- 0:00Speaker 1: People think that the President of the United States has
- 0:02Speaker 1: the power for debt forgiveness. He does not. He can postpone,
- 0:07Speaker 1: he can delay, but he does not have that power.
- 0:12Speaker 1: That has to be an act of Congress. The president
- 0:15Speaker 1: can't do it, So that's not even a discussion. Not
- 0:19Speaker 1: everybody realizes that. But the president can only postpone, delay,
- 0:25Speaker 1: but not forgive. That is a quote from Democrat House
- 0:29Speaker 1: Speaker Nancy Pelosi twenty seven days before Joe Biden unilaterally
- 0:35Speaker 1: forgave student debt. This is Verdict with Ted Cruz. This
- 0:45Speaker 1: episode of Verdict with Ted Cruz is sponsored by American
- 0:48Speaker 1: Hartford Gold. If you're like me, then you are growing
- 0:51Speaker 1: more and more concerned about the state of our country
- 0:54Speaker 1: and about your own future. Inflation is at the highest
- 0:57Speaker 1: rate that we've seen in forty years, and interest rates
- 1:00Speaker 1: are skyrocketing. In fact, market experts like Jamie Diamond, who
- 1:04Speaker 1: is the CEO of JP Morgan, are not only predicting
- 1:07Speaker 1: that we will face an economic recession, they're using phrases
- 1:10Speaker 1: like economic hurricane and unprecedented. If you want to protect
- 1:15Speaker 1: your future, then do what I did. Call the only
- 1:19Speaker 1: precious metal dealers that I trust American Heart for gold.
- 1:22Speaker 1: They can show you how to hedge your hard earned
- 1:24Speaker 1: savings against inflation by diversifying a portion of your portfolio
- 1:28Speaker 1: into physical gold and silver. All it takes to get
- 1:31Speaker 1: started is a short phone call and they'll have physical
- 1:34Speaker 1: gold and silver shipped directly to your door or perhaps
- 1:37Speaker 1: into your IRA or four oh one K and they
- 1:40Speaker 1: make it easy. They're the highest rated firm in the business,
- 1:42Speaker 1: with an A plus rating from the Better Business Bureau
- 1:44Speaker 1: and thousands of satisfied clients. And if you call them
- 1:47Speaker 1: right now, they will give you up to fifteen hundred
- 1:50Speaker 1: dollars of free silver and a free safe on your
- 1:53Speaker 1: first qualifying order. So don't wait, call them now. Call
- 1:56Speaker 1: eight five five seven six eight one eight eight three.
- 2:00Speaker 1: That's eight five five seven six eight one eight eight three.
- 2:03Speaker 1: Or if you prefer text messaging, you can text the
- 2:06Speaker 1: word cactus to six five five three two. Again the
- 2:10Speaker 1: phone number is eight five five seven six eight one
- 2:13Speaker 1: eight eight three. Or you can send the word cactus
- 2:16Speaker 1: via text message to six five five three two. You'll
- 2:19Speaker 1: be glad you did. Welcome back to Verdict with Ted Cruz.
- 2:24Speaker 1: I am Michael Knowles, joined as ever by Senator Cruz.
- 2:29Speaker 1: We're so happy to be with all of you, and
- 2:31Speaker 1: condolences to all of the poor schmucks out there who
- 2:34Speaker 1: actually paid off your student debts or your kids student debts.
- 2:38Speaker 1: You really blew it, folks. You could have gotten a
- 2:40Speaker 1: freebe but you did the right thing, and now too
- 2:43Speaker 1: bad for you. It's fairly stunning. You know. I'm reminded
- 2:47Speaker 1: of mel Brooks when he observed it's good to be
- 2:50Speaker 1: the king. What Joe Biden is doing is completely lawless.
- 2:54Speaker 1: So Senator I not only take your word for it
- 2:57Speaker 1: that this is not legal, I so take Nancy Pelosi's
- 3:01Speaker 1: word for it. Never thought I would say that's statement.
- 3:04Speaker 1: But when's the last time Nancy and I agreed this
- 3:07Speaker 1: might be the one and only time Joe Biden bringing
- 3:10Speaker 1: the country together. I think the argument they tried to
- 3:14Speaker 1: make was that this in some way related to the
- 3:18Speaker 1: Heroes Act after September eleventh, and they're all these kind
- 3:22Speaker 1: of bizarro expost facto explanations of how Biden did this.
