- 0:00G'day. That's right. It's that time again. Time for Cinema Yugen.
- 0:17G'day. Welcome back. Cinema Yugen this week.
- 0:21Kroll, the unofficial film companion is out.
- 0:25Eric Wofford is back he's my guest in
- 0:28the wake of the unprecedented success of
- 0:31the Star Wars franchise and Excalibur famous
- 0:35producing team Ted Mann and Ron Silverman began
- 0:38assembling a team of the most talented filmmakers in existence along with an
- 0:43experienced cast of screen legends and rising stars coupled with a huge budget
- 0:49and one of the most original albeit insane marking companions including Kroll,
- 0:55the themed wedding,
- 0:57and custom donuts.
- 0:59Kroll was destined to be the biggest hit of the year, but it flopped,
- 1:04recouping way less than half of its $40 million plus budget on its initial release.
- 1:10For the cast and crew that had worked on the film, they've avoided interviews
- 1:15for this book as though it were the plague.
- 1:18Yet every year, legions of Kroll fans, including Eric Wofford and myself show
- 1:23their unwavering and passionate love towards this now considered cult classic.
- 1:30How did this happen you might ask? Well this book hopes to shed light on how.
- 1:35This one-of-a-kind film was made, and the even more insane story behind the
- 1:43perceived failure that it was, whether you're a diehard Crowlite or a casual
- 1:47fan of the film, or just curious,
- 1:49we hope this book brings you much joy.
- 1:53Eric certainly does, because he put a lot of work into it.
- 1:58Crowl, the unofficial film companion, Eric Wofford is my guest.
- 2:02Welcome him back to cinema, Yugen.
- 2:05G'day, Eric. Thanks. Glad to be back. Thank you for being back and thank you for this book, mate.
- 2:13Absolutely. The unofficial film companion. This has been a long honesty for
- 2:18you, mate. Tell me how it feels.
- 2:20Well, I mean, look, I understand having come through the publishing world,
- 2:23what it feels like to finally hold the end product in your hand. It finally feels real.
- 2:28How does it feel to you, mate? But it feels great.
- 2:30Yeah. It took a while, but we got there. And again, I appreciate you for contributing
- 2:35to it. That was a great chapter in the book.
- 2:37Look, I mean, when anyone says anything to do with Kroll, I'm there.
- 2:41If they want me to do whatever, I would, as much as I would be,
- 2:48I don't know, I'm on the fence.
- 2:50I remember talking with Mark Silverman about this.
- 2:54And we were talking about, you know, when the rumor came around that JJA rumors
- 2:58was allegedly going to do a reboot or a remake or whatever the case may be,
- 3:05whether or not, you know,
- 3:08I would be, and I said, well, there's part of me that would be curious,
- 3:12the part of me that wishes, it was like Big Trouble in China when the rock was
- 3:17talking about doing a remake of Big Trouble in China or a reboot, and I was like.
- 3:24At some point, I think there are films you just should leave well alone. I don't see.
- 3:28As much as I would, like I said, as much as I would be curious,
- 3:32I don't really want to...
- 3:35See another version it's like i'm apprehensive about masters
- 3:38of the universe right i really
- 3:41i love the film that we got i mean okay and
- 3:44i think every look maybe because
- 3:47i grew up with it yeah it's like the james bond
- 3:50like everyone likes the james bond they grew up with like you're
- 3:53either a roger moore guy or my dad was a sean connery
- 3:56guy or you're a pierce brosnan guy or you're
- 3:59a daniel craig guy yeah yeah
- 4:03you know you're we're all products of that
- 4:06time but um enough about all that
- 4:09scroll the unofficial
- 4:12film companion what what what what
- 4:15a great what a great read i've been going
- 4:18i've been going through it a couple of times i.
