- 0:42Speaker 1: series All the Queen's Men. This season two is up.
- 0:45Speaker 1: I was so mad with season two ended. We're talking
- 0:48Speaker 1: about that. I said, you gotta renew this and they
- 0:51Speaker 1: hurt my prayer. Season two is currently and on BT Plus.
- 0:55Speaker 1: The show follows Madame de Ville de Ville or Start
- 0:59Speaker 1: and then Credible even myself. She's a fierce businesswoman at
- 1:04Speaker 1: the top of her game in the Atlanta nightclub industry
- 1:06Speaker 1: who won't let anyone and I repeat anyone standing away
- 1:10Speaker 1: as she reigns over a crowd of loyal mail dancers.
- 1:14Speaker 1: Sky is a scene stealer as Madame's nephew, an employee
- 1:18Speaker 1: who evolves in the exciting and lecture trying seasons two.
- 1:21Speaker 1: I've seen the first sixth episode. It's really they slowly
- 1:24Speaker 1: developed its character because it's really getting into some relationships.
- 1:27Speaker 1: Not gonna reveal too much because like I said, they're
- 1:29Speaker 1: streaming right now on BT Plus. If you don't have subscription,
- 1:32Speaker 1: slide on it and sign up, because this series is
- 1:35Speaker 1: definitely one worth worth seeing on a regulation and putting
- 1:38Speaker 1: it in your and just tell everybody in real life.
- 1:42Speaker 1: My man Sky also holds a strong passion for producing.
- 1:45Speaker 1: We're gonna talk about that as well as advocating, advocating
- 1:48Speaker 1: for the homeless and impoverished. He's on the show to
- 1:51Speaker 1: tell his story. Please work with the money making conversation
- 1:53Speaker 1: Masterclass Sky, Alvesta Black, How you doing, sir, hey man,
- 1:58Speaker 1: thank you so much for having me with with an
- 2:00Speaker 1: introduction like, well, you know I had to drop two
- 2:03Speaker 1: personal things in there, because you know I have a
- 2:06Speaker 1: relationship with you. When you came on the first time,
- 2:08Speaker 1: you know, we was by the way, thank you, thank you.
- 2:12Speaker 1: I'm happy to have you took the time because you know,
- 2:15Speaker 1: you know, I learned about your dancing career, you were acting.
- 2:18Speaker 1: And now before we really get into the whole conversation
- 2:21Speaker 1: about all the Queens of Men, is why I brought
- 2:23Speaker 1: you on the show. But you're doing more producing, now,
- 2:26Speaker 1: can we talk about that a little bit before we
- 2:28Speaker 1: get into the series, because that gives you a different
- 2:30Speaker 1: eye as an actor when you're doing series, especially with
- 2:35Speaker 1: a mega producer like Tyler Perry. Completely um so, yes,
- 2:40Speaker 1: I am making a huge foray into producing. I just
- 2:45Speaker 1: finished producing an international feature in Haiti and and also Miami,
- 2:51Speaker 1: so that was my first feature film that I was
- 2:55Speaker 1: not only sorry and I was also exactly producing. And
- 2:58Speaker 1: I'll be honest, I got the of man. I love
- 3:02Speaker 1: the development of being on the ground making this story,
- 3:07Speaker 1: making stories, not just this particular story, but stories happen
- 3:12Speaker 1: and understanding and it creates as an actor, creates a
- 3:16Speaker 1: better world for you because you've been there from the beginning,
- 3:19Speaker 1: so you're invested you're invested, um, even more so in
- 3:23Speaker 1: the script because it's kind of like your baby. You've
- 3:26Speaker 1: you've gone out, you've seen the locations, you've created this world,
- 3:30Speaker 1: you know what you wanted to feel like. You have
- 3:32Speaker 1: other creatives with like the director and everything. So I
- 3:36Speaker 1: just felt that in this time, I'll be honest, God
- 3:41Speaker 1: is my number one. So that's the direction I've been
- 3:45Speaker 1: pushed in addition to being privileged enough to be a
- 3:47Speaker 1: leading man. And I have this like burning fire, and
- 3:52Speaker 1: and now I have I think four or five projects
- 3:55Speaker 1: all my slaves like it just is it all failed?
