- 0:05Hello, and welcome to two girls in the pot.
- 0:07I'm Sharon, I'm Christy, welcome everyone.
- 0:11We hope that you have had a really fantastic week.
- 0:14So far, ho organ, so close to the weekend, doesn't it?
- 0:18Feel great. Let's of course, you work on the
- 0:20weekends and maybe it's not so great.
- 0:23The rest of us are going, is it Friday yet?
- 0:24Is it Friday yet a perfect? Well, even when you love Your
- 0:30job, the weekend. Just feels so nice.
- 0:34So anyway, you know, is always, we sit here, we do our little
- 0:38morning chats or, you know, we actually get our a lot of our
- 0:41ideas come on. We're like we talked about
- 0:43sitting in the hot tub but a lot of them come up because one of
- 0:47the things we do we try to do as often as we can weekly and stuff
- 0:51like that is walk and of course it's Colorado.
- 0:57So it's a little cold, we're not big fans of the cold.
- 1:00So, what we do is we actually walk in our home, you know,
- 1:06that's one of the big things of one of my goals in the morning
- 1:09is to always get at least one mile in before I make breakfast
- 1:13or do those other little chores that we have at home.
- 1:19You know. For us it's such a creative time
- 1:21for us to not just I mean not as it just getting this moving you
- 1:26know and and having that motion exactly.
- 1:29And that's kind of like what we were talking about today, life
- 1:33and motion. And that's, I think that it
- 1:36applies in more ways than we even realize.
- 1:40I feel like that. Yeah, when we're getting our
- 1:42steps in the morning, we are very creative, our mind is
- 1:45going. It seems like it's a really
- 1:48great time for us to come up with different ideas and stuff.
- 1:52So it even shows how that movement, you know our body
- 1:55movement, really? I for me it's like creativity
- 1:59comes, I do. You know, when I pee at leads to
- 2:01another idea and then that's the mines movement and it's this
- 2:05relationship that's going on between the body and the mind,
- 2:07you know you're getting that oxygen going.
- 2:09The Bloods flowing a little bit better.
- 2:11Hopefully you're not like you know super sluggish but even if
- 2:15you are you know I find even if I'm starting my day off
- 2:17sluggish, as soon as I start getting that movement going, the
- 2:21sluggishness goes away. But not only for my body, it's
- 2:25like your brain goes, I'm awake. Yeah.
- 2:29I think that's true and it's can happen even before coffee in
- 2:34coffee, is really in for it. So I think yes, trust me.
- 2:37We could do a whole episode on copy that.
- 2:40I'm sure we come in. I think we should make that a
- 2:43thing, the flight idle, too, because we love our coffee, but
- 2:47I think the thing is that because you know, we touched a
- 2:49little bit on that last time. You know that with music comes
- 2:52dance with music comes a movement and when you're
- 2:56dancing, Gary is such a different feel.
- 3:00Don't you think? I mean it because you're
- 3:03switching it up, you know, whether you're going from Latin
- 3:06dance to. I mean if you would if you did
- 3:08to Steppin I tried that once my friend Tammy tried to teach me
- 3:12how to two-step but that's okay. I tried to teach her out.
- 3:14Latin dance and neither one of us.
- 3:15Got it very well. She didn't want to move her hips
- 3:18and I didn't want to stop moving mine.
- 3:21It's like and know the two-step you don't do that and you just
- 3:24kind of stand out there like and I'll tell her.
- 3:26No and Latin. You got to kind of move your
- 3:28hips her hips didn't want to. Move mind in one stop.
- 3:30So that was the end of our lesson.
- 3:32Yeah. But it was fun.
- 3:34And you know, what's really fun? I was thinking back is we've had
- 3:38it where even one day Mars, my sister was here, and we're up in
- 3:42the kitchen, we have music on board dancing as we're making
- 3:46dinner Tenley was here, that's always been sort of a being in
- 3:50our home that you people come over and we danced.
- 3:54A lot of times, we are doing something in the kitchen or
- 3:56something like that and we'll put music on Now we are always
- 4:01dancing. I mean we've done that.
- 4:02Yeah, I'm with a quite a few of our friends.
- 4:05You mentioned it before. We did it with your grandma when
- 4:08she came to visit. I just, I don't know.
- 4:10It's just something that we've always done.
- 4:12And I've always enjoyed. And I think that's the cool
- 4:15thing about dance. Its movement when, you know,
- 4:17without thought. It's just that mule feeling.
- 4:21Yeah. And I think that's what's kind
- 4:24of cool. You know, when you say that, you
- 4:25know, I think those are really the neat things to, you know, I
- 4:27can look back on my life and like, I talked a little A bit
- 4:30about, even with my parents dancing, that was something that
- 4:34they would do and it was something that we did.
- 4:36And you know, it wasn't uncommon for us to go to we loved wedding
- 4:39dances because it was just a big old party with lots of music.
- 4:45That was one of the things I always liked to was going to a
- 4:48lot of the Latin concerts that I went to.
- 4:50They were just concerts, it wasn't about just sitting in a
- 4:53seat or that it was dances. We went to dances.
- 4:57I, well, we went to see lows to Cana swings we And seeing them,
- 5:00a couple of times I'm steering for yeah, I was going to say
- 5:03it's you a few slides but, you know, and that was really
- 5:05interesting because you know, when the first time he was like
- 5:08oh you want to go to this concert?
- 5:09I'm there like okay. So I'm used to like you know,
- 5:11when you go to a concert no would you go to that?
- 5:15They there's no seating you just you're up dancing at the by the
- 5:18stage or dancing. It's The Dance Floor's there.
- 5:21Yeah, I was going to say well they do have tables surrounding
- 5:25but there it's a whole Dance Floor.
