- 2:28Speaker 1: it's on my show. That's why I created money making conversations.
- 2:31Speaker 1: I'd like to bring people on the show that I
- 2:32Speaker 1: call game breakers, some of my celebrities, some of them
- 2:35Speaker 1: our CEOs, entrepreneurs, and what I like to call industry
- 2:38Speaker 1: decision makers. My next guest is Brendan Thompson. He is
- 2:42Speaker 1: a native Houstonian. You know I got it, so you
- 2:45Speaker 1: know I love him already because I'm from Houston Texts.
- 2:47Speaker 1: He graduated from Preview and m that's an HBCU for
- 2:50Speaker 1: for anybody who don't know about the power of a
- 2:54Speaker 1: of of HBCU. That's prev am used to. Degree was
- 2:57Speaker 1: an electrical engineering. My degree was from your Houston and
- 3:00Speaker 1: mathematics we talk about in a minute. While he was
- 3:03Speaker 1: able to finish through with this engine and degree, I
- 3:05Speaker 1: couldn't make it past physics. He found a trade house,
- 3:09Speaker 1: a company that partnered with an educational platform to be
- 3:12Speaker 1: to teach people how to properly invest in the foreign
- 3:15Speaker 1: exchange market. Within only two years of its exception, trade house,
- 3:20Speaker 1: a wealth management organization has grown to eighty thousand active members.
- 3:25Speaker 1: In fact, the co founders and Brendon are actively engaging daily.
- 3:29Speaker 1: They help mentor and coach new members who joined their
- 3:31Speaker 1: wealth management group. Regardless of one's location or age, Please
- 3:36Speaker 1: work with the money making conversations straight out of family family,
- 3:40Speaker 1: prayer of view and m thinking about my board, Will Packer,
- 3:43Speaker 1: who was also electrical engineer. Brendon Thompson, How you doing, sir?
- 3:47Speaker 1: You don't how you doing? Sign? Well? First of all,
- 3:49Speaker 1: you know what part of used to you from? I
- 3:51Speaker 1: gotta break it down because I'm a fifth ward boar.
- 3:53Speaker 1: What what part of used? You grew up in city text?
- 3:56Speaker 1: You know the same most cities right there right then,
- 4:01Speaker 1: See I'm Houston, Texas. You know, even me saying mo,
- 4:04Speaker 1: I said fear for you all of a sudden I
- 4:06Speaker 1: asked him to say, well you, oh, but sit so
- 4:09Speaker 1: you're gonna start char change. But that's a great area
- 4:12Speaker 1: I grew up. I knew a fair familiar with that
- 4:14Speaker 1: area of the They kind of grew up before being
- 4:16Speaker 1: counted in Houston, Texas. And so would you be in
- 4:19Speaker 1: with what what has inspired you? You went to hbc
- 4:23Speaker 1: U School, which is Prey of View in them, which
- 4:25Speaker 1: is like forty five minutes outside of Houston, Texas. You
- 4:28Speaker 1: have Texas Southern right there in Houston, Texas. Down the
- 4:31Speaker 1: road you got Southern University. Up the road, you got Grambling,
- 4:34Speaker 1: Why Prayer of You? And m so A Shawn. If
- 4:38Speaker 1: I could just give you a little backstory on, you know,
- 4:41Speaker 1: my college journey. I started off at Hampton University. To
- 4:44Speaker 1: be honest with you, start off at Hampton University in Hampton, Virginia.
- 4:49Speaker 1: And for those of you that know about Hampton, it's
- 4:52Speaker 1: a private school HBC as well, but very very expensive.
- 4:56Speaker 1: So you know, I couldn't, you know, continue because of
- 4:59Speaker 1: financial holes. So I decided to transfer. And when I
- 5:03Speaker 1: was looking at schools to transfer to in Texas, you
- 5:06Speaker 1: know I looked at you, of H I looked at
- 5:09Speaker 1: t S you, and I also was looking at Preview.
- 5:12Speaker 1: You know, you have ah no not to say anything
- 5:15Speaker 1: bad about the school, but I just heard that you
- 5:17Speaker 1: would get swallowed up. You would just be like another number.
- 5:20Speaker 1: It wouldn't give you that same HBU HBCU feel t S.
- 5:25Speaker 1: You didn't have my my degree. They had electronic engineer,
- 5:30Speaker 1: but they didn't have electrical engineer praev You happened to
- 5:32Speaker 1: be the only school within that Houston area that that
- 5:36Speaker 1: accepted the bulk of my transfer credit. So I went
- 5:39Speaker 1: ahead and I became the panther rolled up that rode
- 5:43Speaker 1: down to the baby. Don't the panthers up there? Now?
- 5:46Speaker 1: It's a cool thing about it. Like a good friend
- 5:48Speaker 1: of mine, Lonny Love, she graduated from PREV and m
- 5:52Speaker 1: she's blinding Love. She's the one of the co host
- 5:54Speaker 1: of the talk show The Real and she graduated electrical engineering.
