- 0:01Hey folks, welcome to our latest episode of Football
- 0:04is Life. Here we come. It's not done, Mike. It's
- 0:07not done. It is not done. I believe in my real
- 0:11captain and he said it's not done. Yes, so he
- 0:14says it's not done. He must be right. We're not
- 0:17going to start there, though. We've had a...
- 0:19Again, who saw this coming? Everybody. Everybody
- 0:24saw this coming. Yes. Well, look, we don't love
- 0:30seeing somebody losing their job, but they do
- 0:35get paid handsomely for losing their job. So
- 0:37it doesn't suck as maybe a regular person losing
- 0:40their job. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. I mean, look, the
- 0:44results were atrocious and there was no question
- 0:49that he was going to go. I'm all in for bringing
- 0:53in and just for the, the, the comedy value, but
- 0:56I don't think that's going to happen. Listen,
- 1:00I'm always all in for bringing in and like, I
- 1:03feel like I just become this like staff and like
- 1:05all the, like any managerial, like, yeah. And
- 1:09any managerial change, like let's bring in and
- 1:10right. I love it. I love it. It's spicy. What
- 1:16do you think they'll get though? Do you think
- 1:17they'll chase Seth Fabregas? He said he was happy
- 1:20where he was, but like, I don't know. Who do
- 1:23you think they get? I don't know. There's rumors
- 1:26of like, what did I hear? I heard a rumor. Who
- 1:29did I hear a rumor about? Wasn't Tuchel coming
- 1:33back. That would be. I think it was Nagelsmann.
- 1:37Nagelsmann was the rumor I heard. Okay. I don't
- 1:41know anything about it. Yeah. I have no opinion
- 1:45on that at all. Yeah, I don't know. Apparently
- 1:49he qualified himself out. I don't know. That's
- 1:51kind of what I heard. But yeah, we'll see. What
- 1:55I do want to say, though, about Liam Rossini
- 1:57is... But David, I just, that's, yeah, he's a...
- 2:08I feel the guy they put in charge is like the...
- 2:12Yeah, you know, it's like the assistant to the
- 2:16regional manager in the office. He's basically
- 2:17Dwight for the American viewers, right? They've
- 2:20had Michael Scott. They've got rid of him. They're
- 2:22David Brent, obviously, for the UK listeners,
- 2:24right? The American and UK office. And they've
- 2:27put the assistant to the regional manager in
- 2:28charge to the end of the season. I'm just like,
- 2:30morons. I text my brother. He's like, it's a
- 2:36shit show. It would be, when you look at their
- 2:41payroll, Like the amount of money that club spends
- 2:45that they can't get. It's just, it's shocking.
- 2:49Like, and again, I, nobody didn't see Racine
- 2:52going. Like he, it was inevitable, but it's just,
- 2:56it's astonishing that, that they can't get the
- 2:59manager thing, right. Or they get it right for
- 3:01a season. And then it just, it goes pear -shaped
- 3:04again. I, you know, bring in Jose again, who
- 3:06knows. God knows me. I think the owners have
- 3:10said they're going to have a reflection and look
- 3:12at themselves and all that. Maybe they should
- 3:16fire themselves too. Look, it's good news for
- 3:19Liverpool. I'll take it. We're happy. Fifth place
- 3:22feels like one horse is out of the race. Yeah,
- 3:27we need to beat Palace at the weekend. So we'll
- 3:31see. Chelsea fans, we'd love to hear what people
- 3:33think about it. The performance against Brighton
- 3:37was... absolutely pathetic. Yes. Rossini did
- 3:41not mention his words after and then was obviously,
- 3:43you know, marched out the door. But yes, there
- 3:48we are. But let's turn focus, Mike, to there's
- 3:50a big game tomorrow night at the Emirates, right?
- 3:52Bukayo Saka is back and available. califiori
- 3:55also back and available no timber unfortunately
- 3:58but yes um a couple of uh major upgrades which
- 4:01now leaves the the headache of who's your front
- 4:04five and what does that look like and all of
- 4:07those things um but yes good that uh that that
- 4:10i think califiori back is also a major help uh
- 4:14in in the back line um but uh yeah ed uh must
- 4:20win must win i i think they will win i think
- 4:23it's two nil When you look at the injuries and
- 4:29the stuff going on on the Newcastle side as well,
- 4:31no Gordon, no Joe Linton. There's a bunch of
- 4:34stuff that I think also helps the cause. So I
- 4:38think Arsenal win 2 -0. And every goal that they
- 4:44score and every goal that they prevent is huge
- 4:47because it's down to three goals between these
- 4:49two teams, between Arsenal and City. Everything
- 4:52is level. except for goals scored. Yes. Will
- 4:58Havertz start again? Probably? Probably. Probably.