- 3:26Speaker 1: But I take both of your word for it that
- 3:28Speaker 1: it's not really legal, and yet obviously he is doing
- 3:32Speaker 1: it so well. He might not have the right to
- 3:33Speaker 1: do it, he apparently has the power to do it.
- 3:37Speaker 1: My question then, is less about the law and more
- 3:39Speaker 1: about the politics of this Biden. I guess he just
- 3:43Speaker 1: thinks he's buying votes and the way that machine politics
- 3:46Speaker 1: has often bought votes. Is this going to work in November. Well,
- 3:50Speaker 1: let's thank those one at a time. On the law question,
- 3:53Speaker 1: I think it is clear that he does not have
- 3:55Speaker 1: the legal authority to do this, and this week's cloak
- 3:58Speaker 1: Room on Verdict Plus is entirely about that we do
- 4:01Speaker 1: a deep dive into the statutes, into the asserted justifications.
- 4:08Speaker 1: The Biden Department of Justice put out a new memorandum
- 4:11Speaker 1: from the Office Legal Counsel trying to claim it had
- 4:14Speaker 1: the authority to do this, and so on cloak Room,
- 4:18Speaker 1: I go into the statutes, into the details and explain
- 4:21Speaker 1: why all of that is nonsense. And in terms of
- 4:23Speaker 1: the politics, I don't know. So there are cross cutting concerns,
- 4:28Speaker 1: and the honest answer is I don't know how this
- 4:30Speaker 1: will play politically. Let me give the argument for why
- 4:35Speaker 1: it will play badly for the Democrats, and then I'll
- 4:38Speaker 1: give the argument why it'll play well. The argument why
- 4:42Speaker 1: it plays badly is that it is reverse Robin Hood.
- 4:48Speaker 1: Robin Hood stole from the rich and gave from the poor.
- 4:51Speaker 1: This is Joe Biden stealing from the poor and giving
- 4:53Speaker 1: to the rich. And let me give you some statistics.
- 4:56Speaker 1: According to Brookings, the left wing think to the media,
- 5:01Speaker 1: and income of households with student loans is seventy six thousand,
- 5:04Speaker 1: four hundred. Only seven percent of those are below the
- 5:08Speaker 1: poverty line. So these are not typically the poor that
- 5:12Speaker 1: we're talking about that have student loans. But look they've
- 5:14Speaker 1: gone to college or grad school, so that that tends
- 5:17Speaker 1: to move you up in the income skis strata to
- 5:20Speaker 1: begin with, among those making payments on their loans. So
- 5:25Speaker 1: if you exclude the people who aren't making any payments
- 5:28Speaker 1: and you focus just on those making payments on their loans,
- 5:31Speaker 1: the media income is eighty six thousand, five hundred dollars,
- 5:35Speaker 1: so that's starting to get up there, and only four
- 5:39Speaker 1: percent are in poverty. Overall, the top forty percent of
- 5:46Speaker 1: American households hold sixty percent of the student loans. How
- 5:51Speaker 1: many Americans have degrees, Well, thirty seven percent of Americans
- 5:54Speaker 1: have a bachelor's degree and fourteen percent of Americans have
- 5:58Speaker 1: a graduate or professional degree. That's courted the Census Bureau
- 6:02Speaker 1: and the unemployment rate for college graduates right now is
- 6:05Speaker 1: two point nine percent. Approximately eighty seven percent of American
- 6:10Speaker 1: adults do not have student loans, so it is benefiting
- 6:16Speaker 1: a relatively small, discreete class um. This could play very
- 6:21Speaker 1: badly for Joe Biden if the people who are paying
- 6:26Speaker 1: for it are pissed off. You know this is this
- 6:29Speaker 1: will cost every taxpayer on average two thousand, one hundred
- 6:34Speaker 1: dollars to give away this money. So, Senator, do you
- 6:36Speaker 1: remember a couple of years ago there was a voter
- 6:40Speaker 1: or constituent on the campaign trail he approached Liz Warren,
- 6:43Speaker 1: your colleague, when Senator Warren was pitching student loan forgiveness,
- 6:48Speaker 1: and he didn't like the idea I'm having. Yep, I
- 7:00Speaker 1: just want asking questions. My daughter's getting out of school.
