- 0:00Speaker 1: On behalf of the Kroger Company, and we operate about
- 0:04Speaker 1: twenty seven hundred supermarkets, and orderly transition of equipment reduces
- 0:10Speaker 1: both capital costs and operating costs, and at the end
- 0:14Speaker 1: of the day, that's good for consumers because we're able
- 0:18Speaker 1: to take that and put that into lowering prices, which
- 0:22Speaker 1: is the key objectives that we.
- 0:23Speaker 2: Have in our business.
- 0:24Speaker 1: So thank you very much.
- 0:26Speaker 3: You're listening to the forty seven Morning Update with Ben ferguson.
- 0:30Speaker 4: Good Saturday morning. Nice to have you with us on
- 0:32Speaker 4: the forty seven Morning Update, and we've got two stories
- 0:35Speaker 4: for you. First up, Democrats being called out for the
- 0:39Speaker 4: jerrymandering that they've created in this country and now Republicans
- 0:42Speaker 4: are fighting back and winning. Up next, a Republican Spencer
- 0:47Speaker 4: Pratt may actually become the mayor of la Democrats are
- 0:52Speaker 4: losing their minds, So how did they get to this point?
- 0:55Speaker 4: We'll give you that as well. It's a forty seven
- 0:58Speaker 4: Morning Update and it starts right now. Story number one
- 1:02Speaker 4: yesterday I played for you Kamala Harris and how she
- 1:05Speaker 4: wants to completely destroy the fundamentals of this country. She
- 1:09Speaker 4: wants to pack the Supreme Court, even kick Justice off
- 1:12Speaker 4: the Supreme Court when they give rulings she doesn't like,
- 1:14Speaker 4: and then she wants to get rid of the Electoral
- 1:16Speaker 4: College all together. Now you may be asking yourself this
- 1:19Speaker 4: question why all of this is coming because they didn't
- 1:23Speaker 4: get their way. Donald Trump won Conservatives one. And when
- 1:27Speaker 4: you hate the other side and you don't respect the
- 1:30Speaker 4: law or the wishes of the citizens of this country,
- 1:34Speaker 4: well that's exactly what you would do, especially if you're
- 1:36Speaker 4: a communist and Marxists are a socialist. Stacy Abrams is
- 1:40Speaker 4: now coming out explaining why Democrats are so distraught over
- 1:45Speaker 4: the Scotis ruling against racially jerrymander districts. She also is
- 1:51Speaker 4: upset at the power that the Democratic Party is going
- 1:54Speaker 4: to lose. Now, before I play her comments, I just
- 1:57Speaker 4: want to go back and set the stage to how
- 1:59Speaker 4: we got to the point where we are right now.
- 2:02Speaker 4: Democrats have been acting like they're the victims of gerrymandering
- 2:06Speaker 4: for decades, but the reality is that's not true. Democrats
- 2:11Speaker 4: have actually been masters of gerrymandering, especially in deep blue
- 2:16Speaker 4: states where Republican voters are essentially a race from congressional
- 2:21Speaker 4: representation altogether. And if Americans want proof, just look at
- 2:26Speaker 4: the states where there are literally zero Republican members of
- 2:31Speaker 4: Congress in the US House representing the Conservatives in those
- 2:36Speaker 4: states right now. States include Connecticut zero republicans, Delaware zero republicans,
- 2:44Speaker 4: Hawaii zero republicans in Congress, Massachusetts zero Republicans in Congress,
- 2:51Speaker 4: New Hampshire another zero, Rhode Island zero, Vermont zero, and
- 2:57Speaker 4: effectively Maine has no Republican representation in Congress whatsoever. Now,
- 3:02Speaker 4: if you just think about that for a second, that
- 3:04Speaker 4: is millions of Americans that have been disenfranchised living in
- 3:09Speaker 4: those states that vote Republican and presidential elections, governor races,
- 3:14Speaker 4: Senate races, and local elections. Yet somehow, when it comes
- 3:18Speaker 4: to congressional districts, Republicans are entirely wiped off the map
- 3:23Speaker 4: on purpose. In fact, this has been part of a
- 3:27Speaker 4: long term political strategy in blue states. Democrats perfected the
- 3:32Speaker 4: art of concentrating Republican voters into a few districts as
- 3:36Speaker 4: possible and then spreading them so thinly that they can
- 3:40Speaker 4: never actually win representation. Meanwhile, those same Democrats are going
- 3:45Speaker 4: on television every day now pretending that they are defenders
- 3:49Speaker 4: of quote, fair maps and democracy. Yeah, the hypocrisy is
- 3:55Speaker 4: quote unquote unbelievable, but it's really not if you've been
- 3:58Speaker 4: paying attention to what's been happening all over the country
- 4:01Speaker 4: for decades.
