- 0:01Speaker 1: Eight men, all migrants, have been arrested for allegedly looting
- 0:06Speaker 1: and burglarizing flood ravage victims in eastern Tennessee. All eight men,
- 0:12Speaker 1: all migrants, were arrested for looting and burglarizing victims. The
- 0:18Speaker 1: suspects were arrested in Washington County, Tennessee, on September the
- 0:22Speaker 1: twenty ninth, on suspension of burglary and or aggravated burglary.
- 0:27Speaker 1: All of the individuals, Yes, looks like they are illegal
- 0:32Speaker 1: immigrants who are seeing an opportunity here to take from
- 0:37Speaker 1: those that are suffering. And those are the people that
- 0:40Speaker 1: Kamala Harris and Joe Biden have let into this country.
- 0:43Speaker 1: And I go back to what I said earlier. They
- 0:46Speaker 1: don't care if you are in a state that won't
- 0:51Speaker 1: vote for them, or they believe is not going to
- 0:53Speaker 1: vote for them, then screw you.
- 0:55Speaker 2: And oh, by the way, yeah we sure did. We
- 0:58Speaker 2: brought in.
- 0:58Speaker 1: A whole bunch, a whole bunch of illegal immigrants, and yeah,
- 1:03Speaker 1: they're going to steal from you when they have an.
- 1:05Speaker 2: Opportunity to do it. To fall out from something that JD.
- 1:09Speaker 1: Vance said that the left is really upset about. And
- 1:13Speaker 1: he said, and they were trying to turn into like, oh,
- 1:15Speaker 1: you're a racist because he said, well, you let twenty
- 1:18Speaker 1: million American or legal immigrants come into America, what the
- 1:21Speaker 1: hell do you think was going to happen?
- 1:22Speaker 2: We're going to have higher home prices.
- 1:25Speaker 1: And they immediately were like, that's not true, that's not true.
- 1:28Speaker 2: Right, it is true. We know it's true.
- 1:31Speaker 3: Now.
- 1:31Speaker 1: Tim Waltz is out there saying in these one on
- 1:33Speaker 1: one interviews, Oh, we're going to make housing more affordable
- 1:35Speaker 1: again without a plan, but he keeps saying it over
- 1:38Speaker 1: and over again.
- 1:38Speaker 2: Apparently everybody believes him.
- 1:40Speaker 4: We're here in Asheville. This is one area of the
- 1:42Speaker 4: state where we've seen housing prices skyrocket. Here, there's very
- 1:46Speaker 4: little affordable housing. It's the story you see time and again.
- 1:50Speaker 4: How do you think your plan can help?
- 1:52Speaker 5: Well, first of all, the Vice President's plan starts by
- 1:54Speaker 5: that this shortage of housing units in general is three
- 1:59Speaker 5: million new unit and she understands this is making sure
- 2:02Speaker 5: that we're not seeing banks by these things up keep
- 2:03Speaker 5: money inventory, and then that down payment assistance for me,
- 2:06Speaker 5: I use the GI bill. I think she's talking about
- 2:08Speaker 5: making sure you tax credits, that we're able to make
- 2:10Speaker 5: sure people have the money to go forward.
- 2:13Speaker 2: I love this.
- 2:13Speaker 1: So they say, well, we just seed a bunch more houses,
- 2:17Speaker 1: and we're gonna give you money to do it, right.
- 2:19Speaker 1: And so then they came out with this plan. They're like,
- 2:20Speaker 1: all right, we're just gonna give you like twenty five
- 2:22Speaker 1: thousand dollars. Kama Harrison a big, big one on one
- 2:25Speaker 1: exclusive with MSNBC with this type of propaganda, and she said, well,
- 2:31Speaker 1: we're gonna housing more affordable, right, and we're gonna we're
- 2:34Speaker 1: gonna make sure they're not price gouging you.
- 2:36Speaker 2: And they blame everybody.
- 2:37Speaker 1: They blame the boogeyman, the evil big banks, the private investors, right.
- 2:42Speaker 2: And so then they.
- 2:44Speaker 1: Come out they're like, God, we're gonna give you money
- 2:46Speaker 1: for houses, right, Like we're gonna we're gonna give you
- 2:49Speaker 1: a bunch of cash. We're gonna give you twenty five
- 2:52Speaker 1: thousand highest bidder if that's what you want, We're gonna
- 2:55Speaker 1: we're gonna we're gonna give you, you know, twenty five
- 2:57Speaker 1: thousand and and and that's gonna, you know, fix your problem. Well,
- 3:01Speaker 1: every economist came out like, if you give a twenty
- 3:04Speaker 1: five thousand dollars check first time home buyers, that's going
- 3:06Speaker 1: to happen. The price of every home in America is
- 3:07Speaker 1: just going to go up. Like everybody knows this, it's
- 3:11Speaker 1: basic economics. And you have this idea now that oh, well,
- 3:16Speaker 1: we're just gonna, you know, randomly build a bunch of
- 3:19Speaker 1: houses that the government's going to subsidize, and that's somehow
- 3:24Speaker 1: going to fix the problem. Harris is going to kill housing,
- 3:28Speaker 1: is what the experts have said. They're going to kill housing.
- 3:32Speaker 2: Now.
- 3:33Speaker 1: Not only are they going to kill it with they're planned,
- 3:34Speaker 1: but they're killing the American dream of owning a house
- 3:37Speaker 1: because of all the illegal immigrants they've led into this country.
- 3:41Speaker 1: And during the debate, they're like, well, that's not true.
- 3:42Speaker 6: And J. D.