- 7:03Speaker 1: I saved all my money. Just am I gonna get
- 7:07Speaker 1: my money back? So you're gonna pay for people who
- 7:11Speaker 1: didn't save the money, so that those of us that
- 7:13Speaker 1: did the right thing get screwed. My buddy hit Fun
- 7:18Speaker 1: bought a car, went on vacations. I saved my money.
- 7:21Speaker 1: He made more than idea, but I worked a double.
- 7:23Speaker 1: The ship worked extra, my dallars works. He his ten.
- 7:26Speaker 1: So you're laughing, Yeah, that's exactly what you're doing. We
- 7:30Speaker 1: did the right thing and we get screwed. I appreciate
- 7:32Speaker 1: I didn't look like that was playing very well in Peoria.
- 7:38Speaker 1: And so I do think folks like that guy questioning
- 7:41Speaker 1: Elizabeth Warren are going to be pissed off. I do think, Uh,
- 7:45Speaker 1: steel workers and truck drivers and plumbers have a reason
- 7:49Speaker 1: to be pissed off. All of this could bounce badly
- 7:53Speaker 1: for Democrats. Don't let me give you the flip argument.
- 7:57Speaker 1: It may be a political master stroke. Why is that that?
- 8:02Speaker 1: There's there's a school of thought and economics that's called
- 8:06Speaker 1: public choice theory, and public choice theory examines how decision
- 8:11Speaker 1: making is made in a democratic society. And essentially what
- 8:15Speaker 1: it focuses on is when you have a relatively small
- 8:19Speaker 1: group with a concentrated benefit and you have a large
- 8:25Speaker 1: group with a diffuse harm. The small group cares a
- 8:31Speaker 1: lot about it, and the large group typically doesn't. And
- 8:36Speaker 1: so look that there is a real risk if if
- 8:39Speaker 1: you are that that slacker barista who who wasted seven
- 8:44Speaker 1: years in college studying completely useless things now has loans
- 8:48Speaker 1: and can't get a job. Joe Biden just gave you
- 8:51Speaker 1: twenty grand, like holy cow, twenty grand that you know,
- 8:55Speaker 1: maybe you weren't going to vote in November and suddenly
- 8:57Speaker 1: you just got twenty grand. And you know, if you can,
- 8:59Speaker 1: you know, get off the bond for a minute and
- 9:01Speaker 1: head down to the voting station or just send in
- 9:04Speaker 1: your mail in ballot that the Democrats have helpfully sent you,
- 9:09Speaker 1: it could drive up turnout, particularly among young people and
- 9:16Speaker 1: the people who are getting screwed. It's not necessarily the
- 9:20Speaker 1: case that they understand they're getting screwed. It's a little
- 9:23Speaker 1: more diffuse of I'm paying taxes, but it's not like
- 9:28Speaker 1: you get a bill in October, Dear Michael, send in
- 9:33Speaker 1: your two thousand, one hundred dollars to pay for slacker
- 9:37Speaker 1: boys loans getting forgiven. When I think of the whatever
- 9:41Speaker 1: the estimated three hundred billion to six hundred billion dollars
- 9:45Speaker 1: that this could cost, we don't have a really firm
- 9:47Speaker 1: number yet, I think, yeah, that's a lot of money.
- 9:50Speaker 1: But in the perspective of all the other money that
- 9:54Speaker 1: the federal government spends, it's it's just not going to
- 9:57Speaker 1: make a huge difference. So that is one great fear,
- 10:00Speaker 1: and then the other fear long term as to whether
- 10:04Speaker 1: or not this is a Democrat political masterstroke is you've
- 10:07Speaker 1: now created a system of incentives whereby people will be
- 10:12Speaker 1: more likely to go to college, assuming that they're not
- 10:15Speaker 1: going to have to pay back their loans, assuming that
- 10:17Speaker 1: the big Daddy government is going to come in and
- 10:19Speaker 1: take care of them whenever a Democrat is in the
- 10:21Speaker 1: White House. And the thing we know about college these
- 10:24Speaker 1: days is it doesn't train you for jobs. It doesn't
- 10:27Speaker 1: give you a liberal education that seemed to go out
- 10:29Speaker 1: the window decades ago. All it really seems to do
- 10:33Speaker 1: is make people more likely to vote for Democrats. So
- 10:37Speaker 1: even forgetting even about the midterm elections or twenty twenty four,
- 10:40Speaker 1: in the long term, as a result of this education
- 10:43Speaker 1: bill that almost certainly will not result in any real
- 10:46Speaker 1: additional education for people, you could have Democrats grooming a
- 10:50Speaker 1: whole new generation of voters to be more likely to
- 10:52Speaker 1: support them. Well, I think that's possible. I think there's
- 10:55Speaker 1: another effect that this act is going to drive up inflation.
