- 0:00Mark Chapter 2. When he had come back to
- 0:03Capernaum several days afterward, it was heard that he
- 0:05was at home, and many were gathered together so that there
- 0:09was no longer room, not even near the door.
- 0:11And he was speaking the word to them.
- 0:13And they came bringing to him a paralytic carried by 4 men.
- 0:17Being unable to get to him because of the crowd, they
- 0:20removed the roof above him. When they had dug an opening,
- 0:23they let down the pallet on which the paralytic was lying.
- 0:27And Jesus, seeing their faith, said to the paralytic, Son, your
- 0:30sins are forgiven. But some of the scribes were
- 0:33sitting there and reasoning in their hearts, Why does this man
- 0:36speak that way? He's blaspheming.
- 0:39Who can forgive sins but God alone?
- 0:42Immediately Jesus, aware in his Spirit that they were reasoning
- 0:45that way within themselves, said to them, Why are you reasoning
- 0:48about these things in your hearts?
- 0:50Which is easier to say to the paralytic, Your sins are
- 0:53forgiven, or to say get up and pick up your pallet and walk.
- 0:57But so that you may know that the Son of Man has authority on
- 1:00earth to forgive sins, He said to the paralytic, I say to you,
- 1:05get up, pick up your pallet and go home.
- 1:09And he got up and immediately picked up the pallet and went
- 1:11out in the sight of everyone so that they were all amazed and
- 1:15were glorifying God, saying, we've never seen anything like
- 1:18this. And he went out again by the
- 1:20seashore, and all the people were coming to him, and he was
- 1:23teaching them. As he passed by, he saw Levi the
- 1:26son of Alpheus sitting in the tax booth.
- 1:29And he said to him, Follow me. And he got up and followed him.
- 1:34And it happened that he was reclining at the table in his
- 1:36house, and many tax collectors and sinners were dining with
- 1:39Jesus and his disciples, for there were many of them, and
- 1:43they were following him. When the scribes of the
- 1:45Pharisees saw that he was eating with the sinners and tax
- 1:48collectors, they said to his disciples, Why is he eating and
- 1:51drinking with tax collectors and sinners?
- 1:54And hearing this, Jesus said to them, It is not those who are
- 1:57healthy who need a physician, but those who are sick.
- 2:01I did not come to call the righteous, but sinners.
- 2:05John's disciples and the Pharisees were fasting, and they
- 2:07came and said to him, Why do John's disciples and the
- 2:10disciples of the Pharisees fast, but your disciples do not fast?
- 2:14And Jesus said to them, while the bridegroom is with them, the
- 2:18attendants of the bridegroom cannot fast, can they?
- 2:20So long as they have the bridegroom with them, they
- 2:23cannot fast. But the days will come when the
- 2:25bridegroom is taken away from them, and then they will fast in
- 2:28that day. No one sews a patch of unshrunk
- 2:31cloth on an old garment, Otherwise the patch pulls away
- 2:34from it, the new from the old, and a worse tear results.
- 2:39No one puts new wine in old wine skins, otherwise the wine will
- 2:43burst the skins, and the wine is lost in the skins as well.
- 2:47But one puts new wine into fresh wine skins.
- 2:51And it happened that he was passing through the grain fields
- 2:54on the Sabbath, and his disciples began to make their
- 2:56way along while picking the heads of grain.
- 2:59The Pharisees were saying to him, look, why are they doing
- 3:02what is not lawful on the Sabbath?
- 3:05And he said to them, Have you never read what David did when
- 3:08he was in need, and he and his companions became hungry?
- 3:11How He entered the House of God in the time of Abiathar the high
- 3:15priest and ate the consecrated bread which is not lawful for
- 3:18anyone to eat except the priests.
- 3:21He also gave it to those who are with him.
- 3:23Jesus said to them the Sabbath was made for man and not man for
- 3:27the Sabbath. So the Son of Man is Lord even
- 3:30of the Sabbath.