- 3:57Speaker 1: Is it any of the television doc you see? What
- 4:00Speaker 1: are the genres? One docuseries and the rest is film? Okay,
- 4:04Speaker 1: about four films on my slate right now. And what
- 4:08Speaker 1: is the window of production you usually do with your
- 4:10Speaker 1: moving six weeks? Two months? What is it? Uh? Ninety days?
- 4:14Speaker 1: What are the windows of production? So I will say
- 4:17Speaker 1: the first on the last one, I can only speak
- 4:19Speaker 1: to the last one. It was about a month. It
- 4:22Speaker 1: was about a month, and I was in a developing
- 4:24Speaker 1: country city and when you're in when you're in Haiti,
- 4:28Speaker 1: there's a lot of opstations that we actually had to face.
- 4:31Speaker 1: And I love that challenge of that being my first
- 4:35Speaker 1: because it really pushed me beyond my limits. I mean,
- 4:38Speaker 1: we're in a developing country where there's no power. Everything
- 4:42Speaker 1: is running off the generators. Um. We did, how have
- 4:46Speaker 1: a lot of the We did have American crew and
- 4:48Speaker 1: Haitian crew, so it forced me to even learn the language.
- 4:52Speaker 1: I'm an advocate for not going into somebody else's house
- 4:56Speaker 1: and expecting them to acqui as to you in your ways,
- 4:59Speaker 1: But when you go in there house, you ask what
- 5:01Speaker 1: are their rules? What are their regulations? So I was learning, Um,
- 5:06Speaker 1: I was learning the language. I was out there with
- 5:08Speaker 1: the natives, and it was an awesome experience. And as
- 5:14Speaker 1: a producer, it was I would say it was one
- 5:16Speaker 1: of the more challenging experiences because, like again Echo, it
- 5:20Speaker 1: was a developing country. So just imagine when you're filming
- 5:25Speaker 1: and the cold countries aren't at a generator. And so
- 5:28Speaker 1: it took a look at the way their issues in
- 5:31Speaker 1: America filming in production. Did you're gonna run the hiccups
- 5:34Speaker 1: that you're gonna run into. So walking into a foreign
- 5:37Speaker 1: country where you have electricity is limited, battery packs is limited,
- 5:42Speaker 1: the type of experienced crew experienced crew will be laterd
- 5:46Speaker 1: so and and as also, transportation can also be limited
- 5:50Speaker 1: as well. And so when you like that, I was
- 5:52Speaker 1: speaking to the sky invest the Black one of the
- 5:54Speaker 1: stars of All the Queens Men, which is a smash
- 5:57Speaker 1: hit by Tyler Perry. What what the parent doesn't do that?
- 6:00Speaker 1: It's not a smash shit But again as the gifts
- 6:03Speaker 1: to God giving, this series is directed by him, executive
- 6:06Speaker 1: produced by him, and it's airing right now and b
- 6:08Speaker 1: T plus. Now I can relate to what you're saying.
- 6:12Speaker 1: I started my career but the reason mathematics and sociology,
- 6:15Speaker 1: and I let my IBM to pursue a career as
- 6:18Speaker 1: a stand up comedian and I was very successful standing
- 6:20Speaker 1: did the deaf comedy jams all that, very successful and um,
- 6:24Speaker 1: but when I started writing and I started producing, I
- 6:27Speaker 1: felt I had more control of the creator and if
- 6:31Speaker 1: it came more of a team effort, because as an actor,
- 6:33Speaker 1: a lot of times you just giving lines and you directed,
- 6:37Speaker 1: and so you don't really participate in the overall project.
