Three weeks ago I said watch diesel as we go into harvest. Prices have exploded since; ExxonMobil’s Joliet refinery just shut down unexpectedly, and the situation in the Middle East keeps getting worse. Other voices are now also warning about crop abandonment as expenses are making a harvest economically unviable. Also: the USDA responds to one of my FOIAs about DARPA’s Tellus sensing-and-reporting microbes in the food supply.
