- 1:47Speaker 1: what's good? Thanks for having me? Man? Well, you know
- 1:50Speaker 1: you know we we we we we said with agreedlea.
- 1:52Speaker 1: We've been talking a lot the last couple of years
- 1:59Speaker 1: has been very very good to the Rucker hashood yeah yeah, yeah,
- 2:04Speaker 1: and I would I would love to say and vice versa.
- 2:07Speaker 1: You know what I mean. I try to try to
- 2:09Speaker 1: be an asset everywhere I go. So absolutely blessed and thankful,
- 2:14Speaker 1: grateful to the own lions Gate Harpo family for m
- 2:19Speaker 1: Um for believing in me and seeing the value that
- 2:22Speaker 1: I can bring to U to the work that they're creating.
- 2:25Speaker 1: And I'm incredibly excited. I think this is literally just
- 2:28Speaker 1: the tippity iceberg. I would love to continue to do
- 2:31Speaker 1: some some wonderful things in that, you know, in that
- 2:35Speaker 1: family of of of allies, you know, so shout out
- 2:38Speaker 1: to Discovery Um, you know as well man, you know
- 2:42Speaker 1: everybody involved, So don't be surprised, man, you know, hopefully
- 2:46Speaker 1: be on some that geo stuff and everything else. I'm like,
- 2:50Speaker 1: you know, some cooking shows, you might be building houses
- 2:53Speaker 1: and gardening and who knows what, like whatever, whatever. Don't
- 2:57Speaker 1: don't get me excited that, lamar, because you know, relationship, financial,
- 3:02Speaker 1: you know, planning and travel and like let's let's do it.
- 3:05Speaker 1: Let's well, you know, that's that's what we kind of
- 3:07Speaker 1: say it off area because our relationship goes way back. Man.
- 3:10Speaker 1: You know any time I we've been on panels together
- 3:13Speaker 1: for the Black Black Uh Movie Festival here in Atlanta,
- 3:18Speaker 1: when I asked you to come down to Disney for
- 3:20Speaker 1: the Disney Dreamers, You've always been a person who had
- 3:24Speaker 1: value in conversation, value and effort. You know, it was
- 3:28Speaker 1: a lot of people they say they do you do
- 3:30Speaker 1: what you say? Why is that important to you and
- 3:33Speaker 1: your brand and why it's important to educate young people
- 3:36Speaker 1: moving forward? Yeah? Well, I think the most important thing
- 3:39Speaker 1: is is where is the last part of that question
- 3:42Speaker 1: is it's the value. It's it's your value and your
- 3:45Speaker 1: understanding of your responsibility to serve you know, serve young people,
- 3:50Speaker 1: serve peers. I mean, you know, you and I serve
- 3:53Speaker 1: one another. We love and support and encourage and empowering
- 3:56Speaker 1: up lift each other. Um. You know that the branding
- 4:00Speaker 1: is completely secondary. I believe if you're doing what you're
- 4:03Speaker 1: supposed to be doing, if you're being who you're supposed
- 4:06Speaker 1: to be, if you're walking and living and your love
- 4:08Speaker 1: and your life on a regular basis, your brand will
- 4:12Speaker 1: be shaped around you, not you having to try to
- 4:15Speaker 1: be something You're not just because it's going to sell
- 4:19Speaker 1: or look good or profit you in some way. So
- 4:22Speaker 1: I do my best to work from the inside out,
- 4:24Speaker 1: not the outside in. And that's been my walk to
- 4:28Speaker 1: just be authentic to who I am. H to use
- 4:31Speaker 1: my voice, um, you know, to speak for truth, to
- 4:34Speaker 1: speak to equality, to speak to education, and um, you know,
- 4:40Speaker 1: empowerment and equality for all people. So in all the
- 4:43Speaker 1: various ways that I try to do that, UM, that's
- 4:46Speaker 1: really what's important to me. And I think that's important
- 4:48Speaker 1: for everybody to find and identify what their walk is
- 4:53Speaker 1: and how what their voice is, and how they um
- 4:58Speaker 1: fight for faith and how they fight for fulfillment and uh,
- 5:03Speaker 1: and how they fight for freedom. Well, it's awesome when
- 5:06Speaker 1: I when I look at our relationship and look at
- 5:07Speaker 1: your you know, your producer you know, and uh actors.
- 5:12Speaker 1: Sometimes a lot of people look at the actors and
- 5:15Speaker 1: that's all they do is act. But you've been an
- 5:17Speaker 1: entrepreneur in my life. You've been an activist in my life.
- 5:20Speaker 1: Now this movie here, we know pandemic has been raging
- 5:23Speaker 1: this year and you just came off the very successful
- 5:25Speaker 1: series green Leaf. How is that? You know? We always
- 5:29Speaker 1: want to be involved with projects that are special to me.
- 5:32Speaker 1: That felt like a very special series. And you know
- 5:35Speaker 1: you've done a lot of significant work, don't don't get
- 5:37Speaker 1: me wrong, you know because I know your resume. But
- 5:40Speaker 1: how whether that, whether that that relationship with that series
- 5:45Speaker 1: landing your career. Oh man, it's what's what? You just
- 5:49Speaker 1: gave me chills because uh and I just became aware
- 5:52Speaker 1: of the chill right as I was about to open
- 5:55Speaker 1: my mouth. But uh, it's real deep. How you know
- 6:00Speaker 1: what life uh not just does for you, but what
- 6:04Speaker 1: it does in you? And and I found a very
- 6:08Speaker 1: very poetic timing, if you will, with the work that
- 6:13Speaker 1: has uh come my way and the work that I've
- 6:17Speaker 1: chosen to do. This isn't just somebody plucking you and
- 6:20Speaker 1: saying I like you, I want you, and then you
- 6:23Speaker 1: just say you know, it's a relationship and it's an
- 6:27Speaker 1: agreement to say, Okay, you want me to be there,
- 6:31Speaker 1: and you think I'm your guy, let me make sure
- 6:34Speaker 1: i'm your guy because if I say yes, I've got
- 6:37Speaker 1: work to do, I've got a duty to you, I've
- 6:39Speaker 1: got an obligation to you, But I want to have
- 6:42Speaker 1: fun with you. I want us to do something profound
- 6:45Speaker 1: and I want to be able to authentically bring myself,
- 6:48Speaker 1: bring my gift, bring my voice to you to elevate
- 6:52Speaker 1: what we're gonna do together. And that um, the timing
- 6:57Speaker 1: of green Leaf, uh, and even my own personal walk
- 7:01Speaker 1: of faith, of fatherhood, of husbandhood, of you know, brotherhood,
- 7:07Speaker 1: um whatever of service UM really had a really interesting
- 7:12Speaker 1: actually contrast in many ways, but also an interesting parallel
- 7:17Speaker 1: to Jacob's you know, um life. To Jacob's walk, to
- 7:22Speaker 1: his process of self discovery, UM, you know, him trying
- 7:28Speaker 1: to figure out who he is and what he is
- 7:31Speaker 1: and how to you know, create his own identity aside
- 7:35Speaker 1: from you know, all these other people in this family family,
- 7:41Speaker 1: but it ain't no small fan you know, and and
- 7:44Speaker 1: and as regular as we are, which is what we
- 7:46Speaker 1: all made a commitment to do, is like no, no, no no,
- 7:48Speaker 1: We're gonna show that this this family is real regularly
- 7:51Speaker 1: are normal, regular folks that got regular, real stuff like
- 7:54Speaker 1: any other family. Let's focus on that. You know, if
- 7:57Speaker 1: we focus on that, all the other fab listeners about us,
- 8:01Speaker 1: you know, we'll just be icing on the cake. But
- 8:03Speaker 1: let's be the cake, not the icing, you know what
- 8:05Speaker 1: I'm saying, Not just trying to be the little fancy,
- 8:07Speaker 1: cute sweet cherry on top. Let's be you know, let's
- 8:11Speaker 1: give this some real density and structure and flavor and
- 8:16Speaker 1: you know, really let it. Let this be a rich,
- 8:19Speaker 1: moist cake that you you want more and more and
- 8:22Speaker 1: more of. So that it was a lot of fun
- 8:25Speaker 1: doing that, and it was a great character exploration. UM,
- 8:29Speaker 1: wonderful to play somebody who I believe was a really
- 8:33Speaker 1: magnificent example of the beauty and brilliance of black family
- 8:39Speaker 1: and even of a black man, to show that, even
- 8:42Speaker 1: in his flaws, and however he might screw up the
- 8:46Speaker 1: time and time and make poor decisions, at his core, Um,
- 8:53Speaker 1: you saw how you know, you you saw how incredibly
- 8:56Speaker 1: wonderful he was, and you were praying for him and um,
- 9:01Speaker 1: hoping that he would succeed, and and knowing that he
- 9:05Speaker 1: wanted to do better, and you wanted what he wanted
- 9:08Speaker 1: for him. Actually you wanted more than he may have
- 9:10Speaker 1: even wanted for himself. And that's so very true. That's true,
- 9:13Speaker 1: very true. And then watch him go through It wasn't
- 9:16Speaker 1: the fun of it. Most of the time we've got
- 9:18Speaker 1: we keep these you know, barricades up, or we put
- 9:22Speaker 1: these facades up so you can't really see the truth.
- 9:25Speaker 1: And I tried at least let us do this and
- 9:27Speaker 1: at some point remove that veil altogether and really let
- 9:30Speaker 1: people kind of see the heart. Um uh, you know,
- 9:33Speaker 1: in the trials and tribulations. That's why I love that
- 9:36Speaker 1: character for you, Lamar. That's why I love that character
- 9:38Speaker 1: for you, because, like I said, I'm mad. I get mad.
- 9:41Speaker 1: I got mad at you. Okay, you know what I'm saying, right,
- 9:44Speaker 1: you know, you know what I'm saying. You walk into Hovard,
- 9:46Speaker 1: you know, patment with this chick. Come on, come on, loan,
- 9:49Speaker 1: I'm I'm talking to the screen. I'm talking to sat exactly.
- 9:53Speaker 1: Stop stop. That's what too. Man. There's so many men,
- 9:56Speaker 1: you know. It's been great, been on occasies like you
- 9:59Speaker 1: know they like. Of course, the dominant fan base of
- 10:02Speaker 1: women around the world is great, you know, but to
- 10:06Speaker 1: have the you know, a very equitable admiration and respect
- 10:10Speaker 1: and appreciation of the men you know around the world,
- 10:13Speaker 1: not just brothers and black men especially, you know, but
- 10:17Speaker 1: even to have them roll up and be like, hey, hey, bro,
- 10:21Speaker 1: I appreciate you man, you know, yelling at you from
- 10:24Speaker 1: across the street. I see you, dog, keep doing what
- 10:26Speaker 1: you think you know, but whatever, just all flow down.
- 10:33Speaker 1: Stop man, full up. I think I've got countless warnings
- 10:38Speaker 1: from don't do it, stawait from you know, things like that.
- 10:44Speaker 1: Absolutely you know what I mean. Then you need to
- 10:46Speaker 1: handle that little girl man, you know what I mean? Like, hey, girls,
- 10:50Speaker 1: ain't no joke. It's tough in so many ways that
- 10:52Speaker 1: Jacob uh. You know, so many other men identified with him,
- 10:57Speaker 1: and I thought it was gave me a lot of
- 10:59Speaker 1: pride to tell the truth in that way and for
- 11:01Speaker 1: that the resonation. And then I was in port lament
- 11:03Speaker 1: on the character because you know, a daughter and the
- 11:06Speaker 1: sun okay and so and that that that role that
- 11:09Speaker 1: you played, that male figuring. We all know how that
- 11:13Speaker 1: plays out in the black community. You know what what
- 11:15Speaker 1: is the young lady think of her dad? What is
- 11:17Speaker 1: the young man think of the role of how his
- 11:21Speaker 1: dad treated women? And all those things? You know, it's
- 11:24Speaker 1: a really great stories. You know, I hope people go
- 11:26Speaker 1: on and created and executed out to you know, uh,
- 11:33Speaker 1: to Craig Right and and Oprah and Clement Virgo as
- 11:39Speaker 1: well in particular christ Turn of Towns and you know
- 11:41Speaker 1: all the other people that we've got um again writing
- 11:45Speaker 1: stories are incredible writing team, all of our other directors
- 11:48Speaker 1: and of course you know my hacking, you know my
- 11:51Speaker 1: other peers on screen. But there's so many countless people
- 11:55Speaker 1: that were involved in telling that story. Um but yeah,
- 11:59Speaker 1: just the creation of it, support behind it and uh, cinematography.
- 12:04Speaker 1: I mean, it's just it's such a beautiful piece of
- 12:07Speaker 1: piece of art, you know, and I hope it lives on. Well.
- 12:12Speaker 1: I think it's a countless ageless classic. I really do.
- 12:15Speaker 1: It definitely is. Let's go on just cooking up Christmas.
- 12:18Speaker 1: Here you're listening to money making conversations with Rashan McDonald.
- 12:22Speaker 1: We'll be right back. Cars today are like a computer

- 13:24Speaker 1: your host, Sean McDonald. There's Tuesday, December fift on on
- 13:29Speaker 1: at nine pm. You know it's family. You got some
- 13:33Speaker 1: more kids now, but you just buy yourself this time.
- 13:37Speaker 1: You handsome, Your athletes got h that's right. You got
- 13:43Speaker 1: all the things that's safe, be successful. You got you
- 13:46Speaker 1: got the beautiful kids, the house, your successful athlete. But
- 13:50Speaker 1: there's no woman now this yea, you got money, all
- 13:54Speaker 1: this stuff that's supposed to make you hold yes, yes, yes, yes,
- 13:59Speaker 1: So tell us how this movie came on your came
- 14:01Speaker 1: on your desk and how you had the opportunity presented
- 14:04Speaker 1: yourself to you and did you shoot it during COVID
- 14:07Speaker 1: or before COVID indeed during COVID, So that was that
- 14:11Speaker 1: was crazy too. I mean, getting tested, temperature checks every
- 14:15Speaker 1: day and and you know, the whole crew and uh,
- 14:20Speaker 1: everybody's got masks and shields and you know what I mean.
- 14:24Speaker 1: And you gotta remember in between takes and after in
- 14:28Speaker 1: between setups like oh we put my mask back on,
- 14:30Speaker 1: you know, we really washed my hands. I'll let me
- 14:32Speaker 1: do this, and it's you know, and social distancing and yeah,
- 14:35Speaker 1: it was, it was. It was an undertaking, you know, um,
- 14:39Speaker 1: and I uh, it was, it was something. And I
- 14:44Speaker 1: did three projects actually during um, you know, during during COVID, UM,
- 14:50Speaker 1: and uh they were they were they were different. It was,
- 14:55Speaker 1: it was it was quite a different march. Um. But
- 14:58Speaker 1: you know, but this coming about um, you know, you
- 15:01Speaker 1: know again, shout out again to the entire uh Opal family,
- 15:05Speaker 1: you know, shout out to the whole type core family,
- 15:07Speaker 1: you know, living hope, UM, you know, everybody in the
- 15:11Speaker 1: process and you know, uh on my team you know
- 15:15Speaker 1: as well. And it just ended up being a great
- 15:18Speaker 1: a great match, great marriage. My man Roger Bob also directed,
- 15:22Speaker 1: so that that was icing on the cake. Actually speaking
- 15:28Speaker 1: of green le um Um, what's uh Countie's last name?
- 15:34Speaker 1: County Psychs Deacon Psychs, you know, played by Jenn Harper
- 15:38Speaker 1: actually plays Jen plays my mother in this film, so
- 15:43Speaker 1: you know, and uh, and and my man a Lot
- 15:47Speaker 1: who also plays one of our deacons. Uh. He plays
- 15:50Speaker 1: Uncle Buck in the film. So famail your faces. You
- 15:53Speaker 1: know um as well that we're fun. And its COVID experience,
- 15:59Speaker 1: you know, the experience of you can't see people smile,
- 16:03Speaker 1: You can't you know, unless you gotta shield on. You know,
- 16:06Speaker 1: it's really so let's let's let's walk us through that
- 16:09Speaker 1: because you know, when COVID first came out, I tell
- 16:12Speaker 1: everybody I was parandored because I didn't know, you know,
- 16:15Speaker 1: I didn't know how to go to the grocery store.
- 16:16Speaker 1: I didn't know when I came out of the grocery store,
- 16:18Speaker 1: do I put parrel on my hands? Do I throw
- 16:21Speaker 1: away the rubber gloves? And now you come to a
- 16:24Speaker 1: set where you have all these protocols of safety, but
- 16:29Speaker 1: then you also remember you gotta go back home. You
- 16:31Speaker 1: gotta go back home. And and yes, and So how
- 16:35Speaker 1: did you walk through the this because I have to
- 16:38Speaker 1: put the word courage in front of your name, okay,
- 16:41Speaker 1: because this is a courageous action. You know, it's for
- 16:45Speaker 1: your craft. It's also to put food on the table.
- 16:48Speaker 1: How it's a courageous action about you. Let's talk about
- 16:51Speaker 1: mentally where you were at physically you know you could
- 16:53Speaker 1: do it. Put the mental part the challenge, and then
- 16:57Speaker 1: with the amount of time that we had to shoot.
- 17:00Speaker 1: So you know, everything now is being so condensed one
- 17:03Speaker 1: because you're also trying to not only minimize costs, but
- 17:06Speaker 1: minimize the six leaves, expose your risks and all that.
- 17:10Speaker 1: So you're literally working virtually every day for a month,
- 17:14Speaker 1: maybe with one day off every six you know, seven
- 17:18Speaker 1: days or something like that. You know what I'm saying, Um,
- 17:21Speaker 1: the hours are crazy. So you've got to take care
- 17:23Speaker 1: of your body and be careful about being fatigued and
- 17:27Speaker 1: make sure you're getting the proper rest and recovery and nutrition,
- 17:31Speaker 1: you know, just so you can do the job. Let alone,
- 17:34Speaker 1: You've got to be careful not to make yourself vulnerable
- 17:36Speaker 1: to getting you know, yeah, to getting sick, because even
- 17:40Speaker 1: if you were to contract anything, and again it's getting chilly,
- 17:44Speaker 1: the season is changing, even screwed up the environment so
- 17:46Speaker 1: much even the animals are confused, you know what I'm saying. So, UM,
- 17:51Speaker 1: you've got a lot of things you've got to be
- 17:54Speaker 1: aware of and not trying not to say be aware
- 17:57Speaker 1: of instead aware of and so as courageous a walk
- 18:01Speaker 1: it is if you're if you're comfortable, if you create
- 18:06Speaker 1: confidence UM in yourself and how you are going about things,
- 18:12Speaker 1: doing the best you can and being disciplined and consistent,
- 18:15Speaker 1: also setting that example for others, and then yeah, holding
- 18:19Speaker 1: other people as well as UM, those that are responsible
- 18:23Speaker 1: for creating the environment to keep you safety, keep you safe,
- 18:28Speaker 1: and to focus on that safety. And having these protocols
- 18:31Speaker 1: in place, you start to be able to just kind
- 18:33Speaker 1: of relax and not think and worry so much about it.
- 18:37Speaker 1: You know, you have COVID compliance officers on set UM.
- 18:41Speaker 1: You know, again, we get tested on a regular basis
- 18:44Speaker 1: as well. And there was one person that I recall
- 18:47Speaker 1: that actually UM didn't necessarily test positive, but they thankfully
- 18:52Speaker 1: openly reported that. I think they either lived with somebody
- 18:55Speaker 1: who had just worked with somebody who had a positive
- 18:59Speaker 1: test a tracing and then they isolated that person I
- 19:03Speaker 1: believe or asked them not to come to work until
- 19:05Speaker 1: they did a B C D E and then you
- 19:08Speaker 1: know what I mean. So I think that people are
- 19:12Speaker 1: doing the best they can because again, they also don't
- 19:14Speaker 1: want to get shut down, right. That's why it's really
- 19:17Speaker 1: great that that personal appreciate our unions and I appreciate
- 19:20Speaker 1: the entities that are there to hold people accountable, you know,
- 19:25Speaker 1: because that doesn't allow them to be irresponsible, or to
- 19:28Speaker 1: be relaxed, or to be nextent, you know, not to
- 19:31Speaker 1: mention just personally, regardless of what rules there are, how
- 19:35Speaker 1: you choose to get down, you know, and how you flow,
- 19:39Speaker 1: you know, should be at a consistent standard, no matter
- 19:42Speaker 1: what other rules somebody else is making. You know. I
- 19:44Speaker 1: was saying the other day matter that we're talking about
- 19:46Speaker 1: cops and law enforcement on an earlier interview, for example,
- 19:49Speaker 1: and I'm like, I wasn't. I wasn't afraid of the
- 19:51Speaker 1: cops when I was like, when I was younger, I
- 19:54Speaker 1: would worry about the law of the house, for the
- 19:56Speaker 1: law of family, you know, So regardless of what other
- 19:59Speaker 1: laws and and protocols there are around you, you know,
- 20:03Speaker 1: in these systems, that really matters is how you govern yourself,
- 20:08Speaker 1: you know, um, you know, independent of that cool cooking
- 20:11Speaker 1: of Christmas, this is about food. This is about Christmas time.
- 20:15Speaker 1: Now now let let's let's let's go and have some
- 20:18Speaker 1: fun here. No, I know, because because she's a she's
- 20:23Speaker 1: a chef. And then it's the story about because you know,
- 20:26Speaker 1: the thing about black families, food is like especially during
- 20:29Speaker 1: the holiday season, you know, all we think about it,
- 20:32Speaker 1: and I'm sure every family thinks about those plates, talk
- 20:35Speaker 1: about these favorite disaster of every culture. Who is a centerpiece?
