- Todd: Welcome everyone to the wildly opinionated news hour, Todd's World, and I'm Todd and Carrie is sitting right next to me. Well, she's in Jacksonville, Florida, I'm in Michigan. But other than that, on your screen she's sitting right next to me. Look at that. What a fabulous thing. How you doing, Carrie? Yo, it's Carrie: Ha ha ha Hello. Woo. This is how we come together every week, almost. Every other week. I'm so great. How about you? Todd: Good. You know, that is the thing. I should tell I should tell people what what the plan is going forward. We we're gonna make a few changes ⁓ on Todd's World here, just to let everybody know. Some programming notes, as they say, in the biz. we're gonna right now we do Wildly Opinion Day News Hour, it drops every Tuesday, and then every Wednesday we drop Beers with Jesus, where we just go through stories of the Bible. ⁓ in addition to that, I have Todd's world dot net. Where you should go. We have all the books up, merch, all the stuff. But anyway, the books are fabulous. The books are I've got my memoir up, Leaves of Blue Away, which which is a great book. Audiobooks should be out hopefully sometime late summer. but we have audiobooks out for both Insurrection 1 and 2 and Witness 1. We have a series of of books on there that you're gonna find are just fabulous. But Yo, it's Carrie: Mm-hmm. Check out the books. Mm-hmm. Mm-hmm. Mm-hmm. So fun. Todd: Here's the deal. We are going to change and we're gonna take we're gonna change and start doing the wildly opinionated news hour. This very show is going to become a bi-weekly show. We're gonna do it every other week. Beers with Jesus is going to continue to be a weekly show. So Beers with Jesus will still be out every Wednesday. Every other Tuesday, you're gonna get a wildly opinionated news hour. And The reasons for this aren't because there isn't enough for us to talk about. It's not because I that we don't love doing this show. We do. It's fabulous. ⁓ but I really until until this until I'm getting from the books and the podcast enough financial support to kind of do this full time, I need to cut some things out because I really need to do more writing. I love writing. Yo, it's Carrie: Yeah. Mm-hmm. Todd: I have people ask me all the time when's the next witness book coming out? When's the next insurrection book coming out? And so I've just gotta I've gotta cut some someplace and then try to add, well, actually, more back in. But we're gonna so anyway, that's what we're gonna do. But we love while the opinionated news are. We know how important it is to you shaping all your thoughts and all your opinions. Yo, it's Carrie: Mm-hmm. So yeah. I know, I don't know what I'm gonna do without it every week. But every other week we'll be here for four hours every other week. Just kidding. Yeah. Todd: But every other week we'll still get ya. And then and then we we've got the show ready to go and as soon as you know we hit the next season where I've got a little more time, we're getting a little more revenue off the books and everything else, and I can focus more on on just Todd's world and not ⁓ how I have to eat and support myself. ⁓ Yo, it's Carrie: Not literally Todd's world, right? Todd: Then we can ramp right back up to weekly with wildly opinionated news hour. And there's nothing that stops us. If something comes up and we're like, hey, we this is our off week, but ⁓ my God, Trump has bombed Japan or whatever. I don't know. But chan I don't think that probably will happen much, but if something were to come up that we could always do that. And and we won't be Yo, it's Carrie: ⁓ no. We'd be like, ⁓ my gosh, mainstream media is reporting that Trump is the greatest president we've ever had. We would probably hop online for that. Todd: Right. But the greatest but the great thing is that it's all on Todd's World. Wherever you get so if you're on YouTube, if you're on Spotify, if you're on Apple, it's all Todd's World all the time. Subscribe, follow us, you'll get all of them. If we happen to pop up with an extra one, it'll pop right in your feed and you'll just it'll make your week. You'll be so excited. So anyway. So that's a little programming note going forward. I wanted to let everybody know about. So we will not have now next week. Yo, it's Carrie: Yeah, it'll be like a bonus, bonus episodes. Anyway. Todd: We're coming up into the July 4th weekend. ⁓ so natural