- 1:43Speaker 1: I added that Holly and philanthropists please welcome the Money
- 1:47Speaker 1: Making Conversations. Holly Robinson pe good morning, Rashawn. I'm think
- 1:53Speaker 1: I think Money Making Conversations is the show I need
- 1:56Speaker 1: to be on on a Monday morning. I'm just saying, well,
- 1:59Speaker 1: you know the thing about reason I appreciate you because
- 2:01Speaker 1: when I first started this on my Facebook, a couple
- 2:03Speaker 1: of years ago. I used to I used to send
- 2:05Speaker 1: it and used to share my little post. You share
- 2:09Speaker 1: and you help me get the word out. And because
- 2:11Speaker 1: you believe it. Now you're on the radio, on the
- 2:14Speaker 1: radio talking about you know, I'm gonna sendicate. You know
- 2:16Speaker 1: how I am this money made conversation. You know I'm
- 2:19Speaker 1: gonna sendicate. You know I'm gonna get my everything. Everybody
- 2:21Speaker 1: just looking and celebrities calling, they calling Roshan he helping
- 2:24Speaker 1: out regular people. You know, you know I'm about the money. Now. Well,
- 2:29Speaker 1: here's the thing with Sean. You're always there for everybody.
- 2:32Speaker 1: Thank you always you always have that. And you know
- 2:35Speaker 1: I've been doing this first a minute or two. They
- 2:37Speaker 1: actually just had some big celebration for twenty one jump
- 2:40Speaker 1: set thirty years and was on so don't bring up
- 2:46Speaker 1: to it. You know. That's when you know, you know,
- 2:49Speaker 1: you know, wasn't that many black people with TV back
- 2:51Speaker 1: then either, you know what I'm saying, And yo, little
- 2:53Speaker 1: I gotta say, this fine behind was on TV and
- 2:58Speaker 1: all I can think about, Well, that's somebody I can't date.
- 3:01Speaker 1: That's somebody. That's somebody who is this woman? Okay, okay, okay,
- 3:07Speaker 1: before I get started Hodge. Mom great. Mom is great.
- 3:11Speaker 1: She's eighty one and dating, so that's an issue. Yeah,
- 3:16Speaker 1: brother over here the other day, but she did live
- 3:17Speaker 1: with us. OK, let's explain who mom is. Yeah, so
- 3:20Speaker 1: her name is Dolores Robinson. But she's not more than
- 3:23Speaker 1: just my mom. She started out in this business you're
- 3:26Speaker 1: talking about moneymaking in vour. You got divorced from my
- 3:30Speaker 1: father and was like, I'm moving from Philly to Malibu.
- 3:33Speaker 1: We were like, what, Like, I'm packing my bags up
- 3:35Speaker 1: and for a better life than going to brand my life.
- 3:39Speaker 1: She had five hundred dollars and a dag On Hamster
- 3:42Speaker 1: in the car and me and my brother he reinvented.
- 3:46Speaker 1: And she's just really a phenomenal woman, a real pioneer.
- 3:50Speaker 1: And uh, I'm really proud of her. You know, you
- 3:52Speaker 1: know the deal I know because you know, you know
- 3:54Speaker 1: a lot of people give me, you know, because what
- 3:56Speaker 1: I did with Steve Harvey managing in his career, but
- 3:58Speaker 1: your mom is the and that gave me inspiration because
- 4:02Speaker 1: you have to look at you have to look at
- 4:03Speaker 1: something somebody had half to have done it first. You know,
- 4:06Speaker 1: somebody just started fire before everybody started lighting fires. You
- 4:09Speaker 1: know what I'm saying, stay with the car. And so
- 4:12Speaker 1: your mom was in there, not just dealing with just
- 4:14Speaker 1: minority everybody. She's dealing with everybody, all the deals and
- 4:18Speaker 1: all this stuff because a lot of times when you
- 4:19Speaker 1: represent the minority town, you know, the big agencies won't
- 4:22Speaker 1: touch you, and so you gotta have somebody who believes
- 4:25Speaker 1: in you and has the world. Though when I said where,
- 4:28Speaker 1: I thought, I'm start of the legal paperwork. Now defended
- 4:31Speaker 1: also has that poker face. You didn't get the money
- 4:33Speaker 1: that you deserve. It's amazing. So you know, every time
- 4:36Speaker 1: I talk to her, she's always talking about something. Now,
- 4:39Speaker 1: she's a producer on your reality show on own, isn't she?
