- 1:32Speaker 2: and we are not perfect. Those imperfections can make other
- 1:35Speaker 2: people's lives better. It's not always about the sunny side
- 1:39Speaker 2: of the world that enables success stories to happen. It's

- 2:08Speaker 2: It's time to stop reading other people's success stories and
- 2:11Speaker 2: start living your own. My guess it's the CEO of
- 2:15Speaker 2: Family Lawn Services. It's that time of the year. Everybody
- 2:18Speaker 2: a landscape company that excels and provides the top tier
- 2:22Speaker 2: lawn care solutions, expecially explicitly tailored for both residential and
- 2:28Speaker 2: commercial properties. Please welcome to the Money Making Conversation master Class.
- 2:32Speaker 2: Mela love it. How you doing, Mila?
- 2:35Speaker 4: Hi, resign o? Good? How are you now?
- 2:38Speaker 2: Would I be wrong and say you've been out in
- 2:40Speaker 2: the yard all day?
- 2:43Speaker 4: Definitely would be.
- 2:47Speaker 2: Oh, oh, you've been having the scene. It's okay, right,
- 2:49Speaker 2: there's sunshine or rainy days, it doesn't matter. It's a
- 2:53Speaker 2: good day with you.
- 2:54Speaker 4: Huh Right. Sometimes I'll get out there when it needs,
- 2:58Speaker 4: you know, a lady touch, but I leave it up
- 3:01Speaker 4: to the guys.
- 3:02Speaker 2: Well good, Let's let's talk about being a CEO, and
- 3:05Speaker 2: also I want to talk about it. When I was
- 3:06Speaker 2: going through your bio, Mila, it well mentioned something about
- 3:09Speaker 2: being a serial entrepreneur. What does that mean? When you
- 3:13Speaker 2: say a serial entrepreneur.
- 3:16Speaker 4: I mean I run multiple businesses. Okay, of course you
- 3:22Speaker 4: can't only have one stream of income, and so landscape
- 3:27Speaker 4: is my top priority. But I'm also age mortgage lender
- 3:32Speaker 4: in Georgia for commercial and residential properties. I'm a consultant
- 3:38Speaker 4: on business setups and how to properly structure your business
- 3:44Speaker 4: because a lot of the time our people wasn't taught that.
- 3:49Speaker 4: So I feel like it's my duty to tell the world,
- 3:53Speaker 4: teach them how to properly structure their businesses so that
- 3:56Speaker 4: they can thrive and won't have to content continue to
- 4:00Speaker 4: use personal money for business purposes.
- 4:04Speaker 2: Well, let me ask you this because a lot of
- 4:05Speaker 2: people come to me and uh, because I, first of all,
- 4:08Speaker 2: I love the fact that you mentioned multiple streams of
- 4:10Speaker 2: income because I talk about that all the time on
- 4:13Speaker 2: one making conversations master class that you know, I say,
- 4:16Speaker 2: there are twenty four hours in the day, learn to
- 4:17Speaker 2: take advantage of each hour. And I'm assuming that's what
- 4:20Speaker 2: you're doing with these multiple streams of income format because
- 4:23Speaker 2: it's not based in a forty hour work week. Correct?
- 4:26Speaker 4: Correct?
- 4:28Speaker 2: So how do you how do you manage? I heard
- 4:30Speaker 2: her husband in your bayo, I heard kids in your bio.
- 4:34Speaker 2: I hear the multiple streams of income? See, Oh, how
- 4:38Speaker 2: are you doing all this? Mealer?
- 4:40Speaker 4: Oh? I meditate? Honestly, I meditate. Oh some days, I
- 4:48Speaker 4: honestly don't know how I'm doing it, but I know
- 4:52Speaker 4: that it's a bigger goal. R It's bigger than me.
- 4:56Speaker 4: So my body is pretty much taking its own control
- 4:59Speaker 4: and just doing it. I'll call the people that I need,
- 5:03Speaker 4: put people in places to help me when needed. I
- 5:06Speaker 4: appreciate all my support, but yeah, meditation is my number
- 5:12Speaker 4: one go to.