- 6:40Speaker 1: As a producer, you you have never seen, okay, because
- 6:44Speaker 1: you gotta be whatever ever seen. Because sometimes I can
- 6:47Speaker 1: as that scene before the scene started right, because sometime
- 6:50Speaker 1: I could have asked actors and say, oh, well, I
- 6:52Speaker 1: don't I reached at that movie. I was in no
- 6:55Speaker 1: famous with that person. I was no scenes with that person,
- 6:58Speaker 1: you know. And so but there's as a producer, that's
- 7:01Speaker 1: the engagement part that you have. You are in everything
- 7:05Speaker 1: from budget. You're talking about the camera. Yeah, exactly, even
- 7:10Speaker 1: when I'm not on camera, I'm at I'm at the
- 7:12Speaker 1: I'm in video village. And it also like it's helped
- 7:17Speaker 1: me be such a better actor because I learned, I
- 7:20Speaker 1: would say, I honestly, not just the craft of acting,
- 7:24Speaker 1: the art of storytelling. And that's that when you start
- 7:28Speaker 1: to tell that story as an actor, and me being
- 7:31Speaker 1: able to sit behind the London and say, hey, let'sten,
- 7:34Speaker 1: this came through on camera. Can we get this and
- 7:37Speaker 1: we have to make our days or and and everything
- 7:39Speaker 1: like that. All the logistics that happened, and I would
- 7:43Speaker 1: be remissed if I did not. Um D J. Lewis,
- 7:47Speaker 1: who's the writer and other executive producer on the film,
- 7:51Speaker 1: Haitian Way, and let I just finished. He he's Haitian
- 7:55Speaker 1: and he made all the logistics just extremely possible and
- 7:59Speaker 1: as seamless as you could think to be over in
- 8:02Speaker 1: Haiti at this point in time. And um, I just
- 8:05Speaker 1: want to say, and I'll wrap it up by saying this,
- 8:08Speaker 1: we have such a misconception as a people in America
- 8:12Speaker 1: of what Haiti is. It's absolutely beautiful, absolutely absolutely beautiful.
- 8:18Speaker 1: I learned so much about the culture, the people, and
- 8:22Speaker 1: I was extremely inspired once I was, once I left,
- 8:25Speaker 1: and while I was there. So that's another thing I felt.
- 8:30Speaker 1: Added to being a producer. You have to be open
- 8:32Speaker 1: to learning right along the way because not everything is
- 8:35Speaker 1: going to go as your plan. Not every project is
- 8:37Speaker 1: going to be the same. You have to be valuable, flexible,
- 8:40Speaker 1: and I love the process. We'll be right back with
- 8:43Speaker 1: more Money Making Conversations Masterclass with Rushan McDonald. Now let's
- 8:50Speaker 1: return to Money Making Conversations Masterclass with Rushan McDonald. Talk
- 8:55Speaker 1: about how you got the how the casting out. I
- 8:57Speaker 1: know you've done other projects for Tyler Perry like, but
- 9:00Speaker 1: still it's your talent. You know a lot of people
- 9:02Speaker 1: people Tyler just don't hand you stuff because he like you.
- 9:05Speaker 1: That's the skills that you come Talk about how this
- 9:08Speaker 1: opportunity that came to you and then because it is
- 9:12Speaker 1: over the top, because Eva's character is bold is it
- 9:16Speaker 1: is like it is almost cartoonist. But I said that
- 9:19Speaker 1: in a very entertaining way, because sometimes you need to
- 9:22Speaker 1: just step into a world, just let all all reality go.
- 9:25Speaker 1: That's what this show is about. But it is time
- 9:28Speaker 1: to real people and the emotional things that are relatable.
- 9:31Speaker 1: Tell us about it. Um, it's interesting. I actually auditioned
- 9:36Speaker 1: for All Kan's Men Fire to audition persistence. I was
- 9:40Speaker 1: also um. I played Sisters. I'm sorry I was All Sisters.
- 9:44Speaker 1: I played Jakoben that was on the bank, and I
- 9:48Speaker 1: was just thankful to get a job act. You know
- 9:52Speaker 1: what I mean. Before I was parking cars, man, I
- 9:55Speaker 1: was really parking cars from saying to him the three
- 9:57Speaker 1: thirty in the morning, just trying to u um, support
- 10:01Speaker 1: myself and follow my dreams. So in the daytime about audition.
