- 0:01Speaker 1: Did you see these people on my right the way
- 0:03Speaker 1: that you said some of them? How about Omar screaming, screaming,
- 0:09Speaker 1: screaming like a lunatic.
- 0:11Speaker 2: You looked at her, bulging eyes. She's crazy. Get it
- 0:14Speaker 2: the hell out of here, the Omar and her friends
- 0:18Speaker 2: and her little friends.
- 0:20Speaker 3: You're listening to the forty seven Morning Update with Ben ferguson.
- 0:24Speaker 4: Good Saturday morning. Nice to have you with us on
- 0:26Speaker 4: the forty seven Morning Update. And we've got one big
- 0:28Speaker 4: story for you. President Trump Say the Union, Well, we
- 0:31Speaker 4: now know if it connected with voters. And the big
- 0:34Speaker 4: question is did the president get a real bump in
- 0:36Speaker 4: the polls, the data. We've got it all for you.
- 0:39Speaker 4: It's the forty seven Morning Update and it starts right now.
- 0:42Speaker 3: Story number one.
- 0:43Speaker 4: We've got new data out about the performance of Donald
- 0:47Speaker 4: Trump as president United States of America and the State
- 0:50Speaker 4: of the Union address. And the numbers, well, they're exactly
- 0:54Speaker 4: what I expected. Donald Trump's post Stay the Union approval
- 0:59Speaker 4: rating has now jumped to fifty one percent. That isn't
- 1:04Speaker 4: a poll taken entirely after the President's triumphant say of
- 1:08Speaker 4: the Union on Tuesday night. The new survey that came
- 1:12Speaker 4: out was more than one thousand likely voters between February
- 1:17Speaker 4: the twenty fourth and the twenty six and had found
- 1:19Speaker 4: that forty seven point one percent of those polled strongly
- 1:23Speaker 4: approved of the job of the president was doing well.
- 1:26Speaker 4: Three point seven percent said they approved. Trump's disapproval ratings
- 1:31Speaker 4: sits at forty eight percent, not surprising because we're a
- 1:34Speaker 4: very divided country. The number, by the way, is made
- 1:37Speaker 4: up of thirty nine point one percent who strongly disapprove
- 1:41Speaker 4: of President Trump and what he's doing. That's your radical left,
- 1:44Speaker 4: the socialist, Marxist and communists. Well, eight point five percent
- 1:48Speaker 4: merely disapproved. Now, this poll is one that is significant
- 1:54Speaker 4: because it shows that the present obviously did what he
- 1:56Speaker 4: needed to do at that speech, talking to Americans and
- 2:01Speaker 4: making sure that he feels like Americans have pride in
- 2:04Speaker 4: their country. Part of what the President talked about.
- 2:08Speaker 1: Two hundred and fifty years is a long time in
- 2:11Speaker 1: the life of a nation, But in other sense, it's
- 2:14Speaker 1: really a mere moment in the eye of history. Two
- 2:18Speaker 1: of the gentlemen we met in the gallery this evening
- 2:21Speaker 1: took their first breaths one century ago. One hundred years
- 2:25Speaker 1: before that, on July fourth, eighteen twenty six, the author
- 2:30Speaker 1: of the Declaration of Independence, brilliant Thomas Jefferson, to his
- 2:36Speaker 1: last breath. Just a single long human lifespan separates the
- 2:41Speaker 1: giants who declared and won our independence from the heroes
- 2:46Speaker 1: who stand among us tonight. Everything our nation has done,
- 2:50Speaker 1: everything we have achieved, has been the work of those
- 2:53Speaker 1: few great lifetimes. In those brief chapters, Americans built this
- 2:58Speaker 1: nation from thirteen colonies into the pinnacle of human civilization
- 3:04Speaker 1: and human freedom, the strongest, wealthiest, most powerful, most successful
- 3:08Speaker 1: nation in all of history. Americans ventured out across the
- 3:14Speaker 1: daunting and dangerous continent. We carved, passed through an unforgiving wilderness,
- 3:21Speaker 1: settled a boundless frontier, and tamed the beautiful but very
- 3:25Speaker 1: very dangerous wild West. From empty marshes and wide open plains,
- 3:32Speaker 1: we raised up the world's greatest cities. Together, we mastered
- 3:37Speaker 1: the world's mightiest industries and shattered histories monstrous tyrannies, and
- 3:43Speaker 1: we liberated millions from the chains of fascism, communism, oppression,
- 3:48Speaker 1: and terror. Americans lifted humanity into the skies on the
- 3:52Speaker 1: wings of aluminum and steel, and then we launched mankind
- 3:56Speaker 1: into the stars on rockets powered by sheer American will
- 4:01Speaker 1: and unyielding American pride. We wired that lobe with our ingenuity,
- 4:08Speaker 1: We captivated the planet with American culture, and now we
- 4:12Speaker 1: are pioneering the next great American breakthroughs that will change
- 4:17Speaker 1: the entire world.
