Transcript
- 0:00Speaker 1: Welcome to Verdick with Ted Cruz, Ben Ferguson with you, Senator.
- 0:04Speaker 1: This is our last show before the American people go
- 0:08Speaker 1: to the polls on Tuesday. It is very clear that
- 0:13Speaker 1: the red wave, I think could be big, it could
- 0:15Speaker 1: be strong. And we just came back from the final
- 0:18Speaker 1: bus tour stop that was truly incredible. Well, you started
- 0:22Speaker 1: in Texas, we ended in Texas to a very very
- 0:25Speaker 1: big crowd there and over and over again when you
- 0:28Speaker 1: talked about the economy, the American people are responding to
- 0:32Speaker 1: that issue, and yet Democrats still seem to have not
- 0:35Speaker 1: figured out it's the economy, stupid. Well, look, I think
- 0:39Speaker 1: that's right. We're a day away from election day. Election
- 0:42Speaker 1: day is tomorrow. I think you and I both believe
- 0:45Speaker 1: that we're going to have a really good election. But
- 0:49Speaker 1: believing it doesn't make it happen. It takes action. And
- 0:51Speaker 1: at this point, one hundred percent of the election is turnout.
- 0:55Speaker 1: There's nothing else. So my message to everyone listening to
- 0:59Speaker 1: this is vote, vote, vote, but don't just vote. Get
- 1:04Speaker 1: your friends to vote, get your family vote, get your
- 1:06Speaker 1: neighbors to vote. Literally, sit there Monday Tuesday, sit there
- 1:12Speaker 1: on your phone and send texts to five people, to
- 1:15Speaker 1: tend people, to twenty people, to thirty people. The way
- 1:19Speaker 1: this election will be one or lost is who physically
- 1:22Speaker 1: shows up to vote. And I think it's going to
- 1:26Speaker 1: be a great election because I think the percentage of
- 1:29Speaker 1: people who are pissed off about the past the country
- 1:32Speaker 1: is on as much greater than the percentage of people
- 1:34Speaker 1: who are thrilled with what's happening in Washington. But everyone
- 1:39Speaker 1: needs to remember that doesn't happen automatically on its own.
- 1:43Speaker 1: It only happens if we physically show up and vote.
- 1:47Speaker 1: You know. I talked to guy last night. We had
- 1:50Speaker 1: the last event of the seventeen state bus tour. Talk
- 1:54Speaker 1: to a guy at the bar afterwards. One woman said, oh,
- 1:58Speaker 1: I just voted today, last day of early voting. And
- 2:01Speaker 1: another woman or another man rather said, well, I went
- 2:04Speaker 1: to vote today, but the line was too long, so
- 2:06Speaker 1: I left. So I guess I've got to go on
- 2:08Speaker 1: election day. And I looked at him. I said, please
- 2:11Speaker 1: go on election day. There may be a long line,
- 2:14Speaker 1: you know, Go and bring a book, bring your phone,
- 2:17Speaker 1: be prepared to wait in the long line, show up
- 2:19Speaker 1: and vote. I think if we have turnout, we will
- 2:23Speaker 1: see a phenomenal election. Senator, I want to get into
- 2:26Speaker 1: some predictions in just a moment, but first I want

- 4:12Speaker 1: slash verdict or nine seven to Patriot. You know, some
- 4:15Speaker 1: of the predictions that are coming Cenator are ones that
- 4:18Speaker 1: I think are genuinely shocking. The House Republican Conference chair
- 4:23Speaker 1: Stephani said that he is predicting the coming red wave
- 4:26Speaker 1: will also hit New York State. That is something three,
- 4:29Speaker 1: four or five months ago seemed unimaginable, saying this is
- 4:34Speaker 1: a once in a generation opportunity to win back the
- 4:36Speaker 1: state of New York and really save our state. There
- 4:40Speaker 1: you look at this saying that Leezeldon has a very
- 4:42Speaker 1: good chance of winning the governor's race. There, I think
- 4:45Speaker 1: that tells you about the mentality of the American people
- 4:48Speaker 1: and also how much the American people are hurting. Yeah. Look,
- 4:51Speaker 1: I think Leezeldon has a real shot at winning governor
- 4:55Speaker 1: in New York. I think we have a good shot
- 4:57Speaker 1: at winning governor in Oregon of all places, and people
- 5:00Speaker 1: are fed up. We've got some governors races where we
- 5:03Speaker 1: could have some important wins, and in terms of the
- 5:09Speaker 1: House and Senate races, the battle isn't entirely turn out.
- 5:13Speaker 1: And part of why I think we're in such a
- 5:16Speaker 1: strong position is the top three issues in the country
- 5:20Speaker 1: according to the polling, have been the same now for
- 5:23Speaker 1: several months. Number one issue in the country hands down
- 5:27Speaker 1: as inflation and especially gas prices. People are pissed at
- 5:32Speaker 1: the price they're paying at the pump, at the price
- 5:33Speaker 1: they're paying in the book grocery store, at the price
- 5:35Speaker 1: they're paying for everything. The number two issue in the
- 5:39Speaker 1: country is crime. Crime has gotten horrific under really misguided
- 5:45Speaker 1: Democrat policies. If Leezelden gets elected governor of New York,
- 5:50Speaker 1: crime will be the dominant issue that elects him. And
- 5:54Speaker 1: it's played out. I mean literally. The candidate was violently
- 5:57Speaker 1: assaulted while on the campaign trail, and the guy that
- 6:00Speaker 1: tried to kill him was released from jail that same
- 6:04Speaker 1: day under cash less bail. I mean it, if the
- 6:08Speaker 1: sitting Democrat governor wanted to make a campaign ad for
- 6:12Speaker 1: Leez Eldon, I'm not sure she could have done any
- 6:14Speaker 1: better than that. Pennsylvania. If doctor Oz wins in Pennsylvania,
- 6:19Speaker 1: crime will be the dominant reason, and Fetterman's record on
- 6:22Speaker 1: crime as abysmal. So that is a big issue that
- 6:26Speaker 1: is moving a lot of votes. And then number three
- 6:28Speaker 1: is illegal immigration. We have now over four point seven
- 6:32Speaker 1: million people who've crossed illegally, the worst illegal immigration in
- 6:36Speaker 1: the history of our country. That was a deliberate political decision.