- 5:57Speaker 1: So they now Preview has been known. When I graded
- 6:00Speaker 1: from high school, a lot of my friends went down
- 6:02Speaker 1: to Preview and have I'm living very successful lives. But
- 6:06Speaker 1: you were talking about the culture, Like I graduated from
- 6:07Speaker 1: University Houston. You can't get into the numbers game. Forty
- 6:10Speaker 1: thousand students walking around on that campus and when I
- 6:13Speaker 1: when I was there, they didn't have that college life.
- 6:16Speaker 1: It's much more of a commuter school. And so my
- 6:19Speaker 1: executive producer of Money Making Conversation, she's a Hampton grad
- 6:22Speaker 1: So when you said happened though, she all are dancing
- 6:25Speaker 1: in the studio throwing our hands up in there, and
- 6:28Speaker 1: so all right, So I got a lot of Pride
- 6:30Speaker 1: and then my boy, Will Packer, he graduated with electrical
- 6:33Speaker 1: engineering degree from FAM. You now, you got electrical engineering degree,
- 6:39Speaker 1: but you're not doing as they say electrical engineering, So
- 6:43Speaker 1: tell me about that transition. So when I transferred to
- 6:48Speaker 1: the p V, you know, I went ahead and finished
- 6:51Speaker 1: off and got my degree in electrical engineering, as you mentioned,
- 6:55Speaker 1: And before I even walked across the state, the stadiums
- 6:58Speaker 1: are already had an offer to the Born Company. So
- 7:01Speaker 1: the boring company offered me a full time position where
- 7:03Speaker 1: I started my journey in Long Beach, California. So I
- 7:07Speaker 1: hadn't you know, um ever been to California before in
- 7:11Speaker 1: my life, and it was a dream of mine to
- 7:13Speaker 1: go and lived there. But you know, I didn't know
- 7:15Speaker 1: exactly how I was gonna get there, so Long Behold.
- 7:18Speaker 1: You know, Boning offered me a full time positions, like
- 7:20Speaker 1: maybe a month or two after I graduated from p V,
- 7:23Speaker 1: I moved out to Long Beach started my journey. And
- 7:26Speaker 1: I'll be real with you, Rashaan, you know, it didn't
- 7:29Speaker 1: take me too long to figure out that corporate America
- 7:32Speaker 1: just wasn't fit for me. Right. I found I found
- 7:35Speaker 1: that I was like a shark in a swimming pool.
- 7:37Speaker 1: I was the youngest blackest person on my team and
- 7:40Speaker 1: every team I was on, and I started to feel like,
- 7:44Speaker 1: you know, my my gifts and talents just weren't being
- 7:47Speaker 1: put to good use. Um. You know, maybe I wasn't
- 7:50Speaker 1: the smartest in the company, but I had the most
- 7:53Speaker 1: I feel like uh business stavvy, I was. I was
- 7:57Speaker 1: more of a person that can solve problems. Maybe now
- 8:00Speaker 1: you know, mathematical, I could, But my best you know
- 8:03Speaker 1: strengths were you know, business. And I saw that I
- 8:06Speaker 1: was on the wrong side one of the company and
- 8:08Speaker 1: just the wrong side of you know, becoming successful on
- 8:12Speaker 1: how to approach it. So when I came across you know,
- 8:16Speaker 1: the foreign exchange market, you know, it was like a
- 8:19Speaker 1: light bulb that went off. I said, wow, I said,
- 8:21Speaker 1: this is something that I can actually use as an
- 8:24Speaker 1: exit strategy. Because I was I was, no, no dummy,
- 8:27Speaker 1: I wasn't about to just quit a six figure job.
- 8:31Speaker 1: But you know what, if I can really hone onto
- 8:34Speaker 1: this skills, if I could really understand this industry, I
- 8:38Speaker 1: could use this as a exit strategy to go full
- 8:42Speaker 1: time investor entrepreneur. So I came across the foreign exchange
- 8:46Speaker 1: market about twenty seventeen. So I have been working at
- 8:49Speaker 1: Bone for maybe like eight or nine months, and as
- 8:52Speaker 1: soon as I really understood what the industry was, I said,
- 8:55Speaker 1: you know what, I'm walking off my job in about
- 8:58Speaker 1: a year and a half. I can't. I can't do
- 8:59Speaker 1: this anymore. You know, I'm not as happy as I
- 9:02Speaker 1: thought I would be. I thought making six figures would
- 9:04Speaker 1: be you know that golden ticket. You want to be
- 9:06Speaker 1: a six figure on it. That's what everybody wants to
- 9:08Speaker 1: be in college, you know, coming out. And so as
- 9:11Speaker 1: I realized that, you know, it wasn't about the money,
- 9:13Speaker 1: it was more so about the fulfillment and what you
- 9:16Speaker 1: were doing on a daily basis. And I wasn't getting
- 9:18Speaker 1: fulfilled as a person. And so, you know, as I
- 9:21Speaker 1: began to get a mercy the skill set and I
- 9:23Speaker 1: got better and better, I said, you know what, this
- 9:25Speaker 1: is something that I could really take all the way.
