Latest / The Ben Ferguson Podcast / How Long Can Media Attack Biden, plus 'Do Not Disturb POTUS' & Can Cabinet Invoke 25th Amendment Week In Review
Transcript
- 0:01Speaker 1: Welcome.
- 0:01Speaker 2: It is verdict with Ted Cruz, we can review Ben
- 0:04Speaker 2: Ferguson with you and my oh my DoD. We have
- 0:07Speaker 2: some big stories that we talked about this week that
- 0:10Speaker 2: you may have missed. First up, how long can the
- 0:13Speaker 2: media go after Joe Biden before they have to get
- 0:16Speaker 2: back in line. We'll explain the timeline for this. And
- 0:19Speaker 2: right now they're not liking Joe Biden at all. Plus
- 0:23Speaker 2: we've now been told that after eight o'clock at night, well,
- 0:26Speaker 2: there's a team around Joe Biden that can help if
- 0:28Speaker 2: anything happens. Is that actually how the presidency's supposed to work.
- 0:32Speaker 2: Will dive into that, because apparently he's put his life
- 0:35Speaker 2: on do not disturb. And finally, is the cabinet actually
- 0:40Speaker 2: looking at the twenty fifth Amendment to get rid of
- 0:42Speaker 2: Joe Biden.
- 0:44Speaker 1: It's the weekend review and it starts right now.
- 0:48Speaker 2: I mean, look, I do this fair amount with people
- 0:51Speaker 2: that I interview right over the years, and I've had
- 0:54Speaker 2: campaigns or offices say, hey, the Senator or the congressman
- 0:59Speaker 2: or the governor has as this piece of legislation, Uh,
- 1:02Speaker 2: if you'd please ask them a question about that. It's
- 1:05Speaker 2: something it's very important and then it's going to be introduced.
- 1:08Speaker 2: And I'm fine with that. But if you gave me
- 1:10Speaker 2: four questions to ask and said you get them only,
- 1:14Speaker 2: if you asked these four questions and these four questions only,
- 1:17Speaker 2: I would tell them to pound sand no matter who
- 1:19Speaker 2: it was, because that's not doing an interview. That's that
- 1:22Speaker 2: that that's a scripted moment. You might as well just
- 1:25Speaker 2: have the President sit there at the White House and say,
- 1:27Speaker 2: here are the four questions are going to answer today
- 1:29Speaker 2: that I chose.
- 1:30Speaker 3: Yeah, Look, it's I've done hundreds of interviews, if not
- 1:36Speaker 3: maybe thousands of interviews. I've done a crap ton of interviews. Uh,
- 1:40Speaker 3: to the best of my knowledge, I've certainly never submitted questions.
- 1:44Speaker 3: The best of my knowledge, no one on my team has. Now,
- 1:47Speaker 3: what is typical is what you just said. If you're
- 1:49Speaker 3: doing an interview. Let's say I'm going on Hannity, it's
- 1:53Speaker 3: typical that that that my press team will talk with
- 1:56Speaker 3: Hannity's producers and they'll discuss some topics. So if you're
- 1:59Speaker 3: going to talk about the Biden debate, or if you're
- 2:02Speaker 3: going to talk about illegal immigration, or sometimes there's some
- 2:07Speaker 3: story that just broke of like you know, or the
- 2:10Speaker 3: terrorist you know, being the eight terrorists suspected terrorists from
- 2:15Speaker 3: Tajikistan just released. If there's a story that just broke,
- 2:19Speaker 3: the producer will tell my press team, Hey, Sean wants
- 2:22Speaker 3: to ask about this.
- 2:23Speaker 1: That's typical.
- 2:24Speaker 3: So you have some idea what the topic is you're discussing,
- 2:28Speaker 3: so that you can be prepared. But I'll tell you
- 2:32Speaker 3: my guess is of the interviews I do, at least
- 2:34Speaker 3: half of them, they asked me something that is not
- 2:37Speaker 3: a topic that they mentioned at all. So you know,
- 2:39Speaker 3: it's helpful to have. Okay, if we're going to do Israel,
- 2:43Speaker 3: I should probably be up on the latest developments of
- 2:45Speaker 3: what's happened on Israel in the last few days.
- 2:48Speaker 1: But it is an absolute.
- 2:53Speaker 3: Violation of journalistic ethics and norms to simply read the
- 2:58Speaker 3: questions the campaign and and and the absolute arrogance that
- 3:05Speaker 3: the Biden campaign has that they they fully assume that
- 3:09Speaker 3: that that that fake journalist will be more than happy
- 3:12Speaker 3: to comply.
- 3:14Speaker 2: Sara, I got two more questions for you, and it
- 3:15Speaker 2: deals again with the media. One, the media hypocrisy, I
- 3:19Speaker 2: think is an all time high. But how long until
- 3:23Speaker 2: the media gets back in line and it's business as usual.
- 3:26Speaker 2: How many more days can they continue to go after
- 3:29Speaker 2: Joe Biden if he refuses to drop out?
- 3:32Speaker 3: Well, I think the instant Biden is out and they
- 3:34Speaker 3: coordinate the next person, then the media will absolutely fall
- 3:37Speaker 3: in line and it will become a straight on cheerleading.