- 3:43Speaker 1: Vance wrote back pretty quickly right the to the biased
- 3:47Speaker 1: people he's talking to. He was like, hold on a second, Well,
- 3:50Speaker 1: we'll put it up online. We'll stick the facts out there.
- 3:53Speaker 1: If you think that illegal immigrants aren't rising the prices
- 3:56Speaker 1: of home and rent, you're insane. And guess what the
- 3:59Speaker 1: fact show you guessed it. That's exactly what's happening, all right.
- 4:03Speaker 1: So before I get back to the busted fact check
- 4:06Speaker 1: on the lie that was told during the debate that
- 4:09Speaker 1: illegal immigrants are not causing the prices of housing and
- 4:13Speaker 1: rent to go up. Let's just also hammer down on
- 4:17Speaker 1: this twenty five thousand dollars that she just randomly says
- 4:20Speaker 1: is like magic money that she's going to give out
- 4:22Speaker 1: to everybody that wants to buy a house.
- 4:25Speaker 2: It's never going to happen.
- 4:26Speaker 1: Number one, and number two, it is not going to
- 4:29Speaker 1: lower the price of housing or make housing more affordable,
- 4:31Speaker 1: which is what she's claiming. It's just going to make
- 4:33Speaker 1: the price of every house cup twenty five grand. Because
- 4:35Speaker 1: everybody knows, well, you got the twenty five grand. The
- 4:37Speaker 1: government just gave it to you, which means the taxpayers
- 4:39Speaker 1: we are subsidizing everybody else's house.
- 4:42Speaker 7: Listen, I want to talk about Harris's Kamala Harris's economic plan.
- 4:47Speaker 7: You've got a tweet out there saying that Harris is
- 4:50Speaker 7: either financially illiterate, incompetent, or she believes her voters are.
- 4:55Speaker 7: You really don't like her plan? Do your grant no,
- 4:57Speaker 7: because I know it won't work.
- 4:58Speaker 6: Okay, she's going to to kill housing, Okay, Like I
- 5:02Speaker 6: don't know why she's I guess I understand why she's
- 5:04Speaker 6: not giving people like you a moment to ask her
- 5:07Speaker 6: a question, why would you want to build or three
- 5:09Speaker 6: million homes when you know your four point two million
- 5:12Speaker 6: home shark? Why would you want to give a twenty
- 5:14Speaker 6: five thousand dollars first time tax credit or buyer's credit
- 5:18Speaker 6: when you know that's going to inflate housing? Okay, martgage
- 5:21Speaker 6: applications had a spike this weekend, we're still lower than
- 5:24Speaker 6: two thousand, two thousand and eight twenty ten, literally the
- 5:27Speaker 6: lowest levels in twenty four years of martgage applications. The
- 5:30Speaker 6: housing market is getting slaughtered and nobody's talking about it.
- 5:34Speaker 6: And if she thinks twenty five thousand dollars is going
- 5:37Speaker 6: to somehow, you know, relieve the system, she's crazy.
- 5:41Speaker 8: So she's either lying to.
- 5:42Speaker 6: The public or worse, she doesn't know what she's talking about,
- 5:46Speaker 6: or her her team doesn't.
- 5:48Speaker 9: Now now, I know, Mark Cuban's a huge fan of hers.
- 5:50Speaker 9: Right now, he's at a pimping like every minute of every day.
- 5:54Speaker 9: But and Mark knows a lot about a lot of things.
- 5:57Speaker 9: But housing is not going to get fixed. Because she
- 6:01Speaker 9: promises to.
- 6:01Speaker 6: Build three million homes, she doesn't even know what it
- 6:03Speaker 6: would cost, how long it would take, who would build them,
- 6:06Speaker 6: who would get the homes.
- 6:07Speaker 8: And by the way, it's six percent interest.
- 6:10Speaker 6: You can't afford a loon anyway, because the interests alone
- 6:14Speaker 6: is two thousand dollars a month.
- 6:16Speaker 1: Grant caught on the interest alone is two thousand dollars
- 6:19Speaker 1: a month. So this idea that I'm just going to
- 6:21Speaker 1: hand out twenty five k and it's going to fix
- 6:23Speaker 1: the problem, and you're going to build three million homes. Now,
- 6:26Speaker 1: in my lifetime, we've never had a conversation about building
- 6:29Speaker 1: three million homes. Like, that's never been a conversation. And
- 6:34Speaker 1: I think the real reason why we've never had that
- 6:38Speaker 1: conversation is because we've never had to deal with the
- 6:42Speaker 1: possibility of being three million homes too short, right, Like,
- 6:46Speaker 1: we've never had to have that conversation. Why are we
- 6:49Speaker 1: even having the conversation. It goes back to what jd
- 6:52Speaker 1: Vance said, and it's the fact that we have a
- 6:56Speaker 1: housing crisis in this country because we have an immigration
- 6:59Speaker 1: crisis that is skyrocke at the cost of rent and homes.
- 7:04Speaker 1: So called policy experts quote unquote at the libertarian Kiddo Institute,
- 7:08Speaker 1: known for its defense of open borders, are admitting now
- 7:12Speaker 1: that center jd Vance is correct when he says immigration
- 7:16Speaker 1: increases increases housing prices for Americans. We don't want to
- 7:21Speaker 1: want to blame immigrants for higher housing prices, but we
- 7:24Speaker 1: do want to blame Kamala Harris for letting in millions
- 7:27Speaker 1: of illegal aliens in this country, which does drive up costs.
