- 0:00Speaker 1: My next year. She's on the phone. She's hyped because
- 0:02Speaker 1: I I met her. UH our relationship by two years old.
- 0:06Speaker 1: Now I met her. I was hosting at leftoff competition
- 0:09Speaker 1: in Houston, Texas several years ago, and she was one
- 0:13Speaker 1: of the contestants and she won I believe ten thousand
- 0:15Speaker 1: dollars at the time. And she used that ten thousand
- 0:18Speaker 1: dollars to be UH seed money to UH start a business.
- 0:22Speaker 1: And she is the founder and CEO of a sale Lifestyle.
- 0:25Speaker 1: I have her clothes at my house. When she UH
- 0:30Speaker 1: launched on her day, I purchased of several items with
- 0:34Speaker 1: a bought more. But she's extended. She's building her line
- 0:36Speaker 1: because it's certain things I like to where. You know,
- 0:40Speaker 1: even though I don't work out all the time, I
- 0:42Speaker 1: work out time I'm chanting about me. I don't think
- 0:44Speaker 1: I work out to the level of sweat. I do
- 0:49Speaker 1: not go outside when I work out. I'm tom sorry, y'all.
- 0:52Speaker 1: I work out an air condition. I do. The ceiling
- 0:56Speaker 1: fan is above my head. I do work out. If
- 0:59Speaker 1: you look, menug he's in shape. That's all I need
- 1:02Speaker 1: from you. You don't need to know how much I'm
- 1:04Speaker 1: in shape. You need to look at me and go,
- 1:05Speaker 1: do you work out? I get that question a lot.
- 1:07Speaker 1: Do you work out? See? That's all I need. That's
- 1:09Speaker 1: all I'm seeking, y'all and my workout plan. Do you workout?
- 1:12Speaker 1: And I go? Yeah? See she has a fitness apparel
- 1:17Speaker 1: with anti stink fabric. That's what I wanna talk about this.
- 1:20Speaker 1: And I don't get to her anti stink stage. See. Well,
- 1:23Speaker 1: if I do get there, I'm ready. Though. If I
- 1:25Speaker 1: one day, y'all see me out that jog and in
- 1:27Speaker 1: my yard and I'm stinking, I gotta clothes on, I
- 1:30Speaker 1: wouldn't be stinking because I got on her clothes. About
- 1:33Speaker 1: three and a half years ago, she was tired of
- 1:35Speaker 1: throwing with her husband workout clothes because they stalk. One day,
- 1:39Speaker 1: she threw away his favorite T shirt from college and
- 1:41Speaker 1: he was not very happy. Been there, been there, been there.
- 1:44Speaker 1: On May twent four, this year was proclaimed in Houston,
- 1:48Speaker 1: Texas as Megan Eating Eddings Eddings Day and for all
- 1:52Speaker 1: of her for philanthropy in Houston. This date coinside with
- 1:56Speaker 1: launch of her sale lifestyle Please workome to money making Conversations.
- 2:01Speaker 1: They founder and CEO of a Sale Lifestyle, Megan Eddings,
- 2:07Speaker 1: Thank you laughing talking about your non stinky clothes. You
- 2:14Speaker 1: don't seat. Of course you're in shape. I mean, if
- 2:16Speaker 1: you ain't everything you baked, yeah, you wouldn't look like
- 2:19Speaker 1: you were in shape. But clearly you work out too.
- 2:21Speaker 1: I'm gonna tell you something. Here's my workout, Megan. I'm
- 2:24Speaker 1: just gonna let you know. Now, I get up at
- 2:25Speaker 1: four fifteen every day, right, so about the first five
- 2:28Speaker 1: ten minutes, it's really me asking why I'm up. I'm
- 2:33Speaker 1: there's a conversation about why am I up? I staggered
- 2:37Speaker 1: to the front of the house, you know, and because
- 2:39Speaker 1: I don't put the phone near my bed. Okay, it's
- 2:42Speaker 1: in another room, so it's it's it's so, it's it's
- 2:45Speaker 1: telling me I've learned that technique, you know, do not
- 2:48Speaker 1: put any clock anything you can can stop your movement.