- 3:40Speaker 3: It will be hallelujah, hallelujah. The problems are all solved.
- 3:43Speaker 3: Now we must all vote for either Kamalo or Michelle
- 3:46Speaker 3: Obama and and save America and and stop stop Orange
- 3:50Speaker 3: man bad. I mean, and the it would be instantaneous.
- 3:54Speaker 3: But you know, let me make a couple of quick
- 3:57Speaker 3: more observations on that point. You know, as you and
- 4:00Speaker 3: I were talking about doing interviews and getting questions ahead
- 4:03Speaker 3: of time, as I said, I've done a gazillion of
- 4:05Speaker 3: them and and and have not had the questions ahead
- 4:08Speaker 3: of time. But you know, I was actually thinking about it.
- 4:12Speaker 3: On this podcast, we've interviewed a bunch of folks. Now
- 4:16Speaker 3: I'm not a journalist, I don't pretend to be a journalist,
- 4:19Speaker 3: but even when we interview people on this podcast, we've
- 4:22Speaker 3: never given people questions ahead of time. And I actually
- 4:26Speaker 3: thought back to it to an interview that that that
- 4:29Speaker 3: that on this podcast. Actually, but before you were my
- 4:32Speaker 3: co host, what it was Michael Doles and me where
- 4:35Speaker 3: we interviewed Bill Barr. And we interviewed Bill Barr at
- 4:38Speaker 3: the Department of Justice. He was the sitting Attorney General.
- 4:41Speaker 3: And it was interesting. His communication staff was really freaked
- 4:45Speaker 3: out and they were like, Okay, well, well how's this
- 4:47Speaker 3: going to be? And listen, I've known Bill for twenty
- 4:51Speaker 3: years and we're friends, and I'm telling him, relax, I'm
- 4:53Speaker 3: not I'm not gonna play games. This, this is not
- 4:56Speaker 3: this is not a gotcha interview. This is not trying
- 4:59Speaker 3: to you know, go stick it to him. And I didn't,
- 5:02Speaker 3: but it ended up being It was one of our
- 5:04Speaker 3: most listened podcasts we've ever done, in part because Bill
- 5:08Speaker 3: was someone who would come across on TV as pretty
- 5:12Speaker 3: stiff and tight and you know, very controlled, and because
- 5:16Speaker 3: he and I are friends, he was relaxed and we
- 5:19Speaker 3: were cutting up and Bill as funny as hell. I mean,
- 5:22Speaker 3: he has this wickedly sarcastic sense of humor, and it
- 5:26Speaker 3: came out. We had a great free ranging interview. Then
- 5:30Speaker 3: look what a podcast is good? It sounds like a
- 5:35Speaker 3: couple of guys sitting at a cafe, having dinner and
- 5:39Speaker 3: just shooting the breeze talking about what's going on. But
- 5:42Speaker 3: even then, with someone I'd known twenty years, I don't
- 5:45Speaker 3: even think I told him the topics we were going
- 5:46Speaker 3: to discuss. We just sat down and now I wasn't
- 5:50Speaker 3: playing gotcha games, but that's what we did. But let
- 5:54Speaker 3: me make a second point about just how astonishingly rapidly
- 6:02Speaker 3: the media can do one hundred and eighty degree reversal.
- 6:05Speaker 3: So on this podcast, we've talked a lot about Hunter
- 6:08Speaker 3: Biden and the whole Hunter Biden investigations and the trials,
- 6:13Speaker 3: and for months and months and months and for years
- 6:16Speaker 3: and years and years, the White House narrative and the
- 6:18Speaker 3: corporate media narrative was Hunter is a poor, troubled son.
- 6:24Speaker 3: He struggles with substance abuse, He's a sad soul, and
- 6:30Speaker 3: just it's all about him. But they've said he has nothing, nothing,
- 6:33Speaker 3: nothing to do with the White House. No, no, no, no, no, no. Hunter,
- 6:36Speaker 3: when he was making millions of dollars from every corrupt
- 6:38Speaker 3: oligarch in, every enemy of America across the planet, whether
- 6:42Speaker 3: the Chinese Communists or the Russians or what have you,
- 6:45Speaker 3: that had nothing to do with favors from Papa Joe. No, no, no, no, no,
- 6:49Speaker 3: Hunter is not at all connected to Joe Biden or
- 6:51Speaker 3: the White House. That's been there their relentless talking point
- 6:55Speaker 3: for years.
- 6:55Speaker 1: Correct.
- 6:56Speaker 3: Yes, all right, I want to read you this paragraph
- 7:00Speaker 3: from Axios on July seventh, behind the Curtain on bendable
- 7:05Speaker 3: Biden versus breaking Point dams quote. We're now in uncharted
- 7:11Speaker 3: historic waters. President Biden, backed by First Lady Jill Biden,
- 7:17Speaker 3: and his convicted son Hunter, who's serving as de facto
- 7:22Speaker 3: gatekeeper to his dad, says that nothing besides an act
- 7:26Speaker 3: of God will persuade him to quit his re election campaign. So,
- 7:31Speaker 3: without missing a beat, the corporate media can now suddenly
- 7:34Speaker 3: admit Hunter is quote de facto gatekeeper to his dad.