- 5:03The experts, when I was looking at a bunch of
- 5:05different stuff for my free hit team, were like
- 5:08Jokeres was like a 20 % chance to start. So I
- 5:11think Havertz starts, yes. Okay. Yeah, and do
- 5:16you think, I mean, you're confident going in.
- 5:20How is the nerves? What's the atmosphere going
- 5:23to be like? Do you think the Emirates gets really
- 5:24up for it, gets really behind? It has to. It
- 5:26has to. This is where I think home matches are
- 5:34supposed to be a fortress. The Emirates hasn't
- 5:37quite been a fortress. But this is about the
- 5:43team rallying, the fans rallying around the team.
- 5:47Couldn't be a better... moment in terms of it's
- 5:52a home match like you've got all the tailwinds
- 5:56you could possibly ask for for a response from
- 5:59a frustrating match away at the Etihad so yes
- 6:06I think that everyone's got a lineup behind this
- 6:09and just the fans carry the team the team gets
- 6:12ignited by that and carries the fans that's what
- 6:15has to happen Okay, what happens if they don't
- 6:19score in the first 15 or 20 minutes? You trust
- 6:23the process. You're home. You're home. You pressed.
- 6:26You pressed, and you do what you did with City
- 6:30against a weaker club, and you win 2 -0. But
- 6:34do you think they'll do that? Yeah, they have
- 6:36to. Yes, I believe they will. Okay. You believe
- 6:41they will because they have to. Yeah. Not because
- 6:44they want to. Okay. Well, they should. They should
- 6:47have been doing it all season, Ross. They should
- 6:49have been doing it all season. They should, yeah.
- 6:52So, look, I mean, this is it now. This is crunch
- 6:56time, right? So they're now not top of the league,
- 6:59you know, in virtue of goals scored for Manchester
- 7:02City. So, yes, you could argue they're now chasing.
- 7:07Like, again, do you think, like... Do you see
- 7:11any jeopardy? You mentioned Newcastle got a couple
- 7:14of key players out, not been in great form. Questions
- 7:18over Eddie Howe's future. Do you see any real
- 7:21jeopardy in this fixture? Or if any jeopardy,
- 7:25where would it come from? So I believe they win.
- 7:31I think the key is whether or not they can keep
- 7:36it. Literally, it's goal differential. So keeping
- 7:40a clean sheet. And so if anything, the fear of
- 7:44making a mistake and conceding and like to, to
- 7:48counter that you've got to play with pace and
- 7:51you've got to play forward and not take the risky
- 7:55play in your defensive third. Like it there's
- 7:58as long as they do those things, they'll be fine.
- 8:04Okay. Okay. So you don't think Newcastle have
- 8:07a. Big performance in them at the Emirates, you
- 8:09know, maybe counterattacking. They've got some
- 8:12players, do they not? I think they're Harvey
- 8:13Barnes. They do have some players, but they also
- 8:15have some key missing players that I think make
- 8:18a difference. Anthony Gordon makes a difference.
- 8:22Gibbon Rice is back though, right? What's that?
- 8:25Gibbon Rice is back. Maybe, yeah. I haven't been
- 8:30following Newcastle all that closely lately,
- 8:33but I can do a little quick searching on that.
- 8:37I'm pretty sure he... Yeah, he's not flagged
- 8:41in the game. So, yeah, he must be back. Yeah,
- 8:44okay. Interesting. Okay, well, I don't know.
- 8:47Let me say it a little bit differently. Of course
- 8:50you do. I do. Well, I think you're being very
- 8:55balanced. I think there could be a nervous Emirates
- 8:58tomorrow night. I do think the first 10 minutes
- 9:02is going to be key. Sure. Yeah, I think Newcastle
- 9:06are quite well equipped to deal with the physicality
- 9:08and the set pieces more as well as probably them
- 9:11in Brentford. Sort of teams you go, they've got
- 9:14a lot of height and physicality in that team.