- 5:13Speaker 2: Now I've never done meditating. I've never talked about meditating
- 5:16Speaker 2: on the show. I've talked about stretching. I've talked about yoga,
- 5:20Speaker 2: I guess, but meditation. Talk to me about that because
- 5:24Speaker 2: that sounds like something that people need to when they
- 5:27Speaker 2: hit that stress point. Some type of meditation needs to
- 5:31Speaker 2: be in everybody's life, I believe, or slow down button
- 5:34Speaker 2: or a moment to be able to you know, I
- 5:36Speaker 2: guess they say decompress, talk about meditation.
- 5:40Speaker 4: Yes, that's very important. And like I said, I do
- 5:44Speaker 4: multiple things. So I have small children under what seven
- 5:49Speaker 4: and four? So I got children, I have puppies and everything.
- 5:55Speaker 4: Everybody needs something at one time. So when I feel
- 5:59Speaker 4: myself getting a little too much pressure, a little too overwhelmed,
- 6:05Speaker 4: I shut everything down. No phone, no computer, no kids, nobody.
- 6:10Speaker 4: I sit in the room, put on frequency sounds off
- 6:15Speaker 4: the pandora, and I just breathe in and breathe out.
- 6:18Speaker 4: At that moment, everything that's on my mind I let
- 6:21Speaker 4: it go. Nothing I do about it right now, let
- 6:24Speaker 4: me take these ten minutes to just really regroup, because mentally,
- 6:29Speaker 4: you can't function properly with so many things hitting you
- 6:33Speaker 4: at one time. That's how I feel about it.
- 6:36Speaker 2: Well, I like that. I like that. I know that
- 6:40Speaker 2: everybody has a way of dealing with stress. That's a
- 6:43Speaker 2: stress moment right there. When you're when you're meditating, when
- 6:47Speaker 2: you're decompressing, you're you're finding a zone where okay, look
- 6:51Speaker 2: before I say something wrong, do something wrong, you know, stop,
- 6:56Speaker 2: and that that control. I admire the fact that you
- 6:59Speaker 2: know your brain breaking point or nearing your breaking point.
- 7:02Speaker 2: I'm assuming that's what you're trying to avoid.
- 7:04Speaker 4: Correct, correct, correct, And I actually learned that after my
- 7:11Speaker 4: last son something personal about me. I have postpartum depression.
- 7:17Speaker 4: So I had to really dig into my mental to
- 7:22Speaker 4: understand what is going on, Why is this happening? Why
- 7:25Speaker 4: do I feel such pressure, darkness, sadness, everything is going
- 7:30Speaker 4: on at one time. And that's when I started meditating.
- 7:34Speaker 4: I started digging into paths, traumas all along, writing things down,
- 7:39Speaker 4: getting these things out so I to understand when is
- 7:44Speaker 4: my breaking point and what do I need to do
- 7:47Speaker 4: when I'm reaching it.
- 7:48Speaker 2: Let me ask you this because I want to really
- 7:50Speaker 2: I think it's important as we delve into this because
- 7:53Speaker 2: of the fact that, you know, as African Americans, we
- 7:56Speaker 2: don't talk about mental health. We tend to shy away
- 7:59Speaker 2: from those systems that may show we are not perfect.
- 8:04Speaker 2: And we all know we live in a highly stressful
- 8:06Speaker 2: environment because of the color of our skin. So what
- 8:10Speaker 2: did you turn to? What did you find that on
- 8:12Speaker 2: this morment? Was it your husband? Where did you go
- 8:15Speaker 2: to realize, you know, I need help.
- 8:22Speaker 4: I think what happened was my son got really my
- 8:27Speaker 4: youngest son was really, really sick, and I mean everything
- 8:33Speaker 4: is hit at one time, and it really hurt. It
- 8:35Speaker 4: felt really heavy. I'm like, I'm just gonna run away,
- 8:38Speaker 4: leave all of this alone, just run away. I left
- 8:43Speaker 4: the house. I sat and I thought about it. I'm like, Okay,
- 8:49Speaker 4: can you really leave your children by their selves? Can
- 8:53Speaker 4: you leave them to not be raised by mother? Like, no,
- 8:58Speaker 4: can't do that, That's not an option. So I started reading,
- 9:02Speaker 4: started reading about the importance of your mental health. I
- 9:07Speaker 4: didn't have insurance at the time, so I didn't have
- 9:10Speaker 4: a doctor I could go to. Just started reading and
- 9:13Speaker 4: then I start journaling, writing things out because everything that
- 9:20Speaker 4: I was reading was saying, you have to get out
- 9:22Speaker 4: these past traumas in order for you to move forward.
