- 0:01Speaker 1: So we won't just re elect our majorities this November.
- 0:04Speaker 1: We'll expose the corruption and radicalism of the Democrat Party.
- 0:08Speaker 1: It's a lunatic, it's a party of lunatics. Will defeat
- 0:11Speaker 1: the forces of national destruction, will complete our mission of
- 0:15Speaker 1: national renewal, and the Republican Party will grow larger, stronger,
- 0:19Speaker 1: and more dominant than ever before. We have a chance
- 0:22Speaker 1: to do that because we're competing against lunatics and the
- 0:26Speaker 1: public knows it, and they're seeing it every single day.
- 0:30Speaker 2: If you're listening to the forty seven Morning Update with
- 0:33Speaker 2: Ben ferguson.
- 0:34Speaker 3: Good Saturday morning. So nice to have you with us
- 0:36Speaker 3: on the forty seven Morning Update. And we've got a
- 0:38Speaker 3: big story for you. President Donald Trump goes to Memphis,
- 0:42Speaker 3: Tennessee to talk about a massive reduction in that liberal
- 0:46Speaker 3: city with crime statistics literally saving countless lives. So why
- 0:52Speaker 3: did the mayor in Memphis not show up? And why
- 0:55Speaker 3: are Democrats angry? The crime is being lowered all over
- 0:59Speaker 3: the country. President Trump gets involved. It's forty seven Morning
- 1:03Speaker 3: Update and it starts right now. Story number one crime
- 1:07Speaker 3: in America. It is dropping and it's not happening by accident.
- 1:12Speaker 3: It's happening because for the first time in years, there
- 1:15Speaker 3: is a present in the White House who made one
- 1:17Speaker 3: thing clear from day one. We're going to go back
- 1:21Speaker 3: to policing. We are going to enforce the laws that
- 1:25Speaker 3: we have on the books, and we're going to take
- 1:28Speaker 3: our streets back so that all Americans can feel safe. Now,
- 1:32Speaker 3: let's talk facts, because the numbers are truly incredible and
- 1:36Speaker 3: they don't lie. Across the country, major cities are reporting
- 1:41Speaker 3: double digit drops and violent crime in many liberal metro areas.
- 1:47Speaker 3: Homicides are down significantly from their recent peaks, property crime
- 1:52Speaker 3: stabilizing after years of spikes in some cities. We're seeing
- 1:56Speaker 3: murder rates down ten to twenty percent year over year.
- 2:01Speaker 3: Shootings are declining as targeted enforcement is ramped up under
- 2:05Speaker 3: Trump's leadership, and law enforcement officials are pointing to some
- 2:09Speaker 3: very specific things that are allowing for all this to happen.
- 2:14Speaker 3: Number one, a shift in federal posture that all because
- 2:19Speaker 3: of the President. Also a shift in priorities from federal
- 2:23Speaker 3: law enforcement. And then the biggest part, a shift in
- 2:27Speaker 3: leadership from the White House all the way down. Now,
- 2:31Speaker 3: let's be honest, this didn't start in a vacuum for years,
- 2:35Speaker 3: we were told police should be cut back, enforcement should
- 2:38Speaker 3: be reduced, and criminals should be given more leniency and
- 2:42Speaker 3: more second, third, fourth, fifth, and six chances. What happened
- 2:47Speaker 3: under the Democrats plan. Crime surged, cities became less safe,
- 2:52Speaker 3: communities paid the price, and Americans lost their lives. Then
- 2:57Speaker 3: President Trump came in and flipped the script. From day one,
- 3:00Speaker 3: the Trump administration said we will always back the Blue.
- 3:04Speaker 3: That wasn't just a slogan, it literally became their policy.
- 3:09Speaker 3: Federal support for local police departments has increased. Prosecutors were
- 3:13Speaker 3: encouraged to pursue violent offenders aggressively, and repeat offenders were
- 3:18Speaker 3: targeted instead of being released. And just as important, police
- 3:22Speaker 3: morales started going back up in this country. When officers
- 3:26Speaker 3: know the White House had their back, they got to
- 3:29Speaker 3: do their jobs more efficiently and criminals knew it now.
- 3:33Speaker 3: Targeting the worst offenders was also part of the plan.
