- 0:01Speaker 1: As I was planning on taking the day off today
- 0:05Speaker 1: that all went to the wayside as we now have
- 0:07Speaker 1: seen what has happened in this horrific terrorist attack in
- 0:10Speaker 1: New Orleans. Sources there are saying that there was a
- 0:14Speaker 1: writing found that supports the view attack was inspired or
- 0:18Speaker 1: involved with ISIS. We also have been told now that
- 0:22Speaker 1: there are more than just the driver that are involved
- 0:27Speaker 1: in this attack in New Orleans. I want you to
- 0:30Speaker 1: hear the latest from CNN as they reported on the
- 0:34Speaker 1: FBI's recovered video showing not one, not two, but three
- 0:38Speaker 1: men and a woman who may have been involved in
- 0:41Speaker 1: placing improvise explosive devices in New Orleans.
- 0:46Speaker 2: Listen to this, as Evan, you've been breaking news on
- 0:50Speaker 2: this throughout the course of the day. You're getting new
- 0:52Speaker 2: information about the FBI's investigation into whether the suspect had helped.
- 0:56Speaker 2: What are you learning, well, the key question obviously is
- 0:58Speaker 2: the help the additional so that the FBI Assistant Special
- 1:02Speaker 2: Agent in charge was mentioning. And what we know at
- 1:05Speaker 2: this point, Phil, is that the FBI has a recovered
- 1:10Speaker 2: video surveillance video that appears to show three men and
- 1:15Speaker 2: one woman appearing to help put IEDs. What are believed
- 1:20Speaker 2: to be IED's at locations in the French Quarter. Now,
- 1:24Speaker 2: we heard from the FBI there that there were additional
- 1:26Speaker 2: potential explosives that were found during the search later this morning,
- 1:30Speaker 2: and they were rendered safe during the day today, and
- 1:34Speaker 2: so the surveillance video appears to show those people either
- 1:38Speaker 2: helping to put those devices there or being close by. Again,
- 1:41Speaker 2: that's part of this investigation now to find those people,
- 1:45Speaker 2: to ask them whether they were involved in some way
- 1:48Speaker 2: that they help build the explosives or were they just
- 1:52Speaker 2: you know, perhaps standing by. All of those things are
- 1:56Speaker 2: on the table for the FBI. The other thing that's
- 1:59Speaker 2: very key to this is, you know, the association with ISIS,
- 2:02Speaker 2: the idea that this person was inspired by a terrorist organization,
- 2:06Speaker 2: and what they found was some writings inside the truck,
- 2:10Speaker 2: perhaps on the person of this suspect that that appears
- 2:16Speaker 2: to suggest inspiration by ISIS. Again, that helps buttress the
- 2:22Speaker 2: viewed by law enforcement that this was a terrorist attack,
- 2:25Speaker 2: that this was something that was inspired by ISIS or
- 2:29Speaker 2: by terrorist organizations. Again, all of this is now part
- 2:32Speaker 2: of the investigation. The question of where this person got
- 2:36Speaker 2: their radicalization, how far back does that go. We know
- 2:40Speaker 2: that he is a former army member the US Army,
- 2:44Speaker 2: so you know how far back does that radicalization go.
- 2:48Speaker 2: We know he's from Houston. All of those places are
- 2:51Speaker 2: now being investigated, including locations in Houston as well as
- 2:55Speaker 2: locations in Louisiana where the suspect stayed before coming to
- 3:00Speaker 2: carry out this attack. All of those things now part
- 3:03Speaker 2: of this very broad investigation is going to be a
- 3:05Speaker 2: long time I think before we get a final answer
- 3:08Speaker 2: on everything that was involved here.
- 3:10Speaker 3: Yeah, it just seems to just create more questions at
- 3:12Speaker 3: this point on some level, given the fact that there's
- 3:14Speaker 3: looking at more people real quickly.
- 3:15Speaker 2: Well, I just want to add real quick I mean,
- 3:17Speaker 2: the idea that you have more than one person involved,
- 3:20Speaker 2: I think is a huge deal as far as an investigation,
- 3:24Speaker 2: because in the last few years, even in the era
- 3:27Speaker 2: of ISIS, what we've usually seen is lone wolf attacks.
- 3:31Speaker 2: We've covered so many of that of these you and
- 3:34Speaker 2: I and for you to have more than one person
- 3:38Speaker 2: involved typically is problematic for carrying out attacks because the
- 3:42Speaker 2: more people involved, the greater of the chance that the
- 3:45Speaker 2: law enforcement is going to find out something. So the
- 3:47Speaker 2: idea that they were able to carry this out more
- 3:49Speaker 2: than one person's involvement is a big, big part of this.
