Transcript
- 0:00Speaker 1: I don't want it to shut down because we have
- 0:02Speaker 1: the greatest period of time ever. I tell you, we
- 0:04Speaker 1: have seventeen trillion dollars being invested. So the last person
- 0:07Speaker 1: that wants to shut down is us. Now, with that
- 0:09Speaker 1: being said, we can do things during the shutdown that
- 0:13Speaker 1: are irreversible, that are bad for them and irreversible by them,
- 0:16Speaker 1: like cutting vast numbers of people out, cutting things that
- 0:19Speaker 1: they like, cutting programs that they like.
- 0:21Speaker 2: You're listening to the forty seven Morning Update with Ben ferguson.
- 0:25Speaker 3: Good Wednesday morning. It's so nice to have you with
- 0:27Speaker 3: us on the forty seven Morning Update. And we've got
- 0:29Speaker 3: one big story. It is the government shut down. It
- 0:33Speaker 3: is real. How do we get here? What is the
- 0:35Speaker 3: President saying? And what are the Democrats going to do?
- 0:39Speaker 4: Well? It's all in this morning's episode.
- 0:42Speaker 3: Plus you're gonna hear from Center Ted Cruz about the
- 0:45Speaker 3: shutdown and what will happen next in the Senate. But
- 0:49Speaker 3: first I want to talk to you about my friends
- 0:51Speaker 3: over at Patriot Mobile. You've got a lot of choices
- 0:54Speaker 3: for cell phone service with new ones popping up all
- 0:57Speaker 3: the time, But if you want to make a difference
- 1:00Speaker 3: and you want to stop giving your money to liberal companies. Well,
- 1:03Speaker 3: one way you can do that is by getting rid
- 1:06Speaker 3: of Liberal mobile you probably have right now. That is
- 1:09Speaker 3: where hundreds of thousands of Americans are now coming together
- 1:13Speaker 3: and have made Patriot Mobile what they are today. They've
- 1:15Speaker 3: been in service now for thirteen years and right now
- 1:20Speaker 3: is the best time ever to switch because it's never
- 1:23Speaker 3: been easier. Now, before I tell you about that, I
- 1:26Speaker 3: want you to know why switching is so important because
- 1:29Speaker 3: every time you make a call, every time you send
- 1:31Speaker 3: a text, and every time that you pay your bill,
- 1:33Speaker 3: you're actually standing up for the values you believe in
- 1:35Speaker 3: your First and your Second Amendment rights, the rights of
- 1:39Speaker 3: unborn children, and you stand with our military, our veterans,
- 1:42Speaker 3: are wounded warriors, and our fallen soldier families. Because Patriot
- 1:46Speaker 3: Mobile takes about five percent of your bill every month
- 1:49Speaker 3: at no extra cost to you, and they give it
- 1:51Speaker 3: back to these organizations that fight for our values. Now,
- 1:55Speaker 3: let's talk about switching. It has never been easier. You
- 1:58Speaker 3: can keep your same number if you're saying phone or upgrade.
- 2:02Speaker 3: Patriot Mobile's got a one hundred percent US based customer
- 2:04Speaker 3: service team and literally they can now with technology get
- 2:08Speaker 3: you activated in minutes from the comforty your home or
- 2:11Speaker 3: your office. You're second a contract or owe money on
- 2:14Speaker 3: your phones, no worries. Patriot Mobile has a contract buyout
- 2:17Speaker 3: program and this is how we win, folks by aligning
- 2:21Speaker 3: our spending with our values. Every dollar we spend matters. Now,
- 2:26Speaker 3: let me also give you a free month of service.
- 2:28Speaker 3: Go to Patriotmobile dot com slash ferguson. That's Patriot Mobile
- 2:34Speaker 3: dot com slash ferguson, or you can call them nine
- 2:38Speaker 3: to seven to two Patriot. Use the promo code ferguson,
- 2:42Speaker 3: and you're gonna get one month free service by switching today.

- 2:49Speaker 3: code ferguson. You'll get a free month of service today
- 2:52Speaker 3: Patriotmobile dot com slash ferguson or nine to seven to
- 2:55Speaker 3: two Patriot.
- 2:56Speaker 4: It's forty seven morning update and it starts right now.
- 2:59Speaker 2: Story number one.
- 3:00Speaker 3: It is official, twelve oh one am. The United States
- 3:05Speaker 3: government is shut down. The Democrats they did it on purpose.
- 3:09Speaker 3: Apparently it was their plan and the question is for
- 3:12Speaker 3: how long have they been planning on doing this? Center
- 3:16Speaker 3: This is going to be a very interesting show. This
- 3:18Speaker 3: all revolves around the Senate. That is something that maybe
- 3:23Speaker 3: some people don't realize. Everything's come out of the House.
- 3:26Speaker 3: We're now to the Senate side of things, and I
- 3:28Speaker 3: want you to explain what it was like in the
- 3:31Speaker 3: hours leading up to the shutdown. Was there ever a
- 3:33Speaker 3: chance in hell that the government wasn't going to shut down?
- 3:36Speaker 5: No, that there was never a chance.
- 3:39Speaker 6: It is just after midnight, so the government is shut
- 3:42Speaker 6: down just for a few minutes. But I think the
- 3:46Speaker 6: government shutdown is going to last at a minimum of days.
- 3:50Speaker 6: It may be weeks, and it may even be longer. Really, yes,
- 3:55Speaker 6: this could extend for a significant period of time. And
- 3:59Speaker 6: understand this is the Democrats roar that they hate Donald Trump.
- 4:07Speaker 6: So I got to say. We had the vote tonight.
