Latest / The Ben Ferguson Podcast / Trump's Tariff Triumph-Polls Show Rising Approval on Trade
Transcript
- 0:01Speaker 1: Hang tough.
- 0:02Speaker 2: That is the message from President Donald Trump calling on
- 0:05Speaker 2: Americans to ride out the tariff storm, and the American
- 0:09Speaker 2: people are sticking with Donald Trump. New poll numbers are
- 0:13Speaker 2: showing Trump's job approval didn't go down, didn't even stay even.
- 0:18Speaker 2: In fact, it rose during the tariff week. Another media fail.
- 0:23Speaker 2: Trump's job approval rises four points as he puts Americans
- 0:28Speaker 2: first to fifty three percent.
- 0:31Speaker 1: If you were.
- 0:32Speaker 2: Watching the mainstream media, it was armageddon. As Donald Trump said,
- 0:36Speaker 2: I'm going to stand up for American workers, bring back
- 0:39Speaker 2: American jobs, and I'm not flinching on tariffs with other
- 0:42Speaker 2: countries that are taking advantage of the US. This poll
- 0:46Speaker 2: that was taken with over one thousand registered voters between
- 0:50Speaker 2: March the thirty first and April the third, show that
- 0:53Speaker 2: Donald Trump's four point jump in job approval was not
- 0:57Speaker 2: the only rise since March. Trump's job approval from young
- 1:02Speaker 2: voters between the ages of eighteen and twenty nine has
- 1:05Speaker 2: jumped a staggering thirteen points, as many of them are
- 1:09Speaker 2: looking at jobs and manufacturing is a great opportunity for them.
- 1:13Speaker 2: Among independent and Democrats, Trump enjoyed a six point increase,
- 1:19Speaker 2: meaning that the Democratic talking points aren't even working on
- 1:22Speaker 2: their own party. Most telling, support from black voters jumped
- 1:27Speaker 2: a whopping seventeen points in a single week. Why because
- 1:32Speaker 2: they feel like the president is actually trying to get.
- 1:34Speaker 1: Them a great job.
- 1:37Speaker 2: Finally, more people's support than oppose Donald Trump's tariffs on
- 1:41Speaker 2: foreign countries by a margin of thirty nine percent support
- 1:47Speaker 2: to thirty seven percent. That oppose the complete opposite of
- 1:51Speaker 2: the story that was being told by those on the
- 1:55Speaker 2: left and in the media. Now with all of that,
- 1:59Speaker 2: you now knowing that the media is lying to you,
- 2:02Speaker 2: here's something else that they're not telling you, and that
- 2:05Speaker 2: is that the tariffs are actually working, bringing people.
- 2:09Speaker 1: The table outside the White House.
- 2:12Speaker 2: Giving an update on ABC this week, here is what
- 2:15Speaker 2: they said.
- 2:16Speaker 3: I got a report from the USDR last night that
- 2:19Speaker 3: more than fifty countries have reached out to the President
- 2:21Speaker 3: to begin a negotiation. But they're doing that because they
- 2:24Speaker 3: understand that they bear a lot of the tariff. And
- 2:26Speaker 3: so I don't think that you're going to see a
- 2:28Speaker 3: big effect on the consumer in the US, because I
- 2:31Speaker 3: do think that the reason why we have a persistent
- 2:34Speaker 3: long run trade deficit is these people have very inelastic supply.
- 2:37Speaker 3: They've been dumping goods into the country in order to
- 2:39Speaker 3: create jobs, say in China.
- 2:41Speaker 2: That coming from one of Trump's top economic advisors. So
- 2:46Speaker 2: what is actually happening with different countries? India and Vietnam,
- 2:50Speaker 2: for example, are making major moves and negotiations, in other words,
- 2:56Speaker 2: buckling and seeking a deal with President Trump on on tariffs.
- 3:01Speaker 2: As you heard there from the White House, more than
- 3:03Speaker 2: fifty countries have reached out to the White House to
- 3:05Speaker 2: begin those negotiations and his President Trump and his team
- 3:08Speaker 2: said early on those that show up first will probably
- 3:12Speaker 2: get the best deal, and those that hold out, it's
- 3:15Speaker 2: gonna hurt your economy more than ours. Now, let's talk
- 3:19Speaker 2: about what happened with Vietnam. In a major victory that
- 3:22Speaker 2: could even be announced sometime this week, Trump saying that
- 3:26Speaker 2: Vietnam is now offering to cut tariffs on America to.
