- 0:01Speaker 1: He ain't going anywhere. That is the word that we
- 0:04Speaker 1: are getting this morning about the President of the United
- 0:07Speaker 1: States of America making it very clear that he is
- 0:11Speaker 1: not dropping out of the race. Here is what Simone
- 0:15Speaker 1: Sanders is saying about all of this and the concerns
- 0:19Speaker 1: they now have.
- 0:21Speaker 2: Simone Sanders, what are you hearing?
- 0:23Speaker 3: Look what I'm hearing from? Well, it depends on who
- 0:26Speaker 3: we're talking to make it to be honest, when you
- 0:28Speaker 3: talk to strategists and operatives, not folks that work for
- 0:33Speaker 3: the Biden campaign or in the White House, but outside
- 0:35Speaker 3: of that elected officials, right the political professionals, donors, they
- 0:39Speaker 3: are echoing some of the same things that Eugene has
- 0:43Speaker 3: noted in his piece that we're all hearing that they
- 0:46Speaker 3: are concerned, that they want to hear more from the
- 0:48Speaker 3: White House, that they want to see the president do
- 0:50Speaker 3: a town hall, do more interviews, they want to see
- 0:53Speaker 3: him more. But then when I talk to non political professionals,
- 0:56Speaker 3: if you will, as I like to say, every day,
- 0:58Speaker 3: regular folks who don't do this every day, they look
- 1:01Speaker 3: at this and say, in Melissa MraY and I talked
- 1:05Speaker 3: to black women in Montgomery County just this weekend on Sunday,
- 1:08Speaker 3: and they all said, I asked, we asked him about
- 1:10Speaker 3: the debate. They said the debate, they it wasn't good
- 1:13Speaker 3: for Trump or Joe Biden. But the women who were
- 1:17Speaker 3: supportive of the president in that room said, look at
- 1:20Speaker 3: this point, we can't get anyone else. There was someone
- 1:22Speaker 3: that noted, we should stand by our guy. There was
- 1:26Speaker 3: someone else that noted, how realistic is this talk of
- 1:29Speaker 3: removing him? And they were more concerned with the broader picture.
- 1:35Speaker 3: And they also, unprompted, brought up democracy and the Supreme Court.
- 1:38Speaker 3: So I would just argue that the best way for
- 1:40Speaker 3: the Biden campaign to really they won't be able to
- 1:44Speaker 3: stop the talk because the chatter is going to continue,
- 1:46Speaker 3: because every single thing that the president does between now
- 1:48Speaker 3: and November is going to be parsed every single which way.
- 1:51Speaker 3: If he if he stumbles walking, if he walks a
- 1:54Speaker 3: little too slow, if he walks a little too fast,
- 1:56Speaker 3: you know, if he forgets a word, every single thing
- 1:58Speaker 3: is going to be a view through the prison of
- 2:00Speaker 3: what happened on that debate stage. So the chatter will
- 2:02Speaker 3: not end. But I think a way to really blunt
- 2:05Speaker 3: some of the criticism is in fact too you know,
- 2:09Speaker 3: let the president put the president out there in various
- 2:12Speaker 3: ways in which that you know he will shine. And again,
- 2:15Speaker 3: I think town halls, doing things with voters, real people,
- 2:17Speaker 3: where he is answering questions from regular folks, will make
- 2:20Speaker 3: the difference. And I do think the President could right
- 2:24Speaker 3: to that occasion. And I will just lastly say that
- 2:27Speaker 3: I think we have all heard chatter inside. And I
- 2:31Speaker 3: was struck by that Washington Post reporting about concerns that
- 2:35Speaker 3: folks said that they had about the president's health. The
- 2:38Speaker 3: last time I saw the president, he seemed and looked
- 2:40Speaker 3: fine to me. But yes, on that debate stage, it
- 2:42Speaker 3: was not a good performance. And so the only way
- 2:46Speaker 3: to assuage people's concerns is to let them see for themselves.
- 2:49Speaker 3: And Joe Biden, I believe, thinks that he is his
- 2:52Speaker 3: best political consultant. And I'm interested to see what the
- 2:55Speaker 3: President decides to do this week.
- 2:58Speaker 4: Wow.
- 2:59Speaker 1: So now, if you are talking about the president's health,
- 3:03Speaker 1: it's more that you are quote concerned, You just have concerns.
- 3:07Speaker 1: You are concerned, You're very concerned. It's not about the country,
- 3:12Speaker 1: it's about him personally. That's how they're spinning this now.
- 3:16Speaker 1: Simone Sanders who, by the way, used to work for
- 3:18Speaker 1: this president in this White House and the first lady.
- 3:23Speaker 1: I think it's pretty obvious from what she just said
- 3:26Speaker 1: there she is not that concerned with the president. She's
- 3:31Speaker 1: ready for him to move on. Let me say that again.
- 3:35Speaker 1: She's ready for him to move on. She's ready to say,
- 3:40Speaker 1: let's go to the next thing, whatever that next thing is.