- 5:27The table is only there to hold your drink.
- 5:29Yeah. Yes.
- 5:30Yes, pretty much so and you know, if you do get a little
- 5:34winded, you get to go, sit down for a minute, but it is, it's so
- 5:37it's really one of those things. And then I was thinking too, you
- 5:40know what, I thought another time that came to my mind is
- 5:43more visiting my sister in California and we went to her
- 5:46friend's party and just the Latin music and just all the
- 5:51dancing and just it the fun of it and yes, you know, it doesn't
- 5:55have to be dancing but dancing if you don't dance or if you're
- 5:59one that just Senses by themselves.
- 6:01As one of my clients said he goes in the closet, he can dance
- 6:04because it's a big closet so he gets a chance to do that which I
- 6:07thought was really cool but you know if you're too shy, find
- 6:12that spot find that time and just move because it does
- 6:18something. There's, you know, when you look
- 6:20I don't care what culture it is. Every culture has danced in
- 6:23every culture has music, and there's Movement, we live in a
- 6:27state that, you know, when we look at the most healthy, It's
- 6:30one of the healthiest states were always in the top three and
- 6:33when you look at that, we have a lot of cyclists.
- 6:35Here, we have a lot of hikers. Here, we have.
- 6:37No, it's we are always in motion.
- 6:41So I mean, that shows something right there.
- 6:43If it's, you know, something like those statistics about the
- 6:47state, you know, and then being more healthy.
- 6:50It just shows that through, like, I say, everybody's
- 6:54willingness to, to participate in those kinds of things, get
- 6:56outdoors, and do that kind of stuff.
- 6:58So, I was reading that Article, you know, one of the things that
- 7:01were talking about was looking at high blood pressure and blood
- 7:05sugar and they were seeing that if you could get up every half
- 7:08hour and do a little bit of a walk.
- 7:11It doesn't matter when it's 125 minutes, whatever?
- 7:14How it lowered the blood pressure and a helped the
- 7:18diabetes and they talked about why that does that, you know,
- 7:20when we sit put the blood flows in suits and all that technical
- 7:23stuff, like just kind of bypass that and all.
- 7:26But it really was about how important and that is and how we
- 7:31don't even realize and it's not that it has to be a lot of time
- 7:34and that's one of the things I love about working from home is
- 7:37I will always have about five minutes in between clients.
- 7:40So what I will do, if I will get up and I will do a walk, it
- 7:45does. And it feels that it when I have
- 7:47those days that I don't get that in.
- 7:48Like, sometimes in my office day.
- 7:49I don't because my clients come or back-to-back, I don't have
- 7:53that, and I feel different at the end of the day, you know, I
- 7:57don't fill his, I don't know. Don't feel more tired.
- 8:01Well, I know the if it's a day that, you know, I'm, I'm not
- 8:04able to give my workout on, for whatever reason.
- 8:07Or it's cut shorter that a lot of times, I feel so much more
- 8:10accomplished when I get that in, you know, even if it's for a
- 8:14shorter amount of time or whatever, but it just helps me I
- 8:19think not only physically, but mentally.
- 8:23And, I mean, that's something that we've talked about to its
- 8:26that we constantly have motion even in the mind.
- 8:29I'm that rain is constantly going and we've talked about
- 8:32that, you know, about being able to stay in the moment because
- 8:35when the brain is so fixated on, anticipating something in the
- 8:39future, a lot of times there's anxiety and or your brain is so
- 8:43caught up in the pan the past or whatever.
- 8:46And then there's a lot of times there's guilt associated with
- 8:48things and all kind of just all kinds of things.
- 8:51The brain just goes everywhere, but and there's nothing wrong
- 8:55with keeping your mind going. But I really think that we just
- 8:58have to be Be you, we have to pay attention.
- 9:01What is it? That were feeding our mind and
- 9:03that what are we keeping it in motion with well?
- 9:07And I think that in really paying attention to that
- 9:09mind-body relationship. Yeah, realizing how when you do
- 9:13have that motion with your body, how it changes the motion with
- 9:17your mind. You know, it's a weird thing
- 9:20because akaka can have the ability to slow it down, you
- 9:23know, because you get into a rhythm.
- 9:24If you're walking, if you're dancing, if you're dancing,
- 9:27you're not thinking. You're feeling I'm saying is so
- 9:30Noreen because it's not really about thought.
- 9:33When you work out, you're not thinking you're focused on
- 9:38whatever that motion is for whatever you're working out.
- 9:42So becomes that nice relationship between the body
- 9:45and the mind and with the now. Yes, I mean, I have people who
- 9:49paste because they're anxious, but he even the pacing will
- 9:53still help regulate that in a weird way.
- 9:57Do you sell to me? It's like If my body is in
- 9:59motion then there's some action taking place even though there's
- 10:01no action taking place if it's around worried, the worry does
- 10:04not create an action other than the motion of you walking but
- 10:08it's not changing the situation outside of that if not make
- 10:12sense. And so I think you know, there's
- 10:14a lot of that that takes place and I just think it's well,
- 10:17first off, I think it's fun. I'm more of a walker, you're
- 10:21more of a worker out. You like to do the more the
- 10:23where I love the workout but I loved the walk because I know
- 10:26what the walk does for me. Because I knew It for a
- 10:28different reason. So I'm having that mind-body
- 10:31thing, but I know that if I do the walking, it's so great for
- 10:36blood pressure, it keeps everything just kind of moving
- 10:39really well. I think they're not one of the
- 10:41best ways that really helped me and changing my mindset about
- 10:45working out and that was focusing on the health piece of
- 10:48it. You know?