- 20:41Speaker 1: Food and family is the centerpiece of any you know,
- 20:47Speaker 1: so and so to me, to me, this is the
- 20:49Speaker 1: worst thing that could come your way. You know, you
- 20:52Speaker 1: in COVID doing a TV show, a movies movie that's
- 20:56Speaker 1: gonna be aired on own on December fifteen, and food
- 20:59Speaker 1: is the center and it's romance. So again again it's
- 21:03Speaker 1: romantic and COVID food, You and COVID. So it's like,
- 21:08Speaker 1: this is a beautiful movie concept, but all these uh,
- 21:11Speaker 1: the safety protocols are sitting that depth that you can't
- 21:13Speaker 1: really be romantic, that you really can't eat talk about that. Man,
- 21:20Speaker 1: we were kind of like, well, you know, like I
- 21:24Speaker 1: always have these conversations with my leading ladies anyway, it's
- 21:27Speaker 1: just like, okay, so how can I touch your right
- 21:32Speaker 1: one with one another or into each other or married
- 21:35Speaker 1: for years or whatever. All right, let's talk about our
- 21:38Speaker 1: you know, boundaries, and so now it's almost almost like assumed,
- 21:43Speaker 1: well almost like well, all right, well, obviously we ain't
- 21:45Speaker 1: gonna be touching each other again't gonna be kissed with
- 21:47Speaker 1: each other. So how we're gonna do this without making
- 21:50Speaker 1: it weird or making it, you know, not look fluid
- 21:54Speaker 1: and sincere and warm and romantic. So again you start
- 21:58Speaker 1: to figure out how to do that with these adjustments.
- 22:00Speaker 1: But yeah, it was tough. You see all this food
- 22:03Speaker 1: and you want to be like, yeah, it passed me
- 22:04Speaker 1: to such and such, and you know, pass this instead.
- 22:08Speaker 1: All the foods covered, we got masks on. You can't
- 22:10Speaker 1: touch each other's. You ten tools, and I mean, it's
- 22:13Speaker 1: like the whole point of this time of year typically
- 22:17Speaker 1: is this rock simity. It's this, It's this intimacy, it's
- 22:21Speaker 1: just sharing, it's this you know what I mean. It's yeah,
- 22:25Speaker 1: it's the fact that I ain't seeing you all year
- 22:28Speaker 1: or maybe in years. So now we're gonna be all
- 22:31Speaker 1: over each other's family on top of each other. Kids
- 22:33Speaker 1: on your last claim. That's that's the fun call right there,
- 22:36Speaker 1: the kids, you know, because you know, you know you're
- 22:39Speaker 1: you're an athlete, and you know dad's home and run
- 22:42Speaker 1: up to you. That can't happen. You know, you're sitting
- 22:45Speaker 1: on the sofa, you know, jump on you. That can't happen.
- 22:48Speaker 1: So it really you really got to now you really
- 22:51Speaker 1: got to think about the acting steps, the acting techniques
- 22:54Speaker 1: and thought and things. Is taking it beyond normalcy to
- 22:59Speaker 1: covid NAT. Yeah, it's tricky, but but again, everybody, please
- 23:04Speaker 1: have the discipline to do things differently than you know
- 23:08Speaker 1: this year. Trust me, it's okay. The sooner we have
- 23:13Speaker 1: that discipline that than this year, and he probably even
- 23:17Speaker 1: next year. You know. But I'd rather sacrifice the comforts
- 23:21Speaker 1: that we're accustomed to for however so many prior decades
- 23:25Speaker 1: or centuries or generations. I'd rather sacrifice these two years
- 23:29Speaker 1: in order to get the best of some of those
- 23:32Speaker 1: traditions back, you know. But if we don't have the discipline,
- 23:36Speaker 1: it won't just take one or two years, It'll take five, ten, twenty,
- 23:40Speaker 1: will never get ourselves back on track. Some things we
- 23:42Speaker 1: probably should do a little differently, you know. So this
- 23:45Speaker 1: is probably gonna teach us some new lessons and maybe
- 23:47Speaker 1: some new traditions and that are also be discovered. But yeah,
- 23:51Speaker 1: we want to get back to the stuff that's that's
- 23:54Speaker 1: really warm and really you know, about being loving human
- 23:58Speaker 1: beings because you brought is earlier about home life. You
- 24:01Speaker 1: know a lot of things that we got away from,
- 24:04Speaker 1: whether it is hygienes and washing your hands and all
- 24:06Speaker 1: those things because you know, they've always said during the flu,
- 24:10Speaker 1: if you just wash your hands, that would cut down
- 24:12Speaker 1: on you getting the flu. That's always been stated, Okay,
- 24:15Speaker 1: and so wearing a mask is part of the part
- 24:19Speaker 1: is just an upgrade to washing your hands all the time.
- 24:21Speaker 1: But so so we're not asking people to do anything
- 24:24Speaker 1: outside of normalcy other than other than you can't hug
- 24:28Speaker 1: everybody you don't don't know, and you can't hug everybody.
- 24:30Speaker 1: Be more mindful of that. And so when you come
- 24:33Speaker 1: up when you gotta show a movie coming out like
- 24:35Speaker 1: Cooking Up Christmas, like I said again, premiers uh deceper
- 24:39Speaker 1: fifteen owned stars my man Lamar Rutger who has been
- 24:42Speaker 1: in everything and uh and then from an activist, if
- 24:46Speaker 1: you had to say anything and just wrapping up because
- 24:49Speaker 1: I can never just talk to you about your projects
- 24:51Speaker 1: because you are like you was honored this year by
- 24:54Speaker 1: Cafe mokel Radio. I saw that when you were honored,
- 24:57Speaker 1: so and I was really I was proud. I watched
- 24:59Speaker 1: that and you know, was on the big screen and
- 25:01Speaker 1: lending love was talking to you and everything, and yeah,
- 25:04Speaker 1: those are the man that, uh makes me feel good
- 25:07Speaker 1: about you, man, makes me feel good about the relationship
- 25:09Speaker 1: I have with you, we've created over the year. Tell
- 25:12Speaker 1: us about being honored by Cafine Moke Radio, Well, I
- 25:15Speaker 1: mean that and meant a lot, man. I mean, that's
- 25:17Speaker 1: that's part of what I was saying earlier. Man. Um,
- 25:20Speaker 1: you know, you know how it is as as a
- 25:22Speaker 1: black man and is I mean aside from again obviously
- 25:26Speaker 1: shining on each other and knowing how wonderful we are
- 25:29Speaker 1: as black men. Um, having the love and support, um
- 25:33Speaker 1: and encouragement of your sisters and of your you know,
- 25:37Speaker 1: a black love black woman in general is incredibly powerful.
- 25:42Speaker 1: So my respect for the ladies over there and what
- 25:45Speaker 1: they've been doing over the years, Um, the lives that
- 25:47Speaker 1: they're living, the legacies that they're building, and the fact
- 25:50Speaker 1: that they also now created this vehicle to support and
- 25:55Speaker 1: acknowledge and uplift other people as well. It's incredibly powerful things.
- 25:59Speaker 1: So I was wonderfully honored, um always uh you know,
- 26:04Speaker 1: entertained by by the gifts and personalities of MC girl,
- 26:09Speaker 1: Lonnie and and uh you know the rest of the
- 26:11Speaker 1: crew over there. Um. So you know, when we do this,
- 26:16Speaker 1: even when you and I, this is always this is
- 26:18Speaker 1: part of this is part of the love. But this
- 26:19Speaker 1: is also part of the accountability. You know. We know
- 26:22Speaker 1: that when we're out here walking our walk, that would
- 26:25Speaker 1: representing each other, you know, and every opportunity we get,
- 26:28Speaker 1: whether it's this direct or not, you know, it's always
- 26:32Speaker 1: about like, hey, how can I you know, make sure
- 26:37Speaker 1: I'm showing love, supporting and shining like on what this
- 26:40Speaker 1: person is doing, because if they're doing something wonderful then
- 26:43Speaker 1: and they're also a reflection of me and a reflection
- 26:46Speaker 1: of so many of the other people who are out
- 26:48Speaker 1: there doing something wonderful. So let's let's tell the story.
- 26:51Speaker 1: Let's show that, um, this great stuff is happening. You know.
- 26:56Speaker 1: Look look, you know, look around you know, so even
- 26:58Speaker 1: my organization, the Black Gents, like that's what we're about.
- 27:01Speaker 1: And it's like, yo, like, look at the look at
- 27:04Speaker 1: Rashan McDonald, Look at the Rushan McDonald's of the world.
- 27:07Speaker 1: Look at the other men out here doing what we
- 27:10Speaker 1: know black men do and what we know black men
- 27:12Speaker 1: do on the regular. Hey, what are our sisters doing?
- 27:15Speaker 1: What are our mothers and daughters and you know and
- 27:18Speaker 1: lovers and grandmothers and whatever? What are they doing? Okay,
- 27:21Speaker 1: let's shine on our women. Let's uphold and uh and
- 27:25Speaker 1: love and you know, support, Like whatever our women and
- 27:30Speaker 1: sisters and children are doing, how can we do that?
- 27:33Speaker 1: Like that's like that's an incredible way to uh to
- 27:36Speaker 1: live and breathe. And anybody that's part of that type
- 27:40Speaker 1: of love proposition, anybody that's out here, um, fighting for
- 27:44Speaker 1: what's right even when nobody's looking like those are the
- 27:48Speaker 1: stories I'm always open to telling. And those are the
- 27:51Speaker 1: people that I love to lock arms with, you know,
- 27:53Speaker 1: So you speaking in this march with you, bro. If
- 27:57Speaker 1: I've always you know, as as a famous art work
- 28:01Speaker 1: where you locking arms like this, you know, and he's
- 28:04Speaker 1: reaching down like that, I've always envisioned that being the
- 28:08Speaker 1: role you playing, like because like like I said, he's
- 28:10Speaker 1: more than an actor, he's an activist, he's a he's
- 28:13Speaker 1: a community uplift. I'm gonna make up a work. He's
- 28:16Speaker 1: in the community uplifting. That's what he does. All the
- 28:19Speaker 1: times I've asked him, all the times I didn't ask them,
- 28:22Speaker 1: he's called. But his brother has been to Dollars with me,
- 28:25Speaker 1: to Steve Harvard camps. He's been to Orlando with me,
- 28:29Speaker 1: to the Disney Dreamers. These are these kids, Okay, he's
- 28:33Speaker 1: set aside the time I've been sitting on board with
- 28:35Speaker 1: him talking about how to break into the film industry
- 28:38Speaker 1: in Atlanta. So I got a track record with him,
- 28:42Speaker 1: and and showing what he's done in the black gents,
- 28:44Speaker 1: and him being an entrepreneur and and every like said,
- 28:47Speaker 1: These interviews always fun with me because, like I said,
- 28:50Speaker 1: we talked about his role and what he's doing on
- 28:52Speaker 1: the screen, but it always drifts back to the man
- 28:54Speaker 1: he is off the screen and cooking up Christmas is
- 28:57Speaker 1: just an opportunity to see his talents, he said, for
- 29:00Speaker 1: fifteen on the on Network, but more importantly, what he's
- 29:03Speaker 1: doing off the camera. You know when he's doing walking
- 29:06Speaker 1: down the street, when you're going, hey, Jacob Steep rocking boy,
- 29:09Speaker 1: I love you and Green keep rocking on the brother
- 29:15Speaker 1: your community of andft the Lament. Thank you, Bron, I
- 29:18Speaker 1: really want to take my pleasure man. Thanks always so
- 29:21Speaker 1: you know so uh so much fun to be here
- 29:23Speaker 1: with your bag. Like literally, we could do this even
- 29:26Speaker 1: with there were no cameras or whatever. Man, we'd be
- 29:28Speaker 1: just chopping it up, you know what I mean. And
- 29:30Speaker 1: we don't chop it up. Like I said, I'll turn
- 29:32Speaker 1: you off air. Don't do this, man, just sit around
- 29:35Speaker 1: Atlanta all that stuff he was talking about. We could
- 29:39Speaker 1: do it now again. If you want to come to
- 29:41Speaker 1: you want to see any more episodes of Money Making Conversation,

- 30:17Speaker 1: This report is brought to you by Humanity. If you're
- 30:19Speaker 1: a veteran Medicare. There are Medicare advantage plans that compliment
- 30:23Speaker 1: the coverage you get through the v A. Ed Sandric
- 30:25Speaker 1: is director of Humaniz Veterans Channel. How does the Medicare
- 30:28Speaker 1: advantage plan work with VA benefits? A Medicare advantaged plan
- 30:32Speaker 1: can compliment the health care services and benefits that the
- 30:35Speaker 1: veteran gets it through the VA Medicare advantaged plans that
- 30:38Speaker 1: human offers, particularly Humanity Honor Medicare Advantage Plan, which was
- 30:42Speaker 1: designed with veterans in mind. Who used the v A
- 30:45Speaker 1: worked side by side as I said that it kind
- 30:47Speaker 1: of compliments the VA healthcare. An individual can go to
- 30:50Speaker 1: the v A for the services that here she wants
- 30:53Speaker 1: or needs of the v A and is elch BELFO
- 30:55Speaker 1: and also can use the Medicare Advantage network as well.
- 30:59Speaker 1: Side o side. They don't the uh interrupt one another. UM.
- 31:03Speaker 1: There are some and misconceptions among the veteran community that
- 31:08Speaker 1: they may jeopardize their VA healthcare should they use original
- 31:11Speaker 1: Medicare a medical advantace. That's just not the case. For
- 31:13Speaker 1: more information, visit you Matta dot com slash Medicare hi.

- 32:01Speaker 1: a matter of becoming a healthy, whole individual and dealing
- 32:04Speaker 1: with some historical traumas and recognizing that, you know, I
- 32:08Speaker 1: was a slave to what other people wanted of me
- 32:11Speaker 1: and not being what I was created to be. The

- 32:58Speaker 1: Please working the money making come station. The author of
- 33:01Speaker 1: The Unstoppable Warrior One Mr Brashwan Shaw. Yes, I love
- 33:06Speaker 1: that introduction. I'm like, who is that? I love that woman? Well,
- 33:10Speaker 1: I love a lot. Look, I left out the huffard,
- 33:12Speaker 1: the poles. I left our old problem of ABC NBC,
- 33:15Speaker 1: a rug in DC affiliate and in in d C
- 33:18Speaker 1: area down. There a lot going on in your life.
- 33:21Speaker 1: So to tell, just just tell everybody we're you're right now.
- 33:24Speaker 1: Before we get in the book and also some backstory. Um,
- 33:28Speaker 1: so I mean Washington, d C. Right now, I live
- 33:30Speaker 1: in Washington in New York. Um born and raised in Washington,
- 33:35Speaker 1: d C. You know, outside of it, a small town
- 33:38Speaker 1: Fort Washington, Maryland, had big dreams and big goals. You know,
- 33:41Speaker 1: I always said I wanted more. My father was from
- 33:45Speaker 1: a small town Gilbert, Louisiana, one stoplight and two hundred people,
- 33:51Speaker 1: and and he said he wanted more. He had eight
- 33:55Speaker 1: siblings living in a two bedroom house. And my father
- 33:57Speaker 1: started one of the biggest construction companies UM in the
- 34:00Speaker 1: d C area. And I grew on to start one
- 34:04Speaker 1: of the biggest coaching and training programs in the country.
- 34:07Speaker 1: So despite of you can still do it. And now
- 34:12Speaker 1: you left out some important moments of your father. Your
- 34:15Speaker 1: father who drove a rother melal truck. Yea truck, so
- 34:20Speaker 1: you know exactly, So I don't want to glass over
- 34:24Speaker 1: that because you know, to get to run in a
- 34:25Speaker 1: big construction in the DC area, which is phenomenal. You know,
- 34:29Speaker 1: there was a person who came from a humble beginnings
- 34:32Speaker 1: Louisiana from Houston, Texas. So I have no humble beginnings.
- 34:35Speaker 1: Drive through the Louisiana all the time to get to
- 34:37Speaker 1: Atlanta or as you drive through the do comedy days
- 34:39Speaker 1: back when I was doing stand up comedy. So let's
- 34:41Speaker 1: talk about those humble beginnings of your father, because basically
- 34:44Speaker 1: he built your brand, now built who you are today.
- 34:47Speaker 1: Watermelonal truck, ice team truck, come up. Let's talk about that.
- 34:52Speaker 1: You know. You know my father and I always asked him.
- 34:55Speaker 1: He said, for Sean, you are not where you come from, right,
- 35:00Speaker 1: meaning you are you have your background, you have your
- 35:02Speaker 1: strength and your courage. But you don't have to stay
- 35:05Speaker 1: in that environment. You can dream big, think big, be big.
- 35:09Speaker 1: And my father always said, don't let people put boundaries
- 35:13Speaker 1: on your dreams. Don't let people put walls on what
- 35:16Speaker 1: you believe in. And so he always told me, even
- 35:19Speaker 1: as a little kid, if you want to be the
- 35:22Speaker 1: president of the United States, you can't. I don't care
- 35:25Speaker 1: about the color of your skin. I don't care about
- 35:28Speaker 1: where you come from. It's where you end up. That's
- 35:31Speaker 1: what he always said. It's not where you come from,
- 35:33Speaker 1: it's where you end up. And so my father knew
- 35:36Speaker 1: he wanted more. He knew that he didn't want to
- 35:38Speaker 1: play small. So he said, look, if I have to
- 35:41Speaker 1: save money, um, selling watermelons. I will do that. I
- 35:45Speaker 1: mean like selling watermelons. And then if I have to
- 35:47Speaker 1: save money as ice creams, because he saw a need.

- 38:47Speaker 1: like meaning he is so confident and I love that
- 38:50Speaker 1: and I think that's where I got it from. He's like,
- 38:52Speaker 1: never let someone dim your light. He is into like,
- 38:56Speaker 1: don't let someone dim you Like. So my father is
- 38:58Speaker 1: now um going to eight five, I mean, still wants
- 39:01Speaker 1: to drive, still wants to day women in their forties
- 39:04Speaker 1: because he's living and not dying right. And when I
- 39:07Speaker 1: realized is most people are dying and not living right.
- 39:10Speaker 1: Most people play mediocre and play small. They give up.
- 39:14Speaker 1: They just give up. They give up to what life
- 39:17Speaker 1: has given them. They say, well, you know, I'll get by.
- 39:21Speaker 1: I'm just good enough. I don't want to rock the boat.
- 39:24Speaker 1: I don't want to be uncomfortable. I don't want to
- 39:27Speaker 1: take it this far. I got enough. Like they put
- 39:31Speaker 1: come constraints around their dreams and box them. I say
- 39:35Speaker 1: go for it. I say go bigger, go home. I
- 39:38Speaker 1: say knock it out the park. And that's when my
- 39:39Speaker 1: father believes, knock it out the park. We've been knocking
- 39:42Speaker 1: out the park just two thousand eleven. I say that
- 39:44Speaker 1: day because that's when the uh the birth of the
- 39:47Speaker 1: warrior warmant. We acknowledge your gift. When you walk those
- 39:50Speaker 1: stage fearful, because of that's the number one fear. When
- 39:54Speaker 1: they book will tell you the number one fear of
- 39:55Speaker 1: anybody is public speaking. And you walk those and then
- 39:59Speaker 1: you you told your truth. Talk about that moment which
- 40:03Speaker 1: gave the birth of the true warrior woman. And that's you.
- 40:07Speaker 1: Thank you. Um you know it's so funny. I remember
- 40:11Speaker 1: my doctor saying, uh, Brashaan, I want you to speak
- 40:15Speaker 1: to the audience. And I was like me, why you
- 40:18Speaker 1: know and she said, because we gave you three months
- 40:21Speaker 1: to live. It's almost two years and we don't see
- 40:25Speaker 1: the cancer. And I used to come into chemo with
- 40:28Speaker 1: a fur coat, lipstick and some my heel shoes. I
- 40:30Speaker 1: was like, I'm not dying. I Am not coming in
- 40:33Speaker 1: with a sweatsuit. He are not done, like I'm coming
- 40:35Speaker 1: in like I'm living. And so I remember doing that
- 40:39Speaker 1: speech and it probably was the first time I really
- 40:42Speaker 1: really really spoke my truth. It was the first time
- 40:45Speaker 1: that I let it all go. It wasn't the nice Brashan,
- 40:49Speaker 1: the pretty brash the Brashan that had it all together,
- 40:52Speaker 1: the successful Brashan. It was the real Brashan, the brushon
- 40:56Speaker 1: that had fears, the Brashan that was scared, the Sean
- 41:00Speaker 1: that had issues, that Shawn that was okay to share.
- 41:04Speaker 1: And um, that's when it all came out at that
- 41:06Speaker 1: and someone screamed, you are a warrior. She was like,
- 41:09Speaker 1: you are a warrior. Wow, You're And that's where my
- 41:13Speaker 1: braind came out, and then the whole audience started screaming,
- 41:16Speaker 1: you are a warrior, and I was like, wow, people
- 41:19Speaker 1: are really listening to me. They're really standing up, giving
- 41:23Speaker 1: me a standing ovation to listen to me. And it's
- 41:27Speaker 1: really interesting when you talk like that, because we are
- 41:29Speaker 1: tend to be a fearful to tell our story or
- 41:32Speaker 1: or watered down and don't want to tell all the
- 41:35Speaker 1: facts and then guess what, the truth doesn't really tell
- 41:38Speaker 1: your journey. You know, just to share my side of
- 41:41Speaker 1: the story, I'm I'm a cancer survivor, okay, I'm when
- 41:46Speaker 1: I was recording when I and we can share these moments,
- 41:48Speaker 1: emotional moments because you know, I tell people and when
- 41:51Speaker 1: they're telling you that you have cancer, I'm in the
- 41:54Speaker 1: world stops right there. I mean, it's like, uh, it's
- 41:57Speaker 1: not forth life and death. It is probably the most
- 42:00Speaker 1: powerful word that you can get from a doctor or
- 42:03Speaker 1: somebody of America profession because all the death just jumped
- 42:07Speaker 1: into your world and you start start dealing with instant
- 42:10Speaker 1: thoughts of what else, why me? What do I do?
- 42:13Speaker 1: Just talk about your moment and when that happened, and
- 42:16Speaker 1: like I said, uh, what you're battling and uh and
- 42:19Speaker 1: where you at right now? So First of all, thank
- 42:22Speaker 1: you for sharing um your story too, because you know,
- 42:25Speaker 1: from survivor to to survivor, we're thriving from from we drive. UM.
- 42:35Speaker 1: You know it's true when when you hear you have cancer,
- 42:38Speaker 1: but stage four terminal breast cancer, UM cancer all over
- 42:44Speaker 1: your body, your world stopped. I mean it's I mean,
- 42:48Speaker 1: you see death, you see when it is my time.
- 42:51Speaker 1: And I gotta tell you, Rashan, I remember it's so clearly. Um.
