- 0:01Speaker 1: Welcome. It is Verdicate Center, Ted Cruz Ben Ferguson with you.
- 0:04Speaker 1: We are a day late, but it's because when we
- 0:07Speaker 1: tried to do the show last night, we had major
- 0:10Speaker 1: technical difficulties and couldn't get the connections right. So that's
- 0:13Speaker 1: why we're coming with you today on this show putting
- 0:17Speaker 1: out on Tuesday. The good news is we've had some
- 0:20Speaker 1: unbelievable news. It's broken and so they could be a
- 0:22Speaker 1: blessing in disguise. And one of the big issues that
- 0:26Speaker 1: is broken, Centator is the President Nights It's America has
- 0:29Speaker 1: made every liberal lose their mind because he's actually trying
- 0:31Speaker 1: to fight crime in Washington, d C. And they're saying
- 0:34Speaker 1: he's a dictator and a tyrant for doing this.
- 0:36Speaker 2: Well. Today, on Monday, the President made a bold announcement
- 0:41Speaker 2: that the federal government is federalizing the DC police force,
- 0:44Speaker 2: that they are going to fight violent crime in DC.
- 0:48Speaker 2: They're going to tackle the out of control murder rates,
- 0:50Speaker 2: the violent crimes, the carjackings that have plagued that city,
- 0:54Speaker 2: plague that city because of left wing policies that have
- 0:58Speaker 2: undermined the ability of the police to actually protect the
- 1:01Speaker 2: residents there. And you're right. This has Democrats and this
- 1:05Speaker 2: has the media losing their minds. How dare a president
- 1:09Speaker 2: of the United States actually stand up against violent criminals.
- 1:12Speaker 2: We're gonna break that down. We're gonna explain to you
- 1:14Speaker 2: exactly what he did. We're gonna explain to you the
- 1:16Speaker 2: legal basis for why he can do so. We're also
- 1:19Speaker 2: gonna explain why DC is different. One of the talking
- 1:22Speaker 2: points you're seeing on television right now is well, he's
- 1:24Speaker 2: going to do this in every country, every city in
- 1:28Speaker 2: the country. He's just going to take over every city
- 1:30Speaker 2: in America. And I don't think that's right. I don't
- 1:33Speaker 2: think that's going to happen. D C is qualitatively different quality,
- 1:36Speaker 2: constitutionally and legally. We're gonna explain to you why. We're
- 1:40Speaker 2: also going to talk about another order President Trump put
- 1:43Speaker 2: out again targeting bad guys, but in this case drug cartels,
- 1:47Speaker 2: where he has directed the military to use military force
- 1:50Speaker 2: to go after drug cartels as terrorists, terrorists who are
- 1:54Speaker 2: endangering American lives. Again, this is something that Democrats are
- 1:59Speaker 2: deeply up said about. It seems there's nothing that could
- 2:01Speaker 2: upset a Democrat more than law enforcement actually going after
- 2:06Speaker 2: murderers or rapists or gang members. And that's exactly what
- 2:11Speaker 2: President Trump is doing. And by the way, that's exactly
- 2:13Speaker 2: what he promised the voters he would do if he
- 2:15Speaker 2: was elected.
- 2:18Speaker 1: Yeah, no doubt about it. We're going to get into
- 2:19Speaker 1: all of that. I want to tell you real quick
- 2:21Speaker 1: about my friends over at Patriot Mobile. And you've got
- 2:23Speaker 1: a lot of choices with your cell phone service, but
- 2:26Speaker 1: there's one company that I would love for you to
- 2:29Speaker 1: know about and switch to. And I'm going to save
- 2:31Speaker 1: you a bunch of money and let you try it.
- 2:33Speaker 1: Give you a free month of service, because every time
- 2:36Speaker 1: you make the switch Patriot Mobile, you're actually going to
- 2:39Speaker 1: send up for what you believe in. That's what Patriot
- 2:42Speaker 1: Mobile does and they have hundreds of thousands of Americans
- 2:45Speaker 1: that have now joined them. They've been open for well
- 2:48Speaker 1: over ten years. I use them, and you get amazing coverage.
- 2:52Speaker 1: One of the number one reasons why people say they
- 2:54Speaker 1: don't want to switch is they're worried about coverage. Well,
- 2:57Speaker 1: don't worry about that. Patriot Mobile used all three major
- 2:59Speaker 1: US netw it works. And if you've got service in
- 3:02Speaker 1: this country right now where you are, good news is
- 3:04Speaker 1: you're gonna get that same great coverage or even better
- 3:07Speaker 1: with Patriot Mobile. Now you may say, all right, well,
- 3:10Speaker 1: switching is a hassle. It did used to be. That's
- 3:12Speaker 1: one of the reasons why people didn't change. Well, now
- 3:15Speaker 1: it's so easy. You can literally do it over the phone.