- 10:49I mean I really saw it impact my numbers as far as cholesterol
- 10:52things like that. So I think that giving Focus to
- 10:56that and one of my main Things was focusing on strength.
- 11:01I wanted to be stronger and giving so much attention to
- 11:05that. It was about weight loss, but
- 11:07not just that, you know, I'm in for some reason having that
- 11:11focus of what I could do really helped me well and you know, we
- 11:15did the walk program on we were of mental health and the cool
- 11:19thing about that program was, is it got people up and it got
- 11:22people moving it. Got people being more healthy
- 11:25but it also created relationships.
- 11:28And I always tell people, whom if there's a group that you want
- 11:33to be a part of her stuff, there's meet up and you all of
- 11:37that, you know? So I think that's one of the
- 11:39important things to is, if movement along, doesn't motivate
- 11:44you, and if you need those partners, because I think any
- 11:47time you have a partner to do anything like that, it always
- 11:51just helps us with accountability, but it's just
- 11:53all so fun. Even when we're on Hikes, we
- 11:56stop we talked about Out. What we're looking at.
- 12:00We're in the moment, but we also get some really great ideas when
- 12:04we do that. So I think there's so much to
- 12:06it, you know, and there's such a, it's such a fun thing.
- 12:10If we don't view it as work sound know about how many people
- 12:14out there, but, you know, it's like, you know, we talked about
- 12:16the New Year's thing and it's like it's New Years and I got
- 12:19all these people doing their gym memberships and stuff like that.
- 12:23I'm excited to see how that turns out.
- 12:25But I think the thing is, is it's, if that's It takes to
- 12:29motivate you to start with the movement to start that motion.
- 12:34That is really cool. Start the motion.
- 12:37And once again, I think we also get stuck in that head face of
- 12:41if I'm not going to the gym, working out, two hours and I'm
- 12:44somehow not being successful. We will attach time to it.
- 12:48It is not about the time, but that is something that I think
- 12:52has been extremely hard to switch because even when I look
- 12:55at stuff, people will talk about.
- 12:57Well, you know, I bought a This much time and then pretty soon.
- 13:00So I'm not going to do it at all.
- 13:01And I often hear that with my clients, I don't have enough
- 13:03time for that and then I'll ask him, you don't have five
- 13:06minutes. Of course, I have five minutes.
- 13:09So do five minutes. That's something and they have
- 13:12shown that if you could really take five minutes and give it
- 13:17really hard. Like if you were able to go and
- 13:19do a run or whatever, maybe you're not able to do that, but
- 13:23whatever it is really be in that moment and do that at full
- 13:27capacity, Then that really does have an effect.
- 13:31They've shown that like, it's like intermittent running or
- 13:33things like that. Well, the impact that it does
- 13:36and then even God further. And even saying, even if you go
- 13:40and do five minutes of stretching, right?
- 13:42Stretching is a great. That's what yoga is so popular,
- 13:46and it's been around for so long, just because that's where
- 13:49you, truly learn your range of motion.
- 13:51Well, I don't think that people can, we're not meant to be
- 13:55still, and that's what we're talking about.
- 13:58About that, we're constantly in motion if we are still much
- 14:03muscles, atrophy, it becomes harder to move.
- 14:06You become more stiff, and I think that, if people did give
- 14:11some time to that, focus on stretching, and that amazes me
- 14:16with flexibility, how different your body feels.
- 14:21And that's not about fast movement.
- 14:24It's about, you know, just easing into those stretches.
- 14:28And relaxing your body into it. And when you have that
- 14:32flexibility you just feel more youthful, more vital.
- 14:36Just to me, I think the thing that's so funny is when you do
- 14:41stretch, which I had been stretching and doing really
- 14:44well, and then I kind of injured my back a little bit.
- 14:45So then I kind of pulled back from it.
- 14:47So, you know, just kind of going back and forth that, but one of
- 14:50the things I noticed and I think because I had, but I wasn't
- 14:53doing as much. Stretch is how that you don't
- 14:57walk as Right? I can't explain it but I can
- 15:01feel it here which is really interesting to me because once
- 15:04again the more movement and the more stretch we do the more
- 15:08fluid our movement even become. So I think that that's why I
- 15:11understand what you're saying about lighter because I think
- 15:15when you have more flexibility you have more agility.
- 15:18So your is just like there is more.
- 15:21It is almost like a lightness. I think to your your step and
- 15:26just your because you have that This ability, you're just more
- 15:29comfortable in your body in a way.
- 15:31Well, you know, because it's kind of funny and I'm an
- 15:34attribute it to this because I don't know why all she would be
- 15:36saying it to me when I get up. She'll tell me.
- 15:39Do you have to walk so hard? It's because she doesn't want to
- 15:42wake up the dog, or I think that's what it is.
- 15:44Or she just giving me or telling me.
- 15:46I'm not really sure what it is, but I have found since then.
- 15:49You've not heard me because I'm actually tiptoeing to the
- 15:52bathroom because heaven forbid. I wake her or the dock Why are
- 15:58you waking up and tromping to the bathroom so far?
- 16:05And why don't you people just mind him all business to them,
- 16:10but you know, what's really interesting though?
- 16:11After you mention that I've started to do a little more
- 16:14stretch and there's a difference in the way.
- 16:17It is so interesting, but I'm one of those people who probably
- 16:21weird, but I really pay attention to what's going on
- 16:25with me internally. Physically what that feels like.
- 16:29You know what those shifts are because I think the more in tune
- 16:32you are with your body in your mind, the more of that motion
- 16:37that relationship between the motion of the brain and the body
- 16:41becomes more synchronized. And you can tell when your you
- 16:45can tell them, that's not synchronized because it just I
- 16:49was telling you fill out ass works today and oftentimes it's
- 16:54if she hasn't done her work out, I'll say you fill out a sorts.