- 42:56Speaker 1: I said, dr, what can I do? Like, I mean,
- 42:58Speaker 1: what can I do? Like? You know, I'm young, I'm
- 43:01Speaker 1: thirty something like, what can I do? And he said,
- 43:04Speaker 1: do you believe in miracles? And at that moment, something
- 43:07Speaker 1: just hit me in my core and I said, you
- 43:09Speaker 1: know what, Hell yeah, I believe in miracles and I
- 43:12Speaker 1: believe in God. And I said, you know what, Doc,
- 43:15Speaker 1: I'll see you in teen years because I'm gonna be here.
- 43:17Speaker 1: I'm not letting this cancer take me out. And it's
- 43:20Speaker 1: something in me clicked. And it was the click of
- 43:25Speaker 1: fear or faith. That's what clicked, fear or faith because
- 43:31Speaker 1: I could live in fear and say I'm gonna die.
- 43:33Speaker 1: Because he was like, get your affairs in order, Da
- 43:36Speaker 1: da da da. I mean we sent your tests to M.
- 43:39Speaker 1: D Anderson, Sloan, George Washington d g W. I mean
- 43:44Speaker 1: everywhere George Town. So it was conclusive that it was
- 43:48Speaker 1: staged four. It was conclusive that it was there. It
- 43:51Speaker 1: was conclusive that it was aggressive. Like all of this
- 43:53Speaker 1: was concluded. This wasn't like okay, they were confused a
- 43:57Speaker 1: little bit. This was a conclusion. But I said, I
- 44:00Speaker 1: went into that hallway and I said, God, if you
- 44:03Speaker 1: keep me alive, just keep me alive, I will um.
- 44:07Speaker 1: I will be a vessel. I would try to change
- 44:09Speaker 1: the world by by letting them know that it's fear
- 44:13Speaker 1: of faith. Which side are you gonna walk on? Because
- 44:18Speaker 1: I know I wasn't meant to go this early. I
- 44:20Speaker 1: know and if if I do everything and I go,
- 44:23Speaker 1: it was my time. But but if you keep me alive,
- 44:28Speaker 1: I know I got a journey. I know I have
- 44:29Speaker 1: a call in that's bigger than I could ever imagine.
- 44:32Speaker 1: And that's when I'm walking in now. Well, you know
- 44:35Speaker 1: we're not sharing my story cancer because we all know
- 44:40Speaker 1: it can come back. And when when my staff came
- 44:42Speaker 1: to me and they were talking about your book, The
- 44:44Speaker 1: unstopp a Warrior Woman, when when I started reading the
- 44:47Speaker 1: highlights and said, Okay, she's a survivor. See I try
- 44:50Speaker 1: to when I try to bring on money making conversations,
- 44:52Speaker 1: it's real stories because a lot of people have a
- 44:54Speaker 1: lot of hype. You know, they how you can be successful.
- 44:57Speaker 1: These are the steps, but they're not really successful. You
- 45:00Speaker 1: can make money, but they really don't have any money.
- 45:02Speaker 1: But when you're a survivor of cancer and still going
- 45:05Speaker 1: through life every day like it's a normal day, because
- 45:08Speaker 1: it's not a normal day for me, because it can
- 45:10Speaker 1: change or not. I have to take pills. I have
- 45:13Speaker 1: to you know where I have to have six months,
- 45:15Speaker 1: I have to go in for checkups, and that it
- 45:18Speaker 1: could change in the checkup. Okay, I cannot stop taking those. Peoples,
- 45:22Speaker 1: I had thorod cancer, so I have to take thyroid
- 45:24Speaker 1: pills and and I can keep lobra pressure pills, all
- 45:26Speaker 1: these things, Vitamin D. When when COVID hit, you know,
- 45:29Speaker 1: I was one of those candidates that they talk about.
- 45:32Speaker 1: You know, have a presisting conditions that can be really
- 45:35Speaker 1: highly effective if you get if you contract COVID. How
- 45:38Speaker 1: did you deal with the whole COVID in relationship to
- 45:41Speaker 1: your health situation? You know that's a good point because
- 45:45Speaker 1: you're right, COVID hit and we are, you know, pre
- 45:48Speaker 1: existing issues that you know unfortunately, I know someone who
- 45:52Speaker 1: unfortunately didn't make it, who was the survivor. I mean me,
- 45:56Speaker 1: let me tell you. We're saying I have a regiment.
- 45:58Speaker 1: I do a green powder every morning. I do Vitamin D,
- 46:02Speaker 1: Vitamin C, chlorophills fairly and visual well. I mean, like
- 46:06Speaker 1: you tell me, I do infrared saunas, exercise. I mean
- 46:10Speaker 1: this is my life, you know, like I take my
- 46:14Speaker 1: health seriously. I may have some gummy bears here and
- 46:18Speaker 1: near more than enough, you know it is not good.
- 46:21Speaker 1: I may have a Snickers bar, but I mean I
- 46:24Speaker 1: really do take my health very seriously. So when COVID hit, boom,
- 46:28Speaker 1: Vitamin D load up, Vitamin C load up. Uh, get
- 46:32Speaker 1: y'all load up a regular oil load up. I load
- 46:35Speaker 1: up and you have to load up to load up.
- 46:37Speaker 1: Take it seriously. And you know I wear my mask,
- 46:41Speaker 1: I social distance. I take this seriously. You know. I
- 46:45Speaker 1: know some are like, oh yeah, it's a hoax or
- 46:47Speaker 1: it's not that serious. But let me tell you, people
- 46:49Speaker 1: are dying, and I know some who have died, like
- 46:53Speaker 1: I personally know that. So this is not a joke,
- 46:57Speaker 1: a hoax. This isn't a Republican thing or Democrat. This
- 47:00Speaker 1: is a real thing, a virus thing. Doesn't matter what
- 47:03Speaker 1: side you said, it really is. And that's why I
- 47:06Speaker 1: wanted to bring that up because and talking about different conversations.
- 47:09Speaker 1: It's my phone excuse. Is that my fault? What else
- 47:16Speaker 1: of that? I apologize for? Sean? No, don't worry baby,
- 47:22Speaker 1: where that you got a sharp suit on? So I apologize. Um,
- 47:32Speaker 1: you know I wanted to talk about we edited that out.
- 47:34Speaker 1: The worry about the thing about when I when let's
- 47:38Speaker 1: talk about the book. Now, you know, the unstoppable warrior woman.
- 47:42Speaker 1: Like I told you before we got on air. Two
- 47:44Speaker 1: of the people that you went to, you know, your
- 47:47Speaker 1: story led to stories because it's important. And now you're
- 47:50Speaker 1: you're you're two times yep, two times, you know, stage
- 47:54Speaker 1: four cancer survivor. Like I told him earlier, I don't know,
- 47:57Speaker 1: it could come back on me. That's the fear of answer.
- 48:00Speaker 1: You know, you can never walk out of the room
- 48:01Speaker 1: and say it won't come back. But you have to
- 48:03Speaker 1: do your due deal and just to stop it from
- 48:05Speaker 1: coming back, you have to live a healthy life. You
- 48:08Speaker 1: have to realize that you can't feel sorry for yourself.
- 48:10Speaker 1: I totally agree with you. This is how address you
- 48:13Speaker 1: know people. I wear this as a as a reminder
- 48:16Speaker 1: when when I'm doing TV shows. If anybody ever asked
- 48:19Speaker 1: me brashan, they said why you are that? I said,
- 48:21Speaker 1: because I'm a cancer survivor. That allows me to but
- 48:24Speaker 1: it then closer, let me see it right, you know,
- 48:27Speaker 1: it allows me to go in and tell them comfortably
- 48:29Speaker 1: a conversation about who I am because a lot of
- 48:32Speaker 1: people see a cancer or cancer victim or cancer survivor
- 48:36Speaker 1: look in a certain way, acting a certain way, walk
- 48:39Speaker 1: in a certain way, talking to a certain way. And
- 48:41Speaker 1: that's why I was important for me to bring you
- 48:42Speaker 1: on the show, because I wanted to show you know, yes,
- 48:45Speaker 1: you walk around with this fear. We actually walk around
- 48:48Speaker 1: with this this incredible uh negative thing that can happen
- 48:51Speaker 1: and stop your life in a heartbeat. But you can't
- 48:54Speaker 1: stop living your life. You can't stop looking like taking
- 48:56Speaker 1: control your life. People come around. You have to enable
- 48:59Speaker 1: them with happiness, having enabled them with motivation. And that's
- 49:02Speaker 1: what you're doing. And that's what the book that you wrote,
- 49:05Speaker 1: the Unstoppable Word Woman, that's how I led it to
- 49:07Speaker 1: all these other interviews, tell us about it. You know,
- 49:11Speaker 1: I realized that Huffington posted an article. I mean, Sam
- 49:15Speaker 1: Brashawn is unstoppable and everything she does, she's unstoppable, you know,
- 49:20Speaker 1: because I guess I remember being uh, Tom Joiner and
- 49:24Speaker 1: he said something. He said, it's so interesting that here
- 49:27Speaker 1: you are dealing in the missive stage for going to treatment,
- 49:31Speaker 1: and you're out there motivating people. Most people would be
- 49:34Speaker 1: depressed at home, don't want to talk about it, just
- 49:38Speaker 1: like let it overpass them, don't even don't even like
- 49:41Speaker 1: listen to them. They don't want to speak about it.
- 49:43Speaker 1: But here you are speaking about it, telling people that
- 49:46Speaker 1: they can still thrive, telling people don't live in fear.
- 49:49Speaker 1: He said, It's amazing. And when I realized I was unstoppable.
- 49:54Speaker 1: There are so many other people with a story, unstoppable
- 49:58Speaker 1: to so many other women because as you know, I mean,
- 50:01Speaker 1: these movements are coming me too, but it's the woman
- 50:04Speaker 1: that's coming out now. It's time for us to shine.
- 50:07Speaker 1: I played small for so long. I never realized my
- 50:11Speaker 1: business could have thrived like this. I never knew realized
- 50:14Speaker 1: that I would be an expert and on television as
- 50:18Speaker 1: an expert, a business coach your career. You know I
- 50:21Speaker 1: not a leadership coach. I never realized that We'll be
- 50:24Speaker 1: right back with more from Marchia McDonald and money making conversations.
- 50:28Speaker 1: Don't touch that down. Cars today are like a computer

- 52:01Speaker 1: there was always one chapter that really hit home with
- 52:04Speaker 1: him in all these books. Of all those, of all
- 52:06Speaker 1: your chapters, which one resonated the most with you? You You know,
- 52:10Speaker 1: I like unstoppable happiness because we like to put our
- 52:14Speaker 1: happiness on other people. We like to say, well, um,
- 52:18Speaker 1: you know, it's because of my husband, I'm not there.
- 52:20Speaker 1: It's because of my partner, I'm not there. It's because
- 52:23Speaker 1: like stop putting your happiness on someone and find happiness
- 52:27Speaker 1: within yourself. You are the prize. When we start to
- 52:30Speaker 1: realize we're the prize, we are the superstars. You don't
- 52:34Speaker 1: have to search for anyone. You don't. You have everything
- 52:38Speaker 1: you need to be unstoppable. We just don't step into it.
- 52:42Speaker 1: And the book is forty women sharing forty stories of hope,
- 52:46Speaker 1: of challenges, of triumph, of of mistakes, of fear, of doubt,
- 52:51Speaker 1: of hardcore stories of rape, of perpies. I mean, it's
- 52:55Speaker 1: a lot of stories in the of a lot of things.
- 52:58Speaker 1: But it's true. That's what this that's what the book is.
- 53:01Speaker 1: A story of truth that leads to hope. Well, the
- 53:04Speaker 1: thing about it, that's what that's what impacted me. You
- 53:07Speaker 1: know this is I'm a male, but I was impacted
- 53:09Speaker 1: by their truth. Now, how do you you know you're
- 53:12Speaker 1: motivatorm you have relationships? How did you contact the individuals
- 53:15Speaker 1: and did you shape their stories? Or you just tell
- 53:18Speaker 1: them send me your thoughts? How did they How did
- 53:20Speaker 1: the stories get into the book? Oh so good point.
- 53:22Speaker 1: I mean they sit stories and I helped shape it
- 53:25Speaker 1: because every I mean, you know, everyone's not a writer.
- 53:28Speaker 1: Everyone doesn't know how to put it. But but I
- 53:30Speaker 1: wanted to shape the stories. I shaped the stories around
- 53:33Speaker 1: the like sometimes you have to pull out things from
- 53:36Speaker 1: people because people don't even think they're unstoppable. People think
- 53:39Speaker 1: their story is small, so I had to pull it out.
- 53:41Speaker 1: But in the stories, everybody's stories had greatness in them.
- 53:45Speaker 1: Every well, you didn't have one, right, And then the
- 53:46Speaker 1: journalists who went from New York to Africa and came back.
- 53:49Speaker 1: She was the journalists. They probably had the longest section
- 53:52Speaker 1: in your book as well. Yes, yes you know, yes, yes, yes,
- 53:57Speaker 1: that was a good one. So everyone's story, I I
- 54:00Speaker 1: told everyone. Everyone just had their own story. Everyone had
- 54:03Speaker 1: their own story, Everyone had their own jority and and
- 54:06Speaker 1: that's life. Everyone has their own journey. When you saw
- 54:09Speaker 1: Summer longer, but that is life. I really liked her story.
- 54:13Speaker 1: I liked all of the story from a standpoint of
- 54:15Speaker 1: they gave nuggets of inspiration and also overcoming either a
- 54:19Speaker 1: physical or beautiful young young lady got shot, bully experiences,
- 54:23Speaker 1: you know, abuse, physical and mental abuse experiences going out there.
- 54:28Speaker 1: But the one message that came out more and more,
- 54:31Speaker 1: it's like it's about you stop stop lending your gifts
- 54:36Speaker 1: to somebody that doesn't appreciate it. Stop motivating other people
- 54:39Speaker 1: who don't want your motivation. That was a message that
- 54:42Speaker 1: keeps screaming out through each page that I turned in
- 54:45Speaker 1: your book. Tell us about that, Rashan. You know, I
- 54:48Speaker 1: think what I try to get out of each story is,
- 54:54Speaker 1: like you said, Rashan, it's about you. Stop giving your
- 54:58Speaker 1: gifts away, stop giving your purpose away, stop giving stop
- 55:01Speaker 1: playing small, stop being mediocre. Every story I wanted you
- 55:05Speaker 1: to say, Wow, this is a nugget. Wow, this is
- 55:08Speaker 1: a nugget, right like you said. I mean, it's rape,
- 55:11Speaker 1: is bullying, it's somebody who lost a hundred and fifty pounds,
- 55:14Speaker 1: it's a cancer survivor. It's someone who tried to play small.
- 55:18Speaker 1: It's all of these. It's a journalist, it's someone who
- 55:21Speaker 1: found their their their life. It's some I mean, I
- 55:24Speaker 1: wanted everything. I wanted, stories of hardship, challenges, mistakes, but
- 55:30Speaker 1: in the end, hope they made it to the other side.
- 55:33Speaker 1: Because if you fall down and you can look up,
- 55:35Speaker 1: you can get up. Well, let's talk about the four
- 55:37Speaker 1: steps to mindset freedom. You know this is uh. I
- 55:40Speaker 1: won't tell anybody we're part of the book, but it's
- 55:42Speaker 1: a part of the book that that moved me. And
- 55:45Speaker 1: there's a lot of the advice that I followed, and
- 55:47Speaker 1: I felt that when I read this, I go home
- 55:50Speaker 1: run because we're on the same page. Because I'm gonna
- 55:53Speaker 1: tell everybody this. There's certain things you have to do
- 55:56Speaker 1: to be successful. You have to be consistent about it.
- 55:58Speaker 1: There's a certain tone people aren't successful. They may be temporary,
- 56:02Speaker 1: they might win the lottery, but eventually they might be
- 56:04Speaker 1: the person who loses the money in debt because they
- 56:07Speaker 1: get lazier to their approach and life. And there are
- 56:09Speaker 1: certain principles about being successful. And when you start talking
- 56:12Speaker 1: about the four steps the mindset that's in your book
- 56:14Speaker 1: for Sean, let's talk about change your viewpoint. That was
- 56:18Speaker 1: very important because I reason I say that because the
- 56:21Speaker 1: journalists that went from Africa from New York to Africa.
- 56:24Speaker 1: Who is afraid to go to u c l A
- 56:27Speaker 1: because it was too far away, but then she moved
- 56:28Speaker 1: to Africa. That's changing your viewpoint. And I and I
- 56:32Speaker 1: only just using an example that when you talk about
- 56:34Speaker 1: change your viewpoint, because I was the person who for
- 56:37Speaker 1: some reason New York to U c l A, which
- 56:39Speaker 1: is in Los Angeles, too far away, but New York
- 56:41Speaker 1: to Africa. Years later she was cool with it. You know,
- 56:46Speaker 1: I think we we we get so stuck with our mindset.
- 56:50Speaker 1: So change your viewpoint is be open for change, be
- 56:53Speaker 1: open to change, and board change. Life begins at the
- 56:56Speaker 1: end of your comfort zone. If you want to stay
- 56:59Speaker 1: the way you are, you will always be the way
- 57:01Speaker 1: you are. If you want greatness, greatness is on the
- 57:04Speaker 1: other side of that field. But a lot of times
- 57:07Speaker 1: we're too afraid to go there because it's too hard,
- 57:10Speaker 1: it's too far. We don't know what's gonna be there,
- 57:12Speaker 1: we don't know how it's gonna be, and we stay stuffed. Right,
- 57:15Speaker 1: if you want greatness, you gotta change your viewpoint and
- 57:18Speaker 1: change your mindset and go for it. Absolutely can't be
- 57:20Speaker 1: afraid of they unknown and unknown is happens every day.
- 57:26Speaker 1: You have any life insurance, you all the insurance, your
- 57:28Speaker 1: homeowners insure because it prepares you for the unknown. And
- 57:31Speaker 1: that's what life is about. So if you're going out
- 57:33Speaker 1: there worried about change, it, I might not I might
- 57:36Speaker 1: not be seeing usful. I don't know that you might
- 57:38Speaker 1: get an all the wheel accident. That's the part of
- 57:40Speaker 1: our insurance exists. Stop running away from your past. Oh
- 57:45Speaker 1: that's a good one, right, come on, come on now,
- 57:48Speaker 1: come on, trying to go away from your past. See,
- 57:50Speaker 1: your past makes you who you are. And if my
- 57:53Speaker 1: father always said, don't run away from your past, embrace it.
- 57:56Speaker 1: I was poor. I grew up in a two bedroom
- 57:59Speaker 1: house with eight kids, living in a two bedroom house,
- 58:03Speaker 1: and we slept where we can sleep. We made it happen.
- 58:06Speaker 1: My past made me who I am, strong strength. You see,
- 58:09Speaker 1: people are embarrassed about their past. I remember coaching a woman.
- 58:13Speaker 1: She had made up this lie about she went to
- 58:16Speaker 1: Yale Um. She had made up this whole story. She
- 58:19Speaker 1: really did go to Yale, but she made up the
- 58:20Speaker 1: story that they were lived in Boca, that they had
- 58:23Speaker 1: this that was there. There was their country, that was
- 58:25Speaker 1: their summer house and winter house. And she she really
- 58:29Speaker 1: was from the projects of New York. She didn't want
- 58:32Speaker 1: to tell anyone to embarrassed. But let me tell you,
- 58:34Speaker 1: your story is who you are now. She tells her story,
- 58:37Speaker 1: so I can now tell her story. But now, like
- 58:40Speaker 1: your past, don't run away from it. Embrace it. It's beautiful.
- 58:43Speaker 1: It is your fingerprint and your footprint, that's what God
- 58:46Speaker 1: made you from your past from your story. Speaker girl,
- 58:52Speaker 1: she's speaking to truth. Stop blaming and start forgiving. That
- 58:56Speaker 1: is a problem a lot of people have. It ruins relationships,
- 59:00Speaker 1: It rules family dynamics. It can ruin business relationship because
- 59:04Speaker 1: you blame someone else. And I always tell people it's
- 59:06Speaker 1: a two way street in that blame. It is so true. See,
- 59:10Speaker 1: we love the blame because every time you point the
- 59:13Speaker 1: finger at someone, three fingers are pointing back at you.
- 59:18Speaker 1: I need to say that again. Yes, every time you
- 59:21Speaker 1: point the finger, three fingers are pointing back at you.
- 59:25Speaker 1: It's because blaming is easy. Taking responsibility is hard. It's
- 59:31Speaker 1: hard to say I failed, I messed up. Yeah I
- 59:34Speaker 1: was wrong, I did it wrong. That's hard because we
- 59:36Speaker 1: want to be right, we want to be perfect. We
- 59:39Speaker 1: want to say nothing's wrong, No, you were, you messed up.
- 59:42Speaker 1: Take responsibility. Let me tell you, I take responsibility way
- 59:46Speaker 1: more time than I blame because it's always too. It's
- 59:50Speaker 1: always two in that show, not one. It's two in
- 59:53Speaker 1: the marriage, not one. It's two in a friendship not one.
- 59:56Speaker 1: It's too in a partnership, not one. And the last
- 59:59Speaker 1: one is letting go. And that's so that's a good one.
- 1:00:02Speaker 1: Letting go, Well, that's a good one because we all,
- 1:00:05Speaker 1: I don't care who you are, we all have the
- 1:00:07Speaker 1: experience of holding onto a grudge, holding onto a mistake.
- 1:00:11Speaker 1: And letting go is a really powerful term because it
- 1:00:14Speaker 1: doesn't have to be necessarily letting goals on the relationship.
- 1:00:18Speaker 1: It could be something that you've done and you have
- 1:00:20Speaker 1: not forgiven yourself for that. Talk about your version of
- 1:00:23Speaker 1: it for Sean. You know, letting go as hard because comfortable.
- 1:00:29Speaker 1: We love to be comfortable. We love to have what
- 1:00:32Speaker 1: we have. You know, it's so funny, something easy like this.