- 3:43Speaker 1: She's ready to go to that next thing. This is
- 3:50Speaker 1: not shocking, I want to be clear about that. But
- 3:54Speaker 1: the way that she articulated it, I also think is
- 3:57Speaker 1: important because they're not giving in yet to replacing Joe Biden.
- 4:04Speaker 1: They're not rallying behind Joe Biden the way that she
- 4:08Speaker 1: just described it. And I think that's a pretty obvious
- 4:10Speaker 1: point that that she's making, like, Hey, I'm I'm not
- 4:13Speaker 1: I'm not giving in here to trying to force him
- 4:17Speaker 1: out the door. They understand how big of a liability
- 4:22Speaker 1: he is, and they understand not just what a liability
- 4:29Speaker 1: that he is, but I think they also understand that
- 4:34Speaker 1: this is a moment where they can't just say, Okay,
- 4:38Speaker 1: he's gonna stay, so we're gonna accept it. We've got
- 4:41Speaker 1: to figure out some sort of Jedi mind trick to
- 4:44Speaker 1: convince him, We're just concerned about your health. Like it's
- 4:48Speaker 1: really just your health. That's all it is. It is
- 4:52Speaker 1: just your health. We're just worried, We're just concerned. We
- 4:57Speaker 1: just want you to be healthy. We're just trying. I mean,
- 5:00Speaker 1: I mean the rhetoric there was next level pr and
- 5:05Speaker 1: and if you are the president, units it's America and
- 5:08Speaker 1: you're watching this happened in real time, I would think
- 5:13Speaker 1: you would feel very much like you are under attack.
- 5:18Speaker 1: There was a Washington Post op ed by Eugene Robinson
- 5:22Speaker 1: and it was entitled This Morning, Biden's twenty twenty four
- 5:26Speaker 1: survival requires a lot more than hope. Now, they always
- 5:30Speaker 1: go back to motions of hope and change, right, Like
- 5:32Speaker 1: that's how Democrats now get elected. They don't actually tell
- 5:35Speaker 1: you they're going to do anything specifically. They just give
- 5:37Speaker 1: you these Kumbaya moments. I want you to listen to
- 5:40Speaker 1: Eugene Robinson and what he said on MSNBC about the president.
- 5:44Speaker 1: His assessment after writing this op ed for the Washington
- 5:47Speaker 1: Post that Biden's twenty twenty four survival requires a lot
- 5:51Speaker 1: more than just hope.
- 5:54Speaker 4: Well, look, I think he needs to do everything he
- 5:57Speaker 4: can to reverse the the impression, the clear impression that
- 6:02Speaker 4: was that was left by that debate five days ago,
- 6:05Speaker 4: that debate on Thursday. Because you know, I have I've
- 6:10Speaker 4: been coming on the show for a long time. I
- 6:12Speaker 4: am a longtime critic of Democratic bed wedding. I don't
- 6:18Speaker 4: you know, I think it's it's crazy A lot of
- 6:22Speaker 4: the time. I think this is different. I think a
- 6:26Speaker 4: lot of Democrats were shocked by what they saw Thursday night,
- 6:31Speaker 4: and I think this this sort of hunkering down and saying,
- 6:36Speaker 4: you know, nothing to say, nothing to see here. You know,
- 6:40Speaker 4: the polling is unchanged. They set out that memo over
- 6:44Speaker 4: the over the weekend saying the polling is unchanged. So
- 6:47Speaker 4: it didn't really hurt us, but that's internal polling focusing
- 6:51Speaker 4: on the swing states that actually shows him trailing Donald
- 6:57Speaker 4: Trump by a slight margin, uh you know, within the
- 7:01Speaker 4: margin of error. But nonetheless it shows him behind Trump
- 7:04Speaker 4: in these states. And so sending out a memo saying, look,
- 7:09Speaker 4: we're still behind, but we're not behind any worse is
- 7:13Speaker 4: not exactly the best ad for for your campaign. And
- 7:18Speaker 4: so why, you know, why isn't he calling Schumer and
- 7:22Speaker 4: Jeffries and why isn't he doing some sort of unscripted
- 7:29Speaker 4: appearance that shows that that erases the oppression that was
- 7:35Speaker 4: very clearly left Thursday night. I think this is this
- 7:39Speaker 4: is potentially a really big problem for the Democratic Party,
- 7:44Speaker 4: for Biden's reelection campaign. And I think, you know, I
- 7:48Speaker 4: think Democrats are our right to send up the alarm.
- 7:52Speaker 1: I think Democrats are right to send the arm. This
- 7:55Speaker 1: is again nine one one. This is a nine to
- 7:58Speaker 1: one one plea, as it was described by him, You've
- 8:02Speaker 1: got to do things differently to assure people you're okay.
- 8:05Speaker 1: You're not doing any of them, probably because you're incapable
- 8:08Speaker 1: or incapacitated from doing it. And so that's on you, right, Like,
- 8:15Speaker 1: that's straight up on you. I'm sorry. I look at
- 8:19Speaker 1: this and hear what he's saying, and looking at the
- 8:24Speaker 1: White House, there is a civil war that is not brewing.
