- 0:02Speaker 1: Cars of the of Ice and Border Patrol by a
- 0:05Speaker 1: past administration, it became almost a culture. If somebody throws
- 0:09Speaker 1: a rocket, you do nothing. If somebody spits in your face,
- 0:13Speaker 1: do nothing. And I say, would they spit? You hit?
- 0:17Speaker 1: Do whatever you want.
- 0:18Speaker 2: You're listening to the forty seven Morning Update with Ben ferguson.
- 0:21Speaker 3: Good Thursday morning.
- 0:23Speaker 4: Nice to have you with us on the forty seven
- 0:24Speaker 4: Morning Update, and we've got two big stories for you
- 0:27Speaker 4: coming out of the White House. First up, President Trump
- 0:30Speaker 4: is declared that Antifa is a major terrorist organization.
- 0:35Speaker 3: What does this mean, Well, it's.
- 0:37Speaker 4: Going to have a big impact on those that are
- 0:39Speaker 4: funding the organization and finding out who they are. Also, finally,
- 0:46Speaker 4: Fed cuts rates by a quarter percent, signaling two more
- 0:51Speaker 4: cuts will be coming this year. And it means that
- 0:55Speaker 4: Donald Trump was right. Interest rates were far too high
- 0:58Speaker 4: and now the Fed's only having to admit it. All right,
- 1:02Speaker 4: I want to take a moment and I want to
- 1:03Speaker 4: talk to you real quick about what you can do
- 1:06Speaker 4: to help the people in Israel. It was nearly two
- 1:10Speaker 4: years ago that the terrorists murdered more than twelve hundred
- 1:14Speaker 4: innocent Israelis and they took two hundred and fifty hostages.
- 1:18Speaker 4: Today it seems as if the cries of the dead
- 1:20Speaker 4: and dying have been drowned out by the shouts of
- 1:23Speaker 4: anti Semitism and just pure hatred, not just in America
- 1:26Speaker 4: but around the world. And the most brutal attack on
- 1:29Speaker 4: Jewish people happened. It happened since the Holocaust, and now
- 1:34Speaker 4: it's like they're trying to act like it never happened.
- 1:37Speaker 3: Now.
- 1:37Speaker 4: This is where it is important for us to stand
- 1:40Speaker 4: with the people in Israel. It's a movement of love
- 1:43Speaker 4: and support for the people of Israel, and this is
- 1:47Speaker 4: where I want you to get involved.
- 1:48Speaker 3: It is called Flags of Fellowship.
- 1:51Speaker 4: It's being organized by the International Fellowship of Christians and Jews.
- 1:56Speaker 4: On October fifth, you can stand with Israel and the
- 2:00Speaker 4: victims proudly. Just a few weeks away, millions across America
- 2:06Speaker 4: will prayerfully plant an Israeli flag in honor and solidarity
- 2:10Speaker 4: with the victims of October seventh, twenty twenty three, and
- 2:15Speaker 4: stand with their grieving families. You can be a part
- 2:18Speaker 4: of this movement as well. And that's what I love
- 2:21Speaker 4: about what IFCJ does. They're making sure that the world
- 2:25Speaker 4: knows there are lots of people of faith in this
- 2:28Speaker 4: country and friends and advocates for Israel.
- 2:31Speaker 3: They're going to stand with them.
- 2:33Speaker 4: You can get more information about how you can join
- 2:35Speaker 4: the Flags of Fellowship movement, including your church. There are
- 2:40Speaker 4: going to be countless church around the country. They're going
- 2:42Speaker 4: to plant flags as well. So all you have to
- 2:45Speaker 4: do to get involved with Flags of Fellowship movement is
- 2:48Speaker 4: go to IFCJ dot org. That's IFCJ dot org. Stand
- 2:55Speaker 4: with Israel on October the fifth, it's just a few
- 2:57Speaker 4: weeks away.
- 2:58Speaker 3: And if your church you think would.