- 7:41Speaker 3: This is the same Hunter who about twelve minutes ago
- 7:44Speaker 3: their walking storyline was no, no, no, Hunter's never met
- 7:47Speaker 3: Joe Biden. I'm sorry they have nothing to do. He
- 7:49Speaker 3: doesn't even know where the White House is. No, no, no, no,
- 7:51Speaker 3: pay no attention to the man behind the curtain. This
- 7:54Speaker 3: is not about Joe Biden and his corruption.
- 7:56Speaker 2: Yeah, this is the media. They'll get back in line soon,
- 7:58Speaker 2: don't worry. I against it, Yeah, I give him a
- 8:01Speaker 2: week and a half, two weeks, and then they'll start
- 8:04Speaker 2: dialing back the full court press to get Biden out,
- 8:07Speaker 2: because they're then going to be afraid maybe we can't
- 8:09Speaker 2: get rid of him by when we want to.
- 8:12Speaker 1: So we got to pull back a little bit.
- 8:14Speaker 2: And I think going into these conventions coming up, it's
- 8:17Speaker 2: going to be very interesting to see how they even
- 8:19Speaker 2: deal with him. If Joe Biden's still there at the
- 8:21Speaker 2: convention and he's quote still the guy.
- 8:23Speaker 1: I also think this. I gotta ask him on his question.
- 8:27Speaker 2: Do you think Donald Trump is going to have to,
- 8:29Speaker 2: in essence, just put the VP pick on hold until
- 8:32Speaker 2: they figure out who they're running against?
- 8:34Speaker 3: That is an awfully good question.
- 8:36Speaker 2: I mean, I don't know, Luke away from you and
- 8:39Speaker 2: I go into the convention. Yeah, yeah, we have no
- 8:41Speaker 2: idea who the VP candidate is, and I'm not sure
- 8:43Speaker 2: he does either.
- 8:45Speaker 3: Look, I it is not a crazy question to ask.
- 8:49Speaker 3: The Trump campaign has said repeatedly that they'll announce the
- 8:52Speaker 3: VP by the convention, and you know, usually the VP
- 8:55Speaker 3: gives a big speech at the convention the day before
- 8:59Speaker 3: the the president does. It is a tricky question because
- 9:04Speaker 3: if you don't know who you're running against. That is
- 9:06Speaker 3: certainly a real factor in trying to decide who VP is.
- 9:11Speaker 3: It would I have not looked at the legal questions
- 9:14Speaker 3: at how complicated it would be to dame a VP
- 9:16Speaker 3: after the convention, but it would not be insane for
- 9:21Speaker 3: Trump to delay that choice until he has some real
- 9:25Speaker 3: confidence who his opponent's going to be.
- 9:27Speaker 2: Now, if you want to hear the rest of this conversation,
- 9:30Speaker 2: you can go back and listen to the full podcast
- 9:32Speaker 2: from earlier this week. Now onto story number two, the
- 9:37Speaker 2: President sending the notes. You have the squad that's backed
- 9:41Speaker 2: in the Congressional Black Caucus is saying, hey, we need
- 9:44Speaker 2: to put this all to bed. Joe's our guide. Joe's
- 9:47Speaker 2: made it clear, Hey, I'm not going anywhere. He did
- 9:49Speaker 2: that on Morning Joe. We mentioned that in the last part,
- 9:51Speaker 2: I think. And then you've got this going on with
- 9:56Speaker 2: the media. They're still putting the four court Press here
- 9:59Speaker 2: saying he's a White House lying to you. But we're
- 10:02Speaker 2: going to prove it in essence, and that's why they
- 10:05Speaker 2: do this long interview. Now, you gotta look at the calendar.
- 10:09Speaker 2: Joe Biden is supposed to be on the debate stage
- 10:12Speaker 2: with Donald Trump September tenth on ABC News. ABC News,
- 10:19Speaker 2: by the way, has been attacking the president as well.
- 10:21Speaker 2: Stephanopoulos said after doing the interview with the President that
- 10:25Speaker 2: was supposed to quote save him the other day, that
- 10:27Speaker 2: he said, there's no way he believes the president could
- 10:29Speaker 2: serve for another four years.
- 10:32Speaker 1: Does he show up with this debate? Does he cancel it?
- 10:35Speaker 2: Does he have to show up to have a chance
- 10:38Speaker 2: in hell in November if he's still the nominee.
- 10:41Speaker 3: So I don't believe there will be a debate between
- 10:43Speaker 3: Donald Trump and Joe Biden in September. I don't think
- 10:47Speaker 3: it'll happen now. Look, I don't think Joe Biden will
- 10:49Speaker 3: be the nominee in September. I continue to believe there's
- 10:51Speaker 3: an eighty percent chance that he's not the nominee. He's
- 10:55Speaker 3: digging in, he's holding on with all of his might.