- 3:31Speaker 1: The number of zero.
- 3:34Speaker 2: President Donald Trump announcing that Vietnam wants to drop the
- 3:37Speaker 2: tariff on US goods entirely if a deal can be
- 3:40Speaker 2: struck between the two countries. Trump revealed the major development
- 3:44Speaker 2: following a phone call with the General secretary of Vietnam's
- 3:48Speaker 2: Communist party, Tol Lom I. Just had a very productive
- 3:52Speaker 2: call with the General Secretary of the Communist Party of Vietnam.
- 3:56Speaker 2: Trump announced, who told me that Vietnam wants to cut
- 3:59Speaker 2: their tariffs down to zero if they're able to make
- 4:02Speaker 2: an agreement with the US. We also know the Vietnam
- 4:06Speaker 2: flew with an emergency delegation to Washington, DC, arrived on Friday,
- 4:11Speaker 2: and are staying for fourteen days to get the deal
- 4:14Speaker 2: done now. The call comes days after Trump announces sweeping
- 4:18Speaker 2: worldwide reciprocal and baseline tariffs, which included a hefty forty
- 4:23Speaker 2: six percent discounted reciprocal tariff on Vietnamese goods and ported
- 4:28Speaker 2: into America. The President saying quote, I thanked him on
- 4:33Speaker 2: behalf of our country, and I said I look forward
- 4:35Speaker 2: to a meeting in the near future. The reciprocal tariffs
- 4:39Speaker 2: Trump imposed on many countries will take effect after midnight
- 4:43Speaker 2: on April the ninth, this coming week, while the ten
- 4:47Speaker 2: percent baseline tariffs on other nations are set to take.
- 4:49Speaker 1: Effect on Saturday.
- 4:52Speaker 2: Nike stock, for example, plunged on Wednesday and into Thursday
- 4:56Speaker 2: following Trump's tariff announcement. The company has one hundred and
- 5:00Speaker 2: thirty factories in Vietnam and some four hundred and sixty
- 5:03Speaker 2: thousand workers. This is just one example of exactly why
- 5:07Speaker 2: Donald Trump is winning on the issue of tariffs.
- 5:10Speaker 1: And it's not just Vietnam.
- 5:12Speaker 2: There are also other countries that are running to sit
- 5:15Speaker 2: down with the President, including India. More than the fifty
- 5:19Speaker 2: countries that have reached out the White House to begin
- 5:22Speaker 2: their trade talks, and top economic advisors saying this on
- 5:26Speaker 2: Sunday that we believe this will be quote a sweeping
- 5:30Speaker 2: new set of tariffs that will be announced at new
- 5:34Speaker 2: and different levels because the companies that have come forward.
- 5:38Speaker 2: You look at places like India and they are eager
- 5:41Speaker 2: to sit down and work with the American people and
- 5:45Speaker 2: this government. Now, yes, the US stock market is tumbled
- 5:48Speaker 2: by around ten percent of the two days since Trump's
- 5:50Speaker 2: announce a new global tariff around the world. But what
- 5:55Speaker 2: we also know is that the President told the American
- 5:57Speaker 2: people hang tough, and based on the poll numbers, the
- 6:01Speaker 2: American people understand what Donald Trump is trying to do.
- 6:04Speaker 1: They have faith in what he's doing.
- 6:06Speaker 2: And they believe that the President has leverage to get
- 6:08Speaker 2: it done for the American worker and so that we're
- 6:12Speaker 2: not being taken advantage of any longer After more than
- 6:16Speaker 2: a year of war, tear and pain in Israel, the
- 6:19Speaker 2: need for security essentials and support for first responders is
- 6:24Speaker 2: still critical. Israel must be prepared for the next attack,
- 6:28Speaker 2: wherever it may come from, as Israel is surrounded by
- 6:30Speaker 2: enemies on all sides. And while the International Fellowship of
- 6:34Speaker 2: Christians and Jews has supported and will continue to support
- 6:38Speaker 2: the people of Israel with life saving security essentials, and
- 6:42Speaker 2: that is where your gift will help save lives by
- 6:44Speaker 2: providing bomb shelters, armored security vehicles, armored ambulances, firefighting equipment,
- 6:51Speaker 2: flat jackets and bulletproof vests and so much more. That's
- 6:55Speaker 2: where your generous donation today will help ensure the people
- 6:58Speaker 2: of Israel are safe and secure in the days and
- 7:01Speaker 2: weeks to come, and as the threats of terror remain imminent.
