, like what's is there a is
- 32:29there a purpose? Is there a plan?
- 32:31We haven't let in on it. Jeb just a little bit more
- 32:36forward so the elevator can descend.
- 32:39Oh yeah, no. Problem.
- 32:43You'll feel the elevator clink as you start to descend into the
- 32:47bar in the vehicle. Well, I am aware that we have
- 32:54been using the same information screens etcetera for planning
- 33:01our machinations of the city. It was not.
- 33:11Entering into skin space has been an adjustment and frankly,
- 33:19this was easier inside the net. Yeah, the real world is tough.
- 33:28This is true. So I'm bringing some of the net
- 33:32to the real world. And how?
- 33:36How does that help the real world, exactly?
- 33:39And more specifically, how does it help you know us, presumably
- 33:43your only friends in the real world?
- 33:49Domino opens up the side of the van and starts to pull the
- 33:52vending machine out, carrying it on their own with their
- 33:55forearms. Retro and he.
- 33:59Slams it down on the table with the screen facing up.
- 34:03Now you put that in the large table.
- 34:05Please just detach the front half and install it.
- 34:10Yeah, sure. I'll be honest, I thought you
- 34:13just had a real hankering for a certain type of snack cake and
- 34:16that's why we're going for it. But all right.
- 34:19Be careful as you detach the screen, you could destroy the
- 34:22few items that are left inside. Oh is there anything I need to
- 34:27know? Does it need to be fully re
- 34:29grounded? No, it is unplugged.
- 34:32Are we plug and play here or are we having to go through
- 34:34soldering? We will have to do some
- 34:37soldering once it's on the table, but we're fine for now.
- 34:40Electronic security tech, Yeah. So you're undoing the screws
- 34:44around the outside of the screen.
- 34:46Around the outside. Around the outside.
- 34:49There's a plastic bevel and you can see it's got some prototype
- 34:52marks on it and the the this is obviously one of the first of
- 34:57run of this model of vending machine because after the first
- 35:01batch they glue the screen to the front to save money.
- 35:05Yeah, I'm obviously using some rubber size rubberized tool.
- 35:09So yes, I'm not scratching and breaking anything.
- 35:12Excellent. And as you sort of lift up the
- 35:13side, you've rolled high enough that you see the little ribbon
- 35:16cables and stuff, and you don't tear those and you unhook them
- 35:19very carefully. And then Domino helps you carry
- 35:22it over to the big table, which has a screen in it, but it's
- 35:26just a screen. It's not a touch screen.
- 35:28It's not holographic. Just 2D.
- 35:30It's like a. It's like a one of them.
- 35:34It's like the big billboard that for for like draft through Adams
- 35:38when you're working at a McDonald's, tells you like
- 35:40what's coming up. What you have to do next?
- 35:42Stole this screen that's in the table right now.
- 35:44Yes, Jeb, Exactly. Right.
- 35:47OK, OK. But.
- 35:48We're going to throw it away. Do you want a television?
- 35:51Oh, no, But that's all right. Right Retro.
- 35:54And he lifts up the screen. If you could remove the one in
- 35:57the table. OK, I was really caring if
- 36:04somebody wants it. I mean I could use it for
- 36:07something you. Can show them Is it bigger than
- 36:10your TV at home? No.
- 36:13All right, you remove it. You're all 29.
- 36:16You do a pretty good job. You don't scratch it, but it is
- 36:19a delaminated screen so it's not very sturdy and you remove it
- 36:24and place it down. I'm really just using it for
- 36:27parts. I'm probably not going to be
- 36:28using the screen, honestly. I mean, I could have been trying
- 36:32to use it for my TV at home, but my TV at home is like my actual
- 36:36wall. Like I converted my wall into
- 36:39ATV screen by just connecting a bunch of LEDs together.
- 36:45So it's, I mean, it's not hollow, which, you know, I know
- 36:49a lot. Of that sounds.
- 36:50Really cool. Why'd you never invite us to
- 36:52your apartment? You never ask.
- 36:55It's sauna, isn't it? Oh, you never ask?
- 36:57Oh, then it's the nice reason. That's fine.
- 36:59I mean, originally it was because Sano and Sano hated
- 37:01having people over. You get 38 scrap from removing
- 37:07that screen. Thank you.
- 37:09You're welcome. And then Domino in lays the
- 37:13screen into the table, uses one of their cyber fingers to open
- 37:17up the bevel just a little bit, and it slots in.