- 8:29Speaker 1: It is an all out war now, all out war
- 8:33Speaker 1: between the Democratic Party. Many of those are running for
- 8:37Speaker 1: election right now are very very very very very concerned
- 8:41Speaker 1: that he is going to drag down the ticket. Now
- 8:43Speaker 1: they're going to point to that polling that was just mentioned. Wow,
- 8:45Speaker 1: the polls are unchanged. Look, I'm actually not surprised that
- 8:49Speaker 1: the polls are changed because even if you hate even
- 8:54Speaker 1: if you hate Donald Trump and you can't stand what
- 8:59Speaker 1: Joe Biden did the other night, I am still not
- 9:03Speaker 1: sure that you're going to change your vote if you
- 9:07Speaker 1: think that he is a total disaster, okay, like like
- 9:12Speaker 1: a complete and utter disaster. Are you going to switch
- 9:17Speaker 1: your vote to Donald Trump? I don't think you are.
- 9:21Speaker 1: We are a tribal country right now. You're a Democrat
- 9:25Speaker 1: or you're a Republican. There's really no in between. You're
- 9:27Speaker 1: one and or the other. There is no in between.
- 9:31Speaker 1: I said a moment ago that we are tribal, right,
- 9:33Speaker 1: we are just so tribal, and we are. We are
- 9:36Speaker 1: incredibly tribal. And and that means if you're a Democrat,
- 9:39Speaker 1: damn it, you're a Democrat. If you're a Republican, you're
- 9:41Speaker 1: a Republican. And there's no in between. You're not going anywhere.
- 9:45Speaker 1: And even if your guy sucks, you're probably gonna stick
- 9:47Speaker 1: with him or just not show up and vote. That's
- 9:49Speaker 1: that's how they're looking at this. Okay, let me just
- 9:54Speaker 1: describe this for you so you understand. And I think
- 9:58Speaker 1: this is an important point to me here. You look
- 10:01Speaker 1: at the new polling number that's out. There's a new
- 10:04Speaker 1: poll that came out says six and ten Americans who
- 10:08Speaker 1: wants the debate quote don't think Biden can complete another term.
- 10:13Speaker 1: I don't think. I can't believe that number isn't ten
- 10:16Speaker 1: out of ten. I mean four years from now, you
- 10:20Speaker 1: really think that guy and I'm not I don't mean
- 10:22Speaker 1: this mean, I'm just being honest. Is gonna be around mentally?
- 10:27Speaker 1: Let's say it's around. Let's say's it alive like the
- 10:29Speaker 1: heart's beating. I don't want I don't wish anyone ill will,
- 10:32Speaker 1: but you can't tell me based on his cognitive decline
- 10:35Speaker 1: that he's going to be around mentally. A survey released
- 10:39Speaker 1: by Democratic pollsters BSG and It's provided to Salon found
- 10:44Speaker 1: that people who watched last week's debate thought Donald Trump
- 10:47Speaker 1: de better than President Joe Biden by more than a
- 10:49Speaker 1: two to one margin, with six and ten responding saying
- 10:53Speaker 1: they don't think the incumbent is likely to finish a
- 10:55Speaker 1: second four year term in office, but like it. By
- 10:58Speaker 1: the way, there's no away in the private sector that
- 11:02Speaker 1: I heart would allow me to do a show if
- 11:04Speaker 1: I sounded like Joe Biden. The president the other night.
- 11:07Speaker 1: There are checks and balances in the real world. Like
- 11:10Speaker 1: if you looked and sounded like Joe Biden the other
- 11:12Speaker 1: night in your job in the private sector, no one
- 11:15Speaker 1: would keep a job. You would be fired. So why
- 11:19Speaker 1: isn't Joe Biden getting fired by his own party? Because
- 11:22Speaker 1: the Democratic Party is psycho And that's why you still
- 11:26Speaker 1: have six and ten right who say that means four
- 11:29Speaker 1: out of ten are saying no, no, no, I think
- 11:31Speaker 1: Joe Biden, we find I'll be able to finish the
- 11:33Speaker 1: next job. Like no one in the private sector could
- 11:35Speaker 1: ever get away with how bad he is doing the
- 11:40Speaker 1: job right now, much less four years from now. That's
- 11:44Speaker 1: part of the problem, same thing we talked about yesterday
- 11:46Speaker 1: with the Wanda Halbert. Like in the private sector, we
- 11:49Speaker 1: wouldn't have been having the conversation we're having right now
- 11:51Speaker 1: about getting rid of her and her capacity, that she
- 11:54Speaker 1: sucks her job so bad that they're the state's having
- 11:57Speaker 1: to step in and now lawyer's having to step in.
- 11:59Speaker 1: But when you have worked in a government job, you
- 12:01Speaker 1: can get away with this crap. That's why some many
- 12:03Speaker 1: people love working in the government. There's like zero accountability.
- 12:06Speaker 1: It's virtually impossible to get rid of you, and being
- 12:09Speaker 1: an elected official, you can keep a job far outside
- 12:12Speaker 1: of the time that you're useful. This is why I
- 12:15Speaker 1: refer to so many politicians as useful idiots. Now, the
- 12:19Speaker 1: poll found viewers of the debate evenly split the two
- 12:22Speaker 1: candates in the event of an election. See this is
- 12:25Speaker 1: where I go back to what I said, We've got
- 12:27Speaker 1: psychos that are tribal, that aren't going to put the
- 12:29Speaker 1: country first. A majority of the five hundred and nine
- 12:31Speaker 1: People's survey said they found the rematch frightening fifty six
- 12:35Speaker 1: percent and sixty three percent referred to it as depressing.