- 6:40Speaker 1: That is an issue in the polls, especially in South Texas.
- 6:44Speaker 1: And so that combination all three of those issues, Republicans
- 6:48Speaker 1: have a double digit lead because the Democrats created those problems.
- 6:53Speaker 1: They are they are the creation of the Democrats. Now, ironically,
- 7:00Speaker 1: the media and the White House are trying to convince
- 7:02Speaker 1: the American people the problems don't exist. And so you know,
- 7:05Speaker 1: you had Joy read on MSNBC saying, oh, inflation. Nobody
- 7:10Speaker 1: talks about inflation. This is a made up thing that
- 7:13Speaker 1: Republicans have just convinced people is a problem, which I
- 7:16Speaker 1: gotta say is one of the stupidest arguments I've ever
- 7:19Speaker 1: heard that, Oh really, you know, you don't notice when
- 7:21Speaker 1: you go fill up your car truck at it's one
- 7:23Speaker 1: hundred bucks one hundred and fifty bucks. That just never
- 7:25Speaker 1: would occur to you except some big, mean, nasty Republican
- 7:30Speaker 1: told you about it. Listen, Inflation is one of those
- 7:33Speaker 1: issues that everyone sees every day and it impacts everyone.
- 7:40Speaker 1: That's part of what makes it so potent. You know,
- 7:44Speaker 1: even Democrats are understanding. I think just how bad this is.
- 7:48Speaker 1: Bill maher On a real time started his show off
- 7:52Speaker 1: last night, and it was almost like he had no
- 7:55Speaker 1: energy because he sees the red wig that's coming, and
- 7:58Speaker 1: he put it this way about the economy and how
- 8:01Speaker 1: did Democrats get this thing so wrong? A few days
- 8:05Speaker 1: before the election? I see the big story demographically is
- 8:08Speaker 1: somehow the Democrats lost white women. It's funny, it looked
- 8:12Speaker 1: so good for the Democrats, like after the Row versus
- 8:16Speaker 1: Wade ruling, it looked like abortion was going to be
- 8:18Speaker 1: the big issue, but that seems to have fizzled. They
- 8:20Speaker 1: lost twenty seven points, a swing of twenty that's unheartive,
- 8:24Speaker 1: like they were gonna the Democrats are gonna win by
- 8:27Speaker 1: twelve and other Republicans are going to win by fifteen
- 8:30Speaker 1: or something. Why how they lose that demographic? I think
- 8:34Speaker 1: the biggest issue is the economy and inflation. So if
- 8:38Speaker 1: you look at if you ask people what they think
- 8:41Speaker 1: of the economy right now, the pessimism is about as
- 8:44Speaker 1: strong as it was in the depths of the O
- 8:47Speaker 1: eight financial crisis. And inflation is particularly We've lived for
- 8:51Speaker 1: so long in a period of low inflation, we don't
- 8:54Speaker 1: realize how spooky inflation is to most people. Unemployment effects
- 8:59Speaker 1: the people who are employee and their families ten fifteen percent.
- 9:03Speaker 1: Inflation affects everyone, and it robs middle class people of
- 9:06Speaker 1: their savings. That makes people every time they go to
- 9:08Speaker 1: the gas station, every time you go to the grocery store,
- 9:11Speaker 1: you're reminded of it. And there's a reason why. Inflation
- 9:14Speaker 1: is what causes political revolutions. If you think about the
- 9:17Speaker 1: inflation of the seventies, this is what ushers in Reaganism.
- 9:21Speaker 1: It breaks the back of the New Deal. Basically, it
- 9:23Speaker 1: brings in Tachism. It just you know, Iran had very
- 9:27Speaker 1: high inflation right before the Iranian Revolution, and of course
- 9:30Speaker 1: the iconic example as Weimar and the twenties hyperinflation in
- 9:35Speaker 1: German Venezuela exactly. So, I mean inflation is much more
- 9:38Speaker 1: corrosive than I think people realize. You know, it is
- 9:43Speaker 1: so corrosive, and I do think people realize it. And
- 9:46Speaker 1: in the way that he put it center, this is
- 9:48Speaker 1: just shocking that the Democrats screwed it up this big
- 9:51Speaker 1: and refused to admit there's a major financial issue in
- 9:54Speaker 1: this country. Well, I think that's right, and I think
- 9:58Speaker 1: the commentary there that is really powerful is that inflation
- 10:02Speaker 1: is universal when it comes to unemployment. If you happen
- 10:06Speaker 1: to have lost your job, you're pissed off about it.
- 10:09Speaker 1: But if somebody else has their job, they're not necessarily
- 10:12Speaker 1: as concerned about unemployment, Whereas inflation, absolutely everybody is impacting it,
- 10:19Speaker 1: and it's a double whammy. Not only are the costs
- 10:23Speaker 1: of everything you're trying to do in life going up,
- 10:27Speaker 1: but the value of all your savings are plummeted as
- 10:31Speaker 1: the stock markets have been decimated. Where you have senior
- 10:36Speaker 1: citizens who, by the way, senior citizens generally are not
- 10:39Speaker 1: reflected in unemployment numbers because most seniors are retired. But
- 10:43Speaker 1: if you have a senior who's worked thirty forty years,
- 10:46Speaker 1: has saved responsibly, has a four oh one K. Where
- 10:50Speaker 1: that senior is right now, the value of their four
- 10:53Speaker 1: oh one k, the value their retirement has dropped twenty percent,
- 10:56Speaker 1: maybe twenty five, maybe thirty the National Bridge just thirty
- 11:00Speaker 1: four thousand dollars is what people have lost on average
- 11:03Speaker 1: in their four oh one K. Those seniors are freaked out,
- 11:08Speaker 1: and understandably, Suddenly their nest egg is significantly smaller and
- 11:13Speaker 1: their monthly outflow is significantly bigger. That's a really bad combination.