- 3:18Speaker 1: You keep your same number. You've got now keep your
- 3:20Speaker 1: same phone or upgrade to a new one, and the
- 3:22Speaker 1: one hundred percent US based team at Patriot Mobile can
- 3:25Speaker 1: get you activated literally in minutes from the comfort of
- 3:28Speaker 1: your home or your office. And if you're stuck in
- 3:30Speaker 1: a contract or owe money on your phones, no worries.
- 3:33Speaker 1: Patriot Mobile has a contract buyout program, and that is
- 3:37Speaker 1: exactly why I'm saying, what are you waiting on? Now?
- 3:40Speaker 1: Here's the best part. When you pay your bill, about
- 3:42Speaker 1: five percent of your bill every month goes back to
- 3:44Speaker 1: support conservative causes. That is, putting your money with your values.
- 3:49Speaker 1: They stand up for your first your Second Amendment rights,
- 3:51Speaker 1: the rights of unborn children. They stand with our veterans
- 3:53Speaker 1: or first responders, and are wounded warriors. So what are
- 3:57Speaker 1: you waiting for? Make the switch and make difference to
- 4:00Speaker 1: every call you make. Now, let me give you that
- 4:02Speaker 1: free month of service as well. Go to Patriotmobile dot
- 4:05Speaker 1: com slash verdict. That's Patriot mobile dot com slash vertict
- 4:09Speaker 1: or nine seven to two Patriot. Use the promo code vertict.
- 4:13Speaker 1: You're gonna gonna have a free month of service. Switch
- 4:15Speaker 1: today Patriot mobile dot com slash verdict or nine seven
- 4:19Speaker 1: to two Patriot. All right, so, Senator, you and I
- 4:21Speaker 1: are doing the show, and just a half hour ago,
- 4:24Speaker 1: I got off of yelling at the commis over at CNN.
- 4:28Speaker 1: They're literally unhinged right now, going insane over the fact
- 4:32Speaker 1: that that would be trying to fight crime. That would
- 4:35Speaker 1: be all of them, Yes, that would be all of them.
- 4:37Speaker 1: And it was hysterical because they're like, well, this is
- 4:40Speaker 1: what dictators and tyrants. He I was like, hold on
- 4:41Speaker 1: a second, dictators and tyrants are trying to put criminals
- 4:45Speaker 1: in jail and save people's lives. That's your talking point, Like, well,
- 4:49Speaker 1: where's he gonna stop if he does this in d C.
- 4:51Speaker 1: I'm like, well, he did it in DC because there's
- 4:53Speaker 1: special rules for DC. There's a reason why I did
- 4:56Speaker 1: it there, and he's not done it anywhere else. They're like, well,
- 4:58Speaker 1: you know, he's just gonna do there can be a
- 5:00Speaker 1: dictator and take over La or Baltimore. I'm like, you
- 5:03Speaker 1: guys are crazy. And again you're angry at Donald Trump
- 5:06Speaker 1: for fighting crime, which is out of control in DC,
- 5:09Speaker 1: a place you spend a large part of your week
- 5:11Speaker 1: every week.
- 5:12Speaker 2: Well, look, DC has gotten seriously dangerous and and I'll
- 5:17Speaker 2: tell you, people going to work in d C, people
- 5:20Speaker 2: living in DC are concerned for their safety. They're concerned
- 5:23Speaker 2: for the safety of their families. They're concerned for the
- 5:25Speaker 2: safety of their spouses and their children. You know, Rand
- 5:29Speaker 2: Paul had a Capitol Hill staffer who was stabbed walking
- 5:34Speaker 2: along the sidewalk in the middle of the afternoon. There
- 5:37Speaker 2: was a man who served in the first Trump administration
- 5:39Speaker 2: who was in his car at five pm on the streets.
- 5:43Speaker 2: He was shot in the head and murdered. This violence
- 5:48Speaker 2: is the direct result of disastrous Democrat policies that have
- 5:53Speaker 2: handcuffed the police, that that have limited the ability of
- 5:57Speaker 2: the police to go after violent criminals. And the result
- 6:00Speaker 2: is d C has become a very dangerous place. So
- 6:02Speaker 2: what happened President Trump Monday morning? He announced it a
- 6:06Speaker 2: press conference, quote, this is Liberation Day in d C.
- 6:10Speaker 2: And We're going to take our capital back. And he
- 6:13Speaker 2: declared a public safety emergency, and he took two actions.