- 4:09Speaker 6: There was no surprise. Everyone knew the outcome. Out of
- 4:12Speaker 6: one hundred senators, all of us knew the outcome. The
- 4:15Speaker 6: vote was fifty five to forty five, So three Democrat
- 4:20Speaker 6: senators voted to keep the government open.
- 4:24Speaker 3: You have, it was a pretty big deal, right, I mean,
- 4:27Speaker 3: did you think those three were going to go?
- 4:28Speaker 4: Where? Did you think it was going to be a
- 4:29Speaker 4: unanimous vote?
- 4:30Speaker 3: I mean, Fetterman and two others like, that's that is significant.
- 4:34Speaker 5: Yeah, Look Fetterman, I was not surprised.
- 4:36Speaker 6: So Fetterman voted to keep the government open, Cortes Master
- 4:40Speaker 6: voter to keep the government open, and Angus King voted
- 4:42Speaker 6: to keep the government open. That's not shocking to me.
- 4:46Speaker 6: It's fifty five to forty five. Now, why did the
- 4:48Speaker 6: government shut down? Look, the basic operation of government is
- 4:53Speaker 6: the federal government cannot continue to operate unless Congress appropriates funds.
- 4:58Speaker 6: Under the constitution, Congress has the power of the purse,
- 5:01Speaker 6: so Congress appropriates.
- 5:04Speaker 5: The spending of money.
- 5:06Speaker 6: A typical fiscal year is October first to September thirtieth.
- 5:12Speaker 4: YEP.
- 5:13Speaker 6: This particular funding ended at midnight on September thirtieth. You
- 5:17Speaker 6: and I are recording this just after minutes after midnight
- 5:21Speaker 6: on September thirtieth. The appropriation, the authorization for Congress to
- 5:27Speaker 6: spend money, expired minutes ago. Now, there are a couple
- 5:31Speaker 6: of ways you can extend the government funding. One is
- 5:34Speaker 6: an appropriation, and so they're typically in a good year.
- 5:38Speaker 6: They are thirteen appropriation bills that fund each different kind
- 5:42Speaker 6: of major segment of government. For a number of years,
- 5:45Speaker 6: the appropriation bills have not passed. The other major way
- 5:49Speaker 6: that government authorization occurs is through what are called crs.
- 5:54Speaker 6: CR is short for continual resolution. A continued resolution is
- 5:58Speaker 6: essentially Congress saying, what we are spending now, we can
- 6:02Speaker 6: continue continue the status quo identically for X period of time. Now,
- 6:08Speaker 6: the House of Representatives pasted a CR, a clean CR,
- 6:12Speaker 6: to fund the federal government through the middle of November.
- 6:15Speaker 6: So if the Senate had passed it.
- 6:16Speaker 3: All right, Let's be clear, when you say a clean CR,
- 6:19Speaker 3: that means no political.
- 6:21Speaker 4: Shananigans in it.
- 6:22Speaker 3: It's literally saying we're taking the twenty five budget year
- 6:27Speaker 3: and we're going to say the exact same amount we
- 6:29Speaker 3: spent in August, we're gonna spend September, October, November until
- 6:33Speaker 3: we get the new budget. There is no port barrel extras,
- 6:36Speaker 3: there's no political sag against from either side.
- 6:39Speaker 6: Yes, yes, yes, okay. A clean CR says what we
- 6:43Speaker 6: spent yesterday is what we'll spend tomorrow. That everything just
- 6:48Speaker 6: continues the same, and that's what the House has passed.
- 6:52Speaker 5: Now.
- 6:53Speaker 6: The challenge is for anything to pass the Senate that
- 6:56Speaker 6: is in the nature of an appropriations or a CRY,
- 6:59Speaker 6: it takes sixty votes because under the filibuster rule, you've
- 7:04Speaker 6: got to have sixty votes to move forward on legislation. So,
- 7:07Speaker 6: as I mentioned, we got fifty five. We got three Democrats,
- 7:10Speaker 6: but we need sixty, which means we need at least
- 7:14Speaker 6: seven Democrats. And actually here we need eight Democrats because
- 7:18Speaker 6: Ran Paul voted no. So we had fifty two Republicans
- 7:21Speaker 6: vote yes, and we needed eight Democrats to vote yes
- 7:25Speaker 6: to fund the government. Well, we only got three, and.
- 7:30Speaker 4: That was on purpose.
- 7:31Speaker 3: And I want to pause just for a second to
- 7:33Speaker 3: go back to cr historically. Let's just go back to
- 7:37Speaker 3: Biden's time in office when you guys were in the minority.
- 7:42Speaker 3: If I'm not mistaken, you guys did this more than
- 7:45Speaker 3: a dozen times where you came to go.
- 7:46Speaker 4: And say, hey, we maintained a thirteen time.
- 7:49Speaker 3: All right, So thirteen different times y'all came together and said,
- 7:53Speaker 3: we're gonna spend exactly what we spent yesterday to keep
- 7:56Speaker 3: the government open so we avoid a government shut down.
- 8:00Speaker 3: And you put the American people ahead of politics, and
- 8:04Speaker 3: that is a bipartisan moment, right.
- 8:06Speaker 4: They had to have some of your votes.
- 8:07Speaker 6: So look, every time we came to the end of
- 8:10Speaker 6: government funding, you would have enough Republicans joined with Democrats
- 8:14Speaker 6: to keep the government funded. Now what has changed, Well,
- 8:18Speaker 6: several months ago, we had another expiration of government funding.