- 12:42Speaker 1: Some of the forty one percent of the respondents said
- 12:45Speaker 1: the debate made them less likely to vote for Biden.
- 12:48Speaker 1: Just thirty percent said that for Trump, so eleven percent
- 12:52Speaker 1: difference there. In other words, you can lose an election
- 12:55Speaker 1: by your own team not showing up. Okay, say again,
- 13:01Speaker 1: you can lose all right, you can't. You can lose
- 13:06Speaker 1: an election by your own team not showing up to
- 13:09Speaker 1: vote for you. And I think that's very much now
- 13:12Speaker 1: where Joe Biden has got to convince Democrats. No, no,
- 13:15Speaker 1: at the end of the day, they hate Donald Trump,
- 13:17Speaker 1: so much that they are going to show up represented.
- 13:22Speaker 1: Mike Quinley just went on CNN a moment ago, and
- 13:27Speaker 1: it says under the on the bottom, it says debate fallout.
- 13:30Speaker 1: Biden campaign tries to reassure Democrats they're not going anywhere.
- 13:34Speaker 1: Listen to congressman quickly and what he said, he's a
- 13:37Speaker 1: congressman out of Chicago.
- 13:40Speaker 5: Is President Biden's scotta, says the person at the top
- 13:44Speaker 5: of the ticket endangering Democratic hopes of keeping or regaining
- 13:49Speaker 5: control of congresspending on the respective chamber.
- 13:53Speaker 6: Let me put it in this perspective. If I were
- 13:56Speaker 6: to talk to the President today, I would advise him
- 13:58Speaker 6: that the decision he has to make now is clearly
- 14:01Speaker 6: only his. And as much as I greatly respect him
- 14:05Speaker 6: and appreciate the extraordinary job, I think his four years
- 14:10Speaker 6: are one of the great presidencies of our lifetime. But
- 14:15Speaker 6: I think he has to be honest with himself.
- 14:17Speaker 4: This is a.
- 14:18Speaker 6: Decision he's going to have to make. He clearly has
- 14:21Speaker 6: to understand. I think what you're getting to here is
- 14:24Speaker 6: that his decision not only impacts who's going to serve
- 14:28Speaker 6: in the White House the next four years, but who's
- 14:31Speaker 6: going to serve in the Senate, who's going to serve
- 14:33Speaker 6: in the House, and it will have implications for decades
- 14:36Speaker 6: to come.
- 14:38Speaker 5: It sounds like you're actually open to the idea that
- 14:41Speaker 5: it might be the right decision for him to step aside.
- 14:45Speaker 6: I think what I'm stressing is it has to be
- 14:48Speaker 6: his decision, but we have to be honest with ourselves
- 14:51Speaker 6: that it wasn't just a horrible night. But I won't
- 14:54Speaker 6: go beyond that out of my respect and understanding President
- 14:59Speaker 6: Joe Biah, I'm very proud person who has served us
- 15:02Speaker 6: extraordinarily well for fifty years. But it's his decision. I
- 15:07Speaker 6: just want him to appreciate at this time just how
- 15:10Speaker 6: much it impacts not just his race, but at all
- 15:13Speaker 6: the other races coming in November.
- 15:16Speaker 1: All Right, So there you have it. The congressman there,
- 15:19Speaker 1: Biden has to be honest with himself. He has to
- 15:21Speaker 1: understand it wasn't just a horrible night. Okay, wasn't just
- 15:25Speaker 1: a horrible night. It was a disaster. Guys. I'm not
- 15:30Speaker 1: gonna lie to you. I have never seen something so
- 15:33Speaker 1: orchestrated in my entire life by the Democratic Party. This morning,
- 15:38Speaker 1: they are on every ounce of TV, and it is
- 15:42Speaker 1: one interview after another after another after another, calling an
- 15:47Speaker 1: essence for Joe Biden to step down. Joe Biden, step down,
- 15:49Speaker 1: Joe Biden's step down, like they are putting on a
- 15:52Speaker 1: full court press after the Biden family comes out and
- 15:55Speaker 1: is blaming his advisors for the debate debacle and not
- 16:01Speaker 1: saying that he's incapacitated. Democratic Senator white House just went
- 16:05Speaker 1: on CNN, I'm going to play this for you, but
- 16:07Speaker 1: he said he's quote horrified they're upping their rhetoric. Now
- 16:11Speaker 1: horrified by the debate. He is quote urging Biden's team
- 16:15Speaker 1: to be candid about the president and the presidency. Listen.
- 16:20Speaker 7: Twelve News is your local election headquarters with exclusive local
- 16:24Speaker 7: reaction to President Biden's disastrous debate. Biden and his aias
- 16:28Speaker 7: have spent recent days working furiously to calm down panic
- 16:31Speaker 7: Democrats and insisting the president will not bow out of
- 16:34Speaker 7: the race. Twelve Views Politics.