- 2:59Speaker 4: Want to be involved, you can also find out more
- 3:01Speaker 4: about how to get your church to be involved on
- 3:04Speaker 4: a special Sunday at IFCJ dot org. That's if CJ
- 3:10Speaker 4: dot org. It's the forty seven Morning Update and it
- 3:13Speaker 4: starts right now.
- 3:14Speaker 2: Story number one.
- 3:15Speaker 4: President Donald Trump has declared that he is designating the
- 3:19Speaker 4: Antifa movement as a major terrorist organization. He also stated
- 3:25Speaker 4: he will recommend that people or organizations funding Antifa be
- 3:30Speaker 4: strongly investigated under the highest legal standards in practices now.
- 3:36Speaker 4: This announcement came in the wake of the assassination of
- 3:39Speaker 4: conservative activist Charlie Kirk, which Trump and his allies say
- 3:42Speaker 4: underscores the need to address what they characterize as left
- 3:47Speaker 4: wing extremism. Now Antifa, you may ask what is it,
- 3:51Speaker 4: They say, it's anti fascists. It's not a single group
- 3:55Speaker 4: or a with a hierarchy structure. In fact, it's a
- 3:58Speaker 4: loosely affiliated ideology where people all the time are saying
- 4:02Speaker 4: I'm a member of Antifa and then carrying out many
- 4:05Speaker 4: times criminal activities. Now, because of the decentralization of it,
- 4:09Speaker 4: there's no clear chain of command, which means you have
- 4:13Speaker 4: to actually follow the money, because without formal membership lists
- 4:18Speaker 4: or centralized leadership, you got to find out who is
- 4:22Speaker 4: funding Antifa and who on the left is writing the
- 4:25Speaker 4: checks for so many of the things that they actually do. Now,
- 4:28Speaker 4: there are several significant legal obstacles to make this kind
- 4:32Speaker 4: of designation meaningful and also enforceable, and that's exactly what
- 4:37Speaker 4: the President is doing right now. In fact, if you
- 4:41Speaker 4: want to know when this really became a reality, you
- 4:44Speaker 4: can go to the White House in the Oval Office.
- 4:46Speaker 4: Just two days ago, when the President was asked this
- 4:50Speaker 4: question about Antifa and what it would mean to designate
- 4:55Speaker 4: them a terrorist organization from a member of the press.
- 4:58Speaker 3: Take a listen, do.
- 5:00Speaker 1: You plan on designating it's family a domestic terriborganization. Well,
- 5:05Speaker 1: it's something I would do. Yeah, if I have support
- 5:08Speaker 1: from the people back here. I think would start with PAM,
- 5:11Speaker 1: I think, but I would if you give me, I
- 5:13Speaker 1: would do that one hundred percent. And others also, by
- 5:16Speaker 1: the way, but Antifa is terrible. There are other groups. Yeah,
- 5:21Speaker 1: there are other groups. We have some pretty radical groups
- 5:23Speaker 1: and they got away with murder. And also I've been
- 5:26Speaker 1: speaking to the Attorney General about bringing RICO against some
- 5:30Speaker 1: of the people that you've been reading about that have
- 5:32Speaker 1: been putting up millions and millions of dollars for agitation.
- 5:36Speaker 1: These aren't protests, these are crimes what they're doing where
- 5:39Speaker 1: they're throwing bricks at cars of the of Ice and
- 5:43Speaker 1: Border Patrol and they come in a beautiful new car.
- 5:46Speaker 1: They're so proud it's Border Patrol Ice. You know, it's
- 5:48Speaker 1: got whatever it is, and they're throwing rocks at it,
- 5:52Speaker 1: and after fifty yards it looks like an old beat
- 5:54Speaker 1: up vehicle. It was just brand new. It's just bought
- 5:57Speaker 1: for the purposes. And they don't have to take that anymore.