- 2:51Speaker 1: You're moving far away, so I have to get up,
- 2:54Speaker 1: go into the room, I turn it off. It's in
- 2:56Speaker 1: front of the mirror. It's always in front of the mirror.
- 2:58Speaker 1: So I look at myself. I go, okay, wow, this
- 3:01Speaker 1: is what you look like. This cannot walk out to
- 3:07Speaker 1: do it? This look? Can I walk out to do it?
- 3:10Speaker 1: Making I'm just gonna let you know that. Then I
- 3:11Speaker 1: get down to the gym and I go to turn
- 3:13Speaker 1: on the news by four thirty. By then it's by
- 3:15Speaker 1: four thirty, So I've wasted fifteen minutes trying to just
- 3:19Speaker 1: staggering or I don't drink coffee. I don't drink anything
- 3:22Speaker 1: that motivates me to any stimuli. And so down there,
- 3:26Speaker 1: turn on the news to find out about the weather
- 3:28Speaker 1: because I gotta figure out what I'm gonna wear, you know.
- 3:30Speaker 1: So that's a big part of my day. Maker. I
- 3:32Speaker 1: gotta figure out what I'm gonna wear, you know. And
- 3:34Speaker 1: then I started, did I start to workout program. I
- 3:36Speaker 1: do like I do stomach crunches. I do like three
- 3:39Speaker 1: sets each. That's it. Okay, that's it. Okay. Air conditioning room, Okay.
- 3:46Speaker 1: Then I do some dips on the on the bench.
- 3:49Speaker 1: I do three sets twenty each. That's it. That's it.
- 3:53Speaker 1: I can just room. Then I go to another room okay,
- 3:57Speaker 1: where I have my actual equipment. I do three sets
- 3:59Speaker 1: of the flies. That's it. That's it. Okay. Then I
- 4:05Speaker 1: go to the treadmill ten minutes each, ten minutes max.
- 4:10Speaker 1: That's it. At three point five, that's it. That's it.
- 4:15Speaker 1: There there you go, perfect way to start today. I'm done,
- 4:18Speaker 1: so anybody else, I walk out of that look in
- 4:21Speaker 1: the mirror, I'll step on that scale. I walk out
- 4:23Speaker 1: in the streets. They go, your shape, I said, yes,
- 4:27Speaker 1: doing those dips, my friends, I'm doing those dips absolutely.
- 4:31Speaker 1: You know, people feel the back of my ill. Do
- 4:32Speaker 1: the dip so people can feel the back of my arm.
- 4:34Speaker 1: They go, that's that's that's the that's the sign right there.
- 4:36Speaker 1: If anybody trying to fake somebody like you in shape,
- 4:39Speaker 1: just makes you the back of your arm is in
- 4:41Speaker 1: shape and your soul because people always touch you back
- 4:43Speaker 1: in your own by accidents. Who you work out here,
- 4:46Speaker 1: that's right, that's right. But tell me, my friend, um
- 4:50Speaker 1: as life treating you as a as a small business owner?
- 4:56Speaker 1: Oh yeah yeah, small small business owner and officially in
- 5:01Speaker 1: absolutely well, you know, I gotta support I gotta I
- 5:06Speaker 1: gotta support you because, first of all, you have a passion.
- 5:09Speaker 1: I feel like we've been on the journey together. I've
- 5:13Speaker 1: seen you after you warned the ten thousand dollars, we
- 5:16Speaker 1: spoke a little bit and uh then I brought you
- 5:18Speaker 1: on the show and it was still uh, you know,
- 5:20Speaker 1: you were working on your patents and you start telling
- 5:22Speaker 1: me Ra Sean started making these trips to l A,
- 5:25Speaker 1: just started looking at what I want to do. You know,
- 5:28Speaker 1: because certain people that approached you about buying your your
- 5:31Speaker 1: your your your patent or design, you said no. And
- 5:35Speaker 1: so when you had the big launch date, I'm on
- 5:38Speaker 1: your email system because she she markets very well, and
- 5:41Speaker 1: so the big launch date and I participated in that,
- 5:45Speaker 1: and so but I do I don't want to start there.
