Latest / Palafox Media Network / Renner: Death Penalty Reform Needed
Transcript
- Paul Renner: I've spoken very clearly about the fact we will have a safe state when I'm governor. I'll tell you the death penalty is one of those that need reform where we to go in a lot stronger direction. average time on death row is over 30 years. And we're talking about people, not every murder the death penalty. People that rape and kill children, people that kill cops. people should not be gaming the system. They'll have three years for appeal. That's it. ⁓ they finish that appellate process, they make all their appeals then. They don't wait 30 years and say, ⁓ my lawyer was drunk the day of trial and I need a new trial ⁓ gaming the system when the death warrant comes down from the governor. So we're going to make sure that families go don't don't grow old and die before they ever see justice for their loved ones. And I think that's an offense to the ⁓ to the rule of law what the way we're doing it right now will go after public corruption. If you're making money off of things in Washington, D.C. as a congressman that you know that nobody else knows, should be recalled. You should come home. We don't need that.