- 4:21Really enjoyed the interview with lindsey krauss was interesting yeah yeah
- 4:25i had no idea i had no idea i was surprised to
- 4:28read or which i didn't know was her father co-wrote the
- 4:31sound of music yeah yeah she
- 4:34comes from a pretty interesting background and she's done
- 4:37everything you know worked with dustin hoffman
- 4:40and robert redford and then the kroll voiceover like
- 4:43yeah she was yeah she's the nicest lady too she's and also
- 4:47a film also a film that's getting some appreciation now
- 4:50that didn't when it came out was the arrival david till
- 4:53he's the arrival with the charlie sheen which
- 4:56is a really really good movie i i really like i really
- 4:59think i'm glad to see it sort of getting appreciation now
- 5:02david to he's a really really cool filmmaker his
- 5:06stuff i love i love i love the riddick films i know i
- 5:09don't know what that says about me but i liked
- 5:13them i'm keen to see the the final one if it's the last one the the furia film
- 5:18i really love david too he's he did a film called was it perfect getaway i think
- 5:23it was called perfect getaway i think it was perfect getaway And it's got Steve
- 5:28Zahn and Miller Jovovich and Timothy Oliphant.
- 5:31Oh. Young Chris Hemsworth. Nice.
- 5:35It's really good. If you haven't seen, I'm pretty sure it's called Perfect Getaway.
- 5:41I could just Google it, but the computer in my head is still working pretty
- 5:45well. I'm pretty sure it's Perfect Getaway, David Tui.
- 5:48Yeah, another surprising thing in here was the Glade Donut, which I'd never heard anything about.
- 5:54I can thank my wife for that. Yeah.
- 5:57That is pretty good too. Are they? Oh, okay.
- 6:01Yeah. Yeah. No, I was showing my wife too. I was like, I said,
- 6:05look, there's a recipe here.
- 6:07You know, just when you think the book couldn't get any better,
- 6:10there's a recipe in here too.
- 6:12Yeah. But look in, in reading this, there was so much stuff that came out for
- 6:18this movie everywhere else, everywhere else, but here as it would seem, uh.
- 6:24Because I was like, damn, like you see the pinball machine and the arcade machine.
- 6:28I go, we didn't get any of that.
- 6:30We got none of this stuff. I mean, it was absolutely, I feel robbed, essentially.
- 6:37I mean, look, I've seen you can buy some of this stuff on eBay and look,
- 6:41if I had some disposable income, I would probably spend quite a bit of money and get some of it.
- 6:49I saw it. And look, as we speak now, literally,
- 6:52it was announced earlier this week or something that 4K, the role was coming
- 7:01out on or being released on 4K.
- 7:04I think it's August or September, I'm pretty sure. Yeah.
- 7:07One of those two. So, I mean, yeah. Although, I don't know about you. How do you feel?
- 7:13There's some films of a certain age, 4K, for me, hurts them a little bit.
- 7:18Like i like yeah of cellulite yeah
- 7:22i yeah i like the film grain on on especially something
- 7:25like crawl i i wonder how that's gonna turn out i'm gonna
- 7:28buy a copy oh sure but yeah i'm
- 7:31i'm interested to see especially the fire mirror scene
- 7:34stuff like that in 4k that that scares me a little bit i
- 7:37love the scene yeah uh but you know some of
- 7:40that stuff doesn't age as well in 4k but uh
- 7:43i'm glad to see it i'll certainly buy a copy sure
- 7:46no look look look hey hey i pre-ordered it
- 7:49but getting back to the book too and and interesting
- 7:52enough talking about physical media you also
- 7:55have an interview in here with the uh the chap who did
- 7:58the uh the extra features on the dvd oddly enough i think i told you this last
- 8:03time we spoke about this kroll was the first ever dvd that i bought simply because
- 8:09i was well dvds were taking over the video stores were getting rid of vhs.
- 8:16These things called dvds and i thought well i have to start again
- 8:19and one day i thought well okay i started looking at some dvds and
- 8:22i was shocked absolutely completely and
- 8:26utterly dumb found that crawl was available on dvd i
- 8:29thought well if there's any film like because no one
- 8:33cared about it on vhs i thought well and here's this
- 8:36brand new medium and here's crawl and not
- 8:39only that it had a truckload it had a documentary
- 8:42it's got a great commentary it's got the the comic book all that sort of stuff
- 8:48and in the book to check the links in the description ladies and gentlemen while
- 8:52we're talking about it crawl the ultimate film companion links in the description
- 8:56there's an interview in here with the.
