Transcript
- 0:01Speaker 1: Well, I want a dynamic country where private enterprise carries
- 0:05Speaker 1: the day, not the government. No matter what I do,
- 0:08Speaker 1: this group of people in front of us, I could
- 0:10Speaker 1: come up with the cure to the worst disease that
- 0:13Speaker 1: the world has ever seen. Like they'ing to sit there, angry,
- 0:16Speaker 1: insolent with cellar faces.
- 0:18Speaker 2: You're listening to the forty seven Morning Update with Ben Ferguson.
- 0:21Speaker 3: Good Monday morning, Ben Ferguson with you.
- 0:23Speaker 4: It's nice to have you on the forty seven Morning Update,
- 0:25Speaker 4: and we've got three big stories for you. First up,
- 0:28Speaker 4: Columbia University finding out that when you mess with Donald Trump,
- 0:33Speaker 4: there are real problems, and now their federal funding is gone.
- 0:36Speaker 4: Plus a student has been arrested that was a pro
- 0:40Speaker 4: Palestinian activist and he may even be deported. Up next,
- 0:44Speaker 4: Donald Trump comes out with a new jobs report showing
- 0:47Speaker 4: a massive gain for American workers and fewer jobs for
- 0:51Speaker 4: foreign born workers.
- 0:53Speaker 3: What does this mean for you? I'll explain it in
- 0:55Speaker 3: a moment.
- 0:55Speaker 4: And finally Donald Trump says, let's make a deal, making
- 1:00Speaker 4: a new play for Greenland to come into the US.
- 1:04Speaker 3: It's the forty seven Morning Update and it starts right now.
- 1:07Speaker 4: Story number one I want to take you back to
- 1:10Speaker 4: May sixth of twenty twenty four. Donald Trump was speaking
- 1:13Speaker 4: outside of the criminal trial in New York City. Remember
- 1:17Speaker 4: when he was forced to do those daily little quick
- 1:19Speaker 4: briefings before he was forced into the courtroom, when law
- 1:22Speaker 4: Fair was all over, Donald.
- 1:24Speaker 3: Trump trying to take him out of the presential race.
- 1:27Speaker 4: He was still laser focused then about the radicalization on
- 1:30Speaker 4: our college campuses, including at Columbia University.
- 1:35Speaker 3: And this is what he had to say in the
- 1:36Speaker 3: summer of twenty twenty four.
- 1:38Speaker 1: Now it just came out Columbia just canceled their commenser.
- 1:41Speaker 1: Actually US Columbia just canceled their commenser.
- 1:44Speaker 3: That shouldn't happen.
- 1:46Speaker 1: And it also came out that the protesters, many of
- 1:50Speaker 1: the protesters are back by Biden showners. Okay, are you
- 1:56Speaker 1: listening Israel? Hek you listening Israel hoping getting spot But
- 2:00Speaker 1: they're backed by bike donors. That's where the money's coming from.
- 2:04Speaker 4: That's where the money's coming from. The President made it
- 2:07Speaker 4: clear that if he was elected again, he was going
- 2:10Speaker 4: to hold these universities accountable for not stopping the anti
- 2:14Speaker 4: Semitic protests and violent protests and threats against students. Well,
- 2:19Speaker 4: the president is now paying off on that promise. Donald
- 2:22Speaker 4: Trump cuts more than four hundred million dollars in grants
- 2:27Speaker 4: to Columbia over anti semitism concerns, and potentially there are
- 2:32Speaker 4: more cuts to come.
- 2:33Speaker 3: That's right.
- 2:34Speaker 4: The Trump administration announcing that it will resind more than
- 2:38Speaker 4: four hundred million in federal grants to Columbia University, setting
- 2:41Speaker 4: concerns over the rising anti semitism on campus and the
- 2:44Speaker 4: school's failure to address it. Earlier this week, the Department
- 2:47Speaker 4: of Health and Human Services and the US General Services Administration,
- 2:52Speaker 4: as well as the Education Department, announced the initiation of
- 2:56Speaker 4: a quote comprehensive review of more than five billion in
- 3:01Speaker 4: federal grant money that goes to Colombia. Why on earth
- 3:04Speaker 4: are we spending five billion dollars to Colombia is the
- 3:07Speaker 4: question you should be asking right now. By the way,
- 3:09Speaker 4: and in light of ongoing investigations for potential violations, they
- 3:13Speaker 4: said of the Civil Rights Act related to anti semitism
- 3:17Speaker 4: on campus, all of the funding will be under review.
- 3:21Speaker 3: Quote.