- 16:36Speaker 8: Senator Tedniese caught off with two top Rhode Island Democrats
- 16:40Speaker 8: on Monday to ask what they think should happen next.
- 16:44Speaker 9: Senator Sheldon Whitehouse and Congressman gave Amo. Don't dispute that
- 16:47Speaker 9: Thursday was a bad night for Democrats, but for now,
- 16:50Speaker 9: they're still standing behind President Biden in his bid for reelection.
- 16:56Speaker 2: If we finally beat Medicare.
- 16:59Speaker 9: Tens of millions of Americans watched Thursday night as President
- 17:02Speaker 9: Biden struggled through the first televised presidential debate, sending shockwaves
- 17:06Speaker 9: through the Democratic Party. A CBS News pull over the
- 17:09Speaker 9: weekend showed the share of voters who think Biden does
- 17:11Speaker 9: not have the mental and cognitive health to serve as
- 17:14Speaker 9: president jumped from sixty five percent to seventy two percent.
- 17:18Speaker 9: Your honest reaction to the debate.
- 17:20Speaker 10: I think, like a lot of people, I was pretty horrified.
- 17:23Speaker 9: Rhode Island US Senator Sheldon Whitehouse tells twelve News Democrats
- 17:26Speaker 9: remain united about the need to defeat former President Donald Trump,
- 17:30Speaker 9: but they're looking for reassurance from Biden and his team.
- 17:32Speaker 10: Well. I think people want to make sure that this
- 17:34Speaker 10: is a campaign that's ready to go and win, that
- 17:37Speaker 10: the president and his team are being candid with us
- 17:40Speaker 10: about his condition, that this was a real anomaly and
- 17:44Speaker 10: not just the way he.
- 17:45Speaker 11: Is these days. I was disappointed, like a lot of
- 17:49Speaker 11: other people, but I have to keep working.
- 17:51Speaker 9: Congressman Gabamo used to work in the Biden administration. He
- 17:54Speaker 9: spent this past weekend campaigning for the president in New Hampshire.
- 17:57Speaker 11: I think people are a genuine concern and that's okay.
- 18:02Speaker 11: We should be honest with people, we should be transparent
- 18:06Speaker 11: with people. But at the same time, everybody knows how
- 18:09Speaker 11: high the stakes.
- 18:10Speaker 9: Are beyond the campaign. The debate also raised questions about
- 18:13Speaker 9: Biden's ability to serve as president. Now, were you taken
- 18:16Speaker 9: Aback as someone who gets to see him up close
- 18:18Speaker 9: once in a while, and like most.
- 18:19Speaker 10: Of us, yeah, I've never seen that happen before.
- 18:22Speaker 9: So this was not how you guys all knew. Behind
- 18:24Speaker 9: the scenes, He's like.
- 18:25Speaker 7: This, no, no, no, of that.
- 18:27Speaker 4: This was a surprise.
- 18:29Speaker 9: Locally, there have been scattered calls for Biden to drop
- 18:32Speaker 9: out from people like former congressional candidate Aaron Regenberg and
- 18:35Speaker 9: Providence City councilor Justin Royes, but most in the party
- 18:39Speaker 9: are only discussing their concerns privately. Ted NACI twelve News, I.
- 18:43Speaker 1: Mean this is on the local news. Listen to the
- 18:46Speaker 1: very first line from this local news. Okay, I'm going
- 18:49Speaker 1: to go back to it. Just listen before they give you.
- 18:51Speaker 1: Senator Sheldon Whitehouse acknowledging that this was a quote I
- 18:57Speaker 1: think a lot of people. I think like a lot
- 19:01Speaker 1: of people. I was pretty horrified by the debate. But
- 19:03Speaker 1: listen to how the local news described the debate.
- 19:06Speaker 7: Twelve News is your local election headquarters with exclusive local
- 19:09Speaker 7: reaction to President Biden's disastrous debate.
- 19:13Speaker 1: Disastrous debate. Now, if the local news is reporting it
- 19:18Speaker 1: this way, and this is a local ABC news station,
- 19:22Speaker 1: you don't think that's coming from the top down where
- 19:24Speaker 1: they're saying, yeah, let's go all in to really try
- 19:28Speaker 1: to push this guy out. Even on MSNBC this morning,
- 19:33Speaker 1: sam Stein, Democrat was on there and Merca whatever the
- 19:38Speaker 1: hell her name is the other hosts, you know, the
- 19:41Speaker 1: chick that's on there. She had an audible sigh after
- 19:46Speaker 1: he floated Kamala Harris replacing Joe Biden. They don't want
- 19:50Speaker 1: her either, And this was on air.
- 19:53Speaker 2: Listen, Okay, And so then we go, sam Stein to
- 19:57Speaker 2: let's take Richard's concept, which I completely disagree with, to
- 20:04Speaker 2: let's hash it out like exactly. Then what happens. We
- 20:09Speaker 2: go with someone completely untested, completely inexperienced, because they seem cool,
- 20:14Speaker 2: because they're younger, because they have less experience.