- 10:57Speaker 3: But all right, here's another story that shows the press
- 11:01Speaker 3: turning on him. This is from the Wall Street Journal quote.
- 11:05Speaker 3: German officials, aware of Biden's fatigue at night, sought to
- 11:09Speaker 3: accommodate the president by planning a June twenty twenty two
- 11:12Speaker 3: event with German Chancellor Olaf Schultz in the early evening.
- 11:17Speaker 3: The informal event, a soiree at the alpine resort Schlas
- 11:21Speaker 3: el Maou during the Group of Seven summit, was arranged
- 11:25Speaker 3: as a confidential meeting on Ukraine in a relaxed setting.
- 11:29Speaker 3: Biden didn't show, surprising the Chancellor and his aides. Officials said. Instead,
- 11:35Speaker 3: Secretary of State Antony Blinkett arrived and announced that Biden
- 11:39Speaker 3: had to go to bed. According to two people who
- 11:41Speaker 3: were there, so he is now no longer able to
- 11:44Speaker 3: stay up to meet with heads of state to discuss
- 11:47Speaker 3: matters of war and peace. That's dangerous and the press
- 11:52Speaker 3: is reporting on it.
- 11:55Speaker 2: And to make that point, Peter Doucy asked the question
- 12:00Speaker 2: at the White House from Fox Today. Hey, if the
- 12:03Speaker 2: president's only the president till I don't know eight o'clock
- 12:06Speaker 2: at night, what happens if someone shoots at nuke?
- 12:09Speaker 1: Listen to this well.
- 12:10Speaker 4: He also said he's sharpest before eight pm.
- 12:14Speaker 5: So say that the Pentagon at some point picks up
- 12:17Speaker 5: an incoming nuke, it's eleven pm.
- 12:20Speaker 1: Who do you call the first lady.
- 12:23Speaker 6: He has a team that lets him know of any
- 12:26Speaker 6: news that is pertinent and important to the American people.
- 12:30Speaker 6: He has someone or that is decided obviously with his
- 12:34Speaker 6: National Security Council, and who gets to tell him that
- 12:36Speaker 6: news center?
- 12:39Speaker 2: I got to go back to just the White House
- 12:41Speaker 2: here for her response is he has a team, so
- 12:45Speaker 2: calm down. The president sleeping. I don't think that sits
- 12:49Speaker 2: well with the American people anymore.
- 12:52Speaker 3: No, it doesn't. That's actually a terrifying response that if
- 12:55Speaker 3: something happens at eleven PM, well, Joe Biden's not capable
- 12:58Speaker 3: to deal with it. But he has a team, and
- 13:00Speaker 3: there's some underlaying appointed to the National Security Council, and
- 13:03Speaker 3: the underlink can deal with it. And you know, in
- 13:05Speaker 3: response to that, I want to play a political ad.
- 13:08Speaker 3: Just listen to this ad and then we're going to
- 13:10Speaker 3: talk about what it was.
- 13:13Speaker 7: It's three am and your children are safe into sleep,
- 13:16Speaker 7: but there's a phone in the White House, and it's
- 13:18Speaker 7: really something's happening in the world. Your vote will decide
- 13:23Speaker 7: who answers that call. Whether it's someone who already knows
- 13:26Speaker 7: the world's leaders, knows the military, someone tested and ready
- 13:29Speaker 7: to lead in a dangerous world. It's three am and
- 13:33Speaker 7: your children are safe into sleep. Who do you want
- 13:36Speaker 7: answering the phone?
- 13:40Speaker 6: I'm Hillary Clinton and I approved this message.
- 13:42Speaker 2: No, I mean they made this the issue, mister senator,
- 13:46Speaker 2: right like, they're like, you want to be mister president,
- 13:49Speaker 2: then you better answer that call at three am.
- 13:51Speaker 3: Well, and let me say to folks listening to this podcast,
- 13:54Speaker 3: to who are relatively young, you may not have heard
- 13:58Speaker 3: that ad before. You might have been thinking, as you're
- 14:00Speaker 3: listening to this ad, wow, this is a new Trump ad.
- 14:03Speaker 3: This is a really powerful Trump ad. But then at
- 14:06Speaker 3: the very end you get I'm Hillary Clinton and I
- 14:08Speaker 3: approved this message. So Hillary Clinton ran that ad in
- 14:12Speaker 3: the year two thousand and eight, and she was running
- 14:15Speaker 3: it against Barack Obama. She was saying Barack Obama was
- 14:18Speaker 3: young and inexperienced, and she was much better able to
- 14:21Speaker 3: answer the phone than he was. Now, regardless of who
- 14:25Speaker 3: was right in that argument, Today's Biden Whitehouse, it's not
- 14:30Speaker 3: a three am phone call. They're saying at eleven pm, sorry,
- 14:33Speaker 3: there is no commander in chief, but you know the
- 14:36Speaker 3: deputy Special assistant is here and ready to solve the problem.
- 14:40Speaker 2: Well, it also says the world leaders and it is
- 14:42Speaker 2: terrifying to think about this. Hey, here are the best
- 14:45Speaker 2: hours to do something, whether it's attack this country, whether
- 14:49Speaker 2: you're a terrorist, or whether it's to do something around
- 14:52Speaker 2: the world, because this will be a long period of
- 14:55Speaker 2: time before you get a awake president that would even
- 14:59Speaker 2: respect bond or say anything.