- 4:42Speaker 1: She is? And she's also a she you know, she
- 4:46Speaker 1: just knows, like you said, the name of the game.
- 4:48Speaker 1: She was managing UH and producing long before I got
- 4:51Speaker 1: into the game in UH in the late eighties. UM,
- 4:55Speaker 1: and so she knows. Yeah. So she's an amazing soundboard.
- 4:58Speaker 1: But she's somebody who has seen it all. You mentioned
- 5:01Speaker 1: that she managed a really a collected group of people,
- 5:05Speaker 1: everyone from Wesley Snipes LaVar Burton was her first client
- 5:09Speaker 1: when roots in and that's how long she far back.
- 5:12Speaker 1: She goes and she didn't know what she was doing. Rashaan,
- 5:14Speaker 1: she just she faked it. So she made it and
- 5:16Speaker 1: she she is somebody who was the high up on
- 5:18Speaker 1: the list of mine inspirations, and so she's been really
- 5:23Speaker 1: you know as I go into you know, I'm now
- 5:26Speaker 1: a certain age and you know, I'm producing and doing
- 5:29Speaker 1: things that I wanted to do. And she's a perfect
- 5:31Speaker 1: person to bounce off of. You. Are you your children,
- 5:35Speaker 1: if you're Rodney's children's going to entertainment or well a
- 5:40Speaker 1: couple of them wanted to when they were younger, commercial
- 5:43Speaker 1: things like that, and I pushed back, just like my
- 5:46Speaker 1: dad pushed back when my dad was original Gordon on
- 5:49Speaker 1: Sesame Street, so he started that soft. He was the
- 5:52Speaker 1: first guy walked down the street, brother with big artist
- 5:55Speaker 1: Gilmore's sideburns. No, I just dated myself, but he was
- 6:01Speaker 1: his brother that you know, started a whole genre. And
- 6:04Speaker 1: he didn't want me. I wanted to be on the show.
- 6:05Speaker 1: Of course I did. It was Sesfy Street. I was five.
- 6:08Speaker 1: Everybody in my neighborhood silly got to go on, but me,
- 6:11Speaker 1: so I kept telling him I want to go on,
- 6:12Speaker 1: and he finally gave in. I went up to New
- 6:15Speaker 1: York to be on Tessey Street. I had one line
- 6:17Speaker 1: and I blew my one line. I was supposed to
- 6:18Speaker 1: say Hi Gordon, but I kept saying Hi Daddy. But
- 6:22Speaker 1: the point of what I was trying to say is
- 6:24Speaker 1: that he didn't want you from Stump when they gave
- 6:32Speaker 1: me a list of things to talk about. Now, clothing
- 6:35Speaker 1: line wasn't on it. Oh we'll see. Because because you're
- 6:39Speaker 1: thinking like a manager and I'm thinking like I'm just
- 6:42Speaker 1: going to go on and talk to my buddy, You're like, no, no,
- 6:45Speaker 1: she has things that she's doing. No, no, you always
- 6:47Speaker 1: have things you're doing. But their clothing line powerful. Now
- 6:50Speaker 1: I want to talk about that, because you know, we're
- 6:52Speaker 1: gonna push the on and for Pete's sake and all
- 6:55Speaker 1: that stuff. But let's talk about this clothing line that
- 6:57Speaker 1: you launched last summer. Yes, so I launched it last summer.