- 9:18But yes, I mean, look, I don't know. I think
- 9:21the team selection is going to be fascinating
- 9:22with Saka available, Califuri available. Yeah,
- 9:26I don't think either of them start. You don't
- 9:32like Saka. I don't know. If he starts, he's not
- 9:36playing 90. If he starts, he's not playing 90.
- 9:38He's been out forever. He's not match fit. Hmm.
- 9:43Surely he starts him over Madawiki, no? That
- 9:47would be my preference, but if he does, he probably
- 9:51plays 60. Yeah, which I think, yeah, probably
- 9:55feels right. I mean, Odegaard will play. I think
- 9:57it'll be the same. You'd imagine would Eze keep
- 10:00his space in the left wing? It'll be very disappointing
- 10:04if Eze is not on the left. Do you think he won't
- 10:08be? No, he's done nothing to lose his spot. This
- 10:14just comes down to the fact that we're getting
- 10:17all the players in the middle of the pitch healthy
- 10:20again. But I think it should be Saka on the right.
- 10:29Odegaard in the middle, Eze on the left. Okay.
- 10:34With Havertz up top. You think that's what, okay.
- 10:38Yeah. I'd be surprised if he doesn't go with
- 10:40that. I think he'll go pretty strong to start.
- 10:43I think he would, yeah, if Saka is fit. Again,
- 10:46he's available for selection. Like you say, it's
- 10:48hard to know the context of that, right? Like
- 10:50how right he is. If he feels, yeah. properly
- 10:55back he's got no niggle at all i imagine he would
- 10:58start but and it sounds like he was it was the
- 11:02team that said no to him against city that yeah
- 11:06he felt ready and the team said no or yeah i've
- 11:10had to said no so from a it's just match fitness
- 11:15right like you can run on the grass all you want
- 11:17until you've played a bunch of matches it's you
- 11:20and i both know it's no there's a very different
- 11:23thing from match fitness and that There is, there
- 11:26is. Okay, we'll see. Well, look, Man City will
- 11:29be watching on, you know, obviously looking at
- 11:31what's happening at the Emirates. I mean, it
- 11:32feels like I said, the next two games feel like
- 11:34the Arsenal have to win these. You've got to
- 11:36win your home games, right? Yep. So it does feel
- 11:39like... You've got to win them all. You've got
- 11:40to win them all. That's it. They've got to go
- 11:43and do it. And it starts tomorrow again. I mean,
- 11:46they're definitely big favorites. Again, it's
- 11:49not the Newcastle team that have had results
- 11:52against Arsenal. So they've got no Livramento.
- 11:56They've got no Schar. They've got no Gordon.
- 11:59They've got no Joel Linton. Yeah. So, yeah, a
- 12:02few players missed. I feel like they've got –
- 12:04so who will play at the back? It will be Thiao
- 12:07and Bottman. probably yeah yeah and then i mean
- 12:12you've got all you get burn you get trippier
- 12:16i mean there's they certainly have a fair few
- 12:18folks to play at the back but um yeah yeah what
- 12:22they'll play they got but they got tonali and
- 12:24gimorash at midfield with i don't know who they'll
- 12:26put in there with them um with them it's pretty
- 12:29good with field and then i'd imagine it would
- 12:31be probably i would i would imagine yeah i thought
- 12:35maybe murphy murphy and barnes playing the wings
- 12:37no yeah And they're both fit. Yeah. You've got
- 12:42this, uh, and Volta Mata. Like I'm not worried
- 12:45about their strikers. So. Yeah. Okay. Look, I'm
- 12:49looking forward to watching it. It'll be a fascinating
- 12:51watch. Let's see what happens. There'll be a,
- 12:53there'll be, there'll be a reaction from us obviously
- 12:55next week, either way. Uh, but yes, let's, let's
- 12:58turn our attention to the final topic day, which
- 13:01is the relegation fights. There's a game on right
- 13:03now. Yes. By the way. As we record? I can check
- 13:11that. I can check that. Don't say Gibbs White.
- 13:13I almost put him in, but I didn't. Don't say
- 13:15Gibbs White. No, Igor Jesus. Okay, that's good.