- 9:28Speaker 1: And at the top of twenty nineteen, I went ahead
- 9:31Speaker 1: and fired my boss before they fired me, and uh,
- 9:36Speaker 1: and I took my talents all the way to to
- 9:38Speaker 1: full time entrepreneurship and I didn't look back. Now, you know,
- 9:42Speaker 1: let's go, let's go and talk about where he was
- 9:44Speaker 1: at a six figure in Houston, Texas salary and a
- 9:48Speaker 1: six figure salary in California. To them Salaris. Now, the housing,
- 9:53Speaker 1: the rent, the taxes is super crazy in California, right there,
- 10:00Speaker 1: you know, is a game changing right there. Just putting
- 10:03Speaker 1: just buying tags for your call is crazy in California.
- 10:07Speaker 1: I'll just let you know, I think I was paying,
- 10:09Speaker 1: Like I paid up my tax on my car like
- 10:11Speaker 1: forty dollars in Texas. It was like a thousand dollars
- 10:15Speaker 1: in California. It's just the numbers are just different. And
- 10:18Speaker 1: how you living. Yeah, you got the numbers on your paycheck,
- 10:21Speaker 1: but you giveing it out as soon as you cash it.
- 10:23Speaker 1: So that was part of the process too as a
- 10:26Speaker 1: forty hour week guy. Now as an entrepreneur, the reason
- 10:29Speaker 1: I brought you on the show, I never the foreign
- 10:32Speaker 1: exchange market. I don't know what that is. I'll be
- 10:34Speaker 1: perfectly honest with you, Brandon, I don't know what you
- 10:37Speaker 1: when you start talking like that, you you come on,
- 10:39Speaker 1: You've coming. You know. I brought you in the show
- 10:41Speaker 1: to educate me as well as my viewers and listener.
- 10:44Speaker 1: What is the hard exchange market? So the foreign exchange
- 10:49Speaker 1: market is it is the largest financial market in the world,
- 10:51Speaker 1: the largest financial liquid market in the World's generating you know,
- 10:55Speaker 1: anywhere from six point five to seven point seven trillion
- 10:58Speaker 1: dollars a day on a given day. This is in volume.
- 11:01Speaker 1: So when we're talking about you know, trading, you know,
- 11:04Speaker 1: in a foreign exchange market, you are literally trading you know,
- 11:07Speaker 1: currency pairs, you know, in their exchange rates. So as
- 11:10Speaker 1: currency pairs, you know, uh exchange rate fluctuate, you can
- 11:14Speaker 1: make money on the rise and fall. So you know,
- 11:17Speaker 1: just like stocks or something like that, you only make money,
- 11:20Speaker 1: you know, on the rise of a share you get
- 11:22Speaker 1: in that five dollars a share. If it goes up
- 11:24Speaker 1: ten ten dollars to share, you make money. Where well
- 11:27Speaker 1: as in whereas in the porn exchange market, you can
- 11:30Speaker 1: make money on the rise and fall of an exchange rate.
- 11:32Speaker 1: So for example, if we were to go out of
- 11:34Speaker 1: the country, let's say from from Houston, texts, we fly
- 11:38Speaker 1: to Italy. Right, a lot of Italy there there there, Um,
- 11:43Speaker 1: I want to say, their currency is the euro, right,
- 11:45Speaker 1: the currency is the euro. So when we get there,
- 11:47Speaker 1: we can't spend US dollars. We have to convert our
- 11:50Speaker 1: US dollars to their primary currency. So just for simplistic,
- 11:56Speaker 1: you know, simplistic understanding, Let's say it's aitute one ratio.
- 12:00Speaker 1: For every two U S dollars we give them equals
- 12:03Speaker 1: one euro, so we give them a thousand U S
- 12:06Speaker 1: dollars in return, they'll give us five hundred euros. Now,
- 12:09Speaker 1: let's say we're on that trip, is all expense paid.
- 12:12Speaker 1: You know, we're just having a good time. We don't
- 12:14Speaker 1: have to worry about anything. We just have some spending cash,
- 12:16Speaker 1: that five hundred euro that we converted over from a
- 12:19Speaker 1: thousand dollars. Let's say at the end of that trip
- 12:21Speaker 1: we end up spending nothing, we still have that five
- 12:23Speaker 1: hundred year old We get back to the States, and
- 12:26Speaker 1: we realized that we cannot spend euro in the United States.
- 12:29Speaker 1: So all we have to do is, you know, I'm
- 12:31Speaker 1: pretty sure people have seen it in the airport, go
- 12:33Speaker 1: to those foreign exchange center booths and say, I want
- 12:36Speaker 1: to exchange my five hundred yearrol back to U S dollars.
- 12:39Speaker 1: I didn't spend any of it when I was on
- 12:41Speaker 1: the trip. Now, logically, thinking people are gonna be expecting
- 12:45Speaker 1: a thousand U S dollars back. But what can happen
- 12:49Speaker 1: to things can happen. You can get more or less
- 12:52Speaker 1: than what you exchange. You can give them that five
- 12:54Speaker 1: hundred yearrold and they give you two thousand U S.