- 1:00:35Speaker 1: I tell my clients go to work. You know, if
- 1:00:37Speaker 1: you drive the work thirty minutes, you go the same way,
- 1:00:40Speaker 1: go a different way, go through your streets. No, I
- 1:00:42Speaker 1: don't want to go through the streets. No, take this
- 1:00:45Speaker 1: right and go No, no, no, it won't work. It'll
- 1:00:47Speaker 1: get me there. See if they don't let go because
- 1:00:49Speaker 1: I want to do it the way I want to
- 1:00:51Speaker 1: do it. I want to do it how I want
- 1:00:53Speaker 1: to do it, the way I want to do it.
- 1:00:54Speaker 1: People let that mess them up. In relationships and marriages
- 1:00:58Speaker 1: and friendships, you don't let go of the things like
- 1:01:02Speaker 1: try something new, you know, let go of that negative thinking,
- 1:01:08Speaker 1: let go of trying to be right. Let go you
- 1:01:11Speaker 1: are going, We're gonna have a long time relationship. I'm
- 1:01:13Speaker 1: gonna just tell you that ten years, fifteen years, be
- 1:01:18Speaker 1: like your dad eighty five. You know, I'm just gonna
- 1:01:21Speaker 1: be looking for the old women. The thing about it
- 1:01:26Speaker 1: is that because everything you're saying is the truth in life.
- 1:01:28Speaker 1: You know, sometimes I go home, I go a different
- 1:01:30Speaker 1: way just to see what life is down there, still
- 1:01:33Speaker 1: being careful, still not be an adventurous, just seeing a
- 1:01:36Speaker 1: different treat, seeing a different street, like passing the different
- 1:01:40Speaker 1: gas station. Because from a creative standpoint, you got to
- 1:01:43Speaker 1: be able to look at life differently. So that allows
- 1:01:45Speaker 1: you to come home with a different attitude, come home
- 1:01:47Speaker 1: with not that same I saw it again, the same routine,
- 1:01:51Speaker 1: get off the fruy on that same exit, coming down
- 1:01:54Speaker 1: that same back road. I do it a lot, I
- 1:01:56Speaker 1: really do. So when you when you talk like that,
- 1:01:58Speaker 1: I go, wow, she is so dead on. Because out
- 1:02:01Speaker 1: of habit, I do these things. But I want to
- 1:02:03Speaker 1: before we wrap up, I want to this a great conversation.
- 1:02:05Speaker 1: Thank you for coming on the show. The Unstoppable Warrior
- 1:02:09Speaker 1: Warmant released October twenty seven is available in bookstores now.
- 1:02:13Speaker 1: But she's tapping into an area this app that she's dropped,
- 1:02:16Speaker 1: mental health, mental health in the black community of the the
- 1:02:18Speaker 1: African American community. It's kind of like the Kurts. We
- 1:02:22Speaker 1: don't want to admit, we don't twoot things, we don't
- 1:02:24Speaker 1: want to met We don't want to met homosexuality in
- 1:02:27Speaker 1: the black community, and we definitely don't want to make
- 1:02:29Speaker 1: mental health issues in the black community. Talk about the
- 1:02:32Speaker 1: importance of this new app that you're dropping in twenty
- 1:02:35Speaker 1: we're shying yourself right. Look, you need to be a
- 1:02:37Speaker 1: coach on there. You know, we have coaches speakers on
- 1:02:39Speaker 1: I Love your energy. So we're gonna talk offline about that.
- 1:02:42Speaker 1: We're launching it. Rids. We gotta stay together, girl, we
- 1:02:49Speaker 1: got that shot. Yeah, you know, you know right now
- 1:02:53Speaker 1: I'm launching it's called You Are a Warrior. You Are
- 1:02:56Speaker 1: a Warrior W A R R I O R. They
- 1:02:59Speaker 1: can sign up, Uh, they can sign up now. Um,
- 1:03:01Speaker 1: it'll be coming soon. They get they get perks if
- 1:03:04Speaker 1: they sign up. Now. You know, it's something people are
- 1:03:07Speaker 1: tired of Facebook. They call it fakebook and inst the
- 1:03:10Speaker 1: fame right, you know, it's negative, it's always putting something
- 1:03:15Speaker 1: out that's not positive. I want somewhere where people can
- 1:03:18Speaker 1: express themselves about depression, anxiety and stress, where we can
- 1:03:22Speaker 1: really talk to others and we can use avatars if
- 1:03:25Speaker 1: we don't want to share who we are, or we
- 1:03:28Speaker 1: can be ourselves. But it's time to get the help
- 1:03:31Speaker 1: we need. People are committing suicide. Open yards are up
- 1:03:34Speaker 1: like no other bodies. Business medications are up. Um, people
- 1:03:39Speaker 1: are depressed in slumps. I just saw Sam Smith say
- 1:03:42Speaker 1: he was like, I've never been so depressed in my life. Um.
- 1:03:46Speaker 1: You know, staying inside, people feel closed in, not socializing.
- 1:03:49Speaker 1: People are and this is really bringing out this side
- 1:03:52Speaker 1: of people. It's really bringing this out. People want to
- 1:03:56Speaker 1: an outlet, and that's what I'm going to give them.
- 1:03:57Speaker 1: An outlet. You know, it's a place where it's a
- 1:03:59Speaker 1: man to health app. You can express yourself the first thing,
- 1:04:02Speaker 1: sharing your story. We have quizzes on it, we have challenges,
- 1:04:06Speaker 1: we have chat rooms, or you can talk to an
- 1:04:08Speaker 1: expert that has four pillars motivation, personal development, self improvement,
- 1:04:13Speaker 1: and speaking to an expert. I want to be there
- 1:04:16Speaker 1: to help and and really talk about real stuff instead
- 1:04:19Speaker 1: of you know, we can listen to music. All day.
- 1:04:21Speaker 1: We can dance all day, we can talk about TikTok
- 1:04:23Speaker 1: all day, but deep inside we're crying. When Elon Musk
- 1:04:27Speaker 1: says that I'm lonely, I need someone to talk to
- 1:04:30Speaker 1: one of the wealthiest men in the world, in the
- 1:04:33Speaker 1: world saying I feel alone right well, you know, and
- 1:04:37Speaker 1: and and that absolutely I think that successful people say
- 1:04:41Speaker 1: that because who you talk to, and sometimes when you
- 1:04:43Speaker 1: are successful, you can't show weaknesses and and you and
- 1:04:47Speaker 1: that's a part of mental health. That's the challenge of
- 1:04:50Speaker 1: allowing yourself to share weakness and who you show that
- 1:04:52Speaker 1: weakness too, so you won't be backstad or you won't
- 1:04:55Speaker 1: be undermined because you're showing these signs of weaknesses. But
- 1:04:58Speaker 1: that's all part of the mental health campaign that you're
- 1:05:00Speaker 1: trying to bring to the food front. And the reason
- 1:05:02Speaker 1: I'm talking about that for Shaun is that the black community,
- 1:05:05Speaker 1: if we don't start accepting therapy as as being all right,
- 1:05:10Speaker 1: I going to see a therapist or going to see
- 1:05:12Speaker 1: a psychiatrist's fine to deal with some some issues that
- 1:05:16Speaker 1: you might have when you were growing up, or you
- 1:05:18Speaker 1: might have in a relationship issues And instead of just
- 1:05:21Speaker 1: going from one person to the next person. Basically destroy
- 1:05:24Speaker 1: a good man or a woman along the way because
- 1:05:26Speaker 1: you don't want to deal with your emotional or mental issues.
- 1:05:30Speaker 1: These are important. That's why I wanted to make sure
- 1:05:32Speaker 1: that we talked about it. Tell people again about your
- 1:05:35Speaker 1: Warrior of the app before we wrap up. Okay, yeah,
- 1:05:38Speaker 1: so you are a Warrior of the letter. You are
- 1:05:41Speaker 1: a W A R R I O R dot com.
- 1:05:44Speaker 1: You can go and sign up. Please go and sign up.
- 1:05:46Speaker 1: You get perks. The first We're giving a thousand people
- 1:05:49Speaker 1: all kind of gifts and inspirational books and newsletters and perks.
- 1:05:52Speaker 1: So please join it. But it's a it's a mental
- 1:05:55Speaker 1: health app that deals with depression, anxiety, and strength. And
- 1:05:58Speaker 1: we have four pillars that helps you motivation, self improvement,
- 1:06:02Speaker 1: personal development, and support. We have coaches to help coach
- 1:06:06Speaker 1: you chat rooms. You can be in a guided chat
- 1:06:09Speaker 1: room with a coach, or you can be alone just listening.
- 1:06:12Speaker 1: We have a place where you can get meditation, um,
- 1:06:15Speaker 1: you can do yoga, you can listen to videos, just
- 1:06:17Speaker 1: whatever you need every day of the week. And we
- 1:06:20Speaker 1: have a Warrior Wall express yourself. It's time that we
- 1:06:23Speaker 1: start really in the black community speaking up and standing
- 1:06:27Speaker 1: up I want this app to reach every black, seleab,
- 1:06:31Speaker 1: middle class person, underprivileged person. I wanted to reach everyone
- 1:06:36Speaker 1: to help them. It's my mission to give back because
- 1:06:39Speaker 1: it's time. It's time for us to stop lying. It's
- 1:06:42Speaker 1: time for us to stop acting like we're okay. Like
- 1:06:44Speaker 1: you said, stop perpetrating, Stop acting like we have everything
- 1:06:47Speaker 1: in the bank, we're rich. Look at all this money
- 1:06:49Speaker 1: on Instagram and then you can't pay your bills. Look
- 1:06:52Speaker 1: at all this and you can't read it right. Look
- 1:06:54Speaker 1: at all this and you lost your home. Stop it.
- 1:06:56Speaker 1: Stop with the nonsense and the lines. It's time to
- 1:06:58Speaker 1: stand up and speak up. And that's what you are.
- 1:07:00Speaker 1: Warrior is about. Sean with you, Me and you, We're
- 1:07:03Speaker 1: gonna make this app. I'm telling on Mondays. I do
- 1:07:06Speaker 1: motivational cards. I get people who are changing the world.
- 1:07:10Speaker 1: And I'm gonna make a motivational card for you to
- 1:07:14Speaker 1: promote your book, to promote your brand. And it's gonna
- 1:07:17Speaker 1: talk about being a two time svant, survival, wicked, every
- 1:07:20Speaker 1: day living life. Not by what's happened to you, but
- 1:07:24Speaker 1: what could happen to you. And you are an inspirational
- 1:07:27Speaker 1: You truly are a warrior. I'm gonna promote your book.
- 1:07:30Speaker 1: I'm gonna promote your app again. You're in my life
- 1:07:33Speaker 1: for the next thirty years. And tell Pops he my man,
- 1:07:38Speaker 1: because I'm gonna be that way. Two. Okay, Yes, I
- 1:07:41Speaker 1: thank you, Raean. What a great interview. Love your spirit,
- 1:07:45Speaker 1: love your inspiration. We're gonna stay in tight absolutely. My
- 1:07:48Speaker 1: next cass is one I write it on the show
- 1:07:49Speaker 1: because she supported me. She's leading my brand and when
- 1:07:53Speaker 1: you start a new brand, you need relationships and she's
- 1:07:56Speaker 1: always been one that has shown a strong light in
- 1:07:59Speaker 1: the direction of support of what I'm trying to do
- 1:08:01Speaker 1: with money making conversation. Her name is Sheila Bell. Sheila Bell.
- 1:08:05Speaker 1: The Bell has worked in the field of broadcast news

- 1:08:52Speaker 1: she got her game on for me today. The media journalist, producer,
- 1:08:57Speaker 1: and inspirational speaker, Sheila Bill, thank you so much. I'm
- 1:09:02Speaker 1: so excited to be here, so excited to be with you,
- 1:09:05Speaker 1: and thank you so much for that great introduction. I
- 1:09:08Speaker 1: felt I felt special for you, are you know, because
- 1:09:10Speaker 1: you know the thing about it when people come on
- 1:09:12Speaker 1: my show many years, Steve, Steve Harvey uh used to
- 1:09:16Speaker 1: always when I stopped doing stand up comedy, Steve said, man,
- 1:09:19Speaker 1: can you lease introduce me? Can you just come into
- 1:09:21Speaker 1: my show to just introduce me? And because he just
- 1:09:25Speaker 1: knew that, I knew you always got to set the
- 1:09:28Speaker 1: stage and everybody has value. And sometimes it's not enough
- 1:09:31Speaker 1: for me to say you're just the you know, the
- 1:09:34Speaker 1: the founder, the creative the Bell Report. Let's talk a
- 1:09:36Speaker 1: little history. Let's talk a little because when people hear
- 1:09:39Speaker 1: these intros, you're you guys. You are a legacy maker.
- 1:09:43Speaker 1: You know you are a groundbreaker, you are a visionary.
- 1:09:46Speaker 1: And that's why I have to put it out like that.
- 1:09:47Speaker 1: I can't just say you know your name and just say, well,
- 1:09:51Speaker 1: here's the question that you sent over me to ask.
- 1:09:53Speaker 1: I do additional research, and so the Bell Report is
- 1:09:56Speaker 1: something that's important to my brand. And that's why I
- 1:09:58Speaker 1: had to invite you on my show. I say, I
- 1:10:00Speaker 1: see it because somebody gets Sheelo on my show, because
- 1:10:02Speaker 1: somebody get on my show. We're reaching out, what please
- 1:10:07Speaker 1: get on my show? And because you support my brand?
- 1:10:10Speaker 1: And so why do you feel it's important to support
- 1:10:12Speaker 1: my brand of money making conversations, sticky notes, email alerts,
- 1:10:17Speaker 1: a string around your finger, they're just not big enough.
- 1:10:21Speaker 1: So here's a big reminder from the California Lottery. Tomorrow's
- 1:10:23Speaker 1: making millions jack potties? Which million play? Now? Please play responsible?
- 1:10:27Speaker 1: You must be eighteen years older to purchase player plan.
- 1:10:30Speaker 1: And we're live here outside the Perez family home, just
- 1:10:34Speaker 1: waiting for the and there they go, almost on time.
- 1:10:37Speaker 1: This morning. Mom is coming out the front door strong
- 1:10:40Speaker 1: with a double arm. Kid carry. Looks like dad has
- 1:10:42Speaker 1: the bags, daughter is bringing up the rear. Oh but
- 1:10:46Speaker 1: the diaper bag wasn't closed. Diapers and toys are everywhere.
- 1:10:51Speaker 1: Oh but mom has just nailed the perfect car seat
- 1:10:54Speaker 1: buckle for the toddler. And now the eldest daughter, who
- 1:10:57Speaker 1: looks to be about nine or ten, has secured herself
- 1:11:00Speaker 1: in the booster seat. Dead SIPs of bad clothes and
- 1:11:03Speaker 1: they're off. But looks like mom doesn't realize her coffee
- 1:11:07Speaker 1: cup is still on the roof of the car, and
- 1:11:10Speaker 1: there it goes. Oh, that's a shame. That mug was
- 1:11:13Speaker 1: a fam favorite. Don't sweat the small stuff, just nail
- 1:11:17Speaker 1: the big stuff, like making sure your kids are buckled

- 1:11:28Speaker 1: Brought to you by NITZA and the ad Council. What
- 1:11:31Speaker 1: grows in the forest trees? Sure you know what else
- 1:11:35Speaker 1: grows in the forest Our imagination, our sense of wonder,
- 1:11:39Speaker 1: and our family bonds grow too, because when we disconnect
- 1:11:42Speaker 1: from this and connect with this, we reconnect with each other.
- 1:11:49Speaker 1: The forest is closer than you think, find a forest
- 1:11:52Speaker 1: near you and start exploring. I Discover the Forest dot Org,
- 1:11:56Speaker 1: brought to you by the United States Forest Service and
- 1:11:59Speaker 1: the AD Council. Well, I'm I'm thinking about all the
- 1:12:02Speaker 1: different people that you're talking to, the different lives that
- 1:12:05Speaker 1: are out there, and it's so much that's going on
- 1:12:07Speaker 1: right now. No one lives the same life. No one
- 1:12:10Speaker 1: thinks the same way. No one processes information the same way.
- 1:12:13Speaker 1: So when you're reaching out to different people on different
- 1:12:15Speaker 1: platforms and different arenas and different cities and different states,
- 1:12:19Speaker 1: looking at politics and people, and even when you ask
- 1:12:22Speaker 1: them what is your understanding and belief of God, everyone
- 1:12:25Speaker 1: has a different story to tell. Everyone's gonna view something differently.
- 1:12:29Speaker 1: No one processes information the same way. So when you're
- 1:12:32Speaker 1: talking to me or Jesse Jackson or Michael Eric Dyson
- 1:12:37Speaker 1: or Oprah Winfree, no one's gonna be looking at life
- 1:12:40Speaker 1: the same way because no one has gone through life
- 1:12:42Speaker 1: the same. Everyone has had different experiences up, down, good, bad.
- 1:12:47Speaker 1: Some people have money, some people don't. Some people are
- 1:12:49Speaker 1: challenge some people are not. And then sometimes when you
- 1:12:51Speaker 1: look at you are approached with the door and then
- 1:12:54Speaker 1: the door closes in your face. What do you do.
- 1:12:57Speaker 1: Do you sit back and do you complain or do
- 1:12:58Speaker 1: you realize that God allowed that door to close, knowing
- 1:13:02Speaker 1: that you are the fighter, and the fighter that's within
- 1:13:05Speaker 1: you needs to come out of you. And when it
- 1:13:07Speaker 1: comes out of you, you're gonna push harder, and then
- 1:13:10Speaker 1: you're gonna realize some things that you didn't realize before.
- 1:13:12Speaker 1: You're gonna learn some things about yourself that you didn't
- 1:13:15Speaker 1: know before, and you're gonna see that you're stronger than
- 1:13:18Speaker 1: you actually thought that you were. So when I look
- 1:13:20Speaker 1: at all the different people that you have interviewed, when
- 1:13:23Speaker 1: I think about all the time so that I've seen
- 1:13:25Speaker 1: you and the different people that you have decided to interview,
- 1:13:29Speaker 1: when it comes across my desk, and as an option
- 1:13:32Speaker 1: to put into the Bell Report, I put it in
- 1:13:33Speaker 1: the Bell Report with pride because I know that you
- 1:13:36Speaker 1: are not about buffoonery, You're not about foolishness. But you
- 1:13:40Speaker 1: want to make sure that not only the people that
- 1:13:42Speaker 1: you're interviewing that you give them an opportunity, but you're
- 1:13:45Speaker 1: also educating people who are listening to other people when
- 1:13:49Speaker 1: they are listening to you, and when they're listening to
- 1:13:51Speaker 1: your guests, and when your guests have something to say
- 1:13:54Speaker 1: that's worth listening to. It says a lot about you.
- 1:13:57Speaker 1: It's kind of like the people who you're interviewing, we
- 1:14:00Speaker 1: become an extension of you. So you're gonna make sure
- 1:14:02Speaker 1: whoever you interview has some sense about them to take
- 1:14:06Speaker 1: up this time space. Absolutely, because you're so articulate. Let's
- 1:14:10Speaker 1: go back with one of the courses. I want to
- 1:14:12Speaker 1: talk about doing research and a stutter. You know, a
- 1:14:15Speaker 1: person who started as a young person, which led to
- 1:14:18Speaker 1: I'm sure ridicule jokes, and sometimes that leads to bullying.
- 1:14:22Speaker 1: You know, there's a lot of people think the word
- 1:14:24Speaker 1: bully is a modern term. I can know that in
- 1:14:27Speaker 1: my middle school I was bullied, bullied. In my high
- 1:14:29Speaker 1: school years, I was bullied. Just didn't understand it. I
- 1:14:32Speaker 1: just know that. I just said they picked on me, mom,
- 1:14:34Speaker 1: they're picking on me at school. That's the term I
- 1:14:36Speaker 1: used instead of the word bullying. These kids picking on me. So,
- 1:14:39Speaker 1: as a young stutterer, how did you deal with that
- 1:14:42Speaker 1: and how did you overcome it to be so articulate
- 1:14:44Speaker 1: and so mindful and so motivational today, if you're talking
- 1:14:49Speaker 1: to the the young millennials and the Gene actually would say,
- 1:14:53Speaker 1: it's a god thing. But if you want to be
- 1:14:55Speaker 1: real about it, God healed me from what I was
- 1:14:58Speaker 1: going through. I was in the first, second, and third grade,
- 1:15:01Speaker 1: and the stuttering was so bad it would take me
- 1:15:04Speaker 1: a good two or three minutes to articulate three or
- 1:15:08Speaker 1: four or five words just to say. Back in the
- 1:15:12Speaker 1: day when we were in school, sometimes the teacher would say, hey, Sheil,
- 1:15:15Speaker 1: would you go to miss harris room and give her
- 1:15:17Speaker 1: this message? The message maybe tell Miss Harris that we're
- 1:15:21Speaker 1: gonna be going outside to play to own the playground
- 1:15:24Speaker 1: at twelve o'clock. So, because they knew I stuttered, and
- 1:15:28Speaker 1: because my mom also taught in the same school that
- 1:15:32Speaker 1: we were in, they were trying to help me to
- 1:15:35Speaker 1: get out of it, to get out of that zone
- 1:15:37Speaker 1: of not feeling comfortable around people. Because even then, while
- 1:15:41Speaker 1: it was stuttering, I was also extremely shy. So by
- 1:15:44Speaker 1: the time I left the first grade and went up
- 1:15:46Speaker 1: to the second floor and I would tell Mrs Harris
- 1:15:50Speaker 1: the message. The message sort of went like this, ms
- 1:15:53Speaker 1: ms mss mss mss mss ms mss Harris, Miss miss
- 1:15:58Speaker 1: miss and it went on like that. So you're trying
- 1:16:01Speaker 1: to deliver this message. You got other kids looking at
- 1:16:04Speaker 1: you like what is the problem. And this went on,
- 1:16:07Speaker 1: and my mom tried to work with me. We will
- 1:16:10Speaker 1: read books on the front porch. She would try to
- 1:16:12Speaker 1: get me to calm down. But after the first, second
- 1:16:15Speaker 1: and third grade, third grade, I was told that I
- 1:16:18Speaker 1: was going to be going to a middle school for
- 1:16:20Speaker 1: the fourth grade. So the day that we were waiting
- 1:16:24Speaker 1: for the yellow cheese bus to come down the street
- 1:16:27Speaker 1: to pick us up to get on this bus to
- 1:16:29Speaker 1: go to Robert E. Lee Middle School, I heard this voice,
- 1:16:34Speaker 1: I'm going into the fourth grade. I heard this voice
- 1:16:37Speaker 1: that said slow down. They will hear you slow down.
