- 0:39Speaker 1: They's gonna lead that by example on my show today
- 0:42Speaker 1: because they always leave with their gifts. They thought they
- 0:44Speaker 1: had ideas that were value to them, and a lot
- 0:46Speaker 1: of people told me they were crazy. That's why we
- 0:48Speaker 1: tell people don't let your age, friends, family, or co
- 0:51Speaker 1: workers stop you from planning a living your dreams. My
- 0:55Speaker 1: interviews provided two consumers and business owner. I give him
- 0:58Speaker 1: access to celebrities, CEOs, entrepreneurs and industry decision makers. My
- 1:03Speaker 1: next guest are the Ghost Brothers. He mean the Ghost Brothers,
- 1:08Speaker 1: Dayla Spratt, Jiwan Mass Marcus Harvey. The Ghost Brothers are
- 1:12Speaker 1: the first and only African American paranormal investigative team on
- 1:15Speaker 1: TV that is not right there, you know, right there? Okay,
- 1:18Speaker 1: we always know that the black people always die first
- 1:21Speaker 1: in hard movies. Okay, they're breaking that, they're breaking that mold.
- 1:24Speaker 1: They ain't die. They go in and come out. The
- 1:27Speaker 1: Ghost Brothers seamlessly playing comedy with a refreshingly straightforward approach
- 1:30Speaker 1: to the paranormal, and their own new series Lights Out,
- 1:35Speaker 1: venturing across the country in different hotspots. Daylan Wan, there
- 1:39Speaker 1: was a little background by the hbc U background by
- 1:41Speaker 1: these brothers. Him, Dylan, and Jiwan met while attending Clark
- 1:45Speaker 1: Atlantic University and Marcus was a barber at Clark Atlantic Universe.
- 1:49Speaker 1: That's how they all came together. Now at twenty eleven,
- 1:51Speaker 1: they all had this idea thinking not the typical. They
- 1:54Speaker 1: wan't think about rap music. They weren't thinking about it.
- 1:57Speaker 1: They talk about the paranormal. Ghosts named seeked it out
- 2:00Speaker 1: and they got discovered. So please working the money making conversation.
- 2:03Speaker 1: They are the ghost brothers. Day Les Pratt, you want
- 2:06Speaker 1: mass and Marcus Harvey welcome brothers, man, and not to
- 2:12Speaker 1: not to cut you off, but we did try rapping first.
- 2:15Speaker 1: We definitely did. I was called Big Drill. I'll just
- 2:21Speaker 1: tell you nothing, nothing, And I was not Spinderella. Don't
- 2:31Speaker 1: get it twisted. Okay, okay, I was the real part
- 2:35Speaker 1: of the group. Come on, now, that was a fail
- 2:37Speaker 1: old venture. What you don't do on my show, man,
- 2:39Speaker 1: this money made a conversation talk about faild ventures. Now
- 2:42Speaker 1: y'all weren't rapping. All I know is the success of
- 2:45Speaker 1: what y'all doing. Now, your HBCU graduates tendees, you have
- 2:49Speaker 1: the HBCU experience, and we all know that for some
- 2:52Speaker 1: reason the world has discovered HBCU, especially in with that revelation.
- 2:58Speaker 1: You know that pride. I just interview my man Kenny
- 3:01Speaker 1: Leon and also see you graduate and then so many more.
- 3:05Speaker 1: What type of pride and number of each one of
- 3:08Speaker 1: you can respond to this individually? Want to get each
- 3:10Speaker 1: one of your response about the hbc you experience and
- 3:13Speaker 1: also what it has meant to your life moving forward. Yeah,
- 3:16Speaker 1: I know for me, Daylan uh HBC. The h b
- 3:20Speaker 1: CU experienced literally changed my life. So when I graduated
- 3:23Speaker 1: high school, Shoe Clark was the only college it was
- 3:26Speaker 1: like willing to listen to me, and they actually gave
- 3:29Speaker 1: me a scholarship. Man, So they not only provided me
- 3:32Speaker 1: a way to get to college, it's shaped and manufactured
- 3:35Speaker 1: my life because I was able to move to Atlanta
- 3:37Speaker 1: from Dallas, Texas and see a whole bunch of people
- 3:40Speaker 1: that look like me, my same age, making entrepreneurial moves.
- 3:45Speaker 1: So up until the end, I'm looking at trying to
- 3:47Speaker 1: get a job. But then when I get to college,
- 3:48Speaker 1: I see people eighteen nineteen years old, what they on
- 3:51Speaker 1: clothing line, uh, starting on record, label promotion company, just
- 3:56Speaker 1: all types of companies started by young minorities. And that's
- 3:59Speaker 1: inspired my whole entrepreneurial spirit. And that's when you try
- 4:03Speaker 1: to do wrap. That's when I tried to wrap. I
- 4:05Speaker 1: tried you try to get back full circles. The origin
- 4:09Speaker 1: story party promoting. It was one of the two uh
- 4:16Speaker 1: Man HBC experience was something that was just always brained
- 4:21Speaker 1: in me. UH. My mother went to an HBC U
- 4:25Speaker 1: UH and so I was able to always go back
- 4:27Speaker 1: to campus with her and that's where I finally saw
- 4:31Speaker 1: like this family culture at these historically black colleges and universities.
- 4:36Speaker 1: Uh I went and when saw visit, when visited clark
- 4:39Speaker 1: Land University, and like I was convinced at that point,
- 4:43Speaker 1: Like I got to clark and, like Dylan said, you
- 4:46Speaker 1: see a bunch of like minded individuals and you see
- 4:50Speaker 1: people that look like you, and you're uh and you're
- 4:52Speaker 1: like blown away by like this higher institution of education
- 4:56Speaker 1: and you're like this is this and it feels like home.