- 6:18Speaker 2: Number one, he invoked section seven forty of the d
- 6:21Speaker 2: C Home Rule Act, placing the DC Police directly under
- 6:25Speaker 2: federal control. And number two, he signed a memorandum to
- 6:29Speaker 2: the Secretary of Defense to utilize the National Guard. He
- 6:32Speaker 2: placed DA administrator Terry Cole as the interim Federal Commissioner
- 6:37Speaker 2: of DC Police, and he also announced plans to temporarily
- 6:42Speaker 2: reassign one hundred and twenty FBI agents in d C
- 6:47Speaker 2: to night time patrol duties. All of that was announced
- 6:51Speaker 2: today and the reason he did it is he walked
- 6:54Speaker 2: about the statistics about DC crime. D C's murder rate
- 7:00Speaker 2: is higher than that of many cities around the globe.
- 7:04Speaker 2: DC's murder rate is higher than Bogota, Columbia. DC has
- 7:08Speaker 2: one of the highest murder rates among large US cities nationwide.
- 7:12Speaker 2: The homicide rate is more than twenty seven murders per
- 7:16Speaker 2: one hundred thousand residents. That was in twenty twenty four.
- 7:19Speaker 2: Vehicle theft in DC is more than three times the
- 7:24Speaker 2: national average, with eight hundred and forty two point four
- 7:28Speaker 2: thefts per hundred thousand residents. It is among the most
- 7:33Speaker 2: dangerous cities globally, and in recent years, the number of
- 7:37Speaker 2: car thefts has doubled and the number of car jackings
- 7:43Speaker 2: has tripled. Look, I had actually while I was recording Verdict.
- 7:47Speaker 2: I don't know if you know this story, but years
- 7:48Speaker 2: ago when Verdict just started, while I was recording Verdict,
- 7:52Speaker 2: we had the truck that I was driving in parked
- 7:56Speaker 2: on the d C streets and we went down to
- 7:58Speaker 2: the TV studios and Basic for that. And while the
- 8:02Speaker 2: truck was on the street, someone broke into the windows,
- 8:06Speaker 2: shattered them open, and stole my briefcase, took my briefcase
- 8:09Speaker 2: with my computer and my iPad and and took the
- 8:12Speaker 2: whole thing.
- 8:13Speaker 1: You didn't have classified documents in there, did you? You know?
- 8:15Speaker 1: I did not have them randomly there. Okay, I'm liking sure,
- 8:19Speaker 1: Otherwise that would have been some big news here.
- 8:22Speaker 2: Unlike Joe Biden, I've never removed classified documents from a secure,
- 8:26Speaker 2: compartmentalized facility. Unlike Sandy Berger, who was Bill Clinton's National
- 8:30Speaker 2: security advisor, I've never stuffed classified documents in my underwear
- 8:34Speaker 2: or in my socks to try to smuggle them out.
- 8:36Speaker 2: So no, it was just annoying. And by the way,
- 8:40Speaker 2: here's a stat about carjackings. In recent years, the number
- 8:44Speaker 2: of carjackings in in DC has tripled. And one of
- 8:50Speaker 2: those victims of carjackings was was Congressman Henry Quayar, a
- 8:54Speaker 2: Texas congressman. Again, it was the evening time. He was
- 8:58Speaker 2: just coming home with his dinner and he was carjacked
- 9:02Speaker 2: in front of his apartment where apparently numerous members of
- 9:09Speaker 2: Congress live in this apartment building. And he, a member
- 9:13Speaker 2: of Congress, was carjacked. And so President Trump is acting directly.
- 9:18Speaker 2: And apparently one of the motivations from this is that
- 9:23Speaker 2: a White House staffer named Edward Chorusta, and he's a
- 9:28Speaker 2: DOGE staffer, and his nickname is big Balls. And I
- 9:32Speaker 2: will say, by the way, one of the funniest things
- 9:33Speaker 2: I've ever seen is because he was working in DOGE,
- 9:36Speaker 2: it forced Data Bash and CNN to say the words
- 9:39Speaker 2: big Balls like nineteen different times on air, which I
- 9:43Speaker 2: have to admit I couldn't watch the segment without doubling
- 9:46Speaker 2: over laughing. Well, apparently, this young man, unfortunately was assaulted
- 9:51Speaker 2: over the weekend by about ten juveniles near DuPont Circle.
- 9:55Speaker 2: And so when a nineteen year old staffer in the
- 9:58Speaker 2: White House can't be safe in DC. The president, I think,
- 10:01Speaker 2: should act and that's what President Trump has done.
- 10:03Speaker 1: So it's amazing how mad they are that he's actually
- 10:06Speaker 1: trying to fight crime. And it's actually pretty simple. He's
- 10:09Speaker 1: saying it's out of control. The numbers are out of control.