- 7:05Speaker 2: So give a gift to bless israel Inner people by
- 7:08Speaker 2: visiting SUPPORTIFCJ dot org. That's one word, support IFCJ dot org,
- 7:15Speaker 2: or call eight at eight for eight eight IFCJ that's
- 7:20Speaker 2: eight at eight four eight eight, IFCJ eight at eight
- 7:24Speaker 2: four eight eight four three two five, or support IFCJ
- 7:29Speaker 2: dot org. Taiwan's president, by the way, on Sunday, offered
- 7:33Speaker 2: zero tariffs as the basis for talks with the US,
- 7:36Speaker 2: as well, pledging to remove trade barriers rather than imposing
- 7:40Speaker 2: reciprocal measures, and saying Taiwanese companies will raise their US
- 7:45Speaker 2: investments as well. Unlike other economists, Hassett said he did
- 7:50Speaker 2: not expect a big hit to consumers because exports were
- 7:54Speaker 2: likely to lower prices. He said to NBC News in
- 7:57Speaker 2: the White House he did not anticipate a recession based
- 8:00Speaker 2: on the tariffs, citing stronger than anticipated US job growth, saying, quote,
- 8:06Speaker 2: we could see from the job numbers on Friday that
- 8:10Speaker 2: was well above expectations that we are moving forward, So
- 8:13Speaker 2: I see no reason to have to worry about the
- 8:17Speaker 2: price moving US into a recession. Another example of Donald
- 8:21Speaker 2: Trump realizing that he has leverage in the world, understanding
- 8:24Speaker 2: he's not messing around is in Saudi Arabia, where the
- 8:27Speaker 2: markets were open on Sunday.
- 8:30Speaker 1: What happened.
- 8:31Speaker 2: They were down six point seven eight percent, the worst
- 8:34Speaker 2: daily loss since the COVID nineteen pandemic, according to state media.
- 8:39Speaker 1: Larry Summers, formerly the director of.
- 8:41Speaker 2: The National Economic Council under President Barack Obama, said this
- 8:45Speaker 2: there is a very good chance there's going to be
- 8:47Speaker 2: more turbulence in the markets. The way we saw on
- 8:51Speaker 2: Thursday and Friday. A drop like that following the announcement
- 8:54Speaker 2: of tariff signals that they're likely to be trouble ahead
- 8:57Speaker 2: and people ought to be very cautious. He wrote on
- 9:00Speaker 2: X Well, that's the doom and gloom they're trying to
- 9:03Speaker 2: sell you. What they're not telling you is there's a
- 9:05Speaker 2: good chance that even this week, there could be announcements
- 9:09Speaker 2: of movement and new deals made between the Trump administration
- 9:13Speaker 2: and several major trade partners. Pierre Navarro, Trump's tariff guru,
- 9:18Speaker 2: is pushed back against the mounting nervousness and insisted the investors, well,
- 9:24Speaker 2: you can move. You can't lose money unless you sell.
- 9:27Speaker 2: In other words, going back to the message from Trump,
- 9:30Speaker 2: and what did Donald Trump say?
- 9:32Speaker 1: He said, I need you to quote hang in there. Now.
- 9:36Speaker 2: Let's take a moment and just put into perspective when
- 9:40Speaker 2: you look at guys like Larry Summers, the former director
- 9:43Speaker 2: of the National Economic Council under Obama, he wants the
- 9:47Speaker 2: world to freak out.
- 9:48Speaker 1: He wants you to turn on Trump, and he wants.
- 9:51Speaker 2: You to say I'm leaving you and then give Republicans
- 9:55Speaker 2: on out in the House that are rhinos and squishy
- 9:59Speaker 2: to walk away from the President on tariffs. That's why
- 10:02Speaker 2: they're all doing this. Putting in perspective, look at Peter Navarro,
- 10:08Speaker 2: this is Trump's tariff guru. He is pushing back hard
- 10:12Speaker 2: against the quote mounting nervousness and insisted to investors that
- 10:17Speaker 2: you can't lose money unless you sell if you aren't
- 10:22Speaker 2: planning on using your money like right now that you
- 10:25Speaker 2: have in your investments, and just don't do anything, don't
- 10:28Speaker 2: sell it right now.
- 10:30Speaker 1: Quote.