- 10:06Speaker 1: At night, I would um. At night I would work.
- 10:10Speaker 1: Jumped to Sisters came, the audition came. I did the audition,
- 10:14Speaker 1: by the grace of God, found out I booked it,
- 10:17Speaker 1: went there and just delve into work. Now we get home,
- 10:20Speaker 1: Sisters is over and I get a call from my
- 10:23Speaker 1: agent say, hey, you just got to leading Talente new show.
- 10:26Speaker 1: All the clues Men. Honestly, I cried, I got on
- 10:31Speaker 1: my kneed. I thank God in this order, and I
- 10:34Speaker 1: called my grandmother and said, hey, you don't have to
- 10:36Speaker 1: work anymore. And but the process, I had no idea,
- 10:43Speaker 1: Like I said, I auditioned for all the queens men
- 10:45Speaker 1: months and months before auditions assistance. I forgot about the audition,
- 10:49Speaker 1: and I had no idea that I was already cast it.
- 10:52Speaker 1: Our wonderful creator and writer, I have to um give
- 10:57Speaker 1: Christian Keys his components, because without Christian keys is there
- 11:00Speaker 1: will be no as Man. That derived from his book
- 11:02Speaker 1: Ladies to Night, and Christian actually put the time and
- 11:06Speaker 1: ever talking about a producer and developer for ten years
- 11:08Speaker 1: ago from the book. So the character that Christian wrote
- 11:13Speaker 1: was Christian was doing, was was going to play m
- 11:18Speaker 1: And at this time Christian really really wanted to tell
- 11:21Speaker 1: the story as authentically to his business possible, and he
- 11:25Speaker 1: took a more of a step back to be in
- 11:28Speaker 1: a producing aspect and executive producing, executive producing, executive producer. Yes,
- 11:36Speaker 1: and Christian casting me, Christian actually casting me. And because
- 11:42Speaker 1: I don't know, I think I was possibly going to
- 11:44Speaker 1: be on Sisters more and and it actually was that
- 11:47Speaker 1: was the case because they had to round out my
- 11:49Speaker 1: character for season three, So doing the audition for all
- 11:53Speaker 1: the Queens men, it was one of those things where
- 11:56Speaker 1: he just sees you see the scene and scene that
- 12:00Speaker 1: I actually had the audition for. It was from season one.
- 12:03Speaker 1: If you guys have seen season one, it's when I
- 12:05Speaker 1: get out of the actually prison and my aunt is
- 12:08Speaker 1: there for the first time. And the scene where I
- 12:12Speaker 1: go back to my fiance, sorry my girlfriend at the time,
- 12:15Speaker 1: my girlfriend that I killed. I go back to her
- 12:18Speaker 1: mom's house and the gunnis to my head. Those are
- 12:20Speaker 1: my two auditions scenes. And then with something about it
- 12:23Speaker 1: that just clicked when I when I auditioned, I said
- 12:25Speaker 1: in a self tape, didn't hear anything for like three
- 12:27Speaker 1: or four months, nothing, And I was, Okay, this is
- 12:30Speaker 1: one of those auditions. Here we go, you understand and
- 12:33Speaker 1: you you lead of an incredible series. That is the characters.
- 12:38Speaker 1: Of course, we talked about Eva's characters. She plays my Damn.
- 12:41Speaker 1: We don't say ma'am, We just say lady, you said
- 12:44Speaker 1: me damn. Okay, Now my boy blew on there Damn.
- 12:48Speaker 1: That's he's developing a relationship with a character called Damn.
- 12:51Speaker 1: I'm saying the Sky's character who plays ample on the show.
- 12:54Speaker 1: Do you have male dancers? Doc Phase way ago Midnight?
- 12:59Speaker 1: And then I didn't. You're a fan. I love it.
- 13:01Speaker 1: I love it, Hey, Scott, I would not have you
- 13:07Speaker 1: on this show, brother lying to you man. And then
- 13:11Speaker 1: my favorite character is Tommy my man and the Cookies.