next week, because we're doing news this week, we're gonna be off for news next week, but we are gonna do a beers with Jesus for next week. So the other thing about Beers with Jesus is they're little shorter. They're generally run 45 minutes. So ⁓ it's ⁓ although the prep on them honestly is a little longer, at least for me. ⁓ but that's ⁓ I I think you'll I get Beers with Jesus chance, you should love it. Yo, it's Carrie: Happy birthday. Mm-hmm. Todd: So anyway, that's our programming note. Today, I think Carrie, I'm gonna let you start the program out because Carrie Carrie is so excited about soccer. Yo, it's Carrie: Ooh, okay. Cause you just don't care. Todd: Apparently soccer now actually is a real sport. So Carrie has been keeping close watch on the World Cup for us. In fact, I even even got Carrie her own ⁓ World Cup update theme song. And well it's kind of a theme, it's it's on X, so there's there's a little video to go with it. So how d how long is is ⁓ Yo, it's Carrie: Wow. I hope this goes for a while. Okay. I hope this goes for a while. Todd: The World Cup going on. I don't even know. Yo, it's Carrie: Well, we we are now down to thirty two teams. We've ⁓ yeah. So I don't know. I don't know how long that goes. Goes and goes. It's single elimination. ⁓ no. I'm so afraid of this. Todd: Okay. It just goes and goes and goes, guys. All right, here is our World Cup update theme, guys. Yeah. Yo, it's Carrie: ⁓ my gosh. Thought you were gonna come up with something Thought you were gonna come up with something patriotic. Like Dan and Shay like Dan and Shay singing our national anthem or ⁓ my gosh. Todd: just missed that. I had to go ahead, carry. It was almost like that. I have missed that particular meme. I really have missed that. That was I I think that's Hall of Fame. That's a Hall of Fame meme. And actually, there's some news from the Supreme Court this week that relates to that. But anyway, World Cup update first, Carrie. What do you got? I've got a couple I I do have your you can lead into your ⁓ whatever Yo, it's Carrie: Felt like it was it was good. ⁓ okay. Okay, World Cup update. I'll give the quick, boring, actually like you know, athletic stats here. So we have ⁓ the United States has had two wins, one against ⁓ Paraguay and one against Australia. And we won our group. There are like twelve groups. Yes, in South America. It's it's real. It's it's real. And ⁓ Todd: Okay. Are we to assume Paraguay's a country? Okay. Alright. I sa just like to keep track. Thought it might be a town in Texas with a bunch of mosques. I don't know. Yo, it's Carrie: We no, we won ⁓ we won two games, ⁓ we dominated really, and then we were tied with the the last game this week, we were tied with ⁓ my gosh, I just forgot Turkey. And but Turkey scored at the last minute, so that wasn't actually a loss, so zero points. But despite the loss, we still won our group. That group of four. We came out on top. We're in a group of four. Todd: Turkey. Damn turkey. Whatever that means. Okay. Yo, it's Carrie: We're the group of four. So we are at the top. The top two move on. That's the United States and Australia. And if this drops on schedule on Tuesday, will be July first. Todd: Okay. What do you mean if? When have we not dropped on schedule? Yo, it's Carrie: just me I know you're very on schedule. I just I was just saying when we drop okay when we drop on Tuesday the game will be so it'll be tonight at eight o'clock Eastern United States versus Bosnia and Bosnia is combined with another country and I actually had to look up how to say this. Todd: Tonight. Is? Serbia? It's not that was the war, right? Was Bosnia and Serbia? Yo, it's Carrie: It's pr Yes, but the Bosnia and Serbia are not playing together. Bosnia, Bosnia, and Herzegovina. Herzegovina. Todd: ⁓ That's weird. I thought they were such good friends. We're to assume that's a country too? Yo, it's Carrie: I had not heard of it until we were teamed, you know, matched up against them. So on the on the bracket. So Bosnia-Herzegovina, that's who we play tonight. And now Herzegovina. Now we're on single elimination. So this is like we gotta, we gotta. If we lose, we're screwed. If we tie, I don't even know because I don't understand soccer that much. I'm just excited about this because. Todd: Herzegovina. Single elimination. So if we lose, we're screwed. Yo, it's Carrie: Because I love the America love among Americans, but