- 1:24Speaker 1: She's on the call. I met her in Virginia. My
- 1:27Speaker 1: next guest. I met her in Virginia. She's an international
- 1:31Speaker 1: pro drag race, so she's been promoting. She knows about
- 1:34Speaker 1: social media because she's been on social media all morning.
- 1:36Speaker 1: Join me on LinkedIn, Facebook, and me. She's a professional speaker, ambassador, model,
- 1:42Speaker 1: media personnelity and most importantly, a youth advocate. She's the
- 1:46Speaker 1: co owner of a trucking business locate in the Richmond, Virginia,
- 1:49Speaker 1: and she drives a semi track attractor trickler. Let me
- 1:52Speaker 1: tell you, so, that's that's the biggest truck you can drive,
- 1:54Speaker 1: a tractor track. Please working with money making a conversation
- 1:57Speaker 1: Destiny Spurlock had. Good morning, guys, thank you. It's so
- 2:03Speaker 1: exciting to First of all, you know, I met her
- 2:07Speaker 1: at at a reception for a rugged Rugged Evolution, which
- 2:10Speaker 1: is a Beard product, and she was in there. I
- 2:12Speaker 1: had a h I want to say, boyfriend bodyguard where
- 2:15Speaker 1: there was some big dude with her. Okay, so so
- 2:19Speaker 1: I didn't even go over there. It's even what I
- 2:21Speaker 1: learned is I don't just gonna walk over the people
- 2:23Speaker 1: who got big people next to them. I stay away.
- 2:26Speaker 1: So she had this big dude next year and then
- 2:28Speaker 1: her then a publicist came over and introduced us and
- 2:30Speaker 1: we became friends. She's not gonna havend me go over
- 2:33Speaker 1: there to the model slashing ambassador. Everybody was pointing at
- 2:37Speaker 1: the two you know, you know, she's a drag racer,
- 2:40Speaker 1: she's a you know, she's a she rides those bikes,
- 2:43Speaker 1: you know, those high speed bikes. And then somebody told
- 2:45Speaker 1: me she drove those tractor trails. Because I'm just looking
- 2:48Speaker 1: at this because she's a model. So no, tractor trailers
- 2:51Speaker 1: don't associate themselves with a models driving. So you're you're
- 2:56Speaker 1: a truck owner and you and before we even get started,
- 2:58Speaker 1: you're going to make an a now spent on the
- 3:00Speaker 1: show today, yes, yesterday. Let's do that right now. This
- 3:04Speaker 1: big announcements drum roll, because she's on money Making Conversation.
- 3:07Speaker 1: You only come on Money Make Conversation to make big announcements,
- 3:11Speaker 1: Destiny Spurlock, what do you have to announce? What I
- 3:15Speaker 1: have to announce is that I am in the process
- 3:18Speaker 1: of getting ready to race the two thousand nineteen Late
- 3:22Speaker 1: Model NASCAR Racing Series. Um, it'll be my rookie year.
- 3:25Speaker 1: So we are in preparation as we speak right now
- 3:29Speaker 1: to get ready for that season next year. Good. So,
- 3:33Speaker 1: let me just ask you this about this. Okay, Okay,
- 3:35Speaker 1: You're based through Richmond and you own a your co
- 3:38Speaker 1: owner of a truck and business. What does a trucking business? Okay? So, Um,
- 3:43Speaker 1: the name of my business is Skygo Logistics and I'm
- 3:47Speaker 1: a co owner with my cousin and it's here in Richmond, Virginia.