- 8:21Speaker 6: And what happened is Chuck Schumer and the Democrats decided, Okay,
- 8:25Speaker 6: let's keep the government going, a very reasonable and very
- 8:28Speaker 6: common sense, a very normal decision. The Democratic left wing
- 8:33Speaker 6: base lost their mind yea, and Chuck Schumer nearly lost
- 8:39Speaker 6: his job because Schumer allowed the government to be funded
- 8:42Speaker 6: several months ago, the left wing rose up against him.
- 8:46Speaker 6: And you want to understand why we have a shutdown,
- 8:50Speaker 6: It's one thing. Schumer is looking over his left shoulder
- 8:53Speaker 6: and he sees aoc running up behind him, and he
- 8:57Speaker 6: is terrified he's going to lose job. So listen, Schumer
- 9:02Speaker 6: knows this is not going to work. He knows this
- 9:05Speaker 6: is failures.
- 9:06Speaker 3: Just pure cover your als politics one oh one by Schumer.
- 9:10Speaker 6: So the radical left wing, they hate Trump and they
- 9:15Speaker 6: want today to be a giant f you to Trump.
- 9:19Speaker 6: They want it to be we hate President Trump, and
- 9:23Speaker 6: we hate President Trump so much we're gonna shut the
- 9:25Speaker 6: entire government down because raar, that's what we're watching now.
- 9:31Speaker 3: By the way, So then hold on, when did this
- 9:34Speaker 3: become the plan was this weeks ago, months ago? Was
- 9:37Speaker 3: this when they had the last year? As I got
- 9:39Speaker 3: the next time it comes up, I have no choice.
- 9:40Speaker 3: I got to shut down the government to flex my muscles.
- 9:43Speaker 3: And also there is a real concern by him that
- 9:47Speaker 3: AOC is going to run against him, primary him in
- 9:50Speaker 3: the Senate. By the way, that is after the next
- 9:52Speaker 3: president's election cycle.
- 9:53Speaker 7: Was that?
- 9:54Speaker 3: And that isn't he up two years after? If I'm
- 9:55Speaker 3: not mistaken, So you got five plus years from now.
- 9:58Speaker 6: So and to be clear, predicted on this podcast, the
- 10:02Speaker 6: inaugural member the chairman of the AOC for President campaign
- 10:06Speaker 6: is Chuck Schumer, because he is desperate for AOC not
- 10:10Speaker 6: to primary him. Ye, he's gonna say, Alexandra, you are
- 10:14Speaker 6: such a big deal, you were so important. Really, the
- 10:17Speaker 6: Senate's too small for you. Why do you want to
- 10:20Speaker 6: bother being in the Senate. You should be in the
- 10:22Speaker 6: White House. Schumer is going to be all in on that,
- 10:25Speaker 6: but he is living with absolute PTSD. He is traumatized.
- 10:31Speaker 6: He sees left wing antifa crazies coming around on every side,
- 10:38Speaker 6: and so from his end, this shutdown is necessary politically. Now,
- 10:43Speaker 6: what did the Democrats demand? They demanded a lot of things.
- 10:46Speaker 6: You know what the number one demand was.
- 10:48Speaker 4: What's that?
- 10:49Speaker 6: Free healthcare for illegals all over the country.
- 10:53Speaker 3: By the way, I mean when you think about that
- 10:56Speaker 3: and the polling data and what it says, I don't
- 11:00Speaker 3: understand why that would make your number one thing. Because
- 11:02Speaker 3: it's clear that the people are behind President Trump. Securing
- 11:05Speaker 3: our borders, stopping government waste for aut of abuse dogs
- 11:08Speaker 3: was a big part of it. And also making sure
- 11:10Speaker 3: that we're not giving out benefits to illegal immigrants, like no, no, no,
- 11:13Speaker 3: we want to spend one point five trillion if you
- 11:15Speaker 3: want our votes, and it has to be for health
- 11:18Speaker 3: care for illegal immigrants and food stamps for people that
- 11:20Speaker 3: are able bodied, for example, that refuse to work.
- 11:23Speaker 4: That's another thing, and they're like no, no, no, we buy gal.
- 11:26Speaker 3: You better get mind to people that are just straight
- 11:28Speaker 3: up lazy, that aren't that that have the ability to work,
- 11:31Speaker 3: but you got to pay them to stay home.
- 11:33Speaker 5: Yeah.
- 11:34Speaker 6: A huge pump chunk of this is getting rid of
- 11:36Speaker 6: the work requirement for government benefits. Democrats don't want anyone
- 11:40Speaker 6: to have to work. They wanted them to be able
- 11:42Speaker 6: to sit at home and get government checks. But did
- 11:45Speaker 6: you see the AI video of the White House put out.
- 11:48Speaker 3: Which one they put out a couple different things. Which
- 11:50Speaker 3: one are you talking about?
- 11:51Speaker 6: I want you? I want I want to play this
- 11:54Speaker 6: for everyone. This is fake so so all the nattering
- 11:59Speaker 6: nabobs this fake news. But it is absolutely hysterical the
- 12:03Speaker 6: White House put out. This is Chuck Schumer and a
- 12:06Speaker 6: Keem Jeffries explaining what this shutdown is all about.
- 12:09Speaker 4: Take a listen to this.
- 12:11Speaker 8: Look, guys, there's no way to sugarcoat it.
- 12:14Speaker 9: Nobody likes Democrats anymore.
- 12:16Speaker 8: We have no voters left because of all of our
- 12:18Speaker 8: woke trans bullshit.
- 12:19Speaker 9: Not even black people want to vote for us anymore.
- 12:21Speaker 8: Even Latinos hate us.
- 12:23Speaker 4: So we need new voters.