- 11:19Speaker 1: But it doesn't just impact people on the older edges
- 11:24Speaker 1: of life. If you're a young person, you're just say,
- 11:28Speaker 1: coming out of school, getting a job. Suddenly, rents are
- 11:32Speaker 1: much less affordable Suddenly. If you're a young family, let's
- 11:35Speaker 1: say you've got little kids, you're getting started. You and
- 11:37Speaker 1: I are both both dads with young kids. You know,
- 11:42Speaker 1: that's a stage when people start saving, some start trying
- 11:45Speaker 1: to provide for their needs, trying to start saving for college.
- 11:50Speaker 1: The impact of inflation. If you had a thousand dollars
- 11:54Speaker 1: when Joe Biden became president, if you had a thousand
- 11:57Speaker 1: dollars in the bank right now, that thousand dollars is
- 12:00Speaker 1: worth about eight hundred dollars that sort of back of
- 12:04Speaker 1: the envelope math, but that's pretty close. That means it
- 12:08Speaker 1: is as if someone came and stole two hundred dollars
- 12:11Speaker 1: from you, because the money that you had responsibly saved
- 12:15Speaker 1: that you didn't use for something else due to no
- 12:17Speaker 1: fault of your own, is worth substantially less that combination.
- 12:24Speaker 1: You don't need an economist to explain it to you.
- 12:27Speaker 1: You don't need a politician to explain it to you.
- 12:32Speaker 1: When you start discovering that the amount you spend just
- 12:36Speaker 1: to fill your car with gas every week has doubled
- 12:40Speaker 1: or more, that explains itself to people in technicolor. You know,
- 12:47Speaker 1: it's one of those basic questions that we've heard so
- 12:49Speaker 1: many times from politicians, but this year I think it's
- 12:52Speaker 1: one of the most important question. It's is your life
- 12:54Speaker 1: better off now or was it better off two years
- 12:57Speaker 1: ago before the Democrats put in all these socialist agenda items,
- 13:02Speaker 1: and now look at where we are. We look at
- 13:04Speaker 1: the price of gas. I'm very concerned about the price
- 13:07Speaker 1: of gas because, as you've mentioned before on this show,
- 13:10Speaker 1: the strategical reserves, the two you know, million barrels that
- 13:14Speaker 1: we're releasing day after day after day. That's gonna end,
- 13:17Speaker 1: guess what, right at the election day, and then we're
- 13:20Speaker 1: gonna see much higher gas prices. Triple A has already
- 13:22Speaker 1: come out and said they believe we should be back
- 13:24Speaker 1: up in the five dollar range after the election, maybe
- 13:27Speaker 1: even by Christmas. And that's part of I think the
- 13:30Speaker 1: big lie from the Democrats, especially on the House side,
- 13:34Speaker 1: where they say, oh, we're gonna get things under control,
- 13:36Speaker 1: and they know that this massive price increase is about
- 13:39Speaker 1: to happen on top of the issue that we have
- 13:43Speaker 1: right now with diesel shortage in this country, which the
- 13:45Speaker 1: truckers are talking about those putting diesel gas already over
- 13:49Speaker 1: five hours a gallon, and we and we have a
- 13:51Speaker 1: real supply chain issue. Well, look, that's exactly right. And
- 13:55Speaker 1: when it comes to energy, the Democrats are wildly realistic.
- 14:00Speaker 1: They're out of touch with working men and women, and
- 14:02Speaker 1: they frankly don't care about working men and women. Their
- 14:05Speaker 1: policies are being set by a bunch of hipsters sipping
- 14:09Speaker 1: lattes who are essentially saying, let them eat cake, let
- 14:13Speaker 1: them drive electric cars, and the reality of life doesn't
- 14:16Speaker 1: concern them. You know, just today in the news, Joe
- 14:20Speaker 1: Biden just gave a speech in California where he said,
- 14:23Speaker 1: we're gonna put all the coal plants in America out
- 14:26Speaker 1: of business. We're gonna have everyone driving electric and there'll
- 14:28Speaker 1: be no more coal. And it's kind of funny. Joe
- 14:32Speaker 1: Mansion from West Virginia is suddenly pretending like he's angry
- 14:36Speaker 1: about this, and he's saying that's offensive, that's ridiculous. He's
- 14:39Speaker 1: never said that to me. Well, Joe, I'm sorry if
- 14:42Speaker 1: he's never said that to you. He said that to
- 14:44Speaker 1: the rest of the world repeatedly, and if you haven't
- 14:46Speaker 1: heard it, it's because you've had your head in the sand.