- 13:19Oh, actually, so it's your own goal. Igor Jesus
- 13:21with the assist and Hume was the own goal. That's
- 13:25fine. I was very close to Gibbs White as well.
- 13:28That final slot from midfield on the free hit
- 13:31was very tricky. Very tricky indeed. Forrest
- 13:35going good guns. I expect them to get something
- 13:37from that game tonight. I do expect that. They're
- 13:39in good form. It feels like they're four or five
- 13:42points away from safety now. If they win tonight,
- 13:46that would be huge. We then have West Ham playing
- 13:48Everton at home. Then we have Tottenham going
- 13:51to Wolves at the weekend to wrap up the crunch
- 13:54time of the relegation battle. Those two matches
- 13:57happen at the same time. How do you see those
- 14:01two? Let's focus on those two. It does feel more
- 14:05and more as Leeds creep to safety, Forest looking
- 14:08like they are. It's going to be one of the two
- 14:10London clubs that are going to be in the third
- 14:11relegation spot. Do you feel, I mean, look, Everton
- 14:14certainly a more formidable opponent, but West
- 14:17Ham are at home. Spurs, not great at home. They
- 14:19do go away. Maybe that helps them. A Wolves team
- 14:21that are now relegated, nothing to play for.
- 14:25Like, how do you see those two games panning
- 14:27out? Do you see both teams winning? Do we think
- 14:29this is going to be a case of... playing a part
- 14:33or do you think they're going to be cagey? I
- 14:34mean, I feel like the West Ham one could be a
- 14:36bit of a defensive affair, no? Yeah, I think
- 14:40that that could be the case. And then just, oh,
- 14:452 -0 Forest as we record. Not Gibbs White, not
- 14:50Gibbs White. Yeah, I know. I'm going to be cheering
- 14:53against that all week. So I think for the...
- 14:58the west ham game i mean no breath weight for
- 15:00the rest of the season hurts uh defensively i
- 15:04mean that's that's a big loss so i i i think
- 15:09i think it's 2 -1 west ham and i just feel like
- 15:16it's a scene from it and wolves are in the sewer
- 15:20speaking to spurs saying we all float down here
- 15:24and they're gonna they're gonna drag them right
- 15:28on down and i i i'm here for it for like a just
- 15:33an a hideous one one draw that just destroys
- 15:38spurs fans wow wow um i think chris would score
- 15:46by the way yeah uh i'm checking so not not gives
- 15:52white Thank you. Yeah, look, I'm leaning towards
- 15:57West Ham now. As they're being called to get
- 16:01relegated? Yes, I am. For the first time, I think
- 16:07that the fact that they didn't beat Palace was
- 16:09huge. I think they should have beaten a Palace
- 16:11team they don't have a lot to play for. I think
- 16:14that's two points to drop their regret. And I
- 16:16just feel like I think Spurs will win at Wolves.
- 16:19I think West Ham could draw home against Everton.
- 16:22It'll be a close game. And I don't know. I just
- 16:26have this feeling now. I don't know what's changed.
- 16:28If West Ham have got, I think, that two points.
- 16:31Because what's the gap between West Ham and Tottenham
- 16:33at the moment? So West Ham is two points clear.
- 16:42Yeah, so that would have been four. I don't know.
- 16:46I just feel like... This weekend, it could –
- 16:48and then Spurs get a little bit of momentum.
- 16:52But then they go away to Villa next week. I know.
- 16:55I know they do. Yeah, I don't know. I just –
- 16:59yeah, I have a feeling that they might end up
- 17:03just staying up. And, yeah, I don't – I just
- 17:06feel like that West Ham result. Again, if West
- 17:08Ham beat Everton tomorrow and Spurs drop points
- 17:10at Wolves, I think then I feel differently again.
- 17:13But, yeah, just it feels that result. I do think
- 17:16Spurs – will win this weekend. I think West Ham
- 17:19have to win. Yeah, I really do. I think they've
- 17:23got to win or they'll be in big trouble. Yeah,
- 17:26I think they beat a slightly weakened Everton
- 17:30team tomorrow. You think so? I do. Yeah? Yeah.
- 17:34Yeah, I mean, they're at home, you know, and
- 17:36they need to go and win those games. But yeah,
- 17:39I'm not totally convinced. I mean, they do have
- 17:41a rough... They do have – I'll give it to you.