- 12:25Speaker 9: And if we give all these illegal aliens free healthcare,
- 12:29Speaker 9: we might be able to get them on our side
- 12:31Speaker 9: so they can vote for us. They can't even speak English,
- 12:34Speaker 9: so they won't realize we're just a bunch of woke
- 12:38Speaker 9: pieces of shit, you know, at least for a while
- 12:40Speaker 9: until they learn English and they realize they hate us too.
- 12:44Speaker 3: See, this is when I love AI. This is when
- 12:47Speaker 3: I absolutely love the spear from the President. And if
- 12:50Speaker 3: you can't see this, you need to go look at it.
- 12:52Speaker 4: We put up on.
- 12:53Speaker 3: Social media the videos and Jeffries has got a really
- 12:55Speaker 3: nice Hannibar mustache and a sombrero on.
- 13:00Speaker 6: Look, pause for a second and realize that was released
- 13:05Speaker 6: by the White House. That was released by the President
- 13:09Speaker 6: of the United States.
- 13:10Speaker 5: I feel a.
- 13:10Speaker 6: Little guilty because we've got some cursewords in there. We
- 13:14Speaker 6: try to avoid cursewords on this podcast. But what do
- 13:18Speaker 6: you do when the president has.
- 13:19Speaker 5: Put that out? You pay it.
- 13:22Speaker 6: And I gotta say, the video sits today at lunch.
- 13:26Speaker 6: So every Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday, all the Republican senators
- 13:29Speaker 6: have lunch together. Today at lunch, John Thune met with
- 13:34Speaker 6: the President, met with Schumer, met with the King Jeffries
- 13:36Speaker 6: at the White House, and so Thune was giving us
- 13:40Speaker 6: a download on that. And you know, Thune was talking about, Okay,
- 13:44Speaker 6: the Democrats, they don't want to cut a deal. They're
- 13:45Speaker 6: not willing to give it on anything. And I will confess.
- 13:49Speaker 6: I raised my hand. I question, I said, John was
- 13:53Speaker 6: a king Jeffries wearing the sombrero, and what did he say?
- 13:59Speaker 6: He just like but look and everyone cracked up. But
- 14:03Speaker 6: that image. Listen, the Democrats have literally shut down the
- 14:08Speaker 6: federal government because they want free health care for every illegal.
- 14:12Speaker 5: Alien in America.
- 14:14Speaker 6: Yeah, you want to talk about, like on every issue
- 14:17Speaker 6: that's eighty twenty or even ninety ten, they're on the
- 14:20Speaker 6: twenty or the ten side. The American people do not support.
- 14:24Speaker 6: If you want to have a referendum in this country,
- 14:27Speaker 6: should we give illegals free health care?
- 14:29Speaker 5: Wow? That will be overwhelming. But here's the secret.
- 14:35Speaker 6: This shutdown is not actually about free health care for illegals.
- 14:38Speaker 6: That's what the Democrats have hung their hat on because
- 14:41Speaker 6: they got to say they want.
- 14:42Speaker 4: Some they gotta say something, right.
- 14:44Speaker 6: This is all about just we hate Donald Trump, and
- 14:50Speaker 6: it is Chuck Schumer job preservation. And that also means
- 14:56Speaker 6: the end of this. Okay, there's no universe in which
- 14:59Speaker 6: Chuck Schumer will get President Trump to agree to let's
- 15:04Speaker 6: give free health care to illegals.
- 15:05Speaker 4: Yeah, not gonna happen. They know that.
- 15:07Speaker 5: Yeah, they're entering.
- 15:08Speaker 6: There's no universe in which Republicans in Congress are going
- 15:11Speaker 6: to say, hey, that's a great idea, let's give free
- 15:13Speaker 6: health care to every illegal Like that's you might as
- 15:16Speaker 6: well ask for Area fifty one, like to release the
- 15:20Speaker 6: Martians and let them take over the country. That is
- 15:23Speaker 6: as likely to happen as free health care for illegals
- 15:26Speaker 6: from Republicans. The Democrats know that this is not about
- 15:30Speaker 6: getting what they're demanding. This is about how long do
- 15:35Speaker 6: they want to demonstrate Orange Man bad Yeah and.
- 15:40Speaker 3: So and the radical base is what has put them
- 15:42Speaker 3: in this scenario. Right, I guess do you actually believe
- 15:46Speaker 3: And let's go back to the history of the Senate here.
- 15:50Speaker 3: I don't believe that Chuck Schumer actually wanted to shut
- 15:53Speaker 3: down the government.
- 15:54Speaker 4: No, No, I think he was forced to do it.
- 15:57Speaker 6: Yeah, he would lose his job. He would lose his
- 16:00Speaker 6: if the government was.
- 16:02Speaker 4: It was self preservation. Yes, he In other words, this
- 16:05Speaker 4: is weird.
- 16:06Speaker 3: Chuck Schumer is being held hostage by the Marxist communists
- 16:09Speaker 3: and socialists in his party, which they did not police
- 16:12Speaker 3: and they allowed to take over their party. Then he's
- 16:15Speaker 3: now holding the American people hostage with a government shutdown,
- 16:19Speaker 3: which brings me the big question. Even when we've had
- 16:22Speaker 3: shutdowns in the past, there has been some agreement center like, hey,
- 16:27Speaker 3: certain people should deserve to get paid, those that are
- 16:30Speaker 3: in the military, those badges, like the list is is
- 16:33Speaker 3: not that long, but the essential important people that deserve
- 16:36Speaker 3: to get a paycheck. We don't screw with them when
- 16:39Speaker 3: they're protecting to fing this country. Can you guys, at
- 16:42Speaker 3: least was there an agreement to pay them?
- 16:44Speaker 4: Really?
- 16:45Speaker 3: Okay, so walk us through that, because I'm assuming that
- 16:48Speaker 3: came up at lunch.