- 4:02Speaker 2: Just take Massachusetts for example.
- 4:04Speaker 4: Republicans routinely receive hundreds of thousands of votes statewide, yet
- 4:10Speaker 4: Democrats hold every single congressional seat. The same thing happens
- 4:14Speaker 4: in Rhode Island, the same thing happens in Connecticut, the
- 4:18Speaker 4: same thing happens in Hawaii. Republicans may as well not
- 4:22Speaker 4: exist according to the congressional representation. And this isn't just
- 4:27Speaker 4: about geography. It's also about power because congressional districts determine
- 4:34Speaker 4: who controls the House of Representatives. That determines who has
- 4:38Speaker 4: the committee chairmanships, who is in charge of the investigations
- 4:42Speaker 4: or impeachments, who's in charge of spending, border security, taxes, regulations,
- 4:49Speaker 4: literally everything. That's why the Democratic Party has been doing this,
- 4:54Speaker 4: and that's why now Republicans are fighting over the map
- 4:58Speaker 4: so aggressively. Here's what Democrats never want to admit. They
- 5:03Speaker 4: were perfectly fine with aggressive redistricting when they controlled the process,
- 5:09Speaker 4: and for decades, Democrats used urban political machines, court systems,
- 5:15Speaker 4: state legislatures and activist groups to shape districts in their favor.
- 5:20Speaker 4: In many states, they created maps so lopsided that competitive
- 5:24Speaker 4: congressional races effectively disappeared altogether. Now suddenly, when Republicans fight
- 5:31Speaker 4: back in states like Texas and Florida or Tennessee, Democrats
- 5:36Speaker 4: scream from the hilltops and yell racism.
- 5:39Speaker 2: The media narrative is.
- 5:40Speaker 4: Well always as saying, if Republicans redraw maps, it's called
- 5:44Speaker 4: an attack on democracy, But when Democrats literally implement the
- 5:48Speaker 4: same maps, it's called protecting representation and minorities. Americans they're
- 5:55Speaker 4: tired of the double standard, especially if you're a conservative,
- 5:58Speaker 4: and the numbers, by the way, they don't lie. Just
- 6:01Speaker 4: look at Illinois, one of the most aggressively jerrymannered states
- 6:05Speaker 4: in America. Republicans regularly receive forty five percent in statewide votes,
- 6:12Speaker 4: yet Democrats dominate the congressional delegation because the maps are
- 6:17Speaker 4: perfectly engineered to maximize democratic seats. Maryland became infamous for
- 6:24Speaker 4: bizarrely shaped districts designed specifically to weaken Republican voters. New
- 6:30Speaker 4: York Democrats openly laughed and attempted aggressive mid decade redistricting
- 6:35Speaker 4: to gain more congressional seats before the courts were forced
- 6:39Speaker 4: to step in, and California system may technically involve a commission,
- 6:44Speaker 4: but the end result is still a delegation overwhelmingly tilted
- 6:48Speaker 4: towards the left, towards Democrats, and state were millions and
- 6:53Speaker 4: that's not exaggeration. Millions of Republicans live and vote. And
- 6:58Speaker 4: here's the broader point Americans need to understand. Jerry mannering
- 7:02Speaker 4: is not some unique Republican phenomenon, if you even want
- 7:05Speaker 4: to call it that. It is a bipartisan political weapon.
- 7:09Speaker 4: Republicans are decades late to the game. The difference is
- 7:13Speaker 4: Republicans are finally fighting back and it's about time after
- 7:18Speaker 4: years of taking it on the chin watching Democrats dominate
- 7:21Speaker 4: the process. Even major media outlets are now forced to
- 7:25Speaker 4: admit that redistricting wars are escalating nationwide. Both parties aggressively
- 7:30Speaker 4: pursuing partisan advantages ahead of the midterm elections. And let's
- 7:35Speaker 4: be honest about why this matters so much. Right now,
- 7:38Speaker 4: the margins in Congress are raizor thin. You've got a
- 7:42Speaker 4: handful of districts that can determine who becomes Speaker of
- 7:44Speaker 4: the House, which party controls investigations, whether tax cuts survive,
- 7:50Speaker 4: whether border security legislation passes, and whether Donald Trump's agenda
- 7:54Speaker 4: that America clearly voted for moves forward or gets buried. Now,
- 7:59Speaker 4: that's why Democrats are panicking. That's why people like states
- 8:03Speaker 4: they Abrams are coming out on TV playing the race
- 8:06Speaker 4: card and also warning about what Republicans are about to
- 8:10Speaker 4: do and how it can be so damaging because they've been.