- 3:37Speaker 3: It was another major shift going after the most dangerous
- 3:40Speaker 3: criminals first, violent repeat offenders, gang members, drug traffickers, illegal
- 3:47Speaker 3: immigrants with hardcore criminal records. That is where ICE operations
- 3:52Speaker 3: and federal partnerships came into play. Instead of ignoring the problem,
- 3:56Speaker 3: the administration leaned in arresting thousands of high risk individuals,
- 4:01Speaker 3: removing threats from communities, sending a message that lawlessness will
- 4:05Speaker 3: not be tolerated. Now, Trump's message had always been simple
- 4:10Speaker 3: law and order. He ran on it, and President Trump
- 4:13Speaker 3: has been consistent saying we will not allow our cities
- 4:17Speaker 3: to be taken over by crime. And he's emphasized that
- 4:20Speaker 3: safety is not political, it's fundamental to a great country,
- 4:25Speaker 3: saying every American deserves to live in a safe community.
- 4:29Speaker 3: And that message is clearly resonating with many Americans who
- 4:33Speaker 3: are living in really high crime neighborhoods. To law enforcement,
- 4:38Speaker 3: the President said, hey, I got you, do your job.
- 4:40Speaker 3: We support you. And to the criminals, the President said,
- 4:44Speaker 3: the rules are being enforced again, so get ready because
- 4:47Speaker 3: we're coming for you. So is it working. Yes, crime
- 4:52Speaker 3: rates have dropped significantly. And if you want to look
- 4:55Speaker 3: at one example of that, look at what the President
- 4:58Speaker 3: did in Memphis, Tennessee on Monday. He said, we've fixed
- 5:03Speaker 3: the Memphis crime problem. That obviously is my hometown. And
- 5:07Speaker 3: President Trump declared on Monday that the crime problem has
- 5:11Speaker 3: been solved through the Memphis Safe Task Force. Now, Trump's
- 5:16Speaker 3: comments came during a Memphis Task Force roundtable, where he
- 5:20Speaker 3: highlighted high levels of crime in the city the year
- 5:23Speaker 3: he returned to the Oval office. Here's part of what
- 5:26Speaker 3: the President had to say.
- 5:28Speaker 1: But for years prior to our involvement, Memphis had become
- 5:31Speaker 1: known for something else, being the murder capital of the USA.
- 5:35Speaker 1: Then not a good title. It was averaging far more
- 5:38Speaker 1: than one murder per day, with a crime rate higher
- 5:42Speaker 1: than Columbia, Mexico City, or Baghdad in the year I
- 5:46Speaker 1: shouldn't be saying this because but here's the good news.
- 5:49Speaker 1: It's been fixed, all right. I hate to say this
- 5:52Speaker 1: because it's so negative. That's so negative. In the year
- 5:56Speaker 1: before I took off his Memphis so more than twelve thousand,
- 6:00Speaker 1: five hundred violent assaults, four hundred and twenty nine rapes,
- 6:04Speaker 1: and seven thousand, six hundred burglaries and armed romney roberts.
- 6:08Speaker 1: And I mean, it was and getting worse. This catastrophe
- 6:12Speaker 1: was a result of years of local politicians, judges, and
- 6:17Speaker 1: prosecutors who sided with violent criminals over law abiding citizens.
- 6:22Speaker 3: Over law abiding citizens. It was an average far more
- 6:26Speaker 3: than one murder per day. That is what the people
- 6:30Speaker 3: at Memphis were dealing with. With a crime rate higher
- 6:32Speaker 3: than Columbia, Mexico City, or even Baghdad. That's something that
- 6:38Speaker 3: the media never wanted you to know. He said. Crime
- 6:42Speaker 3: levels were the products of years of local politicians, judges,
- 6:47Speaker 3: and prosecutors who sided with the violent criminals over the
- 6:51Speaker 3: law abiding citizens. Fox thirteen Memphis report on March eighteenth
- 6:56Speaker 3: that overall crime in the city is down forty three
- 7:00Speaker 3: percent compared to the same period in twenty twenty five,
- 7:04Speaker 3: before Trump instituted the Task Force. Meanwhile, the White House
- 7:09Speaker 3: shared figures Monday underscoring the stark drop in specific crime categories.