- 16:57Sometimes you feel out of sorts, please go work out.
- 17:01I want my loving Christina bakos at once again.
- 17:07I think that motion in that movement is it's so hard and I
- 17:14think people who are listening, who do that can probably be
- 17:18sitting there shaking their. Yes, that's it.
- 17:21That's what we need. That's what I'm talking about in
- 17:24so much of the time. You know, I tell people when I'm
- 17:26working on their mind I'm saying, but what are you doing?
- 17:29If you're just sitting around, I don't care how How healthy your
- 17:32mind, get your only partway healthy, there's not a
- 17:35relationship going on between the mind and the body when I
- 17:37think it impacts the mind. So I mean I don't know how how
- 17:41healthy you can make the mind without that component because
- 17:46it is important. And I don't think we realize our
- 17:49strength or we don't realize what we are capable of.
- 17:53And I know when you first started out, you know once again
- 17:55you grew up Athletics was just not a part of your family system
- 17:59whatsoever, you know, you know. So I know For you.
- 18:02It was a smoke start but then once you got to that place, now
- 18:06it's such a part of your lifestyle.
- 18:08Now I was always grateful that at least when I was growing up.
- 18:11I did enjoy skating so much, you know, my mom would always take
- 18:15me to that. So I really appreciate that
- 18:18because at least I was getting that hin, which she's going back
- 18:22to practicing and getting wants to get back into skating.
- 18:25So we had her skates, she has her own skates now, which are so
- 18:31flipping. Cool-looking it.
- 18:32Yeah, I had a maid here in Colorado Springs though, I'm
- 18:36excited about that. And I think, invest in those
- 18:39things to, you know, and that's what I was talking to her body.
- 18:41So if you're going to go skating and stuff like that, she said
- 18:43about wanting to be covered while let's go to make that
- 18:45happen because you're not going to invest in something that's
- 18:48uncomfortable. Yeah, I mean, eventually might
- 18:51become comfortable but we don't even like to sell other people's
- 18:54bowling shoes. What was true?
- 18:57So we're getting back into our bowling, which is a really great
- 19:00motion. Then So the cool thing is that
- 19:03we're talking about that bullshit, it can be things that
- 19:05are fun. We really do enjoy bowling.
- 19:09Yes, we're not quite to, you know, bowling the 300 or
- 19:12anything. Oh no, no, but it is a lot of
- 19:17fun and that's the thing is. I mean motion can be fun.
- 19:21I mean, you just look for those things that you enjoy and give
- 19:27you that opportunity to be active exactly and You know,
- 19:31when you look out there and you think of all the activities
- 19:34there are Jesus. There's just so many of them.
- 19:37Their kids Skip, Hop, you jump rope, there's Motion in it, our
- 19:42friend, our friend Sanders, she loves change our throat.
- 19:45She does the way to jump ropes. Yeah.
- 19:47So I went and bought one and then I tried using my house and
- 19:50realized that my students are little too low for that, you
- 19:54know, so I have to wait till it gets a little bit warmer and I
- 19:57can go back out and do it on my dick or my patio.
- 20:00So yes. I think it's finding those
- 20:03things that are fun. But once again, if you're
- 20:06spending a lot of time working on your mental peace but you're
- 20:09not working on that physical piece, you're not synchronized,
- 20:12there's not synchronicity in what you are doing and that
- 20:18motion of your body. Also helps your mind to not be
- 20:21sluggish and we have to start understanding the relationship
- 20:25between those two things. Yeah, and I think once you start
- 20:28working out and doing so I was kind of a little off.
- 20:32A little bit off this morning because by the time I get up,
- 20:34you know and I get you know my role in the morning is I get up,
- 20:37make breakfast, you know put on whatever, you know, meal plan
- 20:40prep. But I always want to have my
- 20:42violin before I make breakfast because that's kind of a goal
- 20:46that I've set and if I start feeling like, that's not going
- 20:50to happen, then I was there like getting all it, cost me a little
- 20:54bit of angst, not bleeding. So I don't know that it just a
- 20:57little off put but then as I started getting some stress on
- 21:00their thinking, what Does it make?
- 21:02I get to choose what time I start breakfast.
- 21:05You know what? So here, I was creating this in
- 21:09my head and it was even relevant.
- 21:12Well, because guess what? I just put off making breakfast
- 21:15by two minutes who cares. Still got dinner started, still
- 21:20got breakfast done and we still have time to do our podcasts,
- 21:25all before work but I think that's what it is.
- 21:28Then the thing is is then we can start playing the head game of
- 21:31Find then I just won't do it all.
- 21:33Yeah I mean people do that they go, it's All or Nothing.
- 21:36Instead of understanding something is better than nothing
- 21:39and something is still part of the way to completion.
- 21:43So it's just how do we change that all up?
- 21:47You know what I need? Yeah, exactly.
- 21:49So I'm kind of curious, I think the audience might be too
- 21:53because you did grow up in a more kind of restrictive
- 21:57childhood. So music was not acceptable.
- 22:00I just can't see Busting a move to Christian music.
- 22:05Well, that's what does that look like nobody, well, back then, it
- 22:10didn't look pretty, but that's, but I didn't listen to stuff
- 22:16with young people would rock out to, but it's not.
- 22:20We weren't encouraged to dance, unless you were, of course.
- 22:23Okay. So you have to understand.
- 22:25I grew up in a pot, Pentecostal Church where they, you know, run
- 22:30the aisles and Dance and things like that, but that's the only
- 22:33time that looks more. Like Bobby Flay Li Li not
- 22:36getting no offense to the Pentecostals.
