  This week in ארץ ישראל and the world we read two separate פרשיות.

  In ארץ ישראל we read פרשת קורח about the rebellion of קורח and the

  עדה.

  And in חוץ לארץ we read פרשת שלח,

  the פרשה of the מרגלים.

  Two פרשיות that changed history and really were turning points in the way we
• 0:33
  perceive תורה,
• 0:33
  the way we perceive the leadership of משה רבינו,
• 0:36
  and by the מרגלים we didn't go into ארץ ישראל.
• 0:42
  We had to change course.
• 0:45
  40 years in the desert.
• 0:48
  How are we supposed to handle all of this back and forth,
• 0:50
  all of these difficulties,
• 0:51
  these challenges?
• 0:53
  Why do we need them,
• 0:54
  and where do they come from,
• 0:55
  and what's the point?
• 0:58
  How are we supposed to relate to these sudden changes that happen,
• 1:01
  a change of course of history?
• 1:06
  One of the ways is certainly to understand and appreciate that it all comes
• 1:12
  from הקדוש ברוך הוא.
• 1:14
  Without a question,
• 1:15
  it comes from הקדוש ברוך הוא.
• 1:18
  No matter how we're supposed to understand that.
• 1:20
  What does that mean?
• 1:22
  Let's look at the case of the מרגלים for a moment.

  The case of the מרגלים was a sin that unfortunately brought us to the
• 1:31
  punishment that we're no longer going to be able to go into ארץ ישראל.
• 1:35
  The דור המדבר was now going to die and only the next generation get
• 1:41
  into the land.
• 1:42
  But what happened?
• 1:46
  What's the point?
• 1:47
  Is there something larger here?
• 1:52
  The נציב and the מלבים describe that the ideal that הקדוש ברוך הוא had
• 1:57
  planned was that we're all going to go to ארץ ישראל and when we
• 2:00
  get to ארץ ישראל,
• 2:01
  ארץ ישראל was going to be a לב לגוף.
• 2:03
  It was going to be just like a heart to the body,
• 2:07
  ארץ ישראל to the world.
• 2:08
  And you're going to be able to have the קדושה and the טהרה and
• 2:13
  the modeling of the Jewish people that would be spread from ארץ ישראל to
• 2:17
  the rest of the world.
• 2:19
  But what happened when the מרגלים came back and said that ארץ ישראל נמאס
• 2:24
  לנו,
• 2:24
  it's repulsive to us?
• 2:28
  We were no longer זוכה to that.
• 2:31
  And therefore we had to stay in the מדבר.
• 2:33
  But the description in other places in תנך is that this wasn't just about
• 2:39
  staying in the מדבר 40 days,
• 2:41
  but rather this was a גזירה of גלות.
• 2:44
  We now had to stay in גלות.
• 2:46
  Stay in גלות?
• 2:48
  Why?
• 2:49
  What happened to the goal?
• 2:50
  הקדוש ברוך הוא had to change it.
• 2:53
  We were no longer going to be a heart to a גוף,
• 2:56
  but rather now he had to spread us everywhere.

  And if he spread us everywhere,

  hopefully we'll be able to succeed and promote תורה,
• 3:07
  הקדוש ברוך הוא,
• 3:09
  ידיעת השם everywhere in the world.

  The ideal to get back to ארץ ישראל for sure,
• 3:17
  but that would become our mission,
• 3:19
  a very,
• 3:19
  very dangerous one.
• 3:21
  We know the assimilation that happens in חוץ לארץ.
• 3:24
  We know the difficulties in חוץ לארץ.
• 3:26
  But yet we always have to maintain our mission is still there.

  But what's the idea?
• 3:35
  Why?
• 3:36
  Do we really need to be all out there?
• 3:40
  The רמבם in פרק יא of ספר מלכים writes something unbelievable.

  He writes,
• 3:49
  even ישו and even מוחמד of Islam,
• 3:57
  even they were part of the plan of הקדוש ברוך הוא.

  What do you mean?
• 4:05
  ישו הנוצרי,
• 4:08
  you know how much death has brought to the world of the Jews,
• 4:11
  how much hate,
• 4:13
  so much.
• 4:15
  But he's part of the plan.
• 4:16
  הקדוש ברוך הוא says it is part of the plan because at some point
• 4:24
  בעזרת השם we're going to have משיח and the משיח will bring a תיקון
• 4:28
  to the whole world.
• 4:30
  But we need the world to appreciate it.
• 4:33
  The only way the world can appreciate it is if they have a feeling
• 4:37
  and a sense that there's something called a savior.
• 4:40
  They're wrong,
• 4:41
  absolutely wrong.
• 4:44
  But at least when we come and start spreading משיח,
• 4:49
  they'll like 'I know what that means'.
• 4:52
  That's the craziest thing.
• 4:55
  Even things so far away from יידישקייט are ממש part of the plan of
• 5:02
  הקדוש ברוך הוא.
• 5:03
  Even when things change so quickly.
• 5:05
  Included within every single aspect of the plan of הקדוש ברוך הוא.
• 5:06
  But why does it happen?
• 5:07
  We don't know.
• 5:09
  We have no way of understanding,
• 5:10
  no way of appreciating it.
• 5:13
  But we look to הקדוש ברוך הוא and understand that every difficulty that we
• 5:16
  go through,
• 5:17
  every challenge that we go through.
• 5:19
  And nowadays I really think we have that with the war.

  Sometimes we have this feeling like,
• 5:23
  oh,
• 5:23
  we're going to finish our problems,
• 5:25
  everything's going to be done.
• 5:26
  And then no,
• 5:28
  it stops.
• 5:28
  And then it starts again,
• 5:30
  and it stops.
• 5:31
  We have no idea.
• 5:35
  הקדוש ברוך הוא's in charge.
• 5:38
  We should never ever think otherwise.
• 5:40
  הקדוש ברוך הוא's running the show,
• 5:42
  and no matter what it is,
• 5:44
  הקדוש ברוך הוא's going to bring us to the greatest glory that we'll ever
• 5:47
  have.
• 5:48
  We should always be זוכה to build off our challenges,
• 5:54
  bring more successes,
• 5:56
  and בעזרת השם be זוכה to משיח צדקנו in our coming days.