- 10:13Speaker 1: The data shows it's out of control, and yes, the
- 10:15Speaker 1: numbers have come down this year, thank goodness. Part that's
- 10:17Speaker 1: because I think law and order and the President advocating
- 10:19Speaker 1: for law enforcement all over the country and allowing law
- 10:22Speaker 1: enforcement to be empowered to do their job and ice
- 10:24Speaker 1: agents to do their job. But they're actually angry at
- 10:29Speaker 1: him because he's doing something that they say is out
- 10:34Speaker 1: of his job description. And they're like, this is what
- 10:37Speaker 1: dictators and tyrants do. And I go back to that line.
- 10:40Speaker 1: I'm like, wait, dictators and tyrants are fighting crime, like
- 10:43Speaker 1: that's a bad thing.
- 10:44Speaker 2: Really well, and the federal government has authority over DC
- 10:50Speaker 2: explicitly under the Constitution. Article one, section eight Claus seventeen
- 10:54Speaker 2: of the Constitution gives Congress quote exclusive legislation over D
- 11:01Speaker 2: and Congress, through its delegate, the DC Council designated that
- 11:05Speaker 2: the President serves as the DC National Guards Commander in Chief.
- 11:11Speaker 2: And that's in DC Code Section forty nine dashed four nine,
- 11:15Speaker 2: which reads, quote, the President of the United States shall
- 11:18Speaker 2: be the Commander in chief of the Militia of the
- 11:20Speaker 2: District of Columbia. There's an executive order from nineteen sixty
- 11:24Speaker 2: nine that delegates the day to day authority over the
- 11:26Speaker 2: DC Guard from the President to the Secretary of Defense,
- 11:29Speaker 2: who further delegates it to the Secretary of the Army.
- 11:32Speaker 2: So there's explicit authority to authorize the National Guard. And
- 11:37Speaker 2: also Congress in nineteen seventy three pastor law called the
- 11:42Speaker 2: Home Rule Act. And what the Home Rule Act does
- 11:44Speaker 2: is it gives the President explicitly the power to take
- 11:49Speaker 2: control of the DC Police quote whenever he determines that
- 11:54Speaker 2: special conditions of an emergency nature exist which require the
- 11:59Speaker 2: use of the Metropolitan Police Force for federal purposes. And
- 12:03Speaker 2: that statute the Home Rule Act further says the mayor
- 12:06Speaker 2: shall provide, shall not may shall provide the police quote
- 12:11Speaker 2: as the President may deem necessary and appropriate, not as
- 12:15Speaker 2: the mayor deems, not as the city council deems as
- 12:18Speaker 2: the President may deem. And the authority is limited to
- 12:21Speaker 2: forty eight hours unless the President sends notice to the
- 12:25Speaker 2: Congressional Committees on DC justifying the action, at which point
- 12:29Speaker 2: the authority is limited to thirty days. Trump has said
- 12:32Speaker 2: he sent that notice this morning. This section has never
- 12:36Speaker 2: been invoked before, but it is explicit, unequivocal statutor authority
- 12:40Speaker 2: to do what he did. And the fact that democrats
- 12:43Speaker 2: of the media are losing their mind is they don't
- 12:45Speaker 2: like the fact that he's exercising clear legal authority and
- 12:48Speaker 2: clear legal authority that he's using precisely because the DC
- 12:55Speaker 2: Mayor and the DC City Council have refused to do
- 12:58Speaker 2: their jobs.
- 12:58Speaker 1: It's amazing that they refuse to do their job. And
- 13:01Speaker 1: even now the police union coming out this is part
- 13:04Speaker 1: of that story. I think it's really important so people
- 13:06Speaker 1: understand reality compared to how the media is covering this.
- 13:10Speaker 1: The police union has come out and said thank you
- 13:13Speaker 1: to the president and said we need your help because
- 13:15Speaker 1: we have so many officers down. And they're like, we
- 13:19Speaker 1: are asking and telling the president thank you. And that's
- 13:21Speaker 1: the police union who is saying this, and yet the
- 13:25Speaker 1: Mayor's still like, well, and I don't know about this.
- 13:27Speaker 1: I'm like, if your police union is telling you you
- 13:29Speaker 1: need the help, why would you not just say let's
- 13:32Speaker 1: put politics aside here. Let's work with the president, let's
- 13:36Speaker 1: work with the national Guard. Let's get things safe at
- 13:39Speaker 1: the metro stations where we've see a large uptacking crime.