- 10:30Speaker 2: The smart strategy is not to panic, just stay in
- 10:33Speaker 2: because we're going to have the biggest boom in the
- 10:35Speaker 2: stock market we've ever seen under the Trump policies. That
- 10:40Speaker 2: is what Navarro has become the public face of tariffs,
- 10:42Speaker 2: said on Fox News, Russia has not been targeted by
- 10:47Speaker 2: the latest raft of tariffs, and also has to say
- 10:50Speaker 2: that with Moscow over the invasion, the talks with Moscow
- 10:54Speaker 2: over the invasion of Ukraine as the main reason why
- 10:57Speaker 2: they've been left off the hit list so far. Again,
- 11:00Speaker 2: the President wants to end that war, saying, quote, there's
- 11:03Speaker 2: obviously an ongoing negotiation with Russia and Ukraine. And I
- 11:07Speaker 2: think the President made the decision not to conflate the
- 11:10Speaker 2: two issues. It doesn't mean that Russia, and the fullest
- 11:12Speaker 2: of time, is going to be treated wildly different than
- 11:15Speaker 2: every other country. The White House officials also suggest the
- 11:18Speaker 2: reason for Russia's a mission was because trade was negligible
- 11:24Speaker 2: thanks to all of the sanctions that we actually have
- 11:27Speaker 2: on Russia for their invasion of Ukraine. Now, Trump has
- 11:32Speaker 2: long insisted that countries around the world that sell products
- 11:36Speaker 2: to the US are in fact ripping Americans off, and
- 11:40Speaker 2: he sees tariffs says a mean to right that wrong.
- 11:44Speaker 2: This is clearly something where the President says, I'm digging
- 11:47Speaker 2: in and I'm going to dig in, and I need
- 11:50Speaker 2: you to understand why I'm digging in, and I need
- 11:52Speaker 2: you to hang with me. I need you to not panic.
- 11:56Speaker 2: I think most Americans trust the President. You look at
- 12:01Speaker 2: Vietnam offering to cut tariffs to tariffs on American goods
- 12:04Speaker 2: to zero, y'all.
- 12:06Speaker 1: That's massive. That is just huge, the President.
- 12:12Speaker 2: Saying to Vietnam, quote, I thanked him on behalf of
- 12:15Speaker 2: our country and said I look forward to a meeting
- 12:17Speaker 2: in the near future. Why do you say that, because
- 12:19Speaker 2: he says he understands like, you want to get a
- 12:21Speaker 2: deal done.
- 12:21Speaker 1: Let's get a deal done. You want to do this,
- 12:24Speaker 1: Let's do this.
- 12:25Speaker 2: There's also a lot of other companies that are, I'm
- 12:28Speaker 2: sure putting pressure on the nations where they manufacture to
- 12:32Speaker 2: get a deal done. I mentioned earlier Nike. What do
- 12:36Speaker 2: you think was happening in Nike's headquarters. Nike has one
- 12:40Speaker 2: hundred and thirty factories in Vietnam, almost a half million workers.
- 12:46Speaker 2: Nike's stock opened at fifty three to twenty two per
- 12:50Speaker 2: share on Friday. They saw a jump as high as
- 12:52Speaker 2: fifty eight to seventy three in the minutes after Trump's
- 12:55Speaker 2: true social announcement okay it was trading any were from
- 13:00Speaker 2: sixty three to sixty five in the days before a
- 13:02Speaker 2: sharp drop off during the present's announcement on Tuesday, which
- 13:06Speaker 2: he called Liberation Day. Why do their stock jump because
- 13:09Speaker 2: Donald Trump is may it clear, I'm not playing games.
- 13:12Speaker 2: If you come to the table, and you're one of
- 13:14Speaker 2: these countries and you come to the table, I'm.
- 13:17Speaker 1: All in, let's get a deal done.
- 13:21Speaker 2: Trump on Thursday morning, for example, likened to sweeping tear
- 13:25Speaker 2: plan to the country's trade imbalances, to quote a successful
- 13:29Speaker 2: surgery on the patient, saying this, the operation is over,
- 13:36Speaker 2: the patient lived and is healing. The prognosis is that
- 13:40Speaker 2: the patient will be far stronger, bigger, better, and more
- 13:45Speaker 2: resilient than ever before. Make America great again. That's what
- 13:50Speaker 2: he wrote, trying to give perspective to exactly what is
- 13:53Speaker 2: going on and what is happening now. I go back
- 13:56Speaker 2: to the media here and what they're saying. They want
- 14:01Speaker 2: you to be angry with Trump. They want you to
- 14:03Speaker 2: walk away, right like they they want you to walk away.