- 12:56Speaker 1: Dollars back and you profit a thousand dollars. Or you
- 12:59Speaker 1: can give them that five hundred year old and they
- 13:01Speaker 1: give you five U S dollars where you lost five
- 13:03Speaker 1: hundred dollars. The education and that is where you understand
- 13:08Speaker 1: what's going on. So if I understand the foreign exchange market,
- 13:12Speaker 1: I see that. You know, the euro can get stronger
- 13:15Speaker 1: to the US dollar, meaning that when I exchange it
- 13:18Speaker 1: over it can double triple whatever what I did. What
- 13:23Speaker 1: it was before I exchanged it, So at first it
- 13:25Speaker 1: was two dollars, but when I exchange it back, it's
- 13:27Speaker 1: four dollars. So I can actually make money, not by
- 13:30Speaker 1: spending it, not by necessarily working, but just by exchanging
- 13:35Speaker 1: currency at the right time. I don't know if you
- 13:37Speaker 1: caught the rashan, but you know that's the basis of
- 13:40Speaker 1: what the foreign exchange market is. It's just buying and
- 13:42Speaker 1: selling currency and making money off of the fluctuation of
- 13:45Speaker 1: the value. Well, you know, because you know, you know,
- 13:49Speaker 1: I travel or been to Mexico, been to Europe, you
- 13:52Speaker 1: know the currency exchange, and I never really pay an
- 13:54Speaker 1: attention to it, you know other than the when them
- 13:57Speaker 1: there in the moment. And so a lot of people
- 13:59Speaker 1: don't a lot of people, African Americans especially, they travel
- 14:02Speaker 1: and they either get get caught up in the complications
- 14:05Speaker 1: or they're just spen spend cash, and especially go to Mexico,
- 14:08Speaker 1: you give away with just spending cash a lot of
- 14:10Speaker 1: a lot of places that you go. But I've never
- 14:12Speaker 1: heard this because I'm a stock buyer, you know, buy stock,
- 14:15Speaker 1: I buy mutual funds and investing insurance policies that that
- 14:19Speaker 1: that that that give me a secured interest on my
- 14:23Speaker 1: on my money that I invested as a universe or
- 14:26Speaker 1: a whole, you can get a secured interest usually about
- 14:29Speaker 1: four percent. So that's for Rashan McDonald's mindset it has
- 14:32Speaker 1: always been when it comes to investing. You said, hold up,
- 14:35Speaker 1: put the brakes on the part the break of the shop.
- 14:37Speaker 1: The far exchange is also a market that I can
- 14:41Speaker 1: invest my money into. Are you saying that as well? Absolutely?
- 14:46Speaker 1: How so do I come to you do I They've
- 14:50Speaker 1: got a stockbroker offices open like they do it. I
- 14:53Speaker 1: know you can. You can definitely come to me. That's
- 14:55Speaker 1: that's exactly what we do. We teach people how to
- 14:58Speaker 1: you know, um participating. So to be completely honest with you,
- 15:03Speaker 1: you don't have to pay anybody to to get started
- 15:05Speaker 1: and start trading in the foreign exchange market. It but
- 15:08Speaker 1: but who's you to get some education and get a
- 15:11Speaker 1: mentorship and be attached to some type of platform that
- 15:14Speaker 1: can give you guidance. But honestly, you can go start
- 15:17Speaker 1: a startup broker right There's there's thousands of brokers online.
- 15:21Speaker 1: If you just google for egg broker, you can start
- 15:23Speaker 1: an account for free and you can put as little
- 15:26Speaker 1: as Some brokers allow you to put as little as
- 15:29Speaker 1: tim bucks in your account to get started summer fifty.
- 15:32Speaker 1: It just depends on the broker. And once you get
- 15:35Speaker 1: that broker, you then attached that broker to your your
- 15:39Speaker 1: trading platform, which we use either metatrator for or mediatrtor five.
- 15:43Speaker 1: These are actually actual apps on your phone that you
- 15:46Speaker 1: can download for free. So once you get your broker,
- 15:49Speaker 1: they'll give you some credentials to connect that broker account
- 15:52Speaker 1: to your trading app, which is could be Mediatrtor for
- 15:55Speaker 1: Mediatrator five and then you start trading. It's as simple
- 15:59Speaker 1: as that. You know what we do is we we
- 16:02Speaker 1: we give you that guidance, We give you that you know,
- 16:04Speaker 1: that mentorship to show you not only you know how
- 16:07Speaker 1: to just put money in your account, but how to
- 16:09Speaker 1: actually make it grow consistently. And that's what that's what
- 16:12Speaker 1: that's what trade house is all about. Right absolutely, Okay,
- 16:15Speaker 1: So you know it's finally here, the season of celebration,
- 16:19Speaker 1: and no matter how you celebrate with family and friends,
- 16:22Speaker 1: whether you're preparing for reys magos or Karamu lighting the Manura,
- 16:26Speaker 1: are going to midnight mass, Coals has just what you
- 16:29Speaker 1: need to make those traditions special. Plus you'll find gifts

- 16:38Speaker 1: blankets and throws. Support minority owned or founded brands by

- 16:50Speaker 1: and under Armour. And in the spirit of giving, Coals
- 16:54Speaker 1: Cares is donating eight million dollars to local nonprofits nationwide.

- 17:50Speaker 1: but I'm filling it because there's a lot more to report,
- 17:53Speaker 1: like when they're parched or windy conditions out there. You
- 17:56Speaker 1: gotta be extra careful with things like burning yard wish.