- 6:00Speaker 1: Be known will take responsibility. They don't have to take
- 6:03Speaker 1: it anymore, and they don't want to take it. I
- 6:06Speaker 1: watched it. I watched it so sick it made me
- 6:09Speaker 1: for four years. I had to sit oh and watch
- 6:11Speaker 1: people screaming at policemen and spitting in their face and
- 6:16Speaker 1: they weren't able to do anything. They just had to
- 6:18Speaker 1: grin and beard. They're standing up like a piece of steel.
- 6:22Speaker 5: And the woman.
- 6:24Speaker 1: In many cases women, you can see their professional agitators.
- 6:27Speaker 1: I had one the other night. I had four the
- 6:29Speaker 1: other night, all in one group, total phonies. I started
- 6:32Speaker 1: to scream when I got into a restaurant, Oh, you
- 6:34Speaker 1: know something with Palestine, And I said, well, I'm doing
- 6:37Speaker 1: a great job for peace in the Middle East.
- 6:39Speaker 3: I should get lots.
- 6:40Speaker 1: Of awards for that, with the Abraham Accords and everything else.
- 6:44Speaker 1: But a woman just stood up and start screaming, and
- 6:47Speaker 1: she got booed out of the place too. The people.
- 6:49Speaker 1: There were a lot of people in the restaurant. I
- 6:51Speaker 1: went there to show how safe.
- 6:52Speaker 3: And it was safe.
- 6:52Speaker 1: I mean a woman, it's just a mouthpiece, or she
- 6:55Speaker 1: washes a paid shoes, a paid agitator, and you have
- 6:58Speaker 1: a lot of them. I've asked Pam to look into
- 7:01Speaker 1: that in terms of bringing RICO cases against the criminal
- 7:04Speaker 1: RICO because they should be put in jail. What they're
- 7:07Speaker 1: doing to this country is really a subversive.
- 7:13Speaker 3: That is where all of this really got started.
- 7:16Speaker 4: Now Here is the best part about what this means
- 7:19Speaker 4: moving forward. The consequences of this action on Antifa are huge.
- 7:25Speaker 4: This will now allow the US government to increase investigations
- 7:28Speaker 4: into individuals or entities that are believed to provide support
- 7:33Speaker 4: to Antifa aka money and logistics supplies. Trump specifically asks
- 7:39Speaker 4: for these types of investigations. It also allows for potential
- 7:42Speaker 4: executive orders, regulations, policy changes aimed at curbing political violence
- 7:48Speaker 4: or hate speech associated with Antifa. And then there's the
- 7:51Speaker 4: possible legal or administrative sanctions for those found to be
- 7:56Speaker 4: a material support of Antifa if state or federal law
- 8:00Speaker 4: can be invoked. This is where there is real consequences
- 8:04Speaker 4: for people that are involved with this radical organization, and
- 8:08Speaker 4: you need to find out who is exactly funding them.
- 8:11Speaker 4: Follow the money is everything here. Now we can also
- 8:15Speaker 4: expect legal challenges groups like the ACLU and the SPLC.
- 8:20Speaker 4: They're going to argue that the designation violates constitutional protection
- 8:24Speaker 4: free assembly, free speech, due process, and then the courts
- 8:28Speaker 4: are going to have to interpret what designating a terrorist
- 8:31Speaker 4: organization means in this context. I think this is clearly
- 8:34Speaker 4: a fight the White House is more than happy to have.
- 8:37Speaker 4: And then there's the political polarization of this. Democrats are already
- 8:41Speaker 4: coming out and saying that this is a threat.
- 8:43Speaker 3: To free speech. So let's go back.
- 8:46Speaker 4: To the President and what he actually had to say
- 8:48Speaker 4: after designating Antifa a terrorist organization. Here's how CNN put
- 8:53Speaker 4: it as they had to read the president's words.
- 8:56Speaker 6: Now, i don't know if you know this, but I've
- 8:58Speaker 6: just seen that the as on a social media on
- 9:01Speaker 6: a social media's announced I'm pleased to inform our many
- 9:04Speaker 6: USA patriots that I'm designating Antifa, a sick, dangerous radical
- 9:08Speaker 6: left organization, as a major terrorist organization. I'll also be
- 9:12Speaker 6: strongly recommending that those funding Antifa be thoroughly investigated in
- 9:15Speaker 6: accordance with the highest legal standards and practices.