- 13:15Speaker 1: My man is cookies. Oh my gosh, Yes, yes, Tommy's
- 13:19Speaker 1: character is absolutely hilarious. Um yeah, he's His character is
- 13:24Speaker 1: so funny. It's it's the commedic relead to this show.
- 13:27Speaker 1: Say the thing that I can say about this season
- 13:31Speaker 1: the most. And I had to discover a lot of
- 13:34Speaker 1: who Am is this season because without revealing too much,
- 13:39Speaker 1: I will say this, and I've been saying this, you
- 13:41Speaker 1: will really find out why Am and Madam are related.
- 13:47Speaker 1: Amps arc is ridiculous this season, and it was so
- 13:54Speaker 1: fun to play because it's it's it's night and day,
- 13:57Speaker 1: so everything you think AMP is just watching them fold.
- 14:02Speaker 1: Oh I am watching it. Like I said, I'm in
- 14:04Speaker 1: the middle of episode six of this season two and
- 14:08Speaker 1: and it's a season. We have twenty episodes this season.
- 14:13Speaker 1: I got this wider art. I love it. I'm loving
- 14:17Speaker 1: I'm love it. Because I'm not gonna miss any of it.
- 14:18Speaker 1: Like I said, the first season I believe was ten.
- 14:20Speaker 1: I believe it was ten the first season. And and
- 14:23Speaker 1: like I said, when the end of that dramatic moment,
- 14:25Speaker 1: I was like, you got to be kidding me. It
- 14:28Speaker 1: came back. Now Tyler has done me right twenty episodes.
- 14:31Speaker 1: But let's talk about the whole relationships. Like said, when
- 14:34Speaker 1: you do these series, you know, you could say, I'm
- 14:37Speaker 1: doing the show over the over the character. She's a
- 14:40Speaker 1: tough woman, and we have these male dancers, so you're
- 14:43Speaker 1: selling sex and good lifting guys in shape. So you're
- 14:46Speaker 1: trying to seek that male demo and all that female demo.
- 14:50Speaker 1: Excuse me. And so when all that comes about, it's
- 14:52Speaker 1: the story and the characters talk about your character and
- 14:56Speaker 1: your relationship that you're developed with Dime this season. So
- 15:01Speaker 1: this season with Dime um and also where you see
- 15:06Speaker 1: Am from the beginning, you see this beautiful budding relationships
- 15:10Speaker 1: and you see the love and and and I mean
- 15:15Speaker 1: Diamond is that soft spot for them, just like am
- 15:18Speaker 1: possess soft spot from Madam. However, it's it's how do
- 15:26Speaker 1: I say this? Um? Expected? Unexpected? What happen? Done? Yes,
- 15:32Speaker 1: and and and you and you all the things men's
- 15:35Speaker 1: are crime drama. And I think once people realize that,
- 15:39Speaker 1: a lot of times people saw us as all this
- 15:41Speaker 1: stripper show, this male strip show, this guy's male stripper show.
- 15:44Speaker 1: But it's not that it's actually a crime drama. And
- 15:47Speaker 1: it's about the relationships of what society would consider consider
- 15:53Speaker 1: social misfits and how they're navigating this world but also
- 15:57Speaker 1: being there for each other, but also going through real
- 16:00Speaker 1: life circumstances that really actually happened in the world of
- 16:05Speaker 1: meloxotic Dancing. I mean, if you hear some of the
- 16:09Speaker 1: stories that the guys that I got to sit down
- 16:11Speaker 1: with each of the guys, and I really wanted to
- 16:13Speaker 1: immerse myself in this world and I take it the
- 16:15Speaker 1: crandit that's just another role, and said, tell me everything,
- 16:17Speaker 1: tell me what happens, tell me, tell me your past,
- 16:20Speaker 1: tell me. And I had these moments which each of
- 16:23Speaker 1: these guys and a lot of these stories aren't too
- 16:26Speaker 1: sabricated when you when you actually lived that world, in
- 16:31Speaker 1: that life on TV, it seems larger than life. But
- 16:36Speaker 1: so many stories that I've heard that these brothers have
- 16:38Speaker 1: gone through, um, it's it's authentic. We'll be right back
- 16:43Speaker 1: with more Money Making Conversations Masterclass with Rushan McDonald. Now,
- 16:49Speaker 1: let's return to Money Making Conversations Masterclass with Rushan McDonald.