- 4:59Speaker 1: Like it's not overly, it's not too big, Like you
- 5:02Speaker 1: can still have a personal connection with the with the staff,
- 5:06Speaker 1: um and like you can still get this this education.
- 5:09Speaker 1: But it's empowering blacks to to extrive for excellence. And
- 5:13Speaker 1: I think that's what like really captivated me about that university,
- 5:16Speaker 1: clark Atlanta specifically cool. Uh market's telling me about your experience.
- 5:21Speaker 1: So my brother actually attended and graduated from more House College,
- 5:25Speaker 1: and uh I actually wanted to go to more House
- 5:28Speaker 1: and actually didn't get attempted. That's all right, because now
- 5:32Speaker 1: that means that I'm a free agent to get an
- 5:35Speaker 1: honorary degree from any HBCU that I won't now that
- 5:39Speaker 1: we are at success and a historically black situation, you know,
- 5:43Speaker 1: with us being the Ghost Brothers, the first parananormal you know,
- 5:46Speaker 1: investigation team out there. I think that any any HBC
- 5:50Speaker 1: you wants to get me down. But the way that
- 5:52Speaker 1: I met my bros is um, actually, you know, I
- 5:54Speaker 1: still was connected to the campus. I was affiliated with
- 5:58Speaker 1: the a UC gods required and I used to start
- 6:00Speaker 1: cutting hair and um, I actually started cutting Dylan's hair,
- 6:03Speaker 1: and then you know, eventually started meeting Juan and then
- 6:06Speaker 1: it just the rest is history. Okay, so you could
- 6:10Speaker 1: you you're a barber by trade, I'm assuming right, Yes, sir,
- 6:14Speaker 1: they say a celebrity barber. So what is the what
- 6:16Speaker 1: is an unknown barber versus the celebrity barber? Marcus, please
- 6:20Speaker 1: explain that to my listeners and views. Well for me,
- 6:23Speaker 1: well for me specifically, I'm a celebrity who is a barber.
- 6:27Speaker 1: I don't know about other celebrity barbers because they're not famous.
- 6:30Speaker 1: I mean, I'm famous for hunting ghosts and I cut hair,
- 6:33Speaker 1: So celebrity barber, you know, but uh no, not more
- 6:37Speaker 1: so more so than not. My client telligence filled with
- 6:40Speaker 1: a whole bunch of celebrities from Nas Grand Hill, Chris Webber,
- 6:44Speaker 1: Damian Lillard, Clay Thompson, Steph Curry, Lebron Um I've cut
- 6:49Speaker 1: on television shows Dayless, Pratt, Juwan Jowan Mask. You keep
- 6:55Speaker 1: it looking, keep it, keep it feel like keeping people.
- 6:59Speaker 1: Keeping people that you see in the regular basis because
- 7:00Speaker 1: you don't see the Lebron and Steph Curry on regularly.
- 7:03Speaker 1: Keep you the famous trio that you roll with. Now,
- 7:07Speaker 1: listen these guys you see us on the episode. You
- 7:09Speaker 1: see how fresh these boys be. That because me, okay,
- 7:14Speaker 1: that's really important because I can't cut hair. I remember
- 7:17Speaker 1: when I pledge, because I know we got a couple
- 7:19Speaker 1: of I'm making aside five member, proud member of that
- 7:22Speaker 1: as your guys are proud members of Cape Year. We're
- 7:27Speaker 1: all good. We're all good now. But because I remember
- 7:29Speaker 1: my friend brother trying to get me the cut hair
- 7:32Speaker 1: that was and I messed up the line. And you know,
- 7:34Speaker 1: if you mess up a line on them, brother, as
- 7:36Speaker 1: you pledge it, that wasn't a good night for this
- 7:39Speaker 1: young brother as a pledgey. So I respect you, Marcus
- 7:42Speaker 1: more than you will ever know. You skill because the mustache,
- 7:48Speaker 1: that's that Scotty from the Whispers mustache. So I know
- 7:51Speaker 1: you've got strong brother, I know you've got a good hand. Love.
- 7:54Speaker 1: Now let's talk about this series. Okay, ghost brothers. Now,
- 7:59Speaker 1: how did this idea of paranormals paranormal um seekers are
- 8:06Speaker 1: trying to find ghost How did that pop into you
- 8:09Speaker 1: guys mind? And how had to become part of the
- 8:11Speaker 1: process because I read this started on YouTube. Yeah, so
- 8:15Speaker 1: me and ju One was actually roommates at the time.
- 8:17Speaker 1: Then I tell people all the time, and you gotta
- 8:18Speaker 1: think outside the box. If everybody's doing something, then you
- 8:22Speaker 1: need to turn the other way. And so I literally
- 8:25Speaker 1: woke up one night about three o'clock in the morning
- 8:27Speaker 1: and one of the ghost hunting shows was just randomly
- 8:29Speaker 1: on TV, and I remember thinking to myself. I was like,
- 8:32Speaker 1: I don't never see any representation of myself on any
- 8:36Speaker 1: one of these shows. Why is it only white folks
- 8:38Speaker 1: hunting ghost? I mean, every race, religion, creed, culture dies.
- 8:43Speaker 1: It ain't just white folks. So what happens to us
- 8:46Speaker 1: when we pass away? And I grew up in the church.