- 14:50Speaker 1: Because that is his agenda. All of the coal miners
- 14:53Speaker 1: in West Virginia he wants to bankrupt. And I'll tell you,
- 14:56Speaker 1: by the way, when they passed there, or Wellian named
- 15:01Speaker 1: Inflation Reduction Act. And I say or Wellian because the
- 15:03Speaker 1: Inflation Reduction Act, the only impact of it will be
- 15:06Speaker 1: to increase inflation. It was hundreds of billions of dollars
- 15:10Speaker 1: of new spending, and it was billions of dollars of
- 15:12Speaker 1: new taxes on energy. It was literally okay, energy prices
- 15:16Speaker 1: are too high. What should we do. Let's put new
- 15:18Speaker 1: taxes on it. The only outcome of that is to
- 15:21Speaker 1: drive energy prices higher. And I made that point to
- 15:24Speaker 1: mention on the Senate floor as they were voting. I said,
- 15:28Speaker 1: this bill is screwing energy producers in the United States,
- 15:33Speaker 1: and Joe insisted that wasn't the case. Well, he's suddenly
- 15:37Speaker 1: discovering what his party is trying to do, which is
- 15:39Speaker 1: to take every coal miner in West Virginia and in
- 15:43Speaker 1: Ohio and in Kentucky and in Pennsylvania and put them
- 15:46Speaker 1: all out of a job. And you know, as John
- 15:49Speaker 1: Kerry derisively said, learn to code. That's the Democrats response
- 15:54Speaker 1: to blue collar America is we don't like your jobs
- 15:58Speaker 1: and we are happy to destroy them with no idea
- 16:02Speaker 1: what you can do next. I want to remind everybody
- 16:05Speaker 1: that's listening right now make sure that you join us
- 16:08Speaker 1: on election night because we're going to be doing a
- 16:09Speaker 1: live at Verdict that we'll be able to put that
- 16:12Speaker 1: video out live on YouTube also I think on Twitter
- 16:16Speaker 1: and Facebook simultaneously, and so make sure you join us
- 16:20Speaker 1: on election night. But let's look at the election how
- 16:23Speaker 1: and give an overview. First, Senator and then we'll move
- 16:26Speaker 1: into some of the House races and some of the
- 16:28Speaker 1: important races that you've been supporting candidates. But how should
- 16:31Speaker 1: people look at election night and where should they be
- 16:35Speaker 1: looking for key indicators of what races could really kind
- 16:39Speaker 1: of tell you early on on the East Coast, what
- 16:41Speaker 1: could be happening in Middle America as we head out west. Well,
- 16:45Speaker 1: on the East Coast, they're going to be a number
- 16:47Speaker 1: of fairly early results. You're going to get early results
- 16:51Speaker 1: in New York and the gubernatorial race, you'll get early results.
- 16:55Speaker 1: In the Senate race. In New Hampshire you'll get early results.
- 16:59Speaker 1: And pen Sylvania you'll get early results. In North Carolina,
- 17:03Speaker 1: you'll get early results. In Georgia, you'll get early results.
- 17:07Speaker 1: In Florida. You'll get early results. In Ohio that'll be
- 17:11Speaker 1: the first wave. Wisconsin will be not long thereafter. Many
- 17:15Speaker 1: of those are hotly, hotly contested races. There are also
- 17:20Speaker 1: states like Virginia where there are several highly contested congressional races,
- 17:25Speaker 1: and so we'll get early results from those as well.
- 17:28Speaker 1: Now it may be that Pennsylvania the results are delayed
- 17:32Speaker 1: for multiple days. They're the way they do elections in
- 17:35Speaker 1: Pennsylvania unfortunately is deeply messed up. They have many, many
- 17:39Speaker 1: mail in ballots, and the Pennsylvania Secretary of State has
- 17:43Speaker 1: already made clear they have no intention of counting all
- 17:45Speaker 1: the ballots by the end of election night. I find
- 17:48Speaker 1: it utterly bizarre. Most places in the world, certainly most
- 17:51Speaker 1: places of the United States, can count the damn votes
- 17:54Speaker 1: on election day, and yet these these bright blue Democrats strongholds,
- 18:00Speaker 1: seemed to plan on, well, we're going to count for
- 18:02Speaker 1: three four days, maybe a week. It's not complicated that
- 18:07Speaker 1: if you're counting three four days after the election and
- 18:09Speaker 1: you know the outcomes everywhere else, and you know how
- 18:11Speaker 1: many votes you need, it is an invitation to cheating,
- 18:16Speaker 1: an invitation to misconduct. But that's what Democrats do. We
- 18:22Speaker 1: will get those early results, will come in as the
- 18:26Speaker 1: night gets going, and so you and I are going
- 18:28Speaker 1: to be doing a live verdict that night, and as
- 18:31Speaker 1: those results come in, we're going to be analyzing them
- 18:33Speaker 1: as they come in. And then we'll move further west.
- 18:38Speaker 1: We'll be moving to states like Arizona, states like Nevada,
- 18:42Speaker 1: states like Washington State, all of which have hotly contested
- 18:47Speaker 1: Senate races. States like Oregon and the gubernatorial race. So
- 18:52Speaker 1: we'll see that play out as it moves west, but
- 18:55Speaker 1: there will be an early bevy of decisions that come
- 18:59Speaker 1: in relatively early in the night from the East coast
- 19:03Speaker 1: that will give us a strong indication of what's likely
- 19:05Speaker 1: to happen. You know, you look at what this red wave,
- 19:09Speaker 1: and I do believe it's going to be a red wave.
- 19:11Speaker 1: We've talked about the Senate. You've said on this show
- 19:14Speaker 1: early on that you thought it could be fifty two
- 19:16Speaker 1: fifty three. Then that change from fifty two of solid
- 19:19Speaker 1: fifty three, and now where do you feel like we
- 19:23Speaker 1: might be on election night on the Senate side before
- 19:25Speaker 1: we move to the House. You know, I'm at fifty
- 19:28Speaker 1: three or fifty four, and if you pressed me, I'd
- 19:30Speaker 1: probably say fifty four. Now. I keep getting more optimistic
- 19:33Speaker 1: as the days move forward. I think the momentum is
- 19:36Speaker 1: steadily on our side. I think the Democrats keep screwing
- 19:39Speaker 1: things things up. When Biden's final election pitch is vote
- 19:46Speaker 1: for me, you damn fascist terrorists, or else the universe
- 19:50Speaker 1: will end. I think that seems like an angry, out
- 19:54Speaker 1: of touch person that has no idea about the policy
- 19:57Speaker 1: failures that the American people are suffering through and so
- 20:01Speaker 1: I think the momentum is in our way. I also
- 20:04Speaker 1: think it's striking that you look at where Joe Biden
- 20:06Speaker 1: is going to campaign. He's going to campaign in California
- 20:11Speaker 1: and Chicago, and then also, interestingly, the only battleground place
- 20:15Speaker 1: they're taking Joe Biden is Pennsylvania. And you've got Joe
- 20:20Speaker 1: Biden there, You've got Barack Obama there, You've got Donald
- 20:23Speaker 1: Trump there. So the people of Pennsylvania are getting it
- 20:25Speaker 1: from all sides. I hope they just focus on how
- 20:29Speaker 1: radical John Fetterman is and realize we want to change
- 20:32Speaker 1: a path. But Biden there will infuriate people on the right,
- 20:36Speaker 1: Trump there will infuriate people on the left, and who
- 20:40Speaker 1: the heck knows what happens in that blender that that results.