- 16:54Speaker 1: I'm speaking to sky Velsta Black. He's run of the
- 16:57Speaker 1: stars of the New I said something news of season.
- 17:00Speaker 1: It's twenty episodes this season. Everybody, all the queensman, it's
- 17:04Speaker 1: starting incredible, even myself. She starts this. She's she's the
- 17:08Speaker 1: woman the word boss lady. She is truly the boss lady.
- 17:12Speaker 1: To kill a lady, the tough lady. I'm gonna tell you,
- 17:15Speaker 1: get out my face, lady. She don't care if she's so.
- 17:22Speaker 1: I want to say something. You said it was a
- 17:23Speaker 1: crime drama. But let me put some on top of that.
- 17:26Speaker 1: It's a family show. And that's why I'm engaged when
- 17:30Speaker 1: you still empower the Power series, it was about family. Well,
- 17:35Speaker 1: if you look at any of the Fast and Furious
- 17:37Speaker 1: shows movies, it's about family. And so when you look
- 17:40Speaker 1: at this series, always remember that. You know Doc and
- 17:44Speaker 1: Blue family. Fuego has been in a lot of time
- 17:47Speaker 1: trying to get this family, keep this family together, and
- 17:51Speaker 1: then in the first season he's basically an outside character,
- 17:54Speaker 1: but this season, he's more engaged and you find out
- 17:57Speaker 1: more about his character. What the thing I love about
- 17:59Speaker 1: this and the Skies that because there's twenty episodes, the
- 18:03Speaker 1: characters don't feel rushed and I'm getting more a backstory.
- 18:06Speaker 1: I'm getting more a backstory. It makes me more engaged
- 18:09Speaker 1: and much more aware of the next step and excited.
- 18:12Speaker 1: And that's why, that's why I wanted to say that
- 18:15Speaker 1: the family's dynamic plays a major role. It is a crime,
- 18:19Speaker 1: and it is violent, it is action, it is dramatic.
- 18:23Speaker 1: It is funny because Tommy is very funny in this series.
- 18:26Speaker 1: You know, you know, he's he's he's a he's a
- 18:30Speaker 1: who as they say back in the day. But but
- 18:33Speaker 1: but these are the characters that make me enjoy the show.
- 18:36Speaker 1: And this is what I'm saying to you, is that
- 18:38Speaker 1: the male dancers is part of it. But I'm also
- 18:40Speaker 1: more engaged about, you know, the relationships about Entangled. I
- 18:46Speaker 1: love that you said that because I always look for
- 18:50Speaker 1: the universal message when I'm telling the story. Yes, I'm
- 18:53Speaker 1: a character that got out of prison for nine years,
- 18:56Speaker 1: and we dub into my backstory and we actually see
- 18:59Speaker 1: why he really went to prison. I don't know if
- 19:01Speaker 1: anyone has seen that episode yet, if you haven't seen,
- 19:04Speaker 1: episode six really starts to show amps backstory to why
- 19:11Speaker 1: and because first season really focused on am being the
- 19:13Speaker 1: audience member as far as bringing you into this world
- 19:16Speaker 1: and he you were looking at this world through the
- 19:18Speaker 1: eyes of them because you've never seen this world before
- 19:21Speaker 1: as he hasn't. Now you're seeing, like you just said,
- 19:24Speaker 1: each character's back story. And when you're telling stories, people
- 19:29Speaker 1: like stories because there's a universal element that they can
- 19:32Speaker 1: also relate to. They may not know what it is,
- 19:34Speaker 1: but it's like, why do I like this so much?