- 17:44West Ham has a tough run in because after that,
- 17:46they go away to Brentford. They're home to Arsenal.
- 17:48They're away to Newcastle, and then they end
- 17:51the season at Leeds – or home to Leeds, home
- 17:53against Leeds. Yeah, that's what I think. I think
- 17:55their run -in is slightly harder. It is harder.
- 17:58I was looking where they get the points. I felt
- 17:59they had to win that game. Probably need to beat
- 18:01Everton. Might need to – I don't know. Yeah,
- 18:05with the Spurs, I could see them getting maybe
- 18:06– six to eight points maybe from their final
- 18:09final games maybe something like that and i don't
- 18:12know west ham i'm looking maybe four or five
- 18:13points maybe i'm look you know i could see a
- 18:16couple of drawings it's three nil the forest
- 18:18gibbs white just scored did he no he didn't yes
- 18:22he did it's three i had him in there i did too
- 18:26i did too and in the last minute i chickened
- 18:29out because i thought i was chasing this i thought
- 18:31i thought suddenly but i was like oh yeah because
- 18:34they're they're destroying them they're 35 minutes
- 18:36in and it's three no yeah um yeah yeah well that's
- 18:40yeah it's a two horse race for relegation that's
- 18:42confirmed for sure for sure yeah um But yes.
- 18:47Okay. Well, interesting. Yeah. Fantasy free hit
- 18:50this week. Lots of people do the free hit like
- 18:52you and you. Yes. Good luck with that. It's too
- 18:55late now to give you any tips. Do anything about
- 18:57it. Yep. Are you, are you playing the last fan
- 18:59standing? No. Oh, see, I'm done. There's 8 ,400
- 19:04of us left and I picked United this week. So
- 19:08we'll see. Okay. Well, yeah. United are home
- 19:12to Brentford. Yeah. Okay. Yeah. Should win that.
- 19:17Should win. It was between them and Liverpool
- 19:20that were my two that I was going between. And
- 19:24I think they both win, but I'm saving the Liverpool
- 19:28pick. Yeah. Okay. So was that on the app? He
- 19:32can do that. Yeah, so on the Premier League website,
- 19:36they kicked off a new game three game weeks ago,
- 19:38and you get one team. You can only pick them
- 19:40once, and you pick each week. And if you make
- 19:44it, you advance to the next. So I don't know
- 19:46how many started, but there's only 8 ,400 players
- 19:48left. Wow. Well, good luck with that, mate. I'm
- 19:52sure knowing you, you will do your research,
- 19:55and you'll probably end up winning it. Yeah,
- 19:57well, we'll see. We'll see. We'll see. We'll
- 20:00see what happens. Yes, okay, well, I think we
- 20:03can leave it at that. Listen, massive, massive
- 20:06game. I can't wait to see how nervous you are
- 20:10if things don't go to plan tomorrow. We were
- 20:14meant to have Billy on. He unfortunately had
- 20:15a clash because Billy does bring some very hot
- 20:18takes from an Arsenal perspective. I'm sure he'll
- 20:21be watching it from behind the couch tomorrow
- 20:23and be less... compo nor do you as composed as
- 20:26you are about it mike as an article fan i don't
- 20:28think well i have to lead by example he is my
- 20:30son so like that's true that is true that's very
- 20:34true so yeah billy's moving we take some a little
- 20:36bit of your positivity and um yeah let's see
- 20:39where we uh where we end up with that but uh
- 20:41but yes listen always igor jesus just scored
- 20:45it is four nil lord of good forest this is it's
- 20:51this is just a battery yeah Wow, that's mad.
- 20:56Well, there we go. Listen, no point in watching
- 21:00the second half now. No, I think this is done.
- 21:02Yeah, maybe it's over. But yes, anyway, look,
- 21:06always good to chat, mate. Enjoy the game tomorrow.
- 21:09And listen, we're going to have to say goodbye
- 21:12to Mr. David Brent. And it's not done. It's not
- 21:19done. It's not done, Mike. It's not done. It's
- 21:22not done. If you lose tomorrow, If you lose tomorrow,
- 21:25it's done. That's why we're not going to lose
- 21:28tomorrow, because it's not done. You heard it
- 21:32here first. Right. We'll catch you next time.
- 21:34Thanks, everyone. Cheers. Au revoir.