- 7:31Speaker 1: Vance said it Tuesday Evening's vice president of Debate. Twenty
- 7:34Speaker 1: five million illegal aliens are competing with Americans for houses
- 7:40Speaker 1: for homes, and it's one of the most significant drivers
- 7:44Speaker 1: of home prices in the country. It's why we have
- 7:48Speaker 1: massive increases in home prices and have happened right alongside
- 7:52Speaker 1: massive increases in illegal alien populations under Kamla Harris's leadership. Also,
- 7:58Speaker 1: you want to know where home prices of skyrocket the
- 7:59Speaker 1: most and heavily populated areas where illegal immigrants are living. Yes,
- 8:05Speaker 1: that is the truth. So when JD. Vance said what
- 8:08Speaker 1: he said, he wasn't lying. He was speaking truth to power,
- 8:12Speaker 1: which is exactly why they hated what he said.
- 8:14Speaker 8: Tim just said something that I agree with.
- 8:16Speaker 10: We don't want to blame immigrants for higher housing prices,
- 8:18Speaker 10: but we do want to blame Kamala Harris for letting
- 8:21Speaker 10: in millions of illegal aliens into this country, which does
- 8:25Speaker 10: drive up cost him twenty five million Illegal aliens competing
- 8:29Speaker 10: with Americans for scarce homes is one of the most
- 8:32Speaker 10: significant drivers of home prices in the country. It's why
- 8:35Speaker 10: we have massive increases in home prices that have happened
- 8:39Speaker 10: right alongside massive increases in illegal alien populations under Kamala
- 8:45Speaker 10: Harris's leadership. Now, Tim just mentioned a bunch of ideas. Now,
- 8:48Speaker 10: some of those ideas actually think are halfway decent, and
- 8:51Speaker 10: some of them I disagree with. But the most important
- 8:53Speaker 10: thing here is Kamala Harris is not running as a
- 8:56Speaker 10: newcomer to politics.
- 8:57Speaker 8: She is the sitting vice president.
- 8:59Speaker 10: Is she wants to enact all of these policies to
- 9:02Speaker 10: make housing more affordable. I invite her to use the
- 9:05Speaker 10: office that the American people already gave her, not sit
- 9:08Speaker 10: around and campaign and do nothing while Americans find the
- 9:12Speaker 10: American dream of home ownership completely unaffordable.
- 9:16Speaker 1: One of the reasons why I think this moment was
- 9:18Speaker 1: so effective for him is because if you were listening
- 9:21Speaker 1: and you're looking at buying a house, or you're looking
- 9:23Speaker 1: to rent, or you decided not to buy a house,
- 9:26Speaker 1: is because you understood what he was saying there.
- 9:30Speaker 2: Jd Vance is correct.
- 9:32Speaker 1: Immigration increases housing prices, and that's just the truth. It's
- 9:37Speaker 1: okay to admit that, but the media doesn't want to
- 9:39Speaker 1: talk about that. The intersection of supply and demand determines
- 9:42Speaker 1: housing prices, like all prices.
- 9:44Speaker 2: Quote.
- 9:44Speaker 1: When housing supply curves are upward sloping, increase demand from
- 9:49Speaker 1: immigrants will increase housing prices. Immigrants are people who want
- 9:53Speaker 1: to roof over their heads, after all. So when you're
- 9:56Speaker 1: going to the market to rent or buy, does the
- 9:59Speaker 1: market care if you're an illegal or not? The answer
- 10:01Speaker 1: is no, it doesn't matter. Bringing the discussion back to
- 10:05Speaker 1: Springfield and Ohio, where Van started, housing prices have increased
- 10:09Speaker 1: there as more Haitian migrants have moved in. According to Redfin,
- 10:13Speaker 1: the medium sale price of a single family hold sold
- 10:17Speaker 1: there has increased from seventy eight thousand, five hundred dollars
- 10:22Speaker 1: in August of twenty nineteen to one hundred and fifty
- 10:26Speaker 1: eight thousand in August of twenty twenty four. That is
- 10:30Speaker 1: a one hundred and one percent increase in nominal terms.
- 10:35Speaker 1: By the way, the nationwide increase was forty six percent
- 10:39Speaker 1: in nominal terms during the same period, and what happened
- 10:42Speaker 1: during that period, a massive influx and illegal immigrants by
- 10:47Speaker 1: the millions coming across the Southern border that has made
- 10:52Speaker 1: renters and first time home buyers worse off than Springfield
- 10:56Speaker 1: and homeowners who are mostly native born quote that are off.
- 11:01Speaker 1: At a recent House Oversight Committee hearing, the Center for
- 11:03Speaker 1: Immigration Studies director point increase in the recent immigrant share
- 11:09Speaker 1: of a metro area's population is associated with a twelve
- 11:14Speaker 1: percent increase in the average US born household rent relative
- 11:18Speaker 1: to their income. What did they note, The high levels
- 11:21Speaker 1: of immigration particularly increase rents. Adding this, very large numbers
- 11:28Speaker 1: of people added to the country are significantly impacting housing
- 11:33Speaker 1: prices by driving up demand for rental properties. The Census
- 11:36Speaker 1: Bureau reports of the increase in rents in twenty twenty
- 11:39Speaker 1: three was by far the largest and the past decade.
- 11:43Speaker 1: And what happened during that period of time we had
- 11:46Speaker 1: the largest increase of immigrants, illegal immigrants coming across the
- 11:50Speaker 1: southern border. And the fact that the media even tried
- 11:53Speaker 1: to argue with him over this is insane. Governor Well,
- 11:58Speaker 1: it's had some problems last night, including the fact he
- 12:01Speaker 1: had to admit that Minnesota's taxes are among the highest
- 12:03Speaker 1: in the country. He also had to admit that he
- 12:06Speaker 1: raised taxes on as most governors were cunning them, and
- 12:10Speaker 1: Minnesota is the most expensive state to start a business.