- 22:40Yeah, that was acceptable then because they send, you know,
- 22:44you're dancing in the spirit and that was okay.
- 22:48So what I was the ad you ever danced in the spirit at the
- 22:51church, actually, I'm a nicer did get out of 10.
- 22:58So there any video proof of that?
- 22:59No, no. But, you know, I mean, when you,
- 23:03you grow up in that mindset and that that's, you know, that's
- 23:06just part of what you do, I guess.
- 23:08So even though I think it only happened one time in my whole 18
- 23:12years grown up in church to the ball, but that was okay.
- 23:16But it wasn't allowed outside of their, and it was because
- 23:20dancing was used viewed as to sexualized, those kind of
- 23:24things. So, if I did dance, it was
- 23:27behind closed, door Chris. So you're in the closet for
- 23:30multiple reasons. I miss it cause of the dancer.
- 23:35Yes, among other things. Oh my goodness.
- 23:43It's so how did you learn to dance then?
- 23:45Did I learn today? I thought II don't know if I
- 23:48learned to dance. I think that's what looks pretty
- 23:50good to me. I, let the music Move me.
- 23:54Get that. We're gonna do dance well
- 23:55together, we do mostly Latin dance, but that's not the only
- 23:59kind that we do. I I think because we feel the
- 24:02music and then we move to the music, which then we move with
- 24:06each other but, you know, that's just kind of that whole thing
- 24:08would dance, but because it does surprise me because, you know, a
- 24:11lot of people that grow up would dance, you know, you understand
- 24:15why they'd answer, how they even learn to dancer, feel the music
- 24:18and do the dance, but you but Madam dancing.
- 24:22How did you I mean, you didn't grow up in a Latin culture?
- 24:24No, I didn't. But, you know, like I told you I
- 24:27loved going to concerts and those were dances That I would
- 24:32have died and that was out when you moved here from.
- 24:34Yeah, but when I got out to Colorado's, when it really
- 24:37changed and I moved out here when I was 18.
- 24:40So Joe could be a little rebel. I did get a little Rebel ish so
- 24:47I did. I started going to the dances
- 24:50and things like that and that's where I picked it up.
- 24:54Nice. And I think and I really
- 24:56appreciate that. And I think it's something that
- 24:57we it's one of just one more thing that we'd love and share,
- 25:01you know? Now, see we have to get back to
- 25:02dancing while we cook but you know, sometimes by the time I'm
- 25:05done with work and it's just a real quick.
- 25:07You know, part of our thing is too, is that thing of being
- 25:10Health would be? Don't like tea too late at
- 25:11night, you know? And it's like, a balancing act
- 25:14is Tetris, man, you had to put everything.
- 25:17So he's a colony. Then we've how much have we
- 25:20talked about that over time, it's balanced with me with
- 25:23everything when one thing comes out of balance, it's a matter of
- 25:27not overcompensating or doing that you just kind of take that
- 25:30breath. And do a reset, and then let it
- 25:33rebalance itself, you know? But sometimes I think that we
- 25:37don't do that either, or we beat ourselves up being those.
- 25:41We feel like something's lacking exactly.
- 25:43And I don't think that it's a matter of lacking, and I don't
- 25:46think, and it's definitely that we don't have enough time.
- 25:48We all still have the same. Mom, kind of always had its what
- 25:51we're feeling our time with. And when we're not feeling at
- 25:54least some of that time with some sense of motion, you know?
- 25:58And once again you know where we talk even about the mental piece
- 26:01of it, when you're working on your life, it's your life In
- 26:05Motion. Yes, you know, it's that
- 26:07evolution of your life motion is a part of every aspect of life.
- 26:13I mean, we talked about that, he's in in finances and that
- 26:17money flows in. And it flows out, I mean, you're
- 26:20constantly having to re look at things when you're budgeting, or
- 26:25when you're doing whatever you constantly have to revisit
- 26:28because it is in motion your, you know, You're, you're
- 26:32spending your saving, you're getting all these funds coming
- 26:35in, then you're paying bills out and do it all that it's
- 26:38constantly in motion so and I think it's that way with
- 26:41everything. So you always have to revisit
- 26:43these things, I always think it's interesting because
- 26:45oftentimes, I'll ask my clients when they come in.
- 26:48What's new in different since the last time we met nothing.
- 26:51That's the same. And I was of them.
- 26:53Say that's not, that's not even possible and they'll look at me
- 26:56and say, what do you mean? I'll say cannot be exactly as it
- 26:59was last week. I said, where's the trash?
- 27:01Check the same when you were driving in was an adobe.
- 27:04They're like, hmm. Well, no, then what's new, but
- 27:09when we start to get into a rhythm we forget that that is
- 27:12still motion. We forget that things are still
- 27:14happening. And, you know, always tell
- 27:17people look for the little things and I'll talk when we
- 27:19talk about the emotional brain because I talk about the
- 27:22evolution, you're constantly evolving, nobody just stay
- 27:26stuck. I mean we can stay stuck in
- 27:29things but like He's still moving, there are still motion
- 27:33going on, we don't solidify. If our brain stays stuck, our
- 27:38bodies, doing something, even our brains doing something, it
- 27:41could be going motion backwards to be regressing or whatever,
- 27:46but they're still motion going on.
- 27:49And I think that's the beauty of it because you're through that
- 27:52bullshit and you're able to make changes, you're able to create,
- 27:56an emotion is energy. At the end of the day, what
- 28:00we're talking about is Energy, our brain is energy when we move
- 28:05from moving my arm, that's energy that's Motion in energy.