- 18:00Speaker 1: After all, wildfires can start anywhere, even in your neck
- 18:03Speaker 1: of the woods. Go to Smokey Bear dot com to
- 18:06Speaker 1: learn more about wildfire prevention. Brought to you by the U. S.
- 18:09Speaker 1: Forest Service, your state Forrester and the AD Council. Let's
- 18:12Speaker 1: let's talk about your background here a little bit. You know,
- 18:14Speaker 1: you went to prayer of you what to Hamptons first,
- 18:16Speaker 1: and it was also money has always been to the
- 18:19Speaker 1: forefront of your conversation because, like you said, it was
- 18:21Speaker 1: too expensive, so you had to come back to the
- 18:23Speaker 1: Houston area and uh consider texas southern, but it didn't
- 18:27Speaker 1: hit your major and then you wanted to like that
- 18:30Speaker 1: HBCU culture, that that that's structure, that felt you walked
- 18:33Speaker 1: around as a competitive environ with people that look like you.
- 18:36Speaker 1: With the prayer of you got that degree, I went
- 18:39Speaker 1: to California Snoop Dogg Country realized that okay, cool Snoop Stoop,
- 18:44Speaker 1: I gotta go, brother, gotta go. I gotta get out
- 18:47Speaker 1: of California, gotta get out of Compton. Their air where
- 18:49Speaker 1: I'm out. And so now you're back in Houston, most City,
- 18:52Speaker 1: Boar and trade House. You know the reason I say
- 18:56Speaker 1: that because you seem like an innovative. You seem like
- 18:59Speaker 1: a person who sits around who is your core group,
- 19:02Speaker 1: who who is your thinking team? Who was inspiring you
- 19:05Speaker 1: and your group to be able to take a lot
- 19:07Speaker 1: of these ideas to the next level because you know,
- 19:09Speaker 1: like with all of my Apple, Microsoft, they just start
- 19:12Speaker 1: by themselves. They had a little core group of fellows
- 19:14Speaker 1: that that managed to build these franchises out. Who who
- 19:18Speaker 1: is your team? Absolutely? You know, my my younger brother,
- 19:22Speaker 1: Bryce Thompson. He was actually one of the first people
- 19:25Speaker 1: that I introduced, you know, to the skill set. And
- 19:29Speaker 1: you know, he was in college at the time, struggling
- 19:32Speaker 1: college student at Morehouse College, and um, you know, when
- 19:36Speaker 1: I've seen this, I said, Man, if I would have
- 19:38Speaker 1: had this in college, this is definitely something that would
- 19:40Speaker 1: have changed the trajectory of my finances. And you know,
- 19:43Speaker 1: I always wanted to put him on something, but I
- 19:46Speaker 1: wanted to make sure it was sustainable, and I knew
- 19:48Speaker 1: that he can have, you know, a long longevity in it,
- 19:52Speaker 1: and so I passed this along to him and then
- 19:56Speaker 1: you know, he got a few of his friends on.
- 19:59Speaker 1: Shout out to Nathan and Samuel Ian Jackson right now
- 20:02Speaker 1: though Perez, just to name a few. It started what
- 20:05Speaker 1: about four or five of us, but you know I
- 20:07Speaker 1: was the one that kind of spearheaded it, brought it
- 20:10Speaker 1: to everybody, and then we started to you know, collaborate,
- 20:14Speaker 1: and you know, amongst us, we we started spreading it
- 20:17Speaker 1: to the colleges. I called it the rich college Kids
- 20:19Speaker 1: tour Um because simply I didn't I didn't want to.
- 20:24Speaker 1: I didn't want to start, you know, and my my,
- 20:27Speaker 1: uh demographic because we were already in college, I said,
- 20:29Speaker 1: I mean I already graduating college. I was looking for
- 20:32Speaker 1: people that were already in the learning environment and we're
- 20:36Speaker 1: looking for extra money. So I feel like that was
- 20:38Speaker 1: the best market to start, Like, we can get you
- 20:40Speaker 1: here in college where you're already in a in a
- 20:43Speaker 1: in a mindset to learn something new, and you you
- 20:45Speaker 1: want to get more money because we know the struggling
- 20:48Speaker 1: college students story. I said, this would be the perfect
- 20:51Speaker 1: you know, demographic to start at and really take this
- 20:54Speaker 1: to the next level. Wow. So you guys have been
- 20:56Speaker 1: viewing your brother Bright's have been featured in Forest magazine.
- 20:59Speaker 1: Now we're just that do for your brain? Come on
- 21:01Speaker 1: that Forbes, man. It definitely legitimizes it. You know. Um,
- 21:07Speaker 1: you know, like you said, are are our people don't
- 21:10Speaker 1: really understand, you know, the the investment world. I feel
- 21:13Speaker 1: like we've we've taken over a lot of different industries
- 21:16Speaker 1: from entertainment, sports, you know, but I feel like business
- 21:19Speaker 1: and and the finance well is something that we're still
- 21:21Speaker 1: you know, competing to really you know, hold the crowning.