- 20:46Speaker 1: But in virtually every other contested Senate race, Biden and
- 20:51Speaker 1: Kamala Harris are nowhere to be found. So so Biden
- 20:54Speaker 1: is not going to Ohio or New Hampshire or Arizona
- 21:00Speaker 1: or Georgia or Wisconsin or Nevada, all of the close
- 21:05Speaker 1: contested Senate races, Biden is nowhere to be found. And
- 21:10Speaker 1: that ain't accidental. It's the simple reality that no Democrat
- 21:15Speaker 1: on the ballot in anything resembling a radar purple state
- 21:19Speaker 1: wants to be seen within a thousand miles of Joe Biden.
- 21:23Speaker 1: That's that's a problem for those candidates. And I thought
- 21:26Speaker 1: it was one of the one of the biggest blunders
- 21:28Speaker 1: political mistakes I've seen the President coming out with what
- 21:31Speaker 1: the Chief of Staff described from the White House the
- 21:34Speaker 1: other day is his final warning. When he had this,
- 21:38Speaker 1: you know, six days before the election, is prime time speech.
- 21:41Speaker 1: He mentioned the issue of border security zero times, crime,
- 21:45Speaker 1: zero times, inflation zero time, gas prices zero times, education
- 21:51Speaker 1: zero times, police zero times, fetnal zero times. It was
- 21:54Speaker 1: basically a fear mongering speech that with none of those issues.
- 21:59Speaker 1: I think that actually hurt the Democrats him coming out
- 22:02Speaker 1: with that speech, and I think it took away. I
- 22:05Speaker 1: think it actually gave momentum to the Republicans. So so
- 22:08Speaker 1: you're saying, when the top of your tickets, h doesn't
- 22:12Speaker 1: talk about any issue any actual voters care about. That
- 22:15Speaker 1: that's a problem. Yeah, It's call me crazy, right, It's
- 22:19Speaker 1: the most bizarre thing. You know, when you're in the
- 22:22Speaker 1: DC Beltway, the reporters and the Democrats are all obsessed
- 22:26Speaker 1: with a set of issues that literally, I mean, I've
- 22:29Speaker 1: traveled the entire country in the last month. I've been
- 22:32Speaker 1: to seventeen states. Nobody in those states cares about the
- 22:35Speaker 1: issues that are animating MSNBC and the Biden White House,
- 22:41Speaker 1: and that disconnect is really dangerous for election Day. Two
- 22:47Speaker 1: more things I want to get to before election Day,
- 22:50Speaker 1: and that's number one. Let's talk about this twenty five
- 22:53Speaker 1: for twenty you busted your tail traveling around the country.
- 22:58Speaker 1: You're not on the ballot, it's time, and you made
- 23:01Speaker 1: sure that you got out there and worked for hardcore
- 23:03Speaker 1: constitutional conservatives. You even helped find candidates, one of those
- 23:08Speaker 1: we were with last night, who I believe is a
- 23:10Speaker 1: rock star in a very tough race where she and
- 23:14Speaker 1: based on history, she has no business winning her race.
- 23:18Speaker 1: It's a Democrat district, yet sure enough it's extremely tight race.
- 23:23Speaker 1: You found these incredible conservatives to back and support, and
- 23:29Speaker 1: I think there's a lot of people hoping that those
- 23:31Speaker 1: are the types of candidates that actually went on Tuesday. Well,
- 23:35Speaker 1: I agree. This is something that I started doing two
- 23:37Speaker 1: years ago. So two years ago, in the twenty twenty cycle,
- 23:41Speaker 1: I decided to get very, very engaged in house races,
- 23:44Speaker 1: and we launched an initiative that we called twenty five
- 23:48Speaker 1: for twenty where I looked across the country and I
- 23:51Speaker 1: tried to identify twenty five candidates who are running for
- 23:54Speaker 1: the House of Representatives, and those twenty five candidates I endorsed,
- 23:58Speaker 1: I campaigned for, I got behind of them. Twenty three
- 24:03Speaker 1: of them were challengers, so only two were incumbents. The
- 24:08Speaker 1: other twenty three were either running for open seats or
- 24:11Speaker 1: running against Democrat incumbents. And I brought all those candidates
- 24:15Speaker 1: together raised about three and a half million dollars for
- 24:19Speaker 1: those twenty five candidates. Now, all of the money that
- 24:21Speaker 1: I was raising was hard money. In other words, I
- 24:23Speaker 1: raised the money and transferred it directly to them. They
- 24:27Speaker 1: got it directly, so it wasn't me controlling the money
- 24:29Speaker 1: and me spending it. I was operating under the assumption
- 24:33Speaker 1: they know how to run their campaign better than I do,
- 24:35Speaker 1: and I don't need to micromanage their campaign. But we
- 24:38Speaker 1: ended up being for most of those candidates. We were
- 24:41Speaker 1: the single largest fundraiser for those candidates, and of the
- 24:44Speaker 1: twenty five, fourteen of them one. It was a remarkable result,
- 24:50Speaker 1: and really what we're trying to do as a couple
- 24:52Speaker 1: of things. Number One, with this initiative, we're looking for
- 24:56Speaker 1: the strongest conservatives who can win, and both of those
- 25:01Speaker 1: are needed. Who can win matters if you're the best
- 25:04Speaker 1: candidate ever, but you're running in a D plus twenty
- 25:08Speaker 1: district and it's just hopeless. I'm not going to ask
- 25:11Speaker 1: investors to invest their resources in tilting at windmills. The
- 25:14Speaker 1: stakes are too high. We got a country to say.