- 11:00Speaker 1: I think significantly. You know, it's amazing, between this and
- 11:04Speaker 1: the build back Broke bill they just jammed through, the
- 11:07Speaker 1: Democrats have just spent another trillion dollars. Inflation is the
- 11:10Speaker 1: number one issue in the country, and they're just pouring
- 11:13Speaker 1: gasoline on it. You know, we just saw today the
- 11:18Speaker 1: Wall Street Journal reported that that home mortgage rates have
- 11:22Speaker 1: jumped up even more to five and a half percent.
- 11:26Speaker 1: You know, look, that's real economic pain for a first
- 11:29Speaker 1: time home buyer for for that matter, or anyone trying
- 11:31Speaker 1: to buy a home. One of the effects of the
- 11:37Speaker 1: inflation most concentrated is going to be on college tuition.
- 11:42Speaker 1: You know, everyone this does nothing about the crisis. I
- 11:45Speaker 1: actually agree there's a student loan problem because universities are
- 11:50Speaker 1: engaged in hyper inflation. You know, they've got you know,
- 11:53Speaker 1: you're and my alma maters have endowments, you know, thirty
- 11:57Speaker 1: forty fifty billion dollars, and yet they're bilking students out
- 12:02Speaker 1: of massive amounts. They keep jacking up the prices year
- 12:05Speaker 1: after year after year. And they've got tenured faculty who
- 12:08Speaker 1: teach one class. They've got you know, fifty diversity administrators
- 12:15Speaker 1: who all make six figure checks. This is the very
- 12:18Speaker 1: worst of leftist politics, which is they take care of
- 12:25Speaker 1: their friends and they give them money. You look at
- 12:28Speaker 1: this build back Broke bill where they paid off all
- 12:30Speaker 1: these left wing environmentalist groups who are just making billions
- 12:34Speaker 1: of dollars, and all the Washington lobbyists that are making
- 12:36Speaker 1: billions of dollars, they take care of their friends and
- 12:39Speaker 1: they screw their enemies. I mean, for the left, it
- 12:43Speaker 1: is a zero sum game of reward and retribution, and
- 12:48Speaker 1: it creates a vicious cycle where all the people they're
- 12:52Speaker 1: paying off are then going to keep trying to keep
- 12:57Speaker 1: the people paying them off in power. I'm reminded of
- 12:59Speaker 1: one of my favorite Simpsons episodes where where Grandpa Simpsons
- 13:04Speaker 1: has been getting checks for I think it was having
- 13:08Speaker 1: like itch an Itchy and scratchy cartoon or something, and
- 13:11Speaker 1: he hadn't done it. It was a mistake, and and
- 13:14Speaker 1: and Lisa says, well, Grandpa didn't. Didn't you think it
- 13:17Speaker 1: was strange that you were getting checks in the mail
- 13:20Speaker 1: for not having done anything? And he says no, Lisa,
- 13:23Speaker 1: I just figured the Democrats were back in power. Well,
- 13:29Speaker 1: speaking of the friends of the Democrats, and actually speaking
- 13:33Speaker 1: of your ability, you know, to send your kids to
- 13:36Speaker 1: school and to make any money at all, Senator, I
- 13:39Speaker 1: don't know if you saw this headline, but someone is
- 13:41Speaker 1: coming for your job. You have got a major figure.
- 13:45Speaker 1: At least according to CNN and MSNBC, coming after you,
- 13:49Speaker 1: the future former congress Lady Liz Cheney is launching a
- 13:53Speaker 1: political action committee. She's targeting not Democrats, of course, she's
- 13:57Speaker 1: targeting Republicans. And you or at the top of the list. Well,
- 14:04Speaker 1: you know, you can tell a lot about a person
- 14:06Speaker 1: by their friends, and you can tell even more by
- 14:08Speaker 1: their enemies. Listen, I gotta say, Liz Cheney, I've known
- 14:12Speaker 1: Liz a long time. I've known her twenty plus years.
- 14:16Speaker 1: Yet there are some people who Donald Trump just broke that.
- 14:21Speaker 1: They just they hate Trump so much that their mind
- 14:27Speaker 1: went on Fritz. And I gotta say, Liz is unrecognizable.