- 37:20Then they start along with retro plugging things on the
- 37:23underside. I know that so.
- 37:26Go ahead. Oh, we both were going to talk
- 37:28to each other, kismet. Ha ha ha.
- 37:32What? What was it?
- 37:32Domino? Stop it.
- 37:36Ha ha. This is this is very funny.
- 37:39You, as anyone, tell you, just a little gesture.
- 37:43I've been practising my comedy. Good job, I'm proud of you.
- 37:48Thank you. We're fine.
- 37:52Did we? Did we steal a vending machine
- 37:55because you wanted a new scream? Yes.
- 38:01We we killed people. Yes, but that was unrelated.
- 38:11So true, very true. I mean.
- 38:14And also they were previous antagonists.
- 38:17Well, I guess. We won't be seeing any more of
- 38:19them, huh? Absolutely not.
- 38:23And what were you going to say, Domino?
- 38:26I was going to say this is much like the tables you use in your
- 38:29corporate meetings. Oh yes.
- 38:32That's the aesthetic I'm going for.
- 38:35Oh, I like it so. Just to be clear, we did like a
- 38:41whole hast job thing for you and it was for interior decoration
- 38:46purposes. Yes, yes, it was.
- 38:50A laugh. It is different now, yes.
- 38:54Hey also we stole. We stole that vetting machine
- 38:57because thanks to Retro not destroying the objects inside,
- 39:00it's full of plushies. Well, expected a bigger reaction
- 39:07from Vivi, but OK. Plushies.
- 39:16Did someone feel like oh Domino got me something?
- 39:18Oh no. So I said plushies.
- 39:22Well, there's a bright side to all of this.
- 39:25We've we've dealt with our maelstrom problem.
- 39:29So. That's true.
- 39:31That's a pretty big bonus. And we have this blood that
- 39:37could be a cure for cyber rejection, cyber rejection.
- 39:44So that's also good. Yes.
- 39:51We learned a little bit more about this, you know, Doctor
- 39:54Glass Fellow. So it wasn't just getting a
- 39:59vending machine for an aesthetic reason.
- 40:03Well, I mean. What was the other reason?
- 40:05Taking care of Maelstrom and dealing and getting the blood,
- 40:08not the yes. To be clear, though, the vending
- 40:12machine kind of had nothing to do with us really lapping out
- 40:16the. Yeah.
- 40:17I mean that's all coincidental, honestly, look, I don't know why
- 40:20all of you are complaining domino.
- 40:22I'm all for it, all right, really it was as easy.
- 40:24It was supposed to be an easy job and you're still paying us.
- 40:27So I don't know why they're complaining.
- 40:29This is why you guys don't have any money.
- 40:30I'm. Not complaining, I'm just trying
- 40:33to clarify the importance of of purpose it it's important, but I
- 40:42don't know what to tell you. Retro The table needs extra
- 40:46bandwidth. Could you lay some cable?
- 40:50Did I say that in the funny way? Yes.
- 40:55I would I would say so. Good.
- 40:57I was implying you know. You.
- 41:01Are doing work with with a penis, yes.
- 41:08Oh oh, like laying some pad? You said laying cable.
- 41:12I was under the understanding that laying pipe was taking a
- 41:15dookie. Who taught domino the word?
- 41:21Who taught Domino Dookie? It wasn't me.
- 41:28Oh God, not him. Oh, hi, hi, hi.
- 41:34No, I, I've been. Alone.
- 41:36I'm sorry. No, no, no one's asked.
- 41:40About me in ages. I.
- 41:41Can make jumps. Bike drives and everything.
- 41:43Just reminding you I'm I'm I'm going to go and hack hack my
- 41:46existential Drake now. Good, he's gone.
- 41:53We should really check out the Nine's capabilities a little bit
- 41:57more in depth because I think that there's a whole system
- 42:01we're not utilizing here and who knows what our next mission may
- 42:05be. That's that's exactly what this
- 42:11table is for. For 9.
- 42:14No. Or is it for, is this kind of
- 42:16the thing where we can all like get around and we can vote on
- 42:19what the next job's going to be and there's going to be kind of
- 42:21a post in and, you know, maybe like 5 or 6 different options
- 42:25and we can go in and no, no, that's not it.
- 42:28One of one of the benefits of this is that it's programmable,
- 42:31so in theory, yes. Oh.
- 42:34Retro roll another check to lay the cable.
- 42:38I'm trying to find Dick. Damn 29.
- 42:45That's my metaphorical 1. Excellent.