- 15:03Speaker 7: You know it is.
- 15:05Speaker 3: It's why I do not believe Biden is going to
- 15:08Speaker 3: be the nominee, because the facts are piling up and
- 15:11Speaker 3: it's becoming indefensible. It may be Michelle Obama, it may
- 15:17Speaker 3: be Kamala Harris, but I think the d's that they
- 15:20Speaker 3: are going to pull the plug. They are terrified, they
- 15:24Speaker 3: are panicking, and every day as the press continues to turn. Look,
- 15:30Speaker 3: you mentioned George Stephanopolis. George Stephanopolis was asked if he
- 15:37Speaker 3: could serve any four more years and he says no,
- 15:41Speaker 3: he doesn't think he can. And then Stephanopolis backed away
- 15:43Speaker 3: and said, quote earlier today, I responded to a question
- 15:46Speaker 3: from a passer by, I shouldn't have So he's backing
- 15:49Speaker 3: away from telling the truth exactly. Well, you know that
- 15:53Speaker 3: they try not to do that, the press. Yeah, it's again.
- 15:58Speaker 3: I go back to what I said on this show.
- 16:01Speaker 3: I don't know a week ago.
- 16:02Speaker 2: I think they've got another what eight ten days here
- 16:06Speaker 2: to go all in to try to get him out.
- 16:08Speaker 2: And after that they may be stuck with this guy.
- 16:10Speaker 2: But now, look your prediction, you've been right for quite
- 16:14Speaker 2: a few times. It still could be somebody at the convention,
- 16:18Speaker 2: and that somebody could still be Michelle Obama. Do you
- 16:20Speaker 2: still think there's a decent chance of that.
- 16:23Speaker 3: I stayed by the same odds I had on Monday's podcast.
- 16:27Speaker 3: I think there is a twenty percent chance the Democrat
- 16:30Speaker 3: nominee is Joe Biden. I think there's a forty percent
- 16:33Speaker 3: chance the Democrat nominee is Michelle Obama. And I think
- 16:36Speaker 3: there's a forty percent chance the Democratic nominee is Kamala Harris.
- 16:41Speaker 2: As before, if you want to hear the rest of
- 16:43Speaker 2: this conversation on this topic, you can go back and
- 16:46Speaker 2: dow the podcast from earlier this week to hear the
- 16:48Speaker 2: entire thing. I want to get back to the big story.
- 16:52Speaker 2: Number three of the week you may have missed here
- 16:55Speaker 2: is the Bombschelsea and report that Cabinet secretaries only some
- 16:59Speaker 2: many questions. But my question now is is this being
- 17:02Speaker 2: done on purpose so that they may actually start talking
- 17:05Speaker 2: about the twenty fifth Amendment.
- 17:07Speaker 1: Listen to how CNN blew this up today.
- 17:09Speaker 5: At the White House perspective now with Cennce Mjlee.
- 17:12Speaker 1: Who's there for is MJ.
- 17:14Speaker 5: You and your colleagues have some reporting on the mood
- 17:17Speaker 5: behind the scenes.
- 17:18Speaker 1: What are you hearing from your sources?
- 17:20Speaker 8: Well, boris, there's certainly been a lot of confusion and
- 17:24Speaker 8: anger and sadness inside the White House, across the administration,
- 17:28Speaker 8: the campaign, and across the Democratic Party more broadly, since
- 17:32Speaker 8: the President's really halting and shocking debate performance. My colleagues
- 17:36Speaker 8: and I have spoken over the course of the last
- 17:39Speaker 8: two weeks to dozens of Democratic sources, including I should
- 17:43Speaker 8: note senior Democrats who have spent real time with the
- 17:46Speaker 8: President and in some cases have known the president for years.
- 17:50Speaker 8: And what has been striking is that none of them
- 17:53Speaker 8: had ever seen this version of President Biden that we
- 17:56Speaker 8: all saw on the debate stage that was so off
- 18:00Speaker 8: altering and days and plenty of officials that we spoke
- 18:04Speaker 8: with said, look, of course, we've known that the President
- 18:07Speaker 8: has aged. He is certainly not the same person that
- 18:10Speaker 8: we know from say, a year ago. But what they
- 18:14Speaker 8: had said, and that was so noteworthy, is that they
- 18:18Speaker 8: said they couldn't have possibly known about the full extent
- 18:22Speaker 8: of the president's decline, and what many of them blame
- 18:25Speaker 8: at this point is this apparatus and daily operation that
- 18:29Speaker 8: is built around the president that is so painfully choreographed
- 18:33Speaker 8: and stage managed. They said, that is designed to prevent
- 18:36Speaker 8: the president from being often out in these unscripted settings
- 18:42Speaker 8: for an extended period of time, and that really what
- 18:45Speaker 8: that meant was that only a small circle of inner
- 18:49Speaker 8: circle of advisors and perhaps family members could have known
- 18:53Speaker 8: about sort of this full picture of the president's condition.