- 9:03Let's see assistant visual effects there's one here with the where is it,
- 9:10Hey, Kent Hill. Yeah. Read some of his stuff. He's a good guy. Yes.
- 9:16It was actually interesting to read, because it was written so long ago.
- 9:22Hey, that was pretty educated.
- 9:25Yeah, that was great. Jeffrey Schwartz. Yes, ladies and gentlemen.
- 9:28Jeffrey Schwartz, the bonus content creator for the Kroll DVD Readers.
- 9:32And you also posted a great photo of this too online, line
- 9:37of actually of pd yates and yeah oh
- 9:41the cinematographer what
- 9:44was his name oh man now you put me on the spot too jeez
- 9:47i'm gonna blank on it he says yes he
- 9:51did the empire yeah yeah yeah i actually so i
- 9:54actually reached out to him for this book okay and it
- 9:57was kind of weird he initially replied back
- 10:00that yeah he'd like to be interviewed for the book
- 10:03so then i sent him some questions i think it was one of the
- 10:06ones he didn't have time to do like a video call he
- 10:08said just send me your questions and i'll just send them in the
- 10:11pdf and then it was a
- 10:14couple weeks later he's like you know i i hate to
- 10:18say this but i don't want to be involved in the book because he doesn't feel
- 10:21like peter yates was apparently a very good personal friend of his and he said
- 10:26he didn't feel like this was up to peter yates's quality as compared to some
- 10:31of his other films So he didn't want to disparage it in any way.
- 10:35He's like, there's lots of good parts to it.
- 10:37And he's like, but there's some stuff. He's like, I feel like.
- 10:39You know, since I knew the behind the scenes, which I would have loved to heard.
- 10:43He's like, there's stuff we wanted to do.
- 10:44We weren't able to do or didn't turn out the way we wanted. And he's like,
- 10:47that's, he respectfully declined.
- 10:49But I had a lot of those actually, a lot of people that respectfully declined.
- 10:54Yeah, yeah. But very nice guy.
- 10:56It's a shame. I mean, because, you know, even just reading this,
- 11:03I mean, there's heaps of stuff that I had no idea.
- 11:06And you really need the point of view of the people involved that –.
- 11:15The only person I ever got to talk to that was officially involved was Ron Silverman.
- 11:21We'll put the link in the description for that. Yeah.
- 11:24And people can listen to that if they want. I was very shocked.
- 11:28He wasn't very active on Facebook, but I sent him a message with my email address way back in the day.
- 11:34Yeah. And it was a couple of years. It was like two years.
- 11:39And I randomly get this email out of the blue. It's Ron Silverman.
- 11:43And he said i'd be very interested to talk about carol and so we arranged his time and,
- 11:49i remember the first thing out of my mouth when he came on the phone is
- 11:52i said you sound exactly like you do in the behind the scenes documentary because
- 11:56why wouldn't i and i said exactly why wouldn't you but you know yeah yeah i
- 12:03wish i had that i said sorry i'm a dork because i said look i've heard your
- 12:06voice in that documentary so many times and then all of a sudden here i am talking to the guy.
- 12:12Right. You know, and he tells a great story about how he was sitting on the,
- 12:18when they were doing the shoot in Italy and he's sitting up there on a rock,
- 12:23when they're wrangling the horses and he was listening on a cassette tape,
- 12:27he was listening to the score of The Rest Have Come by one James Horner.
- 12:35When someone came up to me, he said, who are we going to get for the score?
- 12:38He said, I think we need to find this guy.
- 12:40James Holman. And, uh, yeah, it was, uh,
- 12:45It was a great, uh, it's a great chant, but oddly enough, I was,
- 12:48I've been listening to people since the, the news of the release of the 4k and
- 12:56it's brought Cole sort of temporarily back,
- 12:58if not minusculely back into the conversation.
- 13:01And it's been interesting to hear how people are reacting now. Yeah.
- 13:06Uh, there's still a lot of people that say, you know, it was some parts were
- 13:09good. but they ultimately don't love it.