- 14:08Speaker 2: The President was asked on Air Force one earlier today
- 14:12Speaker 2: about all of this pain threshold in the market, because
- 14:16Speaker 2: there are people expecting the market's going to lose on
- 14:18Speaker 2: Monday and probably on Tuesday this week because of this.
- 14:23Speaker 2: What did the President say here? He is his own
- 14:25Speaker 2: words moments ago.
- 14:27Speaker 4: You just want it should be they're in the market there,
- 14:32Speaker 4: even in the market at some point, you're unwilling to
- 14:35Speaker 4: tolerate this idea of a Trump.
- 14:36Speaker 5: Put is there a threshold?
- 14:38Speaker 4: I think your question is so stupid, but I mean,
- 14:40Speaker 4: I think it's a I don't want anything to go down,
- 14:44Speaker 4: but sometimes you have to take medicine to fix something
- 14:47Speaker 4: and we have such a horrible We have been treated
- 14:52Speaker 4: so badly by other countries because we had.
- 14:56Speaker 5: Stupid leadership that allowed this to happen.
- 14:58Speaker 4: They took our businesses, they took our money, they took
- 15:01Speaker 4: our jobs. They moved into Mexico, they moved it to Canada,
- 15:05Speaker 4: they moved a lot of it to China.
- 15:07Speaker 5: And it's not sustainable. We're not going to do it now.
- 15:10Speaker 5: We have hundreds of billions of dollars is pouring into
- 15:13Speaker 5: our country on a monthly basis. It's pooring.
- 15:16Speaker 4: It's already started because they put tariff's u and eventually
- 15:20Speaker 4: it's going to straighten out and our country would be
- 15:22Speaker 4: solid and strong again.
- 15:24Speaker 5: Elon usks it.
- 15:26Speaker 2: The President making it clear he's not wavering, he's not cracking.
- 15:31Speaker 2: Treasury Secretary also on TV, he said this about the
- 15:36Speaker 2: idea and the possibility of a recession.
- 15:40Speaker 6: All right, let me ask you about one of the
- 15:41Speaker 6: big questions recession. As you know, analysts say the chances
- 15:45Speaker 6: of a recession are rising in the wake of the
- 15:47Speaker 6: tariffs announced this week. Do you believe that President Trump's
- 15:51Speaker 6: tariffs are risking the chances of a recession.
- 15:56Speaker 7: I don't, and I think we could see from the
- 15:58Speaker 7: jobs number on writing that was well above expectations. That
- 16:03Speaker 7: we are moving forward, so I see no reason that
- 16:08Speaker 7: we have to price iner reception.
- 16:11Speaker 6: Okay, before I let you go, I know you've been
- 16:14Speaker 6: one of the official spearheading the efforts to get President
- 16:17Speaker 6: Trump's budget bill passed on Capitol Hill. It includes the
- 16:22Speaker 6: President's plans for tax cuts, extending the twenty seventeen tax cuts.
- 16:26Speaker 6: For example, are you confident that the President's budget bill
- 16:30Speaker 6: will pass before the August recess?
- 16:33Speaker 7: We are shooting for even a much earlier date. And
- 16:37Speaker 7: Chris and I, I can tell you the underreported story
- 16:40Speaker 7: in DC is it's fun from our side of the
- 16:43Speaker 7: aisle to watch the Democratic chaos. But the underreported story
- 16:47Speaker 7: is the Republican unity. And Speaker Johnson has done an
- 16:51Speaker 7: incredible job with a small minority. He got reconciliation instructions
- 16:56Speaker 7: out on the first try. He got a clean continuing
- 16:59Speaker 7: resolution Speaker Thoon, the Senate issued the reconciliation instructions, so
- 17:06Speaker 7: things are moving very quickly.
- 17:08Speaker 6: Very quickly. President Trump called on the FED chair to
- 17:11Speaker 6: lower interest rates. Do you think that Fed chairs, your
- 17:14Speaker 6: own power, should lower interest rates?
- 17:16Speaker 7: I think that when we see inflation dropping that the
- 17:21Speaker 7: Fed will do what as always does and lower rates.
- 17:25Speaker 7: But in the meantime, what we can control is the
- 17:28Speaker 7: longer term rate, the tenure rate, which hit a new
- 17:32Speaker 7: low on Friday. That's where mortgages are priced. That's where
- 17:36Speaker 7: long term capital formation is priced. And you back to
- 17:39Speaker 7: the tax the deal. When we can pass that, we
- 17:44Speaker 7: will have economic certainty.