- 18:57Speaker 8: Just one example that is in our story is that,
- 19:00Speaker 8: according to two sources, before cabinet meetings that the president attends,
- 19:06Speaker 8: cabinet officials will submit their questions and talking points, key
- 19:10Speaker 8: talking points and bullet points that they plan to present
- 19:13Speaker 8: to the president in these closed door meetings. This is
- 19:16Speaker 8: how one source described it. They said, the entire display
- 19:19Speaker 8: is kind of an act. They would come and say, hey,
- 19:22Speaker 8: the President is going to call on you about twenty
- 19:24Speaker 8: five minutes in and ask this question, what are the
- 19:27Speaker 8: bulletpoints that you'll respond with. Now, the White House's defense
- 19:30Speaker 8: has been that that is standard practice for any administration.
- 19:34Speaker 8: They said, in a setting like this, you never want
- 19:36Speaker 8: the president to be not aware of what is going
- 19:41Speaker 8: to be discussed.
- 19:42Speaker 1: You look at this Senator.
- 19:45Speaker 2: I sit there and I'm like, Okay, You've got people
- 19:48Speaker 2: that serve at the pleasure of the president who are
- 19:51Speaker 2: now looking out for their own best interests.
- 19:54Speaker 1: They don't want to lose their power.
- 19:56Speaker 2: You got people on his campaign that apparently have the
- 19:59Speaker 2: same mentality as these cabinet members, And all the leagues
- 20:03Speaker 2: about Joe Biden are coming from within. Now you can't
- 20:07Speaker 2: control them. White House leaks destroy presidencies. And now it's like,
- 20:14Speaker 2: if you're leaking this and you're a senior cabinet member,
- 20:17Speaker 2: are you doing it to prep the country for possibly
- 20:20Speaker 2: the twenty fifth?
- 20:22Speaker 3: Look, I think that prospect is rising. I gotta say, also,
- 20:25Speaker 3: the White House defense, well, this is standard operating procedure.
- 20:29Speaker 1: Listen.
- 20:29Speaker 3: I have been in literally hundreds of meetings with presidents,
- 20:35Speaker 3: whether Donald Trump or Barack Obama, and I've never been
- 20:40Speaker 3: in one meeting where we had talking points and it
- 20:43Speaker 3: was choreographed. That doesn't happen. I talked to Donald Trump
- 20:47Speaker 3: a couple of days on the go in the phone call.
- 20:49Speaker 3: He didn't know what I was going to say. I
- 20:50Speaker 3: didn't know what he was gonna say, because you're talking
- 20:52Speaker 3: to an actual human being. Every day when senators meet,
- 20:56Speaker 3: we don't read scripts. Would you'd like to do this job?
- 21:00Speaker 3: You actually have to be able to talk about colleagues
- 21:02Speaker 3: and say, okay, what's going on, and ask questions and
- 21:04Speaker 3: discuss things. Now, look, you'll read a speech that's commonplace,
- 21:07Speaker 3: but at a meeting, a cabinet meeting where they're supposed
- 21:10Speaker 3: to be your top advisors. I meet with my senior
- 21:12Speaker 3: staff every week. My senior staff don't come in. I
- 21:17Speaker 3: don't ask them give me the talking points of what
- 21:19Speaker 3: you're going to say before you say it, because professionals
- 21:23Speaker 3: are able to have a conversation, listen, and process information, and,
- 21:27Speaker 3: by the way, then ask follow up questions, what about this? Well,
- 21:31Speaker 3: should we do this? What do you think about this? Okay,
- 21:33Speaker 3: let's go down this direction. That's actually the way presidents operate.
- 21:37Speaker 3: I've been in bunches of free flowing presidential meetings with
- 21:41Speaker 3: Trump or we'd be all over the place that you
- 21:43Speaker 3: got people argue on one side and argue in the other,
- 21:45Speaker 3: and Trump'll say, what about this? And I mean we
- 21:47Speaker 3: would you know? I've been up in the White House
- 21:50Speaker 3: residence with him and a couple other senators with people
- 21:52Speaker 3: screaming at each other till ten ten thirty at night.
- 21:55Speaker 3: That is dramatically different from the Kabooki theater or that
- 22:00Speaker 3: Joe Biden was putting on now. To be clear, his
- 22:03Speaker 3: entire cabinet was complicit, His entire White House staff was complicit.
- 22:07Speaker 3: The Democrats in Congress were complicit. They all knew this.
- 22:10Speaker 3: They're all saying, gosh, we're shocked, just absolutely shocked. I've
- 22:13Speaker 3: told you Biden won't meet with Republican senators. That's been
- 22:16Speaker 3: true for three and a half years.
- 22:17Speaker 2: I haven't had any meeting on the president I remembers now, right, Yeah,
- 22:20Speaker 2: it's not just you guys, it's now the cabinet.
- 22:22Speaker 1: He won't even meet with yet.