- 21:24Speaker 1: So like to have that article written for both of
- 21:27Speaker 1: us in that light, you know, just just it gives
- 21:30Speaker 1: validity that that we can be you know, on top
- 21:33Speaker 1: of that space and that you know, it's it's it's
- 21:35Speaker 1: a lot more room for us. We just have to
- 21:37Speaker 1: you know, put ourselves around the right people that had
- 21:40Speaker 1: the right information. You know. It's really interesting when I
- 21:43Speaker 1: hear you talk because you're young, which is a blessing,
- 21:46Speaker 1: but you but you figured it out. You know, I
- 21:47Speaker 1: always tell people you can just figured it out. I
- 21:50Speaker 1: don't give you just sit down and figure it out.
- 21:54Speaker 1: But don't you have to trust yourself? And then when
- 21:57Speaker 1: I say trust yourself, obviously you graduated, you went to California,
- 22:00Speaker 1: was living to quote unquote plan, and then you said
- 22:04Speaker 1: the plan is not working for me. So when did
- 22:07Speaker 1: you start trusting yourself? Brandon? Well, you know, I always
- 22:14Speaker 1: was was one of those people that I wasn't necessarily
- 22:20Speaker 1: like a logical thinking. I'm a logical thinking, but I'm
- 22:23Speaker 1: very intuitive, right, I'm very intuned with with with with
- 22:27Speaker 1: the spirit right and and and my inner self. And
- 22:31Speaker 1: one of the people that I looked up to one
- 22:33Speaker 1: of my I guess you could say my virtual mentors
- 22:35Speaker 1: is Napoleon Hill. And I probably start watching um and
- 22:39Speaker 1: reading some of his material. Back in tw and uh,
- 22:44Speaker 1: I watched the video on YouTube called the Seventeen Keys
- 22:47Speaker 1: to Success by Napoleon Hill, and I will watch you know, Uh,
- 22:51Speaker 1: I guess an excerpt every day before I went to class.
- 22:54Speaker 1: It was seventeen of them. And you know, once I
- 22:58Speaker 1: realized some of the things I was doing was actually
- 23:01Speaker 1: on accident, like you know, manifesting things, and he actually
- 23:05Speaker 1: made it like an actual thing. While I was like, Wow,
- 23:07Speaker 1: I can actually be intentional about manifesting my life. I
- 23:10Speaker 1: could be intentional about, you know, the things I do
- 23:13Speaker 1: to get success. So once I understood that there's intentionalism
- 23:17Speaker 1: behind succeeding, then I start doing those things on a
- 23:21Speaker 1: on a daily basis. And I realized that, okay, cool.
- 23:23Speaker 1: If I want to do something that's outside of the normal,
- 23:26Speaker 1: that that might look crazy to other people, it's okay
- 23:30Speaker 1: because if I'm intentional enough and I understand the formula
- 23:33Speaker 1: and the recipe, to success. It's gonna all make sense
- 23:36Speaker 1: at the end of the day. We know. An interesting
- 23:38Speaker 1: thing of what I love about you, first of all,
- 23:40Speaker 1: is that you don't forget the value of being an
- 23:43Speaker 1: hbc You graduated and then your your scholarship that you
- 23:46Speaker 1: created to fund HBCU students in the stem uh lane,
- 23:52Speaker 1: Why is that important? It's it's super important. Um, it's
- 23:58Speaker 1: it's not enough of us in that space one. And
- 24:02Speaker 1: so I wanted to be a an example to say, hey,
- 24:06Speaker 1: look I'm somebody that Yeah, I'm not in the field anymore.
- 24:09Speaker 1: But I did use it as a platform. Um, and
- 24:14Speaker 1: you can do it too. And then I also know
- 24:17Speaker 1: that you know, it's a lot of it's a lot
- 24:18Speaker 1: of smart kids out there that are struggling in school
- 24:22Speaker 1: and they want to be able to focus. I remember
- 24:25Speaker 1: struggling at Hampton more specifically, UM, when I was going
- 24:30Speaker 1: from my electrical engineering degree, and it was so it
- 24:34Speaker 1: was such a different experience because my finances weren't in order. Well,
- 24:39Speaker 1: your finances are in order. In school, it's hard to to,
- 24:44Speaker 1: I guess, focus on the scholastics. It's hard to focus
- 24:48Speaker 1: on the curriculum. You're more so focusing on man How
- 24:50Speaker 1: am I gonna even buy the book? How am I
- 24:52Speaker 1: gonna pay my rent? How am I gonna eat? You know,
- 24:55Speaker 1: am I even gonna have enough money to go to
- 24:57Speaker 1: school the next semester? So it's a lot of the
- 24:59Speaker 1: it's a lot of the tractions when you don't have
- 25:01Speaker 1: your finances in order. And so if I could take
- 25:03Speaker 1: that that thought away from a student and say, hey,
- 25:06Speaker 1: you know, college is is your semester is paid for?
- 25:09Speaker 1: Just focus on the on the books, just focus on
- 25:12Speaker 1: getting the internship, and and that's gonna do you well
- 25:15Speaker 1: off well, way way more well. You're gonna be way
- 25:18Speaker 1: more well off if you're able to focus just on
- 25:20Speaker 1: school then focusing on finances. So that was really big
- 25:23Speaker 1: for me to be able to, you know, give back
- 25:25Speaker 1: to two people that I know have been in my
- 25:27Speaker 1: shoes before and understand the power of them, you know,
- 25:32Speaker 1: taking that that that whole out of their life, so
- 25:35Speaker 1: that could really focus on what's important. You know, um,
- 25:39Speaker 1: what grows in the forest trees, Sure, you know what
- 25:42Speaker 1: else grows in the forest, our imagination, our sense of wonder,
- 25:47Speaker 1: and our family bonds grow too, because when we disconnect
- 25:50Speaker 1: from this and connect with this, we reconnect with each other.