- 3:21Speaker 4: It has only been four days since the Trump administration
- 3:24Speaker 4: announced the review, but the agencies have already begun slashing
- 3:28Speaker 4: the funds. Sources familiar with the matter, who asked to
- 3:30Speaker 4: remain anonymous, said that more than four er million in
- 3:33Speaker 4: federal grants from AHHS and the DOED will be rescinded
- 3:37Speaker 4: from Colombia as a result of the anti semitism that
- 3:41Speaker 4: is continuing, they believe on campus. Now, as the review
- 3:45Speaker 4: of Columbia's grant dollars continues, additional federal funding could be
- 3:49Speaker 4: rescinded as well. But that's not all that Donald Trump
- 3:52Speaker 4: is doing to make good on his promise. We now
- 3:55Speaker 4: know that Ice has arrested a radical pro Palacinian activit
- 4:00Speaker 4: at Columbia University and he may now face deportation. In fact,
- 4:05Speaker 4: Secretary of State Marco Rubio just issued a new statement
- 4:09Speaker 4: after the Trump administration arrested the activists, and he said
- 4:13Speaker 4: this quote, we will be revoking the visas and or
- 4:18Speaker 4: green cards of Hamas supporters in America so they can
- 4:23Speaker 4: be deported. This goes back to the saying that seems
- 4:26Speaker 4: to becoming a trend with this administration FAFO. And not
- 4:30Speaker 4: only did President Trump cut the four hundred million in funding,
- 4:33Speaker 4: but as he said and warned on the campaign trail,
- 4:36Speaker 4: if you are a guest in this country and we've
- 4:39Speaker 4: allowed you to come study in America, and you are
- 4:42Speaker 4: a active violent protester, we will get you out of
- 4:46Speaker 4: this country. Now, there's also word that this may not
- 4:50Speaker 4: be the only student who is arrested as a pro
- 4:53Speaker 4: Palacinian activist. In fact, they say they're not just setting
- 4:56Speaker 4: an example, but they are actually going after individuals that
- 5:00Speaker 4: are doing violence on college campuses. So at the end
- 5:03Speaker 4: of the day, Donald trump promises became a reality that
- 5:07Speaker 4: if you are one of those that is doing harm
- 5:10Speaker 4: and you're not from the US on an American campus,
- 5:13Speaker 4: get the hell out. And as for Columbia University, good
- 5:17Speaker 4: luck finding four hundred million dollars somewhere else as you're
- 5:21Speaker 4: not protecting Jewish students on campus. Next story number two,
- 5:25Speaker 4: putting Americans First. What a novel idea, yet it's something
- 5:28Speaker 4: that shocked so many Americans as Donald Trump was running
- 5:31Speaker 4: for president. Well, he's paying off on that promise with
- 5:33Speaker 4: a new jobs report showing two hundred and eighty four
- 5:36Speaker 4: thousand more Americans are working and eighty seven thousand fewer
- 5:42Speaker 4: foreign born workers are working. That is a big change
- 5:46Speaker 4: from the Biden administration to the Trump policy, which is
- 5:49Speaker 4: to put Americans first. The President announcing this from the
- 5:52Speaker 4: Oval Office, and here is what he had to say.
- 5:56Speaker 1: Native born Americans. For the first time in fifteen months,
- 6:00Speaker 1: the job gains for native born Americans, for American people,
- 6:04Speaker 1: people born in America, exceeded job gains for migrant and
- 6:08Speaker 1: foreign born workers. This is the first time that's happened
- 6:12Speaker 1: in more than fifteen months. Employment for native born workers
- 6:16Speaker 1: went up by two hundred and eighty four thousand, while
- 6:19Speaker 1: foreign born workers went down by eighty seven thousand. Now,
- 6:23Speaker 1: you know, you've heard the same stat where foreign workers
- 6:26Speaker 1: were taking up all the jobs or almost all the jobs,
- 6:29Speaker 1: in some cases literally all of the jobs. And now
- 6:34Speaker 1: it's two hundred and eighty four thousand native born jobs here,
- 6:39Speaker 1: people born in our country two hundred and eighty four thousand. Well,
- 6:43Speaker 1: foreign born workers went down by eighty seven thousand. First
- 6:46Speaker 1: time that's happened in a long time. So these are
- 6:48Speaker 1: incredible numbers, and they're they're very early. I mean, you know,
- 6:53Speaker 1: we're here for five weeks, but we have been talking
- 6:56Speaker 1: about it since the big win in November fifth. So
- 7:01Speaker 1: a lot of these people they listened to or speak
- 7:04Speaker 1: and they say, well, I'm going to gear up and
- 7:06Speaker 1: they're gearing up, and so they've been gearing up. They've
- 7:07Speaker 1: had a little time. It's not just it's not just
- 7:10Speaker 1: five weeks. It's five weeks plus a few months now.
- 7:12Speaker 4: The part of the story that the mainstream media does
- 7:14Speaker 4: not want you to understand is this is a direct
- 7:17Speaker 4: change in an administrative position from the White House that
- 7:21Speaker 4: caused this massive amount of Americans to get employment while
- 7:25Speaker 4: foreign workers employment went down.
- 7:28Speaker 3: How do we know this well.
- 7:29Speaker 4: President Joe Biden's economic policies literally invited migrants to take
- 7:34Speaker 4: almost five million jobs that would otherwise have gone to
- 7:38Speaker 4: five million Americans. That's what they referred to as the
- 7:42Speaker 4: replacement strategy. Cut American wages and workplace investment, and that
- 7:47Speaker 4: did a lot of damage to Americans. And the reason
- 7:50Speaker 4: why they did it is because they wanted to bring
- 7:52Speaker 4: in people from overseas to undermine Americans. Why because they
- 7:56Speaker 4: wanted to bring into legal immigrants as well, and that
- 7:59Speaker 4: was part of their strategy to replace you with foreign workers.