- 22:23Speaker 3: Look, when Republican senators meet to have lunch, we talk
- 22:26Speaker 3: about how weird it is that we haven't talked to
- 22:29Speaker 3: Joe Biden. We all know Joe, he was a man
- 22:31Speaker 3: of the Senate for forty years, but they won't let
- 22:35Speaker 3: him meet with us. Because this has been obvious for
- 22:39Speaker 3: three and a half years. And the media, the Democrats,
- 22:42Speaker 3: they were all complicit until the debate thrust it unavoidably
- 22:47Speaker 3: in front of the public. And now they're all running scared.
- 22:50Speaker 2: Does this change the calculus in your mind for Democrats
- 22:54Speaker 2: moving forward? I mean I thought by the end of
- 22:57Speaker 2: this week they would get back in line behind him.
- 23:01Speaker 2: We don't seem to have that happening at all. And
- 23:05Speaker 2: it now seems that from within are the people that
- 23:10Speaker 2: are hurting him the most.
- 23:11Speaker 1: I'll give you an example.
- 23:13Speaker 2: Jake Tamper went on his show on CNN today and
- 23:16Speaker 2: this is what he said.
- 23:17Speaker 5: Let's bring in our panel. And on that note, I
- 23:20Speaker 5: want to share something with you all that a longtime
- 23:23Speaker 5: Biden advisor just texted me. Okay, he or she said, quote,
- 23:29Speaker 5: I just think there's an unfortunate inevitability to all this.
- 23:33Speaker 5: I'm sad because I've known him a long time and
- 23:35Speaker 5: he's a good man.
- 23:37Speaker 1: I'm angry at his.
- 23:38Speaker 5: Inner circle who have not served him well and at
- 23:40Speaker 5: times committed malpractice in their service. And I am frustrated
- 23:44Speaker 5: at the family, the Biden family, for not expanding the
- 23:46Speaker 5: circle so there would be at least a truthteller or
- 23:49Speaker 5: two in their midst. They created a perfect storm of
- 23:53Speaker 5: an echo chamber and it is biting them all in
- 23:57Speaker 5: the ass again as we them. Jay apologies for the
- 24:01Speaker 5: salty language, but this is the extent of the frustration, Gloria,
- 24:05Speaker 5: your reaction.
- 24:06Speaker 2: I get this is Jake Tapper. He's not burning somebody.
- 24:10Speaker 2: This advisor, this long time advisor, I think made it
- 24:14Speaker 2: very clear.
- 24:15Speaker 3: That for well, listen, listen like Ron on TV, Yeah, listen,
- 24:21Speaker 3: ron Klain sent that text expecting that Jake Tapper would would.
- 24:26Speaker 1: Read it on air.
- 24:27Speaker 3: And by the way, I don't know it was Ron Klain.
- 24:29Speaker 1: I'm just just picking up Yeah.
- 24:30Speaker 2: I mean, whoever did not say go on air and
- 24:33Speaker 2: read this. I'm letting you do it.
- 24:35Speaker 3: Look, you don't send it to Jake Tapper without expecting
- 24:38Speaker 3: that he's going to be repeated. That's why you're sending it.
- 24:40Speaker 3: And look, the press is turning on him. Remember like
- 24:45Speaker 3: twelve minutes ago, where the corporate media would say it's
- 24:49Speaker 3: a tinfoil hat conspiracy theory. When you say that that
- 24:52Speaker 3: Obama's running things. We've said a number of times in
- 24:54Speaker 3: this podcast that it's Obama's pulling the strings. I want
- 24:58Speaker 3: you to listen to to Morning Joe talking about who's
- 25:04Speaker 3: really behind everything? Right now, give a listen.
- 25:06Speaker 2: Before I play that, I want to tell you about
- 25:08Speaker 2: our friends of the International Fellowship of Christians and Jews.
- 25:11Speaker 2: Since the start of the Sword of Iron war in
- 25:13Speaker 2: Israel in October the seventh, we have seen death and
- 25:16Speaker 2: destruction in the Holy Land, and for more than forty years,
- 25:19Speaker 2: the International Fellowship of Christians and Jews has been on
- 25:22Speaker 2: the ground in Israel, and within hours of the war starting,
- 25:25Speaker 2: and everyday since, they've been feeding the hungry and protecting
- 25:28Speaker 2: the vulnerable. The attacks continue in the north and the
- 25:31Speaker 2: South in Israel, but there are resilient survivors who bravely
- 25:35Speaker 2: share their stories in a series the Fellowship calls Faces
- 25:39Speaker 2: of Iron. I want you to hear their stories because
- 25:43Speaker 2: so many in the media have not been covering them. Survivors,
- 25:47Speaker 2: for example, like Danny, whose beloved daughter and her husband
- 25:50Speaker 2: were burned alive on October the seventh by hamasteris need
- 25:53Speaker 2: to be heard by the world. Danny is a commander
- 25:57Speaker 2: of the volunteer fire and rescue in his community, fire
- 26:00Speaker 2: equipment nearby. Danny could do nothing as his daughter's house
- 26:03Speaker 2: burned and his daughter and her husband lost their lives.