- 4:19Speaker 2: All of this and.
- 4:20Speaker 1: So much more is the enduring legacy, unmatched glory of
- 4:25Speaker 1: the hard working patriots who built and defended this country,
- 4:30Speaker 1: and who still carry the hopes and freedoms on all
- 4:34Speaker 1: of humanity's backs. For years, they were forgotten, betrayed, and
- 4:39Speaker 1: cast aside. But that great betrayal is over and they
- 4:42Speaker 1: will never be forgotten again. Because when the world needs courage, daring,
- 4:47Speaker 1: vision and inspiration, it is still turning to America. And
- 4:53Speaker 1: when God needs a nation to work his miracles, he
- 4:57Speaker 1: knows exactly who to ask. There is no challenge Americans
- 5:02Speaker 1: cannot overcome, no frontier too vast for us to conquer,
- 5:07Speaker 1: no dream too bold for us to chase, no horizon
- 5:12Speaker 1: too distant for us to claim. For our destiny is
- 5:16Speaker 1: written by the hand of Providence, and these first two
- 5:20Speaker 1: hundred and fifty years were just the beginning. From the
- 5:24Speaker 1: rugged border towns of Texas to the heartland villages of Michigan,
- 5:29Speaker 1: from the sun kissed shores of Florida to the endless
- 5:32Speaker 1: fields of the Dakotas, and from the historic streets of
- 5:37Speaker 1: Philadelphia to right here in our nation's capital, Washington, d C.
- 5:42Speaker 1: The Golden Age of America is upon us. The revolution
- 5:46Speaker 1: that began in seventeen seventy six has not ended. It
- 5:51Speaker 1: still continues because the flame of liberty and independence still
- 5:56Speaker 1: burns in the heart of every American patriot. And our
- 6:00Speaker 1: future will be bigger, better, brighter, bolder, and more glorious
- 6:04Speaker 1: than ever before. Thank you, God bless you, and God
- 6:09Speaker 1: bless America.
- 6:15Speaker 4: It was that type of messaging during the City Union
- 6:18Speaker 4: that made so many Americans remember exactly why they voted
- 6:21Speaker 4: for Donald Trump in the first place. The President talking
- 6:24Speaker 4: about so many of his successes and what is happening
- 6:27Speaker 4: right now with no tax on tips, no tax on overtime,
- 6:31Speaker 4: getting rid of regulations that will over the costs of cars,
- 6:34Speaker 4: for example, all major things the President is talking about.
- 6:38Speaker 4: He also spent time talking about how important it is
- 6:41Speaker 4: that Americans aren't having to compete with massive corporations for housing,
- 6:46Speaker 4: standing up for so many Americans, and the way that
- 6:50Speaker 4: President Trump talked about. It was clear he was putting
- 6:53Speaker 4: Americans first, ahead of corporations who were buying up so
- 6:57Speaker 4: many houses and making it unaffordable for many Americans to
- 7:01Speaker 4: get in the home buying process for the very first time.
- 7:05Speaker 4: Just take a listen to President Trump talking about this
- 7:07Speaker 4: issue at the Say of the Union.
- 7:09Speaker 1: Make that band permanent because home is for people. Really,
- 7:14Speaker 1: that's what we want, homes for people, not for corporations.
- 7:17Speaker 2: Corporations to doing just fine.
- 7:19Speaker 1: Racel, Thank you very much, Good luck with you home
- 7:22Speaker 1: You'll get one, sir.
- 7:32Speaker 4: Now, this wasn't just a line that the President wanted
- 7:34Speaker 4: to deliver in the Say of the Union to check
- 7:36Speaker 4: a box. This is something the President is actually working
- 7:39Speaker 4: very hard on. The President saying this at the World
- 7:43Speaker 4: Economic Forum back at the end of January.
- 7:46Speaker 2: Home ownership has always been a symbol of health and
- 7:50Speaker 2: vigor of American society. But that goal fell out of
- 7:54Speaker 2: reach for millions and millions of people in the Biden
- 7:57Speaker 2: ear because interest rates went up so high. Today, I'm
- 8:01Speaker 2: taking action to bring back this bedrock of the American dream.