- 8:02Speaker 4: But there was also another part of this plan from
- 8:05Speaker 4: the Biden administration. It was also to boost employment numbers.
- 8:09Speaker 4: It left you out of those numbers as Americans were
- 8:11Speaker 4: being sidelined. Five million of you were being sidelined and
- 8:15Speaker 4: put at the back of the employment line. Yet the
- 8:19Speaker 4: President was claiming that things were great in this country.
- 8:22Speaker 3: Well, now, Donald Trump's.
- 8:24Speaker 4: Good data that was released by the Bureau of Labor
- 8:26Speaker 4: Statistics is showing that Americans are being put back at
- 8:30Speaker 4: the front of the line, and they expect these numbers
- 8:33Speaker 4: to get even better. So the good news is, if
- 8:36Speaker 4: you're an American, you now have a president that's fighting
- 8:39Speaker 4: for you to get a great paying American job.
- 8:42Speaker 2: And here is story number three.
- 8:43Speaker 4: It was an idea that Donald Trump said and many laughed,
- 8:47Speaker 4: the idea that Greenland would become a part of America. Well,
- 8:50Speaker 4: Donald Trump seems to be really focused on this becoming
- 8:54Speaker 4: a reality. In fact, that the State of the Union
- 8:56Speaker 4: less than a week ago, the President said this, and I.
- 9:00Speaker 1: Have a message tonight for the incredible people of Greenland.
- 9:04Speaker 1: We strongly support your right to determine your own future,
- 9:08Speaker 1: and if you choose, we welcome you into the United
- 9:10Speaker 1: States of America. We need Greenland for national security and
- 9:15Speaker 1: even international security, and we're working with everybody involved to
- 9:19Speaker 1: try and get it. But we need it really for
- 9:21Speaker 1: international world security, and I think we're going to get
- 9:24Speaker 1: it one way or the other.
- 9:26Speaker 3: We're going to get it.
- 9:29Speaker 1: We will keep you safe, we will make you rich,
- 9:32Speaker 1: and together we will take Greenland to heights like you
- 9:35Speaker 1: have never thought possible before. It's a very small population,
- 9:40Speaker 1: but very very large piece of land and very very
- 9:43Speaker 1: important for military security.
- 9:46Speaker 4: Well, now we know that President Trump had a lot
- 9:48Speaker 4: more you want to say than just those words that
- 9:50Speaker 4: say of the Union. Now President Trump is vowing to
- 9:52Speaker 4: quote invest billions into Greenland and to create new jobs
- 9:57Speaker 4: if greenland Ers decide to join the United States, adding
- 10:00Speaker 4: that they would be very welcome.
- 10:02Speaker 3: Quote.
- 10:02Speaker 4: As I made clear during my joint address to Congress,
- 10:04Speaker 4: the United States strongly supports the people of Greenland's right
- 10:07Speaker 4: to determine their own future. We will continue to keep
- 10:11Speaker 4: you safe. He went on to say, as we have
- 10:14Speaker 4: since World War Two. We are ready to invest billions
- 10:17Speaker 4: of dollars to create new jobs and make you rich,
- 10:20Speaker 4: and if you so choose, we welcome you to be
- 10:23Speaker 4: a part of the greatest nation anywhere in the world,
- 10:26Speaker 4: the United States of America. Now the left is freaking out,
- 10:30Speaker 4: and they're also helping with the media coverage. As Greenland's
- 10:34Speaker 4: Prime minister responded to Trump's statement from earlier this year
- 10:37Speaker 4: saying that Greenland is quote not for sale and would
- 10:40Speaker 4: never be for sale. That is what they said to
- 10:43Speaker 4: The Guardian at the time, saying Greenland is ours, we
- 10:46Speaker 4: are not for sale and will never be for sale.
- 10:47Speaker 4: We must not lose our long struggle for quote freedom.
- 10:50Speaker 4: The President made it very clear he's not trying to
- 10:53Speaker 4: quote by the country. He is, however, saying to the
- 10:57Speaker 4: people that if you want to become a part of
- 10:59Speaker 4: America and make sure that you're safe, we'd love to
- 11:02Speaker 4: have you. Now, why is the Prime Minister of Greenland
- 11:05Speaker 4: against this because it means that he would lose a
- 11:07Speaker 4: lot of power.
- 11:08Speaker 3: And the media.
- 11:09Speaker 4: Also wants to make sure that Donald Trump fails so
- 11:11Speaker 4: they can laugh in his face, just as the Democrats
- 11:14Speaker 4: are laughing when the President brought up Greenland during the
- 11:16Speaker 4: State of the Union. But it's very obvious now that
- 11:19Speaker 4: the President has a long term plan to get this done.
- 11:22Speaker 4: And let's be honest, Donald Trump is the master of
- 11:25Speaker 4: well the art of the deal.