- 8:49Speaker 1: My mom was a pastor, and I've always been taking man.
- 8:51Speaker 1: You know, you don't play with the church. You don't
- 8:54Speaker 1: play with ghosts. You don't play with any of that.
- 8:56Speaker 1: Like it's either God and angels and everything else is
- 8:59Speaker 1: the devil, right right, right right? Yeah? Yeah, And so
- 9:02Speaker 1: literally I ran into the one's room man at three
- 9:05Speaker 1: in the morning, was like, bro, I feel like we
- 9:07Speaker 1: need to hunt ghosts. Let he run into your mind,
- 9:14Speaker 1: into your room talking about ghost hunt. Now you knew
- 9:16Speaker 1: he wasn't thinking straight at that point. Well when did
- 9:19Speaker 1: it really become a reality check for you that this
- 9:21Speaker 1: could be a good idea? Honestly? Just overnight? Like I
- 9:25Speaker 1: literally kicked him out of my room, went back to sleep,
- 9:27Speaker 1: woke up the next morning it was and it was
- 9:29Speaker 1: still on my mind. I was like, bro, we gotta
- 9:31Speaker 1: do this. And when you say we got to do that,
- 9:33Speaker 1: because I gotta duo and Marcus, you know, the celebrity barber.
- 9:38Speaker 1: Before he was a celebrity barber, he was just a
- 9:40Speaker 1: sidekick barber. How did y'all get him in the loop now?
- 9:43Speaker 1: You know, because he's commented relief when I watched the show,
- 9:45Speaker 1: you know, Yeah, so I've been knowing Marcus for years
- 9:49Speaker 1: that he was cutting everybody's hair and just knowing his personality,
- 9:52Speaker 1: Marcus was doing stand up comingy around the time, and
- 9:55Speaker 1: he was just a really, really funny guy. And I
- 9:57Speaker 1: just knew that going into this, you know, going into television,
- 10:01Speaker 1: you gotta have that breath of fresh air. And Marcus
- 10:05Speaker 1: was the perfect Kennedy and the fact that he had
- 10:07Speaker 1: no background and paranormal stuff just like we did, it
- 10:10Speaker 1: was just a perfect storm to create. Now, let let's
- 10:14Speaker 1: talk about this bar because you know, okay, again you
- 10:19Speaker 1: cut their hair. Okay, crazy ideas are crazy ideas, over
- 10:23Speaker 1: the top ideas, over the top of ideas. Was it
- 10:25Speaker 1: much convincing you to roll with the brothers into this
- 10:29Speaker 1: for paranormal ghost Hunting World? Not necessarily because I mean this, okay,
- 10:37Speaker 1: this is two parts. No, because I know every idea
- 10:41Speaker 1: that Damon and Jowan come up with is typically successful
- 10:44Speaker 1: because we are kind of like a success cluster prior
- 10:47Speaker 1: to us getting on with um, you know, Discovery, Um,
- 10:51Speaker 1: so we were always always like, you know, kind of
- 10:54Speaker 1: collaborate with ideas, you know, prior to this, uh, this project.
- 10:58Speaker 1: So I knew the idea was good. But then, like
- 11:00Speaker 1: you said before, you know, black Posts. The only ghost
- 11:02Speaker 1: that I was really comfortable with was the Holy Coacht
- 11:05Speaker 1: because we don't really you know, deal with the mother ghost,
- 11:07Speaker 1: you know what I'm saying. So that's the only ghost
- 11:09Speaker 1: that I was really prepared for, and and as and
- 11:14Speaker 1: that was the only like asitency that I had, Like
- 11:16Speaker 1: I didn't want to do any demonic things. We were
- 11:19Speaker 1: sure that we wouldn't, and we just kind of kept
- 11:21Speaker 1: a paranormal. So you know, since then, you know, it's
- 11:23Speaker 1: kind of stretched out a little bit more and more.
- 11:26Speaker 1: You know, they keep getting me out there further and
- 11:28Speaker 1: further on that diving board and like, yeah, just jump,
- 11:30Speaker 1: and I'm like, hey, bro, chill out, man, I'm still
- 11:32Speaker 1: cutting there and I don't know, I ain't trying to
- 11:34Speaker 1: bring that over nobody. Let me ask you this market.
- 11:37Speaker 1: I don't know if you remember this first conversation we had, man,
- 11:40Speaker 1: I remember exactly where I was and you told me
- 11:43Speaker 1: you was like, man, I don't know, man, because I
- 11:45Speaker 1: don't know if I want to be known as a
- 11:46Speaker 1: ghost hunter man, like duh, Because I was like, bro,
- 11:52Speaker 1: what does that go look like? You know? You good
- 11:57Speaker 1: brother dude over there, and like, uh, yeah, we didn't know.
- 12:02Speaker 1: We at the beginning, we didn't know if this show
- 12:03Speaker 1: was gonna be like either you know, and we're talking
- 12:06Speaker 1: with c AU. We didn't know that we're going to
- 12:09Speaker 1: another network. You know, we don't know if they're gonna
- 12:11Speaker 1: try to play us like we some on some like
- 12:13Speaker 1: Hucky Buck type stuff, and we ain't trying to be
- 12:15Speaker 1: on that type of you know situation if we're gonna
- 12:17Speaker 1: have if we're gonna be portrayed in the correct light.