- 3:50Speaker 1: But we travel all over the place. Uh. Like I said,
- 3:53Speaker 1: I drove eighteen wheelers. Believe it or not, I know
- 3:55Speaker 1: I'm super small. I do do that. And um, we
- 3:59Speaker 1: basically train is port um cargo from a point A
- 4:03Speaker 1: to point B. So yeah, see, would you say that,
- 4:06Speaker 1: like you know, yeah, you know, big deal? Really you
- 4:08Speaker 1: know that people I do kid drive stick shift in
- 4:11Speaker 1: a little a little Honda. Okay, so let's go and
- 4:14Speaker 1: be real about this. So you have a professional license, uh,
- 4:17Speaker 1: because if that's a special license that comes with driving
- 4:20Speaker 1: those type of vehicles. Correct, Yes, sir, I have a
- 4:23Speaker 1: CDO Class A license. I did not go to school
- 4:26Speaker 1: for most people do, but I literally studied the book
- 4:29Speaker 1: for two and a half weeks, got my learners. Then
- 4:32Speaker 1: you have to wait thirty days to go be able
- 4:34Speaker 1: to take the road test, and I passed that on
- 4:36Speaker 1: my first time, which is actually kind of a big deal,
- 4:38Speaker 1: not to to my own horn, but most people fail,
- 4:42Speaker 1: like I think the percentage is something like nineties something
- 4:44Speaker 1: per cent of people that take the test that first
- 4:46Speaker 1: time fail. But I was blessed enough to be able
- 4:49Speaker 1: to pass it on my first go, So that's kind
- 4:51Speaker 1: of cool. So, yes, you have to have a special
- 4:54Speaker 1: license because when I met it, because you you hear,
- 4:57Speaker 1: if you hear a touch of humbleness in a voice,
- 5:01Speaker 1: that's who I met. That's why she's on my show
- 5:03Speaker 1: because people would like her I'm gonna just say, like
- 5:06Speaker 1: her tender, uh need somebody like Rashan McDonald toot their
- 5:10Speaker 1: horn because they are special people, because then she got it,
- 5:15Speaker 1: you know, because you're going into lanes of success that
- 5:19Speaker 1: are not charted very often by females. Correct, very true,
- 5:24Speaker 1: That is absolutely correct. I am in a lot of
- 5:27Speaker 1: male dominated um fields, which is okay with me, but
- 5:32Speaker 1: let measure this. So let's let's just this is this
- 5:35Speaker 1: is a male talking You are attractive, Okay, you are,
- 5:39Speaker 1: and these are just you know what you see you're
- 5:42Speaker 1: you're not you know, they're not muscles sprouted now all
- 5:44Speaker 1: over your arms and everything, and you know you don't
- 5:46Speaker 1: look like you you know, so so I'm looking at
- 5:49Speaker 1: a slender person attractive because you've got a nice height
- 5:52Speaker 1: on you, so you look like an athlete. Okay, let's
- 5:56Speaker 1: go and give your respect there. But can people like
- 5:59Speaker 1: underest mate you or just kind of like, oh, she's
- 6:02Speaker 1: not really that good based on how she looks, or
- 6:05Speaker 1: based on how what they think you can do. Do
- 6:07Speaker 1: you get do you get offended by that? I don't
- 6:11Speaker 1: get offended by it. It's so second nature to me now,
- 6:14Speaker 1: from starting when I was younger. I played football in
- 6:17Speaker 1: middle school in or high school, and everybody's like, oh,
- 6:20Speaker 1: you're a girl, you're small, you can't do that. So
- 6:23Speaker 1: with me starting with that and now me racing drig
- 6:27Speaker 1: racing motorcycles, and me getting into UM the cars Late
- 6:30Speaker 1: Model Series, it's in me driving chacor turlers. They're all
- 6:35Speaker 1: male dominated. Feel like the field is all male dominated.
- 6:38Speaker 1: So I'm used to people looking at me, they're like,
- 6:40Speaker 1: you really do that. I'm like, yeah, So it's really
- 6:43Speaker 1: cool to me because, um, I like the fact that
- 6:46Speaker 1: other young girls and boys and everything men and women
- 6:50Speaker 1: can look at me and say, hey, if she can
- 6:52Speaker 1: do it, I can do it too. So it's kind
- 6:54Speaker 1: of like I'm a role model, so I don't get
- 6:56Speaker 1: offended by it. It's it's like I'm a walking billboard
- 6:59Speaker 1: to say, hey, my little my daughter and my son,
- 7:02Speaker 1: they can do this since she's doing it too. So,
- 7:05Speaker 1: So you you mentioned football, playing football, which you mayo
- 7:08Speaker 1: dominated sport. How did you get into racing. I got
- 7:12Speaker 1: into racing because my godfather he UM race motorcycles, and
- 7:17Speaker 1: I went to the race track when I was twelve
- 7:18Speaker 1: years old, and I was like, I don't want to
- 7:21Speaker 1: do that, So For my seventeenth birthday, my mom got
- 7:24Speaker 1: me my first motorcycle and I was able to race it,
- 7:27Speaker 1: and then I got to race the BMW's there for
- 7:30Speaker 1: sports bike and I set the record on it. And
- 7:33Speaker 1: once I got on that motorcycle, I really fell in
- 7:36Speaker 1: love with racing and the speed and what I could
- 7:38Speaker 1: do in the sport. So now I'm hooked. I'm really
- 7:41Speaker 1: hooked now. I uh, when I was, I think when
- 7:45Speaker 1: I got out of college, I I drove, I was
- 7:48Speaker 1: on lights is now motorcycles. Oh, I'm telling I was
- 7:53Speaker 1: out there. You're out there popping wheelies. And then um,
- 7:57Speaker 1: I stopped popping wheelies when my best friend popped it
- 8:01Speaker 1: right into a tree. So oh yeah, I gotta tell
- 8:04Speaker 1: the truth now, you know. And I wouldn't visit them
- 8:06Speaker 1: when he's sign he's fine, he's fine. But he looked
- 8:09Speaker 1: from the hospital though, because that's bread leg. He had
- 8:12Speaker 1: cast on both of his arms and his legs. So
- 8:14Speaker 1: here's a tree for real. And I say that because
- 8:17Speaker 1: you know, when people see individuals like you, they can
- 8:21Speaker 1: assume that it's it's something that they it's easily done
- 8:24Speaker 1: there that you can you see something on TV, just
- 8:27Speaker 1: do it That's why they always put underneath. Do not
- 8:29Speaker 1: try this on TV home home. These are experts, these
- 8:34Speaker 1: are stunt people. Because my friend, he went right into
- 8:38Speaker 1: that tree and I never ever drove a motorcycle again
- 8:43Speaker 1: after that day because of the fact that I was
- 8:46Speaker 1: not there, that I was out there playing around. I was,
- 8:49Speaker 1: I was joking around, and he had the license, so
- 8:50Speaker 1: he's I just ride his bike, you know. And so
- 8:53Speaker 1: so when when I see individuals like you, who what
- 8:57Speaker 1: inspires you to race? What is that? Because it's dangerous,
- 9:00Speaker 1: it's dangerous destiny, Come on now, it is very dangerous.