- 8:13Speaker 2: The masters of it for years.
- 8:15Speaker 4: The same Democrats who've been gerrymannering for decades are now
- 8:19Speaker 4: playing the race card. So let's not be lectured by
- 8:23Speaker 4: the Democrats on fairness while they maintain states with zero
- 8:27Speaker 4: Republican representation. Don't pretend Parson maps are evil only when
- 8:31Speaker 4: Republicans are the ones drawing them now, and don't act
- 8:35Speaker 4: like millions of conservative voters in blue states somehow deserve
- 8:38Speaker 4: no voice in Congress, because that's exactly what they've been
- 8:41Speaker 4: doing for the.
- 8:42Speaker 2: Last twenty plus years. The left.
- 8:45Speaker 4: They spent decades building political fortresses in blue states and
- 8:50Speaker 4: accusing Republicans of doing precisely the same thing elsewhere, and
- 8:54Speaker 4: now the country's waking up to it. At the end
- 8:56Speaker 4: of the day, This debate is really about political power,
- 8:59Speaker 4: who has it, who keeps it, and who controls Washington.
- 9:03Speaker 4: And if Democrats know that, if Republicans continue gaining ground
- 9:08Speaker 4: with working class voters, Hispanic voters, union households, suburban parents,
- 9:13Speaker 4: and independents, then the only way to maintain powers in
- 9:17Speaker 4: some places is through district maps designed to protect incumbents
- 9:21Speaker 4: and lock in those advantages. Well, now that seems to
- 9:25Speaker 4: be all over and Republicans are doing exactly what they
- 9:29Speaker 4: should do. Fighting back next story number two. You remember
- 9:33Speaker 4: those wildfires that started in LA. Remember how the reservoirs
- 9:38Speaker 4: were empty, and remember the incompetence because of the leadership
- 9:42Speaker 4: in LA, including an incompetent fire chief, and the bickering
- 9:46Speaker 4: and fighting back and forth as houses burned to the ground. Well,
- 9:51Speaker 4: you would think they would have learned from those empty reservoirs.
- 9:55Speaker 4: Apparently they've learned nothing at all, because some of them
- 9:59Speaker 4: are still boned as we speak, and that's having a
- 10:03Speaker 4: real impact on the election in LA.
- 10:06Speaker 2: The political liberal radical.
- 10:09Speaker 4: Establishment in LA is facing a nightmare scenario that they
- 10:14Speaker 4: never thought was even possible. A conservative outsider is surging
- 10:19Speaker 4: in one of the bluest major cities, in America and
- 10:22Speaker 4: Democrats they're openly panicking and now they're worried they may
- 10:28Speaker 4: lose control of the narrative and a city that they've
- 10:31Speaker 4: dominated for decades and destroyed with crime and drugs and
- 10:35Speaker 4: pretty much every other liberal idea that's been a disaster. Now,
- 10:40Speaker 4: let me also explain to you exactly who's in this race.
- 10:44Speaker 4: You have a guy by the name of Spencer Pratt.
- 10:47Speaker 4: He's a former reality TV personality. By the way, LA
- 10:51Speaker 4: makes a lot of those, But they want you to
- 10:52Speaker 4: think that that means he's not a serious candidate.
- 10:56Speaker 2: And how did he turn himself into a political insurgent. Well,
- 10:59Speaker 2: it's pretty simple.
- 11:01Speaker 4: His house burned down in those fires and that irritated him.
- 11:06Speaker 4: Because this race has become much bigger than just Los Angeles,
- 11:10Speaker 4: it's also getting a lot of attention. It's becoming a
- 11:13Speaker 4: national warning sign for Democrats who are mismanaging cities with
- 11:17Speaker 4: high crime and high poverty and failing schools. For years,
- 11:22Speaker 4: Democrats treated LA like an untouchable political territory. It's a
- 11:27Speaker 4: city where progressive politics dominated nearly every institution, city hall,
- 11:32Speaker 4: the media, Hollywood academia, activist organizations, and most local elections.
- 11:38Speaker 4: Republicans weren't even expected to compete seriously there anymore. Ever,
- 11:43Speaker 4: and then suddenly, according to recent polling, Praudus surge in
- 11:48Speaker 4: second place in the mayoral race, ahead of major establishment
- 11:52Speaker 4: back candidates and within striking distance of the woman in
- 11:56Speaker 4: charge of LA, Karen Bass. This could be a pullet earthquake.