- 12:13Speaker 1: A new study has found this was not good. There
- 12:17Speaker 1: was also the corporate greed. Minnesota has a nine point
- 12:21Speaker 1: eight percent corporate income tax, is the highest in the nation,
- 12:24Speaker 1: and Minnesota's in the top ten for marginal state individual
- 12:27Speaker 1: income tax rates.
- 12:29Speaker 2: All of these things.
- 12:31Speaker 1: Now a problem for Tim Walls, who went out there
- 12:35Speaker 1: a guy who was trying to act like he is well,
- 12:38Speaker 1: you know, small town, rural guy, and his passwords have
- 12:43Speaker 1: well come back to haunt him. What did he have
- 12:46Speaker 1: to say about refugees, Well, listen to this.
- 12:50Speaker 11: We have more refugees per capita than any other state.
- 12:53Speaker 11: That's not just morally a good thing, it's our economic
- 12:57Speaker 11: and cultural future.
- 12:58Speaker 8: This beautiful diverse se See Autumn Worthington.
- 13:01Speaker 11: When I'm there, you see fifty languages spoken in the school.
- 13:05Speaker 1: Fifty languages spoken to school. That is what Tim Waltz
- 13:09Speaker 1: has decided to import to Minnesota. Now he's trying to
- 13:12Speaker 1: act like we want to be tough on the border
- 13:14Speaker 1: and have laws that protect you, right, that protect you
- 13:20Speaker 1: from all the chaos and anarchy that is going on. Well,
- 13:24Speaker 1: it didn't work out very well for him because he
- 13:27Speaker 1: was trying to change his record. What I just played
- 13:30Speaker 1: for you is when he was running for governor, he
- 13:31Speaker 1: was proud of having a massive, massive, massive, massive amount
- 13:37Speaker 1: of illegal immigrants in his state. Yeah, it is very
- 13:43Speaker 1: clear that was not what they were wanting him to
- 13:46Speaker 1: be on stage, and guess what, it was not a
- 13:51Speaker 1: good night for him.
- 13:52Speaker 2: The media trying to spin it, however.
- 13:55Speaker 1: Brazinski, Joe Scarborough's woman on MSNBS, she tried to spend
- 14:02Speaker 1: it saying this.
- 14:03Speaker 12: I agree with you, Elise. I was surprised by that moment.
- 14:07Speaker 12: I was surprised by a number of moments like that,
- 14:10Speaker 12: but we'll take that one as the example. By the way,
- 14:12Speaker 12: I don't think it matters how late the great moment
- 14:15Speaker 12: was because unfortunately we TV people were not that important anymore.
- 14:20Speaker 12: People take nuggets online on social media.
- 14:23Speaker 2: It's the truth.
- 14:24Speaker 12: I mean, it's going to be all about the clips
- 14:26Speaker 12: and about what's put out here and there, and so
- 14:29Speaker 12: he can still win the day, and it's showing. The
- 14:32Speaker 12: reaction is not bad.
- 14:33Speaker 2: To Tim Waltz.
- 14:34Speaker 12: I will say, though, to that Teneman Square answer. I
- 14:38Speaker 12: was waiting for what are you talking about? I misspoke,
- 14:40Speaker 12: and I'm sorry about that. This guy lies every day
- 14:43Speaker 12: about legal migrants. He dehumanizes legal migrants. The governor of
- 14:47Speaker 12: Ohio is begging for jd. Vance and Donald Trump to
- 14:51Speaker 12: stop doing this to our community, and they continue lies
- 14:55Speaker 12: about January sixth. He's lying about the twenty twenty election.
- 14:58Speaker 12: I misspoke twenty three years ago. You can talk about
- 15:01Speaker 12: what he said six hours ago. These guys lie for
- 15:04Speaker 12: a living.
- 15:06Speaker 1: That would have been my answer, by the way, when
- 15:09Speaker 1: they're having to carry water for you that way and say, oh,
- 15:11Speaker 1: I would have given a different answer.
- 15:14Speaker 2: Tim Waltz had a bad moment in the debate.
- 15:16Speaker 1: He was asked about his lie that he was at
- 15:18Speaker 1: Tim and Square and that he was there when everything
- 15:21Speaker 1: was going on, and well, he made that up. It
- 15:23Speaker 1: was a lie. It never happened. It just never happened.
- 15:29Speaker 1: And so what he said was as well, I misspoke.
- 15:33Speaker 1: It was one of the most awkward moments of the
- 15:35Speaker 1: debate because he was asked and he had this fake
- 15:39Speaker 1: answer and it didn't work.
- 15:41Speaker 2: Listen to the answer.
- 15:43Speaker 13: We want to ask you about your leadership qualities, Governor Walls,
- 15:48Speaker 13: you said you were in Hong Kong during the deadly
- 15:50Speaker 13: Tenemen Square protests in the spring of nineteen eighty nine.
- 15:54Speaker 13: But Minnesota Public Radio and other media outlets are reporting
- 15:57Speaker 13: that you actually didn't travel to Asia until August of
- 16:01Speaker 13: that year. Can you explain that discrepancy well, and to the.
- 16:06Speaker 11: Folks out there, it didn't get at the top of this.
- 16:07Speaker 8: Look.