- 12:20Speaker 1: So I was massively hesitant, like I mean, And there
- 12:23Speaker 1: was even another show that kind of was like mirrored
- 12:26Speaker 1: us that kind of went a little bit more on
- 12:28Speaker 1: that direction that was just like, you know, outside of
- 12:31Speaker 1: the way of like just a natural feel of like
- 12:33Speaker 1: just curiosity for the paranormal and was more so looking
- 12:37Speaker 1: at it like a joke. So when I saw that,
- 12:39Speaker 1: when when Dayla and Juwan approached me with the idea,
- 12:43Speaker 1: yes it was, it sounded brilliant because one like I've
- 12:45Speaker 1: noticed that anytime there's a market this wide open, we're
- 12:48Speaker 1: able to set the market as the only one in
- 12:51Speaker 1: that thing. So it was just brilliant in the sense
- 12:53Speaker 1: that there was nobody, there's no competing you know, um brands.
- 12:58Speaker 1: We were able to set the market, we were able
- 13:00Speaker 1: to set our own way and just be able to
- 13:03Speaker 1: be um moved into a like a dope little situation
- 13:07Speaker 1: that we have now with spinoffs. Well, here's the thing
- 13:09Speaker 1: about it. I'm just telling you, guys, I'm from a
- 13:11Speaker 1: professional standpoint because I've watched the show, and I watched
- 13:14Speaker 1: they send me screeners of the upcoming season lights out.
- 13:17Speaker 1: I enjoyed. Can nobody do what you guys do? Okay, nobody.
- 13:20Speaker 1: Don't even worry about somebody's trying to emulate because each
- 13:24Speaker 1: one of your characters are unique and they have credibility
- 13:28Speaker 1: to it. And like you said, you know, you're not
- 13:30Speaker 1: running around there go oh lord, who Lord, Lord, look
- 13:32Speaker 1: on that bugging your eyes out like you know Buck
- 13:35Speaker 1: Wheat went back in the twenties. And third, you're not
- 13:37Speaker 1: doing that, you know, you guys are you know you
- 13:40Speaker 1: did jump in that bathtub though you got in that
- 13:42Speaker 1: bathtub though, you know with the water you floating, you're
- 13:45Speaker 1: flowing that mark, you're flowing there. But uh, But the
- 13:48Speaker 1: good thing about is like each one of y'all, it's
- 13:50Speaker 1: it's a cool set up. And the way the series
- 13:52Speaker 1: works is you know, Daylan, you like the you like
- 13:55Speaker 1: the instigator. You know, you leave your brothers in in
- 13:58Speaker 1: a blind situation a situation, and and and Jawan, you
- 14:02Speaker 1: know he always like a go head, go get her.
- 14:05Speaker 1: And then Marcus he always hesitant. But like Jawan, your
- 14:08Speaker 1: characters like, let's go see what's going on. Marcus just
- 14:12Speaker 1: like I don't know, I really don't know. But then
- 14:15Speaker 1: come on and then Daylan, I'm waiting the truck and
- 14:18Speaker 1: check y'all out. Jawan, you're you're go getter. What made
- 14:22Speaker 1: you buy into that character? Because people go because you know,
- 14:25Speaker 1: be when everybody would call a food here, food here, food,
- 14:27Speaker 1: Why are you going in there? You don't hit something
- 14:29Speaker 1: bad go on on there? Because you know, black people
- 14:31Speaker 1: talk to their t vs. Black people talk to the
- 14:33Speaker 1: movie screens. So you Wan talk about buying into that
- 14:35Speaker 1: character because I know, crazy man Marcus, he got a
- 14:39Speaker 1: Black Lives matter going into a jail. I know where
- 14:42Speaker 1: he's coming from. Talk about your character, ja Wan, Right,
- 14:48Speaker 1: my character is not really a character more so just
- 14:50Speaker 1: a reflection of like my character in real life. And
- 14:53Speaker 1: it's just about loyalty. Um, and I'm here to have
- 14:55Speaker 1: my brothers back in any in any situation that I
- 14:58Speaker 1: can with this ghost stuff. Um, you're just seeing me
- 15:01Speaker 1: being as courageous as possible, but I'm terrified. I am terrified.
- 15:05Speaker 1: Brother Are you really? Are you really afraid? Because you
- 15:08Speaker 1: always show up at night? Now you know, which is always? Like? Okay, brothers,
- 15:12Speaker 1: can you can go by period? It's finally here the
- 15:18Speaker 1: season of celebration. And no matter how you celebrate with

- 15:54Speaker 1: is donating eight million dollars to local nonprofits nationwide committed
- 15:58Speaker 1: to the health and well being of our communities. No

- 16:55Speaker 1: We've all felt left out, and for some that feeling

- 17:25Speaker 1: what you're walking into. Marketson do you want? You really
- 17:27Speaker 1: don't know. No, no clue at all, no clue. A
- 17:31Speaker 1: matter of fact, that was a point of contention um
- 17:34Speaker 1: in this production you know, just gott We've we've answered
- 17:37Speaker 1: these a million times questions or whatnot, but like this
- 17:40Speaker 1: is something a little bit different. Like it was like
- 17:42Speaker 1: because we've done this before in many different shows and
- 17:45Speaker 1: we know how to like investigate, you know what I'm saying,
- 17:48Speaker 1: But this production crew was just you know, like, yo,
- 17:51Speaker 1: let's trust us in this situation and see about and
- 17:54Speaker 1: see about um, you know, letting daily just throw you
- 17:57Speaker 1: guys in their blind and you know, typically we like me,
- 18:00Speaker 1: Dylan and Juan were very like interactive when it comes
- 18:03Speaker 1: to ideas, when it comes to um investigating styles, when
- 18:07Speaker 1: it comes to like you know how we're gonna like,
- 18:10Speaker 1: you know, provoke whatever we need to provoke to kind
- 18:12Speaker 1: of get any type of response. And this is just
- 18:15Speaker 1: a totally different show because like you know, Dylan was
- 18:17Speaker 1: just one. He don't even know how to read a map.