- 19:37Speaker 1: But it is family and it's togetherness, and it's how
- 19:41Speaker 1: do we keep each other together? How do we love
- 19:44Speaker 1: on each other in this miss of this huge minuta
- 19:49Speaker 1: of craziness. And I think that's a lot of just
- 19:54Speaker 1: relationships period, Like families, paramount, friends are paramount. Support systems
- 19:59Speaker 1: are extremely paramount in it. And on the US universal level,
- 20:03Speaker 1: we can't do it alone, even on on on all
- 20:07Speaker 1: the police men, she can't do it alone, and she
- 20:11Speaker 1: needs asked her, Madam, and I always say, even I
- 20:15Speaker 1: have the best time, because what we do we just
- 20:19Speaker 1: get on camera and we go right. We don't rehearse before.
- 20:23Speaker 1: We have a great connection as Auntie and Nephew when
- 20:27Speaker 1: we get on and we explore. And I think Tyler
- 20:30Speaker 1: so much for allowing us to really have taking it
- 20:36Speaker 1: upon ourselves to develop these characters and actually listening to
- 20:40Speaker 1: our thoughts. And I also think the entire producing teams
- 20:43Speaker 1: for saying, hey, this season, we do want to delve
- 20:47Speaker 1: into why these people are the way they are and
- 20:50Speaker 1: it makes everybody interested. Well, I'm gonna tell you this guy,
- 20:54Speaker 1: you know, uh, this is this. This is the opening
- 20:57Speaker 1: scene for this for this second season, and I'm not
- 21:00Speaker 1: gonna tell y'all in detail. Well, when Homeboard came out
- 21:04Speaker 1: of the kitchen with that giant butcher knife, I'm with
- 21:10Speaker 1: y'all silly, Yeah, y'all are silly. Y'all know y'all got
- 21:13Speaker 1: smaller knives and that kitchen and that well coming out
- 21:15Speaker 1: that gives you that jiant butcher knife to do what
- 21:18Speaker 1: they had to do surgically, But that's the man, Yeah,
- 21:22Speaker 1: to get up. Yeah, that's the funny part about it.
- 21:24Speaker 1: But I definitely want to close out the show to
- 21:27Speaker 1: talk about your advocacy for homelessness and empoverished people. Because
- 21:31Speaker 1: the production was producing and EPN and eventually directing, because
- 21:35Speaker 1: that's I see that in your future and the incredible
- 21:38Speaker 1: series and the relationship you've had with Tyler, and then
- 21:40Speaker 1: being blessed in the relationship with Christian Keys, which is incredible.
- 21:44Speaker 1: Book that was Ladies Night, which is now turned into
- 21:46Speaker 1: All the Queen's Men is airing and streaming on BT Plus.
- 21:50Speaker 1: Why are the importance of advocating being a voice for
- 21:53Speaker 1: homelessness and the impoverished? Man? I was homeless. I knew
- 21:58Speaker 1: a firstead. I'm a kid that that's from the South
- 22:02Speaker 1: or from Miami, Florida. I'm from the real Miami man.
- 22:04Speaker 1: I'm from Carol City, which is now my regardens. But
- 22:10Speaker 1: I came on here to l A with a dream
- 22:13Speaker 1: and faith and God, and a lot of people say, well,
- 22:18Speaker 1: what did you do? I worked my butt off, I
- 22:20Speaker 1: believe in I pray. Sounds pretty shary, but you know
- 22:24Speaker 1: when you're when you're in such a industry as the
- 22:28Speaker 1: entertainment industry, they're no guarantees and you have ups, downs, peaks, valleys,
- 22:33Speaker 1: as you do with any industry or with any in life. However,
- 22:38Speaker 1: I was that kid. I was that kid that was homeless,
- 22:41Speaker 1: not once three times. Um, I know what it's like
- 22:45Speaker 1: to have a dream that no one else believes it
- 22:49Speaker 1: until it happens. I know it's like to feel depression.