- 13:43Speaker 1: Let's let me tell you where I could use this
- 13:45Speaker 1: national Guard, where you could put it and do this
- 13:48Speaker 1: in a by Parson way. But again it goes back
- 13:50Speaker 1: to this Trump arrangement syndrome, that right, Orange man is
- 13:52Speaker 1: always bad even if he's fighting crime.
- 13:55Speaker 2: Yeah, but it's not just that it's the today's democrat
- 13:59Speaker 2: part can't stand the police. It used to be there
- 14:03Speaker 2: was a time when when police unions met, many of
- 14:07Speaker 2: them were Democrats. I will tell you as I travel
- 14:11Speaker 2: the country, everywhere I go, and especially blue cities, when
- 14:13Speaker 2: I arrived in a city like New York, in a
- 14:15Speaker 2: city like Chicago, when I when I got off the
- 14:17Speaker 2: plane in Chicago, I'm often greeted by four, five, six,
- 14:22Speaker 2: eight police officers, unified cops, uniform cops who will come
- 14:26Speaker 2: up to me and they just say thank you. They'll
- 14:28Speaker 2: give me their patches and they feel so belieguer and
- 14:33Speaker 2: I tell them this is something I tried to make
- 14:35Speaker 2: a point. And you've traveled with me Ben, you've seen
- 14:37Speaker 2: this when I see a police officer. I'm in Dallas today.
- 14:41Speaker 2: When I landed it in Dallas love Field, there were
- 14:45Speaker 2: several officers there. I thanked, shook the hands of every
- 14:47Speaker 2: officer there, said thank you, thank you for what you're doing,
- 14:50Speaker 2: thank you for fighting to defend us. And I'll tell
- 14:53Speaker 2: you what I tell the officers in Chicago and everywhere else,
- 14:55Speaker 2: which is it's my job to have your back. And
- 15:00Speaker 2: and why has d C undermined the police so systematically?
- 15:05Speaker 2: Because the Democrat Party has been taken over by the
- 15:09Speaker 2: nut jobs. It's been taken over by the abolished the
- 15:12Speaker 2: police crazies, the defund the police crazies. D C has
- 15:17Speaker 2: in place no cash bail policies so that people commit
- 15:21Speaker 2: violent crimes and get released on no cash bail. That
- 15:24Speaker 2: is madness. And one of the things President Trump asked
- 15:27Speaker 2: Congress to do is abolish DC's no cash bail. I
- 15:32Speaker 2: would certainly vote to do so. I think that's absolutely
- 15:35Speaker 2: the right thing to do. I will tell you, I
- 15:37Speaker 2: think the odds are very high that Senate Democrats will
- 15:42Speaker 2: filibuster any effort to get rid of no cash bail
- 15:46Speaker 2: in d C. Because the Democrats today are the party
- 15:51Speaker 2: of criminals? They are? And look when I say that, Ben,
- 15:55Speaker 2: that sounds hyperbolic, that sounds oh, come on, how can
- 15:57Speaker 2: they really be the party of criminals? Well, they're the
- 16:00Speaker 2: ones that tell you they are. They're the ones that
- 16:03Speaker 2: their dismay is, how dare the president be committed to
- 16:09Speaker 2: arresting murderers and rapists and gang members? And I want
- 16:12Speaker 2: to be clear about something. DC is qualitatively different. So
- 16:16Speaker 2: there's a statute, long standing statute called posse comitatus. Posse
- 16:21Speaker 2: comitatus bars the use of the US military for civilian
- 16:25Speaker 2: law enforcement, except when authorized by the Constitution or another
- 16:29Speaker 2: provision of federal law. And so if the President were
- 16:35Speaker 2: to do this in New York City or Chicago, there
- 16:38Speaker 2: would certainly be a challenge under possecomatatis that using the
- 16:42Speaker 2: military for law enforcement violates that. Importantly, however, the Department
- 16:48Speaker 2: of Justice, in nineteen eighty nine, the Office of Legal Counsel,
- 16:52Speaker 2: issued an opinion that found that President George Herbert Walker
- 16:57Speaker 2: Bush could use the DC car Guard to carry out
- 17:00Speaker 2: law enforcement missions in d C as part of the
- 17:04Speaker 2: so called war on drugs. And so you've got a
- 17:06Speaker 2: Department of Justice opinion long standing from decades ago that
- 17:11Speaker 2: says DC is different because it's it's not a state,
- 17:15Speaker 2: it is a federal encclave. The federal government has blanket
- 17:19Speaker 2: authority over DC. And so this is an instance where
- 17:22Speaker 2: where the President is acting pursuant to his authority, and
- 17:25Speaker 2: and and I expect that his actions are going to
- 17:29Speaker 2: prove highly effective, which I got to tell you, Ben,
- 17:32Speaker 2: I think that scares Democrats even more well.