also hearing from outsiders, like people visiting, foreigners visiting, the Europeans, the Japanese, they're visiting and they're just like losing their minds. Yeah, we're hosting because we're hosting. And everyone's so excited. And Todd's gonna play you a clip because it's a great ⁓ Todd: Mm. People are coming here to watch soccer. Okay. I Yo, it's Carrie: It's just a great collection. Yeah. Yeah, sorry. That's the only place I found this. It a good, concise, like compilation. Todd: I can't ⁓ I don't the TikTok's kinda weird. I can't ⁓ maximize this the screen, but here's TikTok. This is that that dude that has his ⁓ his gay lover friend on Facebook and they want 'cause they were up in Michigan, wander around talking about how great Michigan is. I say his gay lover. I don't even think they're gay. I think his friend just had a baby. Yo, it's Carrie: Mm mm. ⁓ yeah, they're just I think they're just buddies, but ⁓ yeah, this guy's funny. But the White House posted this one. It's I That might be, I'm not sure though. Todd: They're just friends. Is it Chase or Jace or Am I crazy that that's the name? You don't know the name. Okay, let's My My wife. You know, this is again something I would never care about, but foreigners came to Michigan and were all on Facebook about it, and my wife was one who was excited. I don't know why. But anyway, she lives with me. And yes, she gets excited. Anyway, I I I don't understand it. Here we go. Here's Carrie's clip. Maybe. Yo, it's Carrie: Well it's like you feel affirmation. It's like Todd: Where's our ⁓ it's on mute. Sorry guys. I ⁓ I so rarely use TikTok clips. Yo, it's Carrie: Everything's big. Todd: Costco. Yo, it's Carrie: Let's go. Todd: So they're eating ribs. Hold on guys. I I you know what? I forget. I gotta describe the video for people who are just listening. So all these these foreigners that you're hearing like Edelov, they're going to like Buckey's and like Walmart and Costco and they're seeing like a level of abundance, maybe is the right word. That that they haven't that maybe they don't have in their countries. Yo, it's Carrie: ⁓ okay. They're loving Buckies. Mm-hmm. Mm-hmm. Yeah. Cho choices and abundant choices. Yep. And the food. They're loving barbecue. Todd: And that and they've been lied to about America their whole life. So this guy right now is a Japanese tourist and he's trying Texas barbecue for the first time and he's terribly excited. Good job. There we are. Okay. I'm gonna stop shar well, did I stop sharing? I did. Okay. Yo, it's Carrie: Yeah. So they're like blown away by our stadiums and apparently they are not allowed to drink beer at like a sporting event. That's what Glenn Glenn Beck said somewhere. I I don't know if he was speaking, but they just they love that we can just like have a beer and everyone is being so welcoming to them and Todd: What? In Europe? Are you kidding? l listen. Go USA. Yo, it's Carrie: So go USA. Happy birthday, USA. Two fitty. Todd: So we're so people are loving America. It's our 250th anniversary coming up, right? Birthday. That's on that's next weekend, July 4th. So it in and there's a a bunch of big ⁓ to-dos at the White House, and I assume all over the country, right? For the 250th. Well, Carrie's theme song there, they're eating the cats, they're eating the dogs. Yo, it's Carrie: Love in America. Yep. Happy birthday. Mura Murica. Mm-hmm, probably. That is not American Todd: It's just right to right to a Supreme Court decision. Remember the ⁓ the the the whole the whole Haitian thing in Springfield, Ohio, and this is what it was all about. They brought in all these temporary protected status workers and they just they bring in all these refugees and they just they have a town of Springfield, Ohio, which has like 17,000 people, and they dumped 20,000 Haitians on them. And next thing you know, yeah. Yo, it's Carrie: Okay. Okay. Right. Was it was it that many, Todd? Literally. Wow. Incredible. Todd: They basically doubled the size of the town. So next thing you know, the Haitians are eating the dogs and eating the cats. Because that's what they do in Haiti. And ⁓ Yo, it's Carrie: Mm-hmm. And they were smashing up cars because they don't know how to drive here. Todd: All kinds of things. And so Trump Trump was was revoking all this. Of course, as soon as Trump does anything, the courts get involved and they tried to shut down the fact they said the president