- 18:20Speaker 1: So just to have somebody send you somewhere who holding
- 18:22Speaker 1: the map upside down? You didn't talk about go left,
- 18:25Speaker 1: I mean right left right? Come on dog. And then Juan,
- 18:29Speaker 1: you know, like you said, Juan makes me have to
- 18:31Speaker 1: get courageous because like I ain't playing that stuff was
- 18:35Speaker 1: like all right, let's go. And I'm like, dang, bro,
- 18:37Speaker 1: I can't look like no pump in front of Juwan
- 18:39Speaker 1: and Dylan out there cold, you know what I'm saying.
- 18:41Speaker 1: So you know, like you said, you wanna actually be
- 18:43Speaker 1: pulling us to do the He's the one that go okay,
- 18:47Speaker 1: really do really? Do you know? Black people get killing?
- 18:51Speaker 1: Black people do get killing hard movie? Now, Dayla, let's
- 18:54Speaker 1: go back to your character. You know, Mr Stay in
- 18:55Speaker 1: the truck. Mr Stay in the truck and reveal us
- 18:59Speaker 1: the dangers suation that they may be walking into. So
- 19:02Speaker 1: ultimately they have to trust you because you know the
- 19:05Speaker 1: set up from a standpoint of what they can be
- 19:07Speaker 1: walking into you. So you have to protect them from
- 19:10Speaker 1: any silly pitches. You know, let's have some water hit
- 19:13Speaker 1: them or or some or some trapdoors. Does that come
- 19:16Speaker 1: up in conversation? You go, No, they're not gonna do that.
- 19:19Speaker 1: How much involved with you with the pre production of
- 19:22Speaker 1: what they're walking into? Daylight? Uh, We're really really hands
- 19:26Speaker 1: off from the beginning because I mean, I think everybody
- 19:28Speaker 1: that works with us knows where we stand and where
- 19:31Speaker 1: we draw the line. So before we even started those Brothers,
- 19:34Speaker 1: we were people at home watching these shows, wondering if
- 19:36Speaker 1: this stuff was really real, and we always say that
- 19:39Speaker 1: we ever were blessed with the opportunity. We don't want
- 19:41Speaker 1: to fake anything like. We want to make sure whatever
- 19:43Speaker 1: is happening, it's real time happening. So we make sure
- 19:46Speaker 1: with the production company that we're not for you know,
- 19:49Speaker 1: don't be trying to prank the one in markets. Don't
- 19:51Speaker 1: be trying to make things happen to get reactions from them.
- 19:53Speaker 1: That's not what we're here for. And we will walk
- 19:55Speaker 1: off it's something like that ever happens. So sway, my
- 20:02Speaker 1: job is really just the measure that my guys are
- 20:05Speaker 1: safe on the inside. You know what I'm saying. They
- 20:06Speaker 1: gotta trust me, you know what I'm saying that my
- 20:08Speaker 1: fingers are ready to call now when one of the
- 20:10Speaker 1: things get a little bit. But but you'll know what
- 20:13Speaker 1: he said, you want And Marco he's he's ready to call.
- 20:17Speaker 1: He didn't say run in. He see right now, right now.
- 20:22Speaker 1: Ya gotta watch him now. Okay, he told y'all exactly,
- 20:26Speaker 1: My brothers are being eaten by ghosts. Come soon, let
- 20:31Speaker 1: me explain what's going on. He didn't say I'm running
- 20:33Speaker 1: in with a fire sting which you're running in with
- 20:35Speaker 1: a gun. I'm running in with more white people to
- 20:37Speaker 1: save y'all. I'm a call like like that little white
- 20:40Speaker 1: dud in the episode get Out, Get Out, Get Out. Now. Wow,
- 20:46Speaker 1: you know, let's let's go back to this whole scenario.
- 20:49Speaker 1: Because you guys are three visionaries. I'm gonna just put
- 20:51Speaker 1: it out there like that, because, like I said, you
- 20:53Speaker 1: trusted your natural interestincts in twenty and leven, you know,
- 20:56Speaker 1: you guys started to hunt ghosts. Because the reason I'm
- 20:59Speaker 1: saying that because right now you got a Discovery calling
- 21:03Speaker 1: people letting them know y'all coming. So there's a agree
- 21:06Speaker 1: of respect and authority that is tied to that. In
- 21:10Speaker 1: the early days, y'all were just black dudes coming there
- 21:14Speaker 1: with an idea. How did y'all develop that idea and
- 21:17Speaker 1: also develop credibility with your early ghost honey. So it's funny.
- 21:22Speaker 1: All three of us actually worked behind the scenes and
- 21:25Speaker 1: television before we got in front of the camera, so
- 21:28Speaker 1: we all part of them. It's about p a s,
- 21:30Speaker 1: production assistance, running, getting water, close, all that type stuff.
- 21:34Speaker 1: So we had a respect for television and a work
- 21:37Speaker 1: ethic from day one. So we were watching how television
- 21:41Speaker 1: shows were being made on a day to day basis.
- 21:43Speaker 1: So when the idea came around, we already had the
- 21:46Speaker 1: vision of how to get it done, but we didn't
- 21:48Speaker 1: know how we were going to get it out. And
- 21:50Speaker 1: it's funny you say that, because once we finished, we
- 21:52Speaker 1: had this finish sizzle reel of black guys hunting ghoes.