- 8:05Speaker 2: In recent years, Wall Street giants and institutional investment firms,
- 8:09Speaker 2: many of you are here. Many of you are good
- 8:11Speaker 2: friends of mine. Many of you are supporter. Sorry to
- 8:13Speaker 2: do this, I'm so sorry, but you've driven up housing
- 8:17Speaker 2: prices by purchasing hundreds of thousands of single family homes
- 8:20Speaker 2: and it's been a great investment for them, often as
- 8:24Speaker 2: much as ten percent of houses on the market. You know.
- 8:27Speaker 2: The crazy thing is a person can't get depreciation on
- 8:30Speaker 2: the house, but when a corporation buys it, they get depreciation. Okay,
- 8:34Speaker 2: that's something we're going to have to think about too.
- 8:36Speaker 2: I don't know if too many people think about that.
- 8:38Speaker 2: You buy a corporation, they buy five hundred houses, they
- 8:42Speaker 2: buy hundreds of thousands, they buy five hundred houses, they
- 8:45Speaker 2: can take depreciation. A person sweats and works and buys
- 8:50Speaker 2: one house, they can't. But homes are built for people,
- 8:54Speaker 2: not for corporations. And America will not become a nation
- 8:57Speaker 2: of renters. We're not going to do that. That's why
- 9:00Speaker 2: I have signed and executive order banning large institutional addresses
- 9:04Speaker 2: from buying single family homes. It's just not fair to
- 9:07Speaker 2: the public. They're they're not able to buy a house.
- 9:12Speaker 2: And I'm calling on Congress to pass that band into
- 9:15Speaker 2: permanent loan and I think they.
- 9:16Speaker 4: Will it's clear the President Trump has made this a
- 9:21Speaker 4: priority for the midterm elections. It's exactly why he's campaigning
- 9:24Speaker 4: on this issue, and it's exactly why, by the way,
- 9:27Speaker 4: his approval rating went up in a significant way after
- 9:30Speaker 4: the State of the Union, because not only is President
- 9:33Speaker 4: Trump saying we want to put Americans first, he's also
- 9:37Speaker 4: saying it's time to stop having Congress make it harder
- 9:40Speaker 4: on you to buy a home. Donald Trump putting out
- 9:43Speaker 4: a true social tweet saying quote, for a very long time,
- 9:46Speaker 4: buying and owning a home was considered a pinnacle of
- 9:48Speaker 4: the American dream. It was the reward for working hard
- 9:53Speaker 4: and doing the right thing. But now, because of the
- 9:56Speaker 4: record high inflation caused by Joe Biden and the demicocrats
- 10:00Speaker 4: in Congress, the American dream is increasingly out of reach
- 10:04Speaker 4: for far too many people, especially younger Americans. It is
- 10:09Speaker 4: for that reason and much more, that I am immediately
- 10:12Speaker 4: taking steps to ban large institutional investors from buying more
- 10:17Speaker 4: single family homes, and I will be calling on Congress
- 10:21Speaker 4: to codify it people live in homes, not corporations. I
- 10:25Speaker 4: will discuss this topic, including further housing and affordability proposals,
- 10:30Speaker 4: and more at my speech in Davos in two weeks,
- 10:34Speaker 4: and then he did it again in the State of
- 10:36Speaker 4: the Union. Trump also going after the US housing market
- 10:40Speaker 4: and talking exactly about why these corporations need to be watched.
- 10:45Speaker 4: A great example of this is after President Trump announces
- 10:48Speaker 4: banning single family home purchases by institutional investors. Within minutes,
- 10:54Speaker 4: Blackstone Stock erased as much as seventeen billion dollars because
- 11:00Speaker 4: I will realize that the presence onto what's happening with
- 11:02Speaker 4: his institutional investors and now calling on Congress to ban
- 11:06Speaker 4: investment firms buying homes is exactly what the American people needed.
- 11:12Speaker 4: They need it to make sure they can take care
- 11:13Speaker 4: of themselves and become first time home buyers. That's why
- 11:18Speaker 4: this is such an important conversation and again why I
- 11:22Speaker 4: think so many Americans are like Donald Trump is my president.
- 11:26Speaker 4: I'm proud of him, and he's standing out for all
- 11:29Speaker 4: of us and trying to make it easier for us
- 11:32Speaker 4: to live in the greatest country in the world.