- 3:53Speaker 2: That's going to be very very hard for the FBI
- 3:55Speaker 2: to try to again figure out right revenue and.
- 3:57Speaker 3: The tim and doing great reporting all day.
- 3:58Speaker 4: Keep us posted as you learn more. Avian Paris, thanks
- 4:01Speaker 4: so much so.
- 4:02Speaker 1: That is what we have there now. We also the
- 4:04Speaker 1: FBI is now put on a new statements saying they
- 4:06Speaker 1: quote don't believe the driver in the crowd attack was
- 4:09Speaker 1: quote solely responsible. That is what we are being told now,
- 4:13Speaker 1: and we have some information about this attacker. The attacker
- 4:17Speaker 1: is a forty two year old US citizen from Texas.
- 4:21Speaker 1: He had an ISIS flag attached to the truck or
- 4:25Speaker 1: in the truck, maybe more than one flag. The FBI
- 4:28Speaker 1: is now saying that he's a forty two year old
- 4:31Speaker 1: US citizen from Texas, and there are reports that he
- 4:35Speaker 1: was actually had served in our US military. The suspect
- 4:41Speaker 1: as a man, and I don't want to use his
- 4:42Speaker 1: name just because I don't want people to feel like
- 4:45Speaker 1: when they do this they become famous. He is and
- 4:48Speaker 1: again this is new now coming from the FBI. I
- 4:51Speaker 1: want to be clear about this. This could change at
- 4:52Speaker 1: any moment. This is what we have right now. The
- 4:55Speaker 1: suspect is a forty two year old a US citizen
- 4:58Speaker 1: from Texas. He was having a Ford pickup truck which
- 5:01Speaker 1: appears to have been rented and FBI is working to
- 5:04Speaker 1: confirm how the subject came into possession of the vehicle.
- 5:07Speaker 1: An ISIS flag was located in the vehicle and the
- 5:09Speaker 1: FBI is working to determine the suspect's potential association associations
- 5:15Speaker 1: plural and affiliations with terrorist organizations. Weapons and a potential
- 5:21Speaker 1: IED were located in the subject's vehicle. Other potential IDs
- 5:29Speaker 1: were also located in the French quarter. Now, the photo
- 5:34Speaker 1: that has been released by of the Neworons attacker shows
- 5:37Speaker 1: the man by the name again I don't want to
- 5:39Speaker 1: use his name, but could it very easily have ties
- 5:43Speaker 1: to the Middle East based on what we are seeing
- 5:46Speaker 1: and apparently he left a note as well. New information
- 5:50Speaker 1: the man again named as the truck attacker was an
- 5:53Speaker 1: Army veteran that's now been confirmed who worked in real
- 5:56Speaker 1: estate and quote had financial troubles, So that is also
- 6:00Speaker 1: breaking right now as well on this. So that is
- 6:03Speaker 1: what we have. This is the latest on this now.
- 6:06Speaker 1: I say this the latest on this because there is
- 6:09Speaker 1: another potential terrorist attack. Police are investigating at the moment
- 6:14Speaker 1: a cyber truck explosion at the Trump Las Vegas Hotel.
- 6:19Speaker 1: They are treating it as a possible act of tear,
- 6:21Speaker 1: is what officials are saying. Before I get into this
- 6:25Speaker 1: Trump Tower potential attack, I want to also let you
- 6:28Speaker 1: know they have canceled the Sugar Bowl for tonight. That
- 6:32Speaker 1: was the game that was supposed to take place in
- 6:34Speaker 1: New Orleans, and that game intentively will be played twenty
- 6:38Speaker 1: four hours later tomorrow night. This dead urban street. We're
- 6:43Speaker 1: getting so much information about this individual, and we're gonna
- 6:47Speaker 1: give you more as it's coming in. But let's also
- 6:50Speaker 1: get to this other attack that we are finding out about,
- 6:54Speaker 1: and that is police are investigating a cyber truck explosion
- 6:58Speaker 1: at the Trump Las Vegas Hotel. Well, they have confirmed
- 7:01Speaker 1: now they are treating that as a possible act of terror.