- 7:00Speaker 1: It's HRP like my initials. Obviously, it's on e Vine
- 7:04Speaker 1: Live exclusively for Evine Live not Evine is one of
- 7:06Speaker 1: the shopping networks. Um, and it is on you know,
- 7:11Speaker 1: just look it up E V I N E and UM.
- 7:14Speaker 1: So they're really coming out. They's got a big infusion
- 7:16Speaker 1: of money from from many investors about eight months ago.
- 7:20Speaker 1: So um, I am one of their celebrity designers. Vanessa
- 7:25Speaker 1: Williams is on there as well. Evin Longoria's is on
- 7:28Speaker 1: there as well. And um very casual line. You know,
- 7:31Speaker 1: I do my red carpets and stuff, but most of
- 7:33Speaker 1: the time I'm home in sweats and running, you know,
- 7:37Speaker 1: managing this family. And so it's a great line, very comfortable,
- 7:41Speaker 1: very affordable. The price points had to be affordable. I
- 7:44Speaker 1: couldn't I couldn't go to my people people have you know,
- 7:48Speaker 1: had in my life, followers fans for thirty something years
- 7:51Speaker 1: with some stuff they couldn't afford. I want to be
- 7:54Speaker 1: able to say, by the whole line, you like that color,
- 7:56Speaker 1: you can get all three. Uh So that was very important.
- 7:59Speaker 1: So this line is doing very well. I go to
- 8:01Speaker 1: Minneapolis and shoot the live shows. I'm learning. It's a
- 8:06Speaker 1: learning process. Stopping network muscle is a different one. There's
- 8:10Speaker 1: a lot of energy. You gotta be you gotta keep
- 8:13Speaker 1: the energy up, you gotta you gotta act like this
- 8:15Speaker 1: is the greatest things to slice bread. Yeah, and Rashaan,
- 8:18Speaker 1: there's all these you know, catchphrases, keywords. It's a whole business.
- 8:24Speaker 1: So I'm relearning that business. And that's what I want
- 8:26Speaker 1: to say to anybody that's listening. You know, I've been
- 8:28Speaker 1: doing this a long time. I'm over fifty now, and
- 8:31Speaker 1: you know people are like, oh, you're an actual. You
- 8:32Speaker 1: gotta keep reinventing and relearning. You have to keep relearning
- 8:36Speaker 1: new skill sets and new new economic streams in your life.
- 8:40Speaker 1: It's never too late. Well, you know that's what the
- 8:42Speaker 1: whole purpose of money making conversations about, and what I
- 8:45Speaker 1: did want to do. Just come over this, come on
- 8:47Speaker 1: the radio with you and interview you and only talk
- 8:49Speaker 1: about TV because I know this is a stream that's
- 8:52Speaker 1: important to your future because it's making money while you're sleeping.
- 8:55Speaker 1: And that's the goal of life. To make money wife sleeping.
- 8:58Speaker 1: That's right, that is the goal, um And unfortunately, unfortunately,
- 9:03Speaker 1: you know, life requires several income streams. You just can't
- 9:07Speaker 1: have one. Those days are over. I don't care who
- 9:10Speaker 1: you're married to or what. You have to protect yourself
- 9:12Speaker 1: and you have to have that, Like you said, money
- 9:15Speaker 1: when you're sleeping. You have to have that. You need
- 9:19Speaker 1: to wake up and go how much money that make
- 9:21Speaker 1: up today? And then we have to teach our kids that,
- 9:25Speaker 1: you know, financial literacy is something that we didn't I
- 9:28Speaker 1: didn't learn in school, so we're not teaching our kids
- 9:33Speaker 1: that financial literacy. And now, um, you know, my kids
- 9:36Speaker 1: are online banking. They see what they're making, they see
- 9:40Speaker 1: the interest, they understand that. It's really hilarious explaining taxes
- 9:43Speaker 1: to them. They're like, wait, they take how much? That's
- 9:46Speaker 1: what people don't know. Oh, my kids are like I'm like, say,
- 9:49Speaker 1: guess what. See that little paycheck. My son is working
- 9:51Speaker 1: for the Dodgers now that Los Angeles does great job, amazing.