- 13:12But I think the appreciation is,
- 13:15I think with time and I think with the more and more digital becomes part of
- 13:20our lives, I think the appreciation for these films that were largely constructed, if you know what I mean.
- 13:30I mean, because let's face it, everything in Kroll, for the most part,
- 13:34is built. It was all physical.
- 13:37You could stand in the... you know the throne
- 13:41room or the black fortress or or
- 13:44whatever whereas as as that disappears
- 13:47i think we're going i think the the appreciation
- 13:50for any films past a certain
- 13:53point is only going to enriching don't you think i
- 13:56agree yeah i 100 agree practical when possible
- 13:59is always better in my opinion but uh
- 14:03as far as the 4k crawl re-release i
- 14:06might be involved with that i can't say
- 14:09much else but it's a long shot but i
- 14:12am talking to someone about contributing this like some supplemental behind
- 14:16the scenes material for that sure that'd be awesome it's kind of i think it's
- 14:20farther along than i guess once they announce it this probably pretty much wrapped
- 14:24up already so i don't know if it's going to happen but i did reach out and i
- 14:28did get a response so hopefully,
- 14:30that'd be cool to be involved with that too that would be cool i pre-ordered
- 14:36it yeah even even Even though.
- 14:40Like I said, I've seen some films in 4K from certain periods and I don't,
- 14:45You know, I look personally, I thought the DVD transfer, just the ordinary run
- 14:50of the mill for all DVD when I first got it still, I still think that's a great transfer.
- 14:55The DVD, the Blu-ray, sorry, of course, even better.
- 14:59The 4k it's coming interests me to see how certain scenes will look in 4k. Yeah.
- 15:06Simply because of the way they used to composite. I think it really hurt like
- 15:11films like Flash Gordon.
- 15:13I don't like watching those. in in
- 15:164k i like the gauze yeah i
- 15:20do you know i mean it's it was probably like
- 15:23you probably read recently where they talked about a screening
- 15:26of the one of the early prints of
- 15:29star wars not i don't believe because someone said that it has the episode four
- 15:34on it so it can't be one of the 1977 right star wars prints it's got to be later
- 15:42because he didn't put on episode four until they made Empire Strikes Back.
- 15:47Right. It's later, but it's still a celluloid 35mm technical print.
- 15:53And they talked about in that, you know, some critics were being quite harsh,
- 15:58saying, oh, it makes the film look really quaint, you know, like it was Battled
- 16:02Beyond the Stars or something like that.
- 16:05Which is far more, you know, the more they restore these things,
- 16:09looks far more chintzy than, you know. I mean, obviously some of these critics
- 16:15haven't seen Dark Star or something like that, you know, to call it, you know.
- 16:21It's like I was saying before, I mean, all of these things are a product of their time.
- 16:26There's no way they can't not be what they are.
- 16:29But the way that audiences come to them, same with audiences that will come
- 16:35to Kroll in the future that have no idea of the history and just go in blind and watch it.
- 16:43Look, I would love to, as I keep saying to my wife, I'd love to just re-release.
- 16:48I think they should just re-release old movies.
- 16:51When they don't have a lot of new movies and just see how they play.
- 16:55Don't pump so much advertising in. Yeah.
- 16:59Just put it out, you know, limited release. They do a lot of it in the States.
- 17:03They don't do any of that kind of thing here. Or if they do,
- 17:06it's a very limited audience.
- 17:08But the idea of like a brand new young audience going in blind to some of these
- 17:13films, I reckon I personally believe that they would blow their minds because
- 17:18they haven't seen stuff like this, you know, Yeah.
- 17:23They're so used to a very formulaic, very mass-produced type of cinema.
- 17:30And I believe that the variety will blow their minds. Yes.
- 17:35It's funny you bring that up, because also like any kind of new modern trailer,
- 17:40it's the exact same beat.
- 17:42It's the exact same, you know, you cut to the little title card that says the
- 17:47name of the movie, and then the sound goes out, And there's always like a little
- 17:51sarcastic clip of someone saying, or, or like an explosion.