- 14:31Speaker 1: She has become a left wing Democrat now and like
- 14:34Speaker 1: ten years ago, the idea that Liz Cheney was a
- 14:36Speaker 1: left wing Democrat would have been ludicrous. Obviously, her dad
- 14:39Speaker 1: was Dick Cheney. He was a conservative Republican. She was. Look,
- 14:43Speaker 1: they're both too neo Connie for me. They're both too
- 14:47Speaker 1: eager to get us involved in foreign wars. But that
- 14:51Speaker 1: being said, on taxes, on social issues, on most issues,
- 14:57Speaker 1: Liz Cheney was a down the road conservative Republican. And
- 15:02Speaker 1: by the way, that's where Wyoming is, and and and
- 15:04Speaker 1: then Trump came into power and her mind just shattered,
- 15:09Speaker 1: and and and she what's amazing is that she's become
- 15:13Speaker 1: It's not even just that she says, Okay, I don't
- 15:15Speaker 1: like Donald Trump, like I don't like his what he says,
- 15:18Speaker 1: I don't like how he acts. That's I understand someone
- 15:21Speaker 1: who says that I don't like everything he says and
- 15:22Speaker 1: does I like the policies we had acted together. I
- 15:25Speaker 1: work closely with him on that. But she doesn't limit
- 15:27Speaker 1: it to that. It's it's like Bill Crystal as someone else,
- 15:30Speaker 1: like Liz Cheney who has just become a liberal Democrat
- 15:35Speaker 1: who what they say, you know, Cheney's uh circus act
- 15:40Speaker 1: on on the January sixth Commission is indistinguishable from what
- 15:45Speaker 1: Nancy Pelosi would say. It's indistinguishable from what Chuck Schumer
- 15:48Speaker 1: would say. And so we just had the primary and
- 15:53Speaker 1: in in Wyoming, and you know, she had won by
- 15:57Speaker 1: I don't know, seventy eighty percent last time around in
- 16:00Speaker 1: the primary. This time she didn't just lose. She lost
- 16:04Speaker 1: by almost forty points. Thirty nine points is what she
- 16:07Speaker 1: lost by. And the reason is simple. She doesn't represent
- 16:11Speaker 1: the people of Wyoming anymore. The people of Wyoming are conservative,
- 16:15Speaker 1: and she's decided she is a Washington, DC left wing
- 16:19Speaker 1: Democrat now. And so it's completely unsurprising, you know, right
- 16:23Speaker 1: after she gets just trounced by the voters, there's no remorse,
- 16:28Speaker 1: there's no contrition, there's no gush. You know, for some reason,
- 16:34Speaker 1: the people of Wyoming don't think I'm representing them anymore.
- 16:37Speaker 1: There's none of that. It is. Instead, she says it's
- 16:40Speaker 1: her mission to do what defeat conservative Republicans. And I
- 16:44Speaker 1: guess it's a badge of honor that I'm the number
- 16:45Speaker 1: one person on her list. That she's going to take
- 16:48Speaker 1: the PAC money she raised, and I think she's gotten
- 16:50Speaker 1: like seven eight million dollars that came from lefty Democrats
- 16:55Speaker 1: all over the place, and she's going to use that
- 16:58Speaker 1: now to attack Republican And listen, there are two things
- 17:02Speaker 1: Liz Cheney is doing. Number One, she's got a fundraising
- 17:06Speaker 1: grift where she will raise money like the Lincoln Project.
- 17:09Speaker 1: Lincoln Project is a great example where it's a fundraising
- 17:12Speaker 1: grift of people who used to be kind of sort
- 17:15Speaker 1: of Republicans who now make millions of dollars when they're
- 17:19Speaker 1: not engaged in other illicit activities. Now make millions of
- 17:23Speaker 1: dollars raising money from lefties to attack Republicans. And they're,
- 17:28Speaker 1: to use that phrase useful idiots because their attacks arguably
- 17:34Speaker 1: have some saliots, because they can say I was once
- 17:36Speaker 1: a Republican, now I can be a left wing Democrat
- 17:38Speaker 1: attack them. So she'll engage in a fundraising grift for
- 17:41Speaker 1: a while. My guess is she probably runs for president,
- 17:46Speaker 1: she gets crushed, and then she will happily retire to
- 17:52Speaker 1: being a commentator at either MSNBC or CNN. I don't
- 17:55Speaker 1: know which one it'll be, or maybe Mother Jones. I mean,
- 17:59Speaker 1: I mean, I think those are choices. Now, Senator, speaking
- 18:02Speaker 1: of large amounts of money and empowering bad forces, the
- 18:07Speaker 1: Iran nuclear deal seems to be back on the table.