- 16:49Speaker 6: So one of the things I did today is I
- 16:52Speaker 6: sent a letter because under the Constitution, members of Congress,
- 16:57Speaker 6: our pay cannot be stopped. It's actually unconstitutional to reduce
- 17:01Speaker 6: the compensation for members of Congress during the term we're
- 17:03Speaker 6: elected to. So I sent a letter, and I've done
- 17:06Speaker 6: this during every shutdown saying while the government is shut down,
- 17:11Speaker 6: don't pay me. It's not fair. It's not right for
- 17:15Speaker 6: an elected member of Congress to receive a paycheck when
- 17:19Speaker 6: federal workers are not. Now, to be clear, I don't
- 17:22Speaker 6: lose my pay when the shutdown is over, I'll get it,
- 17:26Speaker 6: but it's deferred.
- 17:27Speaker 4: But a lot of people don't understand that.
- 17:30Speaker 3: The long which if I think just asinine and I
- 17:34Speaker 3: have family members work in the federal government, and they're like.
- 17:37Speaker 4: The dumb part about this that I think a lot.
- 17:39Speaker 3: Of Americans don't understand, yep, is that you don't miss
- 17:42Speaker 3: a paycheck in your calendar year you just miss a
- 17:47Speaker 3: month and then you get it back data. You get
- 17:49Speaker 3: it back the next time whenever the government does open
- 17:52Speaker 3: back up. And so I know people that are in
- 17:55Speaker 3: the fa for example, they're like, dude, we just plan
- 17:57Speaker 3: our vacations like great trips around shutdowns, as we know,
- 18:00Speaker 3: we're still getting paid.
- 18:01Speaker 4: We save.
- 18:02Speaker 3: Not everybody can do that, but like they've almost pre
- 18:04Speaker 3: planned for this bonus vacation and they're gonna get paid back.
- 18:08Speaker 6: Yeah, but let me make several points of clarification. Sure,
- 18:12Speaker 6: number one, government shut down as a misnomer. More than
- 18:17Speaker 6: eighty percent of the government will continue to operate. So
- 18:20Speaker 6: the basic principle is everything that is essential keeps going.
- 18:25Speaker 6: So the military, our activity and military like defending the
- 18:29Speaker 6: nation against bad guys, that keeps going. The FBI catching
- 18:33Speaker 6: criminals that keeps going, the border patrol and ice that
- 18:37Speaker 6: keeps going. The FAA air traffic controllers. Tomorrow, if you
- 18:42Speaker 6: get it on an airplane, the air traffic controllers.
- 18:44Speaker 5: All go to work.
- 18:45Speaker 6: By the way, the air traffic controllers are not getting
- 18:49Speaker 6: a paycheck, so they're going to work. But every two
- 18:53Speaker 6: weeks federal government employees get paid. Air traffic controllers coast guardsmen, military,
- 18:59Speaker 6: the federal government. Nobody gets a paycheck. And so what
- 19:04Speaker 6: shuts down. Every cabinet secretary was assigned designate among your
- 19:09Speaker 6: employees who is essential and who is not essential. I
- 19:13Speaker 6: remember when Bill Clinton was president, we had to shut
- 19:15Speaker 6: down then remember Newt Gingrich and the Republican Congress were
- 19:19Speaker 6: fighting with Bill Clinton. We had to shut down for
- 19:20Speaker 6: a number of weeks. And I remember there was a
- 19:22Speaker 6: headline that said the Department of Commerce designated thirty percent
- 19:27Speaker 6: of their employees is essential and seventy percent is not essential.
- 19:32Speaker 6: I remember thinking, that's great, we just set a new
- 19:35Speaker 6: benchline all those non essential that's seventy percent.
- 19:38Speaker 5: They ought to be done.
- 19:40Speaker 6: But what that means, so what will be shut down?
- 19:45Speaker 6: Starting October one, national parks will be shut down. So
- 19:48Speaker 6: I got to say, if you were planning to take
- 19:51Speaker 6: your family to Yosemite this weekend, yeah, I'm I'm sorry
- 19:54Speaker 6: to say, you're out of luck.
- 19:56Speaker 5: Yosemite will be closed. If you were coming to d C.
- 19:59Speaker 6: To two are our nation's capital, you wanted to go
- 20:01Speaker 6: to the Smithsonian, go to the Air and Space Museum,
- 20:04Speaker 6: it's the Smithsonian will be shut down. If you look
- 20:08Speaker 6: at things like the National Institute of Health, like research
- 20:11Speaker 6: on cancer, much of that will be shut down all across.
- 20:16Speaker 4: That's non essential.
- 20:17Speaker 3: When people are going to say that seems insane, why
- 20:19Speaker 3: wouldn't we fix that to make sure when we have
- 20:21Speaker 3: these Shenanigans happen that that's not affected.
- 20:25Speaker 6: And I think this shutdown will extend. I think it'll
- 20:29Speaker 6: be weeks. I think it will be Schumer is trying
- 20:33Speaker 6: to protect his own rear end and everything else is
- 20:37Speaker 6: secondary to protecting his own political life. So I think
- 20:40Speaker 6: we will see an extended shutdown.
- 20:42Speaker 4: So is this polling then?
- 20:44Speaker 3: I mean, how do you decide when you won or
- 20:47Speaker 3: you lost if you're Schumer? Because this is not about
- 20:49Speaker 3: the country hating Schumer. This is only about New York.
- 20:53Speaker 3: I'm protecting a seat from AOC, So in essence, you
- 20:57Speaker 3: don't care how many people hate you in the country.
- 20:59Speaker 4: It's only a New York thing, is that? I mean?