- 17:46Speaker 2: Okay, you can hear the Treasury secretary there there's no
- 17:49Speaker 2: reason to markets to price in a recession. You look
- 17:54Speaker 2: at the data and everything that President Trump's doing right
- 17:57Speaker 2: now seems to be spot on. While we may have
- 18:01Speaker 2: won this election, the fight to restore our great nation
- 18:03Speaker 2: is only beginning, and now is the time to take
- 18:06Speaker 2: a stand, and Patriot Mobile is leading the charge. It
- 18:10Speaker 2: has never been easier to switch your cell phone than
- 18:14Speaker 2: in twenty twenty five. With technology, you can do it
- 18:16Speaker 2: literally over the phone with a code they send you.
- 18:20Speaker 2: It is amazing. But here's the reason why I use
- 18:23Speaker 2: Patriot Mobile now. One I save money over what I
- 18:26Speaker 2: was paying before with Big Mobile, and two, I'm no
- 18:29Speaker 2: longer supporting the radical left now. I didn't realize until
- 18:33Speaker 2: someone told me just how radical Big Mobile had gotten
- 18:36Speaker 2: where they are supporting organizations that pay for abortions or
- 18:39Speaker 2: supporting radical democratic causes and organizations. They're helping Democrats get
- 18:44Speaker 2: elect it at the local, state, and national level. That
- 18:47Speaker 2: is actually why over a decade ago Patriot Mobile was
- 18:50Speaker 2: started and they are now America's only Christian conservative wireless provider.
- 18:56Speaker 1: Now, let's talk about coverage.
- 18:57Speaker 2: In twenty twenty five, you have zero problems with coverage
- 19:01Speaker 2: anymore because well, Patriot Mobile uses all three major networks.
- 19:05Speaker 1: What does that mean for you?
- 19:06Speaker 2: It means whatever coverage you're used to now you're going
- 19:09Speaker 2: to stay exactly the same, or you may even be
- 19:12Speaker 2: able to improve it, but it will not be any
- 19:15Speaker 2: issues when it comes to coverage. In fact, they have
- 19:17Speaker 2: a coverage guarantee. But when you pay your bill, this
- 19:20Speaker 2: is where the magic happens. They take a portion of
- 19:23Speaker 2: your bill every month and they give it back to
- 19:25Speaker 2: organizations that support our first and our second amendments, that
- 19:29Speaker 2: support the sanctity of life, that support our veterans, our
- 19:32Speaker 2: first responders, and are wounded warriors. And like I said,
- 19:36Speaker 2: switching with technology now has never been easier. You keep
- 19:40Speaker 2: your same phone you have now, keep your same phone number,
- 19:43Speaker 2: and you can even upgrade to a new phone if
- 19:44Speaker 2: you want to. They have a one hundred percent US

- 20:14Speaker 2: Patriot Mobile dot com slash ferguson or nine seven to
- 20:18Speaker 2: two Patriot. There are a lot of people that have said,
- 20:21Speaker 2: how did Donald Trump get the idea to do what
- 20:26Speaker 2: he's doing with tariffs and the American First policy. There
- 20:30Speaker 2: are many that are acting like this is a chaotic plan,
- 20:33Speaker 2: a dysfunctional plan, a plan that is radical or extreme
- 20:38Speaker 2: that should never have happened, and it happened on.
- 20:40Speaker 1: A whim from Donald Trump.
- 20:43Speaker 2: There isn't a bigger lie than that coming out of
- 20:45Speaker 2: the conversation with tariffs. How do we know that this
- 20:49Speaker 2: is a belief that Donald Trump has had for quite
- 20:51Speaker 2: some time. Well, you can look back to nineteen eighty eight.
- 20:56Speaker 2: President Donald Trump was on the Oprah Winfrey Show talking
- 21:01Speaker 2: about countries ripping America off in the trade war. She
- 21:07Speaker 2: also asked him about running for office, and he said
- 21:11Speaker 2: something else that was obviously very clear. He said he
- 21:15Speaker 2: didn't think he was going to run for office unless
- 21:18Speaker 2: things got really, really, really bad. Those two things came
- 21:24Speaker 2: to fruition. And this is all the way back in
- 21:28Speaker 2: nineteen eighty eight. So if you think Donald Trump is
- 21:32Speaker 2: messing around, he's not. He's believed it and been planning
- 21:36Speaker 2: it for more than thirty years.
- 21:38Speaker 8: Last year criticizing US foreign policy, what would you do differently.