- 17:34Speaker 1: And that brings me the second part of this, which
- 17:36Speaker 1: is you look at how big of the success this
- 17:40Speaker 1: could be pretty quickly, and if it is a success,
- 17:44Speaker 1: it's just going to expose so many other sanctuary city leaders,
- 17:49Speaker 1: the Gavin Newsom's, the LA mayor, the Baltimore mayor, Chicago mayor,
- 17:53Speaker 1: the Memphis mayor, the Detroit mayor, the New Orleans mayor,
- 17:56Speaker 1: all of these top crime cities for exactly what they've done.
- 17:59Speaker 1: It's the policies. You look at just DC and how
- 18:02Speaker 1: soft they've been on crime with juveniles, and juvenile crime
- 18:06Speaker 1: exploded in d C during COVID and after COVID because
- 18:11Speaker 1: they refused to hold juvenile's account for their actions. We've
- 18:15Speaker 1: seen this happen a lot of other places. Around the country.
- 18:17Speaker 1: So if this turns into a major success for the
- 18:20Speaker 1: president and people feel safe in d C, how big
- 18:24Speaker 1: of a political victory for law and order. I'm not
- 18:27Speaker 1: talking about Republican and everyone. I'm talking about for law
- 18:29Speaker 1: and order. Could this be and precedent moving forward to
- 18:33Speaker 1: bring and say hey, I'm willing to help you. You
- 18:35Speaker 1: just got to ask for the help because we can
- 18:38Speaker 1: do what we just did in Washington, d C.
- 18:40Speaker 2: Yeah. Look, that's exactly right. And I think the obvious
- 18:43Speaker 2: analog is border security. We spent four years under Joe
- 18:48Speaker 2: Biden the Democrats, with the Democrats saying they were helpless
- 18:52Speaker 2: to secure the border. It was impossible to do. I
- 18:54Speaker 2: was there a year ago at the State of the
- 18:56Speaker 2: Union address when Joe Biden said he needed new leg legislation.
- 19:00Speaker 2: The only way to secure the borders if Congress passed
- 19:03Speaker 2: new legislation. Now, I was there this year when Trump
- 19:05Speaker 2: gave a State of the Union address, and it was
- 19:08Speaker 2: after border crossings with Trump being sworn into office, had
- 19:11Speaker 2: dropped more than ninety nine percent. And Trump my favorite
- 19:16Speaker 2: line from his whole State of the Union address is
- 19:18Speaker 2: he said, it turns out we didn't need new legislation.
- 19:21Speaker 2: We just needed a new president. Well, the same thing
- 19:24Speaker 2: is true here. Look, President Trump has demonstrated conclusively the
- 19:28Speaker 2: border could have can be secured, and it could have
- 19:31Speaker 2: been secured four years ago. Except Joe Biden. The Democrats
- 19:35Speaker 2: wanted open borders because they saw a political benefit. If
- 19:39Speaker 2: we see the kind of successes that I know President
- 19:41Speaker 2: Trump hopes we'll see that, I think we are likely
- 19:44Speaker 2: to see. It will demonstrate not just every resident of DC,
- 19:48Speaker 2: but every resident of every other high crime city in
- 19:50Speaker 2: the country. Wait a second, this can be stopped, My
- 19:55Speaker 2: family can be protected. And the fact that the murder
- 19:58Speaker 2: rates in my city are are so high, that the
- 20:01Speaker 2: rape and child molestations and the carjacking rates are so high,
- 20:05Speaker 2: that is a choice, a voluntary choice from Democrat politicians
- 20:10Speaker 2: who put partisan priorities above protecting their citizenry. That, at
- 20:15Speaker 2: the end of the day, is I think one of
- 20:17Speaker 2: the biggest reasons Democrats are freaking out. And I want
- 20:20Speaker 2: to make another point about this, which is there used
- 20:22Speaker 2: to be an implicit agreement about d C Home Rule,
- 20:26Speaker 2: which is that Republicans wouldn't interfere day to day, and
- 20:30Speaker 2: the Democrat officials in d C wouldn't run the city
- 20:32Speaker 2: as a social experiment driven by progressive self indulgence like
- 20:37Speaker 2: in other blue cities, and the DC mayor and City
- 20:41Speaker 2: Council broke that implicit agreement. DC is fundamentally different from
- 20:47Speaker 2: other major cities because it's the nation's political capital. And
- 20:51Speaker 2: if you are serving in the federal government, you have
- 20:53Speaker 2: to be in DC. If the residents of New York
- 20:56Speaker 2: or San Francisco want to elect crazy sold politician uh
- 21:02Speaker 2: district attorneys, if if they want their officials to implement
- 21:06Speaker 2: their combination of communism and anarchy and and and and
- 21:12Speaker 2: woke policies shutting down schools and businesses. You know what,
- 21:17Speaker 2: if you don't like it, you can leave and and
- 21:21Speaker 2: and leaving that, you can get out of a blue city.