- 16:08Speaker 11: I grew up in small, rural Nebraska town of four
- 16:12Speaker 11: hundred town that you rode your bike with your buddies
- 16:14Speaker 11: till the street lights come on, and I'm proud of
- 16:16Speaker 11: that service. I joined the National Guard at seventeen, worked
- 16:19Speaker 11: on family farms, and then I use the GI bill
- 16:23Speaker 11: to become a teacher. Passionate about it a young teacher.
- 16:26Speaker 11: My first year out, I got the opportunity in the
- 16:28Speaker 11: summer of eighty nine to travel to China thirty five
- 16:31Speaker 11: years ago. Be able to do that, I came back
- 16:33Speaker 11: home and then started a program to take young people there.
- 16:37Speaker 11: We would take basketball teams, we would take baseball teams,
- 16:40Speaker 11: we would take dancers, and we would go back and
- 16:42Speaker 11: forth to China. The issue for that was was to
- 16:45Speaker 11: try and learn. Now, look, my community knows who I am.
- 16:48Speaker 11: They saw where I was at they look. I will
- 16:51Speaker 11: be the first to tell you I have poured my
- 16:53Speaker 11: heart into my community. I've tried to do the best
- 16:55Speaker 11: I can, but I've not been perfect, and I'm a
- 16:58Speaker 11: knucklehead at times. But it's always about that those same
- 17:01Speaker 11: people elected me to Congress for twelve years, and in
- 17:05Speaker 11: Congress I was one of the most bipartisan people, working
- 17:08Speaker 11: on things like farm bills that we got done, working
- 17:10Speaker 11: on veterans benefits, and then the people of Minnesota were
- 17:13Speaker 11: able to elect me to governor twice. So look, my
- 17:16Speaker 11: commitment has been from the beginning to make sure that
- 17:19Speaker 11: I'm there for the people, to make sure that I
- 17:21Speaker 11: get this right.
- 17:22Speaker 8: I will say more than anything.
- 17:24Speaker 11: Many times, I will talk a lot, I will get
- 17:27Speaker 11: caught up in the rhetoric, but being there, the impact
- 17:31Speaker 11: it made, the difference it made in my life. I
- 17:33Speaker 11: learned a lot about China. I hear the critiques of this.
- 17:35Speaker 11: I would make the case that Donald Trump should have
- 17:38Speaker 11: come on one of those trips with US. I guarantee
- 17:40Speaker 11: you he wouldn't be praising Shijing ping about COVID, and
- 17:44Speaker 11: I guarantee you he wouldn't start a trade war that
- 17:46Speaker 11: he ends up losing. So this is about trying to
- 17:49Speaker 11: understand the world. It's about trying to do the best
- 17:52Speaker 11: you can for your community. And then it's putting yourself
- 17:55Speaker 11: out there and letting your folks understand what it is
- 17:57Speaker 11: my commitment. Whether it be through teaching, which I was good,
- 18:00Speaker 11: or whether it was being a good soldier or was
- 18:02Speaker 11: being a good member of Congress. Those are the things
- 18:04Speaker 11: that I think are the values that people care about.
- 18:07Speaker 13: Governor, just to follow up on that, the question was
- 18:10Speaker 13: can you explain Thereancy?
- 18:13Speaker 11: All I said on this was is I got there
- 18:15Speaker 11: that summer and misspoke on this, So I will just
- 18:18Speaker 11: that's what I've said. So I was in Hong Kong
- 18:22Speaker 11: and China during the democracy protests went in and from
- 18:26Speaker 11: that I learned a lot of what needed to be
- 18:28Speaker 11: in governance.
- 18:30Speaker 13: Thank you, Governor. Senator Vance in twenty.
- 18:34Speaker 1: I mean, that was one of the most painful moments.
- 18:38Speaker 1: As a guy's like, hey, I talk a lot. Translation,
- 18:41Speaker 1: Hey I lie a lot, right Like, He's like, look,
- 18:43Speaker 1: I lie a lot. Maybe they know I have a
- 18:46Speaker 1: good like I have a good you know spirit, while
- 18:49Speaker 1: I'm lying a lot about being in tim Square when
- 18:52Speaker 1: the actual you know, protests and the killing was going on.
- 18:56Speaker 1: I know I wasn't there for like another five months,
- 18:59Speaker 1: but I was there and it was somewhat going on,
- 19:01Speaker 1: and I just, you know, you know, I sometimes I'm
- 19:04Speaker 1: just goofy and I just talk a lot and you
- 19:08Speaker 1: could hear it on MSNBC. And that's why I played
- 19:11Speaker 1: you that clip first where she's like, if I had
- 19:15Speaker 1: that question, I would have just said I'm really sorry.
- 19:18Speaker 1: I would have just apologized, right like, I would have
- 19:21Speaker 1: just said, hey, it was a mistake. It was a mistake,
- 19:26Speaker 1: it was and moved on. No, you can't do that
- 19:29Speaker 1: if you won't, and why.
- 19:30Speaker 2: Do you have to? The media is going to carry
- 19:33Speaker 2: water for you. But it was a moment that tells
- 19:36Speaker 2: you a lot about him as a person. I think.
- 19:38Speaker 1: I think it tells you an awful lot about him
- 19:42Speaker 1: as a person, and it tells you that he's willing
- 19:45Speaker 1: to lie to you about anything to build himself up.
- 19:50Speaker 1: I was in Deman Square when it was all going down.
- 19:53Speaker 1: Really you were, well, I wasn't, but I was in.
- 19:56Speaker 1: I mean, that's that's no different than stolen valor him
- 20:00Speaker 1: lying about his rank, right, I mean, let's just be honest.