- 17:54And it's just, I mean, you watch the trailer. Okay. I don't know what I watched
- 18:00there. It was just generic.
- 18:03You know, it's just all the exact same. Like you have a little,
- 18:06you know, set up the premise and then there's a little bit of music and a little
- 18:09bit of action that cuts to the title card.
- 18:11And then it goes back to the sarcastic comment and boom, it's the trailer.
- 18:14I actually, one good trailer, not to be off topic. I don't know if you saw the
- 18:18trailer for Eddington, the new Joaquin Phoenix movie.
- 18:23Is that the trailer where he's scrolling? Looks like someone's scrolling on their phone.
- 18:26No. So there's an extended trailer now. Oh, okay. I haven't seen that one.
- 18:29I've seen the, like the, the, not related to crawl, but it's very good,
- 18:33but it's different, which is what I like about it. Yeah.
- 18:36Yeah. No, I mean, it's, um, I think that, well, look, when it,
- 18:43when it, when you look, there was a lot of cases like crawl back.
- 18:47At this time where I feel that because, I mean, look, they always try to pigeonhole these films.
- 18:57It's a certain box. It's either a science fiction film or a fantasy film, whatever.
- 19:02And I think that the marketing for that film, like the whole one-size-fits-all thing.
- 19:08Scenario like well it's a fantasy film marketed like
- 19:11a fantasy film it's an action film marketed like an action film
- 19:14whereas today you see them try to get inventive like
- 19:17with the thunderbolts there was an a24 inspired trailer
- 19:22so and and that seemed
- 19:25to to to get some more appreciation than
- 19:29the standard run of the mill let's show lots of action let's explosions this
- 19:33is what you're in for but suggesting something deeper that there's characters
- 19:39and there's a story that you can get involved with rather than just sit there
- 19:44and watch people of unusual size,
- 19:47strength and beauty beat the living whatever out of each other.
- 19:52Right. Which is sadly what some of these films fall into that category.
- 19:56It's really just like sit there and or like going on a roller coaster,
- 20:01to strap in, go on the roller coaster and you get off. That was exciting.
- 20:07What are we going to do next?
- 20:10And unfortunately with a lot of these films, there's no resonance and you do
- 20:13come out of them going, well, where are we going to eat?
- 20:17Right. I need to go for a crap or something, you know.
- 20:22And you've forgotten about the film while you're walking through the parking lot.
- 20:27And it's sad to see the stain of things, but it's great that fans like yourself
- 20:34and fans who keep cult films alive, check the link in the description,
- 20:39scroll the unofficial film companion.
- 20:44I heard sort of a rumour that you may be going to venture into more of these, Eric. Yeah.
- 20:51Another stab at a...
- 20:54I've got some on my list.
- 20:58I actually already did some pre preliminary work on one, but I had to drop it
- 21:03because there wasn't enough people to interview.
- 21:07I couldn't get ahold of them or they'd already passed away, but it was actually
- 21:10for the movie Prophecy, the mutated bear movie from the 80s.
- 21:15I don't know if you, maybe it's 1979.
- 21:17Anyways, I wanted to do one on that. I love that movie. I
- 21:20wanted to know and I reached out to a whole
- 21:23bunch of people and a lot of them either passed away
- 21:26or just couldn't get in contact with them
- 21:29so I had to drop that one but I do have some other ones one
- 21:32I'm seriously looking at is near dark um that's
- 21:36that's one I've found a good bit of contacts I can
- 21:39get and the other nice thing is a lot
- 21:42of them are still in the industry yeah with Kroll
- 21:45a lot of those guys you know they were 40 50
- 21:48at the time of Kroll and they'd either passed away or they
- 21:51don't really remember i had a lot of issues like i'd love to be
- 21:54interviewed you know like my memory i i don't remember what
- 21:57i ate this morning i don't remember anything about crawl so
- 22:00i tried to think on this next couple books if i do them you know some maybe
- 22:06slightly newer stuff that's still got that cult feel to it but you know they'll
- 22:10remember uh the details so near dark is is up there that might might be the
- 22:15next one too that'd be cool yeah yeah no i I mean, I think the great,
- 22:20I think the sort of the lost grail of interviews would have been Stanford Sherman about this movie.