- 21:56Speaker 1: We started taking meetings and back then we kept getting
- 21:58Speaker 1: the same too responsive. Black people don't hunt ghosts, So
- 22:02Speaker 1: where y'all gonna put the show at BT? Nah will pass?
- 22:06Speaker 1: Black people don't hunt ghosts, so white people ain't gonna
- 22:08Speaker 1: wanna watch y'all. So where y'all gonna put y'all any
- 22:11Speaker 1: nah will pass. So we just kept getting passed and
- 22:14Speaker 1: passed and passed. And it wasn't until about two thousand,
- 22:17Speaker 1: fifteen sixteen. I don't know if you're familiar or remember
- 22:20Speaker 1: the campaign Oscars So White. So that's when the media
- 22:24Speaker 1: where they were saying there were not enough minority television
- 22:26Speaker 1: shows getting recognition in mainstream media, and we were just
- 22:31Speaker 1: fortunate enough to be ushered along in that window, which
- 22:34Speaker 1: shows like Blackish, shows like Fresh off the Boat, So
- 22:38Speaker 1: all these minority lead driven shows we gotta just blessed
- 22:42Speaker 1: us to kind of just sent show in through that
- 22:44Speaker 1: window with ghost brothers, and man, it's Benna hit ever since.
- 22:48Speaker 1: But but let me let me not you didn't just sneaking.
- 22:51Speaker 1: You guys are talented, man, and like, yeah, you know
- 22:54Speaker 1: that's the thing with black poles, man, we gotta always
- 22:57Speaker 1: get in the door a different way, just to put
- 23:01Speaker 1: let me just tell you this, more talented than the counterport.
- 23:04Speaker 1: Let me just show you down Dalm because everybody got
- 23:06Speaker 1: to get in, Okay, everybody got to get in. And
- 23:09Speaker 1: that's what that's why I wanted to say here my
- 23:10Speaker 1: compliment to you, all three of you guys, you cannot
- 23:13Speaker 1: be replicated. You cannot be duplicated. Okay, you guys are
- 23:17Speaker 1: smart own screen, you're smart off camera. Okay. I see
- 23:21Speaker 1: there's a storyline. Like I would telling Marcus earlier prior
- 23:24Speaker 1: to the interview, is that there's always a wrap up,
- 23:28Speaker 1: a wrap wrap up tied to logic and so so
- 23:31Speaker 1: it's not like you know, it might you know, the
- 23:33Speaker 1: concept sounds kind of like, oh, black guys hunting ghosts,
- 23:37Speaker 1: you know, but then you go through the process. You
- 23:39Speaker 1: got the equipment and and then you and then you
- 23:43Speaker 1: developed the scenarios, you set the storyline in place. Because
- 23:46Speaker 1: all your storylines that you set up that they're walking into,
- 23:49Speaker 1: I'm worried about these brothers. I am actually worried about
- 23:52Speaker 1: these brothers because you said some crazy stuff here. You
- 23:55Speaker 1: know what I'm saying. And then I'm gonna tell watch
- 23:58Speaker 1: the episode. I'm not gonna tell y'all nothing to about
- 24:00Speaker 1: the storylines. All I know is that Daylan need his
- 24:03Speaker 1: behind who let this boys walk into these environments? And
- 24:06Speaker 1: he and he said, why you the first person seeing
- 24:09Speaker 1: now listen, bro, he need his buff whoop because he yeah,
- 24:14Speaker 1: he said bye bye. I was sitting and wait out here,
- 24:17Speaker 1: you know, in the truck or the van or another
- 24:20Speaker 1: somewhere comfortable, somewhere comfortable, probably arouse some white people eating.
- 24:26Speaker 1: That's why didn't eat y'all in this Hunted There was
- 24:32Speaker 1: one time though, There was one time where he was
- 24:34Speaker 1: outside of the lighthouse, huh, and he was getting taught
- 24:37Speaker 1: by the mosquitoes. And I was like, surgery, right, I
- 24:42Speaker 1: love it. I love it, I love it, I love it.
- 24:45Speaker 1: I was like, yeah, buddy, like when the rabbit got
- 24:49Speaker 1: the gun. Baby. Now, sometimes he's events or last more
- 24:54Speaker 1: than one day. What's the whole process of you go
- 24:57Speaker 1: in and then you're gonna go back? You on, come on, really,
- 25:00Speaker 1: don't get you got in, you got out. Honestly, if
- 25:04Speaker 1: it wasn't for having to like connect the dots on
- 25:07Speaker 1: the story, I'm really cool with a one day investigation,
- 25:10Speaker 1: but we need to go back and see what we
- 25:12Speaker 1: just saw. Um. The way it's set up, Man, it
- 25:15Speaker 1: takes a week to do an entire episode. Wow. Yeah,
- 25:19Speaker 1: So we'll get there the first night. We're typically doing
- 25:22Speaker 1: baseline investigation. So that's where we pull up to the spot. Uh,
- 25:26Speaker 1: Daln knows the location, Marcus and I don't know anything.