- 26:14Speaker 1: almost on time. This morning. Mom is coming out the
- 26:17Speaker 1: front door, strong with a double arm kid carry. Looks
- 26:20Speaker 1: like Dad has the bags. Daughter is bringing up the rear.
- 26:23Speaker 1: Oh but the diaper bag wasn't closed. Diapers and toys
- 26:28Speaker 1: are everywhere. Oh but mom has just nailed the perfect
- 26:32Speaker 1: car seat buckle for the toddler. And now the eldest daughter,
- 26:36Speaker 1: who looks to be about nine or ten, has secured
- 26:38Speaker 1: herself in the booster seat. Dad SIPs the bad clothes
- 26:41Speaker 1: and they're off. But looks like Mom doesn't realize her
- 26:45Speaker 1: coffee cup is still on the roof of the car.
- 26:48Speaker 1: And there it goes. Oh, that's a shame that mug
- 26:52Speaker 1: was a fan favorite. Don't sweat the small stuff. Just

- 27:15Speaker 1: look and see a tree. They see the wrinkled face
- 27:18Speaker 1: of a wizard with arms outstretched to the sky. They

- 27:40Speaker 1: Enjoy reading your synopsis that were sent over about you,
- 27:43Speaker 1: because you talked about your mom and uh, you and
- 27:46Speaker 1: your brother Bryce, and I remember my mom, you know,
- 27:49Speaker 1: she said we were born in fear for my father
- 27:51Speaker 1: passed before she passed. She's passed now. And one of
- 27:55Speaker 1: the things she wouldn't move out of that house. You know.
- 27:57Speaker 1: We grew up with a you know window, our audition unit.
- 28:00Speaker 1: And she moved the stove. You know what we do
- 28:04Speaker 1: you leaning on You're gonna get burned, you know, gat stove.
- 28:06Speaker 1: You know, the whole thing was hot, and I told us, say, hey,
- 28:11Speaker 1: I wanted to tear down the house. She wouldn't let
- 28:13Speaker 1: me tear it out of house. That's okay, cool, because
- 28:15Speaker 1: I wanted her to live and experience central air conditioning,
- 28:18Speaker 1: central heat, you know, just just you walk into the
- 28:21Speaker 1: room and it's warm, you know. And uh. And I
- 28:23Speaker 1: was able to do that and now and and before
- 28:26Speaker 1: she passed, because that was that was one of my
- 28:28Speaker 1: dreams of giving her that life. Of course, she never
- 28:31Speaker 1: went back into the old part of the house that
- 28:33Speaker 1: she wouldn't let me tear dout. Basically, I built a
- 28:34Speaker 1: new part of the house onto an old part of
- 28:36Speaker 1: the house. When I read about, you know, the relationship
- 28:39Speaker 1: with your mom and how you and your brother Bryce
- 28:41Speaker 1: were able to retire her and allowed her to follow
- 28:43Speaker 1: her or live her passage, talk about that. The importance
- 28:46Speaker 1: of that, oh man, I think I think every child
- 28:50Speaker 1: wants to be able to pay homage to their parents,
- 28:54Speaker 1: you know, whether it's financially or it's them just succeeding
- 28:59Speaker 1: at a hot or to make them proud. So you know,
- 29:01Speaker 1: graduating college was definitely one of the things that you know, um,
- 29:07Speaker 1: that motivated me to finish. You know, graduating college was like, Okay,
- 29:11Speaker 1: I gotta do it for my mom. She she didn't
- 29:13Speaker 1: she didn't get to go. So you know, she made
- 29:16Speaker 1: it important that I made it importance on it that
- 29:18Speaker 1: I should go and I should finish so I can
- 29:20Speaker 1: have more opportunities than she did. But you know, getting
- 29:24Speaker 1: into a space where I was financially, you know, sustained,
- 29:29Speaker 1: sustained enough to not only take care of myself, but
- 29:31Speaker 1: then trickle it down and be like, hey, mom, you
- 29:34Speaker 1: don't have to work anymore. You know, I'm making enough
- 29:37Speaker 1: money where I can send you, you know, allowance every
- 29:40Speaker 1: week for you to not only cover your bills, but
- 29:42Speaker 1: for you to actually live a better lifestyle than you've
- 29:45Speaker 1: been living. And you know that's always been a dream
- 29:48Speaker 1: of mine. You know, they say you gotta have a whip.