- 22:53Speaker 1: I'm also a huge, huge mental health advocate. Especially it's
- 23:00Speaker 1: really it's something that we need because we need to
- 23:06Speaker 1: clear our minds. Without a clear mind, you can't be
- 23:08Speaker 1: effective in life. And so in addition to being homeless,
- 23:13Speaker 1: I was depressed and homeless. And I live in Los Angeles. Man,
- 23:17Speaker 1: I can look out my my window right now, and
- 23:20Speaker 1: yes I'm less, but I'm not removed from circumstances and
- 23:24Speaker 1: the homeless could the homeless population and lost astances ritic
- 23:28Speaker 1: and and I just feel that there's so much that
- 23:31Speaker 1: can be done, but we don't look at it. And
- 23:36Speaker 1: and I with my platform, I want to do as
- 23:39Speaker 1: much as I can to look at the humanistic qualities
- 23:42Speaker 1: of just life and how it can be better for
- 23:45Speaker 1: things that that's dear to me. I mean again, I
- 23:48Speaker 1: was in I said in my car, I slept in
- 23:50Speaker 1: Hotel six. As I step on couches, I I this this,
- 23:54Speaker 1: this just happened. My life just reached. And also with
- 23:59Speaker 1: it switching, I've learned the importance of mental health and
- 24:04Speaker 1: mental and therapy awareness of how to just navigate. Everybody
- 24:11Speaker 1: has gone through PTSD at some point. I mean, we
- 24:13Speaker 1: just came out of a pandemic and now it seems
- 24:16Speaker 1: we're on the edge of other epidemics possibly so um.
- 24:22Speaker 1: I think as an artist it is essential to not
- 24:25Speaker 1: only live life, but to observe life and to really
- 24:29Speaker 1: have empathy for a lot of universal issues. Because if
- 24:36Speaker 1: you cannot be empathetic to without judgment, to another man's plight,
- 24:43Speaker 1: sorry about that. If you can't be if you can't
- 24:47Speaker 1: be empathetic to your fellow man and man being woman, human,
- 24:54Speaker 1: if you can't be empathetic to their plight, you can't
- 24:56Speaker 1: be a great artist. And it's near and dear to me.
- 25:00Speaker 1: And there's a lot more I want to do in
- 25:03Speaker 1: that arena of m I want to go visit shelters.
- 25:06Speaker 1: I want to set up things, and it's one of
- 25:09Speaker 1: my company's mission Sitnents to to really give back and
- 25:13Speaker 1: not just go there and dump on some turkeys. Get
- 25:17Speaker 1: to really get back and see what can we do
- 25:20Speaker 1: that That has to be something that if all of
- 25:22Speaker 1: us are together, we could we could make some of
- 25:24Speaker 1: the factive change. Absolutely well, he's making effective change as
- 25:30Speaker 1: a producer, effective change as a homeless advocate for the
- 25:34Speaker 1: impoverished and disenfranchise, but more importantly as a fan, as
- 25:38Speaker 1: a person in the entertaining prison. You know, I always say,
- 25:42Speaker 1: you know, he's younger than me, so hopefully I've knocked
- 25:44Speaker 1: over some doors and kicked over some boxes that he
- 25:46Speaker 1: could step in. And I know he's stepping in strong
- 25:49Speaker 1: because he got a great man behind him and Tyler Perry,
- 25:51Speaker 1: and he's another advocate in Christian Keys, who I think
- 25:54Speaker 1: is one of the star producers of our next generation
- 25:56Speaker 1: that's gonna pop out. That only is he a talented writer,
- 26:00Speaker 1: but he's also a handsome guy, so they also helped
- 26:02Speaker 1: CHRISTI okay, it looks good, but again, thank you for
- 26:05Speaker 1: covering those show this guy, I hope it was a Joe.
- 26:06Speaker 1: I'll put this journey was better than the previous journey,
- 26:09Speaker 1: which I thought was very good. I always have a
- 26:11Speaker 1: great time with you, and thank you for having me
- 26:12Speaker 1: back in and just picked you back on what you said.
- 26:15Speaker 1: Thank you for everything that you've done in the entertainment
- 26:18Speaker 1: industry because you you had to walk so I can run,
- 26:21Speaker 1: So thank you for all your contributions and just knocking
- 26:25Speaker 1: down those doors. Man. It's always a great time here
- 26:27Speaker 1: Money Making Conversations. Thank you, appreciate your brother, but talk soon. Man.