- 21:41Speaker 9: Donald, I'd make our allies forgetting about the enemies, the
- 21:44Speaker 9: enemies you can't talk to so easily. I'd make our
- 21:46Speaker 9: allies pay their fair share. We're a debtor nation. Something's
- 21:50Speaker 9: going to happen over the next number of years with
- 21:51Speaker 9: this country because you can't keep going on losing two
- 21:53Speaker 9: hundred billion, and yet we let your pan come in
- 21:56Speaker 9: and dump everything right into our markets and everything. It's
- 21:59Speaker 9: not free trade. If you ever go to Japan right
- 22:01Speaker 9: now and try to sell something, forget about it. Open,
- 22:03Speaker 9: just forget about it. It's almost impossible. They don't have
- 22:06Speaker 9: laws against it, they just make it impossible. They come
- 22:08Speaker 9: over here, they sell their cars, they're VCRs. They knock
- 22:11Speaker 9: the hell out of our companies. And hey, I have
- 22:13Speaker 9: tremendous respect for the Japanese people. I mean, you can
- 22:15Speaker 9: respect somebody that's beating the hell out of you, But
- 22:17Speaker 9: they are beating the hell out of this country Kuwait.
- 22:20Speaker 9: They live like kings. The poorest person in Kuwait they
- 22:22Speaker 9: live like kings. And yet they're not paying. We make
- 22:25Speaker 9: it possible for them to sell their oil. Why aren't
- 22:27Speaker 9: they paying us twenty five percent of what they're making.
- 22:30Speaker 9: It's a joke.
- 22:31Speaker 8: This sounds like political presidential talk to me. And I
- 22:34Speaker 8: know people have talked to you about whether or not
- 22:35Speaker 8: you want to run.
- 22:36Speaker 1: Would you ever?
- 22:38Speaker 9: Probably not? But I do get tired of seeing the
- 22:41Speaker 9: country ripple.
- 22:41Speaker 1: Why would you not?
- 22:42Speaker 9: I just don't think I really have the inclination to
- 22:45Speaker 9: do it. I love what I'm doing, I really like.
- 22:47Speaker 8: It also doesn't pay as well, but you know.
- 22:52Speaker 9: I just probably wouldn't do it. I probably wouldn't, but
- 22:54Speaker 9: I do get tired of seeing what's happening with this country.
- 22:57Speaker 9: And if it got so bad, I would never want
- 22:59Speaker 9: to rule it out totally because I really am tired
- 23:01Speaker 9: of seeing what's happening with this country, how we're really
- 23:05Speaker 9: making other people live like kings and we're not.
- 23:07Speaker 8: What do you think of this year's presidential race the
- 23:09Speaker 8: way it's shaping.
- 23:10Speaker 9: Up, Well, it's going to be very interesting. I think
- 23:13Speaker 9: that probably George Bush has an advantage in terms of
- 23:16Speaker 9: the election. I think that probably people would say that
- 23:18Speaker 9: he's got like that little edge in terms of the incumbency,
- 23:21Speaker 9: et cetera, et cetera. But I think Jesse Jackson's done
- 23:23Speaker 9: himself very proud. I think Michael Ducacus has done one
- 23:26Speaker 9: hell of a job, and George Bush has done a
- 23:28Speaker 9: hell of a job. You know, they all went in
- 23:30Speaker 9: there sort of a semi underdogs, including George Bush, and
- 23:33Speaker 9: they've all come out. I think people that are around
- 23:35Speaker 9: all three of those candidates can be very proud of
- 23:37Speaker 9: the jobs they've done.
- 23:39Speaker 2: You listen to Donald Trump then, and there's a couple
- 23:43Speaker 2: of things there that are very consistent. He said, our
- 23:47Speaker 2: allies are ripping us off. They're ripping Americans off in trade,
- 23:53Speaker 2: and we start there. He also said it's a little
- 23:56Speaker 2: bit tougher with our adversaries. Great example of that is
- 24:00Speaker 2: what he's dealing with with Russia right now. There are
- 24:02Speaker 2: many in the press trying to attack Donald Trump for
- 24:06Speaker 2: not putting major sanctions on Russia. Well, he says he's
- 24:10Speaker 2: trying to stop a war between Russia and Ukraine. Why
- 24:13Speaker 2: complicate things and make things worse by throwing tariffs on them?
- 24:17Speaker 2: But there's also a second point that the media is
- 24:21Speaker 2: omitting from the facts.
- 24:23Speaker 1: There's not a lot to put tariffs on because we have.
