- 0:26Speaker 1: defended our freedom for two hundred and fifty years.

- 0:34Speaker 3: Good Wednesday morning.
- 0:35Speaker 4: Sir, nice have you with us in the forty seven
- 0:37Speaker 4: Morning Update, And we've got one big story for you
- 0:39Speaker 4: this morning, and that is the government reopening.
- 0:42Speaker 3: So how is it going to work?
- 0:44Speaker 4: How long is there going to be chaos at America's
- 0:46Speaker 4: airports and the cancelation of flights at record numbers. When
- 0:50Speaker 4: will Americans get paid that work for our government. We've
- 0:54Speaker 4: got those answers for you, But first want to tell
- 0:57Speaker 4: you about our friends over Patriot Mobile. Every so long,
- 1:00Speaker 4: often something happens that reminds us just how fragile our
- 1:03Speaker 4: freedoms are. We can't afford to take our rights for granted.
- 1:07Speaker 4: We must draw a line in the sand and our
- 1:09Speaker 4: friends at Patriot Mobile have been doing just that for
- 1:13Speaker 4: more than twelve years. The truth is there is only
- 1:16Speaker 4: one provider that boldly stands in the gap for Americans
- 1:20Speaker 4: who believe freedom is worth fighting for, and that company
- 1:23Speaker 4: is Patriot Mobile. Not only are they leading the red economy,
- 1:27Speaker 4: they're also outpacing the competition and technology. Patriot Mobile is

- 2:06Speaker 4: about five percent of your bill is given back to
- 2:08Speaker 4: conservative causes at no extra cost to you that stand
- 2:12Speaker 4: up for our First and our Second Amendment rights, the
- 2:15Speaker 4: rights of unborn children, and are wounded warriors and those
- 2:19Speaker 4: that have fought for a country and wear a badge.

- 2:48Speaker 3: It's a forty seven morning Update and it starts right now.
- 2:52Speaker 2: Story number one.
- 2:53Speaker 4: The government shutdown is over, sort of Democrats caving and
- 2:58Speaker 4: they are finally saying we can open the government again.
- 3:02Speaker 4: This is the longest government shut down in history. But
- 3:05Speaker 4: the real question is for many of you, is well,
- 3:08Speaker 4: when will things actually be reopen? How much chaos is
- 3:12Speaker 4: are going to be in the skies, When will people
- 3:14Speaker 4: start getting their paychecks? Maybe you or your family members
- 3:17Speaker 4: who have been furloughed in essence by our government. Well,
- 3:22Speaker 4: we have a lot of answers to those questions, and
- 3:25Speaker 4: the Speaker of the House, Mike Johnson, called Republicans and
- 3:28Speaker 4: Democrats back to Washington to vote on the bill to
- 3:32Speaker 4: get the government back open. Hear all the details of
- 3:36Speaker 4: what Speaker Johnson had to say about moving forward, how
- 3:40Speaker 4: things are going to work.
- 3:41Speaker 5: Very thankful to see you all this morning.
- 3:43Speaker 6: I'm thankful to welcome you to what appears to be
- 3:47Speaker 6: the beginning of the end of the longest government shutdown
- 3:50Speaker 6: in US history. As shameful as that is, I don't
- 3:53Speaker 6: think it's coincidental, you know how I think. But it's
- 3:56Speaker 6: after forty days of wandering in the wilderness and making
- 3:59Speaker 6: the American peace people suffer needlessly, some Senate Democrats finally
- 4:04Speaker 6: have stepped forward to end the pain. It appears to
- 4:06Speaker 6: us this morning that our long national nightmare is finally
- 4:09Speaker 6: coming to an end, and we're grateful for that at
- 4:11Speaker 6: least some Democrats now finally appear ready to do what
- 4:15Speaker 6: Republicans and President Trump and millions of hard working American
- 4:19Speaker 6: people have been asking them to do for weeks. As
- 4:22Speaker 6: we said from the beginning, the people's government cannot be
- 4:25Speaker 6: held hostage to further anyone's political agenda. That was never right,
- 4:31Speaker 6: and shutting down the government never produces anything. It never
- 4:34Speaker 6: has if you study history, and so here we are.