- 9:55Speaker 1: He has special needs, so it's a huge thing for
- 9:58Speaker 1: him to be The special needs unemployment rate is somewhere around.
- 10:02Speaker 1: This is a big deal. Young black man. He gets
- 10:06Speaker 1: that paycheck, He's looking at us all these acronyms. He's like, mommy,
- 10:09Speaker 1: what does that mean? I was like, don what this means?
- 10:13Speaker 1: Google that. But I have to explain to him the
- 10:17Speaker 1: one lesson that I did that I didn't know coming up,
- 10:21Speaker 1: that when you make a check and the check is
- 10:23Speaker 1: for a thousand dollars, you've only made five absolutely absolutely
- 10:27Speaker 1: and be happy you made it because you're working. You're working. Now,
- 10:30Speaker 1: let's now this drives us over to the TV show.
- 10:32Speaker 1: Let me get through why they called the TV show
- 10:34Speaker 1: on which I love you know, for a peace sake
- 10:36Speaker 1: the family, because you'll tell us of a Holly holl
- 10:39Speaker 1: I'm gonna get, I'm gonna get I'm gonna get a car,
- 10:41Speaker 1: thank you call for Holly Roddation, get a Christmas cars
- 10:44Speaker 1: on all the Family. And then when last year I
- 10:47Speaker 1: got a call said I think I missed you yere,
- 10:50Speaker 1: it is called so tells people about the show. And
- 10:53Speaker 1: also we're gonna have to tag the Holly d the
- 10:55Speaker 1: Holly Rod Foundation between the car and her husband. So
- 10:58Speaker 1: let's talk about TV show RiPP okay for the all
- 11:00Speaker 1: for pete sake, it's a family reality show. When we
- 11:02Speaker 1: pitched it a couple of years ago to the own
- 11:04Speaker 1: network and other networks, you pitched it as runs House
- 11:07Speaker 1: meets Blackish. It was kind of like a keep it
- 11:10Speaker 1: real black folks in a mostly white neighborhood. But we
- 11:13Speaker 1: keep it real. My mom is in it, my brother
- 11:16Speaker 1: is in it. We we really have um talked about
- 11:19Speaker 1: some real topics, honest topics, everything from obviously autism, special needs, Parkinson's,
- 11:25Speaker 1: my husband's issues, post football, chronic traumatics except a lotopy
- 11:29Speaker 1: which is c t E and we went there. We've
- 11:31Speaker 1: gone to some pretty we haven't stayed on the safe topics. Um,
- 11:34Speaker 1: we talked about autism and the police. How do we
- 11:37Speaker 1: keep our young people with special needs safe on the
- 11:39Speaker 1: streets from law enforcement? How do we train them? So
- 11:42Speaker 1: I'm very very happy with the content we had this year.
- 11:45Speaker 1: We're in that moment. You've been there a million times
- 11:47Speaker 1: for genre. We find out if we get picked up.
- 11:50Speaker 1: So y'all go ahead on and and tagged the own network,
- 11:53Speaker 1: tell him that you like for pete sake, tell them
- 11:54Speaker 1: that it's okay to have a family reality show that's positive. Well,
- 11:57Speaker 1: you know, you're not gonna be throwing they're not on dishes,
- 12:00Speaker 1: they're not spanking their kids, and they're not cussing. Well,
- 12:04Speaker 1: there's a little bit of custom. But but Rashaan, you
- 12:09Speaker 1: know when we first pitched it, people, oh, it's gonna
- 12:13Speaker 1: be too sweet. It's just you know, it's not ratchet enough. Well,
- 12:16Speaker 1: we really fly. We can make entertainment that's positive, uh
- 12:20Speaker 1: and and entertaining. Cool. They wrap you up. But I
- 12:24Speaker 1: need to talk about the Holly Foundation because Sean, thank
- 12:29Speaker 1: you for being such a support. So Hollyrod supports Parkinson's
- 12:32Speaker 1: and autism families. My dad had parkinsis my son as
- 12:35Speaker 1: autism UM, and we support them. We help them find
- 12:38Speaker 1: jobs UM, much like RJ has a job, and we
- 12:43Speaker 1: explain to people what autism is. So autism is a
- 12:45Speaker 1: developmental disorder that really impacts how someone communicates mostly UM.