- 20:18Speaker 8: Like, what does that look like?
- 20:20Speaker 2: I'm just not willing to walk away from someone who
- 20:23Speaker 2: has worked this hard and has performed this well and
- 20:26Speaker 2: gotten this much done on every level, more than any
- 20:31Speaker 2: president before him, including the ones Richard hass worked for.
- 20:35Speaker 12: Right. Well, there is a sort of semi middle ground here, right,
- 20:39Speaker 12: which is Kamala Harris. She's been vetted, she's the vice president.
- 20:44Speaker 12: She would inherit the campaign and infrastructure. She would inherit
- 20:46Speaker 12: the money, whereas anyone else in this hypothetically nurse could not.
- 20:51Speaker 12: She would be the logical person to take on the mantle.
- 20:55Speaker 12: And on top of that, she has some experience debating
- 21:01Speaker 12: Republicans at this level, including making the case against dal Trump. Right,
- 21:04Speaker 12: that would be the logical extension here. I agree with
- 21:07Speaker 12: you the other ones they are untested, with a big
- 21:10Speaker 12: side there on on air. A lot of the other
- 21:12Speaker 12: ones are untested, and that would be problematic in its
- 21:15Speaker 12: own rights. But look, I think this ultimately comes back
- 21:17Speaker 12: to Biden and Richard's points valid, which is Joe Biden
- 21:21Speaker 12: was the one who said to the standard himself, right,
- 21:22Speaker 12: every time that there was questions about at the agent vitality,
- 21:25Speaker 12: his response was, watch me right. That was his response.
- 21:30Speaker 12: We watched him on Thursday night. I think we around
- 21:33Speaker 12: the table agree he did not pass the test that
- 21:35Speaker 12: he set himself. I will say this, there is some
- 21:38Speaker 12: indication of what it would you.
- 21:39Speaker 1: Know, take I love this she I mean audible sigh
- 21:44Speaker 1: on the air like Kamala Harris. Are you kidding me?
- 21:48Speaker 1: You want to go with Kamala Harris? Kamala Harris, give
- 21:53Speaker 1: me a break, Scott Fitzgerald this morning. The question I
- 21:57Speaker 1: get from constituents is who's in charge now at the
- 22:00Speaker 1: White House? Listen.
- 22:02Speaker 13: So there's two There's two lines here that I'm asking about.
- 22:04Speaker 13: First Off, Biden clearly is saying he's not getting out
- 22:07Speaker 13: of the race. And then a Republican is telling Fox's digital, hey,
- 22:11Speaker 13: be careful, Republicans. You want Biden to stay in the
- 22:14Speaker 13: race because he's weak and he'll be beaten in November.
- 22:18Speaker 4: Right.
- 22:19Speaker 14: One is that I'm not the first sort to make
- 22:20Speaker 14: this point. I think is that for them to switch
- 22:25Speaker 14: out Biden for some other option at this point would
- 22:28Speaker 14: admit to the American public that he's not up to
- 22:32Speaker 14: the job right now, and this world is way too
- 22:35Speaker 14: dangerous to have somebody in the White House in the
- 22:39Speaker 14: executive branch that isn't up to the task of running
- 22:42Speaker 14: this country right now. And I got to be honest
- 22:44Speaker 14: with you, and I'm in the district. I did a
- 22:46Speaker 14: lot of events this weekend. The one question I get
- 22:49Speaker 14: from constituents all the time is who is running the joint?
- 22:52Speaker 14: Who is in charge at the White House right now?
- 22:55Speaker 14: And I think before when Robert Klein was there, we
- 22:58Speaker 14: all knew the chief of staff was running the joint.
- 23:00Speaker 14: We have no idea what's going on over there right now,
- 23:03Speaker 14: and that should be make everyone uneasy. On the other front,
- 23:07Speaker 14: I think that you know, going into this convention in Chicago,
- 23:11Speaker 14: I think, quite honestly, there's still a lot of internal
- 23:14Speaker 14: discussions as to whether or not a very very weak
- 23:19Speaker 14: Joe Biden, which we're seeing in the polling already, is
- 23:22Speaker 14: going to drag down members of the House in these
- 23:25Speaker 14: marginal districts, and the US Senate would absolutely be lost
- 23:30Speaker 14: if things remade the same as they do today. That's
- 23:34Speaker 14: when you're going to see people pushing the panic button.
- 23:37Speaker 14: If they lose control of both the House and the Senate.
- 23:40Speaker 14: And then Donald Trump is the next president, we are
- 23:43Speaker 14: going to be able to fix his country, but not
- 23:46Speaker 14: the way the Democrats want to do it.
- 23:49Speaker 1: I mean, the question I got from the continguents is
- 23:51Speaker 1: who's in charge the White House?
- 23:52Speaker 4: Now?
- 23:53Speaker 1: I think that's the question everyone is asking. Biden twenty
- 23:58Speaker 1: campaign advisor trying to go back on offense and saying
- 24:04Speaker 1: that senior advisers saying President Biden is quote considering a
- 24:07Speaker 1: high profile interview to address the health concerns.
