Psychologist John Gartner (2025, Bjornson 2025) points out that no one is talking about Donald Trump’s insanity. Instead, they’re talking about his ineffectuality. This reflects the primary mode by which we deflect our own thin grasp on sanity: we call sanity the process of being logical.