- 7:05Speaker 1: Authorities investigating the side of the truck. Apparently it pulled
- 7:08Speaker 1: into the circle drive there at the Trump Las Vegas
- 7:11Speaker 1: Hotel in Nevada and then the truck exploded. The person
- 7:16Speaker 1: that was in that truck apparently was killed. The police
- 7:19Speaker 1: have been telling the public to avoid the area. The
- 7:22Speaker 1: driver pulled into the valet area of the hotel and
- 7:24Speaker 1: the vehicle then exploded. According to an official, the driver
- 7:28Speaker 1: is apparently dead and so far the only casually from
- 7:30Speaker 1: the incident. Seven bystanders had injuries. Minor injuries were being
- 7:35Speaker 1: told Elon Musk coming out as many on the internet
- 7:38Speaker 1: of course hate Elon Musk. That may be part of
- 7:40Speaker 1: the reason why cyber truck was used to attack him
- 7:44Speaker 1: because of his close ties to Donald Trump. And here
- 7:47Speaker 1: is what Elon Musk has just said in a statement.
- 7:49Speaker 1: Quote the whole Tesla senior team is investigating this matter
- 7:53Speaker 1: right now. We'll post more information as soon as we
- 7:56Speaker 1: learn anything. We've never seen anything like this, hight' he say,
- 8:00Speaker 1: We've never seen anything like this. He is referencing many
- 8:03Speaker 1: online that are trying to blame or claim that the
- 8:06Speaker 1: explosion was a lithium battery blast causing meaning the problem
- 8:12Speaker 1: was Elon Musk. Tesla. An official briefed on the investigation
- 8:18Speaker 1: has now confirmed, by the way to ABC News. Just
- 8:20Speaker 1: so that all the crazies can get shut down that quote,
- 8:24Speaker 1: this was not a lithium battery blast as some have
- 8:28Speaker 1: speculated online. The property is a subject of frequent threats
- 8:33Speaker 1: and heightened security given its connection to Trump, the Trump
- 8:35Speaker 1: Las Vegas Hotel, and Elon muss the see of Tesla
- 8:39Speaker 1: is a very close ally president like Donald Trump. In fact,
- 8:41Speaker 1: he was with President Trump saying next to him last
- 8:44Speaker 1: night at mar Lago Fort New Year's Eve. He is
- 8:47Speaker 1: also in charge of DOGE as you know, to cut
- 8:50Speaker 1: government waste. There's a lot of people that hate him.
- 8:53Speaker 1: They can't stand him, and that is why Elon Musk
- 8:55Speaker 1: said that the whole senior Tesla team has investigating the
- 8:59Speaker 1: matter right now. Authorities though coming out and briefing and
- 9:02Speaker 1: telling ABC News quote, this was not a lithium battery blast,
- 9:09Speaker 1: so this was obviously some sort of explosion slash terrorist attack.
- 9:13Speaker 1: Those are the two things there. Now, let me also
- 9:16Speaker 1: tell you something else that is coming out. The cyber
- 9:19Speaker 1: truck that could exploit in front of Trump and National
- 9:21Speaker 1: Las Vegas was rented, We're being told from Turo. So
- 9:25Speaker 1: that is a rental service where you rent a car
- 9:27Speaker 1: from individuals. We're now being told now that it was
- 9:31Speaker 1: rented from Turo. Law enforcement sources are now saying to
- 9:35Speaker 1: the media the F one fifty used in New Orleans
- 9:39Speaker 1: attack was also rented from Turo. Is there a connection
- 9:43Speaker 1: between these two rentals. We don't know, but apparently we're
- 9:47Speaker 1: now being told and this could change. I'm giving the
- 9:50Speaker 1: best information I have right now that both of these attackers'
- 9:53Speaker 1: cars were nice cars that were rented from Turo. Quote.
- 9:57Speaker 1: While the terrorists plotted, Joe Biden and his administration persecuted
- 10:04Speaker 1: the BS cases of real Donald Trump and allowed millions
- 10:09Speaker 1: in through the open southern border, including thousands of terraces.
- 10:13Speaker 1: There needs to be an accounting, and it's coming January
- 10:16Speaker 1: the twentieth. That is what one person just posted online
- 10:20Speaker 1: right now, a wounded combat veteran and a man who
- 10:24Speaker 1: is a GEOPEO political strategist saying, this is what you
- 10:27Speaker 1: get when you're not paying attention to what's actually happening
- 10:30Speaker 1: in the world. I can't disagree with that. I want
- 10:33Speaker 1: to be very clear. I think there's a lot of
- 10:35Speaker 1: this is we should have been securing the border. We
- 10:37Speaker 1: should have been We are stretched tooth thin, law enforcement
- 10:41Speaker 1: stretch too thin, and that's part of the reason why
- 10:43Speaker 1: we have all this happening right now. We also have
- 10:46Speaker 1: the President who has made it clear as he said
- 10:48Speaker 1: that things will change on January the twentieth. When these
- 10:52Speaker 1: types of things happen, America will act. And that's exactly
- 10:56Speaker 1: what we know. One of the things he did tweet
- 11:00Speaker 1: about an hour ago he said, when I said that
- 11:02Speaker 1: the criminals coming in are far worse than the criminals
- 11:05Speaker 1: we have in our country. That statement was consistently refuted
- 11:09Speaker 1: by Democrats and fake news media, but it turned out
- 11:12Speaker 1: to be true. The crime rate in our country is
- 11:14Speaker 1: at a level that nobody has ever seen before. Our
- 11:17Speaker 1: hearts are all with all of the innocent victims and
- 11:19Speaker 1: their loved ones, including the brave officers of the New
- 11:21Speaker 1: ors Police Department. The Trump administration quote will fully support
- 11:25Speaker 1: the city of New Orleans as they investigate and recover
- 11:28Speaker 1: from this act of pure evil. He is calling it
- 11:32Speaker 1: pure evil. We're also being told in sad news now
- 11:34Speaker 1: coming out of New Orleans from the Jefferson Parish Sheriff's office,
- 11:38Speaker 1: the death toll has risen to at least fifteen in
- 11:42Speaker 1: the New Orleans eve truck attack there, and they are looking.