- 9:26Speaker 4: So I said, Okay, everything that ever happened in the past,
- 9:30Speaker 4: I have to completely and ultimately let it go, Let
- 9:34Speaker 4: it out, let it go. It happened. I don't know
- 9:39Speaker 4: or understand why it may happen, but it doesn't matter
- 9:42Speaker 4: because it doesn't affect who I am.
- 9:44Speaker 2: Today, right right, And I think it's important as entrepreneurs
- 9:49Speaker 2: people get into business that you know, we all want
- 9:53Speaker 2: lying at the door when you open your door. We
- 9:55Speaker 2: all want an email box full when you have a business.
- 10:00Speaker 2: But those sometimes it doesn't happen like that. You have
- 10:02Speaker 2: down moments, those stress moments, those stress points that pop up.
- 10:05Speaker 2: Now you've been an entrepreneur in the family lawn service.
- 10:10Speaker 2: Now I gotta ask you this, is it a seasonal
- 10:13Speaker 2: period for lawn service?
- 10:19Speaker 4: When I first when we post first started, we thought it.
- 10:23Speaker 2: Was okay, you thought, like, Mabe, the summertime. It's when
- 10:26Speaker 2: it's like you busy, busy in my mind, you know,
- 10:31Speaker 2: and it's you know, like I'm just saying, like May
- 10:33Speaker 2: to September is if you have launch service company, you busy,
- 10:38Speaker 2: and then all of a sudden, when the days get cold,
- 10:40Speaker 2: in my mind, you start shutting down and you have
- 10:43Speaker 2: to make sure you save money from your summer activity.
- 10:47Speaker 2: You're telling me that's that's that's not how it really works. Correct, correct,
- 10:52Speaker 2: talk to me.
- 10:54Speaker 4: Okay, so it's seasonal. Yeah, you make more money during
- 10:58Speaker 4: the summertime. You would think that at first, but as
- 11:02Speaker 4: your repetition gets out there, people understand what you do,
- 11:07Speaker 4: under respect the quality of work you do. You have referrals,
- 11:11Speaker 4: that's referring you to other people. Then the wintertime can
- 11:16Speaker 4: be just as busy as the summertime. The only difference
- 11:19Speaker 4: is we're not doing as many properties as we would
- 11:24Speaker 4: normally do.
- 11:25Speaker 2: Right, right, Okay, so let's talk about Uh, you know,
- 11:30Speaker 2: I'm a guy you know who thanks you know who
- 11:33Speaker 2: thinks he knows lawn service.
- 11:35Speaker 4: Okay, they all do.
- 11:38Speaker 2: You know, I'm a good le I know I know
- 11:40Speaker 2: about nuts edge and crab grass, and I know about
- 11:44Speaker 2: the cloud clovers. And you know I got my you know,
- 11:47Speaker 2: I got my weed and feed or the weed. They
- 11:50Speaker 2: won't harm your the spread, they won't harm your grass,
- 11:55Speaker 2: but to harm the weeds. So I'm not. I guess
- 11:58Speaker 2: I'm know enough to be dangerous.
- 12:00Speaker 5: Me.
- 12:00Speaker 2: Look, okay, okay, okay, okay, Now I call you as
- 12:05Speaker 2: a lawn service. What do I need to be because
- 12:09Speaker 2: I brought you on the show, because first of all,
- 12:11Speaker 2: like I said, I know enough to be dangerous, but
- 12:14Speaker 2: I need you to make my yard last to avoid
- 12:17Speaker 2: that ugliness, because I don't want to be the neighbor
- 12:20Speaker 2: who has the bad looking yard in the in the
- 12:23Speaker 2: in the neighborhood. So when I call you, what in
- 12:28Speaker 2: any particular questions I should be asking you as a
- 12:31Speaker 2: family lawn service?
- 12:34Speaker 4: Yes, okay, So when you initially call a landscape company,
- 12:40Speaker 4: it depends on what kind of services you're looking for.
- 12:43Speaker 4: Now you have lawn maintenance.
- 12:45Speaker 2: Okay, cool? Is lawn maintenance? Cutting your grass?
- 12:48Speaker 4: Yeah, okay, cuttings in your edgine, blowing, that's lawn mask
- 12:56Speaker 4: if you if the hedges are included, will from the
- 13:00Speaker 4: bushes as well.