- 9:05Speaker 1: But what inspires me is it's in me. It's my passion.
- 9:09Speaker 1: Like when I hear a motorcycle or our car for
- 9:12Speaker 1: that matter, I get excited. When I smell the race fuel,
- 9:15Speaker 1: I get excited. Um, it's just literally I was born
- 9:18Speaker 1: in two of my grandfather he used to race cars
- 9:20Speaker 1: back in the day. So I think it's just one
- 9:22Speaker 1: of those things that's literally in my in my bloodline.
- 9:25Speaker 1: And to also see other racers like um Bubba Wallas
- 9:29Speaker 1: he's even though he just had a right which I
- 9:31Speaker 1: prayed that. I'm glad he's okay, But to see him
- 9:34Speaker 1: stepping that platform and you know, be able to be
- 9:37Speaker 1: that role model for me. I think that's amazing. Um
- 9:40Speaker 1: Peggy Llewellen and n HR eight, she's another woman that
- 9:43Speaker 1: races UM super fast motorcycles and me seeing them, it
- 9:47Speaker 1: drives me and it excites me and it's a part
- 9:50Speaker 1: of me and I'm really well, I'm a really great
- 9:53Speaker 1: racer added too, So it just makes me want to
- 9:55Speaker 1: keep going and be that role model for other people,
- 9:57Speaker 1: just like other people are role models for me. What
- 10:00Speaker 1: is a race? Just playing that to my Audia, what
- 10:03Speaker 1: exactly is a race that would you would say you're
- 10:05Speaker 1: a drag racer? What is that? Okay? So drag racing.
- 10:08Speaker 1: Drag racing is it's two racers, one on the left lane,
- 10:12Speaker 1: one on the right lane, and it's a it's called
- 10:13Speaker 1: a Christmas tree. So their lights in the middle and
- 10:15Speaker 1: when they dropped, once the green light goes, that means
- 10:18Speaker 1: you have to go, and it's in a straight line.
- 10:20Speaker 1: Late model race car racing is a circle track. So
- 10:24Speaker 1: like NASCAR what you see on TV, it's that type
- 10:26Speaker 1: of track. Um, there's two different, completely two different things. Um,
- 10:31Speaker 1: nascars they go two hundred miles an hour like fast
- 10:35Speaker 1: my motorcycles that I race goes only a hundred and sixty.
- 10:39Speaker 1: But there is a new type of motorcycle called a
- 10:41Speaker 1: four sixty motorcycle that I am also about to get into.
- 10:45Speaker 1: In the meantime. Wow, I'm practicing to get ready for
- 10:48Speaker 1: my two thousand nineteen late model season. So um, both
- 10:52Speaker 1: both bike and cars can both go over two hundred
- 10:55Speaker 1: miles an hour. It sounds scary, but it's fun for me.
- 10:59Speaker 1: It is scary, folks, stop that, stop it. It is scary.
- 11:03Speaker 1: You know, would you would you do something? You're naturally
- 11:06Speaker 1: gifted and you are naturally gifted? Uh, Desin spur You
- 11:09Speaker 1: know Destinely Spurlock. You though she's an international pro drag racer.
- 11:13Speaker 1: She beat a NASCAR in twin and eighteen. She's training
- 11:16Speaker 1: right now, getting ready because I just won't let everybody
- 11:18Speaker 1: know is that this is not something you jump into.
- 11:21Speaker 1: It is something that you have to have a career.
- 11:23Speaker 1: They don't let you on the track because you because
- 11:25Speaker 1: they like you. Yeah, it's a dangerous field to get into.
- 11:29Speaker 1: She started, She's mastered it, and she realized that that
- 11:32Speaker 1: gets what practice makes you perfect, especially when you're going
- 11:35Speaker 1: two miles. Now, Destiny I want you to be a
- 11:38Speaker 1: regular on my show. Can you do that for me?
- 11:41Speaker 1: I'll thank you. You know, everybody keeps following her Destiny Spurlock.