- 11:46Speaker 1: There's a full blown manhunt going on now for three
- 11:48Speaker 1: men and one woman. As I played for you in
- 11:51Speaker 1: that report a moment ago, let me also play for
- 11:55Speaker 1: you the Louisiana Attorney General what he was said by
- 11:59Speaker 1: the Louisiana Tijorney General on Fox moments ago.
- 12:03Speaker 3: The Attorney General, Congressman Troy Katta said at the news
- 12:06Speaker 3: conference that you also attended, and this is a quote.
- 12:09Speaker 3: We will find you talking to the other suspects. We
- 12:12Speaker 3: will bring you to justice. Is that something a promise
- 12:16Speaker 3: that you, too, as Attorney General can make to the
- 12:19Speaker 3: people of Louisiana and indeed this country.
- 12:23Speaker 5: It absolutely is. And while there are else there are
- 12:26Speaker 5: certainly federal terrorism charges and other charges that can be brought.
- 12:30Speaker 5: We are willing to bring state charges as well, and
- 12:33Speaker 5: we have state terrorism charges. We have the death penalty
- 12:36Speaker 5: in Louisiana, and I'm certainly willing to ensure that we
- 12:38Speaker 5: carry it out.
- 12:40Speaker 1: One of the things that is really frustrating about this is,
- 12:43Speaker 1: let me just give you the FBI New Orleans tweet
- 12:49Speaker 1: that went out earlier this summer. It's said, and this
- 12:53Speaker 1: was tweeted out by FBI New Orleans on X quote,
- 12:55Speaker 1: FBI New Orleans is holding a diversity agent recruitment event
- 12:59Speaker 1: and we want to meet you agents and FBI executives
- 13:03Speaker 1: will provide first hand information about a rewarding career. Apply
- 13:06Speaker 1: now to see if you qualify for the July seventeenth
- 13:08Speaker 1: event in Louisiana with a link. They were hiring in
- 13:12Speaker 1: the FBI New Orleans not based on the best people,
- 13:15Speaker 1: but based on diversity, equity, and inclusion. This was a
- 13:19Speaker 1: directive clearly from the Biden administration. The New Orleans FBI
- 13:23Speaker 1: held a recruiting event a few months ago to recruit quote,
- 13:27Speaker 1: diverse agents, not the best agents, diversity agents. When you
- 13:32Speaker 1: play stupid games, you win stupid prizes. There's a lot
- 13:37Speaker 1: of people worried about the upcoming events New Orleans, the
- 13:40Speaker 1: Sugar Bowl, Mardi Gras, jazz Fest, and then the super Bowl.
- 13:44Speaker 1: We've also found out that those barriers that should have
- 13:48Speaker 1: been up on New Year's Eve before this Sugar Bowl
- 13:51Speaker 1: game were apparently not used or taken down to prepare
- 13:56Speaker 1: them for the super Bowl. There's a lot of people
- 13:58Speaker 1: that are very angry about why on Earth with local
- 14:02Speaker 1: leaders there think it's a good idea to not have
- 14:05Speaker 1: those hard barriers up. The New Orleans Police superintendent saying
- 14:10Speaker 1: this at a press conference moments ago.
- 14:13Speaker 4: Thank you, Governor and Madam Mayer. For those who do
- 14:15Speaker 4: not know me, my name is Anne Kirkpatrick. I'm the
- 14:19Speaker 4: Chief of Police of New Orleans. My title official title
- 14:22Speaker 4: is superintendent, but my role is as chief of police.