- 5:48Speaker 1: I want to start early on so people can hear
- 5:50Speaker 1: your journey because you're still develop you're still marking, you're
- 5:53Speaker 1: still trying to figure out, you're still trying to add
- 5:55Speaker 1: different up your the variety of choices that people can
- 5:59Speaker 1: get tell us about when you want it in uh,
- 6:03Speaker 1: the whole patent process, and then we because we have
- 6:05Speaker 1: two breaks because I'm gonna bring you back to talk
- 6:07Speaker 1: about the actually what's going on right now? Okay, yeah,
- 6:12Speaker 1: yeah for sure, thank you. Yeah. So the patent process
- 6:15Speaker 1: that's just been uh, that's been wild. I mean basically,
- 6:17Speaker 1: when I started inventing the fabric because I was tired
- 6:20Speaker 1: of throwing away, you know, my husband's stinky workout clothes,
- 6:22Speaker 1: and I majored in chemistry. I saw a man. If
- 6:25Speaker 1: there's a wheel, there's a way. There's gotta be a
- 6:26Speaker 1: way to figure out fabric that doesn't think in this
- 6:29Speaker 1: day and age, you know when you're sweating, whether you're
- 6:32Speaker 1: working out or not. I mean, I live in Houston, Texas,
- 6:34Speaker 1: so if you just walk outside, you're probably gonna start sweating.
- 6:37Speaker 1: And so did a bunch of research. There's a lot
- 6:40Speaker 1: of cold calling. Basically that means I's go on the
- 6:42Speaker 1: internet find people that know more than me about fabric
- 6:44Speaker 1: and science, and I picked up the phone and I
- 6:46Speaker 1: call them and I would ask a bunch of questions.
- 6:50Speaker 1: I didn't really know a lot of the words they
- 6:51Speaker 1: were saying because I didn't know fabric science. So I
- 6:54Speaker 1: was write down the words. I'd get off the phone,
- 6:56Speaker 1: I'd research the words, and my next phone call I
- 6:58Speaker 1: found a little more intelligent and dot dot fast forward.
- 7:02Speaker 1: I Yeah, applied for the fabric patent last May, like
- 7:06Speaker 1: a year and a half ago, and it's patent pending
- 7:09Speaker 1: in a hundred and twenty countries right now. I've had
- 7:11Speaker 1: some companies already approached me UM interested in using my fabric,
- 7:15Speaker 1: licensing it from me, And at this point I've declined
- 7:19Speaker 1: UM for for various reasons. I'm really focused on the
- 7:21Speaker 1: apparel right now. However, if if if a certain company
- 7:25Speaker 1: or two approaches me that I'm interested in, I'll be
- 7:27Speaker 1: on the next plain tomorrow I'll tell me them. So, uh,
- 7:30Speaker 1: just trying to you know, build a brand over here
- 7:32Speaker 1: and not get to derailed because as a startup you
- 7:34Speaker 1: can only do so much, you know, every day. Um, yeah,
- 7:38Speaker 1: the fabric's patent pending. Uh right now, we just launched
- 7:41Speaker 1: men's as you know May twenty four that Houston has
- 7:44Speaker 1: just been extremely supportive of not only me and just
- 7:48Speaker 1: Excel Lifestyle, but just uh I love to get back
- 7:51Speaker 1: to the city of Houston as well. So that was
- 7:53Speaker 1: really cool that they proclaimed Megan Ettings Day the same
- 7:56Speaker 1: day that we launched Excel Lifestyle because of just my
- 7:59Speaker 1: commitment to get thing back to the city. And then yeah,
- 8:02Speaker 1: l A, I know you mentioned that that I go
- 8:04Speaker 1: out there. I go out there probably once a month. Now.