- 4:37Speaker 6: I want to remind everybody this morning of another critical
- 4:40Speaker 6: point that you've heard me here repeat over and over
- 4:43Speaker 6: over the last several weeks. It's something that I and
- 4:46Speaker 6: Leader John Thune and President Trump and every Republican leader
- 4:50Speaker 6: have all said repeatedly from the beginning, we have always
- 4:53Speaker 6: been open to finding solutions to reduce the oppressive costs
- 4:58Speaker 6: of health care under the Unaffordable Care Act. We just
- 5:02Speaker 6: made clear that we would not and should not ever
- 5:04Speaker 6: do that that is negotiate as hostages. And I've also
- 5:08Speaker 6: reminded you here every morning at this press conference. Throughout
- 5:11Speaker 6: the shutdown, Republicans have not just been talking about reducing
- 5:14Speaker 6: costs and fraud and abuse in so many areas and
- 5:18Speaker 6: in healthcare. We've been actually passing new laws to accomplish
- 5:22Speaker 6: that urgent mission for the people, and we will continue
- 5:25Speaker 6: to do so. So here's where we are by way
- 5:27Speaker 6: of schedule, just so you know you're following, if you're
- 5:29Speaker 6: not at home, if you're waking up to this good
- 5:31Speaker 6: news this morning that the Senate's vote last late last
- 5:35Speaker 6: night of.
- 5:35Speaker 5: Sixty to forty opens the door.
- 5:37Speaker 6: Now the Senate is moving forward on an amended House
- 5:41Speaker 6: cr continuing Resolution that will reopen the government until January thirtieth.
- 5:46Speaker 6: Added to that are provisions to fully fund snap provisions
- 5:50Speaker 6: through the end of the next fiscal year, which is
- 5:51Speaker 6: September twenty twenty six, guaranteed back pay for all federal
- 5:56Speaker 6: workers who have been made to endure these hardships over
- 5:59Speaker 6: the last several weeks. And it also includes passage of
- 6:01Speaker 6: three appropriations bills, which we're grateful to be.
- 6:04Speaker 5: Moving through the process.
- 6:05Speaker 6: That is the Military Construction, Veterans Affairs Bill, It's the
- 6:09Speaker 6: Agriculture Bill, and the Legislative Branch Bill. The Senate will
- 6:12Speaker 6: be back in session this morning to finish their job,
- 6:15Speaker 6: and we're certainly praying that they do. They'll need unanimous
- 6:18Speaker 6: consent from all senators to fast track their final vote.
- 6:21Speaker 6: As you know, there's some procedural hurdles that one or
- 6:24Speaker 6: more could throw in the way, but we certainly hope
- 6:26Speaker 6: that they won't do that because so many people across
- 6:30Speaker 6: this country are desperate for the government to reopen. At
- 6:33Speaker 6: the very moment that they do that final vote, I
- 6:36Speaker 6: will call all House members to return to Washington as
- 6:40Speaker 6: quickly as possible. We'll give a thirty six hour formal
- 6:43Speaker 6: and official notice, so that we can vote as soon
- 6:46Speaker 6: as possible to pass the amendedcy Our Bill and get
- 6:48Speaker 6: it to the President's desk. As you all know, and
- 6:50Speaker 6: he said as recently as last night, I was with
- 6:52Speaker 6: him and he told the press he said, we want
- 6:55Speaker 6: to get the government open. He's very anxious to get
- 6:57Speaker 6: the government reopened and to end the Schumer shutdown. All
- 7:00Speaker 6: are with regard to the travel challenges. I spoke yesterday
- 7:03Speaker 6: at some link with the Transportation Secretary of Sean Duffy,
- 7:05Speaker 6: my former colleague and good friend, and he lamented the
- 7:09Speaker 6: serious situation that we have with air travel in the US.
- 7:11Speaker 6: He's bent over backwards, as all members of the administration
- 7:14Speaker 6: and the Cabinet have done in all of their areas
- 7:16Speaker 6: of jurisdiction, to try to keep the government working for
- 7:18Speaker 6: the people and to mitigate the pain and the harm.