- 24:12Speaker 14: For more secure and let the public see what they
- 24:16Speaker 14: can see with their own eyes.
- 24:17Speaker 8: Do actually, I mean, you worked on on Biden's twenty
- 24:20Speaker 8: twenty campaign, you worked communications for Vice President Harris. The
- 24:23Speaker 8: difference between Biden and twenty twenty debates and this last
- 24:26Speaker 8: one is obvious. How can the president reassure people who
- 24:30Speaker 8: watched him with pain and fear on that debate stage.
- 24:33Speaker 15: I mean, I think he actually did it on Friday.
- 24:35Speaker 15: I think he actually doubled down on it tonight.
- 24:37Speaker 8: But here's the teleprompters.
- 24:40Speaker 15: No, absolutely they are. But you know he still looks
- 24:42Speaker 15: strong and with it even on those teleprompters. And you
- 24:45Speaker 15: know there are times in which many liketed officials, even
- 24:48Speaker 15: former President Trump, has not looked strong on a teleprompter.
- 24:51Speaker 9: But here's the thing.
- 24:52Speaker 4: That.
- 24:52Speaker 15: I think that is that's being lost, and I'd like
- 24:55Speaker 15: to go back to what Ax said, and that is
- 24:58Speaker 15: Trump also reinforced the negatives about him. You know, he
- 25:02Speaker 15: had none of the challenges that Joe Biden did, but
- 25:04Speaker 15: still also underperformed. He you know, he didn't raise nearly
- 25:08Speaker 15: as much money, six million dollars short of what Joe
- 25:11Speaker 15: Biden raised during the actual debate.
- 25:14Speaker 11: Joe Biden's raised.
- 25:15Speaker 15: Thirty three million dollars. Since that point. The push pulls
- 25:19Speaker 15: show that independence and new Nicky Hayley voters didn't like
- 25:24Speaker 15: his response to January sixth, didn't like the fact that
- 25:27Speaker 15: he lacked substance and lacked a vision. In addition to that,
- 25:31Speaker 15: you know, they also felt like they couldn't trust Donald Trump,
- 25:36Speaker 15: so he actually didn't do himself any favors either, And
- 25:39Speaker 15: I think that's a narrative that's also being lost in
- 25:43Speaker 15: all of this discussion about President Biden.
- 25:45Speaker 1: I love this, right, They're like, no, no, no, it's
- 25:47Speaker 1: really bad. Somehow Donald Trump had a bad night. Okay, sure,
- 25:50Speaker 1: you keep telling yourself that forty one percent of Democrats
- 25:55Speaker 1: say they do not want Joe Biden to continue on
- 25:58Speaker 1: all right, Fetterman, Remember that guy Fetterman, the guy that
- 26:02Speaker 1: was like completely incapacitated when he was running for the Senate.
- 26:06Speaker 1: Yet Democrats still put him into the Senate and now
- 26:08Speaker 1: he's actually gotten a lot better. He had that stroke. Yeah,
- 26:13Speaker 1: he was on CNN and was asked about Joe Biden,
- 26:17Speaker 1: and I want you to hear Fetterman's advice to Joe Biden.
- 26:21Speaker 16: Express concern about President Biden's mental and cognitive health before
- 26:25Speaker 16: the debate. Now it is seventy two percent, so there
- 26:27Speaker 16: was already concern before. And you mentioned the polling. You
- 26:31Speaker 16: know that you were going to lose any one. You know,
- 26:33Speaker 16: it should be noted for our viewers to remind our
- 26:35Speaker 16: viewers that you you had a tough debate, right, you
- 26:37Speaker 16: had had a stroke and so forth. And I wonder
- 26:40Speaker 16: if your personal experience of voter is being able to
- 26:44Speaker 16: look past what you went through, if that is kind
- 26:47Speaker 16: of giving you more compassion for President Biden in this case.
- 26:51Speaker 17: Well, here's here's things that's true. Joe Biden has been
- 26:54Speaker 17: a great president. You know, Joe Biden. She beat Trump
- 26:59Speaker 17: in twenty twenty. And that last conversation you had last segment,
- 27:02Speaker 17: you were talking about all the legal kinds of problems.
- 27:05Speaker 17: You know, I'm not really worried about that ruling today.
- 27:07Speaker 17: I'm not actually surprised by it given the makeup of
- 27:09Speaker 17: the Supreme Court. But stop, you know, don't elect you know, criminals,
- 27:14Speaker 17: and then it's not really sad issue you have to
- 27:16Speaker 17: be worried about, and you don't have to worry about
- 27:19Speaker 17: with It's Joe Biden, and Joe Biden is our guy,
- 27:21Speaker 17: and it's going to be a stark choice. You have
- 27:24Speaker 17: Joe Biden or Donald Trump. It's going to be close.
- 27:26Speaker 17: I've been saying that same thing for the last eight years,
- 27:30Speaker 17: you know, Trump or Clinton, Trump Biden in twenty twenty,
- 27:33Speaker 17: or the same thing again in twenty four. It's going
- 27:36Speaker 17: to be close. And I do believe Joe Biden is
- 27:38Speaker 17: going to win. And like I said, it's not going
- 27:41Speaker 17: to be easy. But I don't understand why there's other
- 27:45Speaker 17: Democrats losing their minds over this. And this it's one
- 27:49Speaker 17: debate does not define anyone. As I said, my own
- 27:53Speaker 17: personal experience have proven that's just not appropriate.