- 28:09It's a displacement of energy to make it happen and that's
- 28:12probably but that you know, when you look at it, you know if
- 28:15you're getting up in your having that move when your energy level
- 28:18changes, it's because if we view it as our energy source which it
- 28:23is, and even where we're investing in people will, I
- 28:27don't have time for that and I'll say, but you have time to
- 28:29go fill up your car, right? Well, yeah.
- 28:32Okay, but you're not going to go put gas, that has half water and
- 28:35half gasps are you? Well, of course not.
- 28:38Well, why aren't you investing in your body?
- 28:40Why are you putting something in it?
- 28:41That's not as beneficial for or if it's movement that you need.
- 28:45Why aren't you doing that? Don't take better care of your
- 28:48car then you are you going to take care of yourself or your
- 28:50home or other things because at the end of the day you got to
- 28:53take care of you. Mmm parents will run their kids
- 28:56around to every freakin activity there is but then when I say,
- 28:59but what do you do for yourself? I just don't have time, so
- 29:03they're tired. But as soon as I'll say, okay
- 29:05you have to find and make time for yourself.
- 29:07I don't care if it's five minutes a day three days a week
- 29:10or whatever and you got to do something with motion, they'll
- 29:13come back and pretty soon. I'm going for walks or I'm doing
- 29:16this or I'm doing that because they realize the benefit to them
- 29:20that energy that they get from it that relationship, that then
- 29:25their mind does it feel as bogged down.
- 29:26They don't feel like they're always like they don't have
- 29:29enough time because now Wheeler to prioritize that motion that
- 29:34movement van we don't she'll bogged down and it really does
- 29:40come down to planning a lot of the time.
- 29:43I think people are just, you know, film, like they're
- 29:46constantly having to get caught up.
- 29:48And it's a lot of times, it is a lack of planning when you want
- 29:52something to change and you need to set aside some time or
- 29:54whatever, you have to really look at the schedule to figure
- 29:57it out and prioritize, what's important?
- 30:00And make sure that that movement.
- 30:01Movement happens, whatever. You know, it's regarding and you
- 30:05know, follow up when we talk about movement and progress on
- 30:09your organizational skills, her death still looks pretty good.
- 30:14Yeah, the whole office looks pretty good.
- 30:18The exception of the dogs toys but yeah, we can't do anything
- 30:23about that. She has toys on every level and
- 30:26they're all scattered about now and heaven forbid.
- 30:29You go put them away because she just goes and get some right
- 30:31back. Now, this is a dog that's always
- 30:33in motion when it comes to play and stuff like that.
- 30:36And that's the thing, she doesn't care what kind of day
- 30:38we've had when I get home, she expects me to have the energy to
- 30:42play with her and, you know, pretty soon.
- 30:44You're play with her and pretty soon you forget, you're tired,
- 30:47you know, because you're engaging and you're picking up
- 30:49on her energy and, you know, all of that.
- 30:51So I think people have dogs, you usually go about taking their
- 30:55dogs for a walk. While some are some just Summer
- 30:58of the backyard, a my yard is big enough that school horrible.
- 31:02But like that's our goal with her even to when it's warm
- 31:06getting her out there. Taking her for walks, those kind
- 31:09of things because it's important to her to you know it's funny
- 31:12because when the weather is not so good, she's in the house,
- 31:16she'll go out. She's weird though, she likes no
- 31:19but she doesn't like the cold cold but as soon as there's that
- 31:23little bit of warmth, she is out there and she is running all
- 31:27over the place. Yeah.
- 31:29Oh my goodness. She loves to run.
- 31:31And she'll even do that in the house.
- 31:33And you can almost feel when it's like she's been still too
- 31:36long. Yeah, you know, but don't you
- 31:39ever feel that way? Sometimes too.
- 31:40Uh-huh. Oh yeah, I think we feel that
- 31:42sometimes if we've been staying in the house for a long time,
- 31:45she gets a little antsy and that's like, let's go do
- 31:48something. We got to go do something and
- 31:51sometimes it depends on miweek, I'm there.
- 31:53Like I just want to rest 30 minutes but then we go do
- 31:58something. And once again even that you
- 32:00know, and that was something I Had to work on because I was
- 32:03such an extreme homebody, I was there, I'm perfectly content on
- 32:06my home, but we did that thing of getting out hanging out with
- 32:11our friends more and stuff like that and our family and stuff
- 32:14and, you know, it's been really good at.
- 32:16Once again, it's that motion. And when people come to visit us
- 32:19yet once not winner. The first thing we do is hey you
- 32:22want to go for a hike? Yeah, but your for sister, went
- 32:25with the weather's. Nice.
- 32:27That's like, my one of my favorite things to do is get out
- 32:30and hike. I mean, I know some people like
- 32:33to do this faster they can, and sometimes I'm in the mood for
- 32:36that, but most of the time, I just like to see what's out
- 32:39there. I take a lot of pictures that,
- 32:41you know. It's just, it's movement, but I
- 32:44enjoy it. When your sister came, Rebecca
- 32:46comes and her daughter Kyla, so they can we do.
- 32:49I was a kid, so she's got energy.
- 32:51So she's hiking. We didn't Garden of the Gods and
- 32:54finally climbing the rock. So they're, they're taking too
- 32:57long so long that I go cowgirl with you.
- 33:00So we go up ahead and she's up. Up on the rocks and she's doing
- 33:03all sorts of some they're like getting that crevice climb all
- 33:05the way up there, but IMA get a picture of you up there.
- 33:08You know, we're doing all this. And then here you can we, you
- 33:11know, we also forget that your sister has to acclimate to our
- 33:14healthy fish is from those lowlands of there and so, yeah,
- 33:18she's not used to this elevation, but once again, you
- 33:22know, people come here, my sister comes.
