  I'm thinking today of the short verse in 2 Corinthians 7 verse 6.

  It says, but God who comforts the depressed comforted us by the coming of Jesus.

  God, I see you are a God who comforts the depressed.

  If there is comfort in God and depression, then why do some people go into depression

  and not find comfort?

  Is it because they are not looking for God?

  Is it because like Pharaoh, their hearts are hardened and the solution is unthinkable and

  they have remained there and not met God face to face?

  Is it because God has allowed an evil spirit to torment them as he did Saul?

  These things, the reasons why, they are beyond my full knowledge.

  As we must proceed having not met God face to face, I can only imagine.

  I don't know what looking at all the things of this world, questioning why they are the
• 0:46
  way they are can do to us when we are depressed without the comfort of God.

  I'm of a mind to say that everybody gets depressed eventually or at some point.

  I'm also of a mind to think that this depression is something different than what doctors are
• 0:58
  calling clinical depression.

  This is a fact.

  God comforts the depressed.

  It's true that God is our way up and out of every difficult situation.

  Even if we are taking medicine, attending counseling or working a plan for depression,

  we should be going to God and consistently.

  Notice too that his methods are his own.

  Wrapped up in that little word by in this verse is the idea that he can do it by his
• 1:23
  chosen method and in this case, the coming of one of his servants.

  But in our lives, it might be through the counseling, through the medication, through
• 1:32
  our experiences or by confiding in a pastor or a doctor.

  Find the help that God has prepared for you.
• 1:38
  If you're in depression, get the help you need and give God the glory.