- 29:50Speaker 1: You don't have a while, you know what I'm saying,
- 29:52Speaker 1: Then it's gonna be hard to really push through those
- 29:55Speaker 1: tough times. You know, the hire stands for will help you, right,
- 29:57Speaker 1: So on those tough times, you gotta have something that
- 30:00Speaker 1: your anchor to that you're you're pushing for as bigger
- 30:02Speaker 1: than yourself. And so you know, just having my mom
- 30:04Speaker 1: in the back of my mind, knowing all the sacrifices
- 30:07Speaker 1: that she made for me to even you know, get
- 30:09Speaker 1: to college. You know, it made me feel like a
- 30:13Speaker 1: sense of responsibility that I had to at least try
- 30:16Speaker 1: to pay it back. I know I can never pay
- 30:17Speaker 1: it back, but I could at least, you know, you know,
- 30:20Speaker 1: try my hardest to to to give her, like you said, uh,
- 30:23Speaker 1: an experience that she probably wouldn't have gotten if I didn't,
- 30:26Speaker 1: you know, make that um the forefront of my goals. Well,
- 30:29Speaker 1: you know, before COVID, that's what they said, no mask,
- 30:32Speaker 1: And we've been doing doing virtual and events for the
- 30:35Speaker 1: past year. You got the I Millennial three conference happening
- 30:38Speaker 1: this month in Miami, my favorite city. By the way,
- 30:42Speaker 1: I don't know why you're doing it down there, brand,
- 30:43Speaker 1: I know why. I love why you're doing it down there.
- 30:46Speaker 1: It's happening again. Talk about how it started, you know,
- 30:49Speaker 1: because the keyword you are millennial, and so you know,
- 30:53Speaker 1: literials get a bad rap about wrap and I think
- 30:55Speaker 1: they're easing up now because the fact that you understand mentorship,
- 31:00Speaker 1: You crave me mentorship, you seek out mentorship, and I
- 31:03Speaker 1: think that's something that's important. It was something I didn't do.
- 31:06Speaker 1: I didn't understand when I was growing up, and you
- 31:08Speaker 1: guys understand the value of mentorship and just hanging around
- 31:12Speaker 1: people who are experienced. Talk about the Millennial Millennial three
- 31:15Speaker 1: conferences happening in Miami this month. Oh, I'm super super
- 31:19Speaker 1: excited about I AM three. You know, it's gonna be
- 31:22Speaker 1: a industry shifting event, you know, just to give you
- 31:26Speaker 1: a little backstory on I AM you know, it is
- 31:29Speaker 1: a you know, essentially an event where we come together
- 31:33Speaker 1: as an organization and we just give value from you know,
- 31:37Speaker 1: teaching how to market mindset, you know, you know, strategies
- 31:42Speaker 1: on you know, looking at the market and becoming more profitable,
- 31:45Speaker 1: and then as well as entertainment. You know, we want
- 31:47Speaker 1: to have fun while we're there. But you know, we
- 31:49Speaker 1: started off I AM one in Atlanta, Georgia at the
- 31:54Speaker 1: Four Seasons Hotel downtown and we had about maybe even
- 31:58Speaker 1: people show up very great and out, you know, for
- 32:01Speaker 1: our first one. And then the second one we had,
- 32:04Speaker 1: I AM Too was in Houston, Texas at the Marriott
- 32:07Speaker 1: Hotel in West Chase District in Houston, Texas, and um
- 32:11Speaker 1: it was about fourth dolland over four thousand people, you know,
- 32:15Speaker 1: and then the pandemic hit right after that. So now
- 32:19Speaker 1: you know, we've been able to finess our way into
- 32:22Speaker 1: the hard Rock Stadium, you know, where the Dolphins play
- 32:26Speaker 1: in Miami, Florida, and you know, we're expecting you know,
- 32:30Speaker 1: anywhere from fifteen thousand and twenty thousand people in attendance.
- 32:33Speaker 1: We're having performers like the Baby Uh come out and
- 32:37Speaker 1: give us entertainment as well as I'm actually performing on
- 32:41Speaker 1: on one of those days as well, which is something
- 32:43Speaker 1: I don't know if you you knew that I got
- 32:45Speaker 1: into music as well, but you know this, this is
- 32:48Speaker 1: gonna be a life changing event for not only people
- 32:50Speaker 1: that are there, but the people that have been looking
- 32:53Speaker 1: at this industry and at this lane of investing an
- 32:56Speaker 1: entrepreneurship and say wow, like maybe this is something I
- 32:59Speaker 1: should get and like it's becoming mainstream, Like your favorite
- 33:03Speaker 1: rappers and entertainers are now starting to become more you know,
- 33:07Speaker 1: more keen to to getting getting informed and getting educated
- 33:11Speaker 1: on this space. So I think it's it's well needed
- 33:14Speaker 1: because you know, the culture needs needs influencers and people
- 33:19Speaker 1: that are in the industry that that we look up
- 33:21Speaker 1: to to say, you know what this is the right
- 33:23Speaker 1: way to go. Learning how to invest is cool, Learning
- 33:25Speaker 1: about cryptocurrency is something that you need to take serious.
- 33:29Speaker 1: And so I'm truly excited for this event and I
- 33:31Speaker 1: know that it's gonna be the catalyst that takes me,
- 33:34Speaker 1: my organization, my family to the next level where you know,
- 33:36Speaker 1: you have me at rock Star the Baby you know
- 33:39Speaker 1: right there. But my staff they always laughing, Listen, that's
- 33:42Speaker 1: that's my song man, rock Star the Baby got in
- 33:44Speaker 1: performing and doing this thing, and that I would laughing