- 33:23Here, we go hiking. Our friend sat for Sandra to
- 33:28Sandra. Hey Sandra NG, how to cook.
- 33:31Not really but okay it's what I think she's thinking that we
- 33:35could people not look at that. This is but you know, I think
- 33:39it's just one of those things. It's something that we really
- 33:41love to share with other people. And we do have some really
- 33:44beautiful beautiful hiking trails here in Colorado and
- 33:48that's really, really cool. And you know, we just Implement
- 33:52that in as far as part of our motion as well.
- 33:56Because we kind of go to I mean you know where we'd go to Club
- 33:59Q, we would dance a lot and have fun.
- 34:01There. But we don't go anywhere here to
- 34:04go dancing. Yeah.
- 34:06Not really. But I mean I just haven't been
- 34:09to that many places. I know.
- 34:11I don't know. Yeah, it's it's really what
- 34:13there is as far as that goes. Yeah.
- 34:16And if I don't we were two rhinos.
- 34:18We went there for my birthday and Danny's birthday and had a
- 34:22good time and danced. Oh yeah.
- 34:25Tim Rita, yeah, yeah. Then Gina them.
- 34:27Oh yeah. It was good time.
- 34:30And I think you know when you Habit, where you can go out with
- 34:33and, you know, get your friends together and you can do that.
- 34:36That's really cool. You know, we've taught our
- 34:39goddaughter Ellie when we go out to dinner and stuff, what does
- 34:43she wait for? She waits for the end and she's
- 34:46constantly saying outside outside because she wants to go
- 34:49outside because we hold her hands and we walk in then we
- 34:53sweet her up in the air her down.
- 34:55She loves that. We've been doing that with her
- 34:58since well. She's still little.
- 35:00She's only going to be Three. But that was something that
- 35:03Christine I would do with her, and she waits for that.
- 35:05She loves that motion. She loves that feel of the, you
- 35:09know, her feet going up and being in the air coming down,
- 35:11and it's something that she waits for it.
- 35:14She knows that that's what that means outside.
- 35:17But what I love about her is she's well, she just got her
- 35:20cast off because she did have hip surgery.
- 35:23So, but before that, even with that, hip not being the way it's
- 35:27supposed to bad, little girl was in motion, man.
- 35:29Yeah. Oh yeah.
- 35:31She as most two-year-olds are but she loves being outside.
- 35:36Yeah, she does. She you know, she loves to go to
- 35:38the valley because she can go outside.
- 35:40She had some yard there, she does all that, but I love that
- 35:43about her that she loves the outdoors.
- 35:46She loves that motion. Okay, mom and dad, probably
- 35:49don't like her Motion in the house is much.
- 35:51Never really after all, she's only 2.
- 35:54Yeah, and we've talked a lot about physical motion, but
- 35:57there's things are constantly changing in our lives.
- 36:01And And I think that that's something that we have to
- 36:03remember is because even maybe if something's not going, as
- 36:06smoothly as we would like, it's only a moment in time and those
- 36:10things will change, and we have to keep that in mind.
- 36:14Well, I think even, you know, sometimes on top of my clients
- 36:18in the, we talking about relationships and stuff like
- 36:20that and sad over relationship, leaving or ending.
- 36:24And I always remind people that even our relationships are
- 36:27sometimes, transient people come into our life in a moment that
- 36:30we need them. And then That there's a motion
- 36:32of them, they come in. There's the motion of them
- 36:35coming in. We Embrace that, you know, we
- 36:38nurture that and then, for whatever reason, it leaves and
- 36:42go somewhere else or we leave, and go somewhere else and it's
- 36:45because it served a purpose. Exactly.
- 36:47And we're all at different stages in growth.
- 36:50And sometimes that happens, I know I've talked to you about
- 36:55people that I was friends with when I was a kid that I don't
- 36:59feel like I relate to now. And I Die.
- 37:01You know I maybe maybe Fred Facebook friends with them or
- 37:05whatever and and that's about the extent of it and it's
- 37:10interesting because there are other people that have come
- 37:13forward. More that you know, maybe work I
- 37:15didn't have much involvement with when I was younger but
- 37:20because of maybe they're gross and maybe they're just their
- 37:24mindset. We're on a different page now
- 37:26and so some of those people have stand out more than they did. -
- 37:32you know what I mean? So it's interesting how all of
- 37:35your relationships change and everything like that as you grow
- 37:38well. And you know, I even think, you
- 37:40know, when I look at a therapeutic relationship, I have
- 37:43seen, I can't, I don't even know the number of people have seen
- 37:46in my career, probably thousand. Yes.
- 37:49And that's done understatement. But the thing is, is realizing
- 37:53that even as a therapist and I always tell my clients to, you
- 37:56know, this is a relationship that has to beginning and an
- 37:59ending because you're going to outgrow me.
- 38:01Me which I hope you do. My goal is to help you outgrow
- 38:05me in that relationship because when you outgrow me, that means
- 38:09your growth has really centered around you because it's not
- 38:12about the relationship. I mean, we build a relationship.
- 38:16We have to have a relationship of trust and and non judgement
- 38:19and all of that. But when I get to discharge a
- 38:23client, I know that means that I've served my purpose in that
- 38:28journey in that movement for them to A healthier version of
- 38:33themselves and sometimes it's hard for clients and sometimes
- 38:37it's isoclines for a while. And, you know, I really care a
- 38:40lot about my clients and, and I always think also turn think,
- 38:43jeez. I wonder how, you know little
- 38:45Susie's doing, you know, we're things like that.
- 38:48It's rare that we get to know the outcomes of what we do, but
- 38:52I don't think that we have to. I think that we just have to
- 38:55really appreciate the fact that we got to be a stop on that
- 38:58Journey on that that motion of there.