- 7:21Speaker 6: But the problem we have with air travel is that
- 7:23Speaker 6: our air traffic controllers are overworked and unpaid, and many
- 7:26Speaker 6: of them have called in sick. That's a very stressful job,
- 7:29Speaker 6: and even more stressful exponentially when they're having trouble providing
- 7:32Speaker 6: for their families. And so air travel has been grinded
- 7:36Speaker 6: to a halt in many places, and as of Sunday,
- 7:39Speaker 6: nearly half of all domestic flights and US flights were
- 7:42Speaker 6: either canceled or delayed.
- 7:44Speaker 5: And it's a very serious situation.
- 7:45Speaker 6: So I'm saying that by way of reminder, I'm stating
- 7:48Speaker 6: the obvious to all my colleagues, Republicans and Democrats in
- 7:51Speaker 6: the House.
- 7:52Speaker 5: You need to begin right now, returning to the Hill.
- 7:55Speaker 5: We have to do this as quickly as possible.
- 7:56Speaker 6: Now we look forward to the government reopening this week's
- 8:00Speaker 6: so Congress can get back can get back to our
- 8:02Speaker 6: a regular legislative session. We have a lot of business
- 8:05Speaker 6: to do, as you all know, and we will be
- 8:07Speaker 6: working in earnest will be There'll be long days and
- 8:10Speaker 6: long nights here for the foreseeable future to make up
- 8:13Speaker 6: for all this lost time that was imposed upon us.
- 8:16Speaker 6: I want to close with something that's important. I think
- 8:19Speaker 6: it's important to say that this is genuine. I mean
- 8:22Speaker 6: this sincerely. We applaud the seven Senate Democrats and one
- 8:25Speaker 6: independent Senator who did the right thing. They decided to
- 8:30Speaker 6: put principle over their their personal politics and and my
- 8:34Speaker 6: urgent plea of all my colleagues in the House, and
- 8:36Speaker 6: that means every Democrat in the House is to to think, carefully, pray,
- 8:41Speaker 6: and finally do the right thing and help us to
- 8:44Speaker 6: bring an end to the pain of the American people.
- 8:46Speaker 6: This has gone on too long. Too many people have
- 8:48Speaker 6: suffered and it's long overdue. And that's the update I
- 8:51Speaker 6: wanted to give you this morning. There are probably lots
- 8:53Speaker 6: of questions, but I'm going to get a lot of
- 8:55Speaker 6: my own questions answered later today, so stay tuned for more.
- 8:58Speaker 5: Thanks.
- 8:58Speaker 4: So there it is a Speaker of the House explaining
- 9:00Speaker 4: exactly how this is going to go down and how
- 9:03Speaker 4: quickly we could see things turn back to normal.
- 9:07Speaker 3: It's going to be a little chilly, but I will
- 9:09Speaker 3: do my duty.
- 9:09Speaker 4: I'm getting back to DC and we're going to open
- 9:12Speaker 4: this country back up and get it back on track.
- 9:15Speaker 4: That is another aspect of what has been said by
- 9:18Speaker 4: many Republicans are saying, hey, we've got thousands of flights
- 9:21Speaker 4: canceled in recent days to the shutdown. Some lawmakers opted
- 9:25Speaker 4: for the modes of translation to the Capitol like they're
- 9:27Speaker 4: actually driving. One Republican representative, Derek Van Orden, said he
- 9:32Speaker 4: was making the sixteen hour drive from his Wisconsin district
- 9:35Speaker 4: because air travel is just too unreliable.
- 9:37Speaker 3: And the Republican controlled House is.
