Transcript
- 0:00Speaker 1: Direct from Hollywood with Ryan Seacrest. It was twenty five
- 0:04Speaker 1: years ago that Atlantis Moore Set released her defiant and
- 0:06Speaker 1: culture shifting album Jagged Little Pill, a project that literally
- 0:09Speaker 1: changed the face of pop music, especially sung by a
- 0:11Speaker 1: female artist, and you ought to know, one of the
- 0:13Speaker 1: biggest hits ever. It was an anthem, It was raw,
- 0:16Speaker 1: it was powerful, it was something unique, something different, coming
- 0:19Speaker 1: from a woman in pop music. Not many people did
- 0:22Speaker 1: that before Atlantis Moore Set. She's reflected on its release
- 0:25Speaker 1: and an essay for The Hollywood Reporter where she writes,
- 0:27Speaker 1: in part, if some people were afraid of their own anger.
- 0:31Speaker 1: There I was on stage emoting mind and having no
- 0:33Speaker 1: apologies about it. Anger is so empowering for me. I
- 0:36Speaker 1: was giving myself permission to not redirect physical anger, depression
- 0:39Speaker 1: and sadness that were told not to feel, especially women.
- 0:43Speaker 1: But we're built to feel them, so you either implode
- 0:45Speaker 1: or explode. When I write songs there for me, when
- 0:48Speaker 1: I share them, it's an offering the words of Atlantis
- 0:51Speaker 1: Moore Set. The brand new musical Jagged Little Pill, based
- 0:53Speaker 1: around the music of the album and written my Oscar
- 0:55Speaker 1: winning scribe Diablo Cody, is on Broadway now direct from