- 39:01R life. And so for me, it's always a
- 39:03privilege to have that, you know, but also understanding and
- 39:07I tell them you will not be with me forever.
- 39:11And I think that's where our Focus has to lie.
- 39:13Is that hopefully, however, long that relationship last that we
- 39:20leave people in a better place. Hopefully we have that positive
- 39:24impact in their life. Well, I think, even though we
- 39:26have those relationships that we might think as more negative or
- 39:30positive, However, they still in our path for a reason, you know,
- 39:36it's like, what do we learn from it?
- 39:37What is our growth? What is our movement in our
- 39:39life? You know, how does that help
- 39:41create a path and movement for us?
- 39:43Sometimes that motion that we start to have, you know?
- 39:49And sometimes it's the movement of our thought processes.
- 39:53Exactly. And that's why I think movement
- 39:56is such a vital thing to every aspect of Our Lives.
- 40:00Everything, I can't. I don't know what part of our
- 40:02life that is not there's not movement with exactly.
- 40:06Well. When you because when you think
- 40:07about that, the opposite of that would be stagnant and who wants
- 40:10that for any aspect of their life.
- 40:12And, you know, I have to tell you this, you know, and I'll
- 40:15tie, I just cannot believe that I can let.
- 40:17I could love you anymore. And I think the think he is, is
- 40:21when we look at that, it's because, as we continue to have
- 40:23grouped together and stuff, and I always tell people, there is
- 40:27something really amazing about the growth of love and the Chip.
- 40:32And that love is one of those things that I don't think has it
- 40:38doesn't stop. We stop it from growth but if we
- 40:42don't stop it and we allow it to have those natural progressions
- 40:46and we really like being in the moment with it and things like
- 40:49that, it just continues to evolve and I think it better and
- 40:53I think that as I look at our relationship, you know, over 20
- 40:56years. You know, when I think of us
- 40:58from the beginning, you know, to now this evolution and this
- 41:01growth in our relationship and the decision for us to work on
- 41:05that growth together. That movement of our life.
- 41:10So that we are on that movement is in the same direction as far
- 41:16as our life together but having the individual movement as well.
- 41:21Hmm. Well, I think that's it really
- 41:23important. I mean, you know, we've talked
- 41:25about that with all different types of relationships.
- 41:28I mean, if you're working on growth, you know, and you want a
- 41:33better understanding of yourself, you know, and you're
- 41:38At work, it's going to have impact on all your relationships
- 41:43as part of that motion. And I think if we've talked to
- 41:45you in about that about, you know, that we really shifted a
- 41:48lot to really investing more in to our relationship because
- 41:52they're valuable if our to us and it truly work because you
- 41:55can almost see that it's almost like you do that and you do with
- 41:58intention and then you can see that change from the other
- 42:01person side too. So it starts to help that
- 42:04movement in the same direction even with that.
- 42:07So it's kind of a A really neat thing.
- 42:08And if people take the time to sit and think about it and, you
- 42:11know, really be in the moment and focus on that motion and
- 42:16those things that's kind of really a meat.
- 42:17They are is because you you realize that that volek, I am an
- 42:22active participant. I'm not move, we were other
- 42:25people are taking me or I emotions tank.
- 42:29I'm in the driver's seat and I'm the one driving that motion.
- 42:34Yeah. That movement and it's going to
- 42:35go where I want it to go. And it's going to evolve the,
- 42:40you know, in that whatever you see in your mind.
- 42:42So, I guess for today, it's that thing of the importance of
- 42:45movement, and it's always happening.
- 42:48But either it's going to move without you being aware of it.
- 42:52And then we're going to, we get upset with it, not realizing
- 42:55that we have to pause and be an active participant in our own
- 42:59lives, whether it's our movement of our body, the movement of our
- 43:03mind, our spirit, you know, our faith-based whatever.
- 43:08That is to develop that and grow that and nurture.
- 43:11That be an active participant. And I'm telling you, there's
- 43:16something about dance, it goes hand in hand, with our last
- 43:19episode of music, music and dance.
- 43:22You know, I tell you we have music on in here, a majority of
- 43:24the time. The only time we don't have it
- 43:25on his when I'm working, because I'd be listening to the music,
- 43:29or I might get a little distracted by my client.
- 43:32What's that song Milk? But I talk to my clients a lot
- 43:35about music. So but you know, once again,
- 43:38That investment have fun with the movement.
- 43:41Yeah, whether it's the movement of your mind or the movement of
- 43:45your body, or even if it's the development of your
- 43:48spirituality, whether have fun with it, make it a joyous thing,
- 43:52your relationships, the way you love.
- 43:56Expand on it, make it joyful. I know, that's what we work at.
- 44:01Hmm, so we hope you enjoyed the episode this week, you know, and
- 44:06we hope we encourage you, even if it's just one person, A
- 44:08person to say, you know what? I think I'm going to put on my
- 44:10dancing shoes. Hmm, get up a free stop.
- 44:14There you go. If you have that friend, who
- 44:16doesn't dance a certain way, or needs a dance lesson by golly?
- 44:19Do it? I got a real quick story.
- 44:21To when Tammy, when we were going to Fort Collins, she want
- 44:25we would go out to the bar while her boyfriend at the time, would
- 44:29dance did not dance country. So I would she would tell me you
- 44:33go down for them. So I would go dance with him
- 44:35because I danced more his style. I thought they were like, let's
- 44:39just work on that girl. Let's just work on it.
- 44:42I'm have to follow up with her in fact on how she's to Forfeit
- 44:44their freestyled. That's my goal for the weekend.
- 44:49Anyway, we hope that you guys have a really fantastic week and
- 44:53we will be back next week. My