- 8:06Speaker 1: That's actually where my factory is that makes my clothes.
- 8:08Speaker 1: So the fabrics made in North Carolina and then it
- 8:11Speaker 1: shipped to l A which is where they make the clothes,
- 8:14Speaker 1: and then the closer shipped here to Houston. They thought
- 8:20Speaker 1: We're gonna be back with more. She just a lot
- 8:23Speaker 1: to say, We'll we're back talking man, making any about
- 8:30Speaker 1: her clothing line that she launched and making fool we
- 8:34Speaker 1: get started. I wanna read some testimonials from people who
- 8:38Speaker 1: are because they only on your mailing this and I
- 8:40Speaker 1: got this a great email that said, uh, but you
- 8:43Speaker 1: didn't hear from us. It was like people who have
- 8:45Speaker 1: responded back and said one was from Ryan on July
- 8:48Speaker 1: twenty six, so these are very current. My shirt looks
- 8:51Speaker 1: and feels great. Hit my first workout at Equinox and
- 8:54Speaker 1: it was incredible. Seriously, don't smell at all. I even
- 8:57Speaker 1: smelt it later and was just sitting in my bag
- 8:59Speaker 1: and it didn't smell one bit. As one says, no
- 9:01Speaker 1: stink insanely saw from Clark, not gonna lie. Feels dope
- 9:05Speaker 1: just wearing it. It feels really good and ultra premier
- 9:09Speaker 1: love how love how thin it is too. I truly
- 9:13Speaker 1: love them, really comfortable, edgy, and I feel good wearing them.
- 9:17Speaker 1: Lighter weight than any more any other workout shirt that
- 9:20Speaker 1: I have, just a concentrator. I was in austin the
- 9:23Speaker 1: past three days and my Russia packing only two two
- 9:26Speaker 1: shirts one button up and then sell t shirt. The
- 9:28Speaker 1: button up was done after the first day, so I
- 9:31Speaker 1: have to wear they sell the next two days and
- 9:35Speaker 1: it and it's saved him. Make it. It saved him.
- 9:37Speaker 1: So when you read testimonies like this, how do you
- 9:39Speaker 1: feel a young lady? Makes me feel amazing? Happy to
- 9:44Speaker 1: know it's love it? And now what's the next goal?
- 9:47Speaker 1: What's what's the ultimate goal? Like we talked about you know,
- 9:50Speaker 1: you know, it's really interesting when you have dreams because
- 9:53Speaker 1: there's work that you're doing to get to the dream.
- 9:56Speaker 1: Then there's work that you have to do to make
- 9:59Speaker 1: the dream function. And you're in that stage of making
- 10:01Speaker 1: it function. How has that changed your life? Oh? Wow,
- 10:05Speaker 1: it makes me basically changed my life because I know
- 10:08Speaker 1: that anything is possible, you just gotta stick with it.
- 10:11Speaker 1: I never thought I'd be an entrepreneur, and and here
- 10:13Speaker 1: I am, and I have worldwide goals to be a
- 10:16Speaker 1: full line sitness, apparel, health and wellness positive company across
- 10:20Speaker 1: the globe, starting here in Houston, United States, and then
- 10:23Speaker 1: expanding from there. You know, it's really interesting and hearing
- 10:25Speaker 1: your tone, I'm not saying I'm an expert, but I
- 10:29Speaker 1: I hear a different person on the phone right here,
- 10:33Speaker 1: which is a good thing. I have a person you know,
- 10:36Speaker 1: you're you're, you were, you were, you're communicating with me.
- 10:39Speaker 1: It's a confidence. It feels that you have a direction.