- 24:26Speaker 2: So many sanctions right now on Russia already. So it's
- 24:31Speaker 2: almost like there is in fact they said of tariffs,
- 24:33Speaker 2: there are tariffs of we're not doing anything with you,
- 24:37Speaker 2: And yet the media is trying to act like there's
- 24:39Speaker 2: some sort of Russia collusion three point zero or four
- 24:43Speaker 2: point zero or five point zero when it comes to Russia.
- 24:47Speaker 2: This is how they're going to continue to attack Donald Trump.
- 24:51Speaker 2: At the end of the day, this is a plan
- 24:54Speaker 2: that Donald Trump made clear back in nineteen eighty eight.
- 24:57Speaker 1: Is something he believed in.
- 24:59Speaker 2: He understands leverage, and that's why there's fifty plus countries
- 25:04Speaker 2: waiting in line to work a deal with Donald J. Trump,
- 25:08Speaker 2: the President of the United States of America. I also
- 25:11Speaker 2: want to go back to something else that I mentioned earlier,
- 25:17Speaker 2: and that is when Donald Trump was talking about tariffs,
- 25:21Speaker 2: he also said this is a way for America to
- 25:24Speaker 2: get out of debt. Donald Trump on Air Force one
- 25:27Speaker 2: saying this about tariffs and how much money the US
- 25:30Speaker 2: will make off of these tariffs.
- 25:32Speaker 1: Listen, I've improven of this.
- 25:35Speaker 5: You talk to a lot of leaders this weekend. Can
- 25:37Speaker 5: you tell us her were there any deals made.
- 25:40Speaker 4: I spoke to a lot of leaders European, Asian from
- 25:44Speaker 4: all over the world and dying to make a deal.
- 25:47Speaker 4: But I said, We're not gonna have deficits with your country.
- 25:51Speaker 4: We're not gonna do that because to me, a deficit
- 25:54Speaker 4: is a loss. We're gonna have surpluses or were at
- 25:57Speaker 4: worst gonna be breaking even. But China would be the
- 26:01Speaker 4: worst in the group because the deficit is so big
- 26:06Speaker 4: and it's not sustainable.
- 26:08Speaker 5: And you know, I was elected on this.
- 26:11Speaker 4: This was one of the biggest reasons I got elected
- 26:14Speaker 4: was exactly because of this. And we're gonna put tariffs,
- 26:17Speaker 4: and we've already put them on. It's not a question
- 26:19Speaker 4: that we will. We're gonna put them on. And those
- 26:22Speaker 4: tariffs next year will make US one trillion dollars. In
- 26:27Speaker 4: addition to the one trillion dollars, thousands of companies are
- 26:32Speaker 4: going to relocate back into the United States and North
- 26:35Speaker 4: Carolina already.
- 26:37Speaker 5: Furniture people are starting to move back in.
- 26:40Speaker 4: Detroit and Michigan, which I won because of what I said.
- 26:44Speaker 4: What I'm telling you, car companies are starting to open
- 26:47Speaker 4: up and Indiana a big one is under construction.
- 26:51Speaker 5: As an example, Honda. But they're moving in like nobody
- 26:56Speaker 5: has ever seen this before.
- 26:59Speaker 4: So it's unsustainable for us to allow China to have
- 27:04Speaker 4: surpluses of a trillion dollars if we will be taking
- 27:08Speaker 4: in over at trillion dollars over the next short period
- 27:11Speaker 4: of time.
- 27:12Speaker 5: With the tariffs that I've already instituted, they're already in place.
- 27:17Speaker 4: Now, what's gonna happen with the market, I can't tell you,
- 27:19Speaker 4: but I can tell you how our country has gotten
- 27:21Speaker 4: a lot stronger, and eventually it'll be a country like
- 27:26Speaker 4: no other. It'll be the most dominant country economically in
- 27:30Speaker 4: the world.
- 27:31Speaker 5: Just what it should be. There market here.
- 27:36Speaker 2: You listen to the media and you hear how they're talking,
- 27:40Speaker 2: and you hear the president. He's very calm. He has
- 27:44Speaker 2: a plan. Trump was asked about the tech leaders, for example,
- 27:47Speaker 2: are they freaking out? What do they say to you?
- 27:49Speaker 2: Like they're trying to find some sort of war somewhere.
- 27:53Speaker 2: It's not happening.
- 27:54Speaker 1: There is no war.
- 27:56Speaker 2: Donald Trump's communicating with everybody openly to bend for guson show.