- 1:16:43Speaker 1: And I remember just thinking, I'm hearing a voice. I
- 1:16:45Speaker 1: don't know where this voice is coming from, but it's
- 1:16:48Speaker 1: telling me to slow down. And something within me, maybe
- 1:16:51Speaker 1: down in my Sha Nana, that told me to slow
- 1:16:54Speaker 1: it down. And once I got that in my spirit
- 1:16:57Speaker 1: and understood, when I walked on that yellow bus, I
- 1:17:00Speaker 1: no longer started. It was just like that. It was
- 1:17:04Speaker 1: just like that a blessing. It was that. And and
- 1:17:08Speaker 1: now when you look at your life, now you're in
- 1:17:10Speaker 1: the creative side, journalistic side, media side, because that that
- 1:17:16Speaker 1: that ability to translate information is what your gift is.
- 1:17:21Speaker 1: Promote information what your gift is. Now, let's let's set
- 1:17:24Speaker 1: that in the world. We had a president who came
- 1:17:26Speaker 1: into office in and established a term called fake news.
- 1:17:31Speaker 1: As he exits, that's all he's about, is creating fake news.
- 1:17:37Speaker 1: When you review information like that, how has it impacted
- 1:17:40Speaker 1: how you report things, how you deliver information to our community.
- 1:17:44Speaker 1: What has helped me over the years to even have
- 1:17:47Speaker 1: the brand that I have today and to report the
- 1:17:50Speaker 1: news that I have today is integrity. And for years,
- 1:17:54Speaker 1: every time when I would write a story, I had
- 1:17:57Speaker 1: to learn really early that there are two sides to
- 1:18:00Speaker 1: the story. You can always write the story the way
- 1:18:02Speaker 1: that you want to write the story to favor the
- 1:18:04Speaker 1: person who you like, but you have to remember that
- 1:18:06Speaker 1: there are two sides to the story. So and being fair,
- 1:18:09Speaker 1: I've always been fair to everyone who I deal with. Integrity,
- 1:18:14Speaker 1: your name goes a long way. So even when I'm
- 1:18:17Speaker 1: on the air now, I praise one or four point
- 1:18:19Speaker 1: seven when I'm writing stories up on the Bell Report,
- 1:18:23Speaker 1: when I'm pushing stuff out on the Bell Report, Entertainment,
- 1:18:25Speaker 1: News Update, when I'm having a conversation, if I'm in
- 1:18:28Speaker 1: the pulpit, if I'm ministering, if I'm talking, if someone
- 1:18:31Speaker 1: just approaches me. It's about being true to who you
- 1:18:34Speaker 1: are so you can be true to other people. Sometimes
- 1:18:37Speaker 1: it's even about being transparent so people can know that
- 1:18:39Speaker 1: you're not trying to hide anything. So when the facts
- 1:18:42Speaker 1: do come out and when you see what is going
- 1:18:44Speaker 1: on for what it is, you just tell the truth.
- 1:18:47Speaker 1: And I'll never forget the day when Michael Jackson died.
- 1:18:51Speaker 1: I had people calling me, and it shocked me. They said, Bell,
- 1:18:56Speaker 1: we're calling you because we know if you say that
- 1:18:59Speaker 1: he I then we know that he died. Because we're
- 1:19:02Speaker 1: just not trusting the other media. We just can't. We
- 1:19:05Speaker 1: just can't believe it. And I'm thinking to myself, I'm
- 1:19:08Speaker 1: watching CNN and ms NBC and and be just like
- 1:19:11Speaker 1: everyone else trying to figure out what's going on. But
- 1:19:14Speaker 1: they were trusting me with that. But it spoke volume
- 1:19:16Speaker 1: to me, realizing that people are trusting me with information,
- 1:19:20Speaker 1: and when people trust you to tell the truth, and
- 1:19:22Speaker 1: when you think about the world that we're living and
- 1:19:24Speaker 1: now people want to have a relationship with people who
- 1:19:27Speaker 1: can tell the truth because often people will twist it.
- 1:19:31Speaker 1: Look at social media. I'm looking at how social media
- 1:19:34Speaker 1: has played mind games with people as people have gotten
- 1:19:38Speaker 1: so caught up trying to be something that they're not
- 1:19:41Speaker 1: trying to please people for a like or comment, just
- 1:19:45Speaker 1: so they can do whatever it is that they're trying
- 1:19:46Speaker 1: to do it. I'm like, be real to yourself. There's
- 1:19:49Speaker 1: too many games out here mentally, emotionally, spiritually. When do
- 1:19:53Speaker 1: you find the time to back up to find out
- 1:19:55Speaker 1: who you are and being true to yourself. If you
- 1:19:58Speaker 1: can't be true to yourself, you can't be true the
- 1:20:00Speaker 1: other people. And I really pride myself on doing the
- 1:20:03Speaker 1: best that I can to be honest and being truthful. Well,
- 1:20:06Speaker 1: the thing I love about your whole presentation is that
- 1:20:09Speaker 1: it's about branding. It's about marketing and UH and brand association.
- 1:20:14Speaker 1: I remember when Steve when I first started. I first
- 1:20:17Speaker 1: I met Steven eighties six, when I was a stand
- 1:20:19Speaker 1: up comback. I was headlining. He was my opening that
- 1:20:22Speaker 1: and didn't ainty to you know. Deaf Comedy Jam came
- 1:20:25Speaker 1: through town and he was headlining the show. That asked
- 1:20:28Speaker 1: me to come down and do a set, and he
- 1:20:29Speaker 1: would always see his name on stage. Steve Harvest said
- 1:20:33Speaker 1: this was Steve Harvey, Steve Harveys, Steve he was constantly
- 1:20:36Speaker 1: branding himself and name recognition. If you didn't know what's performing,
- 1:20:40Speaker 1: he's gonna tell you. So the Bell Report. When I
- 1:20:44Speaker 1: see the Bell Report that every time it's your last name,
- 1:20:47Speaker 1: it's part of the branding process. Tell us how that
- 1:20:50Speaker 1: came about. The whole magazine and also the Bell Report
- 1:20:54Speaker 1: name Report. It's it's such a gift from God, and
- 1:21:01Speaker 1: how it came into fruition, it's it's pretty uh. Years ago, fifteen, sixteen,
- 1:21:07Speaker 1: seventeen years ago. Now, my cousin Kevin was riding his
- 1:21:11Speaker 1: motorcycle out in Charlottesville. He had a motorcycle accident. His
- 1:21:15Speaker 1: mom called and she said, Sheila, let the family know
- 1:21:19Speaker 1: what's going on with Kevin. Because what happened with him
- 1:21:21Speaker 1: the motorcycle accident, He slid a tree branch limb went
- 1:21:26Speaker 1: through his eye. His son was behind him following him,
- 1:21:31Speaker 1: and his son got involved in the same accident, but
- 1:21:35Speaker 1: his son was not to really hurt. They met like
- 1:21:38Speaker 1: him to the University of Virginia Hospital. And while all
- 1:21:41Speaker 1: this is going on, I'm now keeping the family, the
- 1:21:44Speaker 1: Bell family of where of what's going on. So what
- 1:21:47Speaker 1: I had to figure out. That's when the Internet was
- 1:21:49Speaker 1: still pretty new, and I had to figure out, okay,
- 1:21:51Speaker 1: just put something on it. So I said, hey, hey,
- 1:21:54Speaker 1: this is the Bell Report for the family. So I
- 1:21:57Speaker 1: kept updating people what was going on, because I was
- 1:21:59Speaker 1: still doing news at that time of another radio station
- 1:22:02Speaker 1: at another TV station. I was updating people what was
- 1:22:05Speaker 1: going on. And as he got better, I remember that
- 1:22:09Speaker 1: was an event that was going on in the city,
- 1:22:10Speaker 1: and I said, hey, by the way, Kevin, if you're
- 1:22:12Speaker 1: feeling a little bit better, there's an event that we
- 1:22:14Speaker 1: can go to. And he said, hey, that's pretty cool.
- 1:22:17Speaker 1: He got better, and then a couple of days later
- 1:22:20Speaker 1: I said, I found out there were two more things
- 1:22:22Speaker 1: that's going on. So this went off all about a
- 1:22:24Speaker 1: good week and a half and somebody in the family
- 1:22:27Speaker 1: sent that Bell Report to somebody else and it started
- 1:22:30Speaker 1: to float. And about two or three weeks later, I
- 1:22:33Speaker 1: got an email from a friend of mine in the
- 1:22:35Speaker 1: industry and who said, hey, I understand that you're sending
- 1:22:38Speaker 1: out a newsletter or something. Can you send out this
- 1:22:41Speaker 1: event as well? And here are five hundred additional emails
- 1:22:45Speaker 1: that you can also have and distribute this to as well,
- 1:22:49Speaker 1: so a lifebub went off that made me think, alrighty,
- 1:22:52Speaker 1: I don't think they want to hear about my cousin.
- 1:22:55Speaker 1: Let me split these and keep the Bell Report for
- 1:22:58Speaker 1: the Bell Report for the family, and make the other
- 1:23:00Speaker 1: one the Bell Report for everyone else. And initially started
- 1:23:03Speaker 1: with the split with the Bell Report, that stayed the
- 1:23:05Speaker 1: way that that was. But when it came for the
- 1:23:07Speaker 1: Bell Report for the industry, I started to try to
- 1:23:10Speaker 1: find information about what was going on and what was interesting.
- 1:23:14Speaker 1: We didn't have the type of websites with all the
- 1:23:17Speaker 1: information that we have now. So I would drive from Richmond,
- 1:23:21Speaker 1: Virginia to Washington, d c. And pick up all the
- 1:23:24Speaker 1: ethnic newspapers at Howard University to find out all the
- 1:23:28Speaker 1: different events that were going on. And I have to
- 1:23:30Speaker 1: call these people to find out. And then it became
- 1:23:33Speaker 1: like a community calendar of all these different events that
- 1:23:35Speaker 1: was going on and them having reporting skills. Then you
- 1:23:39Speaker 1: start to go to the different events, and you start
- 1:23:41Speaker 1: interviewing people, and you start taking pictures, and before you
- 1:23:45Speaker 1: know at the Bell Report became two separate entities. And
- 1:23:48Speaker 1: then I had family members who said, take me off
- 1:23:50Speaker 1: the other Bell Report, just keep me on the other
- 1:23:52Speaker 1: Family Bell Report, and it just started to grow from
- 1:23:55Speaker 1: there and it has been growing ever since. And I
- 1:23:57Speaker 1: think that we do well because we've try to make
- 1:24:00Speaker 1: sure that we're not sending out emails all day long.
- 1:24:03Speaker 1: We do have the website, but people want that email
- 1:24:06Speaker 1: directly to their email front door, so we send it
- 1:24:09Speaker 1: out late at night. We send it out in the
- 1:24:11Speaker 1: noon day around twelve noon, just twice a day. But
- 1:24:14Speaker 1: if you are to print it out, it's maybe anywhere
- 1:24:17Speaker 1: from eighteen to twenty two pages of information that's going
- 1:24:20Speaker 1: on in the gospel community, from what's happening with the
- 1:24:24Speaker 1: record labels, the gospel artists, the conventions, whatever is going on.
- 1:24:27Speaker 1: People call me, send me stuff to publicists and what
- 1:24:30Speaker 1: the beauty is about the Bell Report? Which is why
- 1:24:33Speaker 1: no God gave this coming? You have all this information
- 1:24:36Speaker 1: out there, People have websites, people are over the place,
- 1:24:41Speaker 1: But how do people know how to get to your website?
- 1:24:45Speaker 1: How do they know that if you if you're trying
- 1:24:47Speaker 1: to publish it. So I'm like, hey, the Bell Report
- 1:24:50Speaker 1: goes to everybody, and people have gotten so mentally lazy.
- 1:24:54Speaker 1: If you will give me what I can get and
- 1:24:56Speaker 1: just send it to my email. So by sending it
- 1:24:59Speaker 1: to the email. It's right there, everything that you need,
- 1:25:02Speaker 1: everything that you want, and we also put links and
- 1:25:04Speaker 1: other things and the reports if people want to go there.
- 1:25:07Speaker 1: But the Bell Report has done really well. It's a
- 1:25:09Speaker 1: blessing from God. Even told me how to make a
- 1:25:11Speaker 1: couple of coins from it. And when I'm pushing it
- 1:25:14Speaker 1: out and it helps pay my bills, and I thank
- 1:25:16Speaker 1: God for you know, God gives you all the things
- 1:25:19Speaker 1: that you need, It gives you the talents that you need,
- 1:25:21Speaker 1: but He's trusting you with what he has giving you
- 1:25:24Speaker 1: as well. So I just try to make sure what
- 1:25:26Speaker 1: the gifts that God has given me that I use
- 1:25:28Speaker 1: them to help people. But I also make sure that
- 1:25:30Speaker 1: I'm using them to the glory of God and letting
- 1:25:33Speaker 1: God know every day that I wake up that he
- 1:25:35Speaker 1: can trust me with what he's trying to bless me with.

- 1:26:44Speaker 1: your host Sean McDonald. You know this is a great story, um,
- 1:26:48Speaker 1: and you to speak of God and He prepares you. Right.
- 1:26:51Speaker 1: In twenty fifteen, I'm gonna share stories that's going to
- 1:26:54Speaker 1: be relatable to you. In twenty fifteen, I was diagnosed
- 1:26:57Speaker 1: with thyro or cancer and and and it really was
- 1:27:04Speaker 1: a game changing for me mentally because I wouldn't expecting
- 1:27:08Speaker 1: that if the fact that I've done my annual exam
- 1:27:11Speaker 1: when December and with the dentists and my doctor and
- 1:27:16Speaker 1: everything was good, and it was I walked into the
- 1:27:21Speaker 1: bloodwork and the doctor was doing the bloodwork said can
- 1:27:24Speaker 1: I just to touch your throat, touch your neck, you know,
- 1:27:27Speaker 1: just something that wasn't normal. And then she said, can
- 1:27:30Speaker 1: I do a bobsy on this little this little lump
- 1:27:33Speaker 1: right here? And she did the bobbousite to turn out
- 1:27:35Speaker 1: to be cancerous. And I always tell people when somebody
- 1:27:41Speaker 1: tells you the worry cancer, I don't care where you're
- 1:27:45Speaker 1: in life. It shuts you down mentally. I mean, death
- 1:27:49Speaker 1: immediately takes upon your spirit. Uh. It's a sense of
- 1:27:52Speaker 1: a sense of you know, they go, don't tell you
- 1:27:55Speaker 1: how many times they can tell you, well, you know
- 1:27:57Speaker 1: the survival rates good, It doesn't it doesn't click with
- 1:27:59Speaker 1: you at all. But when I didn't tell my family
- 1:28:03Speaker 1: right away because I wanted to take all this in
- 1:28:05Speaker 1: and it was it was really when I realized that
- 1:28:08Speaker 1: you know, faith prepares you for an opportunity to ascend
- 1:28:11Speaker 1: that or perspective of your life. And I would tell
- 1:28:14Speaker 1: you this, mill I walked away with that situation when
- 1:28:19Speaker 1: I finally to my family because I was very comfortable
- 1:28:21Speaker 1: where my life was at at that point. And I'm
- 1:28:23Speaker 1: still comfortable to that that. You know, you know, you
- 1:28:26Speaker 1: look at your life. What have you accomplished? Or you're
- 1:28:28Speaker 1: a good person. Have you done things unselfishly in your life?
- 1:28:32Speaker 1: Have you enabled other people to achieve? Have you reached
- 1:28:35Speaker 1: your goals or you're achieving your goals, or you're living
- 1:28:37Speaker 1: the life that you want to live. And I was
- 1:28:40Speaker 1: just checking off all these boxes and I would you know,
- 1:28:43Speaker 1: I wasn't ready to check out, but if I was
- 1:28:46Speaker 1: going to check out, I was comfortable with the process.
- 1:28:50Speaker 1: And that's where I met with my life. And I
- 1:28:52Speaker 1: try to tell everybody you know, don't hold off any
- 1:28:55Speaker 1: opportunity or a dream possibility. And so when I read
- 1:28:58Speaker 1: about you being diagnosed in twenty sixteen, I want you
- 1:29:02Speaker 1: to share your experience on my show because I try
- 1:29:04Speaker 1: to be very honest with you. This is my experience,
- 1:29:06Speaker 1: but everybody has a different experience because it's so impactful.
- 1:29:09Speaker 1: I lost my sister to breast cancer, so I know
- 1:29:12Speaker 1: what it can do to you and how I can
- 1:29:14Speaker 1: devastate a family and take away somebody you love the most.
- 1:29:17Speaker 1: But it happened to me and I was able to
- 1:29:20Speaker 1: deal with it professionally because that's what it was. It
- 1:29:23Speaker 1: was a professional moment for me to be able to
- 1:29:25Speaker 1: deal with it because I put my life in perspective
- 1:29:28Speaker 1: and I've never ever gotten up saying what I could
- 1:29:31Speaker 1: not do. I just tried to do it, and I
- 1:29:34Speaker 1: tried to do it at and that's my story and
- 1:29:36Speaker 1: that's my life, and that's why I live it every day,
- 1:29:39Speaker 1: and that's why I created this money making conversation platform
- 1:29:42Speaker 1: so I can talk to amazing people like you because
- 1:29:44Speaker 1: your story is inspirational. Were important that you get to
- 1:29:47Speaker 1: share it on the platform that thousands of people can
- 1:29:49Speaker 1: hear your turn. It's well, like you said, it's amazing
- 1:29:53Speaker 1: when you get diagnosed or something like that, you are
- 1:29:56Speaker 1: never prepared for it. And when I initially got that
- 1:30:00Speaker 1: test and they let me even back up. When I
- 1:30:03Speaker 1: was at the radio station, they were talking about having
- 1:30:06Speaker 1: healthfare and somebody said, you know they're gonna be doing
- 1:30:08Speaker 1: mammograms there and I had not had one, had not,
- 1:30:13Speaker 1: But when I was invited to go, I knew when
- 1:30:17Speaker 1: I went, my life was going to change. I just
- 1:30:19Speaker 1: I just knew it. And I went that Saturday. I
- 1:30:21Speaker 1: walked up those three steps. There was a young lady
- 1:30:24Speaker 1: sitting in that little lab area of a I call
- 1:30:26Speaker 1: it the Mamma Grandma Bile because it was a mobile
- 1:30:29Speaker 1: that was there. There was a young lady sitting there,
- 1:30:31Speaker 1: and when I walked and I looked at her, I said,
- 1:30:33Speaker 1: my life will never be the same, and she just
- 1:30:36Speaker 1: looked at me and tilted her head. They called me back.
- 1:30:39Speaker 1: They did three or four images. They said, we'll call you.
- 1:30:42Speaker 1: There's something wrong. Wednesday they called. They said we found
- 1:30:46Speaker 1: some crystallization and I had to go to the hospital
- 1:30:49Speaker 1: to further that. I went to the University of Virginia,
- 1:30:52Speaker 1: which is where I got everything originally done, because I
- 1:30:54Speaker 1: didn't want to really deal with it here where I
- 1:30:56Speaker 1: am Richmond. When I got there and they started taking wages,
- 1:31:00Speaker 1: I think by the time they were on image number
- 1:31:02Speaker 1: twelve or thirteen and started to get real, I said okay,
- 1:31:06Speaker 1: and I started to get some emotions there. Then they
- 1:31:09Speaker 1: wanted to take a biopsy. And when they took the
- 1:31:12Speaker 1: biopsy and the doctor looked at some things, and I said,
- 1:31:14Speaker 1: do we have a problem? He says, we have a problem.
- 1:31:17Speaker 1: So we gathered him that And when I gat through
- 1:31:19Speaker 1: that and I went outside, that was that one moment
- 1:31:23Speaker 1: when I had to sit down and get myself together.
- 1:31:26Speaker 1: I had to process it and to mentally figure out
- 1:31:29Speaker 1: what I'm gonna do. I mentally make some decisions. How
- 1:31:32Speaker 1: are you gonna handle this? Are you gonna fall apart?
- 1:31:35Speaker 1: Are you gonna be strong? It's not about why is
- 1:31:38Speaker 1: that God's trusting you with this assignment? So let's handle this.
- 1:31:42Speaker 1: Your mother passed away from bone cancer, handle it. You
- 1:31:45Speaker 1: are here. And after I gat through that, it was
- 1:31:48Speaker 1: sordered like it was sort of like saying, game on,
- 1:31:50Speaker 1: let's do this. And that's the mindset that I took.
- 1:31:55Speaker 1: And I was supposed to have six chemotherapy treatments. I
- 1:31:58Speaker 1: was supposed to through the whole nine. But well, so
- 1:32:02Speaker 1: interesting when you are in a position like that, the
- 1:32:05Speaker 1: first thing you start figuring out is, Okay, I gotta
- 1:32:09Speaker 1: figure out how to handle this. But then when you
- 1:32:11Speaker 1: meet when you meet with a doctor, you really don't
- 1:32:15Speaker 1: know what to ask. You don't know what to do,
- 1:32:19Speaker 1: you don't know how to feel, you don't know what
- 1:32:22Speaker 1: direction to going because you've never been in this uncharted
- 1:32:25Speaker 1: territory before. You're now dependent on this doctor to give
- 1:32:29Speaker 1: you the best advice possible what you should do, how
- 1:32:32Speaker 1: you should handle it, what treatment you should take. So
- 1:32:35Speaker 1: what they were telling me after I started digging because
- 1:32:38Speaker 1: I don't mind digging and getting research. But what this
- 1:32:41Speaker 1: doctor told me um, I didn't agree with. And they
- 1:32:45Speaker 1: were telling me that I needed to have surgery first,
- 1:32:48Speaker 1: and I needed to do this and that and and
- 1:32:51Speaker 1: and I'm I'm like, wit, I'm like, but if if
- 1:32:53Speaker 1: you have surgery first and you you do have a
- 1:32:56Speaker 1: large I had an eight uh an eight centimeter tumor,
- 1:33:00Speaker 1: said why don't we do the chemo first to shrink
- 1:33:03Speaker 1: it and then do the surgery to remove it. But
- 1:33:07Speaker 1: then they didn't give me all the options. They were
- 1:33:09Speaker 1: telling me that I could have both in my breasts removed,
- 1:33:12Speaker 1: and it was really a mess. So after I initially
- 1:33:16Speaker 1: got a port in and then I had my first
- 1:33:19Speaker 1: chemo therapy treatment. Uh that went pretty well. Two weeks
- 1:33:25Speaker 1: into the first chemo treatment and I was finding out
- 1:33:29Speaker 1: some tightness in my chest, and then the port got infected.