- 25:29Speaker 1: That's what we have our our fire like notorious pop
- 25:32Speaker 1: the trunk scene. We get out and we hit the location,
- 25:36Speaker 1: We investigate, we pull all the evidence together where we
- 25:40Speaker 1: find we share with Dalen. Dalen then feels us in
- 25:43Speaker 1: on all the stuff that Um he knew, and so
- 25:46Speaker 1: now we're connecting these pieces, you know what I mean? Uh,
- 25:49Speaker 1: And then we have another investigation later on, and that's
- 25:52Speaker 1: to kind of tie to all the whole episode together
- 25:55Speaker 1: with some of the previous claims and history of UH
- 25:58Speaker 1: surrounding the place. Man um and it all comes together
- 26:02Speaker 1: over a week's time. Uh. We then we we sit
- 26:05Speaker 1: down with whoever is like the owner or somebody who's
- 26:09Speaker 1: having issues with the location, and we provide them with
- 26:11Speaker 1: the clarity or answers to questions that they've been looking for. Um.
- 26:14Speaker 1: And that's that like that wrap up that you're talking about,
- 26:16Speaker 1: you know what I mean? We have that that that
- 26:19Speaker 1: logical conclusion and we don't necessarily say we have all
- 26:23Speaker 1: the answers, but we do want to give you some
- 26:24Speaker 1: some clarity or maybe we'll tell you, like bro, it's
- 26:27Speaker 1: just doing the Hauntett like we like you might want
- 26:30Speaker 1: to put that on the market like or you might
- 26:32Speaker 1: want to you might want to split that rent up
- 26:33Speaker 1: because your beauty and life heyy Daylan and you know
- 26:43Speaker 1: Jawan and Marcus the famous come you guys way because
- 26:47Speaker 1: of this, you know, and that fame is always interesting
- 26:49Speaker 1: because you don't know how people react to that fame,
- 26:52Speaker 1: you know. So I know being your your barbera Marcus,
- 26:54Speaker 1: uh hasn't helped your your clientele and help your role.
- 26:58Speaker 1: Because I want each one of you guys to explain
- 27:00Speaker 1: this how this ghost Buster fame, a ghost Brothers fame,
- 27:04Speaker 1: excuse me, has possibly impacted your careers and where we
- 27:07Speaker 1: go from here starting with you dayla uh Man. To
- 27:11Speaker 1: be completely honest, I don't feel like we're famous, man.
- 27:15Speaker 1: I feel like our demographic of people that watched the
- 27:17Speaker 1: show our Middle America, and I feel like on our
- 27:21Speaker 1: every day we don't just get noticed walking about and
- 27:25Speaker 1: people running up to us like you would think and
- 27:27Speaker 1: with most TV shows. So I feel like we still
- 27:29Speaker 1: get to have that little bit of an amenity with
- 27:32Speaker 1: uh you know, which is our lives, which is super dope.
- 27:35Speaker 1: But what it has done is just opened up a
- 27:38Speaker 1: level of conversation for us because genuinely, it's not a
- 27:41Speaker 1: room that we can't walk into that once they figure
- 27:43Speaker 1: out what we do that we don't automatically become the
- 27:46Speaker 1: most interesting person in the room. It don't matter if
- 27:48Speaker 1: President Obama is in there, they're gonna be like, damn,
- 27:51Speaker 1: we voted for you, but they ain't da what you say?
- 27:53Speaker 1: You saw that crazy? Like it's always hey day, Uh
- 28:01Speaker 1: what what you what you see in the White House?
- 28:06Speaker 1: Jan talk to me man, Uh, It's real. Like Dylan
- 28:11Speaker 1: had a really good point, like we don't get recognized
- 28:13Speaker 1: on a day to day basis. Uh So when we're
- 28:16Speaker 1: out in public. It's rare that somebody's like, oh my god,
- 28:19Speaker 1: that's Jawanna as day Lass Markets from the Ghost Brothers.
- 28:22Speaker 1: And so I'm still hit with like surprises and I'm
- 28:25Speaker 1: really humbled when that does happen, you know what I mean. Um,
- 28:29Speaker 1: And it's like, I guess I appreciate the fact that,
- 28:32Speaker 1: like we haven't been catapulted into like stardom, and it's
- 28:36Speaker 1: almost like we have the ability to kind of ease
- 28:38Speaker 1: our way into it and get you comfortable with undersett
- 28:40Speaker 1: accepting this celebrity that you have, right because like we
- 28:43Speaker 1: can't negate the fact that yes, there is a certain
- 28:46Speaker 1: celebrity status that comes with what we're doing. But this
- 28:49Speaker 1: time that we're having allows me to accept it and
- 28:52Speaker 1: be human and be human and humble about what it is,
- 28:55Speaker 1: you know what I mean. Like a lot of times
- 28:57Speaker 1: it can go to somebody's head when they get famous,
- 28:59Speaker 1: and I think the re of us being in television
- 29:01Speaker 1: and film in our past and not being catapulted in
- 29:05Speaker 1: the stardom as allowing us to really accept that and
- 29:08Speaker 1: understand what what it means to have that platform now. Markets,
- 29:11Speaker 1: I know it went to your head, look at that
- 29:13Speaker 1: head big. It's growing in that it's all that cap
- 29:16Speaker 1: and can't fit no more. I told y'all you said
- 29:19Speaker 1: that the group wasn't gonna be nothing until they got
- 29:21Speaker 1: David Ruffian. I'm just gonna be honest until they until
- 29:24Speaker 1: they had David ruff and they weren't gonna be the
- 29:26Speaker 1: nun no for real though, Um, what I think that
- 29:28Speaker 1: was dope about this is um as Dalen and Juwan
- 29:32Speaker 1: came up with this, It's like it's it's a lane
- 29:35Speaker 1: that we're not even in. So it automatically keeps you
- 29:38Speaker 1: humble because it's nothing that you are already good at
- 29:41Speaker 1: that you kind of like can have an arrogance about.