- 20:05Speaker 2: It's no different than that.
- 20:08Speaker 1: I mean, it.
- 20:08Speaker 2: Is no different, no different than that.
- 20:14Speaker 1: At least Jordan on MSNBC saying something about jd Vance
- 20:18Speaker 1: never thought I'd heard here on MSNBC listen.
- 20:22Speaker 8: I was disappointed.
- 20:23Speaker 14: I felt like the reasons that Kamala Harris chose Governor
- 20:26Speaker 14: Walls didn't really come out last night.
- 20:29Speaker 8: The Governor Walls, who.
- 20:30Speaker 14: Was joking, who was free flowing in interviews, who was
- 20:35Speaker 14: kind of you know that guy in your hometown who's
- 20:37Speaker 14: a local leader and he's a lot of fun, but
- 20:39Speaker 14: he can be serious. I just saw someone trying to
- 20:43Speaker 14: be who he wasn't, and it allowed jd Vance to
- 20:47Speaker 14: just skate through. It was disappointing too that Governor Walls
- 20:52Speaker 14: just didn't have a better answer for why he had
- 20:55Speaker 14: said previously that he was in Tianaman Square when he wasn't,
- 20:59Speaker 14: you know something easily he could have easily said I misspoke,
- 21:03Speaker 14: I'm sorry, But instead he you know, almost made it worse.
- 21:07Speaker 1: He almost made it worse. Now that is a liberal
- 21:10Speaker 1: on MSNBC. So they can spend it all they want
- 21:15Speaker 1: they I mean, they can spin it all they want,
- 21:17Speaker 1: but the truth is, I don't think Tim Waltz helped
- 21:21Speaker 1: the ticket last night, and I do believe that jd
- 21:23Speaker 1: Vance helped Donald Trump last night.
- 21:28Speaker 2: Even on MSNBC.
- 21:30Speaker 1: There was another part of the conversation where Lemire had
- 21:34Speaker 1: this to say about jd Vance's performance.
- 21:37Speaker 15: Yeah, Advance definitely put forward his best version of himself
- 21:40Speaker 15: yesterday and frankly aided by Governor Wallas, who the two
- 21:42Speaker 15: men were so civil that Walls almost normalized Vance.
- 21:46Speaker 8: He never used the word weird.
- 21:47Speaker 15: That was that Tim Wallas is on the ticket because
- 21:50Speaker 15: he kept talking about how jd Vance and Donald Trump
- 21:52Speaker 15: and Republicans are weird, and he never used that last night.
- 21:56Speaker 15: To Donnie's point about maybe Trump's mixed feelings about the debate,
- 21:59Speaker 15: though he prayed Advance's appearance, he also at one point
- 22:02Speaker 15: mid debate started tweeting about Pete Rose started to be
- 22:04Speaker 15: in the Hall of Fame, So perhaps his own attention
- 22:07Speaker 15: was sort of lost, But at least I was.
- 22:09Speaker 8: Also struck that. But the Governor Walls didn't.
- 22:12Speaker 15: He sort of took a pass on some what could
- 22:14Speaker 15: have been some pretty devastating attacks. He didn't mention the
- 22:17Speaker 15: weird issue. He never brought up childless cat lays just
- 22:19Speaker 15: never came up. He didn't talk about Ukraine and Ukraine
- 22:23Speaker 15: where Advance has made clear he has no interest in
- 22:26Speaker 15: supporting Kiev. He only brought up Project twenty twenty five once,
- 22:29Speaker 15: and that's an issue that's been so effective for Democrats.
- 22:32Speaker 15: That said that final minute in January sixth, about January
- 22:36Speaker 15: sixth was Walls's best moment. And the Harris campaign has
- 22:39Speaker 15: already cut an ad.
- 22:41Speaker 1: They cut an ad because at the end he started
- 22:43Speaker 1: attacking Donald Trump on January the sixth, and they said
- 22:48Speaker 1: it was the best moment. There's something like, well it
- 22:50Speaker 1: was late in the night. Look, they already cut an ad.
- 22:52Speaker 1: They're going to turn it into an ad. I think
- 22:54Speaker 1: that's very clear because they believe that's going to work
- 22:57Speaker 1: with Democratic voters, maybe inspired Democratic voters.
- 23:01Speaker 2: But there's no doubt that Tim Waltz last night did
- 23:05Speaker 2: not win the debate.
- 23:08Speaker 1: Even Donnie dorschh on MSNBC and I play you MSNBC
- 23:12Speaker 1: eclips because I want you to understand there if they're
- 23:17Speaker 1: downplaying it or trying to cover for Waltz, you know,
- 23:21Speaker 1: it was that bad of a night. And Donnie said
- 23:24Speaker 1: this about JD Vance.
- 23:26Speaker 3: Listen, simple Governor Waltz turned to JD. Van said he
- 23:30Speaker 3: lose the twenty twenty election, as sixty three courts decided.
- 23:34Speaker 3: As everyone around Donald Trump knows and has said since
- 23:36Speaker 3: that he lost. As Donald Trump has slipped several times
- 23:39Speaker 3: and said he lost. Couldn't answer the question. So for
- 23:42Speaker 3: as smooth as JD. Vans was, for as fluent as
- 23:45Speaker 3: he sounded on policy, we'll get into some of the
- 23:47Speaker 3: contradictions on the Affordable Care Act, claiming that Donald Trump
- 23:51Speaker 3: tried to save it when in fact the exact opposite
- 23:53Speaker 3: is what happened, his own record, misrepresenting his own record JD.