- 9:19Speaker 4: They can't stand the fact that radical organizations that are
- 9:24Speaker 4: out there being funded by dark money from democratic donors,
- 9:27Speaker 4: that are then committing crimes and terrorizing the public are
- 9:31Speaker 4: no longer going to be able to operate the way
- 9:33Speaker 4: they were under the Biden administration. And by the way,
- 9:36Speaker 4: This is exactly why I voted for Donald Trump, and
- 9:39Speaker 4: I think so many of you did as well.
- 9:41Speaker 2: Now, story number two.
- 9:42Speaker 4: Donald Trump has repeatedly urged the FED to cut interest
- 9:46Speaker 4: rates more aggressively. For example, in June of this year,
- 9:49Speaker 4: he called for a full percentage point drop. Also, he
- 9:53Speaker 4: said the rates are at least three percentage points too high. Now,
- 9:57Speaker 4: Trump had criticized the Fed, especially the chair Jerome Powell,
- 10:02Speaker 4: for not cutting sooner or more deeply. He made it
- 10:05Speaker 4: very clear he believed that the cuts need to come
- 10:07Speaker 4: and it was holding the economy back. He even talked
- 10:10Speaker 4: about the idea that it was time to get rid
- 10:12Speaker 4: of Jerome Powell, that he should resign. Well, Jerome is
- 10:15Speaker 4: still there. But the good news is finally the Feds
- 10:19Speaker 4: have cut interest rates by a quarter percentage point. And
- 10:22Speaker 4: here's how the news hit on CNN.
- 10:25Speaker 6: Tell us about this decision.
- 10:26Speaker 5: Matt, Yeah, Brianna, the Fed just delivered an interest rate cut,
- 10:30Speaker 5: and it is the quarter point cut that was widely expected. Now,
- 10:34Speaker 5: this is a big deal because it is the first
- 10:36Speaker 5: interest rate cut of the second Trump administration, and it's
- 10:39Speaker 5: sending a clear message that Federals of officials are more
- 10:43Speaker 5: worried about the slumping job market than they are about
- 10:47Speaker 5: stubborn inflation.
- 10:49Speaker 3: They're acting now.
- 10:50Speaker 5: To try to shore up the job market before this
- 10:54Speaker 5: trouble turns into something worse, and they're signaling this concern
- 10:58Speaker 5: in their new statement that they just put out by
- 11:00Speaker 5: inserting some new language that I'll read to you now.
- 11:03Speaker 5: FED officials say that job gains have slowed and the
- 11:06Speaker 5: unemployment rate has edged up but remains low. FED officials
- 11:11Speaker 5: also say that they have judged that downside risks to
- 11:16Speaker 5: employment have risen now. At the same time, this statement
- 11:19Speaker 5: also says that inflation has moved up and remains somewhat elevated,
- 11:25Speaker 5: which just gets at this really difficult situation facing the
- 11:29Speaker 5: FED where they're really trying to fight the two front war, right,
- 11:31Speaker 5: they're trying to fix the job market and they're trying
- 11:34Speaker 5: to defeat inflation at the same time. It is really difficult.
- 11:38Speaker 2: Now.
- 11:38Speaker 5: As far as the voting here, this was actually almost unanimous.
- 11:42Speaker 5: It was an eleven to one vote, with FED Chair
- 11:44Speaker 5: Jerome Powell joined by ten of his colleagues, including FED
- 11:49Speaker 5: Governor Lisa Cook, who the President has.
- 11:51Speaker 3: Tried to fire.