- 13:01Speaker 2: Okay, now let me ask you this, let me shure it.
- 13:03Speaker 2: So so oh, you know, I'm just using my yard
- 13:05Speaker 2: as an example, not gonna get too descriptive. Or now
- 13:07Speaker 2: I do have the hedges, and then sometimes you know,
- 13:11Speaker 2: you walk and I got these little limbs probably need
- 13:13Speaker 2: to be cut back. I guess would you call that trimming?
- 13:17Speaker 4: Trimming?
- 13:18Speaker 2: Okay, cool, So hedging we call trimming as well. That's
- 13:21Speaker 2: you know hedges. You walk around the path where you
- 13:24Speaker 2: they look like they're a little fat, you know, look
- 13:26Speaker 2: like they need to be you know, trim back a
- 13:29Speaker 2: little bit so off the top knock off. Now that's
- 13:33Speaker 2: a skill. Though. Now I hired the wrong person one
- 13:37Speaker 2: time and I almost lost all my hedges. Okay, how
- 13:43Speaker 2: do I know the right person to get out there?
- 13:46Speaker 2: They won't have me cry because I cried. I cried,
- 13:48Speaker 2: walked out there, I saw this guy and I went,
- 13:52Speaker 2: I have made a major mistake. And you know he
- 13:55Speaker 2: cut my He cut my hedges so bad that he
- 13:59Speaker 2: left and didn't even ask for no money. Not that
- 14:02Speaker 2: I would have paid him, but no, he knew, he
- 14:07Speaker 2: knew he had messed up that bad. I wouldn't. I'll
- 14:11Speaker 2: tell you something me. It was just a moment for
- 14:13Speaker 2: me in my yard, because you know, that's where I
- 14:15Speaker 2: get relaxed. She know, your yard is where you get relaxed.
- 14:18Speaker 2: You come home and you feel good, you're walking into
- 14:22Speaker 2: your house. And I hide this guy he would he
- 14:26Speaker 2: left a little note in my mailbox. Right, you laughing
- 14:30Speaker 2: at me now because you said, Rishan, that's sign number
- 14:33Speaker 2: one mailbox. No up table. We're about to go to
- 14:35Speaker 2: break so I could finish this story. Beeler, because you're
- 14:38Speaker 2: laughing at me now because you know I'm making some mistakes.
- 14:41Speaker 2: I made some mistakes. Now I'm not making those mistakes anymore.
- 14:43Speaker 2: We're talking to her, Meela love It. She's a serial entrepreneur.
- 14:47Speaker 2: She's the CEO of Family Lawn Services. Now she doesn't
- 14:51Speaker 2: go out there and cut no grass, but she knows
- 14:53Speaker 2: and tells everybody what to do. She lives a life
- 14:56Speaker 2: of accudition the rest of those people out there working
- 15:00Speaker 2: in the sun. You call her, she'd keep me in
- 15:02Speaker 2: the sun. We be right back with Family Lawn Service CEO,
- 15:05Speaker 2: Mela love It. You're listening to Money Making Conversation Masterclass.
- 15:08Speaker 2: I'm your host, Rashaan McDonald.
- 15:17Speaker 5: We'll be right back with more Money Making Conversations Masterclass
- 15:20Speaker 5: with Rushawan McDonald. Welcome back to the Money Making Conversations
- 15:28Speaker 5: Masterclass hosted by Rashaan McDonald. Money Making Conversations Masterclass continues
- 15:33Speaker 5: online at Moneymakingconversations dot com and follow Money Making Conversations
- 15:38Speaker 5: Masterclass on Facebook, Twitter and Instagram.
- 15:41Speaker 2: My guest is the CEO of Family Lawn Services, Mela
- 15:45Speaker 2: love It. Mila Os was laughing at me Chuckley, and
- 15:48Speaker 2: I say Chuckley when I told her how I got
- 15:52Speaker 2: my lawn service. Somebody had left a note in my mailbox.
- 15:57Speaker 2: You know, trust in me. I hired this person to
- 16:02Speaker 2: do lawn services manicure unless you used the word manicure.
- 16:05Speaker 2: That's what he said on his note, me loave, he
- 16:08Speaker 2: did lawn manicures. Okay, came in and destroyed my hedges
- 16:16Speaker 2: so bad that when I went inside and came back out,
- 16:21Speaker 2: he was gone and I never saw him again, Mila.
