Speaker 2: Ryan Coogler's horror masterpiece Sinners is in many ways a

Speaker 2: the man who introduced Ryan to the music, his late

  Speaker 2: uncle James.
• 0:12
Speaker 1: Yeah, a huge blues fan.

Speaker 3: began to listen to all the blues in a new

Speaker 4: to ask Buddy if he'd make a cameo on Sinners.

Speaker 2: years was the premiere of Ryan's own debut, Fruit Veil Station.
• 0:46
Speaker 2: And because he associated a Buddy with his uncle, he
• 0:48
Speaker 2: assumed Buddy would have zero interest in a sinner's role.
• 0:51
Speaker 2: Well he was wrong. Yeah.
• 0:52
Speaker 3: When they finally met up in a blues club for
• 0:54
Speaker 3: Ryan to pitch him, Buddy had brought his whole family,
• 0:57
Speaker 3: I mean his grandkids that were massive black.
• 0:59
Speaker 2: Panther before he could even get the pitch out, but