- 10:42Speaker 1: I'm not saying you didn't have direction in the past,
- 10:44Speaker 1: but it feels. It feels like I'm talking to a
- 10:47Speaker 1: person that's focused on on her dreams and making and
- 10:52Speaker 1: the dream is happening and it's really changing how you
- 10:54Speaker 1: look at things. Am I wrong? You're exactly right. Something
- 10:58Speaker 1: happened when that gatehead and we officially launched after working
- 11:03Speaker 1: on it for about two and a half three years.
- 11:05Speaker 1: There is something that changed in me because I thought, man,
- 11:08Speaker 1: all this work and now we're officially launched. So definitely
- 11:12Speaker 1: a kind of a calming feeling mixed with a confident feeling. Well,
- 11:17Speaker 1: let's say confident because of the fact that I'm gonna
- 11:20Speaker 1: just tell you this. The way you were speaking to
- 11:22Speaker 1: me is stronger, um and you know, and you're not humble,
- 11:28Speaker 1: and that's good. I always tell people in business, you
- 11:30Speaker 1: can't be humble. We're live in there, you know, we're
- 11:33Speaker 1: live in an era where you tell people how great
- 11:35Speaker 1: you are and be able to tell everybody your products
- 11:37Speaker 1: the best or nobody would buy it, and it defected.
- 11:41Speaker 1: I feel that. I remember I left IBM to do
- 11:43Speaker 1: stand up comedy and people doubted me. And so I
- 11:46Speaker 1: know when people when you start telling people about your
- 11:49Speaker 1: your apparel is no sting and people go what you're
- 11:51Speaker 1: talking about? And then when you actually get the product
- 11:54Speaker 1: in your hand, it really it really spoke truth to
- 11:57Speaker 1: what your dreams were and it really shut down. You know,
- 12:00Speaker 1: you're not gonna shot down every hater or every naysayer,
- 12:02Speaker 1: but it really put in perspective that what you want
- 12:05Speaker 1: to do with your life can be accomplished. Correct, correct,
- 12:09Speaker 1: correct now when you have now, when you when you
- 12:13Speaker 1: go through the process and you create these fabrics, you
- 12:15Speaker 1: invent these facts. Would you have done anything differently in
- 12:18Speaker 1: the in the in the creation process or the padding process. Wow,
- 12:23Speaker 1: excellent question. I've actually thought about that. Good question. What
- 12:26Speaker 1: I try to ask good questions. I try to ask
- 12:29Speaker 1: good questions. Okay, that's a good one. That threw me
- 12:32Speaker 1: for a loop. I can't think that I would have.
- 12:36Speaker 1: I definitely had some challenges the people that I started
- 12:39Speaker 1: working with early on on creating the fabric, and they
- 12:42Speaker 1: didn't work out, So I, well, why didn't what didn't
- 12:44Speaker 1: they work out? Why didn't they work or was it?
- 12:46Speaker 1: Was it? Because let's just just ask you a question.
- 12:48Speaker 1: Was it like a favor or I want to be
- 12:53Speaker 1: I had a factory that was making my sample fabric
- 12:55Speaker 1: and they threatened to sell my fabric and make a
- 12:58Speaker 1: profit off even though I owned to create. So that
- 13:01Speaker 1: was an interesting journey early on. I had to find
- 13:05Speaker 1: another factory to make the fabric. But all this learning,
- 13:07Speaker 1: you know, learning lessons, and when challenges happen, I just think, yeah,
- 13:11Speaker 1: I don't like it, but it's it's preparing me for
- 13:13Speaker 1: bigger challenges in the future, right And that's what I'm
- 13:16Speaker 1: just saying about the things that you would do different
- 13:18Speaker 1: because of the fact that I know that I've done
- 13:21Speaker 1: business deals with individuals, with companies and I went but
- 13:24Speaker 1: I should have asked for more, or I should have
- 13:26Speaker 1: asked for this this closet. They would have protected me
- 13:30Speaker 1: and I wouldn't have to be dealing with this headache
- 13:32Speaker 1: right now. And so you you're at the forefront. You
- 13:34Speaker 1: have a brand, you have a brand online right now
- 13:36Speaker 1: people reacting to it. What what could Rashaan do you know?