can't halt these because the previous president granted him this status and the new president can't take it away and w whatever else. And the Supreme Court just this week dropped an opinion that said the president can do whatever he wants with temporary protected status, refugees. Yo, it's Carrie: Yeah. Okay. Okay. Todd: And the other thing they dropped was that when a person's standing at the border, they're not over here yet, they haven't arrived, they've got no rights, the American government has has no fealty to them at all. We don't have to prove anything to them, we don't have to do anything to them. Keep them out, do whatever you want with them. They're not American citizens, they have nothing to do with America. All of this is perfectly sensible, but the ⁓ you wouldn't know it. Yo, it's Carrie: Yes. Okay. Okay. Mm-hmm. You have to draw the line somewhere and if it's the actual border that makes sense. Wow. Todd: You wouldn't know it from ⁓ from the way the the lower courts have been lately. So Yo, it's Carrie: Right. What will happen to the Haitians in Ohio? Todd: Trump is gonna remove him, he says. And and the Republican in ⁓ the wolf in Republican's clothing that functions as a governor for Ohio, Mike DeWine is already weeping and gnashing his teeth about such a thing. These are the these are Americans, they're the real Americans. Okay. Yeah. So anyway, that was our little I that was our tie in there. Yo, it's Carrie: Okay. Okay, yeah. Yeah. Did you call them the real Americans? Wow. Okay. All right. There you go. Perfect. Todd: So the the so far the Supreme Court decisions that have come down have been pretty much favorable to the administration. ⁓ almost ⁓ the vast majority. There's gonna s there's some that are gonna come out Monday. So when this drops Tuesday, we're not gonna be talking about whatever happened on Monday, but there's a ⁓ a large suspicion that the Supreme Court is not going to give the administration a win on birthright citizenship, meaning Yo, it's Carrie: Okay. Todd: All you have to do if you're nine months pregnant is get two feet over the border and plop that Mexican baby on American soil and there's an American citizen. Congratulations. Celebrating probably our two hundred and fifty birthday. Yo, it's Carrie: Mm-hmm. You know, it's funny 'cause you say Mexican baby and it's like those are the ones I'm least worried about. Todd: Right, it's the Chinese that are sending their people over here, they give birth, they bring ⁓ back, they educate ⁓ in China, then they send ⁓ back as American citizens that are that that have been educated as Chinese communists. And we're supposed to think, ⁓ yeah, that's what the founders had in mind. I'm sure of it. What? So anyway. Yo, it's Carrie: To run for office. Yeah. Right. Put them put them on the city council. Todd: It's a ⁓ so that's going on. That's out there. ⁓ we'll see what happens. You guys will know probably when this drops, I my guess is that by Monday or or that Tuesday that that opinion probably will be out. It's probably the the most you know, they tend to hold the the the more controversial opinions to the very end of the term when they're you know what I mean? They did the same thing with well they're kinda out, but but like this is the final as soon as these opinions drop then they're Yo, it's Carrie: Yeah. Okay. Okay. Mm-hmm. gonna be a big deal. Store. Like are they like in session? Is that kind of Todd: They're on their summer vacation or whatever until October or whatever. Yo, it's Carrie: Right. And prob yeah, and probably hiding. They're not speaking at all yet about election integrity or anything like that. Todd: I don't think there's gonna be any ⁓ there has been some cases about that, but I don't think any of those cases are gonna be decided or maybe they haven't been heard yet. I I can't remember, but no, I don't think that there's anything outstanding on that that's gonna that that that's gonna make any huge difference, I don't think. So So that's going on out there. Where is my I wanted to show you something, Carrie, and this is this isn't really pol well, everything's political, I guess anymore. Yo, it's Carrie: Okay. Okay. Yeah, really. Todd: ⁓ but where did that go? I just ⁓ hold on. Sorry guys. Where's all my bookmarks? And why am I all over the place? Sorry guys. ⁓ did you hear that in Texas? Here it is. This is what I wanted to ⁓ to share. Actually, ⁓ I did have it all set up. Man, I'm more prepared than I give myself credit for. ⁓ I'm gonna share this quick. So the Texas Yo, it's Carrie: Like I gotta queued it up. Okay. Todd: The Texas Board wa a Texas Board of Education in where the Texas State Board of Education, so this would be for all of Texas, has voted to make Bible passages required reading in public schools. ⁓ the Education Board, which is controlled by Republicans, voted to pass a new required reading list on Friday by a vote of nine to five to one. I guess one of them. Yo, it's Carrie: Okay. Okay. Todd: One of them didn't have the guts to vote either way. Just I just I don't know. Yo, it's Carrie: Wow. Right? I don't know. I know. That's ⁓ interesting. Required reading. Todd: Required reading. So the list for required literature includes sections of the book of Exodus for fifth graders and the shepherd's psalm, they're calling it, ⁓ for I assume Psalm 23. I wouldn't call it the shepherd's psalm, but you know, this is ABC News. ⁓ the Bible's a whole it's a whole new thing to them. They're like, holy shit, it's somebody who knows what this is. Yo, it's Carrie: I was gonna say mm-hmm. Mm-hmm. Like the Lord is my shepherd? Okay. What should we call this in the headline? How about the shepherd song? Todd: for seventh graders and more. ⁓ anyway. ⁓ Yo, it's Carrie: That sounds to me, I gotta tell you, years and years ago I was buying Christmas stamps at the grocery checkout. You know, at I was like, ⁓ I need stamps. I wonder if they have Christmas stamps. And it was a young woman working at the count at the cashier, you know. And sh I said, Do you have any Christmas stamps? She goes, Yeah. She's We've got these ornaments and she goes, and the lady and a baby. Todd: Mm-hmm. You really like they need a little more required reading. So this is Sarah Fields, just happens to be somebody on X. Nobody terribly important. I don't know. Anyway, but but ⁓ she she said this. And I I I just wanted to talk about this with Carrie, because Carrie was a school teacher by trade for a long time. She is no longer, right? But but for a long time you spent a little you spent enough time in education to know your way around that world, right? Yo, it's Carrie: Yeah, perhaps. So maybe that's Okay. For yeah, no. For a l yeah, a little while. Yeah. I spied it wasn't there much longer. I was like, whoa. Todd: So this is this is Sarah Fields. She says, hot take, and this is commenting on on the the news I just said about the Texas requiring the Bible to be read in schools. ⁓ well when I say that, required reading on a few passages. It's not like like every day from noon to one they're up there reading the Bible over the loudspeaker. Not like a Christian call to prayer. Yo, it's Carrie: Okay. Mm-hmm. Right. I was gonna say let's like keep it in perspective. All it is is all yeah, among the the the literature they will be reading, they will be reading from perhaps the most well it's the best selling book in the world, possibly the most influential. Okay. Let's yeah. Todd: The best selling book in the world. Yes, 100%. So she says, hot take, and she's a conservative. I just want to point this out. Hot take, I don't think you actually want this. If you open the door for one religion to be taught in public schools, you also open the door for every other religion to be taught as well. Leave education to teachers, leave religion to parents. Otherwise, don't be surprised when your Bible, when your child is taught the Quran. Yo, it's Carrie: Yeah. Yeah. Mm. Todd: Or when a woke teacher with a completely different worldview presents their version of who God is, better yet, home school your children. Yo, it's Carrie: What do you think of this, Todd? It's it's a valid point. Todd: I think that it is I it's naive. That's what I think. Because I think another religion is already being taught. I th think the naivety is the idea that we could ever remove God and remove religion, because what that means is remove truth from education and from schools in general. And we thought, well, we can make them religion free. No, we just substituted the religion of materialism and of humanism. That's all we did. Yo, it's Carrie: Yeah. ⁓ Mm-hmm. Yeah. Yeah. Okay. Todd: And then we educated a couple generations on humanism and materialism. And now we're surprised to find nobody wants to have kids, nobody cares about community, nobody cares all the