- 21:01Speaker 4: Will they do polling? I mean this is weird?
- 21:04Speaker 5: Yeah.
- 21:04Speaker 6: Look, so this is being called the Schumer shutdown. Yeah,
- 21:09Speaker 6: and I gotta say the Democrats are losing the messaging battle.
- 21:14Speaker 6: It is clear this is a Democrat shutdown. There was
- 21:16Speaker 6: actually exchange right before we had the vote on the
- 21:19Speaker 6: CR to keep the government open. And this is a
- 21:21Speaker 6: clean CR. No rioters, no nothing, this is just keep
- 21:24Speaker 6: every keep the lights on, status quo. Schumer stood up
- 21:28Speaker 6: and was speaking, and all the Senators or most of
- 21:31Speaker 6: us were standing on the Senate floor, and Schumer said, look,
- 21:35Speaker 6: there's been reference to polling, but the polling has been biased.
- 21:40Speaker 6: It's been right wing polling, for example, the New York Times.
- 21:46Speaker 6: And I gotta tell you, I and every other Republican
- 21:48Speaker 6: we just started cracking up, laughing, and you could see
- 21:51Speaker 6: Schumer he actually turned red. He looked sheepish because he
- 21:55Speaker 6: just said on the Senate floor that the New York
- 21:58Speaker 6: Times was a biased right wing poll.
- 22:02Speaker 4: Yeah, seriously.
- 22:04Speaker 6: And it was a moment where where like Schumer, you
- 22:07Speaker 6: saw Democrats looking at.
- 22:08Speaker 5: Him going, dude, you look like that's weak.
- 22:12Speaker 6: And that's because the New York Times did a poll
- 22:16Speaker 6: if the Democrats don't get everything they want, should they
- 22:18Speaker 6: shut the government down? And sixty five percent of Americans
- 22:21Speaker 6: said no, don't shut the government down. It was a
- 22:24Speaker 6: small percentage. It was just over twenty percent of Americans
- 22:28Speaker 6: that said yes, shut the government down. So that's who
- 22:31Speaker 6: the Democrats are responding to. But they've got Schumer's message
- 22:35Speaker 6: is the New York.
- 22:36Speaker 5: Times is a right wing mouthpiece.
- 22:39Speaker 6: And how dare you tell the American people that we,
- 22:43Speaker 6: the Democrats, are shutting the government down. This is headed
- 22:46Speaker 6: to failure. Everyone knows that. Every Republican knows that, every
- 22:50Speaker 6: Democrat knows that. Is there an outcome where Republicans say, okay, great,
- 22:55Speaker 6: let's fund healthcare free illegals. No, the Democrats will give in.
- 23:00Speaker 6: Democrats voted to fund the government. What will happen is
- 23:03Speaker 6: the government is shut down. People are gonna get ticked off,
- 23:07Speaker 6: people are gonna want to like use by the way,
- 23:10Speaker 6: things like passport services will be greatly reduced. All sorts
- 23:14Speaker 6: of government now listen. The military keeps going, law enforcement
- 23:18Speaker 6: keep going, Social Security keeps going, Medicare keeps going, Medicaid
- 23:21Speaker 6: keeps going, an awful lot of government keeps going. But
- 23:25Speaker 6: the lack of government being open will be a serious function.
- 23:29Speaker 6: And at some point we will see seven or eight
- 23:33Speaker 6: Democrats say enough is enough, reopen the government.
- 23:36Speaker 5: That will happen.
- 23:37Speaker 6: But let me tell you a huge piece that is
- 23:39Speaker 6: an X factor in this, which is russ vote. Who
- 23:44Speaker 6: is the head of OMB, the Office of Management and
- 23:47Speaker 6: budget works for the White House. He put out a
- 23:49Speaker 6: memo a week ago that said, if there is a
- 23:53Speaker 6: government shutdown, we are going to lay off federal workers.
- 23:58Speaker 6: We're not going to give them a furlough.
- 24:00Speaker 4: This is hol on.
- 24:01Speaker 3: This is the brilliant game of chess that was early
- 24:05Speaker 3: on preemptive. Ye warning you do this, and here's what
- 24:10Speaker 3: we were going to do. And this might be one
- 24:13Speaker 3: of the best moves I've seen politically in a long
- 24:15Speaker 3: time in DC, which is go ahead, do it and
- 24:19Speaker 3: watch what happens, because a lot of people are gonna
- 24:20Speaker 3: get loser jobs. And that's going to be on you
- 24:23Speaker 3: guys for allowing it to happen. Right, So explain all that.
- 24:26Speaker 6: Yes, So Russ is a good friend, he's a strong conservative,
- 24:30Speaker 6: he's a strong fiscal conservative. And what he said is, listen,
- 24:33Speaker 6: if Congress decides not to fund the federal government, we're
- 24:37Speaker 6: going to react to that. By the White House is
- 24:41Speaker 6: instructed every cabinet agency to prepare a plan for a riff,
- 24:46Speaker 6: a reduction in force to give permanent layoffs pink slips
- 24:50Speaker 6: to government bureaucrats who are left wing bureaucrats who are
- 24:54Speaker 6: advancing the priorities of the Democrat Party. So what you
- 24:58Speaker 6: are going to see in the next few days. You're
- 25:02Speaker 6: going to see bureaucrats at the EPA fired. You're gonna
- 25:06Speaker 6: see bureaucrats at the Department of Labor fired. You're gonna
- 25:11Speaker 6: see bureaucrats at the RS fired. And within a couple
- 25:16Speaker 6: of days we're gonna see Democrat senators. They're going to
- 25:19Speaker 6: be in their lunches screaming at each other because this is,
- 25:23Speaker 6: frankly an excuse for the Trump administration to do what
- 25:26Speaker 6: they wanted to do anyway, which is get rid of
- 25:29Speaker 6: left wing bureaucrats. But they now have an incredible justification,
- 25:33Speaker 6: which is, hey, Congress chose not to fund them, so
- 25:38Speaker 6: instead of giving them a paid vacation, stay home several
- 25:42Speaker 6: weeks and then we'll pay you back pay and come
- 25:44Speaker 6: back to your job. They're gonna even pick slip and
- 25:47Speaker 6: say you're done. You no longer have a job. And
- 25:50Speaker 6: I think that is going to ratchet up the pressure
- 25:52Speaker 6: on Democrats massively.