- 12:01Speaker 4: Democrats understand something very clearly. If a conservative populis style
- 12:07Speaker 4: candidate very much like Donald Trump could become competitive in La,
- 12:12Speaker 4: then no democratic run city in America is truly safe anymore,
- 12:16Speaker 4: especially after there's a major moment like a wildfire or anarchy,
- 12:22Speaker 4: riots or things like that. And that's exactly why it's happening,
- 12:26Speaker 4: because voters in LA, well, they've had enough of the politics.
- 12:31Speaker 2: And they're furious.
- 12:33Speaker 4: What are they angry over out of control homelessness, They're
- 12:38Speaker 4: angry over crime. They're also angry over the costs of living,
- 12:43Speaker 4: and they're furious over the failed leadership very much cause
- 12:47Speaker 4: those wildfires to grow. They're furious over government incompetence even
- 12:53Speaker 4: after the fires happen, and they're especially furious over the
- 12:57Speaker 4: aftermath of realizing that the people that claim they were
- 13:01Speaker 4: going to be there to help them rebuild, have done
- 13:04Speaker 4: anything but do that. In fact, they've showed no effort
- 13:09Speaker 4: to follow up on rebuilding a city that's been destroyed.
- 13:13Speaker 4: The Palisade fires show just how bad the democratic machine
- 13:17Speaker 4: actually is, and that is the issue that has now
- 13:20Speaker 4: changed everything.
- 13:22Speaker 2: Now.
- 13:22Speaker 4: Pratt has aggressively positioned himself as the candidate of anger, frustration,
- 13:27Speaker 4: and revolt against city hall. He's telling voters what many
- 13:31Speaker 4: residents already feel, that the political class running LA has
- 13:35Speaker 4: not only failed the city, but has failed them. And
- 13:38Speaker 4: what's fascinating is how he's doing it. He's not running
- 13:42Speaker 4: like a traditional Republican either. He's running like a populist
- 13:46Speaker 4: who said enough is enough and are you with me?
- 13:50Speaker 4: His campaign style mirrors what we've seen nationally in outsider movements,
- 13:55Speaker 4: social media dominance, viral videos, anti establishment ran, blunt language,
- 14:02Speaker 4: and direct a tax on city leadership. He's also a
- 14:05Speaker 4: constant focus on quality of life and the failures of
- 14:10Speaker 4: the Democratic Party. He's talking about homeless encampments that are
- 14:14Speaker 4: out of control. He's talking about the federal crisis and
- 14:17Speaker 4: the dead bodies. He's talking about public safety and how
- 14:21Speaker 4: really no one feels safe in La anymore. He's also
- 14:24Speaker 4: talking about urban decline, something Democrats don't want to admit.
- 14:28Speaker 4: And he talks about taxpayers feeling totally abandoned while the
- 14:33Speaker 4: political elite lecture them and take their money. Remember, LA
- 14:37Speaker 4: is insanely expensive to live on top of the out
- 14:40Speaker 4: of control taxation. And Democrats they're deeply uncomfortable because there
- 14:46Speaker 4: are issues where voters increasingly believe conservatives actually have an advantage.
- 14:53Speaker 2: That is the real story here.
- 14:56Speaker 4: Now, this race is exposing the widening disconnect between progressive activists,
- 15:01Speaker 4: you know, the Black Lives Matter movement that then turn
- 15:03Speaker 4: into abolish the Police that then turned into burn down cities. Yeah,
- 15:08Speaker 4: an ordinary working class voters, many of them that were
- 15:11Speaker 4: Democrats who simply voted for them over and over again
- 15:16Speaker 4: until now. And this is what really should terrify Democrats nationally.
- 15:21Speaker 4: Pratt's support is not just coming from Republicans, even Democrats
- 15:27Speaker 4: are supporting him. So now you understand why not only
- 15:31Speaker 4: is LA a major race, but also the California governor
- 15:34Speaker 4: candidates race. Was Steve Hilton, a Republican at eighteen point
- 15:39Speaker 4: five percent, the billionaire Democrat liberal Tom Steyer at sixteen percent,
- 15:45Speaker 4: Chad Beyonco, a Republican at thirteen percent. Yes, two of
- 15:49Speaker 4: the three top leading California GUBERNORO candidates are Republicans right now,
- 15:54Speaker 4: because it's not just La, it's literally the entire state
- 15:58Speaker 4: they have destroyed. And that's exactly why the Democratic Party
- 16:04Speaker 4: is freaking out right now trying to figure out how
- 16:07Speaker 4: do they hold on to a place they never thought
- 16:09Speaker 4: they could possibly lose.