you know what I'm saying? Nobody wants to work, work ethics gone downhill, all these things. And when I say nobody, guys, I understand it's I'm I'm painting with a broad brush, but you understand what I'm trying to say. So I my point is that we're already gonna do that anyway, and that we are a we're we're a Yo, it's Carrie: Right. Mm. Yeah. Yeah. Sure. Yeah. It's it has had an impact. Todd: We're Western civilization. We are the beacon of Western civilization right now. Now that wasn't always the case. it was probably Rome for a while, it probably moved to England, whatever. But the point is that right now the American Empire is the shining city on the hill for Western civilization that is trying to be torn down piece by piece. Yes. And it's my opinion that the Bible and Christianity is is the foundation of Western civilization. Yo, it's Carrie: Mm-hmm. Mm. Right. From within, which is one of the concerns, yeah. Todd: civilization. Therefore, no, I don't think every kid should be required to be a Christian and required to go to Bible study and required to necessarily pray, but to be taught the Bible within the context of the broader civilization which it has had such a large hand in shaping only makes sense to me. What about you? Yo, it's Carrie: Boom. Right. Right. I I love how you said that and it it helps me helps me bridge how I feel about her response to it. This put in the context of their required reading, like when you have, you know, required reading, it's like, okay, everyone's gonna read the short story, the lottery, everyone's gonna read this Mark Twain when they're in the American literature. Whatever, to kill a mocking bird. There are just these things that are in the list. It's not like it's a Bible class, and it's not. a religion class. It's not a religion class. The the the students, yeah. When when the students get into a world history class and like a world culture, world culture and world history, that's when they will learn about other religions. Other, you know, they start with the Mayans and the Aztecs. You know, it's it's like they're going to learn about all of that in the proper context. This should not Todd: No, no, it's I I d at least it's not being presented that way as far as I can see. Yo, it's Carrie: And this is where it's gonna fall on the shoulders of those who write the curriculums and make those decisions. And that concerns me because they're they're not trustworthy with that task right now, in my opinion. ⁓ generally speaking, generally speaking. But this is not proposing that, like you said, yeah, for the first half of the day we're reading from the Bible and we're gonna talk about Jesus. That is not what this is about. Right. Right. Todd: There's no altar calls, we presume. How much better? How much better would the dog would the Texas public school system be if there was? Yo, it's Carrie: They aren't gonna be having baptisms. Yeah. Not gonna be have baptisms every Friday. It's just like be the content of it, having some of that considering what it is and considering the foundation the foundation of our society or the foundation of the our country. I feel like it's really appropriate, but they just can't allow that door to be opened because it's not teaching religion. ⁓ Todd: Well, but now this Sarah Chick this Sarah Chick is not she would be conservative. And what she's what I think what what her point is one of fear. So in other words, she's reacting in fear that well, if we do this, we open the door to any religion. And I first of all would say why? I don't think that that has to be the case. I d there's no reason for that. ⁓ I I why can't we teach the predominant Yo, it's Carrie: And that will be covered elsewhere. So Okay. Yeah. Yeah. Mm-hmm. Todd: ⁓ the read have some readings from a predominant book of the main religion of Western civilization. I just don't see I mean there's not there's we aren't teaching them to be Catholics, we aren't teaching them to be Protestants, we aren't teaching them to be Baptists. We're just saying, hey, this these these the the law in Exodus formed the template and gave us the example for all of law and civilization that came afterwards. Yo, it's Carrie: Right. Right, exactly. Mm-hmm. Mm-hmm. Right. Todd: This is what the this is what the this is what Rome built their system of government on to a large extent was was some of these these older systems. And and it's absolutely