- 25:54Speaker 3: So how quickly can these firings take place, how massive
- 25:58Speaker 3: could they be today? And how much research has been
- 26:02Speaker 3: done behind the scenes to get rid of a lot
- 26:05Speaker 3: of these woke bureaucrats that that we've been wanting to
- 26:08Speaker 3: get rid of, that the presidents wanted to get rid of,
- 26:11Speaker 3: the cabinet secretaries of wanting to get rid of like
- 26:13Speaker 3: I mean, I'm assuming they're burning the midnight oil kind
- 26:16Speaker 3: of like Doag did. Let's find the people we want
- 26:18Speaker 3: to get rid of, and this is our chance to
- 26:20Speaker 3: do it. And and by the way, once it's done,
- 26:22Speaker 3: like it's not like he got one from their jobs back,
- 26:25Speaker 3: like it's done.
- 26:26Speaker 6: So I think that starts happening today. I think October one,
- 26:31Speaker 6: you start.
- 26:31Speaker 5: Seeing pink slips.
- 26:33Speaker 6: I think we will see left wing bureaucrats fired today.
- 26:38Speaker 6: I think we'll see them fired tomorrow.
- 26:41Speaker 5: You know.
- 26:41Speaker 6: This evening, I had dinner with the Deputy Secretary of
- 26:44Speaker 6: HHS who's a longtime friend of mine. He was actually
- 26:47Speaker 6: a grooms in my wedding. Great guy, I asked him.
- 26:50Speaker 6: I said, Okay, the White House asked every cabinet agency
- 26:53Speaker 6: preparing list of people for the riff, and he said, yeah,
- 26:58Speaker 6: we're doing that. He said, every agency, when the White
- 27:00Speaker 6: House directs us to do that, we do that. We're
- 27:03Speaker 6: going to see I think hundreds, if not thousands, of
- 27:05Speaker 6: left wing bureaucrats fired in the next several days. I
- 27:09Speaker 6: think that's going to put the Democrat Party in crisis.
- 27:13Speaker 6: And by the way, we're not going to fire people
- 27:16Speaker 6: that are critical for the priorities you, you and I
- 27:19Speaker 6: care about. So we're not going to see Border patrol
- 27:22Speaker 6: agents who are securing the border fired. We're not going
- 27:24Speaker 6: to see ICE agents who are deporting gang bangers fired.
- 27:28Speaker 6: We're not going to see FBI agents who are catching pedophiles,
- 27:32Speaker 6: We're not going to see them fired. We're not going
- 27:34Speaker 6: to see soldiers and sailors and airmen and marines who
- 27:37Speaker 6: are keeping this nation safe, We're not going to see
- 27:40Speaker 6: them fired. We're going to see bureaucrats who are shutting
- 27:43Speaker 6: down factories, who are destroying jobs, who are pursuing radical
- 27:50Speaker 6: left wing agendas. They're going to be the ones fired,
- 27:54Speaker 6: and ultimately the Democrats are going to cave. The only
- 27:57Speaker 6: question is how long Schumer wants to go through the
- 28:01Speaker 6: charade before he gives in.
- 28:04Speaker 3: Which brings me my final question, that is the media
- 28:06Speaker 3: does seem to be covering this a little bit more
- 28:09Speaker 3: with honesty than I've ever seen them before. Today there
- 28:12Speaker 3: was a viral clip that is the tables have been
- 28:15Speaker 3: turned Democrats are now literally under fire for a clip
- 28:20Speaker 3: that shows them slamming government shut down tactics, the same
- 28:23Speaker 3: ones they're accused of using right now. And here's what
- 28:26Speaker 3: it sounded like back in twenty eighteen. In December of
- 28:28Speaker 3: twenty eighteen, Donald Trump was President Chuck schimern An's posi
- 28:32Speaker 3: in the Oval office.
- 28:33Speaker 8: Listen, we do not want to shut down the government
- 28:35Speaker 8: because you can't you shut it down. Yeah, can me
- 28:38Speaker 8: say something, mister President of North Dakota and the.
- 28:41Speaker 7: Most unfortunate And we came in here in good faith
- 28:44Speaker 7: and we're entering into this kind of a discussion in
- 28:49Speaker 7: the public.
- 28:52Speaker 4: Transparency.
- 28:53Speaker 7: I know, it's high transparency when we're not certipulating to
- 28:56Speaker 7: a set of facts.
- 28:58Speaker 4: I mean, you listen to that one. They're like, we're
- 28:59Speaker 4: in favor of it.
- 29:01Speaker 3: And then the speaker also put out a very interesting
- 29:06Speaker 3: video montage reminding people the same thing, like, Hey, you
- 29:11Speaker 3: guys think that it's the Democrats Mike Johnson putting this
- 29:14Speaker 3: out And here he is and what he said to
- 29:16Speaker 3: remind the people about Democrats in their own words, it
- 29:22Speaker 3: is not.
- 29:23Speaker 9: Normal to shut down the government when we don't get
- 29:25Speaker 9: what we want.