- 9:39Speaker 4: Due to vote Wednesday afternoon on a compromise that would
- 9:43Speaker 4: restore funding the government agencies and into shutdown that start
- 9:46Speaker 4: on October one. The Republican controlled Senate approved the deal
- 9:50Speaker 4: Monday night. House Speaker Johnson said he expected to be
- 9:53Speaker 4: pass his chamber as well, and then President Donald Trump
- 9:57Speaker 4: has come out calling the deal very good. Expected to
- 10:00Speaker 4: obviously sign it into law immediately. Now, within days, the
- 10:03Speaker 4: US government could be fully functioning again, bring relief to
- 10:07Speaker 4: federal workers who have missed paychecks and low income families
- 10:10Speaker 4: who defend on food subsidies as well. It could take
- 10:13Speaker 4: several days. And this is the problem so many have
- 10:16Speaker 4: asked me about this. It could take several days for
- 10:18Speaker 4: the nation's air travel system to return to normal. The deal,
- 10:22Speaker 4: by the way, which has divided Democrats because they love
- 10:25Speaker 4: holding you hostage, had sought to extend healthcare substias for
- 10:28Speaker 4: twenty four million Americans past the end of the year
- 10:31Speaker 4: when they were due to expire. Now this also tells
- 10:33Speaker 4: you just how broken Obama here is that these types
- 10:36Speaker 4: of substas are actually needed.
- 10:39Speaker 3: Yesterday, it was very interesting on CNN.
- 10:41Speaker 4: One of the things that was said there on CNN
- 10:44Speaker 4: about the subsidies was that they were talking about like
- 10:47Speaker 4: how much they'd actually gone up, like how much the
- 10:49Speaker 4: subsetas had skyrocketed, And you just kind of have to laugh.
- 10:54Speaker 4: When you see that Anavar has said, quote, American healthcare
- 10:58Speaker 4: premiums are going up one hundred two hundred three hundred percent.
- 11:02Speaker 4: I thought Obamacare fixed that.
- 11:04Speaker 3: It didn't. It didn't fix it. It's a disaster.
- 11:07Speaker 4: It's going to be another thing that could easily bankrupt
- 11:10Speaker 4: this country.
- 11:11Speaker 3: You want to know why we're in so much debt right.
- 11:13Speaker 4: Now when you have premiums in Obamacare going up again.
- 11:17Speaker 4: I want to make sure I quote on Navarro correctly
- 11:20Speaker 4: one hundred two hundred three hundred percent.
- 11:22Speaker 3: Obamacare is an utter disaster.
- 11:24Speaker 4: It is a total disaster, and everyone knows it. By
- 11:29Speaker 4: the way, like this is not something that's hard to
- 11:32Speaker 4: figure out. It is very easy to understand that this
- 11:37Speaker 4: is going to bankrupt us. So there's going to have
- 11:40Speaker 4: to be reform with Obamacare. There's no way around it. Okay,
- 11:45Speaker 4: Like there's just no way around it. We have to
- 11:49Speaker 4: have major reform here, and if we don't, then it
- 11:51Speaker 4: will continue to be a political football and it will
- 11:54Speaker 4: continue to be a political disaster. And Democrats knew this.
- 11:58Speaker 4: I go back to what did it and Nancy Pelosi
- 12:00Speaker 4: say her words, not mine. We won't know what's in
- 12:04Speaker 4: the bill until we pass the bill, and that is
- 12:07Speaker 4: Obamacare summed up perfectly. We won't know what's in the
- 12:10Speaker 4: bill until we pass the bill, and so when we
- 12:13Speaker 4: pass the bill, we'll figure it out later. It's just
- 12:16Speaker 4: a big old government subsidy. That's all it is. It's
- 12:19Speaker 4: just a government subsidy. One other thing I want to
- 12:23Speaker 4: say about this government shutdown. I think it also tells
- 12:25Speaker 4: you just how bloated our government is. The majority of
- 12:29Speaker 4: americans lives have really not been affected at all by
- 12:33Speaker 4: the government shutdown. I think that's actually pretty incredible that
- 12:38Speaker 4: we think our government is just so important and in
- 12:41Speaker 4: reality it's really not. It's just not Our government has
- 12:46Speaker 4: gotten way too big, and our government should be a
- 12:49Speaker 4: lot smaller.
- 12:50Speaker 3: Than it actually is.
- 12:52Speaker 4: Right now, all right, don't forget share this show, Share
- 12:54Speaker 4: the podcast wherever you can. We'll keep you updated on
- 12:58Speaker 4: the government shutdown, what's happened with the government shutdown obviously,
- 13:02Speaker 4: as we're going to continue to see.