- 21:25Speaker 2: To the extent, voters anywhere in America elect representatives to
- 21:30Speaker 2: represent them. Look, the people of Texas, thirty one million
- 21:32Speaker 2: Texans have sent me to represent them in the Senate.
- 21:35Speaker 2: I have to go to Washington, d C. To do that.
- 21:38Speaker 2: That's where the Senate is. My staff, many of whom
- 21:41Speaker 2: are Texans. They have to be in d C to
- 21:44Speaker 2: do that job. And and and so the lawlessness the
- 21:47Speaker 2: president is acting. Look fine, if you've got San Francisco
- 21:50Speaker 2: Democrats who want to go from one lawless hell hole
- 21:53Speaker 2: to another, that's their choice. But the nation's capital there
- 21:57Speaker 2: is an obligation to keep it safe. And I think
- 22:00Speaker 2: the President is doing the exactly right thing by acting boldly.
- 22:04Speaker 2: I want to commend him. This is a bold step,
- 22:06Speaker 2: and I think it's really important one.
- 22:09Speaker 1: It also goes back to the second part of the show,
- 22:12Speaker 1: and it deals with the President making very big steps,
- 22:15Speaker 1: bold steps here and look at what he has decided
- 22:18Speaker 1: to now do when it comes to dealing with drug cartels.
- 22:23Speaker 1: He's made them some of them have been named terrorists organizations.
- 22:28Speaker 1: And this was done deliberately on purpose by this president
- 22:33Speaker 1: to be able to go after the drug cartels, which
- 22:35Speaker 1: these cartels are clearly killing Americans each and every day
- 22:41Speaker 1: with the drugs coming across the border and also the
- 22:43Speaker 1: violence that comes across the border. And the President now
- 22:46Speaker 1: has enough. He put out a tweet and he's ordering
- 22:50Speaker 1: now the US military to destroy not only the drug cartels,
- 22:53Speaker 1: but the New York Post is reporting as well that
- 22:56Speaker 1: the President has apparently authorized military force against the Latin
- 22:59Speaker 1: American drug cartels classified as foreign terrorist organizations. The Pete
- 23:04Speaker 1: Edgseth went on our Ingram Show tonight was asked about it.
- 23:07Speaker 1: He's like, look, we know a lot more about these
- 23:08Speaker 1: cartels than they realize. We know a lot more about
- 23:11Speaker 1: where they are, what they're doing, where they're moving. And
- 23:14Speaker 1: the President said this is a top priority and I'm
- 23:17Speaker 1: working on it, and that was a pretty bold statement
- 23:19Speaker 1: from the man in charge of the Pentagon.
- 23:22Speaker 2: Absolutely. Yes, Here's what the New York Post reported. Quote.
- 23:25Speaker 2: President Trump has secretly authorized the military to use force
- 23:29Speaker 2: against Latin American drug cartels classified as foreign terrorist organizations.
- 23:34Speaker 2: The move is the most aggressive action Trumps taken yet
- 23:37Speaker 2: against Yang's trafficking drugs like fetanol across the US Mexico border,
- 23:41Speaker 2: the activities of which were previously the purview of federal
- 23:44Speaker 2: law enforcement. The order, first reported Friday by The New
- 23:48Speaker 2: York Times, gives US forces official permission to engage cartels
- 23:53Speaker 2: on land and sea. Quote. The President is determined to
- 23:59Speaker 2: not just disci Mantle, but completely destroy Maduro's Cartel del
- 24:05Speaker 2: Soles and to obliterate their operations in the Western Hemisphere.
- 24:10Speaker 2: A source close to the White House said the State
- 24:14Speaker 2: Department's list of foreign terrorist organizations include involved in drug
- 24:17Speaker 2: trafficking include Venezuela's trend Aragua and Cartel de la Soles,
- 24:22Speaker 2: as well as El Salvadores rooted Mara Salvatruca known as
- 24:28Speaker 2: MS thirteen. And that is incredibly consequential because it now
- 24:36Speaker 2: sets up the stage I would expect to see military
- 24:39Speaker 2: action taking out the cartels that have been designated as
- 24:44Speaker 2: terrorist organizations. That takes this to a whole new level.