- 26:07Speaker 2: Christians like you support Israel through the International Fellowship of
- 26:10Speaker 2: Christians and Jews. Is this support that helps these survivors
- 26:14Speaker 2: remain steadfast and strong. I want you to hear more
- 26:17Speaker 2: of their stories like the one I just mentioned, and
- 26:19Speaker 2: I want you to share your support for Israel and
- 26:22Speaker 2: stand with the people of Israel. All you have to
- 26:24Speaker 2: do to hear these stories and spread them on social
- 26:27Speaker 2: media is go to support IFCJ dot org. That's support
- 26:32Speaker 2: IFCJ dot org. Here's that clip center that you mentioned
- 26:37Speaker 2: a moment ago morning, Joe Hey.
- 26:39Speaker 4: One thing that we do have to underline here, just
- 26:41Speaker 4: so viewers can follow what's going on behind the scenes,
- 26:46Speaker 4: is the Biden campaign and many Democratic officials do believe
- 26:53Speaker 4: that Barack Obama is quietly working behind the scenes to
- 27:00Speaker 4: work is straight this.
- 27:02Speaker 3: I mean, if you and I had said that a
- 27:05Speaker 3: month ago, they would go crazy, they would mock us.
- 27:09Speaker 4: Not now.
- 27:10Speaker 3: I want to play also what Mika Berzinski said about
- 27:13Speaker 3: the George Clooney op ed, because that's just give a
- 27:15Speaker 3: listen to what Mika says.
- 27:17Speaker 9: Yes, this wasn't George Clooney, but but well, what do
- 27:21Speaker 9: you mean it just wasn't.
- 27:22Speaker 1: Come on, who do you think it was? It was
- 27:26Speaker 1: not Matt Damon, it wasn't Julia Roberts.
- 27:28Speaker 4: Do you think it was?
- 27:30Speaker 1: You can say the name. It's not Baltimore.
- 27:34Speaker 4: Are you saying you think Barack Obama put him up
- 27:37Speaker 4: to this?
- 27:37Speaker 9: I think that Barack Obama has a lot of influence,
- 27:41Speaker 9: and I think that there's uh, there's a lot there.
- 27:46Speaker 4: There's a lot there, There's a lot, there's a lot there.
- 27:49Speaker 1: Really, there are two.
- 27:51Speaker 9: People in this picture, and one has had a presidency
- 27:54Speaker 9: that was absolutely, undeniably historic.
- 28:00Speaker 4: Well, I think you have two people that had extraordinarily historic.
- 28:06Speaker 9: In terms of legislative accomplishments.
- 28:09Speaker 4: Well, you say, and they're both historic, and they're both historic,
- 28:13Speaker 4: and Barack Obama for sure Hordable Care Act. George, I mean,
- 28:17Speaker 4: not George Clooney. You know he probably said it too, Willie,
- 28:20Speaker 4: But Joe Biden actually whispered.
- 28:22Speaker 1: That that was a big deal, effing dial.
- 28:28Speaker 2: This is the conversation they're having on MSNBC as George
- 28:33Speaker 2: Cuney comes out.
- 28:34Speaker 1: I love Joe Biden, but we need a new nominee. Yeah.
- 28:38Speaker 3: And to be clear, Politico also reported quote before Hollywood
- 28:42Speaker 3: icon and Democratic donor George Clooney published his buzzy and
- 28:45Speaker 3: brutal New York Times op ed yesterday calling on Biden
- 28:48Speaker 3: to step aside as the nominee. We're told he reached
- 28:51Speaker 3: out to former President Barack Obama to give him the
- 28:53Speaker 3: heads up. The two men, who are friendly both attended
- 28:56Speaker 3: the LA fundraiser. Clooney reference to his piece where the
- 28:59Speaker 3: actor said he'd beheld a diminished Biden and that the
- 29:02Speaker 3: leader he interacted with was quote the same man we
- 29:06Speaker 3: all witnessed at the debate. While Obama did not encourage
- 29:09Speaker 3: or advise Clooney to said what he said, he also
- 29:13Speaker 3: didn't object to it. We're told from people familiar with
- 29:17Speaker 3: their exchange. The lack of pushback is an eye popping revelation,
- 29:21Speaker 3: given that the former president was one of the first
- 29:24Speaker 3: big voices defending Biden following his abysmal debate performance, while
- 29:28Speaker 3: many of his former aides have been some of the
- 29:30Speaker 3: incumbent's biggest critics. Again, if you and I said that
- 29:34Speaker 3: twelve minutes ago, they would have fitted us for the
- 29:37Speaker 3: tinfoil hats and said we were loons, And now every
- 29:40Speaker 3: one of them is saying this is Barack Obama pulling strings.
- 29:44Speaker 2: As always, thank you for listening to Verdict with Center,
- 29:48Speaker 2: Ted Cruz, Ben Ferguson with you don't forget to deal
- 29:50Speaker 2: with my podcast, and you can listen to my podcast
- 29:52Speaker 2: every other day you're not listening to Verdict, or each
- 29:54Speaker 2: day when you listen to Verdict afterwards, I'd love to
- 29:57Speaker 2: have you as a listener to again, Ben Ferguson, and
- 30:00Speaker 2: we will see you back here on Monday morning.