- 7:15Speaker 3: Motor vehicle thefts down sixty seven percent, robberies in Memphis
- 7:20Speaker 3: down fifty one percent, sexual assaults down thirty eight percent,
- 7:25Speaker 3: homicides are down thirty five percent, burglaries are down thirty
- 7:30Speaker 3: two percent, and aggravate assaults are down thirty one percent. Now,
- 7:35Speaker 3: Trump announced back in September efforts to crack down on
- 7:39Speaker 3: crime in Memphis on the heels of his immediate success
- 7:44Speaker 3: in dealing with crime in Washington, d c. On September fifteenth,
- 7:48Speaker 3: he signed a memo establishing the Memphis Task Force. And
- 7:52Speaker 3: what happened, well, it's truly incredible. The numbers don't lie.
- 7:57Speaker 3: Here's what the President had to say from the Oval
- 7:59Speaker 3: Office when he started this back in September.
- 8:02Speaker 4: Today, at the request of Governor Bill Lee of Tennessee,
- 8:07Speaker 4: who's standing with us, as you know, I'm signing a
- 8:10Speaker 4: Presidential memorandum to establish the Memphis Safe Task Force. And
- 8:16Speaker 4: it's very important because of the crime that's going on
- 8:19Speaker 4: not only in Memphis in many cities that we're going
- 8:21Speaker 4: to take care of all of them step by step,
- 8:24Speaker 4: just like we did in DC. We have virtually no
- 8:27Speaker 4: crime in DC right now, and we're going to keep
- 8:29Speaker 4: it that way. It's our nation's capital. We're going to
- 8:31Speaker 4: keep it that way. Or we're going to federalize it
- 8:33Speaker 4: if we had to, but we don't have to anymore
- 8:35Speaker 4: because it's in such great share. This task force will
- 8:39Speaker 4: be a replica of our extraordinarily successful efforts here, and
- 8:44Speaker 4: you'll see it's a lot of the same thing. Although
- 8:46Speaker 4: the numbers here are really something, they're really bad.
- 8:49Speaker 3: Now.
- 8:49Speaker 4: We did send FBI in about four months ago to
- 8:51Speaker 4: work and it brought some of the numbers down and
- 8:54Speaker 4: they did a great job, and we're sending in the
- 8:57Speaker 4: big force. Now.
- 8:58Speaker 3: You got to ask yourself this question. Why would the
- 9:01Speaker 3: President of United States of America do something like this
- 9:04Speaker 3: in liberal cities. It's because he truly believes that every
- 9:07Speaker 3: American has the right to be safe. He said. It's
- 9:12Speaker 3: very important because the crime that's going on not only
- 9:14Speaker 3: in Memphis, in many cities, and we're going to take
- 9:17Speaker 3: care of all of them step by step, just like
- 9:19Speaker 3: we did in DC. Trump said all of this as
- 9:22Speaker 3: he was standing by the Governor of Tennessee, Bill Lee,
- 9:26Speaker 3: Senator Marsha Blackburn, and Bill Haggerty. Making it clear that
- 9:29Speaker 3: we are moving forward. We have virtually no crime in
- 9:32Speaker 3: DC right now, the President reminded the country, and we're
- 9:36Speaker 3: going to keep it that way. He added, it's our
- 9:38Speaker 3: nation's capital. We're going to keep it that way, or
- 9:42Speaker 3: we're going to federalize it if we had to, but
- 9:46Speaker 3: we don't have to anymore because it's in such great
- 9:49Speaker 3: shape now. If you're an American and it doesn't matter
- 9:52Speaker 3: where you live right now, you should be proud of
- 9:55Speaker 3: the President United States of America pulling this off so
- 9:58Speaker 3: quickly from a meeting in the Oval Office in September
- 10:02Speaker 3: to massive reductions in crime come March. That is truly historic.
- 10:10Speaker 3: Usually this is something politicians say take years or multiple
- 10:15Speaker 3: election cycles. The President's doing it in a matter of months.
- 10:20Speaker 3: Why because the President said to law enforcement, we have
- 10:25Speaker 3: your back, do your job. And the President also made
- 10:30Speaker 3: it clear we're not leaving. We're going to continue to
- 10:34Speaker 3: be involved in Memphis and other cities, and there are
- 10:37Speaker 3: more cities that we're going to be targeting soon. So
- 10:40Speaker 3: Democrats can say all they want to that they hate
- 10:43Speaker 3: President Trump, but the American people, it's pretty clear they're
- 10:48Speaker 3: happy with what the President's doing right now.