- 16:25Speaker 2: So that's a testimony to how bad he did my York.
- 16:29Speaker 2: So with that being said, what did I do wrong?
- 16:33Speaker 4: I'm so sorry for lasting sorry. But first, first, for
- 16:40Speaker 4: say a note in your mailbox? No sorry, no, sir.
- 16:47Speaker 4: Even when I started a landscape company, we never opened
- 16:51Speaker 4: somebody's mailbox but a business part on the side or
- 16:56Speaker 4: on the front, because you know it's a set of
- 16:58Speaker 4: room fit to open the mailbo mm hmmmm hl Like
- 17:03Speaker 4: we're in preschool. You want to be my boyfriend? Yes
- 17:06Speaker 4: or no? No, no, no, sorry, you should not have
- 17:12Speaker 4: allowed him to do anything to your bushes. Last, you
- 17:17Speaker 4: need to check the resources right.
- 17:22Speaker 2: Well, you know I but you know, sometimes it goes
- 17:26Speaker 2: in the whole thing. It's like even if I call
- 17:29Speaker 2: the people, you know, I didn't know where to look.
- 17:32Speaker 2: I was in a hurry. I'm gonna use that excuse.
- 17:34Speaker 2: I was in a hurry. You know what could somebody
- 17:37Speaker 2: do wrong? You know? And I discovered that they if
- 17:40Speaker 2: they don't know what they're doing, they out there. You
- 17:42Speaker 2: let somebody damage something that if you if you do
- 17:47Speaker 2: it wrong, then guess what you have to physically replace
- 17:51Speaker 2: the hedges, which I wind up doing. So he may
- 17:54Speaker 2: have left without me paying him, but he left a bill, right,
- 18:01Speaker 2: He left a battle. And so so with that being said,
- 18:04Speaker 2: you as a lawn service, when did you start your
- 18:07Speaker 2: lawn business? Mila?
- 18:09Speaker 4: Oh, we started five years ago, okay.
- 18:12Speaker 2: And what made you feel that was an area of
- 18:17Speaker 2: business that you could be successful in?
- 18:21Speaker 4: Honestly, it was just off the hope to be able
- 18:26Speaker 4: to lead something to our children.
- 18:28Speaker 2: Okay.
- 18:29Speaker 4: My husband said, I want to cut grass.
- 18:32Speaker 2: I said, okay, that's that's really that's an understatement. What
- 18:38Speaker 2: was he doing Prior to lawn service.
- 18:41Speaker 4: We were both working at retail stores. I was the
- 18:44Speaker 4: assistant manager at Walgreens and the manager at Walmart.
- 18:50Speaker 2: Okay, so y'all had successful jobs with the medical health
- 18:56Speaker 2: care plans, and y'all independently thought y'all would go in
- 19:00Speaker 2: business together to do Launcher. And that's really I'm just
- 19:05Speaker 2: trying to figure out why lawn service? Did you go
- 19:08Speaker 2: through a list of opportunities for business? Uh options? Why
- 19:13Speaker 2: lawn service? Because your husband said, let's cut grass. He
- 19:16Speaker 2: went and got a couple of lawnmows, a couple of
- 19:18Speaker 2: weed eats. He knew. Somebody give us some backstory.
- 19:21Speaker 4: Yeah, literally, he used to cut grass with his brother
- 19:26Speaker 4: when they were younger, When they were you know, kids
- 19:28Speaker 4: cut the neighborhoods grass and things like that. But outside
- 19:32Speaker 4: of that, I've never seen them cut grass until we
- 19:36Speaker 4: got a house of our own, right, and he cut
- 19:39Speaker 4: the grass.
- 19:41Speaker 2: So basically, you're telling me that, you know, like he's
- 19:46Speaker 2: an interesting story about me, Like I didn't, you know,
- 19:48Speaker 2: I didn't. My mom always cooked, but then as I
- 19:51Speaker 2: got older, I fell in love with cooking and baking
- 19:54Speaker 2: because I started doing it myself. So are you saying
- 19:58Speaker 2: that when you got a house. It kind of triggered
- 20:01Speaker 2: maybe an entrance, because he was he really like really
- 20:05Speaker 2: jazzing up your yard, like really killing the weeds and
- 20:08Speaker 2: doing the hedges and all that stuff.