appropriate that to ignore those in the name of religion is crazy. And I also think to I to constantly react to things out of fear is crazy to me. We're winning. Just let's take the wins. Let's go get more. Yo, it's Carrie: Mm-hmm. Yeah. Mm-hmm. Todd: Don't worry about, ⁓ my God, what happens if we lose? We've already lost for like 40 years and now we're winning. Shut up and take the wins. That's what I think. Let your kid read the Exodus in Texas. Who cares? And if they want that they're already getting all the mosques they want in Texas. So maybe we could take the little wins we get. How about that? How about we don't just preemptively turn everything over and say, well, what if they're in charge next time? Yo, it's Carrie: Okay. Okay. Mm-hmm. Yeah. Okay. Did you send her that answer on her post? Todd: I d I just don't think that's any way to lead. Yo, it's Carrie: You didn't engage was it Sarah? You didn't engage her? Todd: didn't engage. I did engage somebody on XS a little bit and it was like on an Israel thing. It was like a a Christian like Israel replacing the church or not. And it's just inevitably when I engage in those things, no one responds to me. And I think it's because they realize I'm too smart for Yo, it's Carrie: ⁓ boy. Probably. Probably. ⁓ boy. I had to yeah. I was gonna say I had to resist engaging this week. I think I texted you because on Monday, was it just yeah, it was last week, Monday, I had a ⁓ someone in the my office building, not my company, was on a rant, a liberal Trump deranged rant about how much he hates Trump. Todd: Well listen guys, here's another Well, go ahead, Gary. Okay. Remember this. Sorry. Yo, it's Carrie: How he's evil, his soul. He was talking about a soul. I mean, this guy is like, he's consumed by it. And he was talking to someone in my office and I was at my computer and I just kept my eyes on my screen and I was trying to focus, but it was wild. It was absolutely wild. I didn't say anything. Todd: Wow. Should have been like, you know, there's a podcast you should listen to. You might really enjoy it. Yo, it's Carrie: ⁓ he was something else. Two the two ⁓ bomb drop things he said were ⁓ he said that the only the only news on like available to us that isn't fair and balanced was Fox. Like he said it with a dead straight is it. Yeah. That's ⁓ yeah, he said it with a straight a straight face. Mm-hmm. That's what he said. And ⁓ hilarious. Todd: ⁓ that isn't fair and balanced. ⁓ Every other news is. Who to think? Yo, it's Carrie: And at one point, under his breath, he's he was talking about how, you know, we have to deal with Trump for this amount of time. And under his breath he said, Well, until someone gets a clear shot of him and I was like, Holy shit. Todd: Wow. It should have been like they've taken a couple clear shots at him. Seems like he's being protected by someone higher up. Yo, it's Carrie: Right. I should have brought out my rosary and I should I should have thrown like holy water on him. He never would have talked to me again. Todd: You'd need to pen like Alpha Bun where I could just melt it. Yo, it's Carrie: Think so. ⁓ it was wild. Anyway, I didn't engage. I did I didn't even know what to say. I was really stunned. Todd: That's all right. You know the the there is something in Proverbs about how pointless it is to engage a fool in their folly. You know what I like? You might as well just beat your head against a concrete wall. Yo, it's Carrie: ⁓ thank you. Thank you for some Thank you for saying that because I am feeling a l I feel a little guilt about not saying anything 'cause I think I just I was just I left that that whole day, actually days. I still feel it. I'm just astonished that someone would pour all of that out of themselves in the company of people whose political opinions and stances they're not familiar with. You know what mean? I I'm just astonished. Todd: Yeah. The scary thing is how many of ⁓ there probably are out there. You know what I mean? Yo, it's Carrie: Yeah. Yeah. Well and no one's responding. Like no one's responding to you and you just keep going. Obviously just completely not reading the room. Todd: Winning hearts and minds. If you get a clear shot. Okay. This is Tim Dillon. He's the comedian. We played him a few times on here. Usually when you see him, he's at his big desk and he's got his sunglasses on. And Yes, this is him. He's on Rogan's show, so he doesn't