- 0:00John Chapter 7 After these things Jesus was walking in
- 0:04Galilee, for He was unwilling to walk in Judea, because the Jews
- 0:07were seeking to kill him. Now the feast of the Jews, the
- 0:09feast of Booths was near. Therefore his brother said to
- 0:12him, Leave here and go into Judea, so that your disciples
- 0:16also may see your works, which you are doing.
- 0:18For no one does anything in secret when He himself seeks to
- 0:20be known publicly. If you do these things, show
- 0:23yourself to the world. For not even His brothers were
- 0:26believing in Him. So Jesus said to them, My time
- 0:29is not yet here, but your time is always opportune.
- 0:32The world cannot hate you, but it hates me because I testify of
- 0:35it, that it's deeds are evil. Go up to the feast yourselves.
- 0:39I do not go up to this feast because my time has not yet
- 0:42fully come. Having said these things to
- 0:44them, He stayed in Galilee. But when his brothers had gone
- 0:48up to the feast, then He himself also went up, not publicly, but
- 0:51as if in secret. So the Jews were seeking Him at
- 0:54the feast, and we're saying, Where is He?
- 0:57There was much grumbling among the crowds concerning him.
- 0:59Some were saying he is a good man, others were saying no, On
- 1:03the contrary, He leads the people astray.
- 1:05Yet no one was speaking openly of him for fear of the Jews.
- 1:09But when it was now the midst of the feast, Jesus went up into
- 1:12the temple and began to teach. The Jews then were astonished,
- 1:16saying, How has this man become learned, having never been
- 1:19educated? So Jesus answered them and said,
- 1:21My teaching is not mine, but His who sent me.
- 1:25If anyone is willing to do His will, he will know of the
- 1:27teaching, whether it is of God or whether I speak from myself.
- 1:31He who speaks from Himself seeks His own glory.
- 1:33He who is seeking the glory of the one who sent Him, He is
- 1:36true, and there is no unrighteousness in Him.
- 1:39Did not Moses give you the law? And yet none of you carries out
- 1:42the law. Why do you seek to kill me?
- 1:45The crowd answered, You have a demon who seeks to kill you.
- 1:49Jesus answered them, I did 1 deed, and you all marvel for
- 1:53this reason Moses has given you circumcision, not because it is
- 1:57from Moses, but from the Father's.
- 1:59And on the Sabbath you circumcise a man.
- 2:01If a man receives circumcision on the Sabbath, so that the law
- 2:04of Moses will not be broken, are you angry with me because I made
- 2:08an entire man well on the Sabbath?
- 2:10Do not judge according to appearance, but judge with
- 2:13righteous judgement. So some of the people of
- 2:15Jerusalem were saying, is this not the man whom they are
- 2:18seeking to kill? Look, he's speaking publicly,
- 2:21and they're saying nothing to him.
- 2:23The rulers do not really know that this is the Christ, do
- 2:25they? However, we know where this man
- 2:28is from. But whenever the Christ may
- 2:30come, no one knows where he is from.
- 2:32Then Jesus cried out in the temple, teaching and saying, You
- 2:35both know me and know where I'm from, and I have not come of
- 2:38myself. But he who sent me is true, whom
- 2:41you do not know. I know him because I'm from him,
- 2:44and he sent me. So they were seeking to seize
- 2:46him, and no man laid his hand on him, because his hour had not
- 2:50yet come. But many of the crowd believed
- 2:53in him. And they were saying, When the
- 2:55Christ comes, he will not perform more signs than those
- 2:57which this man has, Will he? The Pharisees heard the crowd
- 3:01muttering these things about him, and the chief priests and
- 3:03the Pharisees sent officers to seize him.
- 3:06Therefore Jesus said, For a little while longer I'm with
- 3:09you. Then I go to him who sent me.
- 3:11You will seek me, and you will not find me, and where I am you
- 3:15cannot come. The Jews then said to one
- 3:17another, Where does this man intend to go that we will not
- 3:20find him? He is not intending to go to the
- 3:22dispersion among the Greeks and teach the Greeks, is he?
- 3:25What is this statement that He said, You will seek me, and you
- 3:28will not find me, and where I am you cannot come.
- 3:31Now on the last day, the great day of the feast, Jesus stood
- 3:34and cried out, saying, If anyone is thirsty, let him come to me
- 3:38and drink. He who believes in me, as the
- 3:40Scripture said, from His innermost being will flow rivers
- 3:43of living water. But this He spoke of the Spirit
- 3:47whom those who believed in Him were to receive.
- 3:49For the Spirit was not yet given, because Jesus was not yet
- 3:52glorified. Some of the people, therefore,
- 3:55when they heard these words, were saying, this certainly is
- 3:58the prophet. Others were saying, this is the
- 4:01Christ. Still others were saying, surely
- 4:04the Christ is not going to come from Galilee.
- 4:06Is He? Has not the Scripture said that
- 4:09the Christ comes from the descendants of David and from
- 4:11Bethlehem, the village where David was.
- 4:14So a division occurred in the crowd because of Him.
- 4:17Some of them wanted to seize him, but no one laid hands on
- 4:20him. The officers then came to the
- 4:22chief priests and Pharisees and said to them, Why did you not
- 4:26bring him? The officers answered, Never has
- 4:29a man spoken the way this man speaks.
- 4:32The Pharisees then answered them, You have not also been LED
- 4:35astray, have you? No one of the rulers or
- 4:37Pharisees has believed in him, has he?
- 4:40But this crowd, which does not know the Law, is accursed.
- 4:43Nicodemus, He who came to Him before being one of them, said
- 4:47to them, Our Law does not judge a man unless it first hears from
- 4:50him and knows what He is doing, Does it?
- 4:54They answered him, You are not also from Galilee, are you?
- 4:57Search and see that no prophet arises out of Galilee.
- 5:01Everyone went to his home.
