- 0:01Good morning, everyone. This is Dina from the Rory Blue Candle,
- 0:05also known as Mentor 365 Services Incorporated.
- 0:10And today we will discuss Chapter 5, Restoring Your Identity,
- 0:15Remembering Who You Are.
- 0:18Welcome back to The Healing Mind. In our last chapter, we explored resilience,
- 0:24how to rise after the fall, but rising is only the beginning.
- 0:30Today, we are going deeper into the question, who am I now?
- 0:36When you have walked through pain, loss, or trauma, it can feel like your old identity shattered.
- 0:45You may find yourself asking, who am I without what I lost? Or how do I trust myself again?
- 0:52This chapter is about rediscovering who you are, not the version the world told
- 0:58you to be, but the one God originally designed you to be.
- 1:04Sometimes losing yourself doesn't happen all at once.
- 1:08It happens slowly, through heartbreak, burnt out, people-pleasing,
- 1:15or constant need to prove your worth.
- 1:18You start silencing your voice to keep the peace.
- 1:22You shrink your dreams to fit into someone else's comfort zone.
- 1:29You forget the sound of your own soul. And one day you look in the mirror and
- 1:34realize you don't recognize yourself anymore. But here's the truth.
- 1:39You were never lost, only buried.
- 1:43Beneath the layers of pain, performance, and perfectionism, your true self has
- 1:50always been waiting, patient, kind, and whole.
- 1:55In the scripture, your identity isn't based on what you do. It's based on who you belong to.
- 2:04Ephesians 2.10 says, For we are God's masterpiece created in Christ Jesus to do good works.
- 2:13You are a masterpiece, not because of your achievement, not because of how strong
- 2:19you appear, but because you were intentionally designed, fearfully and wonderfully made.
- 2:27The enemy of peace tries to make you forget that. He whispered lies.
- 2:33You are not enough. You have failed. You are too broken.
- 2:37But God speaks the truth. You are chosen. You are whole. You are loved.
- 2:44Restoring your identity begins when you choose which voice to believe. Thank you.
- 2:53In mental health, we call this process reclaiming your self-concept.
- 2:59It means reconnecting with your authentic self, your values,
- 3:04strengths, emotions, and desire.
- 3:07When trauma or toxic environment distort your sense of worth,
- 3:12your brain develops survival roles, like the caregiver, the achiever, or the peacemaker.
- 3:22Those roles protect you in pain, but they can also trap you in cycles of self abandonment.
- 3:29Healing happens when you realize the role I play was never my identity.
- 3:37You're not just what you had to be to survive.
- 3:43You are who you were created to be, thrive.
- 3:51To rebuild your identity, begin with connection with God, with yourself,
- 3:58and with safe community.
- 4:02So, number one, connection with God. Spend time in stillness,
- 4:07not performing, not praying for outcomes, just being.
- 4:12In silence, you discover His voice, the one that calls you beloved.
- 4:192. Connection with self.
- 4:23Journal about what brings you peace, not what brings you productivity.
- 4:28Ask, what makes me feel alive? What values feel true to my spirit?
- 4:353. Connection with others. Healing is not meant to be done in isolation.
- 4:41Find spaces whether therapy faith groups or creative communities where you can be your,
- 4:51unfiltered self because your identity is not rebuilt in performance it's rebuilt in relationship.
- 5:01So here are some guided reflection tools i use with clients or patients and
- 5:06listeners who are rediscovering their sense of self.
- 5:11One, the true self-visualization. Close your eyes.
- 5:17Imagine a version of you before the world told you to be different.
- 5:23The child you laugh freely, dream boldly and love easily.
- 5:28See her standing in front of you.
- 5:31Now whisper, I remember you and let her know she's safe to come home.
- 5:37To the who i am journal practice every morning write one truth about yourself
- 5:45begin with i am for example i am worthy of love and rest i am growing in grace
- 5:53i am no longer defined by my past.
- 5:58By rewriting your self-narrative, you rewire your brain toward self-compassion and confidence.
- 6:05Number three, the release and replace ritual.
- 6:10Write down every label or belief that no longer serve you.
- 6:15Unworthy, invisible, too much, not enough.
- 6:20Then out loud, say, I release this and replace it with the truth.
- 6:25I am seen, I am loved, I am enough.
- 6:30So I'm going to tell you a biblical story, the prodigal and the return.
- 6:35In Luke 15, the prodigal son left home chasing identity in a success invalidation.
- 6:43When it all fell apart, he returned not to shame but to embrace.
- 6:48That's when what returning to your true identity feels like. right?
- 6:57That's not about earning your way back to God. It's about remembering you were
- 7:01never truly separated from His love.
- 7:06He doesn't ask where you have been. He celebrates that you came home.
- 7:16Now, I'm going to talk about affirmations to restore your identity.
- 7:21I am created with divine intention. My worth is not up for debate.
- 7:26I no longer shrink to be accepted.
- 7:28I am returning to my true self, healed, whole, and free.
- 7:33Healing is not about becoming someone new. It's about remembering who you have
- 7:40always been beneath the pain.
- 7:43It's about letting go of the false identities and standing tall in the truth of your worth.
- 7:50You are not broken beyond repaired. You are being rebuilt with purpose.
- 7:55So this chapter 5, restoring your identity, remembering who you are,
- 8:01right? In our next chapter, we will explore the power of boundaries and sacred self-protection.
- 8:08How to protect your peace without guilt and honor your energy while still walking in love.
- 8:15Thank you so much. Take care.