- 1:33:32Speaker 1: And after the port got infected, and I was calling
- 1:33:36Speaker 1: the hospital and uv A and I'm in Richmond. They
- 1:33:39Speaker 1: were saying, when you need to get to the emergency room.
- 1:33:42Speaker 1: And then when I got to the emergency room, then
- 1:33:44Speaker 1: we found out that the port was infected, had a
- 1:33:46Speaker 1: wounded infection out of blood infection, and they had to
- 1:33:48Speaker 1: take the port out. Then I wasn't admitted to the hospital.
- 1:33:51Speaker 1: Then I had mercer. Then I got out of the
- 1:33:53Speaker 1: hospital about a week and a half later that I
- 1:33:55Speaker 1: was on Banca vica marris banka, whatever that drug is,
- 1:33:59Speaker 1: for about twenty one days. Then after that got cleared up,
- 1:34:03Speaker 1: I went back to treatment for my chemo, which was
- 1:34:06Speaker 1: treatment number two. Okay, Treatment number three was a little
- 1:34:10Speaker 1: rough because by this time I was going through losing weight.
- 1:34:15Speaker 1: I was down eighty five pounds, the hair was gone.
- 1:34:19Speaker 1: I was also in the middle of pulling together an
- 1:34:21Speaker 1: event at my church called the Gift, and that Gift
- 1:34:25Speaker 1: helped me to propel and push through what I was
- 1:34:27Speaker 1: going through. The Gift was a program that I put
- 1:34:29Speaker 1: together that was going to be helping out people who
- 1:34:32Speaker 1: were caregivers of people who were also dealing with cancer.
- 1:34:35Speaker 1: But that gave me that fight, and that gave me
- 1:34:37Speaker 1: something the focus on. After that third treatment, though it
- 1:34:40Speaker 1: was just rough, but I made it through, and then
- 1:34:43Speaker 1: we went to the fourth treatment. At the fourth treatment,
- 1:34:46Speaker 1: I asked them the doctor, I said, do you think
- 1:34:50Speaker 1: you that we might be able to wrap this up
- 1:34:52Speaker 1: at treatment number five? She said, well, let's see. At
- 1:34:56Speaker 1: this time, remember they took the poor out. So when
- 1:35:00Speaker 1: I left the hospital this time, and now I had
- 1:35:02Speaker 1: a pick in my arm. So the picus was getting
- 1:35:05Speaker 1: the chemotherapy treatment for the second treatment, the third treatment,
- 1:35:08Speaker 1: and the fourth treatment, so I'm thinking on the fifth treatment, hey, hey,
- 1:35:11Speaker 1: we're done. We're gonna wrap this up. When I get
- 1:35:14Speaker 1: there for the fifth treatment, they can't get a return
- 1:35:17Speaker 1: on the blood. They're trying to get a return on
- 1:35:19Speaker 1: the blood, and then they said, we're gonna have to
- 1:35:21Speaker 1: take the pick out. And this happens. This is when
- 1:35:26Speaker 1: you have to go back and have a little talk
- 1:35:29Speaker 1: with Jesus and praying that he would make everything all right.
- 1:35:32Speaker 1: And I had to trust my faith to get me
- 1:35:35Speaker 1: through this moment because at this moment, they called my
- 1:35:39Speaker 1: doctor's back downstairs, and as much of a fighter as
- 1:35:44Speaker 1: I am, and the doctors realized I was trying to
- 1:35:46Speaker 1: hold them to this pickline because they already took the
- 1:35:49Speaker 1: port out. So if you took the port out, and
- 1:35:51Speaker 1: I'm thinking, if you take the pick out, what are
- 1:35:53Speaker 1: we gonna do next, because we have either one or
- 1:35:56Speaker 1: two more treatments left. So they're looking at me. I'm
- 1:36:01Speaker 1: looking at them, and it was this moment of silence
- 1:36:06Speaker 1: because I had to get it in my head and
- 1:36:08Speaker 1: I said, go ahead and take the pick out. Take
- 1:36:13Speaker 1: the pick out. But it's on the third time that
- 1:36:17Speaker 1: I meant it and I trusted God and I said
- 1:36:20Speaker 1: take the pick out. And they took the pick out.
- 1:36:24Speaker 1: They sent me to the emergency room. They wrapped my
- 1:36:27Speaker 1: arm up. I went home. I got dressed from my event,
- 1:36:32Speaker 1: the gift at my church with seats over three thousand people.
- 1:36:37Speaker 1: I got there that evening I could barely walk. I
- 1:36:40Speaker 1: have a black shawl wrapped around my arm. The stuff
- 1:36:43Speaker 1: in my arm is gradually oozing out and crystallizing. I've
- 1:36:47Speaker 1: got two cousins looking after me when I walk on
- 1:36:50Speaker 1: the pulpit that evening that I'm so called co hosting,
- 1:36:53Speaker 1: barely can walk a good chunk of my church was
- 1:36:56Speaker 1: there who did not know that I was going through
- 1:36:59Speaker 1: all of this. They have seen me MC many of concerts, host, radio, TV,
- 1:37:06Speaker 1: the whole nine. But when I walked on that platform,
- 1:37:10Speaker 1: there was silence. There was you could hear people gasping,
- 1:37:15Speaker 1: you could hear people in shock, and I saw people cry.
- 1:37:18Speaker 1: And I think because I had not had a chance
- 1:37:20Speaker 1: to be in church about two or three months, I
- 1:37:22Speaker 1: was emotional. But we got through it. That was that Saturday.
- 1:37:27Speaker 1: It was a great program to Caitlin carb is my
- 1:37:29Speaker 1: special guest. She came up with her dad and it
- 1:37:32Speaker 1: was just a beautiful thing. People and then years ago,
- 1:37:42Speaker 1: crazy and she's dating a football player. Now right, it's crazy,
- 1:37:46Speaker 1: that's her person. Sorry, but right, so she's there. It's
- 1:37:51Speaker 1: just an amazing moment. We finished with the program. Sunday comes,
- 1:37:55Speaker 1: Monday comes, I'm going back to get this pickline in
- 1:37:59Speaker 1: and we really lies that. Okay, this isn't gonna happen.
- 1:38:02Speaker 1: Let's wait and see what the m r I does.
- 1:38:05Speaker 1: So we finally get clearance in the m r I.
- 1:38:08Speaker 1: We walked down to to the office and it was
- 1:38:11Speaker 1: a fireplace there. I said, I'm gonna take this picture,
- 1:38:14Speaker 1: believing God's gonna heal me. So we walked through. We
- 1:38:17Speaker 1: go to the back. I'm about to get this m R.
- 1:38:20Speaker 1: I done. The nurse she comes over to me. She says,
- 1:38:23Speaker 1: would you mind if I pray for you? I said,
- 1:38:25Speaker 1: come on, somebody, she prays for me. I walked back.
- 1:38:30Speaker 1: I'm laying down on this table. This was on Monday
- 1:38:34Speaker 1: or Tuesday. We're waiting for the phone call to come back.
- 1:38:37Speaker 1: The lady founding calls. Carol calls me on Wednesday morning.
- 1:38:42Speaker 1: I missed the call. I have to call her back,
- 1:38:46Speaker 1: I said, Carol. She said, Sheila, we got the results,
- 1:38:50Speaker 1: and her voice dropped. I'm still trusting God. And she says,
- 1:38:54Speaker 1: I want you to know that we didn't find any cancer.
- 1:38:58Speaker 1: All the cancer is on. So you have a great
- 1:39:02Speaker 1: Christmas and you enjoy yourself. What I thought right there,
- 1:39:07Speaker 1: because I remember when the doctor told me. The doctor
- 1:39:10Speaker 1: told me said, you know, because we always have the
- 1:39:13Speaker 1: feary coming back. But the doctor came in my room,
- 1:39:15Speaker 1: he went, you are you cancer free? Then he just
- 1:39:18Speaker 1: walked out. I went, what did he just said? Did
- 1:39:21Speaker 1: he say he just walked out? You know? It just
- 1:39:23Speaker 1: said you good, you can just walked out. I went
- 1:39:26Speaker 1: did he just say cancer free? Did he say I'm
- 1:39:29Speaker 1: cool and clear? I just went, I gotta confirm this again.
- 1:39:35Speaker 1: I ran up and down. It's all that, and I
- 1:39:36Speaker 1: just saw, I went, what did you just say? Okay?
- 1:39:39Speaker 1: Because you just casually said that I was cancer free? Yeah,
- 1:39:45Speaker 1: you're you're good. You're good, You're good. I went, thank you.
- 1:39:48Speaker 1: But I'll just let you know that you can't say
- 1:39:51Speaker 1: something like that casually. Yeah, so you know what I'm saying. So,
- 1:39:57Speaker 1: but people don't value They just give you information and
- 1:40:00Speaker 1: think is trivial, but they don't know the emotional journey
- 1:40:04Speaker 1: that you're on because this is life and death information
- 1:40:07Speaker 1: that is being given to you. So I know when
- 1:40:09Speaker 1: you was giving that information, it's like, oh my god,
- 1:40:14Speaker 1: it's this. It's just real. It's true, you said, you
- 1:40:17Speaker 1: start doubting yourself, you start contradicting information, and then you
- 1:40:21Speaker 1: have the process. It is being real. So it was
- 1:40:23Speaker 1: a moment when they said waiting to exhale, You finally
- 1:40:27Speaker 1: did to exhale at that moment, and I did, and
- 1:40:31Speaker 1: it's just amazing how you feel after that, and you
- 1:40:33Speaker 1: have time to heal, and even I had to have radiation,
- 1:40:37Speaker 1: and you know, people have really bad side effects radiation.
- 1:40:41Speaker 1: I found a friend who knew somebody who knew somebody
- 1:40:43Speaker 1: who knew somebody who was making this cream up in Washington,
- 1:40:46Speaker 1: d C. And I said, hey, I'll take two jars
- 1:40:48Speaker 1: of it. They said, put it on there before the
- 1:40:50Speaker 1: treatment starts, and I did that. I got less in
- 1:40:54Speaker 1: a sun less than a sunburn of a burnt on
- 1:40:58Speaker 1: me from thirty three rounds radiation less. That was it.
- 1:41:03Speaker 1: I think God for it. God was with me through
- 1:41:05Speaker 1: this whole situation. And it's amazing when you were talking
- 1:41:09Speaker 1: about when you have to tell your family members. I
- 1:41:11Speaker 1: remember I told my niece and my nephew, and I
- 1:41:14Speaker 1: thought that I was gonna fix it up. I said, hey,
- 1:41:17Speaker 1: I got a little something that's going on. But the
- 1:41:19Speaker 1: doctor said, I'm gonna be okay. I'm thinking I'm doing
- 1:41:22Speaker 1: a good, good job because I'm telling them the good thing.
- 1:41:24Speaker 1: And I tried to backtrack, and before I knew, I
- 1:41:27Speaker 1: could hear tears so and then I heard the breakdown.
- 1:41:30Speaker 1: So after the niece and the nephew and the brother
- 1:41:31Speaker 1: and the sister, I didn't tell anybody else because it
- 1:41:33Speaker 1: was too much. And when family members are hearing, they're
- 1:41:36Speaker 1: like not you, not you, she rebell not know. It's
- 1:41:40Speaker 1: like people just couldn't comprehend or would not accept it.
- 1:41:43Speaker 1: And my sister she wouldn't accept it. She just she
- 1:41:46Speaker 1: just wouldn't accept it. And I think we were thinking
- 1:41:48Speaker 1: about my mom. But I just think about what you
- 1:41:50Speaker 1: were talking about. Sometimes when you go through something, you
- 1:41:53Speaker 1: become more concerned about the family members than taking care
- 1:41:57Speaker 1: of yourself. And you have to take care of yourself little.
- 1:42:00Speaker 1: So to go through that, the surgery and the radiation
- 1:42:04Speaker 1: and all that I went through, I just thank God
- 1:42:07Speaker 1: that I'm okay. It's it's just amazing to be here more,
- 1:42:12Speaker 1: to have a testimony, to share and give God all
- 1:42:14Speaker 1: the glory for You're more than okay, Sheila. I want
- 1:42:17Speaker 1: to thank you for coming on my show. Can we
- 1:42:19Speaker 1: do this once a quarter? Can we have a Can
- 1:42:21Speaker 1: we love to? I love your energy, I love your smile,
- 1:42:24Speaker 1: I love your personality. I love how you just make
- 1:42:27Speaker 1: this such a comfortable atmosphere, just to share and to
- 1:42:31Speaker 1: be transparent and to also prayerfully helping other people who
- 1:42:35Speaker 1: may be going through some of the similar things that
- 1:42:37Speaker 1: we have gone through. I'll tell you you're I'm a
- 1:42:39Speaker 1: fan of yours. I wanted to get you on the
- 1:42:41Speaker 1: show once a quarter. We're gonna have to you a
- 1:42:43Speaker 1: little emotional praise because people needed. I bring in my
- 1:42:46Speaker 1: girl Land to Alams on the show. You know at
- 1:42:48Speaker 1: least three times a year. She's like my mentor. She
- 1:42:52Speaker 1: checks me, keeps me focused, she keeps a clear understanding.
- 1:42:56Speaker 1: And I have to treat you like another sister because
- 1:42:58Speaker 1: you're my sister. For rich She's my sister from Houston
- 1:43:01Speaker 1: while I was born and raised. So bail report, I
- 1:43:04Speaker 1: mean your report once a month. I'm in your life
- 1:43:07Speaker 1: every day because we are sisters and brothers are a life.
- 1:43:10Speaker 1: Thank you for coming on money making conversation. Okay, thank
- 1:43:13Speaker 1: you so much for having me have a great one,
- 1:43:15Speaker 1: and God bless you're real good. Thank you. I appreciate it.
- 1:43:23Speaker 1: This report is brought to you by Humanity. If you're
- 1:43:26Speaker 1: a veteran Medicare, there are Medicare advantage plans that compliment
- 1:43:29Speaker 1: the coverage you get through the v a. Ed Sandric
- 1:43:31Speaker 1: is director of Humaniz Veterans Channel. How does a Medicare
- 1:43:34Speaker 1: advantage plan work with VA benefits? A Medicare advantage plan
- 1:43:38Speaker 1: can compliment the health care services and benefits and the
- 1:43:41Speaker 1: veteran gets through the VA Medicare advantage plans. That Human Office,
- 1:43:45Speaker 1: particularly Humanity Honor Medicare Advantage Plan, which was designed with
- 1:43:49Speaker 1: veterans in mind, used the VIA works side by side.
- 1:43:52Speaker 1: As I said that it kind of compliments the v
- 1:43:54Speaker 1: A healthcare. An individual can go to the v A
- 1:43:57Speaker 1: for the services that here she wants or needs at
- 1:43:59Speaker 1: the v and his oats before and also can use
- 1:44:02Speaker 1: the Medicare Advantage network as well side by side. They
- 1:44:06Speaker 1: don't uh interrupt one another. Um. There are some miss
- 1:44:11Speaker 1: and misconceptions among the veteran community that they may jeopardize
- 1:44:15Speaker 1: their VA healthcare should they use original Medicare and medical advantage.
- 1:44:18Speaker 1: That's just not the case. For more information, visit humana

- 1:46:15Speaker 1: work with the money making conversation for the very first time,
- 1:46:18Speaker 1: Chef Tan you, how are you doing great? Thanks for
- 1:46:21Speaker 1: having me. It's good to be here. Well, it's always
- 1:46:23Speaker 1: good to talk to somebody about food, Okay, and you're
- 1:46:26Speaker 1: one of the best at it. But before I get
- 1:46:28Speaker 1: started there, let's talk about you being on these competition
- 1:46:31Speaker 1: show that mentality of being able to go in there
- 1:46:34Speaker 1: and being able to not only be a contestant at times,
- 1:46:37Speaker 1: but also judging. What's the mentality tied tow all that
- 1:46:41Speaker 1: because you have to be good at what you do
- 1:46:44Speaker 1: and you have to be spontaneous and creative. Yeah, I
- 1:46:47Speaker 1: think it's um, it's all about preparation and you know,
- 1:46:50Speaker 1: the work you've done in your career along the way,
- 1:46:53Speaker 1: and knowing what is a standard of excellence. Uh that
- 1:46:57Speaker 1: could be taste, presentation, um, anything, and you know, just
- 1:47:03Speaker 1: to stay focused. I've always had a strong focus as
- 1:47:06Speaker 1: I've been working and just noticing not only what I'm
- 1:47:09Speaker 1: doing in my business, but what others are doing, my
- 1:47:11Speaker 1: colleagues across the country, across the world. And you know,
- 1:47:15Speaker 1: I've published, I've read a bunch, so I'm now trusted
- 1:47:20Speaker 1: as an expert in my field. So that's really you know,
- 1:47:23Speaker 1: it's a great thing. Well that are you not only
- 1:47:25Speaker 1: trust that you wanted the best? So let's go and
- 1:47:27Speaker 1: put the word best and trusted. Because the fact that
- 1:47:30Speaker 1: you have a show there's on the own network that
- 1:47:32Speaker 1: airs every Saturday, you know, chin just Kitchen Table. Tell
- 1:47:35Speaker 1: us about that show. Yeah, the show has been something
- 1:47:38Speaker 1: that I've envisioned for well over a decade, UM, since
- 1:47:42Speaker 1: I had my show in the Food Network Melting Pot
- 1:47:45Speaker 1: in early two thousand's, I've been wanting to get back
- 1:47:47Speaker 1: on have my own show, something that would really highlight
- 1:47:50Speaker 1: my personality in my style, UM, that I could shape
- 1:47:54Speaker 1: um and not be pigeonholed by a production company or producer.
- 1:47:57Speaker 1: And this really happened here, so I'm really pleased with it.
- 1:48:01Speaker 1: I started off this season with a lot of my
- 1:48:03Speaker 1: you know, my standards, my greatest hits as far as recipes,
- 1:48:07Speaker 1: but I'm able to tell a story of how I
- 1:48:09Speaker 1: got to them and including my family background. I bring
- 1:48:14Speaker 1: some friends in at the end of each show and
- 1:48:17Speaker 1: break bread with them and share experiences and stories, and
- 1:48:21Speaker 1: that's really what I love. I love hospitality, and I
- 1:48:24Speaker 1: love the opportunity to uh teach people how to cook
- 1:48:28Speaker 1: good food. You know, that's healthy, that's simple, and um,
- 1:48:32Speaker 1: the taste delicious. Well, you know, I watched the show
- 1:48:35Speaker 1: and some of your friends bringing they look like they're
- 1:48:37Speaker 1: hungry when they come into the kitchen, you know the course,
- 1:48:42Speaker 1: they look like you're not cooking fast enough. Give me
- 1:48:44Speaker 1: that Stapp already played already so perspective. And I love
- 1:48:48Speaker 1: the fact that you're talking about Rishawn. I don't want
- 1:48:51Speaker 1: to just be on TV. I want to be on
- 1:48:52Speaker 1: TV talk about my brain, talk about my perspective, my
- 1:48:55Speaker 1: point of view. You know, one of my favorite shows
- 1:48:57Speaker 1: on Netflix is called The Chef Table, when they yeah,
- 1:49:01Speaker 1: just a beautiful it's beautifully produced shows for sure. And
- 1:49:06Speaker 1: so when I watched this show, you know, I'm glad
- 1:49:08Speaker 1: you you've seen it and the Rodney's being on my
- 1:49:11Speaker 1: show and I'm a big fan of here. I have
- 1:49:12Speaker 1: a lot of shifts that come on my show and
- 1:49:15Speaker 1: because they know I recognized their story and want to
- 1:49:17Speaker 1: let them tell their stories, you know, because you know,
- 1:49:20Speaker 1: you know, I just had chef or Dwado Jordan, one
- 1:49:22Speaker 1: of my good friends know him, and uh, you know,
- 1:49:25Speaker 1: and we were talking about black chefs, you know, because
- 1:49:28Speaker 1: you know, from black chef to ownership, you know, that's
- 1:49:31Speaker 1: another thing because a lot of times, you know, the
- 1:49:33Speaker 1: history is that we're just good cooks, good maids, clean
- 1:49:36Speaker 1: to people, give waitresses, but then not being recognized as owners.
- 1:49:40Speaker 1: What you are an owner and now and now and
- 1:49:42Speaker 1: not be recognized as top flight international chef because sometimes
- 1:49:47Speaker 1: we're just pigeonholes as the you know, the mom pop
- 1:49:50Speaker 1: chef back there, sweeper take the corn bread and all
- 1:49:54Speaker 1: that good stuff. What have you done as far as
- 1:49:56Speaker 1: your brand? It's what you've done. And I'm not saying
- 1:49:58Speaker 1: you out there trying to change the world, but you're
- 1:50:01Speaker 1: trying to deliver your personality and that' and this is
- 1:50:03Speaker 1: what you do with what you can do. Yeah. And
- 1:50:05Speaker 1: then and actually I am trying to change the world.
- 1:50:09Speaker 1: I have I gonna help you great one thing that um,
- 1:50:14Speaker 1: and that's something I've aspired to do for many many years. UM.
- 1:50:17Speaker 1: I haven't written down from a diary when I was um,
- 1:50:21Speaker 1: uh probably you know, a young teenager. I said, I
- 1:50:24Speaker 1: don't know what I want to do. Whatever it is,
- 1:50:26Speaker 1: I want either to be famous or to change the world.
- 1:50:31Speaker 1: So I'm hoping to, you know, make some change and impact. UM.
- 1:50:35Speaker 1: I've just been voted onto the board of trustees of
- 1:50:37Speaker 1: the James Beard Foundation, which you know is the organization
- 1:50:41Speaker 1: that really recognizes restaurant awards. Yeah, and I'm going to
- 1:50:46Speaker 1: be chairing all the awards, so you know, I will
- 1:50:49Speaker 1: be definitely looking to make sure that these opportunities are
- 1:50:53Speaker 1: now diverse and equitable and inclusive. And that's exciting. I've
- 1:50:57Speaker 1: also done a lot of culinary diplomacy work with the U. S.