- 23:57Speaker 3: Vans on the question of abortion. There's a whole lot
- 23:59Speaker 3: to comb through. He was good last night. That moment
- 24:04Speaker 3: that crystallizes the whole thing. You can't even say that
- 24:06Speaker 3: your running mate lost eighty eight minutes.
- 24:09Speaker 8: He was good. I mean, he was too slick maybe.
- 24:12Speaker 2: But he was.
- 24:13Speaker 16: He certainly was not the kind of despicable character that
- 24:16Speaker 16: we had kind of seen clips of.
- 24:18Speaker 8: I thought it was a drawing up until that point,
- 24:20Speaker 8: and I think that that.
- 24:21Speaker 1: Did Did you did you hear that he wasn't the
- 24:23Speaker 1: despicable character that we had seen the clips of translation
- 24:28Speaker 1: that we the media have tried to turn him into,
- 24:31Speaker 1: like I think they're mad because, in their opinion, they're like, dude,
- 24:37Speaker 1: we got this guy to the point where he was weird, right,
- 24:40Speaker 1: We are the ones that said.
- 24:41Speaker 2: He's weird, he's weird, he's weird.
- 24:43Speaker 1: And we and we and we got him to a
- 24:45Speaker 1: point where everyone believed that he was weird, and then
- 24:49Speaker 1: he wasn't weird. So that kind of hurt us, Right,
- 24:52Speaker 1: he's not weird. We thought he was weird, but he's
- 24:55Speaker 1: really not weird. And we had designed him as being weird,
- 24:59Speaker 1: but he's really not weird. That's that's what he was
- 25:02Speaker 1: saying there like that, That's that's the whole that's the
- 25:05Speaker 1: whole ballgame. Well, he's just weird. It didn't work anymore.
- 25:09Speaker 1: It did not work, and it backfired. And so that's
- 25:13Speaker 1: why you heard Downy there saying, well, okay, maybe you
- 25:15Speaker 1: had a better night than we thought. And and and
- 25:19Speaker 1: then he goes back into attacking Donald Trump was disqualifying.
- 25:23Speaker 16: I think that's disqualifying in the election if you can't
- 25:25Speaker 16: say that. I mean, I think that that's the issue
- 25:28Speaker 16: that whenever I get into debates with anybody, I go, well,
- 25:30Speaker 16: put democracy dumb kind of on the docket.
- 25:33Speaker 10: Uh.
- 25:34Speaker 8: I want to go back to Kimmel's joke at the beginning.
- 25:36Speaker 16: That it was born, and I was thinking the whole time,
- 25:39Speaker 16: this is going to be a referendum on what people
- 25:41Speaker 16: want going forward. I think the big theme of this
- 25:43Speaker 16: thing was that it was very congenial and it was
- 25:45Speaker 16: not a blood sport.
- 25:46Speaker 8: It was not UFC. It was more like boxing.
- 25:49Speaker 16: And is the American public Your intuition says, well, the
- 25:52Speaker 16: America public is ready for that.
- 25:54Speaker 8: They want that.
- 25:55Speaker 2: But then I kind of said to myself.
- 25:56Speaker 16: Is there's this sick, twisted thing that people are addicted
- 25:59Speaker 16: to the sick entertainment value of Donald Trump, and that
- 26:03Speaker 16: they were kind of disappointed. I was enjoying it, but
- 26:06Speaker 16: they're just, well, no, that's no fun.
- 26:08Speaker 8: Are we gonna go back to that? Now?
- 26:10Speaker 16: My better angels in me say no, people are ready
- 26:13Speaker 16: for that.
- 26:13Speaker 8: But it's an interesting question.
- 26:15Speaker 16: Final thought, going back to what Joe said this morning
- 26:17Speaker 16: at mar A Lago, What's going on is that people
- 26:19Speaker 16: are going up as they're getting the Danish in there
- 26:21Speaker 16: and their buncake at Narlogi, They're going up to Donald
- 26:24Speaker 16: and saying, boy, Vance was great last night.
- 26:26Speaker 8: Wasn't He Wasn't Vance great? You know, and that's gonna
- 26:29Speaker 8: bother him.
- 26:29Speaker 16: That's gonna really bother them, that he was better than
- 26:31Speaker 16: Donald Trump, that he could litigate the case better than
- 26:34Speaker 16: Donald Trump and.
- 26:35Speaker 8: Donald Trump and you're gonna see what. He's gonna be
- 26:37Speaker 8: very dismissive of jd Vance in the coming weeks.
- 26:39Speaker 16: But Donald Trump is not happy this morning because jd
- 26:41Speaker 16: Van showed himself to be a superior candidate.
- 26:44Speaker 2: I love the Jedi mind trick? Did I go? He's
- 26:46Speaker 2: gonna hate jd Vance?
- 26:48Speaker 1: And it's so funny because five minutes before that, they're
- 26:51Speaker 1: saying that Walt's won. So which one is it? Did
- 26:56Speaker 1: Waltz win or did he not win? Like I just
- 27:00Speaker 1: got to know right which one is it? And I
- 27:03Speaker 1: think you can tell from that clip there there's no
- 27:06Speaker 1: doubt that jd Vance won. There's no doubt that Walt's underperformed.
- 27:11Speaker 1: And that's what this really boils down to. Tim Waltz
- 27:16Speaker 1: did not have a great debate. Jd Vance came in,
- 27:19Speaker 1: was likable, measured, and actually really I think kind Tim
- 27:25Speaker 1: Waltz on gun control, he didn't want your kids to
- 27:28Speaker 1: be safe in schools. Apparently he says, if you want
- 27:30Speaker 1: to put school resource officers at schools. Therefore, you're going
- 27:33Speaker 1: to look like you're a fort and that's not what
- 27:35Speaker 1: he wants. Did that connect with you as a parent?