- 11:52Speaker 5: The one dissenter is the Federal Reserve's newest member. That's
- 11:56Speaker 5: Stephen Myron, the Trump loyalist and White House economists. Not surprisingly,
- 12:01Speaker 5: he was in favor of a bigger cut of half
- 12:04Speaker 5: of a percentage point. Now, looking forward, the key change
- 12:08Speaker 5: with the FEDS projections is they're now penciling in a
- 12:11Speaker 5: total of three interest rate cuts this year. Today's and
- 12:16Speaker 5: two more quarter point cuts. Now that's a shift from
- 12:18Speaker 5: June when Fed officials had previously just penciled in two
- 12:22Speaker 5: interest rate cuts. Now, what does all this mean to
- 12:25Speaker 5: everyone at home? Well, the fact that rates have come
- 12:28Speaker 5: down that could be helpful for people who have credit
- 12:30Speaker 5: card debt and people have floating rate debt like home
- 12:33Speaker 5: equity lines of credit. But we should be clear, this
- 12:36Speaker 5: is not a silver bullet that's going to fix the economy.
- 12:39Speaker 5: Interest rates do remain high. The Fed spiked interest rates
- 12:44Speaker 5: three years ago to try to fight inflation. That amounts
- 12:47Speaker 5: it to slamming the brakes on the economy. Now they're
- 12:50Speaker 5: not going pedal to the metal and hitting the gas.
- 12:52Speaker 5: They're sort of gradually taking their foot off the break. Now,
- 12:56Speaker 5: later this hour, Fed show drum Powell, he's gonna take questions.
- 12:59Speaker 5: I'm interested to hear what he's going to say about
- 13:01Speaker 5: all of the pressure, the political pressure from the White
- 13:04Speaker 5: House on federers of officials, and how many more interest
- 13:08Speaker 5: rates he expects to have in the coming months.
- 13:11Speaker 4: Becky breeng I love how they're like, well, this could
- 13:14Speaker 4: be good for Americans. This is going to be massive,
- 13:17Speaker 4: by the way, for Americans, And this is exactly what
- 13:19Speaker 4: the President has been advocating for, saying that we need
- 13:22Speaker 4: to move this in the right direction. We also know
- 13:24Speaker 4: from what was said by Powell that you can expect
- 13:27Speaker 4: that there is a very good chance that more cuts
- 13:30Speaker 4: could be coming on the regular.
- 13:33Speaker 3: So is this a victory for all Americans? Yes?
- 13:37Speaker 4: Is this a big victory for the fact that Jerome
- 13:39Speaker 4: Powell said it the way that he described it. Yes,
- 13:42Speaker 4: is it something that we should all celebrate. You better
- 13:45Speaker 4: believe it. Jerome Powell in his own words.
- 13:48Speaker 6: Under what circumstances would a larger than twenty five basis
- 13:51Speaker 6: points rate cup be warranted?
- 13:53Speaker 7: And how seriously was that option entertained at your meeting
- 13:56Speaker 7: this week? There wasn't widespread support at all for fifty
- 14:00Speaker 7: basis point cut today. You know, I think we've done
- 14:03Speaker 7: We've done very large rate hikes and very large rate
- 14:05Speaker 7: cuts in the last five years, and you tend to
- 14:08Speaker 7: do those at a time when you feel that policy
- 14:12Speaker 7: is out of place and needs to move quickly to
- 14:15Speaker 7: a new place. That's not at all what I feel
- 14:17Speaker 7: certainly now. I feel like our policy has been doing
- 14:20Speaker 7: the right thing so far this year. I think we
- 14:22Speaker 7: were right to wait and see how tariffs and inflation
- 14:25Speaker 7: and the labor market evolved. I think we're now reacting to,
- 14:30Speaker 7: you know, to the much lower level of job creation
- 14:32Speaker 7: and other evidence of softening in the labor market and saying, well,
- 14:35Speaker 7: those risks are maybe maybe not fully balanced, but moving
- 14:38Speaker 7: in the direction of balance now, and so that that
- 14:40Speaker 7: warrants a change in policy.
- 14:42Speaker 4: So even Jerome Powell having to admit he's probably gotten
- 14:46Speaker 4: it wrong for a while now, and he's having to
- 14:49Speaker 4: be honest that Donald Trump was right.