have the sunglasses and the hat on. Yo, it's Carrie: Wow. This is him? And his hair looks okay, different. Todd: ⁓ he ⁓ and listen, he's what I think he's funny sometimes, which is why I play his stuff when I think it's funny. I don't frequently disagree I do frequently disagree with him. I I he he's n Yo, it's Carrie: Okay, he I was gonna say he's turned his he's changed his mind about Trump, hasn't he? Okay, got it. Todd: He's kinda all over the place a little bit. But I think here he's talking about something on on Joe Rogan's program that's it's interesting. I I wanna get your take on it. Let's see what you think about it. Let's see if we if we think this is true or not. So let's hear what Tim Dillon has to say. Yo, it's Carrie: Okay. Okay. Hmm. Hey mom, watch this. Todd: Okay, Carrie. What do you think? I I I'm gonna say out of the gate, I don't particularly feel like this is true for me. I I don't I don't share his perspective, at least not from a first hand standpoint really. What do you I mean, what do you think? Yo, it's Carrie: Yeah, I was gonna say I think this is a one of this is a great example of how we've seen this happening. We've seen people, you know, a movement of young people focused on themselves and saying, I don't I don't want to have kids. We've seen that. We've talked about it. It's definitely having an impact. But I don't think it's I don't think it's as overwhelmingly true as he's presenting it to be. It's a good example of one of those things where we see examples online of something undesirable and we Todd: Yes. Yo, it's Carrie: want to say it's everybody. I mean, that's what he's making it sound like. All of America. Yeah. And he doesn't even qualify it. All of America is, you know, it's about you. And I think, I don't know. I think family we're blessed, like that we feel that way, but most people I know, most people I know would, you know, do anything for their for their family. Like family, God, family. Todd: Right. It's a bit of a broad brush. I I've never ever in my I've never even imagined a doctor saying to me, ⁓ that's your dad, screw him. I can't fathom that. I've never known a doctor who would say that, I don't think. So I'm like, ⁓ I mean maybe, maybe in left leaning cities things have gone awry. I don't know. Yo, it's Carrie: Yeah, what was that? What was that? ⁓ and the other thing I I mean maybe maybe in Canada where they're like, hey, you know what? He's he's over sixty five. I know I'm just I'm just saying like doctors in Canada are are doing that with the whole ⁓ the euthanasia. Todd: But he's talking about America. You know what I mean? Right. ⁓ they'll be like your daughter's twenty five and she's depressed? We got a little canister she can crawl in. She'll never be depressed again. Yo, it's Carrie: Effer. Effer. I don't know, Todd. That's crazy. Speaking of the the addiction or speaking to the addiction example he gave, I just think I'm sorry. It that's an interesting deterrent, a cultural deterrent, people in India. And I don't think people think about that when they're doing drugs here. Todd: I know lots of people who if you ask ⁓ would say, well, of course I wouldn't want to my parent I wouldn't want to do drugs. Part of it would be that I wouldn't want my parents to think I do drugs, but they don't ever get that far because they don't want to do drugs anyway. Yo, it's Carrie: Right. But addiction right. Right. And also addiction is addiction addiction is beyond reason. So anyway, that's more of a deterrent to to start doing drugs. I think in India if someone got addicted, I don't think they'd be able to overcome that addiction purely out of the desire to honor their family. I don't know. Todd: Yeah. I mean do you do do you think that that okay the ⁓ that's why let's why the I know and I and I think ⁓ but let's widen it out some. Is there a sense in which ⁓ in the West let's widen it out that much to say in Western culture, is there a sense in which the family isn't as important as ⁓ a as it is in some other cultures maybe? I don't know. The the the institution of the family, I mean. Yo, it's Carrie: It's a very like negative cynical view of Okay. Okay. ⁓ the institu ⁓ the institution of family. I mean, I don't know in okay. Family just walked in. Family first. Lauren came in just in Todd: Let's take a break, Carrie. Look who just walked in. I can't deal with this. I can't run a podcast like this.
