Transcript
- 0:00Speaker 1: Direct from Hollywood with Ryan Seacrest.
- 0:03Speaker 2: Let's talk about extras. The actors on movies and TV
- 0:05Speaker 2: shows in the background, right, They don't speak, They roam
- 0:08Speaker 2: around a little bit.
- 0:10Speaker 3: Yeah, and oftentimes I feel like they don't get the
- 0:12Speaker 3: respect that they deserve.
- 0:13Speaker 1: But they're so important. Movies wouldn't feel right without them.
- 0:16Speaker 2: And no director might agree with you more than Marty
- 0:18Speaker 2: Supreme director Josh Softy. Obviously, casting Timothy Shalamgwineth Paltrow were huge,
- 0:23Speaker 2: but Josh tells The Hollywood Reporter he also selected and
- 0:26Speaker 2: vetted pretty much every extra in the movie, even interviewing
- 0:29Speaker 2: them personally.
- 0:30Speaker 4: Partially, it's because it's a period movie taking place in
- 0:33Speaker 4: the fifties, as we know, and he didn't want to
- 0:35Speaker 4: use any wigs or even use any extra with modern
- 0:38Speaker 4: dental work.
- 0:39Speaker 1: And those details really make a difference because they help
- 0:41Speaker 1: suck you into the story.
- 0:43Speaker 2: I sometimes will roll things back and just watch the extras.
- 0:47Speaker 2: I just watched their action in the movement, and like,
- 0:49Speaker 2: what are they saying? Or can I tell what they're saying?
- 0:51Speaker 2: Are they saying carrots and peas, carrots and peas, carrots
- 0:53Speaker 2: and peas, Marty Supreme, I gotta see that it's in
- 0:56Speaker 2: theaters that's
- 0:57Speaker 1: Direct from Hollywood.