- 42:48And with a final clunk, the data speed for the download of this
- 42:52table increases and you see finally it reach 100%.
- 42:59It is at this point that the screen goes dark and for a
- 43:04moment. Or consider that maybe this has
- 43:08gotten rather wrong. Oh.
- 43:11Shit, Windows Update again, no. No, they normally do this right.
- 43:17They they load and they update and then they restart
- 43:20themselves. Yeah, wait five more hours.
- 43:24For it to restart, I don't think that's going to happen.
- 43:27No for all the updates. That might be true.
- 43:30You got to choose. You do have to choose also.
- 43:33Very immersive. Very, very immersive.
- 43:37I'm immersed. Where'd all these stickers come
- 43:41from? Now we have to go get some
- 43:42fucking gooby gone now. I mean, I don't mind.
- 43:46It kind of adds to the whole aesthetic.
- 43:48You know, we could start putting our own stickers down there and
- 43:50it kind of reminds us of all the missions that we've been doing.
- 43:53What would be the sticker for the last mission?
- 43:56Oh, like the maelstrom symbol, but like, bloody.
- 44:03That's pretty good. What?
- 44:05What else could we make into? A what else?
- 44:10What else could we make into a sticker like the Vanna White
- 44:14would make a great sticker. Oh, absolutely, yeah.
- 44:18Just as long as we don't do one for a body fuel bite we don't
- 44:20need. To be No, I kind of veto that
- 44:23one. Now, as as you're talking over
- 44:26it, it finally boots up and there in the middle of this
- 44:29table is a map of Night City. Domino touches it once and a
- 44:36display shows up of all of your districts telling you the
- 44:40various locations of Night City. OK, I'm seeing it.
- 44:47We are here. Domino touches a little corner
- 44:54of Little Europe. Chicks out.
- 44:58Yeah, that's where I thought we were.
- 45:00That's us. And our various other friends.
- 45:05Clive's The Bubble Cafe. OK.
- 45:12Sorties. Yeah, uh huh.
- 45:16Taylor's every location we've ever been to is here on this
- 45:24table. What?
- 45:30So, So what you're saying is like you just kind of recreated
- 45:37Agps? Yes, in a sense.
- 45:42OK. And and and how is this
- 45:44different than like our our data pad?
- 45:48This is something that we can use dynamically to locate our
- 45:53ultimate enemy. Despite my level of power,
- 45:58discovering the location of the Syndicate has eluded me.
- 46:05Like God's eye. Exactly.
- 46:11This is how you locate things. This is how you locate things.
- 46:15We're going to have to triangulate the city.
- 46:22Oh. What?
- 46:26Oh, OK. In order to find out where
- 46:29they're hiding, we'll have to set up some sort of device in a
- 46:34few places in the city. We'll have to agitate an AI
- 46:40somewhere and get them to send a signal, and then we'll finally
- 46:48have our revenge. OK, I think it's brilliant.
- 46:52Is that brilliant? I can't tell.
- 46:53Is that brilliant? It's brilliant.
- 46:55OK, yeah, I love that. But also this table is now prim
- 47:01as fark. That well, hey, that's true,
- 47:07Very true. Next time on no latency.
- 47:23I don't see it. You know, as long as we got
- 47:26three of them up somewhere, we're good.
- 47:27They are smarter than we fear. Narrow it down, potentially
- 47:32later. Like, are they able to be subtle
- 47:34or do we think that they're like over the top?
- 47:37Finding them is going to be harder than you think.
- 47:39Put their machines in them places.
- 47:41DV grabs one too and and lights one in the.
- 47:44Bar. Oh, clandestine.
- 47:47OK, Jeb has occasionally used a big word like that.
- 47:50That sounds like a plan. Oh.
- 47:51Do you hear that? It gets a bonus.
- 47:53Nice. Dingle Lingle Jingle Ling slot
- 47:55machines slot machines. I don't know.
- 47:57Are you? Are you alright?
- 47:58Excuse me, let's get in there. You should come have a shot of
- 48:00moonshine with me. Yeah, I'll take one.
- 48:03Wow, yeah, look at that. No.
- 48:06You know, I really thought you're going to get something
- 48:08there, Iona. That is a tough one.
- 48:09Again. Again.
- 48:11Full of shit. You're full of shit.
- 48:13I'm back to looking over your shoulders.
- 48:14Yeah, best to play it safe. Knock people.
- 48:16They stuck last time, they're going to hit this time for fun.