- 29:26Speaker 8: If the government shuts down it will be average Americans
- 29:29Speaker 8: who suffer most. A government shutdown means seniors who rely
- 29:33Speaker 8: on Social Security could be thrown into chaos.
- 29:36Speaker 4: Families will be hurt, Farmers will be hurt.
- 29:39Speaker 1: It's the service members who will work without a paycheck.
- 29:43Speaker 4: It's the firefighters who will be furlough.
- 29:46Speaker 7: This shut down.
- 29:47Speaker 4: You know who's gonna feel the pain.
- 29:49Speaker 8: You know who it hurts you?
- 29:51Speaker 2: Everyday people and the most vulnerable seniors, veterans, working families,
- 29:56Speaker 2: hungary kids. Y'all.
- 30:02Speaker 4: Democrats are signally they're ready for a fight this time.
- 30:05Speaker 4: Schuma tells the Associated Press, Well.
- 30:07Speaker 9: Things have changed. It is not normal to shut down
- 30:10Speaker 9: the government when we don't get what we want.
- 30:14Speaker 3: I mean, I love them using AOC's words. I feel
- 30:17Speaker 3: like the media has changed a little bit. Here your
- 30:19Speaker 3: thoughts on.
- 30:20Speaker 6: That, well, I'm impressed that you recognize AOC's voice.
- 30:24Speaker 5: I didn't know.
- 30:25Speaker 6: I knew that was a shrill Democrat. I didn't know
- 30:27Speaker 6: who that was, So I appreciate that clarity. Listen, every
- 30:32Speaker 6: single Democrat, I think, without exception, has gone on record
- 30:36Speaker 6: being against shutdowns. The fact that they shut it all
- 30:39Speaker 6: down today demonstrates what utter hypocrites they are and I
- 30:43Speaker 6: got to say as I was walking off the Senate floor.
- 30:46Speaker 6: So I voted to fund the government this afternoon. The
- 30:50Speaker 6: Democrats voted against it and caused a shut down. All
- 30:54Speaker 6: the reporters were circling and they're talking. Point that they
- 30:57Speaker 6: really wanted to press is they said, Okay, Cruise in
- 31:01Speaker 6: twenty thirteen, in the fight over Obamacare, you Ted Cruz
- 31:07Speaker 6: forced to shut down. Isn't that what the Democrats are
- 31:10Speaker 6: doing now? And I just started laughing at them, and
- 31:13Speaker 6: I said, look, number one, in twenty thirteen, when I
- 31:17Speaker 6: did a twenty one hour filibuster on the floor, I
- 31:21Speaker 6: was fighting for Americans. I was fighting for American citizens
- 31:25Speaker 6: whose healthcare premiums had skyrocketed, and they had skyrocketed because
- 31:29Speaker 6: Obamacare was a train wreck. It was a disaster. It
- 31:32Speaker 6: caused a massive increase in health insurance premiums. It made
- 31:36Speaker 6: the health insurance companies rich, and it made millions of
- 31:41Speaker 6: ordinary Americans unable to afford health insurance. And by the way,
- 31:45Speaker 6: I was also fighting for it at a time when
- 31:48Speaker 6: the House of Representatives that was Republican had voted to
- 31:52Speaker 6: fund the federal government, fund the entirety of the federal government,
- 31:56Speaker 6: but not fund Obamacare, so not fund the law that
- 32:00Speaker 6: was causing damage to American citizens. And I said, here,
- 32:03Speaker 6: what's happening is Chuck Schumer is shutting down the federal
- 32:07Speaker 6: government not to help American citizens who are getting hurt,
- 32:10Speaker 6: but he's shutting down the federal government in order to
- 32:13Speaker 6: help millions of illegal aliens and give them free healthcare.
- 32:18Speaker 6: And he's willing to shut down your federal government to
- 32:21Speaker 6: give free health care to illegals, and that fundamentally there's
- 32:26Speaker 6: a hypocrisy to it. And I also said, you know,
- 32:30Speaker 6: the reporters were like, isn't it the same, And I said, listen,
- 32:32Speaker 6: let me be clear. In twenty thirteen it was Chuck
- 32:38Speaker 6: Schumer who shut the government down. Then I was trying
- 32:41Speaker 6: to fund the entirety of the federal government except for Obamacare,
- 32:44Speaker 6: and Chuck Schumer and Harry Reid decided, no, we'll shut
- 32:47Speaker 6: it all down because we care so much about socialized medicine.
- 32:51Speaker 6: And I told the reporters. We had like fifty reporters
- 32:53Speaker 6: standing outside the Senate floor and I said, look, none
- 32:56Speaker 6: of you guys reported that. You all blamed the shutdown
- 32:59Speaker 6: on me because you're left wing hacks. Yeah, today all
- 33:04Speaker 6: of you are still left wing hacks. You agree with
- 33:07Speaker 6: the Democrats, but the facts are so overwhelming. It is
- 33:11Speaker 6: Chuck Schumer and the Democrats who are shutting the government
- 33:14Speaker 6: down that even you dishonest liars are reporting. This is
- 33:18Speaker 6: the Schumer shutdown because the House has funded the government
- 33:23Speaker 6: exactly the status quo. The funding yesterday has continued to tomorrow.
- 33:29Speaker 6: It is the Democrats who said let's shut it down,
- 33:32Speaker 6: and I think at the end of the day they're
- 33:34Speaker 6: going to lose that battle. But this is what you
- 33:37Speaker 6: got to ask yourself is how long do the Democrats
- 33:40Speaker 6: have to perform for their crazy left wing activists before
- 33:45Speaker 6: they allow the government to reopen.