- 22:26Yeah. I reached out to him, talked to him in an email.
- 22:29Yeah. And he basically, he said, I can't remember the details now,
- 22:34but he basically, this is a great salesman. He made me buy his book.
- 22:38I think the director should shoot me or something like that.
- 22:40But it had a chapter about Kroll and how he got brought into it.
- 22:44But he said, again, he didn't remember a lot of the details of it.
- 22:47And he said, there's as much detail as I can tell you in that book.
- 22:51Yeah. I mean, buy the book, which is a great book. I'd have to look up the actual
- 22:55title of it, but yeah. Yeah.
- 22:57Definitely. We'll put a link in the description. Yeah.
- 23:00Yeah. And as is a link in the description right now for Eric Wofford's Kroll,
- 23:05the unofficial film companion. Lots of cool interviews.
- 23:09And you can try at home and make the I haven't yet confirmed.
- 23:14But I'm going to attempt to make a Glaive donor.
- 23:18Yeah. Just to say I tried and failed. Either way, it'll hopefully go down well. It's a donor.
- 23:27But this is full of great stuff. You've got Nick Maley in here.
- 23:31Oh, yeah. He was a great interview.
- 23:34Yeah. The White Slayer was a great interview to read, too. I enjoyed that one.
- 23:39Alan Church, optical camera operator, who, of course, did the really cool title sequence stuff.
- 23:47Yeah. The other cool thing was about an analysis of the, I enjoyed,
- 23:52too, was the analysis of from script to screen to novel,
- 23:55the journey of the crawl paperback by
- 23:58uh alan dean foster that was it yes i'm
- 24:02glad you brought that up because i actually just messed that up so i
- 24:04talked to alan dean foster about interviewing
- 24:08him in more detail he was the one who sold me his book stanford sherman all
- 24:13right yeah the screen the screenwriter of the film i mean yeah i believe he
- 24:17actually someone thought he passed away i can never find any contact information
- 24:23for him but i wanted to ask him about ice pirates too another Yeah,
- 24:26that's what I was saying.
- 24:27That would be a great interview just to say, look, you, Kroll and Ice Pirates, it's kind of like his.
- 24:33Yeah, I mean, those are some bonkers off the wall movies, which I love.
- 24:38And yeah, I was never able to get in touch with him. I found someone who knew,
- 24:42who knew, it was like a friend of his.
- 24:44I can't remember who it was now, but I want to say that he either passed away or wasn't doing well.
- 24:48But yeah, I was never able to get in touch with him. Yeah. Yeah.
- 24:53It would have been, like, forget Crow related too.
- 24:56Yeah, I would have asked him a lot of ice pyro's questions.
- 25:01Yeah, for sure. You'd have to. But yeah, no, I had heard that he had passed on.
- 25:07And when I spoke to Ron Silverman actually asked me, because I brought it up
- 25:11too, I said, Stanford Sherman, you know, tell me what you remember about Stanford
- 25:15Sherman. You're really interesting.
- 25:17And he says, yeah, I've been, Ron Silverman said, yeah, Yeah,
- 25:21I've been trying to get a hold of him.
- 25:23And I said, oh, it says on this one particular thing that he died.
- 25:26I forget the date. It's on there. I think it's on his IMDb page.
- 25:30Okay. Not that IMDb is always accurate, but.
- 25:34No, pretty good. It does have a date of death on there. Oh, yeah.
- 25:37Whether that's true or not is anyone's guess.
- 25:41But, yeah, he would have been, yeah, just, I mean, like you say,
- 25:45the longer, the further away they get from these things, the,
- 25:48you know, oh, I don't remember that much or whatever.
- 25:52There may be some times though when you do end up interviewing them,
- 25:56And they sort of start off, well, I don't remember too much.
- 25:59But after that, you start talking about it for a bit. Like I remember I interviewed
- 26:03Gary Daniels regarding one of Albert
- 26:06Pune's films, Nights, with Chris Christopherson and Lance Hendrickson.