- 1:51:00Speaker 1: State Department, traveling around the world representing the United States,
- 1:51:04Speaker 1: but also introducing soul food to different cultures in Kazakhstan,
- 1:51:10Speaker 1: in Mexico and Hong Kong and Singapore. I've gone to
- 1:51:13Speaker 1: so far. I'm supposed to go to Japan and Type
- 1:51:15Speaker 1: one this year, but hopefully it can go towards the
- 1:51:18Speaker 1: end of UM And I'm just passionate about that. I think,
- 1:51:24Speaker 1: you know, food brings people together. It just really demonstrates
- 1:51:28Speaker 1: our common denominators. Um And it's just it's you know,
- 1:51:33Speaker 1: it's empowering. Everybody should be fed, everybody should know we
- 1:51:36Speaker 1: should learn how to cook at least one or two
- 1:51:38Speaker 1: dishes for survival. Um And I'm just trying to grow
- 1:51:42Speaker 1: my brand in you know, the hospitality fields and working
- 1:51:45Speaker 1: on my next cookbook, hopefully continue to do the show
- 1:51:49Speaker 1: and open the restaurant again when we have the restrictions,
- 1:51:53Speaker 1: you know, really of them really been a state. There's
- 1:51:58Speaker 1: really been locking down, uh, ability for restaurants to exist.
- 1:52:02Speaker 1: I aimed to work. Now let's talk about you mentioned
- 1:52:05Speaker 1: words so food and I'm from Houston, Texas, going and
- 1:52:08Speaker 1: raised and so from a southern board. So what is
- 1:52:11Speaker 1: soul food to you? Because you talked about it, and
- 1:52:14Speaker 1: because my version of soul food is I Tennessee has
- 1:52:17Speaker 1: been shifted into you see it in buffets and things
- 1:52:19Speaker 1: like that. But when you put other people said, now
- 1:52:22Speaker 1: that's not so food, Roshan. So what is so fu
- 1:52:24Speaker 1: when you're talking about so food, Well, I think anywhere
- 1:52:28Speaker 1: you find African Americans in this country, it's you know,
- 1:52:32Speaker 1: it's rooted in the south. Uh. The cuisine created by
- 1:52:37Speaker 1: the enslaved people. I mean the first fusion cuisine. That
- 1:52:40Speaker 1: really the first American cuisine excuse me, um. And then
- 1:52:44Speaker 1: you know, black folks migrated to the northeast, to the northwest,
- 1:52:48Speaker 1: to Chicago, Midwest. Um, here from Houston, Texas. My mom's
- 1:52:53Speaker 1: from Shreeport, Louisiana. My dad's from Virginia. Their soul foods
- 1:52:56Speaker 1: are different. But it's going to be based on excuse me,
- 1:53:00Speaker 1: a lot of the cuisine that our ancestors created with
- 1:53:05Speaker 1: the ingredients they found here, the ingredients they brought and
- 1:53:07Speaker 1: what they were given. You know, um, really humble cuisine.
- 1:53:12Speaker 1: But then you know myself, Eduard oh Mashma, we're taking
- 1:53:15Speaker 1: to the next level. We're bringing in our more refined techniques. Um.
- 1:53:20Speaker 1: We're trying to bring in sustainability and organic products and
- 1:53:24Speaker 1: really bring the cuisine into the next century. It still
- 1:53:27Speaker 1: represents us and our heritage UM, which is so rich
- 1:53:30Speaker 1: you know in the African just diaspora, if you expanded
- 1:53:33Speaker 1: to West Africa and North Africa, the Caribbean, we have
- 1:53:36Speaker 1: so much to work with and we've given um so
- 1:53:40Speaker 1: much to this world in terms of flavor and food ways,
- 1:53:43Speaker 1: and if it's up to me, I'm just going to
- 1:53:46Speaker 1: make sure that we keep getting more credit for that
- 1:53:48Speaker 1: because it's it's really important. Absolutely. By the way, my
- 1:53:51Speaker 1: parents were born in Streeport in Louisiana, so I just
- 1:53:55Speaker 1: want to let you know we have a little little
- 1:53:56Speaker 1: roots there together. We bear familiar with that part of
- 1:54:00Speaker 1: the country. Like I said, my mom and dad were
- 1:54:02Speaker 1: born in Streeport, basically Bosier, louis What you know is
- 1:54:05Speaker 1: like I know exactly that is. Now, let's talk about
- 1:54:09Speaker 1: your show. We kind of mentioned a little bit of
- 1:54:11Speaker 1: Tanya's kitchen table and basically you know, the classic dishes,
- 1:54:14Speaker 1: tips on how to cook like a pro, but also
- 1:54:17Speaker 1: a spin and uh one of the spans you did
- 1:54:19Speaker 1: on the famous Creole dirty rice, you know which I
- 1:54:23Speaker 1: love dirty rice. I've never cooked it, I'll be honest
- 1:54:27Speaker 1: with you, but you have two versions of it. You
- 1:54:29Speaker 1: have one with me, and you have a vegan version. Versions,
- 1:54:33Speaker 1: the vegan version, talk to us about that. Well, I
- 1:54:36Speaker 1: have a classic, like you said, with sausage and the
- 1:54:39Speaker 1: chicken lagers. Come on, come on, come on, come on,
- 1:54:41Speaker 1: than come on, come on stop. That's my personal favorite too,
- 1:54:47Speaker 1: but especially living in California and you know now, but
- 1:54:52Speaker 1: when I opened in two thousand and eight, a lot
- 1:54:54Speaker 1: of vegetarians, a lot of vegans in the community, and
- 1:54:57Speaker 1: I just wanted to take care of them. And um,
- 1:55:01Speaker 1: I love cooking fresh vegetables. So it's really the creole
- 1:55:04Speaker 1: spices in there, the Worcester sauces in there, but it's
- 1:55:07Speaker 1: more vegetable forward, and and it's a favorite. People love it.
- 1:55:11Speaker 1: And you got the spinach in there, right, the baby spinish,
- 1:55:13Speaker 1: just ye baby spinach at the answer. Just some extra
- 1:55:16Speaker 1: freshness and it's and it looks fantastic. First of all,
- 1:55:19Speaker 1: it looks very easy to do. Of course, you know,
- 1:55:21Speaker 1: you gotta do a lot of chopping the green onions
- 1:55:23Speaker 1: and the peppers, and you know it's a little working.
- 1:55:25Speaker 1: They're browning it out, so you know, but you made
- 1:55:27Speaker 1: it look easy for me. I saw it one time
- 1:55:30Speaker 1: and I remembered. So that's a that's a talent because
- 1:55:32Speaker 1: you know, sometimes you watch these recipes, you go, you
- 1:55:34Speaker 1: get lost in the process, and I want to follow you.
- 1:55:37Speaker 1: I go, Okay, cool, that's really quick because you know,
- 1:55:40Speaker 1: you you have the ability to talk and and uh
- 1:55:44Speaker 1: and demonstrate the same time. A lot of people can't
- 1:55:45Speaker 1: do that. They'll stop and then mixing they stop. Because
- 1:55:48Speaker 1: your ability to talk and demonstrate the same time, it
- 1:55:51Speaker 1: makes the process so much easier to understand and gives
- 1:55:55Speaker 1: credibility that I can do it too. Thank you. Thank
- 1:55:58Speaker 1: I'm glad you feel that way. Yeah, I can't now.
- 1:56:01Speaker 1: One thing that my wife for her birthday I made her.
- 1:56:04Speaker 1: I I grew some salmon. You know, I ain't really
- 1:56:07Speaker 1: how easy it was to do salmons and you know,
- 1:56:09Speaker 1: some some sea salt and some lemon and something with
- 1:56:12Speaker 1: the partially and she she thought I did the best
- 1:56:15Speaker 1: thing in the world. And I took a bow for that. Okay,
- 1:56:18Speaker 1: now you do you do it or something with color
- 1:56:20Speaker 1: greens and creole mustard sauce. And I talked to us
- 1:56:23Speaker 1: about that, and just tell you how you just do
- 1:56:24Speaker 1: these different spins on your show that makes your show
- 1:56:27Speaker 1: that airs every Saturday on their own network, and it's
- 1:56:30Speaker 1: really fantastic. I was, you know, I know we shot
- 1:56:32Speaker 1: on time, but before we want to make sure you understood.
- 1:56:35Speaker 1: I really respect what you do and I a my
- 1:56:37Speaker 1: skill set. Okay, tell us about that salmon and those
- 1:56:41Speaker 1: we're short today, but I'll have to come back. Yeah.
- 1:56:44Speaker 1: So I took the salmon, the colored green leaf and
- 1:56:48Speaker 1: blanched it so you put in boiling water to its softens,
- 1:56:51Speaker 1: and you put in ice water so that it stops
- 1:56:54Speaker 1: the cooking process, but available it also helps it stay green.
- 1:56:58Speaker 1: And I took that and I wrapped salmon seal at
- 1:57:00Speaker 1: that seasoned with some salt to add some olive oil
- 1:57:03Speaker 1: and some time fresh time, and wrapped it and then
- 1:57:06Speaker 1: I steam it uh in a steam basket altogether in
- 1:57:10Speaker 1: until the salmon is cooked. Probably I like to cook
- 1:57:13Speaker 1: it medium, so long your steam and how long minutes?
- 1:57:17Speaker 1: Thirty minutes, No, probably it's between fifteen and twenty, depending
- 1:57:21Speaker 1: on the weight of the salmon. Sala. Look at your
- 1:57:24Speaker 1: children's eyes to see the true magic of a forest.

- 1:58:55Speaker 1: But that you actually you put what you do, you
- 1:59:00Speaker 1: good green around the outside like a little envelope and
- 1:59:03Speaker 1: then when when when does the sauce coming to play there?
- 1:59:06Speaker 1: So the fox is on the side and I make
- 1:59:08Speaker 1: it in a blender. It's um creole mustard with mustard
- 1:59:12Speaker 1: seeds and um egg yokes. It's it's a delicious, easy,
- 1:59:16Speaker 1: easy sauce and some spice in it. Really good. Well,

- 2:01:32Speaker 1: is Sasage Stewart. Her passion for fashion started as a
- 2:01:35Speaker 1: little girl when she spent hours on end in fabricy
- 2:01:38Speaker 1: stores with a fashion designer mall while pursuing her degree
- 2:01:40Speaker 1: in college. She would sell her designer items on eBay
- 2:01:44Speaker 1: to pay her way through college. After college, to be
- 2:01:46Speaker 1: in the careers at licensed respiratory therapists, and despite job security,
- 2:01:51Speaker 1: she pivoted into a full time entrepreneurship. Believe me, that
- 2:01:55Speaker 1: job right there will always have an employment available to it.
- 2:01:58Speaker 1: She's currently the see or Vault by Shopper Sasha. She's
- 2:02:02Speaker 1: currently CEO of the Vault by Sasha. The Vault by
- 2:02:05Speaker 1: Sasha offer the variety of limited items, rare and like
- 2:02:08Speaker 1: e collected pieces including swimwear, tops, bottoms and accessories to
- 2:02:13Speaker 1: turn heads. You know what that means, guys and ladies,
- 2:02:15Speaker 1: and make a statement at your next event, please work
- 2:02:18Speaker 1: on the money making conversation. She's ready. She's based in Atlanta.
- 2:02:20Speaker 1: Sasha Stewart. He had a lot to say that for
- 2:02:26Speaker 1: some reason fumble off today and I apologize over your intro.
- 2:02:29Speaker 1: But the CEO of the Fault of the Vault by
- 2:02:32Speaker 1: Sasha tell us about that. Thank you so much for
- 2:02:36Speaker 1: having me around. You know, two days ago I read
- 2:02:40Speaker 1: about you in the Rolling Out magazine article and video.
- 2:02:43Speaker 1: So you've been doing your doing a media run I have.
- 2:02:48Speaker 1: Oh my goodness, it's been a ride. I mean, it's
- 2:02:52Speaker 1: just so good to be recognized and you know, for
- 2:02:56Speaker 1: doing just something that I love to do, you know,
- 2:02:59Speaker 1: so it's it's been very wonderful. Um um My my
- 2:03:06Speaker 1: my loyal customer based it is just like, oh my gosh,
- 2:03:09Speaker 1: I'm so proud to because they see the growth from
- 2:03:12Speaker 1: you know, me starting out and tonight because we don't
- 2:03:16Speaker 1: know Sasha. And I'm not saying that negative thing because
- 2:03:19Speaker 1: sometimes people they jumped to the end of their story.
- 2:03:21Speaker 1: You have such a great story. Like I said some
- 2:03:23Speaker 1: in your credits, you and your mom was a fashion designer.
- 2:03:26Speaker 1: Talk about your mom and her influence that led you
- 2:03:29Speaker 1: to who you are today because technically you went into
- 2:03:31Speaker 1: the medical field. You felt that was gonna be your
- 2:03:34Speaker 1: life for the hours a week taking care of people,
- 2:03:36Speaker 1: but you peeled it out of that. So let's talk
- 2:03:38Speaker 1: about your mom's influence then going to medical school and
- 2:03:41Speaker 1: while in medical school I shouldn't say medical school with
- 2:03:44Speaker 1: the college and got your degrees of therapists and talk
- 2:03:47Speaker 1: about that whole experience with your mom leading to that. Yes, absolutely,
- 2:03:52Speaker 1: so my mom is a huge influence on while you
- 2:03:56Speaker 1: decided to go with entrepreneurship. She was a fashion designer
- 2:04:00Speaker 1: and she she loved it, she loved it, but I
- 2:04:04Speaker 1: think for me she wanted the stability, you know, so
- 2:04:07Speaker 1: she you know, encouraged me to go to school and
- 2:04:10Speaker 1: you know, get a degree and things like that. So
- 2:04:13Speaker 1: but as a kid, I it was already ingrained in me.
- 2:04:17Speaker 1: You know, all of these fabulous you know, fabrics and
- 2:04:21Speaker 1: silhouettes and things. So I'm just like I loved it.
- 2:04:24Speaker 1: And even in high school, I was voted best dressed.
- 2:04:28Speaker 1: I was you know, in the fashion club. We did
- 2:04:31Speaker 1: fashion shows and things like that. So that was just
- 2:04:34Speaker 1: a part of my outlet, like my creative outlet, and
- 2:04:38Speaker 1: and we just had fun doing it. So Um, as
- 2:04:42Speaker 1: a child, she would create, um, wedding dresses, prom dresses,
- 2:04:48Speaker 1: especially with ages. She even made her own wedding dress.
- 2:04:51Speaker 1: So it's all the creativity and everything has always been there.
- 2:04:56Speaker 1: So um, you know, growing up, she's like, you know,
- 2:04:58Speaker 1: always encouraging me to go to school, which is good.
- 2:05:01Speaker 1: And she's now she's a nurse. She's a I see
- 2:05:05Speaker 1: you nurse as well, so it was kind of following
- 2:05:06Speaker 1: her footsteps. My grand both of my grandmothers are also
- 2:05:10Speaker 1: nurses as well, so um, you know, they just like
- 2:05:14Speaker 1: the stability for me, just in case, because you know,
- 2:05:16Speaker 1: being an entrepreneur, being an entrepreneur is is hard, you know,
- 2:05:21Speaker 1: and you don't have that stability and that's actually what
- 2:05:25Speaker 1: drives me. So when I was in college and I
- 2:05:28Speaker 1: would want extra money to do things, you know, other
- 2:05:31Speaker 1: than pay tuition and things. So I would sell my
- 2:05:34Speaker 1: stuff on eBay and um, like anytime I needed to
- 2:05:40Speaker 1: get extra money and I didn't necessarily want to work
- 2:05:42Speaker 1: at extra ship, I would sell stuff and you know,
- 2:05:45Speaker 1: model it and you know, set it up on my
- 2:05:48Speaker 1: little I had like this area with you know, red lighting,
- 2:05:52Speaker 1: and I would you know, take all kinds of pictures
- 2:05:54Speaker 1: and stuff. So then like T shirts or time, I
- 2:06:03Speaker 1: was such a like I'm just like such a fashioned
- 2:06:08Speaker 1: person that I would like stalk sales. So if it
- 2:06:12Speaker 1: was a sale going on, I would get something on
- 2:06:15Speaker 1: sale and then get extra coupons and things on it
- 2:06:18Speaker 1: it was like a super cool item, or if it
- 2:06:21Speaker 1: was a really popular item, I would get those and
- 2:06:24Speaker 1: then you know, since it's limited, people would want it,
- 2:06:28Speaker 1: you know, and I would have it. So I would
- 2:06:31Speaker 1: have those limited edition pieces and know how highly covedent
- 2:06:35Speaker 1: they were, and people was just like you know, knocking
- 2:06:39Speaker 1: down my door like, oh my gosh, I need this.
- 2:06:40Speaker 1: Do you have to send another size? Can you get more?
- 2:06:43Speaker 1: So I knew at that time that this could be
- 2:06:47Speaker 1: a business for me, you know, but I was still
- 2:06:50Speaker 1: a little bit nervous to do that. So I still
- 2:06:53Speaker 1: kept going to school and everything, but you know, with
- 2:06:57Speaker 1: the you know, in the weekends and when I didn't
- 2:07:00Speaker 1: have school, I mean when I didn't have school, when
- 2:07:02Speaker 1: I didn't have work, I was just ready to take
- 2:07:04Speaker 1: off the scrubs and put on something cute. And people
- 2:07:07Speaker 1: would always ask me, oh, well, where'd you get that from,
- 2:07:10Speaker 1: the same how they would, you know, be on eBay
- 2:07:15Speaker 1: because you said something out that was really important about
- 2:07:17Speaker 1: your grandmother and your mom. They would there, your mom
- 2:07:20Speaker 1: is currently your nurse, you know, and your grandmother was
- 2:07:22Speaker 1: a nurse, and then you went into a medical align field.
- 2:07:25Speaker 1: That's a therapist. Okay, So and I know they're dealing
- 2:07:28Speaker 1: with COVID, well you are, tell them about your experience
- 2:07:32Speaker 1: and their experience and dealing with COVID in the reality,
- 2:07:34Speaker 1: because you know that's a that's a portion of the country.
- 2:07:37Speaker 1: Don't take COVID very seriously, and don't take mask wearing
- 2:07:41Speaker 1: very seriously. To us about that, it is very important.
- 2:07:47Speaker 1: You know. I'm very involved still with my UM. I'm
- 2:07:51Speaker 1: still licensed as a respiratory therapist. I haven't given that up.
- 2:07:55Speaker 1: UM don't. But you know, my mom being a nurse,
- 2:07:59Speaker 1: she deals with it every day. You know, she's she luckily,
- 2:08:03Speaker 1: thank god, she's been safe throughout it because she is very,
- 2:08:07Speaker 1: very careful. But she wears a mask. She wears a
- 2:08:10Speaker 1: mask every day at work all day. It's not you know,
- 2:08:13Speaker 1: taking it off and putting it back on, because you know,
- 2:08:16Speaker 1: it still does linger in the air and you may
- 2:08:18Speaker 1: get a whiff of it as soon as you take
- 2:08:19Speaker 1: your mask off, you know, especially in the hospital setting.
- 2:08:22Speaker 1: So every day she's exposed to that and it and
- 2:08:25Speaker 1: it concerns me. But I do know that she's you know,
- 2:08:28Speaker 1: really safe. Um. But yeah, a lot of her co
- 2:08:31Speaker 1: workers have gotten it. It's real. I've I've I've had
- 2:08:36Speaker 1: you know, people that I know got it. And you know,
- 2:08:39Speaker 1: I keep seeing all these different you know, Instagram people
- 2:08:43Speaker 1: and um, you know even people in the news that's
- 2:08:47Speaker 1: suching it. It's it's real and you have to be
- 2:08:51Speaker 1: diligent to not get it. Now. And this was something
- 2:08:55Speaker 1: I want to interest in your conversation. I try to
- 2:08:57Speaker 1: listen with people are talking. You're talking with your mom
- 2:08:59Speaker 1: and you the fashion designer and now she's a nurse.
- 2:09:02Speaker 1: And then will you say how why would you say
- 2:09:05Speaker 1: the importance of social media has enabled you to pivot
- 2:09:08Speaker 1: out of being in the medical field into the fashion
- 2:09:11Speaker 1: design field and be successful. How important is your social media? Um?
- 2:09:17Speaker 1: Social media is huge because that is one of the
- 2:09:22Speaker 1: biggest outlets out there to get anything that you want
- 2:09:27Speaker 1: to do. Like but Instagram, um, YouTube, let's see, um,
- 2:09:35Speaker 1: you know, Facebook, any all of these social media is
- 2:09:40Speaker 1: is very important to your business if you ask me,
- 2:09:43Speaker 1: because a lot of times that's where people just you know,
- 2:09:46Speaker 1: scroll and and you know they'll just they'll just find you.
- 2:09:52Speaker 1: You know, I'm not sure how these people find me
- 2:09:54Speaker 1: sometimes because I post. Like when they share your post,
- 2:09:57Speaker 1: they like your post, I go to your I've and
- 2:10:00Speaker 1: so it's all your feed line. And first of all,
- 2:10:03Speaker 1: your dynamic, you're you're very attractive, and and your clothes,
- 2:10:07Speaker 1: you know, they're not for everybody. And that's a positive
- 2:10:09Speaker 1: statement there, darn you know what I'm saying. That's right, everything,
- 2:10:14Speaker 1: it's not going to be for every guy, right right, right,
- 2:10:16Speaker 1: if you're willing to, you know, take a rent and
- 2:10:21Speaker 1: get out your comfort. Let's let's back up. This is
- 2:10:27Speaker 1: not this is not risk Gate clothes. So I'm just
- 2:10:29Speaker 1: wanting to say, you know this is this is not
- 2:10:32Speaker 1: church cloes either, but but this is like you know,
- 2:10:36Speaker 1: if you if you are a fashion confidence, you want
- 2:10:39Speaker 1: to see something unique, eclectic, like the word I messed
- 2:10:41Speaker 1: up in your intro eclectic different and shows your shapes,
- 2:10:46Speaker 1: your your your body, and you're not afraid to show
- 2:10:50Speaker 1: and and and show people that you feel good about yourself.