- 25:18Speaker 1: But what I'm looking for is people who a have
- 25:20Speaker 1: a real shot at winning, but be whin they win,
- 25:24Speaker 1: will be principled fighters, will stand and fight and make
- 25:28Speaker 1: a difference. And of the twenty five, we had people
- 25:31Speaker 1: like Burgess Owens, we had people like Yvette Harrow. We
- 25:34Speaker 1: had people like Lauren Bobert, people who came in as
- 25:37Speaker 1: among the strongest conservative leaders that came in in the
- 25:42Speaker 1: newly elected class. Well, Ben, this time we're doing the
- 25:46Speaker 1: same thing. This time we called it twenty five for
- 25:49Speaker 1: twenty two, I guess because I'm really bad at naming things.
- 25:54Speaker 1: And we've got twenty five candidates who, if anything, are
- 25:58Speaker 1: more impressive the first wave we had. We've got candidates
- 26:04Speaker 1: like a candidate I was with just a couple of
- 26:07Speaker 1: days ago up in Michigan. John Gibbs. John Gibbs is
- 26:11Speaker 1: running in Michigan three. He is an African American man.
- 26:15Speaker 1: He was graduated from Stanford. He has a master's degree
- 26:19Speaker 1: from Harvard. He was a Christian missionary in Japan for
- 26:23Speaker 1: a number of years, fluent in Japanese. He was a
- 26:28Speaker 1: senior appointee in the Trump administration. He's smart, he's principled,
- 26:33Speaker 1: he's conservative, and he's running in a district. I think
- 26:35Speaker 1: he's gonna win, and when he wins, he's going to
- 26:38Speaker 1: be a rock star. Someone else who's in this group
- 26:41Speaker 1: group Jennifer Ruth Green. Jennifer Ruth Green is running in
- 26:45Speaker 1: Indiana one. Indiana one is a toss up race. Jennifer
- 26:50Speaker 1: Ruth went to the Air Force Academy. She served a
- 26:53Speaker 1: couple of decades in the Air Force. She has a
- 26:57Speaker 1: master's from Liberty University. She's an African American woman, a conservative,
- 27:02Speaker 1: strong passionate. She's got a good shot on winning and
- 27:09Speaker 1: if and when she wins, she's going to be a
- 27:11Speaker 1: real leader. Someone else in the group, Harriet Hageman. Harriet
- 27:15Speaker 1: is the one who primaried and beat Lynn Chaney Liz
- 27:20Speaker 1: Cheney in Wyoming. Harriet is a constitutional lawyer. She is smart,
- 27:25Speaker 1: she's engaged. She's going to be another rock star in
- 27:28Speaker 1: the freshman class. I'll tell you someone else in the group,
- 27:31Speaker 1: Eli Crane. Eli Crane is running in Arizona. To Eli
- 27:36Speaker 1: Crane is a Navy seal. He spent thirteen years as
- 27:41Speaker 1: a Navy seal with five wartime deployments. He's also he's
- 27:46Speaker 1: a small business owner, and he's smart, he's principled. We
- 27:50Speaker 1: did a big rat rally with Eli in Tucson, and
- 27:53Speaker 1: he's someone else who is going to really shake things
- 27:56Speaker 1: up when he wins. Not only that, there's a whole
- 28:01Speaker 1: group of candidates we included in this and this has
- 28:03Speaker 1: been a major focus of mine for some time, but
- 28:06Speaker 1: particularly this cycle, which is Latina Conservatives, and there are
- 28:12Speaker 1: three in Texas. There is Myra Flores, who ran in
- 28:17Speaker 1: the special election a couple of months ago in the
- 28:20Speaker 1: district in Texas along the Gulf Coast starts just south
- 28:24Speaker 1: of Corpus Christy goes all the way down to Brownsville,
- 28:26Speaker 1: the southern tip of Texas, right on the border of Mexico.
- 28:30Speaker 1: That is a district that had not elected a Republican
- 28:33Speaker 1: since eighteen seventy one special election happens, Myra wins. She
- 28:40Speaker 1: is Republican. She is the first Mexican born woman ever
- 28:46Speaker 1: elected to Congress. She is married to a Border Patrol agent.
- 28:50Speaker 1: She is smart, dynamic. That district is the most Hispanic
- 28:55Speaker 1: district in the country. At a four hundred and thirty
- 28:58Speaker 1: five districts, it's the most Hispanic. It now is represented
- 29:01Speaker 1: by a Republican. In the district next to it, Monica
- 29:05Speaker 1: Dela Cruz is running. Monica's fantastic. She's a small business owner.
- 29:09Speaker 1: She's a single mom. She ran two years ago and
- 29:14Speaker 1: almost one two years ago with almost zero money. She
- 29:17Speaker 1: came within two thousand votes of winning last time, and
- 29:21Speaker 1: the National Party didn't support her at all. It was
- 29:23Speaker 1: a shoe string budget. This time, she's got resources and
- 29:26Speaker 1: I think is very likely to win the district. Next
- 29:29Speaker 1: to her is Cassie Garcia. Cassie, you and I were
- 29:32Speaker 1: just last night at a big rally for Cassie. Cassie
- 29:35Speaker 1: is someone I know very very well. Cassie worked on
- 29:38Speaker 1: my staff for eight years. She was my South Texas director.
- 29:42Speaker 1: She was my deputy state director. Cassie is smart, principled conservative.