- 14:27Speaker 4: You know you've heard some of the details today and
- 14:30Speaker 4: over the last twenty four hours. We had approximately four
- 14:34Speaker 4: hundred officers in the French Quarter. And as we know,
- 14:40Speaker 4: this is not just an act of terrorism. This is
- 14:46Speaker 4: evil and when we face evil, we have a choice.
- 14:51Speaker 4: We can run in fear or we can indeed stand
- 14:56Speaker 4: in strength. And a time of crisis are looking for leadership.
- 15:03Speaker 4: You are looking at the leadership and I promise you
- 15:08Speaker 4: as the chief of police of this city. This city
- 15:12Speaker 4: has been tried by fire before, but fire purifies, fire
- 15:20Speaker 4: makes things stronger. We have a plan, we know what
- 15:27Speaker 4: to do. We are going to get these people. There
- 15:34Speaker 4: is a path forward. Very pleased that we will be
- 15:38Speaker 4: back to having a wonderful game tomorrow night. New Orleans
- 15:43Speaker 4: Police have proven their ability to make the city safer.
- 15:52Speaker 4: Just two years ago we were the murder capital of America. Today,
- 15:58Speaker 4: from that time two years ago, we have driven our
- 16:02Speaker 4: murder rate more than fifty percent down. So we have
- 16:06Speaker 4: a track record. But this is different because it's terrorism.
- 16:12Speaker 1: Now.
- 16:13Speaker 4: I want to thank all of our law enforcement partners.
- 16:16Speaker 4: You're fabulous and we appreciate the partnership. But last night,
- 16:23Speaker 4: three of our officers engaged this terrorist who shot at them.
- 16:29Speaker 4: Three of the officers return fire. Those officers did not
- 16:34Speaker 4: run in fear. I liked what the mayor said this morning.
- 16:40Speaker 4: New Orleans Police and all law enforcement is built. We
- 16:44Speaker 4: are built for dealing with evil, with things that would
- 16:50Speaker 4: cause us others to be in fear. But instead, our
- 16:55Speaker 4: officers and last night NPD particular stood strong. They did
- 17:03Speaker 4: not run. They did kill the terrorist.
- 17:09Speaker 1: They did kill the terrorists. The question that we all
- 17:12Speaker 1: should be asking ourselves now and again, there's a lot
- 17:14Speaker 1: of breaking news on this. Number one, Why on earth
- 17:19Speaker 1: did the local elected officials, the Democrats are in charge
- 17:22Speaker 1: of New Orleans allow for the hydraulic road barriers to
- 17:26Speaker 1: be open and not be closed on New Year's Eve,
- 17:30Speaker 1: the day before this big Bowl game. Why do they
- 17:36Speaker 1: allow for those hydraulic road barriers that they know are
- 17:39Speaker 1: needed for exactly this scenario on New Year's Eve, when
- 17:42Speaker 1: that city is packed and an easy target to allow
- 17:46Speaker 1: for a truck to plow right into people, killing now
- 17:49Speaker 1: fifteen and wounding more than thirty. Why did the FBI,
- 17:55Speaker 1: who spends all this time on inclusion and in recruiting
- 17:59Speaker 1: a New Orleans initially come out and said it wasn't
- 18:02Speaker 1: a terrorist attack at first? Then there's an ISIS flag
- 18:05Speaker 1: that was found in the truck. Then because of voices
- 18:08Speaker 1: like you and me, we were able to put it
- 18:11Speaker 1: out there and force now the FBI to say, okay,
- 18:13Speaker 1: this was a tterarist attack. Yeah, duh, we know that. Duh.
- 18:18Speaker 1: We know that. These are the questions that we should
- 18:22Speaker 1: demand answers from. And finally, the terrorists was a formerly
- 18:27Speaker 1: in the US Army. Reports claim he was reported two
- 18:31Speaker 1: superiors for radical Islamic views, but those reports were being
- 18:35Speaker 1: told now in initial reports may have been ignored. And
- 18:38Speaker 1: more explosive devices were found in the French quarter, videos
- 18:42Speaker 1: showing three men one woman placing the additional bombs. Now
- 18:46Speaker 1: the FBI saying they believe the man didn't act alone.
- 18:50Speaker 1: Why do we have an FBI that cares more about
- 18:54Speaker 1: inclusion and equity than they do about catching the bad guys?
- 18:58Speaker 1: These are all questions that you be asked. And the
- 19:01Speaker 1: final question is now that a test a cyber trucks
- 19:03Speaker 1: exploited outside of the Trump Hotel in Vegas. How do
- 19:07Speaker 1: you respond to this coordinated attack. I'm going to keep
- 19:10Speaker 1: you updated on this. I can promise you