- 13:40Speaker 1: I do anything for you. You're an I'm a big
- 13:42Speaker 1: fan of yours, and I would you know. I've use
- 13:45Speaker 1: my resources definitely to post your your items just let
- 13:49Speaker 1: us know on my not only just on money making conversation.
- 13:51Speaker 1: I post your items on my personal fan which almost
- 13:54Speaker 1: has almost a million followers, because I just feel that
- 13:57Speaker 1: as an entrepreneur, you need to we have a relationship.
- 14:01Speaker 1: They believe in you. What is your support system right now? Oh?
- 14:05Speaker 1: And Rajon, thank you so much. You've been so supportive
- 14:08Speaker 1: since day one and I mentally appreciate that. Yeah, my
- 14:11Speaker 1: support system, I'm super blessed. Um. People genuinely want to help,
- 14:16Speaker 1: and it's been awesome with people, you know, people that
- 14:18Speaker 1: have a lot of connections or they have a skill
- 14:21Speaker 1: set and something that I need. So many people and
- 14:24Speaker 1: especially advisors, they become mentors and they just they just
- 14:27Speaker 1: really want to help see me and my team succeed.
- 14:30Speaker 1: And whenever I succeed, we all succeed. I mean it's
- 14:32Speaker 1: all a team effort for sure. Cool. Now, listen, you've
- 14:35Speaker 1: heard first of all, I don't want to butcher your process.
- 14:38Speaker 1: I've introded, So tell her about exactly about your brand,
- 14:42Speaker 1: uh and and what what's available and how they can
- 14:45Speaker 1: reach you online or social media. Perfect, yeah, yeah, thank you.
- 14:51Speaker 1: So we're in ethical fitness apparel brand. So ethical means
- 14:53Speaker 1: no sweatshops to accomplish that everything is sourced and need
- 14:57Speaker 1: all the yarns, the fabric, the clothes. He in the
- 15:00Speaker 1: United States. Um, so I can personally go visit all
- 15:03Speaker 1: the factories and make sure that people are paid and
- 15:05Speaker 1: treated fairly. And then I invented the anti stink fabric.
- 15:08Speaker 1: So we're starting with shirts right now for men and women.
- 15:11Speaker 1: Men can get either a tank top or a T
- 15:13Speaker 1: shirt to various graphics on the front. Women women were
- 15:16Speaker 1: actually launching in the next couple of weeks. Uh, there'll
- 15:19Speaker 1: be four different styles for women's all like tank tops,
- 15:21Speaker 1: crop tops, really fashionable, super light thought. Uh, anti stink fabric.
- 15:27Speaker 1: And then in the future we're wanting to get into
- 15:28Speaker 1: pants and sports bras and just a whole fitness of
- 15:31Speaker 1: powerlel line. You know, anti stink socks, golf shirts, et cetera.
- 15:38Speaker 1: You now, now you stay in the future. Let's talk
- 15:41Speaker 1: about the launch of the women's line. I have a wife, Yeah,
- 15:44Speaker 1: you know, I gotta go back online. She she likes
- 15:47Speaker 1: what I'm wearing I totally what you weren't ready yet?
- 15:50Speaker 1: So is there official date yet for her? Not an
- 15:55Speaker 1: official date. There's a couple of styles on our website,
- 15:57Speaker 1: Excel Lifestyle right now for pre sale. It's going to
- 16:00Speaker 1: be within the next two weeks. I'm working with pr
- 16:03Speaker 1: company right now to see what date would be the
- 16:05Speaker 1: best to launch. But it will be about within two
- 16:07Speaker 1: weeks for sure. Okay, can you do me this favor?
- 16:10Speaker 1: Because she said she's just forget about Rashaan. Rashan made
- 16:13Speaker 1: the big old speech about how he helped her out
- 16:15Speaker 1: and promoting stuff, and it it'd be launched like she
- 16:17Speaker 1: launched the last time. Didn't come to me? Did you