- 29:47Speaker 1: She is beloved in the Rio Grand Valley. She too
- 29:51Speaker 1: is married to a border patrol agent. Her husband as
- 29:53Speaker 1: the sector chief in the Del Rio sector, the sector
- 29:56Speaker 1: with the worst illegal immigration right now. He's fighting every
- 30:00Speaker 1: day despite his political superiors effectively tying his hands behind
- 30:04Speaker 1: his backs. I think Cassie's gonna win. I think we're
- 30:07Speaker 1: gonna come out of this race with all of the
- 30:10Speaker 1: Rio Grand Valley represented by Republicans, all three of whom
- 30:16Speaker 1: are Latina, and every one of these districts has been
- 30:21Speaker 1: Democrat for over one hundred years. And let me go
- 30:24Speaker 1: a little broader than that, three other candidates. So I
- 30:28Speaker 1: brought those three candidates to just north of Houston, to
- 30:30Speaker 1: Montgomery County, along with three other candidates. Catalina laff who
- 30:35Speaker 1: is running up in the suburbs of Chicago. Young, Hispanic
- 30:40Speaker 1: served in the Trump administration, Passionate Ana Paulina Luna who's
- 30:45Speaker 1: running in Florida and the Tampa area, same thing, smart, principled, passionate,
- 30:50Speaker 1: very good chance at winning. And then yes Lee Vega
- 30:54Speaker 1: who's running in Virginia. We did an awesome rally with Yesley.
- 30:58Speaker 1: I think Yesley's got a great shot at winning. Let
- 31:00Speaker 1: me tell you Yeslie's story Ben Yesli is the daughter
- 31:04Speaker 1: of immigrants from El Salvador. Yeslie's younger brother was shot
- 31:12Speaker 1: and nearly killed by MS thirteen, So for her illegal immigration,
- 31:19Speaker 1: it is real and it is personal. Yesle is married
- 31:23Speaker 1: to a soldier. They were stationed overseas in Korea for
- 31:26Speaker 1: some time. Yeslei is a mom of two kids, and
- 31:30Speaker 1: she's also a cop. When her younger brother was shot,
- 31:33Speaker 1: she decided to sign up and become a police officer.
- 31:36Speaker 1: She spent over a decade as a police officer. And
- 31:39Speaker 1: Yeslie is a firebrand. You see her on the stump
- 31:44Speaker 1: she is. She is just a firebrand. We had the
- 31:49Speaker 1: six of them been together in Houston. I hosted a
- 31:53Speaker 1: fundraiser for them. Is the easiest fundraiser I've ever held
- 31:56Speaker 1: in my life. I essentially had to get out of
- 31:58Speaker 1: the way, just shut up and at them shine and
- 32:02Speaker 1: they were. Everyone was blown away. We raised over one
- 32:05Speaker 1: million dollars for those six candidates, six Latinas, all six
- 32:10Speaker 1: of whom can win. In November. The group promptly dubbed
- 32:15Speaker 1: themselves the Spicy Tacos, making a playoff. As you know,
- 32:21Speaker 1: Jill Biden offensively referred to Hispanics as unique as breakfast tacos,
- 32:28Speaker 1: and so they're owning it. And I got to say,
- 32:31Speaker 1: if we get to January and we have a new
- 32:34Speaker 1: generation of strong, principled conservative leaders, many of whom are
- 32:39Speaker 1: Latina or African American, and they're young and they're committed,
- 32:44Speaker 1: that's how we don't just change the Republican Party. It's
- 32:47Speaker 1: how we change the country. It is a generational and
- 32:50Speaker 1: paradigm shift. And that's why I'm devoting so much time
- 32:53Speaker 1: and energy to trying to make that happen. You know,
- 32:56Speaker 1: I think car Lake said it great this week. They
- 32:58Speaker 1: were tired of being silent. She's blasting big tech, blasting
- 33:03Speaker 1: the mainstream media, blasting cancel culture. I think there's so
- 33:06Speaker 1: much of that and so many of these candidates where
- 33:09Speaker 1: they're just saying we're tired of being silent, are being
- 33:13Speaker 1: silenced by the left, and we're standing up for what
- 33:16Speaker 1: we believe in. There is one concern, and I've heard
- 33:20Speaker 1: this a lot, Senator, and I want to close with this.
- 33:22Speaker 1: I want to remind everybody listening we will be live
- 33:24Speaker 1: with Verdict Live. You can watch us on YouTube, on Facebook,
- 33:28Speaker 1: Twitter on election night. Make sure you make that part
- 33:31Speaker 1: of your election night watch agenda. Sat. There's always a
- 33:36Speaker 1: worry that when Republicans get an opportunity, we screw it up.
- 33:40Speaker 1: When we get the majority, we screw it up. There
- 33:43Speaker 1: are many that are concerned about the Republican leadership that
- 33:46Speaker 1: they will immediately push these hardcore conservative new people to
- 33:51Speaker 1: the back of the room and say, wait your turn
- 33:53Speaker 1: and see how we do things in Washington. How do
- 33:56Speaker 1: we avoid that disaster if in fact we do have
- 34:00Speaker 1: a big red wave on election night and we do
- 34:03Speaker 1: have Republicans you know that show up that are new
- 34:06Speaker 1: even like that, you know, JD. Vance and others who
- 34:09Speaker 1: are coming from behind now leading in the polls, how
- 34:13Speaker 1: do we make sure they don't get sent back to
- 34:14Speaker 1: the back of the room and say, Okay, be quiet,
- 34:17Speaker 1: you just got here. Well, that is exactly what is
- 34:22Speaker 1: going to happen, what leadership is going to try to do.
- 34:25Speaker 1: And it's important for people to realize that the battle
- 34:28Speaker 1: is not over on election day. The battle just starts
- 34:32Speaker 1: on election day. If you and I are right that
- 34:35Speaker 1: we're going to come out of election day with big
- 34:37Speaker 1: Republican majorities in both houses, then we got to act
- 34:41Speaker 1: like it then we got to use it. Then we
- 34:43Speaker 1: got to stand up and use those majorities to deliver
- 34:46Speaker 1: on what we promised to fight back against the disastrous
- 34:49Speaker 1: policies that are hurting the American people. And what we'll
- 34:53Speaker 1: play out is we will see Republican leadership in both houses,
- 34:57Speaker 1: and the House and Senate leadership will say no, no,
- 35:00Speaker 1: we can't fight on this. No, no you can't fight
- 35:02Speaker 1: Biden on that. No you can't use that lever, No
- 35:04Speaker 1: you can't actually fight to win. I will say when
- 35:09Speaker 1: I first got to the Senate, I was elected in
- 35:11Speaker 1: twenty twelve, showed up in twenty thirteen, that's where we were.