- 12:51Speaker 1: And autism is a disorder. It's a spectrum disorder, which
- 12:54Speaker 1: means it could be a wide range of things. So
- 12:57Speaker 1: for everybody, autism is not the same for most kids,
- 13:00Speaker 1: and for most children they cannot have a hard time
- 13:03Speaker 1: communicating and they're disconnected. That causes all kinds of issues.
- 13:07Speaker 1: But just because my son when he was non verbal,
- 13:09Speaker 1: tells me, just because UM, I can respond to you,
- 13:12Speaker 1: doesn't mean I couldn't hear you. Big that. So we
- 13:15Speaker 1: as a family decided we were we wanted to let
- 13:18Speaker 1: people know, UM what it was like to raise a
- 13:20Speaker 1: kid with autism. And that was one of the important
- 13:22Speaker 1: parts about for Pete's sake, was showing that because if
- 13:24Speaker 1: I had seen and r J when my son was three,
- 13:28Speaker 1: I would have had a lot more hope. Right now, now,
- 13:31Speaker 1: tell them what the foundation does. So what we do
- 13:33Speaker 1: is we we raise funds to support families impacted by
- 13:36Speaker 1: autism and Parkinson's with compassionate care. So that is in
- 13:40Speaker 1: the form of several programs, whether we whether they're are
- 13:44Speaker 1: programs to help families and Parkinson's get treatment that they
- 13:47Speaker 1: wouldn't be able to get because they don't have Medicare
- 13:49Speaker 1: and they're waiting on something. For the autism peace we
- 13:52Speaker 1: do things like UM closed down whole aquariums and museums
- 13:56Speaker 1: just for autism families. We UM have an preplecational program,
- 14:01Speaker 1: we have an iPad program to help them. Hey, so
- 14:04Speaker 1: we do several different programs and we're just really throw
- 14:07Speaker 1: We just did one in Chicago where we shut down
- 14:09Speaker 1: the Shed Aquarium and we invited um uh like two
- 14:12Speaker 1: thousand autism families and we just you know, it's not
- 14:16Speaker 1: about normalizing it for Sean, but it's about people understanding
- 14:19Speaker 1: what it is. And then we got to get corporations
- 14:21Speaker 1: to hire our kids. Well, that's key, and that's why
- 14:23Speaker 1: I want to make sure that you know, you know,
- 14:25Speaker 1: they're doing that big wind up finger, but there's no
- 14:27Speaker 1: way it's something you know, it's important, and it's also
- 14:30Speaker 1: that's why I wants you to educate people because a
- 14:33Speaker 1: lot of people, you know, any type of when they
- 14:35Speaker 1: when they say any functional, mental, functional or yeah, they
- 14:38Speaker 1: always think that that person came function in real life
- 14:41Speaker 1: and they kept And that's what this is all about. It.
- 14:43Speaker 1: Let me go back and recite everything. She's my old
- 14:45Speaker 1: time friend. She's still beautiful, She's steal, a fantastic wife,
- 14:49Speaker 1: steal a fantastic mom. Please check out her show for
- 14:52Speaker 1: Pete's sake. On all she has a closing line clothing
- 14:55Speaker 1: line on Evine Right, Evine Live. Please flee. Please check
- 15:01Speaker 1: it out, you know, please check that out. And more importantly,
- 15:04Speaker 1: understand that Holly Holly Rod Foundation is a foundation for
- 15:08Speaker 1: parkinson and autist and she normally believes it, but she
- 15:11Speaker 1: wants to help your children to Congratulations on your awesome show, Sean,
- 15:15Speaker 1: invite me back. I will do, my friend, You know