- 18:10Speaker 1: The Obama administration crafted this deal and sent palettes of
- 18:13Speaker 1: cash to Iran and paid obeisance to Iran after they
- 18:18Speaker 1: captured our sailors and set them on the path to
- 18:20Speaker 1: getting a nuclear weapon, all of which was very, very bad.
- 18:22Speaker 1: And then Obama leaves, Trump comes in, and the Republicans
- 18:26Speaker 1: and Trump tear up the Iran nuclear deal. Now Biden
- 18:30Speaker 1: seems to be reviving it, although the details are a
- 18:34Speaker 1: little bit unclear. I know you've been very, very involved
- 18:37Speaker 1: in this issue. What do we need to know? Look,
- 18:39Speaker 1: Biden is desperate to an announce that an Iran deal,
- 18:42Speaker 1: and he doesn't care what the substances he is willing
- 18:45Speaker 1: to give the Ayatola. I think literally anything the Ayatola wants.
- 18:50Speaker 1: It is a political mission for Biden in the White
- 18:54Speaker 1: House and to say it is indefensible. You know, it
- 19:00Speaker 1: was a year ago that Biden surrendered to the Taliban
- 19:02Speaker 1: and Afghanistan. Biden is right now trying to give Iran
- 19:06Speaker 1: and the Iatola nuclear weapons. That that is the effect
- 19:10Speaker 1: of the deal that they're negotiating is to make it
- 19:13Speaker 1: inevitable that Iran has nuclear weapons. And let's be clear,
- 19:17Speaker 1: the Iatola leads chance of death to America and death
- 19:23Speaker 1: to Israel with thousands of people. In fact, every year
- 19:27Speaker 1: they celebrate in Iran what they call Death to America Day,
- 19:31Speaker 1: and that is it is the anniversary of the Islamic
- 19:38Speaker 1: Revolutionary Guard taking American hostages in nineteen seventy nine in Iran,
- 19:44Speaker 1: and that is in effect a national holiday where they
- 19:47Speaker 1: celebrated in Iran every day. Right now, today, the current
- 19:52Speaker 1: Iatola Commune is actively trying to murder the former Secretary
- 19:59Speaker 1: State of the United States Mike Pompeo, the former National
- 20:02Speaker 1: Security Advisor in the White House, John Bolden, and another
- 20:07Speaker 1: State Department official, Brian Hook. All three of them have
- 20:11Speaker 1: hit squads being paid for by the Iranian government actively
- 20:16Speaker 1: trying to murder them. And you may recall a couple
- 20:19Speaker 1: of months ago, Tony blink In the Secretary of State
- 20:22Speaker 1: was testifying in the Senate Form Relations Committee, and I
- 20:25Speaker 1: asked him in the hearing, I said, is it true
- 20:29Speaker 1: that the State Department is right now paying two million
- 20:34Speaker 1: dollars a month for security for Pompeo and Hook to
- 20:40Speaker 1: protect them from Iranians trying to murder them? He said, yeah,
- 20:43Speaker 1: that's true. And I said, is it true that as
- 20:46Speaker 1: you were sitting down in Vienna negotiating with the Iranians,
- 20:51Speaker 1: that the Biden State Department asked the Iranians, hey, would
- 20:55Speaker 1: you guys stop actively trying to murder former senior US
- 21:00Speaker 1: government officials, and that they said no, no, we will
- 21:06Speaker 1: not stop trying to murder them. And you still sat
- 21:09Speaker 1: there and said, Okay, well, let's keep negotiating and and
- 21:13Speaker 1: Blincoln back pedaled and he obfuscated. He didn't want to
- 21:18Speaker 1: answer that question because the answer is yes, and about
- 21:21Speaker 1: the only thing I got candor from Lincoln on as
- 21:23Speaker 1: I said. My next question was, I said, mister secretary,
- 21:28Speaker 1: would you agree that trying to murder the US Secretary
- 21:32Speaker 1: of State is a pretty bit big damn deal At
- 21:36Speaker 1: Blncoln was forced to laugh and say, yeah, okay, that
- 21:39Speaker 1: that is a big deal. But who I'm stopped Biden,
- 21:45Speaker 1: it is ludicrous. Here's some good news. The chances that
- 21:53Speaker 1: the next Republican president, which I think will be in
- 21:56Speaker 1: twenty twenty five, will rip up whatever ridiculous deal these
- 22:01Speaker 1: guys negotiate. I think they're very close to one hundred percent.