- 24:48Speaker 2: And just like what the President is doing in DC,
- 24:51Speaker 2: that has Democrats beside themselves because given a choice between
- 24:55Speaker 2: siding with law abiding American citizens or murderers and gang members,
- 25:00Speaker 2: Today's Democrats sided with the murderers and gang members. And
- 25:03Speaker 2: given a choice between siding with international gangs and drug
- 25:08Speaker 2: cartels that are trafficking poison to our kids and murdering
- 25:12Speaker 2: Americans or standing with American families, sadly, the Democrats choose
- 25:16Speaker 2: to get on a plane and go down to El
- 25:18Speaker 2: Salvador and have dakeries with MS thirteen human traffickers.
- 25:22Speaker 1: Well, let's talk about the narrative as well on this
- 25:24Speaker 1: There today I was watching and they were saying, well,
- 25:28Speaker 1: this is the present sanctioning warld war IREI, this is
- 25:32Speaker 1: the present sanctioning a attack on Mexico and that's going
- 25:38Speaker 1: to start a war. I think those might be two
- 25:41Speaker 1: of the most egregious and just absurd statements the president.
- 25:44Speaker 1: If we attack the cartels and the terrorist organizations, that's
- 25:47Speaker 1: not an attack on Mexico. That's not going to war
- 25:49Speaker 1: with Mexico. Even though the Democrats and those in the
- 25:52Speaker 1: media are trying to explain that way, I don't think
- 25:55Speaker 1: the American people would see it that way either, especially
- 25:57Speaker 1: with Americans dying on a daily basis.
- 26:00Speaker 2: Look, I think that's right, and and and I'll point
- 26:02Speaker 2: out also that there is a clear precedent for this.
- 26:06Speaker 2: When George W. Bush was president, you had the nation
- 26:09Speaker 2: of Columbia just racked by drug cartels, the Mediine cartel,
- 26:13Speaker 2: the Colleague cartel. And the result of these cartels is
- 26:17Speaker 2: crime in Colombia was out of control. The murder rate
- 26:20Speaker 2: was out of control. You had acts of terrorism, uh
- 26:23Speaker 2: that that that were attacking and and and the cartels
- 26:28Speaker 2: were murdering, were blowing up, We're shooting uh police officers
- 26:32Speaker 2: and judges and and elected officials and mayors and and
- 26:37Speaker 2: and it was really in bad shape. And and and
- 26:39Speaker 2: the people of Columbia elected President Eurebe as the President
- 26:42Speaker 2: of Columbia, and he asked President George W. Bush, will
- 26:47Speaker 2: you help us? And and and Bush launched what was
- 26:50Speaker 2: called Plan Colombia. Planned Columbia, sent the military in and
- 26:55Speaker 2: just decimated the cartels. It turns out our military is
- 26:59Speaker 2: really good at and the bad guys. And we did so,
- 27:03Speaker 2: and it ended up turning Columbia around. It made a
- 27:07Speaker 2: massive difference in the nation of Columbia. So our military
- 27:10Speaker 2: knows how to do this. There's clear precedent with some
- 27:14Speaker 2: of these. With some of these cartels, we will be
- 27:20Speaker 2: asked in by the governments with open arms. In other instances,
- 27:24Speaker 2: you may have elected officials and governments that resist America
- 27:28Speaker 2: coming in. That becomes more complicated. The United States has
- 27:32Speaker 2: acted against terrorists and foreign nations, even when the sovereign
- 27:36Speaker 2: government is less than thrilled about that. But it's more
- 27:39Speaker 2: complicated if the government is asking us not to. But
- 27:42Speaker 2: but it is nonetheless how exactly the Trump administration navigates
- 27:46Speaker 2: that that will be an open question over the next
- 27:49Speaker 2: three years. But I got to tell you this, if
- 27:52Speaker 2: you're a Mexican drug lord, if you're a drug lord anywhere,
- 27:56Speaker 2: particularly in one of these gangs that has been designated
- 27:59Speaker 2: a terrorist organization by the President. I would sleep with
- 28:03Speaker 2: one eye open, because you know, a predator drone is
- 28:07Speaker 2: really good at making things go boom in the night.
- 28:09Speaker 2: And I think the terrorist and the drug cartels are
- 28:14Speaker 2: all sleeping a lot less comfortable right now.
- 28:17Speaker 1: Aim into that. And they have not had to worry
- 28:20Speaker 1: about this threat in my entire lifetime, and I think
- 28:23Speaker 1: that's another part of this story where they've never been
- 28:26Speaker 1: treated the way that now the President's treating them, and
- 28:29Speaker 1: the American people are clearly behind this. This is two
- 28:32Speaker 1: major examples of the President promising law and order and
- 28:34Speaker 1: national security and safety, and he's definitely backing it up.