- 35:15Speaker 1: Barack Obama had just been reelected. We had a Republican House,
- 35:18Speaker 1: we had a Democrat Senate, and our leadership was convinced
- 35:21Speaker 1: there was nothing, nothing, nothing we could fight on that
- 35:24Speaker 1: what we needed to do was roll over on everything.
- 35:26Speaker 1: And I had some epic, knock down, teardown battles with
- 35:31Speaker 1: my own leadership trying to get us to follow through
- 35:35Speaker 1: on our promises. Now, to be clear, I'm not saying
- 35:37Speaker 1: fight on everything always. If you fight on everything, you're
- 35:40Speaker 1: fighting on nothing. You've got to prioritize, You've got to
- 35:43Speaker 1: pick battles that matter and have a smart, serious strategy
- 35:47Speaker 1: to engage on those battles and win. But leadership historically
- 35:53Speaker 1: has been afraid to do so. Now you asked, how
- 35:56Speaker 1: do we change that? The single best way to change
- 35:59Speaker 1: that is doing what you and I have been doing
- 36:02Speaker 1: for the last month, which is electing rock ribbed conservatives
- 36:07Speaker 1: to the House and to the Senate. Why. Because leadership
- 36:11Speaker 1: is in many ways a mirror. Leadership reflects the conference.
- 36:16Speaker 1: If the conference is a bunch of squishes, leadership is
- 36:19Speaker 1: going to be a squish. If you elect a bunch
- 36:22Speaker 1: of rock ribbed conservatives who are ready to fight and lead,
- 36:27Speaker 1: leadership in Washington is in many ways followership. That the
- 36:32Speaker 1: best way of changing the agenda and infusing a backbone
- 36:37Speaker 1: in Republican majorities is ensuring you've got strong leaders. It's
- 36:41Speaker 1: why I think it's so important to seek out and
- 36:45Speaker 1: support people who will be those strong leaders, who won't
- 36:48Speaker 1: roll over and listen. By the way, leadership has exactly
- 36:53Speaker 1: the opposite interest. They want to see elected people who
- 36:57Speaker 1: will be docile and follow the orders. I want to
- 37:02Speaker 1: see people who are the opposite of that, people who
- 37:05Speaker 1: will follow the orders, not of the party bosses in Washington,
- 37:08Speaker 1: but the people who elected them, and so these races
- 37:12Speaker 1: are a battle where I'm trying and you know what, Look,
- 37:15Speaker 1: you also don't have to transform the entirety of the
- 37:19Speaker 1: conference in the Senate. You don't have to have half
- 37:24Speaker 1: of the Republican Senators be rock rib conservatives. I'd love it,
- 37:29Speaker 1: but to change the place, you don't need to control
- 37:32Speaker 1: all the numbers. You need big enough to be able
- 37:36Speaker 1: to shift the dynamic in the Conference and the Senate.
- 37:40Speaker 1: Literally one or two senators can make that difference. In
- 37:43Speaker 1: the House, it takes more, which is why I'm playing
- 37:46Speaker 1: in a lot more races. But the objective is the same,
- 37:49Speaker 1: which is to elect conservative leaders who will do what
- 37:53Speaker 1: they said they would do. It's going to be very,
- 37:58Speaker 1: very fun to watch election unfold. Senator. I do mean
- 38:02Speaker 1: this sincerely, thank you for your leadership on this twenty
- 38:06Speaker 1: five for twenty two and getting behind some of these candidates,
- 38:09Speaker 1: also even helping with some Senate races as well, like
- 38:12Speaker 1: Mike Lees, which is looking a little bit better in Utah.
- 38:15Speaker 1: This is going to be an important day. Our closing
- 38:19Speaker 1: argument and for every one of you listening is make
- 38:22Speaker 1: sure you vote, make sure you talk to your family
- 38:25Speaker 1: and friends and get them to vote on election day.
- 38:28Speaker 1: We will also be with you live on election night
- 38:32Speaker 1: to break down the results. So make sure you follow Verdict,
- 38:36Speaker 1: make sure you follow the sent on Twitter and Facebook,
- 38:40Speaker 1: and we will go live there for you share this
- 38:43Speaker 1: podcast or your family and friends. On a side note, Senator,
- 38:46Speaker 1: I know you're excited because you get to do make
- 38:49Speaker 1: memories with your family. You got the World Series. I
- 38:53Speaker 1: want your prediction quickly. What do you think is going
- 38:55Speaker 1: to happen? Well, you and I are recording this Saturday
- 38:59Speaker 1: afternoon tonight. I'm going to Game six. I'm going with Katherine,
- 39:03Speaker 1: my twelve year old. My prediction is stros and six.
- 39:06Speaker 1: We'll see if that happens. When this comes out, you'll
- 39:08Speaker 1: know if that was right or wrong. I hope I'm
- 39:10Speaker 1: not eating crow, but but I feel pretty good about it. Well,
- 39:13Speaker 1: and a lot of people don't realize this has become
- 39:16Speaker 1: your and your daughter's things. It's become a tradition of yours,
- 39:19Speaker 1: which makes it so special. It is amazing going to
- 39:24Speaker 1: playoff games with Katherine. We've been doing it every year
- 39:27Speaker 1: for six years at a row now. We started back
- 39:30Speaker 1: in twenty seventeen when the Astros had that incredible run
- 39:33Speaker 1: and won the World Series. And they've been in the
- 39:36Speaker 1: ALCS every year since then, six consecutive years, four of
- 39:40Speaker 1: the last six World Series. And I've taken Katherine to
- 39:45Speaker 1: a whole bunch of those home games throughout and it
- 39:48Speaker 1: has become probably my favorite daddy daughter bonding time. It's
- 39:52Speaker 1: awesome one. Enjoy the Game Center. We'll see all of
- 39:55Speaker 1: you guys listening on election night as well, and we'll
- 40:00Speaker 1: see you then. Thanks for joining us as always, Hit