- 2:10:53Speaker 1: Did you feel you look good? And you will just
- 2:10:55Speaker 1: let everybody when you walk in the room, you want
- 2:10:57Speaker 1: to take control of the room. Well, she got the
- 2:10:59Speaker 1: pieces for you, okay, exactly. And I have a lot
- 2:11:02Speaker 1: of oversized things, and that was also what I think
- 2:11:06Speaker 1: attracted people to my store because I have so many
- 2:11:10Speaker 1: oversized items. Like even like something right now that I
- 2:11:13Speaker 1: have on this is actually like two sweaters and one
- 2:11:17Speaker 1: so it's like one you see one side it's a puncho,
- 2:11:20Speaker 1: so I can decide to put the other top on
- 2:11:23Speaker 1: top of here. So just like things like that that's
- 2:11:25Speaker 1: really unique that you can kind of switch out of
- 2:11:28Speaker 1: and you know, have fun with for one sleep puncho
- 2:11:32Speaker 1: and then it's a shirt underneath. So things like that,
- 2:11:35Speaker 1: I was trying to figure out what was going on.
- 2:11:36Speaker 1: That's what's going on. I see, I see full white
- 2:11:39Speaker 1: on the right. Now see this color like beautiful knitted
- 2:11:45Speaker 1: type design with three white buttons in the middle, and
- 2:11:48Speaker 1: it's like a short top okay, and has one sleeve
- 2:11:51Speaker 1: like a punch to the right. It almost feels like,
- 2:11:53Speaker 1: you know, a bullfighter. If I would say, if I
- 2:11:56Speaker 1: just say what you would look like she's like, what
- 2:11:59Speaker 1: the what the when the bullfighter comes by your baby
- 2:12:05Speaker 1: the way? But it's not that high to cut off
- 2:12:06Speaker 1: at the waitsline. It's really strict. That's pretty hard. I'm
- 2:12:11Speaker 1: glad you like my description. You know, they go, yeah, great,
- 2:12:18Speaker 1: So we're gonna do a online fast and the host
- 2:12:23Speaker 1: for the vault this is the vault, okay when Rushan
- 2:12:27Speaker 1: McDonald know he's gonna stomble a little bit, but he's
- 2:12:29Speaker 1: all good, okay, because let me just straighten that right now.
- 2:12:35Speaker 1: The Vault by s offers a variety of leting in
- 2:12:37Speaker 1: addictions rare and they clicked it. This is including the
- 2:12:40Speaker 1: swim where tops, bottoms and accessories to turn heads. We
- 2:12:44Speaker 1: already just at that and make a statement as your
- 2:12:46Speaker 1: next event. When your next event could be a pool party,
- 2:12:49Speaker 1: your next event could be walking into a club and
- 2:12:51Speaker 1: don't arrive a time you want to ride there late
- 2:12:53Speaker 1: when it's pack. When you walk in, people will go wait,
- 2:12:56Speaker 1: They're they're gonna post you on something. You're gonna be
- 2:13:00Speaker 1: You're going to be the one. Now that's really you know,
- 2:13:03Speaker 1: I you have to be confident. These are closed for
- 2:13:06Speaker 1: a confident person. Correct, Yes, yeah, I believe so. And
- 2:13:11Speaker 1: the thing is, even if you're not that confident and
- 2:13:15Speaker 1: you wear these items and then you get all these compliments,
- 2:13:19Speaker 1: and then you're gonna be like, wow, oh my gosh,
- 2:13:21Speaker 1: like maybe I can, you know, be a little bit
- 2:13:24Speaker 1: more adventurous with my clothing. So and then you know,
- 2:13:28Speaker 1: I did, and I had so many repeat customers because
- 2:13:31Speaker 1: of that. They're like, oh my gosh, I got so
- 2:13:33Speaker 1: many compliments on your items. I'm definitely shopping again. You
- 2:13:37Speaker 1: made my birthday great or oh my gosh, I was
- 2:13:40Speaker 1: the head turner at this event. Tell me that all
- 2:13:44Speaker 1: the time, and it makes me so happy. That's Good's
- 2:13:47Speaker 1: good to know. So what are you doing with these
- 2:13:50Speaker 1: people who are like telling you they hurt? Are you
- 2:13:52Speaker 1: like like like you need to have a vault day?
- 2:13:55Speaker 1: You know what I'm saying? Well, you you do, like,
- 2:13:57Speaker 1: uh display all these fashion you know, because because you know,
- 2:14:01Speaker 1: Rihanna does that really well. I love Rihanna. Rihanna gets
- 2:14:04Speaker 1: regular folks commercials, you know that. I mean they're regular
- 2:14:08Speaker 1: people too. They do a commercials and they sell and
- 2:14:10Speaker 1: so you're telling me, really, in a sense, you got
- 2:14:13Speaker 1: regular people who buy your clothes and they marvel at
- 2:14:16Speaker 1: your clothes. I would love to see some of them reposted,
- 2:14:19Speaker 1: you know, not saying I follow you all the time
- 2:14:22Speaker 1: and go to your feet all the time, but I'd
- 2:14:23Speaker 1: love to see some of those reposts of individuals doing
- 2:14:26Speaker 1: videos and things like that, because you really really got
- 2:14:29Speaker 1: a great line. Thank you. They do. They tag me
- 2:14:32Speaker 1: all the time, and they look amazing. Because then people
- 2:14:37Speaker 1: will think like, am I gonna look like you and
- 2:14:39Speaker 1: it or it's it gonna look right on me? Yes
- 2:14:42Speaker 1: it is. And then when they see and then they
- 2:14:45Speaker 1: are so happy, and I repost them all the time,
- 2:14:48Speaker 1: and like in my stories, I'm always they send me
- 2:14:50Speaker 1: pictures all the time, and if it has a great
- 2:14:53Speaker 1: lighting and you can still see the item, I'm like, oh,
- 2:14:56Speaker 1: you're reposting, reposting, reposted. So if you look on there,
- 2:15:01Speaker 1: if you look at my feet, it's it's plenty of
- 2:15:03Speaker 1: customer satisfactor. Yeah, Now let's talk about you as an entrepreneur.
- 2:15:08Speaker 1: You know, but like I said, uh, you still I
- 2:15:11Speaker 1: love the fact that you still certified aspiratory thirties. You know.
- 2:15:15Speaker 1: I think that if you have a degree and you
- 2:15:17Speaker 1: have something that you can put on your wall, maintain
- 2:15:20Speaker 1: ownership of that. You know, it's gonna very hard for
- 2:15:24Speaker 1: that and then be saying five years now, you go,
- 2:15:27Speaker 1: I should still be certified because it's a good story.
- 2:15:30Speaker 1: It's a good story to tell about your career to
- 2:15:32Speaker 1: say you still license, you licensed to save lives. Let's
- 2:15:35Speaker 1: be real about this, you know, and you're not licensed
- 2:15:38Speaker 1: to for it to be your b plan. You're not
- 2:15:40Speaker 1: going back. But it's something it's part of your legacy,
- 2:15:42Speaker 1: part of your your education that you that you spent
- 2:15:46Speaker 1: hours and years to accomplish. Maintain that. I admire that.
- 2:15:50Speaker 1: Now now you're entrepreneur, entrepreneur branding you know. Uh how
- 2:15:55Speaker 1: let's let's let's break down this conversation a little bit, Brandon,
- 2:15:58Speaker 1: talk about that what is the brand of SAH? So
- 2:16:03Speaker 1: with branding, I feel like you have to be authentic,
- 2:16:08Speaker 1: completely authentic, completely you. So the vault is me, you know,
- 2:16:14Speaker 1: So I'm giving pieces of myself too to whoever is
- 2:16:20Speaker 1: wanting some basically, you know what I mean as far
- 2:16:23Speaker 1: as my creativity and and I just like I said,
- 2:16:28Speaker 1: I'm so grateful that people see my vision and they're
- 2:16:31Speaker 1: like willing to take rest with their fashions. So with branding,
- 2:16:37Speaker 1: you have to say true and authentic to who you are,
- 2:16:41Speaker 1: because after a while, it's gonna show like if you're
- 2:16:44Speaker 1: not like you know, you were the same, you were
- 2:16:46Speaker 1: this person at first, and then you really couldn't keep
- 2:16:49Speaker 1: up the facade and then next thing, you know, like
- 2:16:52Speaker 1: things are not the same or you you know, you're
- 2:16:55Speaker 1: gonna end up being exposed, you know what I mean.
- 2:16:57Speaker 1: So it's just better to just be yourself and just
- 2:17:04Speaker 1: just you know, just what you said, You've said it,
- 2:17:08Speaker 1: you know, in the sense, to be with yourself, Be authentic,
- 2:17:10Speaker 1: be consistent. That's true, right there, Be consistent because I
- 2:17:14Speaker 1: would tell people you can fake it. You heard that,
- 2:17:17Speaker 1: turn fake it till you make it. That doesn't work
- 2:17:18Speaker 1: it in social media to me, because it's gonna play
- 2:17:21Speaker 1: itself out and you're gonna lose your followers and lose
- 2:17:23Speaker 1: what you're saying. Your authenticity. You have to be organic
- 2:17:26Speaker 1: and you have to be consistent. That's the that's the
- 2:17:28Speaker 1: term I always use them when I'm talking about branding,
- 2:17:30Speaker 1: talking about marketing. Is that your idea? If you want
- 2:17:33Speaker 1: to push it out there, you can't push it on
- 2:17:34Speaker 1: Tuesday and forget to do it till two weeks later
- 2:17:37Speaker 1: and then go, Okay, where's my reaction? Now? You have
- 2:17:42Speaker 1: to be consistent for sure. Let's talk about let's talk
- 2:17:44Speaker 1: about you. You You know your fashion, you was inspired by
- 2:17:46Speaker 1: your mom, and we know you're smart, we know you're beautiful.
- 2:17:49Speaker 1: How do let's talk about the the the actual brand,
- 2:17:52Speaker 1: actual clothes, the actual product. How does that go about
- 2:17:56Speaker 1: being created? And are you tied to a distributor or
- 2:18:00Speaker 1: what does that work? No, I actually have several that
- 2:18:06Speaker 1: I work with, so you know, you gotta mix it
- 2:18:09Speaker 1: up a little bit because, uh then a lot of
- 2:18:13Speaker 1: people will start following you, and uh like other brands
- 2:18:18Speaker 1: will start following you and just kind of doing every
- 2:18:21Speaker 1: single thing that you're doing in that are doing their
- 2:18:24Speaker 1: own head. So I have to mix it up. So
- 2:18:27Speaker 1: that's what I do. It's you know, it's I have
- 2:18:31Speaker 1: people from all over the world that I work with,
- 2:18:34Speaker 1: and it just keeps it mixed up keeps it spicy,
- 2:18:38Speaker 1: but also still maintains the integrity of the vault and
- 2:18:43Speaker 1: what I'm trying to express, uh as far as you know,
- 2:18:46Speaker 1: creative to wise, uniqueness and things like that. So yeah,
- 2:18:51Speaker 1: it's hard, and that's a full time job in itself,
- 2:18:54Speaker 1: just looking for the merchandise and sourcing the things that
- 2:18:58Speaker 1: I want to put in the store, for sure. So
- 2:19:01Speaker 1: you have to put in the vault going every day.
- 2:19:04Speaker 1: I'm branding you now, put in the vault, not the store.
- 2:19:07Speaker 1: Put in the vault. It's a funny thing about you know,
- 2:19:11Speaker 1: when I look at my brand and watch you going
- 2:19:13Speaker 1: and periodically where my more staff we do weekly meetings,
- 2:19:16Speaker 1: and then I see that, you know, people in Ireland,
- 2:19:19Speaker 1: uh listening and following my you know, Australia have a
- 2:19:24Speaker 1: big follow In Australia, we were like, really, okay, I
- 2:19:27Speaker 1: got Canada, I expect Canada, but when we started going
- 2:19:30Speaker 1: to Ireland and Germany and in Australia kind of like wow,
- 2:19:35Speaker 1: and I know you, I know you're a person that
- 2:19:37Speaker 1: starts to understand your brand, but what places surprise you
- 2:19:41Speaker 1: that you have started to develop your following. Um UK.
- 2:19:46Speaker 1: I was so that people in the UK we're talking.
- 2:19:53Speaker 1: The fashions in the UK are so amazing. I think
- 2:19:57Speaker 1: that they're so fashionable and chice and just you know,
- 2:20:02Speaker 1: very sophisticated. So I'm like, wow, like that type of
- 2:20:06Speaker 1: customer is looking for me. I shipped worldwide. And also
- 2:20:11Speaker 1: my my both of my parents are Jamaican, and I
- 2:20:15Speaker 1: got recognized and that um and the Jamaican Observer, which
- 2:20:21Speaker 1: is the Jamaica's number one newspaper, And it was funny.
- 2:20:24Speaker 1: I didn't even know that my my dad. I called
- 2:20:27Speaker 1: my dad because I got it and I got a
- 2:20:30Speaker 1: email and my dad and I was like Jamaican Observer.
- 2:20:34Speaker 1: I was like, okay, let me check that out. So
- 2:20:36Speaker 1: I said, let me call my dad. And my dad's
- 2:20:38Speaker 1: super smart, the history buff like super smart. So I
- 2:20:42Speaker 1: was like yeah, I said, um, I said, you have
- 2:20:44Speaker 1: a kind of the Jamaican Observer. Um um um um
- 2:20:48Speaker 1: dead um all um um um all this. Really you've
- 2:21:06Speaker 1: been classy. You've been classy, You've been everything, got this
- 2:21:10Speaker 1: beautiful top on, teeth clean everything. Um dad. Okay, I'm okay,
- 2:21:15Speaker 1: I want to check myself. Okay, I just wanted to
- 2:21:18Speaker 1: check myself. So I said that you've heard of the
- 2:21:23Speaker 1: Jamaican Observer and he's like, of course, He's like, that's
- 2:21:26Speaker 1: our that's our main newspaper. So I was like really,
- 2:21:30Speaker 1: and I said, well, they wanna interview me? He's like really,
- 2:21:35Speaker 1: I said yeah. So I was super surprised than Jamaica
- 2:21:39Speaker 1: even wanted to, you know, feature me, and um, I
- 2:21:46Speaker 1: heard that now, I heard, um you. I didn't even
- 2:21:58Speaker 1: realize until you said, Okay, so yes, well, you know,
- 2:22:03Speaker 1: let's let's talk about one. You know, it's you know,
- 2:22:06Speaker 1: we're coming to the end of this year and I'm
- 2:22:08Speaker 1: a planner. You're a planner. You know, your your visionary.
- 2:22:12Speaker 1: You know we're fashion and fashion this seasonal. You know,
- 2:22:15Speaker 1: you you know what you're doing the summer. You can't
- 2:22:17Speaker 1: do the fall with you doing the phone, you can't
- 2:22:19Speaker 1: do in the spring. Okay, what what are we looking for? What? What? What? What? What?
- 2:22:23Speaker 1: I did you have on the world of fashion that
- 2:22:26Speaker 1: you're gonna bring to you know, to the ladies. Well, I,
- 2:22:32Speaker 1: like I said, I'm always tuned in, so I'm always
- 2:22:38Speaker 1: looking at trends. And I don't usually follow trends, but
- 2:22:43Speaker 1: I'll look at them so I kind of see what
- 2:22:46Speaker 1: they're watching in the world is going and of course,
- 2:22:49Speaker 1: so I'm so aware of this now that trying not
- 2:22:57Speaker 1: I love, I loved you know, I've been down the
- 2:23:05Speaker 1: interviews this country. My instagram follows on fire and he
- 2:23:10Speaker 1: called it um um dad um um. Oh my gosh.
- 2:23:20Speaker 1: So and I just anything that's different is going to
- 2:23:27Speaker 1: catch my eyes. So anything depending on um, you know,
- 2:23:33Speaker 1: like you said, the season, but summertime, I'm gonna make
- 2:23:36Speaker 1: sure that you know, it's gonna be nice, cool colors, cotton,
- 2:23:41Speaker 1: organic cottons and everything is definitely very important because you
- 2:23:46Speaker 1: want to stay cool and cute. So I try not
- 2:23:48Speaker 1: to do a lot of synthetic fabrics and stuff in
- 2:23:50Speaker 1: the summer and things that's also gonna camouflage things that
- 2:23:56Speaker 1: you may not be somewhere ready for, you know. So
- 2:24:00Speaker 1: that's what I because all the time the Vault by
- 2:24:06Speaker 1: Sasha is it is it your store or it is
- 2:24:09Speaker 1: the People's store? What is it? It is? It's the
- 2:24:13Speaker 1: people's store. Okay, it's it's it's the people's store for sure,
- 2:24:18Speaker 1: But it's my my vision, my vision, yeah, or what
- 2:24:26Speaker 1: I want the people to wear people because because that's
- 2:24:30Speaker 1: what a lot of people can get. Because you're so
- 2:24:33Speaker 1: you're you're you have an opinion, and which is good
- 2:24:35Speaker 1: because in fast you gotta have an opinion because your
- 2:24:37Speaker 1: opinion has to be able to cut through the clutter
- 2:24:39Speaker 1: the noise of what people should wear and should not wear.
- 2:24:43Speaker 1: And also you have to be um confident. And that's
- 2:24:46Speaker 1: what I said. I'm saying as a buyer, she's a
- 2:24:49Speaker 1: confident person because she's going in saying, you know something
- 2:24:52Speaker 1: like that topic you have on I'm telling it's fantastic.
- 2:24:54Speaker 1: That's a beautiful top tier. And anybody who's watching the video,
- 2:24:58Speaker 1: I know it's plays back on podcasts if you can
- 2:24:59Speaker 1: get about YouTube channel to see this tops outstanding? Is
- 2:25:03Speaker 1: this topic a viral? This is really great, It's really
- 2:25:06Speaker 1: it's really walk in. You know you you're a nightclub Look,
- 2:25:09Speaker 1: you know you can you can wear that in church
- 2:25:12Speaker 1: right there? That's that's a church topics. Absolutely see she'd
- 2:25:15Speaker 1: go to church. I'm telling when you get a top
- 2:25:18Speaker 1: that you can wear the church in the nightclub. I'm
- 2:25:28Speaker 1: talking about girl. You know you're coming from the nightclub
- 2:25:31Speaker 1: at two o'clock in the morning. You time you just
- 2:25:35Speaker 1: fall asleep in your bed, you just get on up
- 2:25:38Speaker 1: and go to churches praise the Lord in the nightclub look,
- 2:25:41Speaker 1: and nobody will know. Nobody, I'm telling you. And that's
- 2:25:51Speaker 1: the thing. I don't have a lot of provocative clothes
- 2:25:55Speaker 1: in the ball. So, like I said, it's oversize things.
- 2:25:59Speaker 1: It's cool silhouettes, its patterns, mixed prints, things like that.
- 2:26:04Speaker 1: So it's definitely wearable in so many different circumstances. Well,
- 2:26:08Speaker 1: so I've already told you, Okay, the Vault by Slasha,
- 2:26:12Speaker 1: you know she's gonna she's gonna turn it out in
- 2:26:15Speaker 1: one she's already turning out. Instagram is on fire. And
- 2:26:18Speaker 1: I asked that question because I wanted to know, because
- 2:26:20Speaker 1: you know, the Vault by Sasha is a clothing line
- 2:26:23Speaker 1: design for the people. But now she didn't said clothing lines, accessories,
- 2:26:27Speaker 1: you know, tops, swimwears all these things that make you
- 2:26:31Speaker 1: look good and feel good. And he also has the
- 2:26:33Speaker 1: clothes that, you know, if you don't feel good about
- 2:26:35Speaker 1: certain parts of your body, you can She has fashion
- 2:26:37Speaker 1: that can hide the little thing and to make you
- 2:26:39Speaker 1: still look like you've got it going on. And when
- 2:26:41Speaker 1: you walk in that room, you know, everything is still flowing,
- 2:26:43Speaker 1: everything is still rolling right, left and right. And she
- 2:26:46Speaker 1: has oversized clothes, full figure clothes. So These are things
- 2:26:49Speaker 1: that you can look at in the vault by Sasha
- 2:26:52Speaker 1: and walk away with a smile on your face. I
- 2:26:54Speaker 1: want to thank you for coming on my sol sauce.
- 2:26:56Speaker 1: You know, I know I've been messing with you finding me.
- 2:27:00Speaker 1: You're so funny, you know the ba Jamaica y'all. Mom,
- 2:27:05Speaker 1: you know I'm saying. You know I read don't go,
- 2:27:14Speaker 1: you make it happen. But again, I'm I'm so proud
- 2:27:17Speaker 1: that the fact that you as an entrepreneur because I
- 2:27:20Speaker 1: Ustory five am and so I knew it was a
- 2:27:23Speaker 1: hard decision to walk away from Guarantee Health Interfits retirement.
- 2:27:28Speaker 1: And like I said, the job you had in the
- 2:27:30Speaker 1: medical field, that's not going anywhere. It's an in demand profession,
- 2:27:33Speaker 1: especially with COVID, it's really in demand right now. And
- 2:27:37Speaker 1: so but you know, but you have to follow your dream.
- 2:27:39Speaker 1: You have to be committed to a plan that it's
- 2:27:41Speaker 1: gonna make you feel good about yourself when you wake
- 2:27:43Speaker 1: up in the morning. And I your smile is fantastic,
- 2:27:46Speaker 1: and I always know that. You know, if you haven't
- 2:27:48Speaker 1: when you want to launch your name, let me know.
- 2:27:50Speaker 1: I have my team posted on my social media. Have
- 2:27:55Speaker 1: I really appreciate that I got you. I got you
- 2:27:58Speaker 1: because I have some events coming there. You go, like,

- 2:28:10Speaker 1: a fashion show coming up. It's a lot of fashion.
- 2:28:15Speaker 1: It's a lot of fashion show virtually this no, this
- 2:28:19Speaker 1: virtual as well. Okay, but I do have some special
- 2:28:24Speaker 1: invite to guests if you live in Atlanta, because I
- 2:28:27Speaker 1: didn't want to, you know, do like a huge thing
- 2:28:30Speaker 1: that second invite only um at the events space. It's
- 2:28:35Speaker 1: gonna be in Buckhead. But if you would like to
- 2:28:38Speaker 1: watch it, okay, I like to because you I gotta