- 22:05Speaker 1: And that's something I'm trying to make very very clear.
- 22:08Speaker 1: I'm trying to lay the basis for it, lay the
- 22:10Speaker 1: factual credit it for it. The aetola. The biggest thing
- 22:14Speaker 1: the aetola wants an agreement is some sort of promise
- 22:16Speaker 1: that will bind the next president. Because Trump the most
- 22:19Speaker 1: important national security decision he made was to tear up
- 22:23Speaker 1: the older Rand deal. The next Republican president, whoever it is,
- 22:27Speaker 1: I think there's widespread agreement whoever the next Republican president is,
- 22:31Speaker 1: will tear up whatever disastrous deal this is. That's a
- 22:35Speaker 1: very good thing. And you know, look, one of the
- 22:39Speaker 1: things that the Biden team is desperately trying to find
- 22:43Speaker 1: is some way to tie the hands of the next president.
- 22:46Speaker 1: I don't think they'll succeed, but they're trying to write
- 22:49Speaker 1: into the agreement clauses that, you know, hand over a
- 22:53Speaker 1: massive amount of money if the next administration pulls over.
- 22:56Speaker 1: They're trying to put poison pills in there to prevent
- 23:00Speaker 1: the next administration from pulling out. We'll see what they
- 23:04Speaker 1: come up with. But I think regardless, the next president
- 23:07Speaker 1: is pulling out of this disastrous deal because allowing the
- 23:10Speaker 1: Aetola to have a nuclear weapon is an unacceptably high
- 23:15Speaker 1: risk that that weapon would be used to murder millions
- 23:18Speaker 1: of Americans. Now, the Biden administration is clearly working overtime
- 23:23Speaker 1: in this regard, but gen Z is not working overtime.
- 23:27Speaker 1: And I know that we are going overtime, but I
- 23:29Speaker 1: have to get your opinion on this. This is completely
- 23:33Speaker 1: outside of the Iran deal or even the Education Bill.
- 23:36Speaker 1: Is just a cultural matter. But it really shocked me
- 23:38Speaker 1: as reading the Wall Street Journal that there is a
- 23:40Speaker 1: trend that has taken over TikTok and all sorts of
- 23:44Speaker 1: commentary among the zoomers, among Gen z, you know, the
- 23:47Speaker 1: people younger than millennials, which is the trend of quiet quitting.
- 23:52Speaker 1: And quiet quitting is when you keep your job. You're
- 23:55Speaker 1: not You don't quit, you don't resign, you don't even
- 23:58Speaker 1: get fired. You just do the bare minimum. You clock
- 24:02Speaker 1: in at nine o'clock on the dot, you clock out
- 24:05Speaker 1: at five o'clock on the dot. You don't pick up
- 24:07Speaker 1: your phone, you don't work weekends, you don't do anything.
- 24:10Speaker 1: And it was so bizarre to read this because I
- 24:14Speaker 1: was always raised that you just work hard and you
- 24:17Speaker 1: never stop working hard. And all the guys at the
- 24:19Speaker 1: top are working really hard. I know you work about
- 24:21Speaker 1: twenty seven hours a day. I've seen it up close
- 24:23Speaker 1: in cities all around the country. How do you explain
- 24:27Speaker 1: this trend and do the zoomers have any sort of
- 24:30Speaker 1: point when they're looking for work life balance. Well, Michael,
- 24:34Speaker 1: I gotta say, I think you're being agist, and it
- 24:37Speaker 1: may just be that you've gotten too old and you're
- 24:40Speaker 1: too far removed from the youngsters and you need someone
- 24:44Speaker 1: like me. Who's who's more in touch with the utes. Listen,
- 24:52Speaker 1: we have a prominent example of someone doing this, Joseph
- 24:56Speaker 1: Robinette Biden Julian The guys had a job for a
- 24:59Speaker 1: year to and he hasn't left his basement. You know
- 25:04Speaker 1: it it um Look. I do think the pandemic had
- 25:13Speaker 1: all sorts of harms, but it was particularly harmful to
- 25:16Speaker 1: gen z. It was particularly harmful to people starting their careers.