- 27:37Speaker 1: Here is Waltz on gun control.
- 27:40Speaker 8: Governor, you have two minutes.
- 27:41Speaker 11: Well, I think all the parents watching tonight, this is
- 27:44Speaker 11: just your biggest nightmare.
- 27:45Speaker 8: Look. I got a seventeen year.
- 27:47Speaker 11: Old and he witnessed a shooting at a community center
- 27:50Speaker 11: playing volleyball. Those things don't leave you. As a member
- 27:53Speaker 11: of Congress, I set in my office surrounded by dozens
- 27:57Speaker 11: of the Sandyog parents and they would look at my
- 28:00Speaker 11: seven year old picture on the wall. Their seven year
- 28:02Speaker 11: old were dead, and they were asking us to do something,
- 28:05Speaker 11: and look.
- 28:05Speaker 8: I'm a hunter. I own firearms.
- 28:08Speaker 11: The vice president is we understand that the Second Amendment
- 28:11Speaker 11: is there, but our first responsibilities to our.
- 28:13Speaker 8: Kids to figure this out.
- 28:15Speaker 11: In Minnesota, we've enacted enhanced red flag laws, enhanced background checks,
- 28:21Speaker 11: and we can start.
- 28:22Speaker 8: To get data. But here's the problem.
- 28:24Speaker 11: If we really want to solve this, we've got folks
- 28:26Speaker 11: that won't allow research to be even done on gun violence,
- 28:30Speaker 11: and this idea that we should.
- 28:32Speaker 8: Just live with it.
- 28:33Speaker 11: And here's what I do think that This is a
- 28:35Speaker 11: good start to the conversation. I one hundred percent believe
- 28:39Speaker 11: that Senator Vance hates it when these kids it's a
- 28:42Speaker 11: borent and it breaks your heart. I agree with that,
- 28:45Speaker 11: but that's not far enough when we know they are
- 28:48Speaker 11: things that work. I've spent time in Finland and seen
- 28:51Speaker 11: some finish schools. They don't have this happened, even though
- 28:55Speaker 11: they have a high gun ownership rate in the country.
- 28:58Speaker 11: There are reasonable things that we can do to make
- 29:01Speaker 11: a difference. It's not infringing on your Second Amendment and
- 29:05Speaker 11: the idea to have some of these weapons out there,
- 29:08Speaker 11: it just doesn't make any sense. Kamala Harris, as an
- 29:11Speaker 11: Attorney General, worked on this issue.
- 29:13Speaker 8: She knows that it's there.
- 29:14Speaker 11: No one's trying to scare monger and say we're taking
- 29:17Speaker 11: your guns. But I ask all of you out there,
- 29:19Speaker 11: do you want your schools hardened to look like a fort?
- 29:23Speaker 11: Is that what we have to go When we know
- 29:26Speaker 11: there's countries around the world that their children aren't practicing
- 29:29Speaker 11: these types of drills. They're being kids. We owe it
- 29:32Speaker 11: to them to get a fix. These are things that
- 29:35Speaker 11: should be that difficult. You can still keep your firearms
- 29:38Speaker 11: and we can make a difference.
- 29:39Speaker 8: We have to. If you're listening tonight, this breaks your heart.
- 29:43Speaker 10: Senator sim First of all, I didn't know that your
- 29:45Speaker 10: seventeen year old witness is shooting.
- 29:46Speaker 8: I'm sorry about that, and I appreciate it. Okay, christ
- 29:49Speaker 8: have mercy. It is awful when.
- 29:52Speaker 2: He says, do you want your schools to look like
- 29:53Speaker 2: a fort?
- 29:54Speaker 10: No?
- 29:55Speaker 2: But I want them to be as secure as one.
- 29:57Speaker 1: And I think there should be resource officers at every
- 30:01Speaker 1: single school in this country, public or private. You know,
- 30:05Speaker 1: there's there's a difference between. It was funny when we
- 30:08Speaker 1: were looking at schools for my kids. It was the
- 30:12Speaker 1: number one question that my wife had about schools when
- 30:16Speaker 1: we were looking at schools was you know, educational quality
- 30:20Speaker 1: and friends and and just you know, different things like that.
- 30:24Speaker 1: And mine was the complete opposite of that. Mine was
- 30:29Speaker 1: I want to know about safety. That was my number
- 30:31Speaker 1: one issue. I'm not sending my kids to a school
- 30:33Speaker 1: where I feel like they are sitting duck. And this
- 30:36Speaker 1: idea like, oh we can kumbaya and just put up
- 30:39Speaker 1: a science as gun and free zone and somehow that's
- 30:41Speaker 1: going to work.
- 30:42Speaker 2: I don't. I don't see that. I don't get it.
- 30:47Speaker 2: I don't buy it.
- 30:48Speaker 1: I want my kids in a safe school, and that
- 30:50Speaker 1: means protecting them and all this other stuff. Well, we
- 30:54Speaker 1: should look at Finland. Finland's very different. There's a lot
- 30:58Speaker 1: of reasons why it's different. I'll explain that in moment,
- 31:00Speaker 1: but to compare it that way, it's absurd. Make sure
- 31:03Speaker 1: you share this podcast with your family and your friends.
- 31:06Speaker 1: Without you, guys, people don't hear this show. So thank
- 31:08Speaker 1: you for listening and sharing it, and I'll see you
- 31:10Speaker 1: back here tomorrow.