- 26:12And he initially said he didn't remember much, but the more we talked about
- 26:16it, he says, oh, now I remember, you know.
- 26:19And then he went away and he found some photos and it was really cool.
- 26:22And yeah, so I said, sometimes, you know, talking about it gets the wheels.
- 26:26Yeah going because sometimes you know when you just throw
- 26:29the question like oh that was 30 years ago
- 26:32or whatever yeah but you know yeah yeah i get the you know you push to the point
- 26:39where you feel like okay no they don't they don't really yeah you know i i reached
- 26:44out to a ton of people i wish i had that list in front of me i've reached out
- 26:47to almost everyone that was cast and crew,
- 26:50extra, PA, it didn't matter.
- 26:54I'd still love to hear what Liam Mason if he would talk with.
- 26:57He was the first person I reached out to and I got a hold of his agent and he
- 27:01said he was busy shooting a movie, which maybe he's Naked Gun,
- 27:04I don't know at the time, because this was probably almost two years ago I started this.
- 27:09And the response was something like, he doesn't have the time, he's on a project.
- 27:14And basically he wasn't too proud of his role in that movie,
- 27:18which i love him in that movie yeah so they
- 27:21he was respectfully declined but uh
- 27:24yeah i reached out to ken i never got in touch
- 27:27with ken marshall but a friend of mine went to that they had
- 27:30something in california oh yeah that convention where they were both there or
- 27:34something yeah and he met with lyzette and anthony and ken marshall pitched
- 27:38him on the interviews i got very close to lyzette anthony trying to get her
- 27:42to do the interview i never could get it done but ken marshall was just like
- 27:46nope i'm not in the business anymore i'm not interested he's like i got kind of,
- 27:50treated badly it didn't do a lot of
- 27:53good for my career after that movie so he kind of has a bad taste
- 27:56in his mouth about it but he's a super nice guy
- 27:59but yeah the only person i could never actually
- 28:02find i reached out to his agent as a publicist i even reached out to his son
- 28:06was alan armstrong yeah that would have been good which he's my favorite character
- 28:11torque well in the movie right i never that was the one of the few people i
- 28:14never even got a response back at all so that would have been good he's also good in uh,
- 28:21I like him as the police chief. I really love this Rooka Hale movie called Split
- 28:25Second. Yeah. Yeah. He's the police chief in that.
- 28:29I like him in Braveheart. I don't know. People with tons are a menace.
- 28:35Yeah, I would have loved to interview. I think there's a real possibility,
- 28:40though, that I'll get an updated release of this book.
- 28:46Since it's been published, I think some people are like, oh,
- 28:49he's not going to actually publish it.
- 28:50This is a waste of time but since it's been published i had
- 28:53a couple people that i can't say yet because i'm completely committed
- 28:56that are like oh it did come out i do
- 28:59like that book i've heard good things maybe i will be interviewed so
- 29:02i might have an expanded version of this in the near future hopefully
- 29:05uh-huh well if you want if you want i
- 29:08could i could transcribe i've got the that interview
- 29:12with ron pelman that you could put in there i'm not that's
- 29:15common ron silverman yeah i knew
- 29:17what you're talking about yeah but yeah yeah it could
- 29:21beef it up and and you could probably put you could
- 29:24put in my there my my unmade sequel script
- 29:27as well if you want yeah let's do it hopefully someone
- 29:32will read it and then they'll go yeah yeah yeah yeah heck
- 29:36yeah that'd be awesome oh people
- 29:39have always asked me you know because like people you're a screenwriter you're
- 29:42a fan did you ever like yeah of course of course
- 29:46i've written a sequel of course i know where
- 29:49the story goes right right yeah i mean yeah look it's it's it's handwritten
- 29:55i'd have to type it but you know because you know people people think that that
- 30:01screenwriters only write the when the films come out oh that's the only films
- 30:04that you write you know we write all the time the film's going to get made.
- 30:08But you've got to keep writing.
- 30:13You've got to keep dreaming, especially if you're going to get the job done
- 30:18because as you know now for a fact, these things don't write themselves.
- 30:21These books don't come together on their own.