- 25:22Speaker 1: It's very harmful to kids too. I mean kids who
- 25:24Speaker 1: had school shuts down, shut down. That was incredibly harmful.
- 25:27Speaker 1: But you know, you have a lot of people in
- 25:31Speaker 1: their early twenties who have their first job and their
- 25:33Speaker 1: first job was during the pandemic where they worked from
- 25:36Speaker 1: home and they just zoom from home. And I get
- 25:39Speaker 1: to say now, and I talked to a lot lots
- 25:40Speaker 1: of people in the workplace who say that that. You know,
- 25:44Speaker 1: twenty somethings say hey, I'm just going to work from
- 25:46Speaker 1: home this week, and they think that it's it's just
- 25:51Speaker 1: the way it's done, that you just zoom in. And
- 25:56Speaker 1: there are lots of problems with that, one of which
- 25:58Speaker 1: is that that often people who are working from home
- 26:01Speaker 1: don't work like they claim. I'm working, and magically they're
- 26:05Speaker 1: doing everything from you know, playing golf to sleeping to
- 26:10Speaker 1: you know, running on the beach, but none of which
- 26:14Speaker 1: are actually the job presumably you're paid to do. But
- 26:19Speaker 1: it also really hurts young people not to be in
- 26:22Speaker 1: the office. And I look at you know, I mean,
- 26:26Speaker 1: I think back to when I was in my twenties
- 26:30Speaker 1: and just starting working, the experience of being there, of
- 26:35Speaker 1: being in the office, culture, of seeing people who are
- 26:39Speaker 1: more experienced, of learning from them. You know, look, I
- 26:44Speaker 1: worked obviously as a lawyer. It is still very much
- 26:48Speaker 1: the case that the way you learn how to be
- 26:49Speaker 1: a lawyer, you don't learn how to be a lawyer
- 26:51Speaker 1: in law school. You learn to be a lawyer much
- 26:55Speaker 1: like they did in the days of Abraham Lincoln, which
- 26:57Speaker 1: could you carry someone's briefcase. You just watch someone, you
- 27:00Speaker 1: apprentice under someone who is doing it, and you learn
- 27:04Speaker 1: by osmosis. You learn by just observing and being there
- 27:07Speaker 1: and seeing the day to day rhythm and how you
- 27:10Speaker 1: do it. And I do think young people in particular
- 27:15Speaker 1: who think I don't ever need to go into the
- 27:17Speaker 1: office to work are robbing themselves of really critical education
- 27:26Speaker 1: and on the job training and that at the end
- 27:32Speaker 1: of the day, it's not healthy for society, but it's
- 27:34Speaker 1: not healthy for them either. Like working hard and you know, listen,
- 27:39Speaker 1: I had years after years after years of you know,
- 27:44Speaker 1: working sixteen, eighteen, twenty hours a day, and that that discipline.
- 27:53Speaker 1: If if you want to do things that are important
- 27:56Speaker 1: and significant, it takes that time and commitment and energy.
- 28:01Speaker 1: And so I do worry that all of the lessons
- 28:05Speaker 1: society is teaching the younger generations are lessons that are
- 28:11Speaker 1: going to be really harmful for them in the long term. Well,
- 28:14Speaker 1: I'm glad that I could. I could get that insight
- 28:16Speaker 1: from someone who is young and hip to what the
- 28:19Speaker 1: youths are talking about, and I can take that back
- 28:22Speaker 1: and stew in that. Before we go, I have to

- 28:38Speaker 1: Liz Wheeler. Liz, what are you going to talk about? Hi,
- 28:41Speaker 1: Michael High, Senator. Yes, So it's very obvious that Biden's
- 28:44Speaker 1: student loan debt cancelation executive order is unfair to people
- 28:48Speaker 1: who have paid their debts off. It's also very expensive.
- 28:51Speaker 1: It's going to cost the American taxpayer billions of dollars.
- 28:53Speaker 1: It's redistribution of wealth, but opposite from what the Democrats
- 28:57Speaker 1: usually advocate for. This is actually taken from the poor
- 28:59Speaker 1: to give to the rich. It's also inflationary. It's going
- 29:01Speaker 1: to increase or worse in inflation. But here's here's a
- 29:04Speaker 1: million dollar question. Is Joe Biden canceling student loan debt
- 29:07Speaker 1: via this executive order even legal? That's what we're going