- 27:57Speaker 4: Right.
- 27:58Speaker 16: We should note, though, there is a difference between you know,
- 28:00Speaker 16: a man in Assippi's as you were suffering from a
- 28:03Speaker 16: health issue which voters have an expectation he would recover
- 28:07Speaker 16: from versus age. In this situation with President Biden, he
- 28:11Speaker 16: would be eighty two if he were to be reelected
- 28:13Speaker 16: eighty six at the end of that another four years.
- 28:17Speaker 16: And you have people like Democratic Congressman Jamie Raskin saying
- 28:20Speaker 16: there have been very honest and serious conversations happening within
- 28:23Speaker 16: the Democratic Party following Biden's debate performance. What do you
- 28:28Speaker 16: know about those conversations. Do you think those conversations should
- 28:31Speaker 16: be happening.
- 28:33Speaker 17: I'm a gigantic fan of a representative Raskin, just in
- 28:37Speaker 17: that situation, I don't necessarily agree with some of those
- 28:40Speaker 17: views on that. You know, I have disagreed with Joe
- 28:44Speaker 17: Biden often, whether it was the Israel war or whether
- 28:48Speaker 17: that is with the border I made that that's a rage.
- 28:51Speaker 17: That's a major issue here. And just if I didn't
- 28:54Speaker 17: believe exactly what I'm saying right now, I wouldn't be
- 28:57Speaker 17: on your show right now talking about that. Let me
- 29:00Speaker 17: just say this too. If you think you're a friend
- 29:03Speaker 17: of the president there that you're you know, you don't
- 29:05Speaker 17: say that you know on national television, or you don't
- 29:08Speaker 17: put that in the nation's biggest paper. You reach out
- 29:12Speaker 17: in private, but if Joe Biden doesn't call you up
- 29:15Speaker 17: and ask your opinion, you know, then maybe you're not
- 29:18Speaker 17: the kind of close friend that you might think you are.
- 29:20Speaker 17: But Joe Biden has the right and he's earned that
- 29:23Speaker 17: right to have his support, and he's been a great
- 29:25Speaker 17: president throughout all that. I'll would take Joe Biden any
- 29:28Speaker 17: day over the kind of a terrible president who's now
- 29:33Speaker 17: demonstrated he's immune to all the criminal behavior that he
- 29:37Speaker 17: is now up to.
- 29:38Speaker 4: Trial for now.
- 29:40Speaker 17: But it comes down to that choice that we have
- 29:42Speaker 17: right now in November. Whose side are you chaos and
- 29:46Speaker 17: revenge or a good president who's done a good job
- 29:49Speaker 17: and it's going to take our nation in the right direction,
- 29:52Speaker 17: all right.
- 29:53Speaker 16: Santra John Fetterman, thank you so much for coming on.
- 29:57Speaker 1: Wow Fetterman, the guy who was in pascitated when he
- 30:00Speaker 1: ran is now giving advising. I think if you're a
- 30:03Speaker 1: friend of Biden, you don't say things on TV. You
- 30:05Speaker 1: reach out in private, and if Joe Biden doesn't call
- 30:08Speaker 1: you up and ask your opinion, then maybe you're not
- 30:12Speaker 1: the kind of close friend that you thought.
- 30:13Speaker 17: You might be.
- 30:16Speaker 1: Well, I've never liked a guy. I mean this. I
- 30:20Speaker 1: was rooting for his health to come back, obviously, but
- 30:22Speaker 1: I've never rooted for a guy more than Fetterman as
- 30:25Speaker 1: a Democrat because he says so many things like this. Also,
- 30:29Speaker 1: Biden campaign chair just coming out. Listen to this on
- 30:33Speaker 1: a Biden donors conference call. It's only fourteen seconds long,
- 30:37Speaker 1: but the Biden campaign is having a new push to
- 30:40Speaker 1: reassure voters.
- 30:41Speaker 8: Listen campaign officials addressing hundreds of donors on a conference
- 30:45Speaker 8: call last night.
- 30:46Speaker 17: The audio obtained by NBC News from someone who was
- 30:49Speaker 17: on the call.
- 30:50Speaker 9: In the media has spent.
- 30:51Speaker 12: A ton of time blowing this out.
- 30:53Speaker 13: Of proportion, and he's probably in better health than most
- 30:55Speaker 13: of us.
- 30:57Speaker 1: That's their line. The media has spent there are too
- 31:00Speaker 1: much time blowing this out of proportion. He's in far
- 31:03Speaker 1: better health than most of us. Yeah, he's probably in
- 31:06Speaker 1: better health than most of us. Really, because if that's
- 31:09Speaker 1: what health looks like, Jesus, please take the will and
- 31:11Speaker 1: take me now, don't forget. Share this podcast wherever you
- 31:15Speaker 1: are on social media and help us grow. Please reach