- 20:11Speaker 4: Yeah, yeah, he studied. He started on our grass or
- 20:17Speaker 4: our grades.
- 20:20Speaker 2: Wow. And then so so how do you start hiring
- 20:25Speaker 2: people for your company? How do you do that process?
- 20:29Speaker 2: I guess I want to say me. I know you said.
- 20:31Speaker 2: Look with Sean, I handle the paperwork. They do the task.
- 20:35Speaker 2: He's by himself. He's told you you have successful jobs,
- 20:38Speaker 2: y'all not leaving you know, y'all not leaving jobs that
- 20:41Speaker 2: not that that people are companies that people don't know,
- 20:44Speaker 2: very familiar jobs. What did people say? Your family members
- 20:48Speaker 2: say to you, people you know, tell you you're quitting two
- 20:52Speaker 2: jobs as managers, system managers to.
- 20:56Speaker 4: Cut grass, well rich only I didn't quit.
- 21:01Speaker 2: Okay, okay, okay, you played it, played it, played it smart,
- 21:05Speaker 2: you quit, you cut grass. I'm just keeping up. I'm
- 21:07Speaker 2: keeping my forty hour with job.
- 21:08Speaker 4: That's what you say, right until we, you know, get
- 21:11Speaker 4: it rolling, which I'm glad we did it, because any
- 21:15Speaker 4: business have losses. Right our first season, somebody stole the truck,
- 21:21Speaker 4: the equipment, everything, literally stole everything we had.
- 21:27Speaker 2: Okay, you know that happened to the guy who's cutting
- 21:31Speaker 2: my grass too. So you know, he came to me
- 21:33Speaker 2: one day and uh, he said, Rashaan got some bad news.
- 21:37Speaker 2: My truck and all my equipment was stolen. H So
- 21:42Speaker 2: how did it happen in your situation? You know, because
- 21:45Speaker 2: he's literally said, you know what he did was parked
- 21:48Speaker 2: in front of somebody's house. He walked inside and he
- 21:51Speaker 2: came back and everything was gone.
- 21:55Speaker 4: Yeah, and the way it hasn't our. Our truck was
- 22:00Speaker 4: part in this rightway in your driveway, in this driveway.
- 22:05Speaker 2: And what type of truck was it? What type of
- 22:06Speaker 2: truck was?
- 22:07Speaker 4: It was a white I'll never forget it. It was like
- 22:10Speaker 4: a two thousand and five, two thousand and six white
- 22:13Speaker 4: Dodge round two seater.
- 22:17Speaker 2: To keep in the back.
- 22:20Speaker 4: Yep, yep. Put the small equipment on the bed, put
- 22:24Speaker 4: the one lawn moor on the trailer. I walked outside,
- 22:30Speaker 4: I'm about to go to work, and I'm like, babe,
- 22:35Speaker 4: where up truck it? He said, it's outside. I'll say, well,
- 22:41Speaker 4: wait to park get it? He said, stop playing. I'm
- 22:44Speaker 4: not for the place to you. I'm not saying the
- 22:46Speaker 4: place to parked the car right outside? I said, oh, okay,
- 22:50Speaker 4: where you come look cause I don't see sure enough?
- 22:53Speaker 4: It was not out there, blew everything up, blew everything up,
- 23:00Speaker 4: had to start completely open. He wanted to quit, and
- 23:03Speaker 4: I was like, no, we ain't gonna get nobody that
- 23:05Speaker 4: much power because we still need to leave something to
- 23:08Speaker 4: these children. At that I only had one. We still
- 23:12Speaker 4: need to leave something to this kid. So we kept going.
- 23:18Speaker 2: How did you recover from that? How did you recover
- 23:20Speaker 2: from that? Did you have to get loan? Did you
- 23:22Speaker 2: start one lawn more? Because the insurance cover your equipment,
- 23:26Speaker 2: did it cover the vehicle that was stolen?
- 23:32Speaker 4: The equipment was not covered. The vehicle was covered. So
- 23:40Speaker 4: we were able to get another truck with no problem.
- 23:44Speaker 4: We just had to get equipment, so we have loan
- 23:48Speaker 4: for the equipment.
- 23:50Speaker 2: We were talking about Miela Loved she's the CEO of
- 23:53Speaker 2: Family Lawn Services. Mila, how can one get in touch
- 23:56Speaker 2: with you?