- 29:44Speaker 1: So it allows you to like really, um, look at
- 29:46Speaker 1: your life in a in a very holistic way and
- 29:49Speaker 1: and like really see what fame is, you know, because
- 29:52Speaker 1: even when I look at how we can go somewhere
- 29:54Speaker 1: and in a in a comic coun or some type
- 29:57Speaker 1: of place and and feel a little celebrity, We're like,
- 30:00Speaker 1: it's it's just for this, you know what I'm saying.
- 30:03Speaker 1: So it allows you to kind of even look at
- 30:04Speaker 1: every aspect of your life and just look at it
- 30:07Speaker 1: way more sober than you would normally, um, if it
- 30:10Speaker 1: was just something that just like hit America and just
- 30:12Speaker 1: blew all the way up and then we can't go
- 30:14Speaker 1: outside like we're a boy band or something like that.
- 30:17Speaker 1: You know, you know what I'm saying, And like Dally said,
- 30:21Speaker 1: our our demographic is you know, Middle America and we're
- 30:24Speaker 1: three brothers in Atlanta. So you know, because I'll just
- 30:29Speaker 1: tell you guys this, you know, that's what I do.
- 30:30Speaker 1: I build brands. I look at brands, I look at
- 30:32Speaker 1: I look at people, and I determine their success paths. Okay,
- 30:36Speaker 1: you know you guys should be doing a podcast. Y'all
- 30:38Speaker 1: should drift off into UFOs if you know they ever
- 30:40Speaker 1: thought that, because that's that's way doing you too. You
- 30:42Speaker 1: know that on it done as Black flying Objects, they
- 30:44Speaker 1: wait doing you. Okay and so, but you should have
- 30:47Speaker 1: a podcast right now. Okay. Also, the covide has kind
- 30:50Speaker 1: of slowed you guys down for live events. You know,
- 30:53Speaker 1: you guys can put on your own seriously, man, don't
- 30:56Speaker 1: worry about black people not knowing you that that ain't
- 30:58Speaker 1: where the real money at anyway, real money is is
- 31:01Speaker 1: in general market. That's what that's what has you on
- 31:03Speaker 1: TV right that general market has you on TV. You're
- 31:05Speaker 1: not on TV one, you're not on BT. Go to
- 31:08Speaker 1: your market. Strand you guys are special man, y'all tchicklate,
- 31:11Speaker 1: You're smart. I know your entrepreneurs. I'm just telling you
- 31:14Speaker 1: something that I know is that your greatness is tied
- 31:17Speaker 1: to who you guys are, y'all individually, tied to your
- 31:19Speaker 1: own success. I know that you will be super big
- 31:24Speaker 1: one because they're coming out of this COVID Plan for Man,
- 31:27Speaker 1: plan for the fall. That's when the checks are gonna roll.
- 31:30Speaker 1: Plan to know that these live events are waiting on
- 31:32Speaker 1: you guys. Get your podcast, man, Please, get y'all the
- 31:35Speaker 1: podcast so y'all can tell your stories so I can
- 31:38Speaker 1: own that market, get a big contract from Spotify, Spotify,
- 31:42Speaker 1: somebody like that. Okay, yes, and you know what's funny now,
- 31:48Speaker 1: say the same thing markets that we've been putting that
- 31:50Speaker 1: into all KOVID. We've been doing a weekly zoom called
- 31:53Speaker 1: Ghost Brothers and Chill that allows the Fast to zoom
- 31:55Speaker 1: me and calls. So it's not just a podcast. It
- 31:58Speaker 1: allows the Fast to actually it real, to speak with us,
- 32:00Speaker 1: see us, you know us, getting get involved with them,
- 32:03Speaker 1: get close with them and events. Man We run our
- 32:06Speaker 1: Ghost Brothers weekend every Halloween weekend in Savannah. We've been
- 32:09Speaker 1: doing that for the past three or four years. We
- 32:11Speaker 1: keep that up every year, and yeah, man, we're rocketing. Rollers.
- 32:14Speaker 1: Were on the same page with good Gonna get youall
- 32:18Speaker 1: merch straight ghost dot com. What's you know? What I think?
- 32:23Speaker 1: Or send me some links so I can promote you.
- 32:25Speaker 1: I'm gonna put you in my newsletter. But more important that, man,
- 32:27Speaker 1: I'm just proud of you guys and just want to
- 32:28Speaker 1: let you know what I see a special. What I
- 32:30Speaker 1: see is unique and uh sitcoms with in your future
- 32:34Speaker 1: and whatever. I'm telling something about you three guys. Whatever
- 32:37Speaker 1: y'all want to do, y'all can do. Y'all young, y'all
- 32:38Speaker 1: look good in Hollywood. Is about the youth, okay, and
- 32:42Speaker 1: it's about your resume at what you're accomplished. I'm just
- 32:44Speaker 1: leting you know. You can do those zoom calls, but
- 32:46Speaker 1: check don't come with that. Checks come with YouTube, and
- 32:48Speaker 1: checks come with podcasts, and checks come with radio. So
- 32:52Speaker 1: I'm a man, that's why you want money making conversation.
- 32:54Speaker 1: I try to give advice to individuals. If you're gonna
- 32:56Speaker 1: spend your time on the zoom. Spend your time on
- 32:59Speaker 1: a podcast. You're gonna spend your time on the zoom.
- 33:01Speaker 1: Build your subscribers on your YouTube channel, because that's how
