  Acts chapter 6. Now at this time, while the

  disciples were increasing in number, a complaint arose on the

  part of the Hellenistic Jews against the native Hebrews,

  because their widows were being overlooked in the daily serving

  of food. So the 12 summoned the

  congregation of the disciples, and said, It is not desirable
• 0:17
  for us to neglect the word of God in order to serve tables.

  Therefore, brethren, select from among you 7 men of good
• 0:24
  reputation, full of the Spirit and of wisdom, whom we may put
• 0:27
  in charge of this task, but we will devote ourselves to prayer
• 0:31
  and to the ministry of the Word. The statement found approval
• 0:34
  with the whole congregation, and they chose Stephen, a man full
• 0:37
  of faith and of the Holy Spirit, and Philip, Procurus, Nicanor,
• 0:42
  Timon, Parmanus, and Nicholas, a proselyte from Antioch.

  And these they brought before the apostles, and after praying
• 0:49
  they laid their hands on them. The word of God kept on
• 0:52
  spreading, and the number of the disciples continued to increase
• 0:55
  greatly in Jerusalem, and a great many of the priests were
• 0:58
  becoming obedient to the faith, and Stephen, full of grace and
• 1:01
  power, was performing great wonders and signs among the
• 1:04
  people. But some men from what was
• 1:06
  called the synagogue of the freedmen, including both
• 1:09
  Cyrenians and Alexandrians, and some from Silesia and Asia, rose
• 1:14
  up and argued with Stephen, but they were unable to cope with
• 1:17
  the wisdom and the spirit with which he was speaking.

  Then they secretly induced men to say, We have heard him speak
• 1:23
  blasphemous words against Moses and against God, and they
• 1:26
  stirred up the people, the elders and the scribes, and they
• 1:29
  came up to him and dragged him away and brought him before the
• 1:32
  council. They put forward false witnesses
• 1:34
  who said, This man incessantly speaks against this holy place
• 1:38
  and the law. But we have heard him say that
• 1:40
  this Nazarene, Jesus, will destroy this place and alter the
• 1:43
  customs which Moses handed down to us.
• 1:45
  And fixing their gaze on him, all who were sitting in the
• 1:47
  council saw his face like the face of an Angel.