- 23:58Speaker 4: Eight hundred four six row five eight one more time
- 24:03Speaker 4: eight hundred four six zero.
- 24:07Speaker 2: Five eight and what is your website?
- 24:10Speaker 4: The website is Family Lawn Services dot com.
- 24:14Speaker 2: Let me ask you this as we close out this interview,
- 24:17Speaker 2: what do you think for your company? Is your strongest
- 24:19Speaker 2: strength as a company when it comes to lawn service
- 24:23Speaker 2: abilities both residential.
- 24:24Speaker 4: And commercial pass down, I would say the quality of work.
- 24:29Speaker 4: My boys are out there showing out and I'm grateful
- 24:33Speaker 4: to them.
- 24:34Speaker 2: So you're telling me, Rashaan McDonald, if you call Family
- 24:39Speaker 2: Lawn Services and you want somebody to do the hedges,
- 24:43Speaker 2: you know, get them all nice and round or squared off,
- 24:46Speaker 2: you know, trim back the trees. I should be calling you.
- 24:51Speaker 4: Absolutely, you should be calling me because I'm not gonna
- 24:55Speaker 4: mess up your bushes. Right why perfect wound? However you
- 25:03Speaker 4: like them?
- 25:04Speaker 2: Well, I'll tell you something that's that's a skill that
- 25:06Speaker 2: is something I can't do. I've seen it done wrong
- 25:08Speaker 2: so and I've had tears in my eyes when it
- 25:10Speaker 2: was done wrong. But more importantly, you know, this is
- 25:13Speaker 2: a great interview from a standpoint of honesty. You talked
- 25:16Speaker 2: about the meditation. You talked about being a serial entrepreneur,
- 25:21Speaker 2: multiple strings of income. You talked about stress. You talk
- 25:24Speaker 2: about overcoming the arts or walking away both you and
- 25:27Speaker 2: your husband, walking away from full time jobs. Being smart
- 25:31Speaker 2: enough to know that as you enter into the independent
- 25:35Speaker 2: entrepreneur space once you keep working and one should venture
- 25:39Speaker 2: into that task and then all the then all at
- 25:42Speaker 2: the top of it, when all was stolen from you,
- 25:46Speaker 2: you didn't quit. That is real important advice that everybody
- 25:50Speaker 2: needs to hear. And I really appreciate you coming on
- 25:53Speaker 2: Money Making Conversations Masterclass.
- 25:55Speaker 4: Thank you Mela so much, mister McDonald for having me.
- 25:58Speaker 4: I really enjoyed it.
- 26:00Speaker 2: Well, you know, I enjodged seriously. You know, people come
- 26:02Speaker 2: on this show and they you know, I don't know
- 26:04Speaker 2: what they're going to talk about. I have a list
- 26:06Speaker 2: of things what I want to ask them. But your
- 26:09Speaker 2: conversation is one of the more honest conversations that people
- 26:13Speaker 2: need to hear about stress and how you deal with stress.
- 26:16Speaker 2: Because we are we live in a vacuum, especially African
- 26:19Speaker 2: American people of color. We want to be in denial.
- 26:22Speaker 2: We want to walk around with high blood pressure, we
- 26:25Speaker 2: want to walk around with high cholesterol. And then suddenly
- 26:28Speaker 2: you look around and go what happened to Bill? What
- 26:30Speaker 2: happened to Jennifer? Because we didn't go to the doctor,
- 26:33Speaker 2: because we didn't admit that stressful situations where it was
- 26:37Speaker 2: led to bad eating, physical or mental disorders, but your conversation.
- 26:43Speaker 2: I hope when people hear it, they hear enough to say,
- 26:48Speaker 2: maybe I should listen and check in on what's happening here,
- 26:53Speaker 2: because I really appreciate you coming on the show, because
- 26:56Speaker 2: I believe you save some lives listening to this show
- 26:59Speaker 2: when one listens to his interview. Thank you, Mila.
- 27:01Speaker 4: I hope so too. Thank you so much, mister McDonald.
- 27:04Speaker 2: Cool, Okay, this is not all I want you to
- 27:07Speaker 2: stay here. This is Money Making Conversation Masterclass, and I'm
- 27:10Speaker 2: your host for Sean McDonald. Don't go anywhere.
